This video is brought to you by AstuPro and Liquid Ivy.
Before we up into the video, just want to remind y'all that Greg, Coyandra, Michael Tesler,
and myself will be at WonderCon, the Sunday, March 31st, 2 p.m. in room 207.
Come say hey and check out our second annual apparel.
Are you ready?
I'm so ready.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, that was fun.
Oh my gosh.
Okay, yes.
I think it was fun.
You know, I will say that in the beginning,
I was really, I was taken aback by the cinematography.
Beautiful shots, like really every shot they put into it.
Just absolutely gorgeous.
From the beginning, I was like, wait, okay,
it's just about like water and like Rango.
And I was, it took me a little while to kind of like get into it.
But once it got to the end, I was like, oh, heck yeah.
Let's like, once it all came together, I appreciated like the whole story.
I still did enjoy myself a lot.
I thought some of the jokes in it were, I didn't laugh as I think as much as maybe they had hoped I would or as maybe was their intention for some of those jokes.
But I was really enraptured by the cinematography.
and the way they were shooting shots
are just the beautiful colors
and it really does make you want to go to the desert.
Like I was like,
this movie makes me want to go to the desert.
But I did love all of the characters in here.
And like I said, I really like the animation,
the way they drew the characters.
They really came to life.
They seemed really, really realistic.
And in that desert shot,
when they were like fighting for the water
that was not there.
That's Timothy.
The elephant.
Whoa, okay.
that I thought that that was shot really well.
It kind of reminded me of like just a regular sequence
that you would maybe see in Star Wars
but it's like with like bats and in the desert
and I like the way that they shot that a lot.
I thought that was very cool.
Yeah, what did you go?
What did you think?
I thought the movie was a lot of fun.
I thought it did a really good job
at kind of displaying this desert scenario
and just the,
the way that that story would kind of play out uh i let like from the beginning i was very
enraptured and just like engrossed and like the animation style and how detailed it was i was not
expecting that going into this movie and from there yeah i mean i i thought it was funny it wasn't
the most hilarious movie i've ever seen but it did make me laugh at points in the movie and yeah
it was just really creative i like the music uh i will say towards the middle it kind of
I wouldn't say like checked out completely,
but I was less engrossed in the story.
Yeah, me too.
Yeah, like the beginning I thought was really interesting.
I'm like, I don't know where this story's going,
but like it's just these tumbling of events that's kind of unfolding with
Ringo was just kind of being carried through this story.
Yeah.
And he doesn't make it really an active choice until like the end.
Yeah.
And I thought that was cool, like a good arc for him to go through.
And yeah, I would say that this movie, it was fun.
It was fun.
I enjoyed it overall.
The characters are really memorable.
Ow, do you hear that?
Do you like a spike?
No?
No.
Oh, trippy.
All right, I'll just ignore it.
Yeah, I would say that Johnny Depp did a great job.
All the voice actors did a really good job in this.
And from start to finish, yeah, it was a very strong voice cast.
I wasn't distracted by the fact that Johnny Depp was a slizer.
I think he played very much into the role.
And I like that he's the the trope or the role of like the coward, the storyteller becoming the actual hero and kind of embracing that.
Yeah.
And yeah, all the details in this just really made it a lot more immersive from like the, look, we talked about it throughout the whole movie, how beautiful it was.
Right.
From just like the certain shots that they would have from whether it would just be like a landscape or just like how the moon would shine or even those flowers at that one point.
Gosh, that would look so real.
And I'm surprised this movie doesn't get.
get a lot more attention and it this movie came out in 2011 so it's like like a few years
past being a decade old and still looks incredible some better than some animation movies
that come out now yeah I agree yeah and I'm surprised that in the day and age of like especially
with this being like a Nickelodeon film and with the inundation of like sequels and reboots
that this didn't get a sequel but I also think this movie like ends on a nice bow where it doesn't
necessarily need one yeah because it's like well how much more can we talk about
water in the desert and how we need to get it because I really I liked that we started out where he's
like the actor he's a the thespian I really love when we brought that back in the desert
to distract the bad guys to try to get the water like following his story right but um I wish that
maybe that came up a little bit more because as you said in the middle where you kind of it just
wasn't as exciting to me I was sort of like okay I get where we're going but there was something
there that was missing where that in other films that I'm like really taken along with the
story and you guys know I mean I always talk about this that I want to go on a journey like an
emotional one a funny one a sad one a happy one and in the middle of this it was sort of just like
a story but I didn't get that full pull that I wanted so I think for a sequel for this specifically
it would have to be,
it would be fun to see Rango in his element
as being a sheriff and now he knows who he is.
