Starting point is 00:01:00 A massage chair might seem a bit extravagant, especially these days, eight different settings, adjustable intensity, plus it's heated, and it just feels so good. Yes, a massage chair might seem a bit extravagant, but when it can come with a car, suddenly it seems quite practical. The all-new 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, packed with premium features like available massaging front seats, it only feels extravagant. Terror, are you ready for the spook or are ready for a scare? I'm real ready. Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Let's do it. Three, two, one. Out! I'll just say it right now, this one is probably the top of my list. Whoa. Out of all of them, I loved this film. Out of all the predators, out of all the movies and the whole wealth franchises. in the franchises.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Like over Alien, over Predator? Not over it. Sorry. Over the Predators, this was my favorite. Over the Predator. Alien is still will remain like up there. These are two different films. But with in regards to the Predator films, this is the top of my list.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm thinking about it. For me, it's, It's tough because as we were watching the finale, I was like, okay, like, is this? Because this is on par with the level of investment of like, okay, Arnold finally going against the predator and then her going against the predator. And I'm like, it's like neck and neck for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:44 But I think like, if I'm being honest, guys, like, again, this is our first time watching all of these. I'm like, as someone who didn't grow up with the franchise, I gotta say this was the best one, dude. Like, it's prey. Predator like right here. Yeah, I agree. Because I love the first predator, too. Yeah, it's this one, Arnold Predator, and then Adrian Brody's Predators for me as far as the order goes. Also, you want to go listen to us on Apple or Spotify, give us five stars, and make sure you go to rejagnation shop.com so you can get your Cheech's merch and you get a chesty shirt.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah. To have them all over there. And yeah, go support the Rejects. This movie's great. This movie was fantastic. I loved every minute of it. It is rooted in character. And it takes its time.
Starting point is 00:03:34 It's patient. It's beautifully shot. And it's creatively directed. Yeah. Yeah, Tara. I mean, I think that I love A24 films. We don't watch a lot of those on here. They give an indie feel.
Starting point is 00:03:51 A24 allows like writers, directors, producers to make what they want to make. And I always say in every reaction that I do if it's written and directed by the same person if it's written directed and produced by the same people it tends to be a great film because they brought from on the page to the screen we're able to fill out fulfill like their dream of how they want it to look this was not produced by the same director and writers but he did direct it and he had a hand in writing it which makes a big deal and the reason i say a 24 films is because they go a lot slower and they know how to tell a story
Starting point is 00:04:27 without a bunch of exposition and dialogue, which we don't need. Really, what we needed is just to see these epic shots of her just like going through with her dog and then, yes, of course, leading up to the fights that she has with the predator and even with the bear. But again, not a lot of dialogue. You're showing us without like all of this talk. And I love movies like that. And then when they do talk, it really means something.
Starting point is 00:04:55 like when the brother finally spoke um i mean even when he spoke in the beginning he was like listen you're not ready i had to carry you back but then at the end he's like just remember to tell it this is as far as you go this is it this is the end and then he brought there was three callbacks with that line because he said this is as far as i go this is it he dies and then the callback with the third line this is as far as you go she says it to the predator i love that kind of writing because all of the words are important. There's important callbacks. It means something.
Starting point is 00:05:31 And this movie has not only heart, but amazing stunts. They have a one shot where they're doing a choreographed fight scene, and they don't cut out of it. And if they do, they hide it with the whip cut, and you really can't tell. And I don't know if it was just a quick whip to the weapon and back. I think it was, and I think it was still in a one shot because the camera is a little bit wobbly. it's hard to do that on a on a handheld and keep it straight but i think they did just such a wonderful job in telling this story which is why i'm comparing it to an a 24 films because i think that they're also brilliant and tell a story without with a great picture and this gave us like art
Starting point is 00:06:12 in in those wide scope master shots which i loved i i mean for me i'm just like pray hell yeah thank you for this movie yeah no out of all the movies we've watched but between both those franchises and where they intersect. This is definitely within the top, like, five for me out of all of these films, if not the top three. And it's so funny watching this directly after watching a movie we didn't care for so much with The Predator because I feel like a movie like The Predator was trying to do too much and had too many characters and was trying to, like, force all these jokes.
