Starting point is 00:00:00 One plus one equals more of the greatest stories. Hulu on Disney Plus. Stories about survivors. The most dangerous planet. Family. Retribution. Murder. Prophecy.
Starting point is 00:00:11 Beer and propane. Bobby Dillard. Blake Pantha. The ultimate soldier. Chicago. All right. The best of the best stories now with even more from Hulu. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Have it all with BYU on Disney Plus. On June 18th, 2023, Ocean Gate's Titan submersible imploded during an expedition dive to the Titanic, killing all five on board, including Ocean Gate founder and CEO Stockton Rush. Numerous industry experts and employees from within Ocean Gate itself had warned Rush of impending doom, citing safety concerns and a lack of testing. His hubris, ego, and reckless desire for innovation over all else cost him his life and that of four others. The catastrophic destruction of the Titan submersible sent shockwaves through the ocean
Starting point is 00:01:05 exploration industry that are still being felt today. The Ocean Gate Titan submersible, a preventable tragedy, a two-part series available now on shipwrecks and sea dogs. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Thank you to Shopify for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit. Let's do episode 7, 321. I clicked it. Oh, cool T's. That's very exciting. Yay. All righty guys.
Starting point is 00:01:42 We just got done watching One Piece. So if you're listening to us on Apple, our Spotify, give us a five-star rating. If you're on YouTube, like, comment, subscribe when you do. Ring the bell. Ring the bell. Thank you to prep for helping out it down these highlights. Thank you. Also, if you're not on Patreon, you've got to get over there because that's where you can ask
Starting point is 00:02:03 those questions, anything that we're watching. Also, just helps keep us here. keep the lights on. You get 15% off. I'll reject nation shop.com gear. Like these cool teas that we are wearing. And I don't know if we have any. We have one.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Oh, we have one. But let's go first to like, how are you feeling about these episodes, John? Yeah. So it seems like these two are the last two episodes of season one, which is very cool. Yeah, it had that grand finale. type of feeling, which is pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:02:39 A lot of the story or the plot lines kind of finished off and then we're revealing the next journey, which is the grand line. Yeah. But yeah, it's, I enjoyed the fact that we got to see Nami's backstory, especially in the seventh episode and eighth episode, kind of like that reconciliation between her and her sister. I'll find out what the deal is with her mom and so on and so forth. so um but yeah i i'm i'm i'm i'm in love with all the characters they're just you know prove to how cool they are especially with um luffy again come in clutch with this un uh unlike shakeable
Starting point is 00:03:21 character of helping his friends and and and being there for them unconditionally almost and so it's it's cool to see all that um and uh yeah it's it's still interesting entertaining the the fight choreography it can't go without being mentioned right yeah totally um yeah sonji's cool it's like the little cool tidbit that we found like he doesn't use his hands exactly he's like i'm gonna keep him clean so i'm gonna kick all the time i like that um that makes a lot more sense now i was like yeah he's not using a weapon um zoro comes in clutch with the swords even being Usopp being like really smart for being the least trained fighter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Right. But otherwise, yeah, the only criticism I have is that honestly, and this is just my, my sentiments, I think it was a little rushed at the end. Like, I didn't feel a lot of connection with the sister with Nami. Yeah. It was good, but like it could have elevated if you spent more time there. and there is a lot of, and maybe this is the anime kind of
Starting point is 00:04:30 seeping through, but it was a little, I don't want to use the wrong word, I want to articulate this as best as I can. Maybe I have to lean into the cheesiness and the melodramatic of it all. But yeah, otherwise, it's still entertaining and fun
Starting point is 00:04:48 and again, all likable characters. Otherwise, yeah, I had a ton of fun. How about you? Yeah, I had fun too. I like that we did finally get to see Anami's backstory which was fun. It was a big loop around because I was like okay, she's a traitor but we still don't believe her.
Starting point is 00:05:06 I think the corny's that we have to like, that we have to accept and have fun with is that Luffy is like he's such a dreamer. He's like, I never am going to let anyone not live their dream which is why because they've set that up the whole season, and it makes it even more believable when Nami shuts him down twice and is like, get out, get out, get out of here.
