Yeah. To be honest, like I've heard about the reputation with the manga and the anime.

A lot of my friends are anime fans and they like it. So, and sing its praise it. So I didn't, but surprisingly enough, with all the praise around it, I didn't have high expectations. I was coming into it kind of blind. So I was like, all right, let's enjoy it for what it is. and yeah, it's a ton of fun. Yeah, right. I didn't know,

I didn't expect a lot of, like, martial artsy type of action sequence, but because of that, I actually dig it a lot. Yeah. The pirate kind of backdrop is cool. The real, real pirate history is really dark.

So to have this elevated, like, fantastical version of it is pretty cool. Agreed. I love our main character, Luffy. Yeah, me too. And it seems like a very, I don't know,

how much exposure you have to anime, but I don't at all. You guys probably know that. That's the reason why John is on this and then it's me, right? Because now they're mixing us up. She knows nothing about anime or manga, am I saying it, right? I guess I... Okay. He doesn't know everything, right?

He's not the pro on it. He knows a lot more than I do. Sure, sure. So yes. No, yeah. And yeah, so the little that I do know, it seems as if a lot of the main characters happen to be like Luffy, this like optimistic, happy,

kind of blissfully ignorant hero that ironically likes to eat. And I see that with like, for those who know Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball, like Goku apparently likes to eat a lot. So, but yeah, anyways, I say that all to say,

the entirety of it all, like, it is a fun watch. I'm excited to watch it with you. This is going to be fun to go on this. journey. Otherwise, yeah, I enjoyed it. It was surprised. The cast is really attractive, which is obviously a helpful plus. Yeah, totally. But yeah, all the actors are like enjoying themselves, which is pretty cool. That one brat dude is hilarious. I love that guy. Otherwise, yeah, enjoying it. How about you? How are you feeling? I'm totally in the same place. Like, I had a lot of

fun and I really like how many Wunters are in this show. I love how many creative, close-ups there are, that they really do a good job of shooting it almost like it's a comic book slash, I guess what anime would be, as we know I'm not the expert. But he's staying on the actors to see them doing the actual work, the stunts, the choreography, means a great deal, right? Because you can get, you could get artsy with it and do cutaways and just see the sword in a hand and have a filler for it. But they're not doing that. And that, I think that, that, I think that, that's what makes this really a lot more exciting that I thought it was going to be

I think the how violent and graphic they got from the top like give me a break great the kid stabs his freaking face dude like sign me up I'm ready and he splits the guy's body in half

ball or move yeah the guy even like you were saying Like some of these characters have this, this sort of like blissful delight within them. Almost at the top, the guy is smiling as though the sun in the breeze is on his face and he knows he's about to die. Yeah, yeah. And his words are like, can you take these up? It's a bit itchy. And I'm like, I thought he was going to get out of it.

He did it. It's just like, I don't know what they're feeding them. But I want a little piece of it. Yeah, I would love to be that blissful. Yeah, yeah. You know, so sign me up. I'm loving this show. Let's get to y'all's questions.

The first one is from Nick at night. Hey, Taryn John, I really hope you guys like this show. One piece is my favorite anime manga and even anime live action. Interesting. I've read and watched all of the anime and can say the live action is pretty accurate. Okay, good to know. That's what we, yeah. I want to know if you guys have any animated shows or movies,

you will hope to see brought to life like this one. He's probably going to have more than I would. Um, animated generally or animated. Yeah, right? I guess it could be either because he did say animated. Sure. Um, do you have any off the top of your head? Animated.

This is, yeah, this is. Dude, what if like Toy Story became a live action? But they would have to have really good actors. Yes. And like the actors are, how do we make that? Oh, they'd have to shoot it like they shot Elf. Because you know Elf with What's his Nuts? Where they had the dynamic of the set

And making him look huge on the Elf set They would have to do that with all the people, all the toys. Oh, you take the toys, right? And do really good stop motion. Like extremely smooth stop motion. Yeah. And then you have your human actors and stuff. But otherwise, that would be, I'd be down with that.