He was taken from playing, pretending,
and now he's actually become into his own
as a real sheriff now.
And it would be fun to see him play that out.
I'm just not sure where,
I mean, the plot could go anywhere,
I guess, at that point,
if he's just in this western town.
But maybe it's because it wasn't like,
super heart felt.
Like I didn't,
I didn't feel super emotional at the point when he was dying, right?
And the Roli Pullies came up and he was just sort of giving up.
I wanted to go through that a little bit more with Rango.
Like I really wanted to feel a little bit more,
like more sad for him.
So that at the end,
when he wins,
I still was like,
yay.
But I think it could have been more.
Yeah.
I think a couple of things kind of held it back for me was that,
that middle section,
the whole part where they were going on that journey.
he had like 10 plus people going to get the water.
I was like, one, it was a little bit of, too much of a cast for that whole section of it.
But two, it felt like a mandated mission, like, maybe like, I don't know how much involvement, like, or the interference of studio had in, like, the process of this film.
But it felt like, all right, this movie needs a giant set piece because this movie needs to capture the attention of kids, even though we're talking about all of these things that will fly over kids' heads.
Right.
And it didn't, I think that could have been used to really endear us to the characters more.
and dearest to him and his relationship with beans
I kind of challenge the whole
the most fun part for me
were seeing him find his way out of situations
like him personally or
him using his
his acting skills or like what we
solve him to outsmart things
and I feel like that whole section of the movie
one it was kind of a fruitless thing
the only thing that really came from
was like those people coming back
and helping him with the end
But I feel like the signs of good movies are ones that can have like dual purposes, whether it's two things that that help move the plot forward or more preferably something that moves the character forward.
I don't think that section of the movie really added to Ringo's journey because it was very much about the actions that were going on rather than how was this helping him develop.
Which is probably why I didn't feel as much for him.
As I was saying, like when he was kind of done and being like, I give up that I wanted to feel more.
And if we had spent time on that emotional, emotional journey and moving his character forward, I think I would have.
Shout out to Ask the Pro for sponsoring us.
So some fun facts about me.
I've been seeing an E&T the past couple of months.
Got a CT scan down for my allergies.
And right now I'm trying to find time to get deviated septum surgery.
So like many of you, I am someone who's tried pretty much every nasal spray you can think of.
Because I have difficulty breathing through my nose, which leads to day-to-day and sleeping problems.
on a consistent basis.
So before agreeing to this, I wanted to try them out myself.
Because this is a serious thing I deal with.
They provided me with free samples.
This is my second bottle.
This is without a doubt the best nasal spray I have ever used.
That's not some talking point.
That's my very own personal testimony.
Genuinely, for me, it's fantastic and lives up to how it's advertised.
It's the fastest 24-hour-over-the-counter solution available.
It gets to work in just 30 minutes while other sprays take hours to kick in.
It's also the only one out there that's steroid-free for 24-hour relief.
Astopro has seriously changed the game for me, offering full prescription strength relief from nasal congestion, running nose, and sneezing.
The difference this makes is phenomenal.
It's kind of insane how this relief to my breathing and nostrils just kicks in and I'm back in action really fast.
So if you're like me, battling with nasal allergies and looking for relief, get fast-acting nasal allergy or symptom relief with Astopro.
Go to Astopro allergy.com for a discount so you can Astopro and go.
It's faster with Astorpro, bro.
I saw that commercial.
Astor Pro.
faster, bro. That's A-S-T-E-P-R-O-Alogy.com. Remember, use as directed for relief of nasal congestion,
runny nose, sneezing, and itchy nose due to allergies. Thank you again, Aster Pro, sincerely.
All right, Reject Nation, so today I want to share something with you that has been a wonderful
addition to my health and fitness journey that I discovered during the holidays, and that is
liquid IV's hydration multiplier. I'm down to my very last packet, and I'm freaking out, but it's
okay. I got more in the mail. Now, a lot of you have been so kind to notice how I've been working
on my physical health. Thank you for all the
compliments. And one thing I learned is that proper hydration is absolutely crucial, especially post-workout
and pre-filming after post-workout. And my wife actually introduced me to this product, which is perfect
because we not only care about quality, but a good taste and quality product. Whether it's after a sweaty
workout or just after, you know, a good night out, you know what I'm saying? Efficient hydration and
replenishing electrolytes is key. You just feel better. And it tastes fantastic. I can't emphasize that
enough. And another thing that I'm always on the lookout for, too, is products that have zero sugar or
zero sugar added because that's one of my main dietary restrictions throughout the week.