Starting point is 00:05:28 No one else was stuck around. But, like, Luffy is like he's there. Yeah. And then, you know, changes her, kind of changes her life and obviously saves her when she's there stabbing her freaking arm because she hates our love so much. Jeez, Louise, I forgot. That was wild, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:05:45 And she just kept it all to herself, all very, you know, private about it. Right. But I did really like, like you said, the choreography, especially when we go into shark attack with all of them fighting. Like you said, we finally got to see Zorro and Sanji fight together. And that was fun. Yeah, yeah. Because they give each other shit, but like they're good together.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is a lot of fun. And I really like the reveal of, I forget her name, the blonde girl. who's getting healthier now. Oh, yeah. I forgot her name too. She sold them the boat, Mary. But like I liked her seeing Usopp and sort of smiling because he's in the wanted poster.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Yeah. I like that. And yeah, we have to ride the ride of like Luffy being so happy that he's like the most wanted. And we set that up because he saw other wanted posters. And he was, we're like, this kid is so weird. That like he wants to be king of the pirates. but we are with him and like we believe him. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:06:54 And it takes a second to go like, but how is he going to continue to get out of each and every one of these disasters that he's kind of in? Right, right, right. He always finds a way. Figures that out. Yeah. Always. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:07 The one criticism that I'll have is when he does his gum gum, gums is that I wanted to see how he actually got out of it. Oh, yeah, yeah. How he survives by punching through the whole building. Yeah. And obviously Arlong is killed. I kind of wanted to see like, the leg chops through the building,
Starting point is 00:07:22 but then I'm like, but how does he save himself? Right, right, right, right. I get that he's, you know, he's gumby. So maybe that's just why. You can't like break his bones, right?
Starting point is 00:07:30 Yeah, yeah. So maybe that's why. But, yeah. Okay, so are we thinking now, like what are your predictions, I guess, for the next season?
Starting point is 00:07:42 Because we see the wanted poster being burned by a cigar and we're like, oh, we're assuming that's a, that's a bounty hunter. Yeah, someone like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Yeah. Right. And like they're headed for the grand line with Nami. But they're saying, Nami's pointing out that there's a river, but that's where a mountain should be. And I'm wondering, is the Mapalai or?
Starting point is 00:08:04 Interesting. Yeah. Has she just not, not been there yet? Or is it because we have Nami on our side, is she going to be like, I know that's not a river. We have to like go around.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I don't know. I'm thinking about that probably too much. It's okay. Yeah. So what are your, predictions, I guess. I'll ask you, like, what do you think for next season? So it seems as if, because he's on the wanted poster and that has the highest bounty. Instead of, so this season seemed like a lot of pirates going after them and they're their foils or whatever.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Right. Now it's bounty hunters and maybe a mixture of pirates too because they showed, um, uh, what's the pirates name? The clown one, but, uh, buggy. Buggy, buggy and the other, the female pirate. Yes. So there might be a mixture of that where it leans towards bounty hunter. more. I,
Starting point is 00:08:52 and I think there's still going to be some sort of marine tie-in. Yes. Because they showed Kobe and we still call him Bullcott. I think his name is like
Starting point is 00:09:00 Hells something. Yeah, I don't even know his name. I still call him Bullcut. Probably forever. And it's crazy because he, his turn, his change,
Starting point is 00:09:09 his turn. Yeah. He's a jerk in the beginning and now he's just like really nice to Kobe. Totally. Which was kind of like warm and welcoming.
Starting point is 00:09:18 But I think that the second season is just, them going through the grand line to get to the one piece or however whatever they're looking for um but encountering the bounty hunters as like the biggest kind of obstacles right which is going to be pretty cool um and yeah i'm looking forward to that adventure i i know that this is apparently i mean i know it's accurate to the anime so are we like really like this is really early in the story because again there's like a thousand episodes or something right so who knows what What, like, I, I'm assuming it's just going to get more colorful and crazier.
Starting point is 00:09:55 Right. I don't know if you are you on the same page or do you have other? Reject Nation, starting something new isn't just exciting. It is also terrifying. When we launch our merch store, Rejectnation Shop.com, there are a lot of what ifs. What if no one buys anything? What if I can't figure out inventory? Shipping, returns, a whole bunch of stuff I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And that leap is scary. That's why we decided to use. Shopify and they made a difference. And yes, we are partnered with them for this video, but we use them before we ever partnered with them. For you guys who don't know, Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses around the world and 10% of all e-commerce in the US. For major brands to creators like us, just getting started. Thank you, Shopify for expanding the reject nation and for sponsoring us yet again. Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 00:11:29 I mean, I did think, you know, the Garp, his grandpa's, like, test. I was like, wait, what? Yeah, that was. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was one that we were both like, wait, what? Yeah, yeah. For real. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Because, yeah, I liked that that was his true test. I a little bit, but maybe if they had given us a hint of that as the audience that it wouldn't be as big of a reveal, but then I'm thinking, well, if they gave us a little hint of it that made a second guess, that when it's revealed that, yes, this was just a test, that we wouldn't be so shocked or so like, is this an easy out? I still think it's good, it's good writing. Sure. I just still was, like, shocked of like, but wait, really?