That sounds cool. That sounds almost like the Indian in the cupboard, you know? Yeah. I mean, I think I've heard of it. I don't know if I watched. No worries. It's okay. Okay, animated shows into movies.

There's this great animated show called Batman. No, I'm just kidding. So this is going to, for those who are animated or anime fans, I think this is a deep cut. Okay. Kind of. Oh, he's gone deep. This is kind of my. I'm going to need a shovel.

Go ahead. Very small amount of anime that I have watched. For those who need to. know there's a there's a little animated or anime that's called ronin warrior it's it's samurai with power rangers so each samurai is a different color like there's a red samurai blue samurai okay cool uh it's a cool anime that i grew up on and i'd love to see that live action that's cool that's a nice answer yeah remind him what it's called again ronon warrior oh okay and then there's another one called samurai champlu um yeah that's the name of it yeah i uh i uh i uh i i i

Cool anime. I think it's only one season, but an amazing story. I would like to see that. It's three samurai, or two samurai and a woman that are trying to find something. I forgot the story,

but it's a very celebrated anime. Yeah. And that live action would be cool. For those who know, I'm a B-boy, I'm a breakdancer. So that has a lot of breakdancing in the choreography.

So I don't want to see that. Oh, awesome. Yeah, I want to see that. So, yeah, that'd be pretty cool. That's so freaking cool. Oh, my God.

We're going to have to take a social media video of you one day doing the breakdancing. That would blow up. I hope so. Emma says One Piece. Heck yeah. I love One Piece.

This live action actually does the show justice so much that's actually getting season two and three. Wow. What do you guys think of the gang so far, especially Luffy in both anime and live action? If you can get a good idea of who Luffy is, is a person and character really early on. Thank you for reading it so fast. Yeah. That's sometimes when I just, I flash through it to get it going.

Sure, sure, sure. So what do you think about Luffy? Because they said they, I agree with what M is saying is that Luffy, they do give you within a very short amount of time how quickly they allow the audience to grasp on to who he is. Without doing a lot because you can just have, if you do the right casting with the right actor, you can have that actor show up on screen. and if you believe him and he's smiling and with his lines and you're like

oh I that's who he is you grasp it really quickly which I like definitely I mentioned this while we were watching it the one thing I really like about him is that for whatever reason again yes he's like this optimistic

character but he's also very like positive around the people he can befriend and like he roots for them like he does for the Kobe character and like he uses like reverse psychology to get the other two part of the crew which is totally but again he's just like he's almost like this sword cutting through everyone's like stories and like you but he's also a magnet and he gets everyone's motivation to kind of align and then

from there he kind of becomes this reluctant but like this unexpected leader which is pretty cool. Yeah. But yeah, he's a cool character. And among the crew, I think, I guess he's my favorite just because he seems to be like our main kind of focus. Yeah. Like, he's pretty cool. Besides, like, the three-sword guy is pretty dope as hell.

Yeah, absolutely. He's cool. But the girl is cool, too. I'm forgetting her name, orange-haired girl. Did we ever get her name? I don't know. I don't, I'm not. I will get it next time.

But she's also awesome. But I do agree with you that Luffy is a, he's a bit of a magnet. And I think that that's like a lot of times, I'll think about it. I'll be lying in bed and be like, manifestation, should I do it? Oh, yes. Right. He's that. He's that.

He does that. He is manifesting. Yeah. She literally is like, I don't want to work with pirates. They all suck. He's like, we haven't met me yet. Yeah, yeah. Nothing gets this kid down.

Like, sign me up. I need all the pages out of his book, not just one, okay? There you go. Pierre the Reject says, hey, Taryn John, would you consider watching the One Piece anime so long, like over 1,100 episodes? What other animation, live action, would you watch? Which is kind of what Nick at night just asked us, would you answer to? But do you have any other ones that, or a live action, would you watch? I guess that's a little different.

