Starting point is 00:00:55 more on them in just bit Ladies and gentlemen, we just watched Reacher Season 3, Episode 5. This season has been mightily impressive, John. Yeah. It's been mightily impressive.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Real good. What's the name of that actor that you like? The guy with this ponytail guy who did Reacher Punch in the stomach. You said his name earlier. You forgot it again? You just said it. You committed it to memory. Well, I know that he's from the Werewolf of Fever Swamp episode of Goosepums.
Starting point is 00:01:36 So I'll look at that up. John. I know. I should have. You're just laying the review. We got 13 minutes here. Committed it to memory. I should have.
Starting point is 00:01:47 It's okay. We're going to get back there. I'm furious. You should be. I'm wasting a valuable. I'm directed by James Swan. Fletcher there you go there's my boy right there
Starting point is 00:01:59 Brendan Fletcher shouts out Brendan Fletcher is a nice addition every time they get a new cast member in this season they make sure to give them distinct personality every single time I'm really loving this episode because every episode just keeps complementing the furthering of the season
Starting point is 00:02:18 you know like as it develops so does the quality so does the engagement of the storytelling because it started off Wow, this really feels like the first, like, they had the situation where they, to throw you into the first, that first episode is so impressive to me. It's one of the best reacher episodes of all time. But to throw you in to the danger of the, that reaches in a dangerous situation and get you to feel that way. And then they pull back the curtain like, oh, no, he wanted to get thrown in this situation, right? It was all part of a plan. But they, they get you as the audience to feel that and they're delivering on that, that reach. in danger yeah totally and you see the fear that he also has he's not just in danger like there are moments of fear that he has to contend with he's actually tense yeah like when i love the way that moment uh play where polly hit him yeah and it wasn't like a cool act like he lost in
Starting point is 00:03:17 that moment oh yeah and he was scared of that he could he could lose to this guy it's a very refreshing thing to see and i mean he's been in the fast saga but in the day and age where you know a lot gets done to make sure that you're always looking cool yeah like i love the acting the character choice of this this whole thread that they're going down because not only has this been more tense for richer than i think anything thus far because of yeah it's like the the past trauma of everything with dominique what's riding on you know this this alliance he's formed with Duffy but also yeah being in the the lion's pit the snakes den and on top of all that having to be confronted with like a personal yeah this guy is bigger than me he's faster than I thought
Starting point is 00:04:06 and he just laid me out here you know it's it's yeah like it's got all the layers of the crime mystery that you would want and then yeah for Reacher himself it's like damn it's like what a great way to add stakes you watch your the character makes you safest sweat a little bit He's doing a good job with that And I like that he's willing to portray that To get you to care about the supporting cast And to really think about And to really elevate them
Starting point is 00:04:33 They don't how to ring tension out of anything Yeah You know The way they build up the cigarette Being lit For three episodes To culminate it to like A horrific 30 seconds
Starting point is 00:04:48 Yeah man Was so smart Because you don't exactly know What the plan is but then when it happens you see like the and there's been so much emphasis on this cigarette
Starting point is 00:04:58 yeah pay it off and it's something that has a major turn of events and they know how to ring tension that stuff earlier in the episode when they get the call
Starting point is 00:05:09 yeah and at when they're when it's just Duffy and what's the partner's name I forgot his name character name Guillermo maybe yeah
Starting point is 00:05:18 Steven's the young guy so yeah her and Giam and when the phone rings the way they have like a whole deduction conversation of like should we answer this phone yeah and why and then how it's just instantly like because it's also back for this like this sharp rhythm and everything they're doing right to when the guy breaks out after killing stephen and reach having to like improvise a plan and and stuff and then finding moments like oh they can't flip the car you know like oh but this guy might slam into me like damn like they don't
Starting point is 00:05:52 ring tension out of anything. Yeah, they do. Like, how do you? And it never feels like forced. It's, it's a thing that seems like truly considered of what could go wrong. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And ever since this, ever since Reacher got into this situation, it's been, I'm going to get caught. I'm going to get caught. I'm going to get caught. He has to prevent himself from getting caught. And normally in undercover stories,
Starting point is 00:06:17 they're undercover for a while before they really risk that. Yeah. Whereas this is like from. the second he stepped in there. The tension, the stakes are high, and I got to be discreet as I frigging can about this. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Well, and every episode has forced him. Yeah, like, you really feel him thinking on his feet. Like, I think they've done a nice job. It's like in the past and still in this season, obviously, like, part of the charm of Reacher is, yeah, he is so intelligent. He knows, you know, he's a good tracker so he can estimate how much time things are going to take or what certain people are likely to do. and not that there hasn't been tension in previous seasons
Starting point is 00:06:55 but yeah this one really feels like he is making it up as he goes and every problem that he solves buys just enough time to figure out what the new lay of the land is and hopefully solve any new problem that has arisen fixing the old problem and like there are moments where it's like oh yeah that's a really smart cover you know the way he's able to take everything that happens with angel doll and these other guys at the you know safe house
Starting point is 00:07:21 that they had to blow up and the head of security. Like the way he's able to over a couple of episodes kind of figure out how to play that all to his advantage is rewarding because, you know, it takes a little bit of time for that full portrait to be drawn. So at first you're just like, well, thank God he got this one guy out of the way, but what the hell is you going to do with the body? Okay, well, thank God he got rid of the body.
