Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the film finds Captain Jack Sparrow down on his luck until he's thrust into another supernatural conflict—this time against the vengeful ghostly Captain Salazar and his deadly crew, who have escaped from the Devil’s Triangle with one mission: to kill every pirate at sea, especially Jack. Notable moments include the jaw-dropping execution escape scene in Saint Martin, the visually stunning undead shark attack, Salazar’s eerie flashback origin story, and the emotional family reunion that ties together the saga’s legacy. With dazzling visuals, magical relics like the Trident of Poseidon, and callbacks to the original trilogy, Dead Men Tell No Tales delivers a mix of nostalgia, action, and fantasy that continues the high-seas legend of Jack Sparrow. Let's go to the movie.
We are watching this.
We bought it on Prime.
So let's go.
Three, two, one.
I clicked it.
All right.
Let's go to if you're listening to us on Apple or Spotify, don't forget to give us five stars. Leave a comment, leave a like,
do all the YouTube things, subscribe, and then ring the bell. So you're notified of all the videos.
I'm just going to our Patreon questions because as you guys know if you are a
Patron you get to send us questions
Let's do this
Robbie Bo parp pirous cool name. Hi guys. How's it going?
first fun fact and question.
Did you know that the origins of the beads Jack shows
in front of his bandana in the books
were him putting them together to break a curse of the hat?
In the extra DVD of the third movie was him buying it
with his second ever stolen coin of the compass
in the books and the comments was Tia Dalma trading
it with him.
That being said, that flashback where the other pirates just give those things to him
can ruin the continuity and your enjoyment of the movie like it did to me or it's something
that can be ignored and the movie is still great if you liked it?
Question mark.
Second fun fact in question apparently there are
three other pirate movies in the making that may or may not be a sequel without captain jack sparrow
a sequel focused only on jack sparrow a soft reboot sequel with a completely new cast with i-o adi
bery as captain and bonnie i don't know that is is. A female spinoff with Margot Robbie as well.
Oh wow.
Female spinoff with Margot Robbie.
There have been lots of rumors for different movies.
Would you enjoy reacting to them,
any of them in the future,
or would you be forced to do it for the channel
and us viewers keep up the good work
and ciao from Sardinia.
Ciao.
Okay.
Now, okay.
The beads part didn't bug me.
It didn't ruin my enjoyment of it,
but I do like that you were like,
oh, him trading it with Tia Dalma,
but still, I still thought that it was a nice little foundation.
I thought it was sweet.
So we didn't it did.
It definitely didn't ruin my enjoyment like it did for you.
Roby, hopefully I'm saying that name right.
And I actually did like this movie.
I I I thought that it was it was fun. I mean, did
that ruin it for you? Because I didn't put it I don't think I
put it together that the the beads that Jack shows in front
of his bandana in the books were putting them together to
break a curse of the hat in the extra DVD of the third movie was
him buying it. Okay, so you're saying in the books,
I didn't read the book. So this is why I didn't know that. So it didn't know I did. As far as
what was actually shown in the movies, this didn't break continuity. Yeah. And this is from
what I can remember us because we're just watching we and we're not watching like the extra stuff.
No, you get in the DVDs. No. And mean, yeah, I really, I really liked this one.
I liked this one a lot, actually.
It was a lot of fun.
And I think that it was a cool little tidbit
at the beginning there.
And as far as your second question goes,
I really am looking forward to more Pirates.
I think that it would be fun.
I think if they are going to do a spinoff focused solely on Jack, you do need
cat characters to counterbalance him.
I thought the last one was just okay.
Um, but I really liked this one.
Um, so yeah, I think that he needs people that are more grounded with more
heartfelt motivations to really, uh, bounce bounce off of because I think the thing
about Jack Sparrow is something I realized in this one.
I realized in the last one too without the app with the absence of the other two characters
of Elizabeth and Will Turner is that Jack is kind of a not a I won't say stagnant but
you can't change or allow Jack Sparrow to grow too much because the fun is the fact that he's like this drunk
Kind of belligerent debauchery is kind of dude
So you need people that do grow and do have you know strong foundations for motivations to allow him to still be himself
Otherwise it changes the character. So I
Yeah, I would be curious to see how they go about that.