Starting point is 00:06:47 Whereas this movie really takes it back to basics, really has a simple premise and makes it all about heart, character, and atmosphere. It really is able to establish where we are and what our motivations are in a way that doesn't feel spoon-fed, but allows you to feel the effect and put you into the shoes of our main character and really gets you to care about her, her relationship, her mission, her training, her failures, and her successes. You know, you're reading for her the entire time, every step of the way. and it was able to do that while feeling weirdly like an indie film and I never thought I would see that like a predator indie film but it finds a way to do it in a way that is super accessible and I think anybody can enjoy this movie like it's not it's not trying to be a horror movie it's not trying to be something that's super lore dumpy it's just wants to tell a
Starting point is 00:07:52 story, a simple story about this girl who wants to prove herself to her tribe, to prove that she's more than what people perceive her to be. And it also has this great thing of the constant motif of like the cycle of life, of the prey and the predator and the different versions and levels of that through, through earth. I think that one scene encapsulates that perfectly with the ant and then the mouse and then the snake and then the predator and then you know we see the bear and then the predator and it just had all of that throughout it and i feel like it was very much focused on that and do these franchises does this franchise have a habit of having like an ensemble with predator one predators and um i guess technically the predator sure it does and
Starting point is 00:08:45 maybe you know they the other movies wanted to repeat some of that that that synergy and some of that success because they believed it to be that but i think there's nothing wrong i think it's a it's a benefit to the movie the fact that it isn't trying to be like any of the other movies it really just takes the premise of a predator and someone going against the predator and making that um making that that conflict and building up that conflict the central thing of the movie whereas with something like the first one or the other ones you don't know who's going to shake out who's going to live or die or whatnot but it centers that in like this the cool thing about this is that even if it wasn't a predator movie just the simple premise of girl having to go through a trial and overcoming a beast is something you could do like in any culture and without the sci-fi elements and it still works the same it doesn't explicitly need to be that. that but because it is its own story while not trying to it gives nods in respects to the original films of the ones that came out in the 80s and the 90s um the first two predators
Starting point is 00:09:55 but doesn't do it in a way where it feels force it those those nods feel like additions rather than um than necessities it it enriches it in a way that doesn't compromise the story that we're we're telling now it's just like the thing about the If you've never seen Predator 1 or 2, that would mean nothing to you. You're like, oh, cool, pretty gun. But the fact that that is there, that's like something cool for the fans. And, yeah, I really respect the hell of this movie for being a character-driven story, for being about atmosphere, for wanting to do something smaller and more intimate.
Starting point is 00:10:33 And it isn't trying to be this lore dumpy thing. Like, we get to see a different type of predator, something that is more, um, feels more native in a setting that feels more native in a um not geographically what's the word um i i guess and then not so technologically advanced like modern day or like kind of setting i feel like the the predator that we had for this movie was appropriate for the time period it took place in and made the odds of her overcoming it feel um tangible and believable and believeable and when because you you i never question for a second if like if this is actually what would happen like oh because you really do this like every the way that they played everything out i was like yeah
Starting point is 00:11:24 i totally buy this and that's that's that's incredible that's that's the directing strength that's the writing strength because we watched something like boy hold brook in the last one he's just getting thrown around when the predators just slicing people up left and right i was like my suspension of disbelief is gone but this movie allowed us to stay within that which only made the tension even greater. Yeah. Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that I have
Starting point is 00:11:53 been using since before we partnered with them, which just makes my job easy, and I just get to share with you something I really do love, and that is the Acorns app. Because money's involved, I researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be legit, right? You can find so many positive reviews on them. There's one person here. Day themselves gave me a very positive testimony about how it helped. get them out of a bind once that they were in. And I can say that, you know, I don't want to actually
Starting point is 00:12:17 show my, but I have the app just as evidence. Because one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing. That's something that I think is really important. It's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who doesn't have a 401k who really does need to invest money. So that way I don't have to just work for money, but have money grow for me. It's an absolutely amazing start. The best part is you don't need a lot of money to do it. You can literally start with your spare change. They make it easy to automatically start saving and investing for you, your future, your retirement, your kids, whatever it may be that you want to invest money for. Like I say, you don't need a lot of money. You don't even really need expertise, which is the best part.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Acorns recommends an expert built portfolio that fits you and your money goals. Then automatically invest the money for you. So it takes a lot of this stressful decision-making fatigue out of the process. I just love how I can let it do its thing and then I can just check it with my half like a month later, a couple months later, see how they're awesome dollar roundup or whatever my money investments I've gone into. Literally, it's just awesome to see it grow. Plus, now you can open an Acorns later IRA and get up to a 3% match on new contributions. So it's extra money for your retirement. Cannot stress it enough. It's made investing, especially as a jumping off point, super easy, super stress-free, super straightforward. It's all about small steps today making a big
