back to the video peeps now that we've done it perfectly are we ready for peacemaker season
two episode two yes robert one two two uh guys if you right now are watching listening apple
podcast spotify five star thumbs up on youtube all that good stuff appreciate it thank you to
prepper for helping edit us down you guys absolutely rock uh okay so we just did peacemaker season two
episode two.
John, I'm coming over to you first.
I know that you felt like episode one felt like an episode two.
Now after watching episode two, how are you feeling?
Pretty good.
I'm, I think, ready for, like, the doors to come off.
I do like, you know, the reformation of the team as it stands, you know, at least for that
brief moment we get a little bit of the levity and the just relief of like, oh, the
gang's all back together again.
But I am excited now that it seems like, as of the very end of this episode,
we're going to really jump into the true game of the season, hopefully.
But yeah, this was a fun episode, a really good way to introduce Tim Meadows.
It was kind of the biggest thing I got out of this,
and then, you know, fun, eagley fight scenes.
So, you know, solid episode.
Not like the heights of peacemaker for me, but pretty good.
Orgy stuff was your favorite again, this one.
Uh-huh, definitely, yeah.
Figure and figure.
I hope it comes back in episode three.
Greg, how are you vibing now that we're two episodes in?
I mean, look, I'm just always happy to be in the peacemaker world,
even if I do agree with John.
I'm like I'm ready for like some kind of clear-cut direction, I suppose.
I like the idea that it feels more, is ruminatoria word?
Ruminating.
It's very reflective.
It's like these characters are reflective, and it's a little,
more exploratory and taking its time more like if you do if you were to compare it to like season one it
starts season one starts off with a clear cut direction peacemakers recruited for some secret type of
mission we have no idea what and we're going to slowly unpack that mystery while getting into our
characters along the way whereas here you know you got like harcourt's lost in life um chris is
lost in life argus is going after chris for personal reasons and what's going to happen when they
open up this interdimensional door and then what's Chris going to so like there's a lot of like this
still felt like they were setting up stuff you know we're two episodes in and it still feels like
we're setting stuff up that's not exactly bad um it's just kind of weird for a season two to be
like two episodes in and still be like we're still setting shit up um but the what we got i really
enjoyed like my sometimes i feel like the banter can be a little bit like uh what do we do to
make it seem like these characters have personality let's do that
James Gun banter and a lot of time I love that and sometimes it feels a little off but you
liked it when they were giving the names to the characters outside you liked that moment but
sometimes when we were inside and they were giving the banter in the van you were like yeah it doesn't
it just it just feels like you know the it feels like generic James gun banter honestly
it doesn't feel like I'm these characters have any distinct personality at least like when
the our main characters are bantering it still feels
than the characters, even with Tim Meadows, his character, his dialogue feels more specific,
whereas, like, everything else just kind of feels a little bit more like, yep, this is the banter.
But that's really minute compared to everything else that I really liked about this episode.
Because, like, it starts off with the setup of Rick Flagg and this, like, motivation we're going to go after him.
I thought we were going to book him that, but we didn't.
That's what I mean, like the presence of that kind of gets lost.
Like, it's a good setup, but then it kind of gets lost, even though it's, you're reminded of it a little bit.
but it doesn't feel like it permeates throughout the episode,
even when they are reminding you.
But, you know, like the heart moments with heart court.
And, yeah, it feels, that's what I meant by, like, it ruminates more.
It feels more intimate still on the character moments.
And, yeah, I still thought there were some hilarious moments.
And I love the, I love Eakley.
I love Miss Amigla.
I love the Eagli.
I got to kick some serious ass.
And that was a really fun fight.
and Tim Meadows is
is so freaking funny
anytime a guy shows up anywhere
so he just kills it
and I think he's an excellent
contribution to this cast
and such a different counterpart
to um
was the actor's name
in uh he was in
he was high evolutionary he was the
oh chakudia would you yep
hour time remember that name
uh I mean he's a very different type of person
to be yeah very different type of person
to be leading and uh yeah
How are you feeling, though?
Are you enjoying it?
This show just works for me on so many fronts because, number one, as I always say,
I'm a lover of love, shiperships, and I find that oftentimes in shows like these,
the love stories take a back seat.
They don't really care about it, but I do feel like it is at the center of this,
and it probably will be for the most of the season.
I also really care about family dynamics, the sibling relationship,
the parental relationship, and that's stuff that we're not just seeing with Peacemaker,
but we're also seeing the dynamic between different couples,
different father-son, the loss of a son,
that, you know, there's just a lot of different character building.
Plus, this show is action-packed.
I like that we had that entire Eagley action sequence.
I think that it breaks up for a 40-minute show.
It makes it fly by because we've got all the character building,
but then we've also got these sick action sequences that look awesome.
So I'm really excited to see where the rest of this season goes.
I hear what you guys are saying, though, about setup.
And I wonder if it's because they are so committed to this being a DC show now.