As far as the other ones with, with Ayo, I would be down.
I love that actress.
Have you seen the bear?
Yeah, well, I mean, she's very, yeah, she's really good at, at improv specifically.
So I think that would be fun if they let her kind of go free.
I have really only seen her in the other independent movie
and she played very similar to who she plays in The Bear.
There wasn't a lot of like range that I saw there,
meaning she just seemed like the same.
Like she's bringing a lot of herself to the role,
but I don't know how malleable she is,
but I would love to see her as like not that awkward girl who sort of has different ways
that she delivers things.
That would be fun for me to see.
So I'm interested if she if that's a switch up and it would be cool to see her with Margot
Robbie because I would like to see her play something different and I haven't but it's
not like I've watched everything she's been in.
I've only watched The Bear and another indie that she was in
and she played more of the same character.
Was it Bottoms?
Yeah, I believe so.
Bottoms was great.
Yes, Bottoms was a fantastic movie,
but again, like, it totally highlighted her strengths,
which is that sort of like awkward ish improv
She's good at delivering like comedy too. Yeah, listen
I just want them to pay off the Penelope Cruz after credit scene and I want them to pay off the after credit scene of
This movie I want more Jack and Penelope Cruz. I want more Will Turner and
Elizabeth Swan and I liked it. I like the his son and I liked his love interest
Barbosa's daughter. I would love to see more of them as well. Let's get all of them in one pirate
adventure and and make it you know heartfelt make it fun. I think there's a way for us to do this
that doesn't feel overly crowded like the third movie and yeah I think I think there's a lot of
potential there so I'm down for spinoffs down for continuations and yeah I think I think there's a lot of potential there. So I'm down for spin-offs
down for continuations. And yeah, I think let's let's get it. Let's get more yo ho in a brewing.
And of course, we will be here to react to them when they do eventually come out.
Yeah, for sure. I would I would definitely love to see obviously Jack Sparrow on the screen. I mean,
he radiates a lot of comedy and joy and stupidity
and drunkenness and all the things that you just are like, oh yeah, a pirate's life for
me, let's go.
Because it makes it enjoyable to watch and you just never know what is going to happen
when he's there, right?
It's like you deal with the unexpected, which is fun.
So I specifically more in that the options that you gave us,
I would like to see a sequel with Jack Sparrow and a new cast.
I think that'd be a lot of fun because I would be very intrigued to see
how does he bounce off new people rather than going right back to Gibbs
or going like, you know, with his own crew,
or the fact that obviously he's not going to treat Henry too differently
because it's Turner's kid.
I would be interested to see.
I'm sure he would still be obviously the same Jack Sparrow.
No one's going to change him.
But I would be interested to see how he bounces off new characters.
I think that'd be a lot of fun.
So appreciate the thoughts and the questions.
Jay Rushton says, okay, rank the pirate movies of the series.
His is 12435.
Hmm.
Okay.
I think just based off of pure enjoyment levels. I would have to go
Let's go least favorite to favorite. So I'm sorry guys. I'm gonna okay. Yes favorite
Then four then five then one then two
I'm gonna go in the other order one two
five four three
Is that the same?
Four five two one you did it's the same no cuz I like two more than one oh
You did you like one more than two so that's the only difference
Classic oh wait, but two is when we introduce
one and Oh wait, but two is when we introduce Swann and, no, Swann and are introduced in the first one.
Yeah, Davy Jones is in, I think I'm still gonna go with one because I really like the old school vibe
of what happens like with the Brits
and then her with her dad and then meeting Orlando
and then Jack Sparrow.
Especially when we think that they're gonna have a romance.
Remember that?
Jack Sparrow and Swann?
That was just fun to me.
But they were teasing you.
She kissed him at the end of two.
He goes into the mouth.
I was like, oh my God.
It was a great cliffhanger,
and I really liked his motivations.
I liked Will's motivations in that.
I liked that Elizabeth Swann gained a sense of agency by going after Will and yeah
that stuff all just really worked really well for me but yeah one it's a classic
it's a very contained movie and yeah if you never got a spin-off then you know it
stands alone but I think these other ones are more reliant on spin-offs
especially two or more reliant on sequels especially two but yeah it's, just an experience, I think, yeah, two, one, five.