I don't know of a... Here's the thing, Pierre, the Reject. What you got to do is ask this again, but give... Give examples. Like, give a list. Sure. I'm not going to know. And by the 2% chance that I might have watched one of them or know anything about it, then I could tell you.

Sure. But he might have some more. Yeah. Okay. So other anime live action, would you watch? Apparently the Dragon Mall movie is terrible. So don't watch that. I don't want to watch that.

I've heard it's atrocious. So the other one, there's another, the very little anime that I do know, there is a small, another like one season anime show called Outlaw Star. That's kind of a deep cut too. I'd watch that live action. It's about, I think he's a pirate, but in space. Oh. But yeah. So instead of like pirate ships, it's pirate like spaceships.

That's cool. Yeah, yeah. otherwise So to answer the question about like The anime, that's out of our pay grade. I don't know. I don't think we're going to do that because because I never say never. Right.

The powers that be will talk to, you know, the rest of the rejects. So I don't know. The fact that it's 1100 episodes I'm going to say right now, probably not. Unless it's like the most amazing anime or something. But that's that's so much, Pierre the Reject. That's a lot. So we would have to see about that. Jay Rushnan is saying which one of the characters is your favorite,

which we kind of already answered. But Luffy, we do love. Absolutely. Yeah, yeah. Do you have any other that you're like, ah? I mean, I brought up the three short. I feel like everybody is cool. Yeah.

Oh, the freaking brat guy. The brat guy is hilarious. I love it. He's like eating every time he's on screen. Yeah. He's hilarious and fun. I bet you had a ton of fun. filming it but right even the um the guy who the the sawhand guy is a great character as well

axe hand yeah axan no that's right i said the saw hand guy ax hand is cool and then he says three sword guys like every part of his body's a weapon yeah he could bite into his sword i don't know why he found that kind of sexual i was like ooh excuse me oh look at him go yeah i was like wow you got butterflies yeah oh my god he's he's he's weird like me where I'm the one cheering in the horror movies when I'm like, cut that body in half! You know, like I

might not get butterflies like him at the same rate, but it does excite me. I'm like, let's see it. Show me the juice. Let's go. There you go. Okay, we got a little piece of trivia from Emma. She says, Fun fact, in the Japanese dub of the live action,

the original Japanese voice actors for the anime voice, their live action characters too. Whoa, interesting. That's cool. Wow. Okay. In the dub of the lot. Oh, I see. I see. So basically in Japan, they're dubbing it in their original language. Okay, I love that. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. Giving it like, authentic. Netflix dubbing. Yeah, that's true. That's so true. Sometimes I listen and I'm like, why why wouldn't they hire me for this? I don't even know where are you an audition to be a Netflix dub actor.

Higher Tara, damn it. There are some on there that I'm like, yeah. That's how they delivered that. That that passed the cut. Apparently.

Like, I mean, sure, eventually. I know exactly what you're talking about. It's terrible. Terrible. And I'm sure eventually it'll all be AI. That would suck.

But you guys get what I'm saying. Some of the dubbing is fine. I'm happy to hear that. That's actually pretty cool. Yeah. That's very, very cool. Yeah. Um, okay, do you have any last thoughts or anything that you want to talk about with this?

Like, is there anything you didn't like about it? Um, no. I'm surprised like, yeah, no. I'm kind of with you. Yeah, there's nothing critical. I'm not going to like, yeah. Because it's so wild. Yeah, and I think that adds to the fun, right? That adds to the whimsy. That word was being passed around when we were being talked about it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, but yeah, it, it, nothing bad. I wouldn't say anything bad at all. We'll see about the other episodes, but so far. The one piece. The one piece is real. Can we get much higher? I'm excited to continue the journey with Tara.

and the deep dive with Luffy and his history with Shanks. fascinating. Totally. Otherwise, yeah, I'm digging the show. And the heart kicks in out of nowhere

and you're like, oh my gosh. I know. The stringing in my heart. I know. Like, it wasn't it like so emotional? Yeah.