And so it has to do a little more heavy lifting about what that means for this show's place in this world, in this universe, as opposed to the previous season of Peacemaker, which really kind of just minded its own business until we had that Ezra Miller and Mamoa scene.
but like, and a little bit Waller stuff, but just saying that here I feel like Gunn now has this big vision,
Gunn and Safran have this big vision, this big world.
And so I wonder if a lot of the setup is about kind of how the logistics of these universes work and this pocket dimensions and the science behind that and who's relevant where.
Like obviously we're really pulling Rick Flagg in.
we're forgetting about Amanda Waller, at least temporarily.
So a lot of it might be about bigger future plans.
Here's what I think I think you said something that just kind of hit the nail on the head
as you were talking about being like character-driven.
I feel like the plot, like the actual plot,
I don't feel like is as engaging as it maybe could be.
Like it's engaging, but I'm not as swept up in the actual plot.
but the character-driven narrative scenes
are just so strong to me
that when that's on screen
like anything with hardcore
or anything hardcore and Chris
I like seeing how like
you know they're tiptoeing towards each other
but then she pushes him away
and him with his
you know vice addictions and stuff
and even looking at how the multi like the characters
are so feel like they're even more well-known
like to do that it's impressive to me
that they can do a time jump
and then you could still see where each one of them is that right down out of bio
with going to see her ex-girlfriend and the realism of just feeling like she can walk in there
and then the difference in that how they're viewing their breakup all those scenes i think are
so great and they're there ultimately if you're watching a television show the investment in
the character should outweigh everything so like the character-driven narrative is is so strong
and it's such a spotlight that I'm still in love with the world.
I'm still in love with the show because of that.
And I guess I'm kind of waiting just for the plot itself
to come a little bit more, you know,
put his foot on the gas a tiny bit.
On that plot front.
A Reject Nation.
You know it doesn't belong in your epic summer moving into fall plans?
Getting burned by your old wireless bill.
While you're planning barbecues, beach days,

mint mobile for preserving quality but saving us money how do you guys feel about the fact that we don't
ultimately get a lot of payoff from the setup this episode of we are breaking into
Peacemaker's House in order to find something, but instead what happens is we find nothing
and we don't really move forward. We don't even see Peacemaker ultimately realize that
anybody has broken into his place. So did that work for you, John, or do you feel like,
because obviously the next episode we could have all these realizations. How did you feel
about the plot this episode? The plot was interesting. I mean, I would agree that
Yeah, like I was less enthralled by the things that are like,
ooh, about world building or about like, you know,
I kind of forgot about Rick Flagg after the one time we see him.
And even them breaking in, I thought made for a cool opportunity to get an eagerly action scene.
I almost feel like I'll, I'm kind of jury out until we see some more of them
because it almost felt like, okay, we'll have an action scene here.
And it makes sense for them to want to break into his interdimensional portal.
but they're not successful
so it doesn't really amount to much
in the immediate moment
and I mean it's cool that they're not dead
I'm excited to see some more of them
but the like
the plotting itself doesn't feel
like it's found like a specific momentum
or like a specific direction
other than toward that door somehow
but I like that it eventually
it's like you know Chris finds his way in there
at the end and decides to go take the plunge into the alternate
you know better world so to speak kind of independent of all that stuff so i guess i'm curious to see if
it amounts too much more as we go along that seems mainly motivated by his love for hardcore
yeah totally which is cool because do you think as opposed to like his desire to be accepted
and loved back in general you think it's specific about her i think all that is there but i think
what he's really searching for is he wants love and connection and i think
at the end of the day, hopefully by the end of the season, I think he will find that in his actual
world with Hart. He could find that in his actual world with Amelia Harcourt. And so that's why
I think the final thrust to him going over there was like on his own volition outside of just
curiosity was due to, I mean, he's been pulled over there a couple of times. Yeah. But I'm not
I'm not sure. I mean, you brought that up a couple of times. Is it like something that's kind of
Are you dissuade by that?
What, what do you mean?
Like the setup of like Rick Flagg at the beginning, the eight months ago,
and then not really getting much of a payoff to that here?
No, I honestly, I can't tell fully where you guys are at,
but I think that this is working like even the best for me of all.
I loved this episode.
I loved it.
Oh, you did too.
Most part I loved it.
So, no, I'm not dissuaded by it.
Disuade?
Diswade.
I don't know.
I was kind of like spinning that out, but I wasn't even sure if it's a real word.
No.
I've heard it.
Is it, John?
Disuaded?
I mean, dissuade is a word.
It's the opposite of persuade.
Good.
I haven't been dissuaded.
You haven't been deterred by the episode.
I've not been deterred.
John persuaded us to believing this is a word.
I do think it's interesting to be like six months later, eight months earlier.
Like, that is interesting.
And I think they're laying a lot of groundwork again for an entire universe and has to make sense in a timeline of the DCU.
Because we've seen Rick Flagg and other projects now.
We've seen them in two other projects now.
So, yeah, I think, no, I definitely don't feel like that.
But I'm most interested.