Because I just think this was so much fun,
and they brought back the energy.
And I don't know, there's something,
I don't know, I don't want to say cosmic,
it sounds too woo-woo, but I like that, you know,
history has a sense of repeating itself.
You know, Jack is kind of the stagnant dude,
but the fact
that his son, Will Turner's son, was after Will Turner. Like Will Turner was after his
dad and you know, it's this thing that's kind of full circle. Does it seem a little
convenient that you know, Barbosa's daughter also happens to be here? Sure. But I still
liked that. That was a fun little tie into the movie.
They're all looking for their dad.
They're all looking for their dad,
essentially at the end of the day.
It's fantasy, it's Yo Hoan, and yeah, it was just fun.
Yeah, I agree.
I'm sort of like, you know, Shansa,
who was like the real witch,
I'm interested to see like, if she were to come back,
like what more she could do,
because remember how to your god
Exactly because it was like she was there and she they made her in some scenes seem very
Like a parent that she's gonna do some juice here And then you do kind of forget about her
But I was gonna say when we saw Barbosa fall into the scene you're like he might not be dead
I was like you might be right cuz Tia Dalma because remember how she fall into the scene. You're like, he might not be dead. I was like, you might be right, cause Tia Dalma.
Cause remember how she turns into the big fricking.
The lip soul.
Yeah, like, and so I'm like, maybe she could save him.
I don't know, like pick him up, be like, I know you,
and then get a mermaid to kiss him.
And then he lives underwater.
Just following the lore there.
But I did think it was like a little odd
that we didn't see her like as much even though
She seemed like she was gonna be more important character. Yeah, I thought like I was like, what is this? What's gonna do?
Like especially when she we first go up to her she's during that gnarly like green juice. Well, I would have liked that to come back up
But I do like how they kept saying like with the Trident,
how they said like all must divide
and it gives you something to cling onto
because they said at least three times before we get there.
We're looking at the stars
and it gives the audience a little bit of something like,
what is the all must divide?
I was thinking about it the whole time thinking like maybe they find the treasure and they
have to split it and then they can get the trident.
It was totally wrong.
You just got to divide the trident.
But I still like that they add that in there and then it wasn't maybe it was as easy for
you guys to figure out like oh just break the trident but I didn't get there till the
end.
So I like that they added that in
of the almost divide like throughout.
And it got me thinking like, where are we gonna get the,
I guess the turn of the key that's like,
oh, here's the almost divide.
But I liked that the stone happened.
I thought that was a really cute emotional moment
when she takes the ruby.
He obviously left the ruby to give her a better life,
Barbosa says, and that is the missing star
that is needed, right, in that map.
And it was a very emotional and sweet moment
when she's like, do it for my dad.
And he's like, yeah, do it for him.
I thought that was real sweet.
I was like, ah.
So that's kind of where the heart set in for me.
And obviously when he says he calls her treasure
and then he sacrifices his life,
although we didn't really see him die die,
but our assumption is he's gone.
I like that part because there's no better way to go out
than saving your long lost orphaned daughter.
Yeah. Yeah, I think that was very noble of him. I think that was, yeah, he had all these riches and treasures and ships.
But at the end of the day, you know, if your offspring that, you know, has found her way back to you is in danger,
you do what you need to do. You do the sacrifice play.
And I think that, I don't know,
I think that felt good for him.
I was happy with that.
But hey, if Davy Jones can come fricking back,
Barbossa can come back.
Yeah, totally.
And like, I did like that they called, you know,
Captain Salazar, like the butcher of the sea,
so that we know when Salazar comes up to meet Barbossa,
even you said, you're like, he looks terrified.
And he actually did.
And we don't normally see that,
like with Barbossa or like David,
we didn't see a lot of like terrified action with them.
Obviously Javier Bardem is like a brilliant actor.
So I like the transitions.
I think mainly what I really liked
is the visuals in this movie.
I thought the special effects were great.
How they make the deadlock and how when fire hit them
and they would explode, it's like they evaporate.