Starting point is 00:07:41 But still, this is like really suspicious and like there are other people still snooping around who knew Angel doll. And then like, yeah, you really believe the piece by piece of it all, but you also feel like the people writing this have the full bird's eye view in mind and are having a good time with us. And again, like each of these episodes
Starting point is 00:07:59 in a period of time where we've had a lot of cause to talk about weird release schedules. And I know this put out three episodes to start. So you only get five additional weeks. But even just having one of these, it's weird. Like I like, I don't love the binge model
Starting point is 00:08:15 even though I love the feeling of a show, an episode like this ending, And you're immediately like, damn, but I need another one. I want to watch another one. Yeah. And so it's nice to have this anticipation because, yeah, like, not only was I just, like, excited to have reach her back. Like, this season has been such a banger so far that, like, I've just overjoyed each
Starting point is 00:08:35 time we get to watch one. I agree with you full heartily. Brennan Fletcher, man. Fletcher. He's great. He's the guy who never shuts up. Yeah. And even the justification to keep him alive.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Oh, my God. Everything is so thought. I think something you just wouldn't think about. Yeah. And that the second richer makes that point, you're like, it would look mightyly suspicious. You know, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:56 If you were the only one still standing. And how can I use this guy as, as, you know, at least a wealth of information or something like that? You know, maybe there's an asset I can gain in keeping him alive. And yeah, like that, that tenuous, but yeah, quick thinking in the moment strategy is a nice charm that they're really able to communicate with those. And I don't know. It's really easy to chalk up the May death to just. a typical fridging situation I wouldn't I wouldn't say that because
Starting point is 00:09:23 they really it wasn't like he cared for her and then suddenly she's dead you know like they really built it up like he's going to be some type of savior to her yeah and they I think if you're going to kill her off it shouldn't feel telegraphed or predicted
Starting point is 00:09:39 yeah like it was not predictable that she was going to get killed off yeah and they don't like make a you know a violent scene out of it they know there's no point what really matters is like the confirmation of seeing the body and the way reacher's dealing with it that's what matters so yeah i think it's a case of that i think it really serves the the immediacy of the narrative and the one-two punch of like he wants you know he's getting mad at polly and then to get
Starting point is 00:10:05 hit by like there that could have easily just been some like action cliche moment where polly finally hits him but like there was so much dramatic moment there's so much around that one moment yeah where if reach oh reacher's mad he's gonna go do some shit oh this is the guy that killed her i'm going to go kill him and the second he hits him it doesn't do shit and then he just gets hurt right away off of one hit you know um i think it does it does so much and but to back it with the duffy storyline too of of a cop really having to contend with the odds of saving this girl are really not in your favor yeah and as the audience i'm like i don't understand how she could be alive if she's really just caught and it's like everything points to
Starting point is 00:10:48 she's dead yeah and they they the way she's performs it the way she's written i believe so much of the desperation she is holding onto and this like one and a million shot that she'll she'll be able to say so whenever someone has to just lay the the truth to her but you're also there for me and going i hope duffy's right you know yeah totally i hope she's i'm i agree with everyone else but i'm also going but i hope coffee's right in the end reject nation when we first launched our merch store reject nation shop dot com first suggestion we got was to use shopify now a couple years later with a successful online store we still use shopify to this day so it's weird to say thank you shopify for sponsoring this video and i'll be

Starting point is 00:12:45 and I'm curious to know from you guys, what product or business have you guys wanted to start your launch before? More now. Do it now with Shopify. Last time I talked to you guys about Liquid Ivy, I had just started incorporated it into my new diet that started on January 25th. A little over a month later, 19 pounds lighter, more to go.
Starting point is 00:13:04 I'm proud to say I still take one to two of these a day. I'm going to show you guys two different sets here. this unopened one and this opened ones what's the difference this is what they sent me this is what i had already purchased i love that we get to work with them because i already use their products and i promise you literally take their sugar-free one at least once a day minimum sweating a lot more doing a lot more cardio so hydration is very important i really feel like it helps me with my mental clarity and if you guys don't know what liquid iv is they're a hydration multiplier that delivers electrolytes and essential nutrients faster than water alone.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Everything they promote, I do feel the physical effects of it. They boost hydration fast. Any one of these sticks give you two to three times the hydration of water alone. I think it's perfect for post-workout. Nice boost of energy. Helps when I'm feeling sluggish. Recover faster. It's convenient.