Surprisingly. So yeah. That was great. How did you feel about it? I loved it. I'm with you on that. I really, you know,

I, I loved Bungie a lot. I really liked his character. Yes. Yeah. But I also hated. him but I'm like oh now he's gone so now I'm thinking oh is this

every episode is like we get a new villain and we defeat him besides the Marines which is a lot of fun but I think Buggy was he's a really good actor I have no idea who that was and I do agree that the heart came in

out of nowhere with Shanks and what a great reveal when they lift up Luffy's hat and the tears are in his eyes like Oh, yeah. Phenomenal. So, so good. Okay, so let's just go over Buggies, the circus.

So when we first go through that, I loved the way that set looked, all the effects and Buggies power. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like you were like, he might be not, we might not be able to defeat him. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that was smart. I didn't expect that. What do you think your favorite part was about, like, the circus part of it.

Sure. Okay. So I want to kind of nerd out a little bit. Let's do it. In the weirdest way. So, okay, this is going to be so totally, that might not seem like it connects. So, okay.

I don't want to sound so self-centered, but like, so break dancing. That's my thing, right? Yeah. So within the breaking community, there are different dance styles. And the dance style I lean towards. is something called abstract breaking.

And so it's not what you're familiar with if you go to like Venice Beach or Santa Monica. Yeah. Or even at the Olympics. You won't see that. I mean, that's what you typically find or think of as breakdancing. A lot of spinning and twirling and and torturing our joints for fun. But the style I lean towards, it started in the early 2000s.

And it's called abstract breaking. So it's, think of contortion, combined. combining with breaking, combining with yoga kind of movements. Wow. And surrounding a move called a thread. And so there was this crew that kind of pioneered this movie. It's so like weird hip-hop like history. And this crew, good friends of mine, I'm going to give them a shout out,

but they pioneered this abstract style. Oh. Not one, not the only crew, but one of the pioneering crews. Yeah. And their names were called Circus Runaways. and they, you, so, Terry, let me just have this interaction. When you think of breakdancer and hip hop, what kind of, just for fashion-wise, what would you, what would you think off the top of your head?

Like what they would wear? Yeah, just generally, if you think of breakdancing commercial or like hip-hop, yeah, like, yeah, I mean, I think, I'm thinking like sportywear, maybe like neon colors, graffiti-esque, that kind of type. There you go. So that is your stereotypical break dancer, right? Yeah. The average person with the thing,

and that's how the 80s was in 90s, whatever. With this abstract style, and the crew likes circus runaways and a handful of others, I'm going to give them credit, whatever. Think of neopunk rock,

tighter clothes, Mohawks, clown makeup because their name was circus runaways. Yeah, yeah. But they never called it like makeup. They called it war paints because they would battle with, that on. So, like, ironically, going back now to One Piece and Buggy's, like, circus, I was like,

I'm eating this all up. This looks so cool and, like, they're bad guys. And Buggy is almost like the Joker and how weird he is, obviously, being a clown. So it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, I, I, I, I dug it all. And, like, cool, villain, sadistic and, like, kind of funny. And, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, but also and then when you again when you get into his power you're like how the heck do you defeat this guy so yeah to answer your question

my favorite part was I think just the aesthetic what you mentioned like the design of the entire kind of complex he's coming from so yeah I think like the lighting they played with like the red and the blue and like all of that was was really really awesome and yeah the makeup was like it's a lot of fun but also was funny

the direction was pretty funny when you at first reveal the audience and they're like applauding but the lady's crying and then you're like oh yeah they're being forced yes exactly there which i thought was a lot of fun now what do you think is going to happen with Kobe because Kobe has now said that he is like i'm with the marines he's like i'm not he he's basically kind of not fully but a bit turned luffy in kind of and he's pledged his allegiance to the Marines. And I'm like, what do we like, what?