I thought that was really cool to look at
as well as like their ship, how it opens up and basically becomes like
Chomps it like chopped the Brits. That was one of the coolest things I'd seen along with the shark
Thank you for the shark move. You know, I'm realizing shark move maybe you correct me if I'm wrong on this
Remember how I asked the one who watched the movie?
Why is why did Barbosa Barbosa take Jack because he cracked open the ship and then he put it in the water.
And then,
I don't know if, did Jack do anything significant
after that point?
Because I was like, oh, he's just kind of here
because the other guy hates him.
Because in the other movies,
Barbosa just took your ship and left his ass.
Right.
He did it twice.
Oh, yeah, I'll just take you.
Well, you can come along the plot, you know, you're.
Yeah, because I'm really trying to think here if there was anything very significant.
I mean, again, like I was saying, I was like, I think it's obviously the ties
to Henry, Henry and Karina.
And maybe it's because, you know, he did sort of save his daughter,
even though we didn't find that out till later.
Like, I get why I get why you need Karina there,
because she's going to help you get to the treasure.
Right. Jack was safe on land.
Plus, you're taking the ship.
You know, only narratively don't need Barb from Barbosa's point of view.
I don't think he needs Jack there because he doesn't have any information about it
That's gonna help them. The girl does also thought it was convenient that
Karina was in a jail cell and happened to have the moonlight like above her. Oh the blood moon. Yeah
I was like
Okay
Okay, now I'm thinking though that
Barbosa was using Jack as bait. He knew that Salazar wanted Jack and Jack, even though
he had his compass, he still was like after Jack. If you knew cells are wanted Jack, why
would you bring him with you to for him to follow? I'm with you. I'm with you. That was my one thought of like, well, can we use him as bait in going for the Trident?
I don't I don't know.
But I feel like that's not how it played out.
But that creates an extra obstacle for you.
Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm with you on it.
I did like, though, that they did bargaining because it's like they're such old school
friends. So even if he would he effed off in all the other films the conversation that they have where obviously Jack Sparrow knows that it's that's his daughter
And he says here's what I want right like give me my comes back and rum and and whatever else
What was the third thing?
I forget what he asked for but I do like that they had,
they sort of built that relationship.
Like they've known each other forever.
They're both like pirates, even though they've been divided.
Barbarossa kind of went with like the fancy bridge.
He loves his treasure for a minute,
but maybe it's cause he didn't really hate him that much.
It wasn't like, wow, we really gotta get rid of you.
At least not after the conversation when Jack is tied up
and Jack goes, I know that that's your daughter.
And then they talk.
But still, you guys will let us know if you're, you know.
Yeah, because I don't know, maybe they have
a love-hate relationship at this point.
The movie sort of implied they hadn't seen each other's in five years. Yes the last movie right so okay
Maybe soften up on him a little bit. Maybe he was just talking
Talking smooth to Salazar because he was like oh, yeah, I'll lead you to Jack like I don't care about him
Yeah, you can kill him, but then once he actually got there. He was like yo screw the cells our guy
We're gonna go find it. I'm gonna go find it myself, and I guess we'll take you with me
So I think so because he wanted to try it so bad
And I think it's just when Jack finally threw himself in between Henry and Karina
It made them like a trio that was like if we break Jack out of this then we probably won't get Karina and Henry
out of this, then we probably won't get Karina and Henry to cooperate maybe. Also, I'm sorry, I still think it's fucking dumb that Jack didn't try to break the ship
out for five years.
Like, oh, they left him because the man doesn't have a ship.
He literally has a ship in a bottle and all they had to do was break it.
Like this.
Oh man.
But wait, did Barbosa- Barbosa stabbed it. No, I know, but is Barbosa's sword
the one from the queen boat?
Does it have, cause I was like,
does it have to do with a sword?
Maybe.
I have a feeling that you couldn't just break it.
I think it had to be stabbed with that sword. He did say like a little like prayer
or like something before he stabbed it so maybe I don't know. I don't know. I need to re-watch the
scene and if we're missing information sorry guys we have to watch a movie talk while we're watching
it because that is how we get it here on YouTube. So yeah, if we missed information, sorry,
but yeah, let us know in the comments below though.