And they, of course, got products that fit that description that also tastes good too.
So yes, thank you so much.
So liquid IV's hydration multiplier is in summary is they are a non-GMO electrolyte drink
that delivers hydration into your bloodstream faster and more efficient than water alone.
Sometimes drinking a whole gallon is not always efficient.
But in fact, it can provide the same hydration as drinking two to three bottles of water.
I'm also big on efficiency.
Plus, it's packed with a little of essential vitamins.
And even we know vitamins are good for the body.
It's vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
customize the water amount to your taste. Again, perfect for post-night recovery, traveling,
or just having a big night out. You know what I mean? No. So if you want to boost your support for
the channel and boost your hydration game, go to liquid iv.com and use promo code rejects at
checkout. That's liquid iv.com promo code rejects. And remember, liquid IV. It's not a real
IV. But it sure feels like it. So stay hydrated, stay healthy, and let's keep crushing those health
and fitness goals together in the year 2024. Yeah, because I feel like that
moment where the snake or Jake the snake outed him should have been more heartbreaking like no
because I feel like in other movies at this point in the movie they were like oh man he like is this
hero like oh he is for us and like wow he's like he's such a great guy like he starts to fall in love
with the people and then they feel that betrayal and he feels like no I'm out of like I'm a fraud I feel like
we didn't really have that moment right to really get him endeared into loving this community right
and them loving him back I agree because the time that I felt really where where the
movie actually took its time where I kind of felt something more is when he was talking to
beans when it was night in the desert and he gave her that kiss and they had just like a nice
talk and the movie slowed down a bit and it gave us time to just like be rather than like
let's do all this action so like maybe kids can be entertained right um it gave us a little bit more
of a plot and I wish they would have taken their time a little bit more with him if we had more
of those types of sequences where we really did feel, even though with the little girl who I love
like at the end, you know, she's like, you brought the water back. We could tell that her and Rango
had a relationship. We just didn't delve too much. We didn't delve deeper into it. Like we could
have really felt something there. And again, you said, oh, the town all loves him. But we didn't
get that full feeling of like, oh, please don't out Rango. It's going to make me so sad. It was just
sort of like we see it, we see it coming. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah. I mean, I still, I still enjoyed it. I loved
the animation again. Everything is beautiful in here and the shots are great. My favorite callback
shot was the, um, what Rango did in the beginning, uh, drawing the box in his point of view. And then
the Clint Eastwood character that I call him does it again. And he says, you can't look into your, I forget
the line, you guys. I wish I knew the line. But he says the line like, you can't.
can't look into your own story. That is not the line. I don't remember, but you guys get what I'm
saying. I really enjoyed that callback and that move in the script specifically. I would say,
I mean, for me on an entertainment level, like, I'd be like, oh, 6.5 out of 10. Like, I don't know that
I don't feel like I would need to watch this again because I'm like, oh, I love it. I'm like,
no, I understand what happens here, but I would if anyone was like, what's a really beautiful
movie to just look at cinematically?
I'd be like, Rango does a great job of that.
And it is still a fun story.
I just, I wish I loved it more and I'd gone on a little bit more of an emotional journey.
That's where I'm at.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's like I said, a very beautiful movie to look at from start to finish.
and I think the end wraps up nicely
and ties very well into the beginning
I just wish that middle section was a little stronger
but I think it's an enjoyable experience
and it's funny because I was like I've heard of this movie
but I've never really heard anybody talk about this movie
me neither it's not really like a popular one
you know at all I wonder
that if that middle section has played that much of a hindrance on it
were I think the combination of two things one
that middle section doesn't elevate the movie
to be like what I feel like they intended to be but two I feel like especially with the
Nickelodeon name attached to it and Johnny Depp I feel like they were hoping to bring in
more of a child audience but I feel like the script wants to be something that's above the
comprehension or like a thing that it captures kids attention because it's not it's stylized
but not in a way that's like poppy or flashy you know and granted maybe well this is
2011, I'm not sure, like, how that correlates with, like, how you capture kids' attention now.
And I know everything's very, like, colorful and bright and, like, kind of, like, a shoot-off of Spider-Verse.
But, like, 2011, this is very much, like, a muted movie and they're trying to make a child-friendly Western, but also trying to appeal to adults.
So maybe that's something in that osmosis for why they didn't really do well.
But, yeah, I think that, that kind of sums up how I feel.
I'm kind of in the same boat with you with like 6.5.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's like, it's in that middle area.
It's like, it's not bad, but it's not like blowing my mind either.
Right.
I thought it was fun.
I was happy with the end.
We love you guys.
