Starting point is 00:01:01 where you can sneak up with their own copy. It's where Greg and John covers up exclusively. It's where you get discounts on our merch, rejection shop.com, like that shirt she's wearing or the shirt that's in my purse right now that I'm too cold to go grab. I don't think we sell these, but these are cute. Everybody keeps asking us to sell them.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Yeah, we're... And I think we should start. We're going to figure this out. Yeah, we're going to figure it out. All right. One of the other cool things you can do on Patreon is you guys can ask us questions that help guide our review,
Starting point is 00:01:26 which we will get to momentarily. But before we do that, I want to ask you, my girl Tara, What did you think about the movie? Yeah, yeah. I had a blast. I had a really good time. I love how much.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Yeah, check it out. Because I, as you guys know, we don't play the video games, but I can always see in all the movies, like the tie-in to the video game aspect, especially with the special effects. I think they did a really good job balancing the practical with the CGI. Obviously, when we're in a wide shot and we're looking at thousands of zombies, it's CGI. The plane with CGI I called it out where there's, but there still was a lot of practical zombies. The fight scenes were really, really awesome. I thought it was good wirework.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Even with the clone stuff, that CGI didn't really, it didn't bug me. I thought it was like enough and done well enough to, to like suspend my belief and like, what's going on here, which I think is a lot of fun. The music was great. obviously all the acting is great, but the storyline, I feel like in this one, was probably the strongest and maybe the most fun. Maybe that's why we really liked it because the plot of it is like we have to get to Arcadia. There's an obvious hurdle there for us with like hilarious Hollywood producer and his buddies and whatever else. Which I like us trying to struggle to get to Arcadia, the zombies we get into, the fights we get into, the prison cell.
Starting point is 00:02:59 thought was a lot of fun. Great location. A lot of different fun locations in this. And I think a fun plot, which to me, I'd want to play this level in the game. Because you could go to the city, to the prison, to the boat. Let's go. I am with you on everything. I am interested to see that on Rotten Tomatoes, people just don't, I mean, at least critics do not F with this franchise.
Starting point is 00:03:28 Really? Of these Ho-Hovic ones, the original 2002, Resident Evil, has a 35%. Resident Evil Apocalypse, 2004, has an 18%. Resident Evil Extinction, 2007, has a 24%. This one, Resident Evil Afterlife, has a 21%. And the next one... What's the popcorn, though, on those? Okay, let's see.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Afterlife, the one... The popcorn meter on this is 48. Okay, so people aren't really loving it as much. I feel crazy because I thought that this one was like soup, like a really legitimately solid movie. The first one has a 35% and then a 67. I just ordered another batch of Huell ready to drink for the office because every time I stock the fridge, somehow they disappear. So apparently I run a YouTube channel and the Huell distribution center. And that's kind of the point.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I've been drinking Huel weekly for almost two years now before my 2025 cut. They're out the entire eight month cut. and I still use it now. Sponsored or not, I use them. I hear Hewled ads on plenty of other podcasts, but I don't know how many of those people are buying it for their coworkers when the cameras are off. This guy does.
Starting point is 00:04:37 So, what separates Hewle for me from a lot of other drinks or powders is that I'm not treating it like something I have to add on to a meal. Like Black Edition is the meal. It has 40 grams of protein mixes with water or milk in about 30 seconds, and it's a complete meal you have instead of food, not a shake on top of food. with 27 essential vitamins and minerals and no artificial sweeteners colors or flavors. But a lot of the time, the servings are two scoops.
Starting point is 00:05:02 So sometimes I'll mix one scoop banana flavor, my favorite, with a high protein yogurt. Delicious. And the RTD, the ready to drink is the grab and go version. 35 grams of protein, seven grams of fiber under five bucks a meal. No prep. You just grab it and go. Strawberry banana is the Mrs. his favorite chocolate peanut butter is the star at the office and they have a new flavor here mixed
Starting point is 00:05:27 berry new customers get 15% off online with code rejects at huel dot com slash rejects new customers only thank you huel for partnering supporting our show and for supporting my lifestyle and then it's 67 for the second one no no i just oh 67 for the for the audience that what you just asked yeah okay so 67 for the first one for this one it's 48 so it's lower Right. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. And for the second one for the popcorn meter, it's 60. For the third one for the popcorn meter, it's 58. For the fourth one, it's 48. So this one is the lowest on the popcorn meter by far. I just don't understand. And this was my favorite one. Why did I love this one so much? Well, the action. Yeah. I love the prison setting, the water stuff. Like, I don't know. The wirework. I wonder if it's the CGI. I love having the relationship with Claire, the memory stuff. Like I don't know. It says. the critics consensus as dim-witted and lifeless as its undead antagonist.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Resident Evil afterlife is a wholly unnecessary addition to the franchise. It's a freaking zombie film with action adventure. What are you guys even talking about? Maybe these are just really unsimilar to the video games. So maybe people were annoyed because maybe it's just not at all like the video games. That's my only guess. Can you guys leave it in the comments? Because I'm like, oh, are the video games?
Starting point is 00:06:46 Is it really well written like a freaking novel? You don't go to see Resident Evil because you're like. like the writing, Oscar worthy. That's, you're here to have fun. These movies are fun. It's great. It's fun action. There's wirework.