Like truly, I'm genuinely curious as to why that
had to happen there in that way.
I have a feeling it was the sword.
It's a thing.
Okay. Yeah.
But I can be totally wrong.
I could be.
It wasn't absolutely clear. I here's the thing. I don't
know if people when they're watching it are thinking, I mean, listen, we watch a lot of
movies and we try to call out the stuff that's like very obvious and like, ah, that's not
good storytelling because why would that be the case? So I, but it's been so long that I'm still not sure
if people, do people remember that the black pro is in the bottle and they see the bottle and are
they thinking why did he take so long? I don't know. I feel like they would, but then again.
Because in the last one, the Blackbeard had all the bottles.
And then I want to say his right, Jack's right-hand man took all the bottles, including the Blackbeard.
Yeah, I remember he had it over his back.
He had all the dead bottles.
On the island when he left.
But then we arrive at this island and they're building a boat.
They built that boat.
They must have taken forever to build that boat.
Remember?
The boat, the dying goal.
Ah, maybe.
Right?
They built that and yet he still had access
to the Black Pearl.
There has to be a reason why they would be like,
unless that wasn't a boat they built,
that it was just, they stole it and it's on that track and we gotta get out of there.
Yeah, I'm feeling more along the lines of that.
But to be fair, okay, so we're getting all in the frickin' nitty gritty of the continuity
here.
We're gonna get back to the movie in a second.
But I think that because Barbossa was the last official captain of that ship when it was taken from him by
Blackbeard is why.
See the sword.
Exactly.
Yeah.
See?
That's gonna be my headcanon for that.
Otherwise it doesn't make sense.
Yeah, I think that's that's gotta be why.
That's gotta be why I was like it has to do with the sword and like the fact that there's
some juice there.
So whatever you guys can can let us know.
I will say that I did like how often the theme music came in and this one it made it a lot
of fun.
We lacked that I think a lot in some other ones but this one it really came in and I
loved it.
The vault was very fast and furious which which I really love, but there's a house attached, whackadoo wild.
When the bridge takes off the house
and it just reveals the vault, awesome.
The visuals in this were great.
I love the music.
Obviously, I never have any issues with any of the actors,
even like the kid, great.
Even the CGI on like making Jack Sparrow Younger
didn't bother me.
I thought it was good.. I thought it was good. Like
I thought it was good. And the the post cred, the most fun though is that we get to see
like Turner and Swan together and like kissing and then his son and his son's like, hmm,
future ex wife are looking on. It's sweet. It's sweet. That's all I got to say. I did. Yeah, that's
what I thought. I that's what I say for everyone. I'm like, oh meet your future X. Just because I
think it's fun. It is funny. Yeah, so I like this one. I thought I thought it was fun.
And we'll see if they if we get three other ones, we'll we'll be here
watching them on the channel.
Yeah, that's us.
I thought the British were kind of an afterthought in this one.
Yeah, they just got a guy.
And then they got a.
That was the coolest scene, though.
That was awesome.
But finally, I was like, yeah, get them out of here
They're always coming in and being like pirates go after them kill them and I'm like, yeah great
Finally, right like because it's been every movie. They've kind of been a pain in the ass. Yeah, I mean they were
Yeah, cuz it was the the other company like the British like trading company in the first three and then it was the other company, like the British trading company in the first three.
And then it was the actual royalty in the fourth one.
So this one exactly.
Yeah, this one felt familiar, but I guess this was more directly connected to England.
But, you know, I mean, I'm happy they bid it, you know, they didn't really have any
standout characters like the first three movies did on the British side of things.
So yeah, they're just there because they're a staple in the Pirates movies.
But yeah, I think this one was a lot of fun.
It is flawed for sure, but I definitely had a good time.
I had a lot of sequences I really enjoyed.
The shark sequence was freaking dope.
The guillotine scene was dope.
Yeah, you're right about that.
The way the cameras were shot was used and kept going up and down. That was dope. Yeah, yeah, you're right about that. The way the cameras were shot, yeah.