Starting point is 00:13:35 impact on your future. Because from Acorns, Mighty Oaks do grow. Grow your Roke. So you can head at acorns.com slash rejects or download the Acorns app and start saving and investing for your future. There's a link in the description box and pin comment. A little disclaimer too, I got to say because it's, you know, finances involved. Payton on client endorsement. Compensation provides incentive to positively promote Acorns, investing involves risk. Acorns advisor, LLC and SEC, registered investment advisor, view important disclosures at acorns.com slash rejects. I highly recommend this app, so please go ahead, download it.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Thank you again. I mean, you've seen her fails in this movie. They did a good job of setting her up. Like when we see her with the bear, her brother does believe in her. She goes on the hunt, but she fails at killing the cat. She goes back home. She goes back out again and she fails at killing the bear. And then that's when she comes in close proximity with it.
Starting point is 00:14:22 And because we've seen her fail twice, it puts us on edge because we've seen her solo in hunting. It's kind of like a Rambo moment. She gets out of there. Then ties her when we see her like with her acts, we know she has it in her. but it's like every kind of hero needs to go through like a fail moment and they did a good job of showing us that I think the biggest criticism from the last one was I mean I said cut out a bunch of those characters and just leave us with a couple so that there's a type of camaraderie to where they to where we and the audience care which is what they did with her and her brother and we didn't need a lot we don't need a lot they didn't spend 20 to 30 minutes on a relationship with her and her brother they just knew how to deliver it I'm not saying that you have to write six pages to build it up. It doesn't have to be what aliens was, a great camaraderie, and they're sitting around the table talking, and we all love it. This is a different thing where we just,
Starting point is 00:15:18 we got their relationship rather quickly. And we got that he believed in her, especially in their group. And then they're like, you need to go back home. And he's like, she should stay. She's good at these things. And hey, this is your chance to prove it. And then when we see them go out to when he goes to save her and he kind of makes the sacrifice, it's a great, it's a great callback line that she uses, you know, his lines that he said to her, she uses it on the predator and it's just, it's really, really great writing. And I think that what this movie makes you feel is so important because I haven't felt a ton in the last predator movies that we've watched they've been fun with good kills and some good fights and good effects and all that but
Starting point is 00:16:12 this movie had all of it and that's what i'm always looking for in a great movie i want it to have all of it and um i don't think it needs to have a bunch of characters and a bunch of explosions and that we need to see the predator without the mask on 10 times at least it's not about that this movie's a great example yeah so yeah yeah i loved it um do you want to do some A little trivia? Yeah, sure. Let's look it up. Let's do some trivoli.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Yeah, man. I'm just going away. I'm, again, saddened by the fact that because Predator, I don't know why The Predator turned out the way it did. Or like, because they had some of the weird editing and it just had, it was trying to, what's the word, not simulate, like fabricate, like, like force this, this, this. ensemble kind of thing whereas this movie wasn't trying to be funny it was just rooted in light in in hardened atmosphere and i just think that is the way to go you know the first one did that very well with arnold back in that 87 and i hope that they make a pray too or like follow something along the lines of this maybe see the predator in another time period and see another
Starting point is 00:17:30 warrior go against him and just because i feel like a premise like this where you're taking the the concept of the predator and moving it through different locations is great. You know, I feel like it's, in theory, it should be challenging to mess up a predator movie. But again, we've seen it down a couple of times. Yeah, we have. But, you know, I think this gives me hope for whatever they want to do next with this franchise. And yeah. Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Okay, so the Rattlesake could see the predator while it's seen visible as, waltzed invisible as a rattlesnake has pits on its head that allow the sake to sense heat and track prey through its thermal radiation signature, much like The Predator. That's pretty cool. During an interview with the slash film, director Dan Trachenberg mentioned the film's creative team struggled with what he called the hunt for Red October 1999 thing, where the characters speak Russian before transitioning into English. He said they never quite came up with a way to make that work. So instead, the film was shot in English and Comanche. Both languages are spoken, but when you hear English, it's as if it's Comanchee, he said.