Starting point is 00:07:01 There's bullets. There's guns. We go into artillery room. I wanted more making out. Not with siblings, but with everybody else. I know. Other than that, I forgot about that.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I thought that this was like an actually really solid story. I just thought it was. I mean, is it a weird coincidence that them, they are siblings? Yeah, sure. Yeah, there was things like that,
Starting point is 00:07:18 but whatever. But whatever, we're not like, I don't get it. This isn't. like an intense drama where you're like we're looking at this film as like a cinematic type of a thing this is a it's a fun film i didn't mind that it was so coincidentally his sister whatever kim coats by the way is the name of the hollywood producer like you said sons of anarchy and a million other things yeah that's why yeah uh let's see the guy who wore the glasses sean roberts
Starting point is 00:07:46 that he is oh he's an x-men um oh it looks like he's in a different Resident Evil as well, so I won't spoil that for us. Okay. The guy that we liked that we wanted her to make out with the whole time, Luther, he, let's see what else we know him from because he was recognizable. Boris Code Joe. He's in station, 95 episodes of Station 19, two episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Gray's.
Starting point is 00:08:14 So the Station 19, you know, they're the same world, all that stuff. He was, he's also been in a bejillion. and other shows that you and I both probably watch with 58 credits. So I thought the cast was great. I thought there was chemistry. I'm confused. I'm not understanding. I'm genuinely not understanding why these.
Starting point is 00:08:35 I feel like people don't know to have fun. Let's go to the Patreon questions. We don't have any. Oh, I thought you told me we did. We don't, not for this one for our next one. We do. You told me before we started. We did.
Starting point is 00:08:45 No, because we did. You know you told me that. They put this on the schedule. But I said, I said, yeah, we did. Yeah, we do, but for Deborah. No, you didn't. No, you didn't. You know it.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Be honest with people. I think that's what I said. No, because I said, which two? And you said, oh, because these are the two that are on Patreon. That's what you said. Yeah, Deborah and the menu. Not the, not the Resident Evil. Don't, don't tell them about the, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:12 She lied to me. Totally. She did it on purpose. I love doing it. And now she's not taking it. Love lying to Roxie Schreier. All right. So who was your favorite character in this?
Starting point is 00:09:21 Hmm. Let me think. You know what? Honestly, I really did like Luther a lot. Like when he was gone, when the demigorgia comes from him, and I was like, no, man, I didn't think he was going to die. I just, I liked his whole vibe. I love that he's like a model for the watches.
Starting point is 00:09:38 He's just, it was fun. I liked him a lot. Where did this rank amongst other ones for you? Like I keep saying this was my favorite. I really think it was. Was it where was it for you? I mean, this one, honestly, the pace. of this one and maybe it's because there was just there was a lot going on but it didn't and the
Starting point is 00:09:57 zombie stuff and the fight scenes were really great the wirework the matrix-esque the vibe of this is really good maybe maybe i would do one and then four yeah one maybe the rest because the the two the two and the three i get mixed up between when we were in the desert and we were shooting from the iful tower mixed with the other one with the other one so i think one and four are my top. What about you? One and four my top as well. I have to tell you some trivia. Oh, yeah. Let's go. You're going to like some of these.
Starting point is 00:10:30 During filming, Ho-Hovich accidentally shot out a $100,000 camera. Wait, but are they not using fake? What? Like, how does. There are blanks. I don't know what you're. Yeah. How does that even happen? I don't know. The production was set to shoot on one of Toronto's largest studios, but the day before they were due to begin filming, it burned down.
Starting point is 00:10:52 That's terrible. What the hell would they? They must have had to delay. Yeah, I don't know. Allie Larder missed seven episodes of her TV series heroes in order to appear in this film. Wow. It's a lot of episodes.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Let's see. After seeing footage of James Cameron's avatar, Paul Anderson was sold on the idea of making the film in 3D. Yeah, there was moments where I kept in 3D. He and his crew spent two weeks in pre-production learning how to properly use the 3D camera system. Mm. Although never mentioned explicitly in the final cut, the script clarifies that despite Wesker's injection, Alice's blood system continues to fight off the antibodies, perhaps explaining why she is not completely reduced to normal.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Fair, yeah. Because at the end, you called that out. Yeah. And you were like, oh, she must have fought it. Because kind of, I was like, when did they make that choice? Yeah. The scarab devices, oh, the one on the chest, strapped to the survivors. oh, and the zombie axmen are lifted from the video game, Resident Evil 5.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Okay. Scarab, sorry. Despite prominent billing for actress Spencer Locke, her screen time is very limited, since she appears briefly at the end. Additionally, the character of Kmart does not utter a single line of dialogue during the entire film. Yeah. That's interesting. Yeah, you're right. That does suck for her.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Yeah. Originally, the film would end on a positive note with Alice's transmission on Arcadia Radio and newly freed survivors assembling on the show. platform. I like that they gave us what they gave us, though, because it makes us look forward to what the next thing is. As long as they actually do that next, then I'm excited about that. Yeah. You guys let us know, are we crazy for thinking that this one is great? Do you guys feel otherwise? I mean, tell us the things in the comments. I'm really curious to read your take on this. And Tara, anything else? No, I just think it's fun. Like, what? You guys
Starting point is 00:12:43 don't have fun in these movies. Give me a break. Well, maybe they do because they're watching this. They're watching it, but those people are. on the old rotten. Come on now. All right. What's our word? Yeah, what's our word? Well,
Starting point is 00:12:56 what was big than this? What do we got? Luther? Luther's a good one, right? How are you going to sneak that into the sentence? Yeah. Show us what you got. Made it to the end of the video
Starting point is 00:13:09 where I leave her in the comments. Yeah. Luther Vandromes. All right. Later rejects. Later she rejects. See you next time.