Starting point is 00:13:55 It tastes great. Sometimes you can mix it with a protein shake. We usually just pop it in one of these, shake it with some ice and water, and I'm good to go. So whether you're working out, cutting calories, or just pushing through a busy day. This is one of the easiest ways to give your body what it needs to feel at its best. Right now, you can get 20% off when you go to Liquidiv.com and use code rejects at checkout. That's 20% off at anything you order when you use code rejects at LiquidIV.com. And yes, I use that code myself.
Starting point is 00:14:19 So you can hydrate smarter, you can feel better. And hopefully just like me, you'll feel the difference. It's a good debate to have, I think, because, yeah, it's like you know why Reacher feels the way he feels. You know, that you get that, you know, nice kind of reminder of her motivation. You know, we are here to beat the odds, you know, and obviously, you know, Quinn's operation or, you know, whatever we're going to, I always forget what his actual name is. But, you know, that's worth taking down anyway. But, yeah, I believe it's a cool way to do the trope of, of, yeah, I'm doing this off the books and I'm doing it, you know, I'm basically taking my hunch, my gut, and I'm putting my career on the line for this. Like, it's a well-worn trope. But I feel like to, especially as of this episode, and the desperation of this like it does feel like a person really risking it all for something they believe in and that whole thing where she's on the phone and and she's talking to reach her and she's like you know good I deserve to be you know this but you know fired after this lose my badge after this because of the cost now that has accrued as of this episode and you see the ugly side of of following that thread and going with your gut and the fact that like yeah you're not fully responsible for every little decision that transpired to, you know, let the bodyguard break out and do what he did. But at the same time, this is your mission. These are people who are here for you. They're thrown in
Starting point is 00:15:46 because they believe you. And you believe her questioning of her entire reason for being here and the debate that must be going on inside of her of like, I'm trying to look for this girl who I got into a bad situation. Already another girl who is, you know, doing a very similar thing has been killed and you know i've got reacher in there too i'm just trying to like hold out hope that this person is still alive but also like now like the balance of things is all out of whack and more people who didn't deserve to die or death like you know it's the unglamorous side there's a lot you know in our media that's like you know yeah go get them you know like go off the book and and follow that hunch but it's like if you're going to do that it can still be fun and a good
Starting point is 00:16:29 mystery and all that stuff but it's fun I appreciate that yeah they take the time for that side of the pathos of like damn though this is a big risk and it's going to cost regardless of whether or not you find the person you're looking for at the very end and I think that's well handled
Starting point is 00:16:45 and her performance of that is terrific and the way she and reach or bounce off each other because he's seen how this goes can go with these people specifically so his whole demeanor and the way that everything we learned in the Dominique episode is complimenting and complimenting her position and their sides of the debate.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Like, it's just really well thematically drawn in the action, in the story and everything in the way they've divided up these episodic chapters. Like, is terrific. Heart of Guillermo, too. Yeah, man. Lovely force to have a little bit of levity with him. I love the whole when he's in the car upside down conversation. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Yeah, and they're acknowledging, like, things that are, that are aspects of tropes and stuff that lend themselves to this kind of story. but they're humanizing them and they're making them they're doing them in ways where you're not even always realizing that they're happening yeah and even something like frigate like you know that character that the maid you know has been a lovely thread of this season like she's been a character even though she's not like the main person and to to send her out on this note where she delivers an insult jack helps her complete the insult yeah uh and then yeah it's like you know knocks this guy out on her behalf and still there's something else at play that led to her fate so it's yeah
Starting point is 00:18:05 it doesn't feel very it's obviously pointedly placed but it also feels like a character was sort of earned there that you were looking forward to seeing
Starting point is 00:18:16 more of and now they're gone like I feel something about that character as well as Jack and I want to see him you know avenge her so to speak but I'm also sad
Starting point is 00:18:25 that character is gone herself not just for what it does to Jack so like yeah And that whole dynamic of her and the chef lady, the coffee lady, which I'm curious is as to whether she will now become a more prominent sort of, I don't know. I'm curious what she'll kill Paul. She will. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:44 I don't know. You know, like I wonder where she'll fall, what her true allegiance here is if she knows anything. And I feel like there's something about that character still to be revealed. But who knows? Who knows? I think Alan Riches should be very proud. He should. because you know this is a character whose legacy is like established with the fans of the books so well
Starting point is 00:19:04 and he has to bring it to life and from all accounts or anything i see people are very satisfied he is like a whatever christopher reeve is for superman this is alan richon for jack reacher you know yeah he really i think it's really really cool of what he's been able to pull off and i feel like he's better every season and this is the best work he's done in the entire show bring on season four yeah you can tell he really cares too the interviews when he talks about like well here's what we really want for like he cares about like the action he really cares about the story he cares about all that he gets really involved for what seems anyway guys leave a like on this video tell us your thoughts down below what you thought about this sincerely share the