It was used and kept going up and down. That was cool. Yeah, just some creative uses, some
creative usages of CGI and interesting set pieces. The one you talked about, those are kind of
mocking or not mocking, reminiscent of the Fast and Furious Fast Five. Oh yeah, the vault. Yeah.
The vault scene. And I liked the finale.
I thought the finale was really cool.
And yeah, just the part of the seas.
I liked the look of the Trident.
And yeah, I thought this one was fun.
Is it a perfect film?
No, but I had a good time watching it.
I'm sure this would have been cool in 3D.
Yeah.
Yeah, cause it had a lot of cool sequences.
It did. And I also liked Harvey Arbor Dam as a villain Yeah, because it had a lot of cool sequences. It did.
And I also liked Harvey Arborette Dam as a villain.
I thought he was a lot of fun.
I liked his effects on him.
I liked the way that his crew looked.
I liked the way that his ship looked.
Just all around, just freaking dope.
Yeah, they did some good work on this.
Like they obviously took their time and the effects and all that.
Are you going to look up some trivia real quick?
Are you going to do Rotten Tomatoes or?
I'm going to do Rotten Tomatoes.
Okay, yeah, perfect.
Okay, I'm gonna guess critics...
71, and then I'm gonna guess audience was a 79.
Okay.
You say audience was 79?
Yeah.
Okay, I'm gonna say audience first.
Audience is actually 60. Oh okay. What do you say for critics? I said 71. 71? Yeah.
Is it like 50? So it's so it is 71. It is? Minus about 41. Oh. It's a 30%. That is a rotten tomato. That is green AF dude. Yeah. Wow. Okay. I
kind of okay. Yeah. That's crazy. Okay. That is that's deep. to see why people hate this movie. I need to know.
Yeah.
This is not anywhere nearly.
It was not.
I've watched way worse movies both in life and on the channel.
This is not.
I bet you it's the book readers like that.
Robbie was like all this stuff and it ruined the movie.
The enjoyment for him.
So maybe it's tell us is it the book readers or is it the movie goers?
I mean J.Rustin also thought it was a five he thought is the worst one.
Yeah he did.
I didn't I just yeah well.
I think it's messy but I think it's fun.
Yeah and like the freaking shark thing is so cool.
But again I love I love me some dinosaurs and some sharks are my favorite thing.
Seeing that was awesome.
And I've really loved Salazar's ship, eating the breads.
I thought that looked so freaking cool.
So I don't know, you guys let us know why people hate it.
We didn't hate it.
We enjoyed ourselves.
We hope to see you on the next things.
We appreciate you.
Tell us we're cool, I guess if you wanna and
We hopefully we'll see you on the next one
Bye
Delia Chamberlain
From catching up with you last time you are the individual who I can see one day just saying screw it.
I'm leaving. I'm gonna set sail across the world.
I see.
I could totally see you doing that. You deserve a grandiose adventure in your life where you are just traversing everywhere.
Your sweet soul deserves to be spread across this this divisive birth And I think the first place you would set sail to as you travel the waters would be teal one
Yes, go down TJ. He'll wanna get some dental surgery get the back pain fixed get all things out of the way
Dbx extended surgeries for I'm not saying you need any of these you don't but you know
It would just be good to get it out of the way because It costs like $25 down there to do it all why not so you just get them all done
You break your shins that way you could be taller
I believe you would have a banger of a time on top of that too you get pissed drunk for the first time in your
Life you love which makes it great with all the meds. He told me about and then
Yeah, you could become a literal walking human Jack Sparrow
Which would be awesome the perfect person to set sail across the world because after Tijuana where would you go next?
Oh my god, you could go anywhere you could go to the Pacific Islands
You could go to South America. You'd be back in South America. I suppose you could go to Australia
There's some place. You could go to the Bermuda Triangle find out the mysteries. Oh, man. There's so much you can do
But I would just go back to Tijuana and get more free surgery
Or get it get a peg leg and then you know, yeah
You can oh my god, you get a peg leg you get a third ass. You get a third ass
You can instead of yeah getting an eye patch, you can have an extra eye.
See how full would that be, man?
Yeah, oh my goodness gracious.
Adelia, your future's looking dark and bright,
and I can't wait to see what's in store for you.
Something great and terrible.
Love it.
Love you.