Starting point is 00:12:15 Yeah, yeah. Like he had him right there. I like that. I do like it. And I like that Garb's kind of coming around to be like, now we realize he's not like the true villain. He's now going to teach Kobe and Bull Cut how to really train and become really, you know, basically like he trained Luffy. Right, right, right. So that was a nice like little bait and switch that I really didn't see coming, which I was shocked by.
Starting point is 00:12:41 No, yeah. It seems as if they, how they executed. I don't know how the anime executes it, but like almost like, again, anti-climactic is this entire chase. Yeah. And then like, oh, we're just going to, we fight for a little bit. And then, oh, okay, I guess you're convicted, like in your, in your goals. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Whatever. And then peace out. Like, I don't know why. I just felt. Maybe it was too short-lived for us. Like the battle needed to be more. Yeah. It didn't feel like a lot of the stakes, like, were as high as they were.
Starting point is 00:13:15 being conveyed throughout the entire season. And then ends kind of like in a fist fight that doesn't last very long. One of the coolest things, I don't know how you feel about this, but when Shanks was revealed, like I thought he died. I thought like we're never going to see him again or whatever, but, um, because it seems like he's like a foster father figure to Luffy. Yeah. I thought he was going to be dead too.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Yeah. I thought there, when, when they cross paths, I, I want to see how cool that's going to be and maybe heartwarming or, like, some sort of cool situation or would be crazy writing. Again, this is my prediction, is that they get at odds with one another. Like, oh, my hero became my foiled kind of thing. So that's how I felt about Kobe and Kobe turning into this Marine who's going to be hunting Luffy forever.
Starting point is 00:14:06 But I guess I was wrong. Who knows the 1,000th episode might be covering that? I don't know. Otherwise, yeah, like going back to that. grandfather-grandson. Yeah. It just doesn't... I wonder what...
Starting point is 00:14:20 They didn't sell us too well. Yeah. At the end, right? That's kind of what you're saying. Yeah. Maybe... I wonder where their storyline goes now. Are they completely like separate?
Starting point is 00:14:32 Like what, yeah, what happened to them? Yeah, I wonder if they'd take in a little bit longer. Right. And I still like, obviously, you know, love the show, think it's a lot of fun. Yes. I just wonder if maybe... they took a little bit longer with that battle with the grandpa, gave us a little bit more of an insight as to why he was testing him with a better callback.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Yes. If we had a callback to when grandpa was training Luffy and there's something that we saw because they did give us foundation. They did give us flashbacks. We did. If that then when he's holding him up, that there's some sort of callback that now feeds into why grandpa so easily goes, all right, I was just testing you. That then makes the audience go, oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Great callback from three episodes ago when we saw the flashback, right? Maybe that, I think that would have paid it off a little bit better. And maybe that happens in the comment. I highly doubt it happens in the comments because that would have been a real big thing to miss. I think that that's just would be good writing and very cathartic for the audience to have that. so maybe if we had that that would have been a little bit but it was still fun and yeah i'm wondering if i would love to see coby you know and bull cut train with grandpa that'll be fun yeah yeah yeah i wonder if maybe they come around and they help like fight off the bounty hunters oh yeah that's yeah
Starting point is 00:16:02 they're they're they're kind of yeah yeah yeah yeah that's true i don't know man um oh my my my toe still hurt y'all i'm gonna tell you that right now Holy Tamale. Like, do we think I need to get an X-ray? I'm not gonna, but I'm just like, what? I'll ask you at Chippee later. I'm gonna be like, if my toe was broken when I still be able to walk, probably not.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Yeah, I don't think so, yeah. We'll see. Okay, we just have a question from Jay Rushden. It says, what is Nami got up her sleeve? It's tattooed John. If tattooed John was right, she got something up the sleeve, literally. Question, what pirate tattoo would you get on the arm? one piece. The preview in theaters is March 10th. Wow. Okay. That's like in two weeks from now.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Wow. That's the day after my birthday. That's cool. Um, um, um, um, a tattoo. I'm not a tattoo person. I don't have any tattoos right now. Do you have any tattoos? No, cool. Okay. Nope. I don't. Um, tattoo. I don't know. Um, pirate tattoo. Would you get on the arm? Um, I don't know, y'all. Because I've never really thought about it. Um, I guess it'd be very, I've never really thought about it either. Yeah. If it's, if it's, if it's, um, I mean, I, you know, having a Filipino background in Pacific Islander, it'd be some sort of like, what are those called?