Starting point is 00:18:40 But what Jane is speaking to is on Hulu. There will be a Comanche dub of the movie. So you can watch the entire movie in Comanchee with the original actors returning to perform their roles. In an interview with the Empire, he also said there's a lip match, choosing words to match the actor's mouth. We know what that means. I don't know why they add that in there that we do now. be like watching old kung fu movies um got it so that's cool you can watch that was a very long trivia but basically saying you can now watch it in full comanche um though still advanced
Starting point is 00:19:15 the technology used the feral predator is much simpler than previous films yeah the camouflage sections are larger less armor and the hud is very streamlined and simplistic agreed oh this a cool one of feral predator's biomask is made from the skull of a river ghost from Predators, 2010. Huh. Oh, those dog, those dog things. Yeah. Cool.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I like that. When Nauru says, do it, it's a throwback to Arnold Schwarzenegger's line. Do it, do it now from the original predator. Nice. I'll read one more. Seri, Nero's dog, and Constant Companion had no previous movie experience. Wow. And was adopted specifically for the movie only two months before shooting.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Sorry, his real name is Coco, and she's a Carolina dog, a rare breed of wild dog that followed the first humans to cross the Bering Strait 4,500 years ago. Trajanburg wanted to cast a dog that would be period accurate, and Carolina dogs are direct descendants of those dogs. Amber, mid-thunder, Nauru, called Coco a little bit of a hot mess, but in a sweet way, and said that, obviously, it all ended up fine because she was great and everybody loves her. Wow. I'm very surprised by that. I thought that it was definitely a dog that had been in training a lot longer than that. But I love that. And I love that he wanted to stay within the period piece of having a Carolina dog in it. I'm like, that's such a specific thing that most people, when they're looking, I guess, and trying to pick apart a movie and looking for Easterrays. They're like, the Aussies wouldn't exist in 1719. And like now he's like, bro, this is this here. you go and i love that it's all the details man i love this movie i had a blast um it's definitely at the top of my my predator list is also at the top of my predator list thank you guys so much for joining us on this journey and until they release another predator alien thing we see you guys in the next one deuces
Starting point is 00:21:29 I feel bad. Why? Because she was in town. I was supposed to see her. You did nothing. And you made a point not to you. Like, how am I going to ever show my face to be a little? I was outside in the car looking out the window.
Starting point is 00:21:45 I was seeing her in the window getting her makeup on in front of the mirror and like trying to look on it. And I was like, do I go in? But then I had a moment of like, I'm not good enough for her. No. And then I drove off in my Camaro. Yes. Yeah, you're gas guzzling.
Starting point is 00:22:02 It's okay. That's not what happened. What happened is the day when someone didn't do something, and then it led to me working for 24 hours that day. And because of that, I just called her. I facetime with her, and I'm so sorry I didn't meet up with you. I still feel really bad about it. So I do promise that the next time you're in town,
Starting point is 00:22:27 I'm going to make it like clear the whole. A whole week. Clearly. A whole week. Spend 20 minutes. I will do. I am like determined for it. Let's face it.
Starting point is 00:22:37 I'm never going to your state. Oh, like, I'm going to impress it. You're going to come out here. I'll go to know. And I swear, we will hang out. It's going to be a party. Party Central. We're going to throw you apart.
Starting point is 00:22:48 If there's anyone who I know who loves the party, it's you. We're going to bring a lot of people to the party. A lot of people you don't know. To look you in your face and talk to your face. Yeah. I know you love that. It's going to be. a blasty blast. They're going to prey on your soul. Tied it back into the video. Oh, look out. It's relevant.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Adelia, I really love you. John tolerates you. I have. Olivia has no idea who you are. So I'm like, I'm going to go meet up with Adelia. She's like, who the hell's Adela? You're going to meet up with some random woman? And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to drive in my Camaro. Do you go meet up with her? And I'm going to be her prey. A stick shift. That's right. Camero. Yeah, sure. That's what it is And there we go