Like, I'm like, I don't know, because he wants to be a Marine so bad. Now he's a Marine. That now I'm like, but he's not a bad guy. Then like, if we get to go see Luffy, that I'm like, is he going to help them capture him? Or is

he going to like flip sides? Yeah, yeah. Good question. I, oh my gosh. There's so many things we get. The first thing I'm thinking of is like all the real crazy One Piece fans are me like, you don't know what you're in for. Yeah. And so hopefully our predictions are anything close. My closest prediction was what I mentioned on the first episode.

Yes. He might become like the ultimate villain. Exactly. Or he's the good idea. Like he's the yin to Luffy's Yang kind of thing or whatever the expression is. Or he could be like the one who like sacrifices himself at the end of of this season or story or whatever the case may be, where he will lead the Marines to Luffy and the crew,

but ultimately saves Luffy and somehow like... Yeah, flip or something. Yeah, exactly. So I have those two things. I could be completely wrong. I don't know. I'm here for the ride. I'm here for the journey.

I'm with you. I'm mostly really now concerned about Nami. Oh, yeah. The orange-haired girl. Yeah, yeah. I said it at the circus. When he goes the map And I go all good

He's showing her That he trusts her Yeah Right But then there's just one look From her And I called it out And I was like

All right I'm not gonna read too much Into it And then there she freaking is Trader Put the snail in And like you said I immediately

I'm thinking She's talking In a white hair Marine guy But then I'm like Would that really make sense Because like I don't

I And you're like Well snails are just A communication piece And I'm like Yeah I think he's totally right It's like a Bluetooth little phone that she's got going on.

Adorable. But I'm like, who the fuck is she calling? Yeah, yeah, exactly. You know? Yeah, who knows? What is her goal? Like, because, okay, let's go back. She, okay, we meet her, right?

And then who stopped her in the beginning? No, I remember she was like pretending to be. She was at the bar. Oh, yes, yes, that's right. She wanted to sneak in and be a Marine. Yes, to get the map. To get the map. Yeah, yeah.

So she can't be. calling the guy, the white-haired guy, because he's already Marines. And we knew we needed a break in to get it. So she's got to be calling somebody else. Someone probably very important to the, like, the third act of the story, I was assuming. But yeah, or some other pirate. Because we think Avita's dead, right? Yeah.

The thing is she was knocked out of the water. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we didn't see her die. No, we didn't, yeah. Same thing with Buggy. Like, he didn't really die. Yeah, you're right. He just got bazooked.

I don't have any notes sure yeah I really am loving it. I think it's so much fun. But I am still that person who's think through things of like, why don't you just bazook him? And I'm like, no, because he was too big. Right?

But that again, we didn't see him die. We didn't see him die. Do we think that this is the type of show that brings Avita, buggy? All the villains. Do you know what I mean? Do we think? They all kind of conspire against.

Yeah. Like they co-inside. They all get together. Maybe. Maybe that could be. Maybe they're just gone forever. Who knows? What about Brat?

Brat with his hair and hot? He's not as, he's not as prominent in this episode than the other one. I loved him in the first episode for sure. He's still there though. And his dad is captured. Or not captured. Like he's like there.

Yeah. His dad is not the head of it anymore. Yeah. Yeah. Which I'm wondering if he's like. Yay, because maybe he's like my dad was kind of a dick. Yeah, maybe. Right?

Like, I don't know, man. Who are you excited to see like, I guess more of in the upcoming episodes? Because we really are just kind of, I guess each episode we're ending on always Luffy, Nami and Zoro. Zoro. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So how are you feeling about that? Good question.

I do want to know who Nami is talking to. I think there's that mystery there. Yep. And like we mentioned earlier, I think because he's kind of our lead, Luffy and his history with Shanks. Yes. Because that's where the heart is. And like it draws you in.

And like his optimism is like energy. There's that expression. Energy is not taught. It's caught. It's contagious. Yep. And his energy and his optimism. And like, even to the point where Zora was like, he doesn't need to believe in me.

He believes in himself or something like. Yeah. And it's, and then he said it's spread. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So because of that alone, I want to see the journey of the entire crew getting closer and closer where they almost become loyal to Luffy out of nowhere, right? Totally. But, yeah, the Nami mystery is something that I'm really hoping we can like just dive into.