Starting point is 00:17:32 Not tribal, but like. Anyways, that type of tattoo, I guess. Like a tribe, like a symbol? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I think of like the rock or something. You know, like, yeah. Yeah, I know what you mean. a tribal thing.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Kind of like not me had, but it looked, it looked like a tribal thing, but it was just for the bad team. Right, exactly, exactly.
Starting point is 00:17:51 So you would want a tribal thing for the right team. I agree. I still am like, I don't know. I honestly, when I thought about getting a tattoo,
Starting point is 00:18:00 this is like in high school and I thought it was cool. Yeah. And I never did it. I'd put like a quote on my neck. And looking back at it, like kind of cool. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:18:10 kind of cool. But then like it's always there. Yes, exactly. So, yeah, that's why I never got tattoos. It was like, I don't want to, years later, be like, I regret it or whatever. Yeah. But like, I think both of our vibes work for tattoos. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Like, I've come off as a type who would be like, yeah. You totally do. Yeah. Like, tattoo girl. But then you kind of, like, with what I wear, you can't just, like, wear anything. Yeah. I mean, I know people do, but you got really kind of vibe it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Yeah. With the tattoos. Right, right. And I changed my style all the time. that's cool you know the vibe there i don't know i don't know yeah i think if i did do a tattoo of a quote just because that would have been more realistic it ironically goes in line with luffy's kind of um um uh lufe's kind of uh his entire vibe and it's one of my favorite quotes i've ever heard it's kind of motivational so uh with my sales background that's how i know gregg
Starting point is 00:19:08 yes um the the the top earner of our company at the time was this like amazingly cool grandma. Oh, Kai. And super experienced and like the coolest chick. And her quote that she's known for is a dream too big is just the right size. Love that. And so I would be like very luffy, right? And very luffy.
Starting point is 00:19:31 And like I'd tie in the neck or something. I don't know. Not the neck maybe. Yeah. So yeah. I love that. A dream too big is just the right size. They should write that into the shell.
Starting point is 00:19:41 That's very much a loose. goofy thing. You know what they should write down on is a quote on the boat, on the Mary. Oh yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That'd be cool. Yeah. That would be a perfect quote to have on the boat. Yeah, yeah. I love it. This show is still like so much fun. We're very excited for the next season. I didn't know that the previews are in theaters. I know. That's crazy. Yeah. Like, what does that mean? Let me just look at up. Is it season one? I mean, episode one? Like, previews of one piece in theater. Like, what does that mean? mean, let's see. So Netflix is bringing the first two episodes of One Piece Season 2 into the grand line
Starting point is 00:20:19 to the theaters. Okay, on March 10th. So for limiting screens, they go on sale February. So they went on sale yesterday. Gotcha. And it's at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark, just so you guys know. And it'll just be the first two episodes will be shown. And the release date is March 10th concurrent with the Netflix debut.
Starting point is 00:20:39 So I guess it'll drop on Netflix and then theaters. That's interesting. Interesting. Available starting February 26th are the tickets, but the tickets, but the release. Okay. Interesting. I wonder how that will do because if everybody has Netflix, which I feel like the world does, are people.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Actually, you're going to go to the theater? Because of the choreography, right? The practical effects they're using, which I like, the CGI looks great. I see shows that are still made now today. Don't look great. They've done a good job with it. Maybe it is a theater thing. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:21:18 I think the theater tickets are going to be sold to the comic book. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Who are obsessed, who've lived with this for years. And they've got to go see it in the theater. Yeah. Versus for me, I'm like, I'll watch it on a big TV. Yeah, Netflix. I'm still done for Netflix.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Yeah, definitely. Yeah. We have to watch you here with you guys. So we're not obviously going to the theater. We're not leaving you. We'll be here. Do you have any last words for the people? Can't wait for season two, which I think we're scheduled for.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Yeah, like next week or who knows, but we'll be watching it. You guys will watch it with us. I assume that we will be releasing our season two reaction on March 10th. So you could go to the theater, come back, watch us, support us. Make sure you're joining Patreon. We love you guys. Remember, we spread all the good stuff here. be nice but cool be kind see you on the next one