I don't usually care that much about things like that.
What I care about is, oh, my God, she texted him back.
She wrote, hey, and then she did a heartbreak emoji.
And I wondered to myself, what happened, and how could he possibly fake figuring that out?
Like, he's almost going to have to say he had amnesia or something.
Like, he's been gone and something happened.
I mean.
Well, they're broken up in that world.
Right.
yeah well i i imagine that when he goes to this world it looks perfect and it feels perfect but then he's
gonna discover like nothing's actually perfect we got a reference of a girl named karen and then
we know that she for the first episode i believe that they said her his brother said that she's with
jarhead some jarhead you know what i think is okay that's probably what's missing for plot is like
i don't know if it's missing but um because i was trying to think like what was it about like season
I'm not here like comparing it when I'm actually when I'm actively watching it I was just comparison is the thief of joy Greg god damn right it is um it is that there's no I don't feel like there's a mystery to the plot not that this show needs to be mysterious but I think that was part of the hook with with like what is going on and the mid and there's not really like that like we know what the butterflies or do you mean with like Amanda Waller being her the mom of the Tobio or yeah yeah I mean it was like the butterfly.
as we encounters in the first episode
when it ends with
how he sleeps with that woman
ends up being a butterfly
and there's a lot of unpacking
of like what's really going on here
what's actually happening
and there's no real mystery hook
and that is
if anything it feels a little bit more akin
to the tone and flavor
of Guardians of the Galaxy 2
if we're comparing James Gunn's other work
where it doesn't really like
oh I guess there's like a mystery here
on the back burner that we're not fully aware of
but it's going to be more
like an intimate portrayal
of our main character
who finally feels like he's finding a home of love,
like similar to Star Lord, finding his dad and shit.
And it seems like there's kind of a pattern there with our characters, you know.
Before we get out of here, because we usually do take questions for the patrons,
but because we are pre-tapping these, we are unable to take questions for them.
I'm going to ask my own question to you guys,
because I just don't know since I didn't do season one with you,
do you have a number one favorite character?
to you as well, Greg
Golly
I know it does change
It's such a strong ensemble, yeah
I didn't know if you guys were last season
definitive with somebody
or if it's kind of rotating
I'm a boring guy
I tend to be like lead character
I often gravitate towards the lead character
and I want to come up with like a clever
answer and sometimes it is someone like we're watching severance um and it's um you started
yeah yeah and he and he's like oh my favorite character i love watching is what is his name the
fucking the black guy who is oh milchick milchick i'm like oh man he's fucking awesome yeah so that's like a case
where like adam scott i love but i'm more drawn to him but yeah when i watch piecemaker
i'm like yeah it's definitely peacemaker uh is my favorite i think that's totally fair answer and hardcore
was uh my second favorite i think she's my favorite yeah she's pretty great
There's a lot.
Awesome.
I love Adrian Chase, too.
Scene Steeler for sure.
I mean, honestly, like, I really enjoyed having Atabio as the eyeline in season one,
and she's a great character.
And, like, you know, that if I had, you know, because, yeah, like, Chris,
they managed to take him and make him very interesting in the first season.
But, yeah, I think she was my favorite character the first time around,
especially of, like, the new ensemble, because I really liked both her vibe, her spirit,
but also the stuff they gave her to work with as a character.
And, you know, I'm glad she's still here.
I'm looking forward, hopefully, to her being more of a focal character again,
because it's, again, I was really happy to see the group back together.
It seems like the kind of season of where that might not happen,
and I'm not going to be mad if it doesn't.
Does the actors be busy?
Maybe.
Is that the case?
I don't know.
Is Danielle Brooks on other stuff?
Probably they stay booking.
Right now it's feeling like the Chris and hardcore show.
Yeah.
Yeah, I know, and that is not the vibe of last season.
No.
I didn't think it was like the Christian Edibio show last time.
Yeah.
And then the other characters were the ensemble you got to know over time.
But like, I guess we don't know who Edibio is in the other universe, though.
Maybe that's Karen.
She's not gay.
He's hooking up with her.
No, because I didn't get this.
Oh, we don't know that they were hooking up.
He was like, did you call the girl?
I don't know.
Yeah, that's true.
Who knows?
I know nothing, John Snow.
Any other thoughts before we get out of here, guys?
Not for me, do you?
No.
Well, we'll be with you guys all season.
Thanks so much for watching.
Oh, hit me.
Bird blindness.
Very funny.
That's funny.
And him not being able to tell the size of what Eagley is.
That's not real, right?
I don't think so.
That is one of those things, too, that only Tim Meddles could pull off.
It's so crazy.
Because the joke, the banter of it was, like, amusing.
But then when it gets paid off with the Eakley fight, like, I can't tell how big this.
Damn, this bird blindness is so funny.
There's going to be more of that this season, as long as he sticks around.
We've got to see that again.
Well, thank you to you guys for not having reject blindness and checking this out with us.
And we'll see for episode three.
Later, rejects.