I agree. Any particular characters or? I mean, I'll tell you right now that that dragon eel printing coming out, that was my favorite. That is the best special effects that I have seen in a minute. Yeah. That's like, that's a high-ass budget. The thing is that I really appreciate about this show is the time and effort and

obviously the money that goes into the special effects. Yes. Yeah. I see movies that are made. now. Like, and the special effects are nowhere near this. Yeah. And I think they take great care and consideration in making it look good and

believable. Yes. Even when he's being chopped up. Yeah. It's believable. It looks great. It's not corny. There's nothing about it where you're like, that looks weird.

That looks fake. Right. None of that. It looks great. Absolutely. And to see that sea monster comment. out and look as cool as it did. Yes, yes, yes.

But then we kind of found out where you go, oh, that's Shanks power. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He looked him in the eye and he went, he like blinked and then the sea creature was like, all right, peace out. Like, what the heck was that? Yeah, that's another mystery that I wanted to dive into it for sure. That's a bit of a mystery. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Right, that Shanks had, I guess, a power over sea creatures? Right, yeah, or something like, yeah, I guess so. But then I'm like, okay. I mean, how odd is it that, there's a nat in here, how odd is it that the sea is what can kill. Yes. Luffy, I'm probably always going to mess up that name. It doesn't matter.

Whatever. That's how I roll. Is that Luffy, you know, when he's in the seat, kills him. And now we're thinking his mentor, Shanks is like maybe a little bit of like he's got some sea power. Yeah, which is very interesting. Yeah. Right. I like that motif or like it's that weird theme of like it's the irony of the our main character like Louie.

Like he he wants to be a pirate. Right. But is allergic to the water. Yeah. That's so smart like writing like it's clever. Yeah. I want to see more of that for sure. And yeah, to find out what happened to Shanks.

And he like gave up his arm for him. Like no, yeah, my arm's gone. It's just an arm. I'm like, it's just an arm. Exactly. But yeah, definitely just it's the, like you said, the CGI is impressive for, I guess, Netflix kind of budget, which I mean, Netflix spends a lot of money. They do, yeah. But this was kind of in the beginning, before Netflix became, not in the beginning.

I mean, it's like three years old, but like, you know, lately, this is made, you know, before they're like, we have $70 billion to buy Warner Brothers. Exactly, exactly. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You didn't really know. And obviously they are, you know, picking and maybe choosing which ones to do great special effects for. But also, it has to do with the budget, but also showrunner, director, producers are like, we are not going to put this out unless it is, which some of you guys sent us questions on episode one. The reason we're not going to questions right now is because we decided to watch episode two.

And so we didn't have the questions. But send them in, don't forget. So you can send us in questions for like two and three. And we'll answer them. And we'll answer them in episode three. That's a heads up for you. But they are, there's obviously people behind it that are saying we're not going to do it unless this is like a shot for shot remake done really well. Yes.

Because as we said, you know, the fans told us this is almost shot for shot. It's done so well. Very, very accurate. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Which is a lot of fun and that's hard to do live action, which, you know, we've all been there.

We watch stuff. It's live action. You're like, this looks like, like Snow White, you guys saw my review of that. The dwarf scared me. Why are we not? Why are we what? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

If it's going to be a live action, make it live action. Yes, yes, absolutely. Anyway, um, okay. So what, you have any last thoughts here about this episode? This particular episode? Yeah, at the end of the day,

nothing too much other than more of the heart. I really want to see more. That took me like... That was our favorite. Yeah, it took me by surprise. I was like, damn, it got really... Because, again, Shanks seems like a cool character. And then, oh, no, he's kind of like a father figure.

This is, again, very short-lived, but now the mystery continues. But yeah, I'm excited to rock in on with you. Let's do it. Yeah, it's fun. And I really, you know, I hope that's not the last time we see, shanks. I know that it's set up that way but I hope we keep
