Tara now for me
this, again
I think the word
Like which one? Yeah, tell me.
I think that well no no I mean I like all three of them
but I think the best word to use to
describe this film is relentless. I do
I love how the second film just
expanded the lore, just like, you know, the days to come for Mika and Katie and then also
like showing her sister. Now, I didn't remember everything that they explained because, again,
the first time you watch a film, you're processing a lot of information. I think the second
time is always where you know what to expect and like, you know, it's a lot easier. But what I'm,
the point I'm getting at is I didn't remember, I remember the fire. I remember this happened when
they were children. Those were the basic things I remembered. I didn't remember. I'm sure there
was other stuff that they explained that I just
did not remember. Not an
excuse, but guys, we do a lot of reaction so I
didn't remember everything. Point being is
I think this was the proper way to bookend
the trilogy for Christy
and Katie because we heard so much about this
and I either said... We wanted to see
the origin of the story. We did
mention it was either at the end of the
first film or at some point in the first film
or the second film we said, damn, I want to
see this story about what happened when they were girls
when they were little girls rather about
being haunted by the ghost and like what
led to all this so i think this was the proper way to uh continue the story with a prequel and i love how to
like uh again i just mentioning all the aesthetics and and the the look of everything it really did
feel like organic to the times and i love how too because we're not in 2005 or 2006 whenever the
first two i think 2006 october september october i love how like because we're wayed down by
technology at the time like we had to come up with some creative things like with the oscillator on
the fan like moving and like okay cameras are a lot heavy
year back then. So it's going to be more of a difficult task. Batteries run out after six hours. So I think that was an inventive way of using the technology at the time. So I thought that was really cool how they did that. And also, too, you can tell with the grain of it, how different it is with the 80s, you know, aesthetics and look. Yeah, totally. I actually, too, for me like, again, I didn't hate Mika and Daniel, but I didn't like them. Obviously, you know, I don't ever want, unless you're an evil human being, I don't ever want something to happen.
though, like, I did say, like, in the first two, like, you guys are really provoking the spirit or the demon or whatever.
I felt like, um, uh, what's Dennis? Thank you. Uh, I felt like Dan, I actually like sympathized with him.
Like he, he came into this family situation and he was really trying to be, you know, that, uh, what's the word surrogate, right?
the surrogate type of father yeah stepdad but also um you know he was really trying to fill that role
as a stepdad and um uh he did he like he cared about these girls and like also at the same
point like playing a detective like what the hell is this thing um but i really sympathized and
empathize for this character he was my favorite personally of the three male characters that
we've gotten up to this point right in the series like i didn't like again i didn't want anything
to happen to the first two but i didn't care for those guys to the point i'm like
they're kind of annoying me a little bit but this one i i like dennis a lot more i i really like
the relationship between him and julie um and uh and again i i just love the whole origin story
with uh just seeing like what happened and then that was fascinating with the grandma at the
i was like with what you said i want to hear more about like your thoughts with that whole thing
with uh like how the whole thing with the cut cut whatever you were saying i really think like
it was so insane how grandma lois is just staring at him right and he
he's going through that, no emotion on her face.
It's like she willed it, almost wanted it to happen.
I mean, we know that she didn't like the guy.
He didn't have enough money, whatever.
But I think that the women that came out of the back garage are in her coven.
I think that she is like the leader of the coven and she has some like sort of witchy powers.
Here's what I don't really grasp is because we saw her go upstairs, but we still
heard the growling down below and then it went static on the camera right so that leads me to go like
well maybe it's not in her the whole time but I still was like I think there's a coven she's ahead of it
we learned that it does run in the family right because one of them had to transfer it back to
the sister so that it wouldn't hurt the first born like we learned that in the beginning movies
but them saying, like, this started when they were very, very young.
That ending was wild.
That ending was really wild.
I really liked it.
This movie, though, overall, was terrifying, and I never want to watch it again.
This movie was so scary.
I have never been jump scared that much in my entire life.
Relentless.
And, like, I watched Hereditary, which is also terrifying.
this had more jump scares in it like uh-uh two things terra i want to go over with you i agreed with
everything you just said you make some really fascinating points uh number one when um uh little christie said
fine i'll do it do you think that was to get them to grandma lois's house do you think that's
the fine i'll do it maybe okay because uh number two i do remember when grandma lois was having
the conversation you know we wanted to have a big family you wanted to have uh you always said
You wanted to have a son.
No, I'm done having children.
I feel like that was the point where Grandma Lois is like, okay, she's got to go.
She's not going to have the son because that's when the ghost really decided to go.
I mean, it was always attacking them, but first really got up.
Went hard after that.
When, because, okay, they're of no use now if they're not going to provide a son.
That's the whole deal is the first born son.
So I feel like that conversation adds a whole new level of debt.
Yeah, because like she was very, like Grandma Lois was really, like you said,
It was a coven, like you said.
She was really amped up in that conversation.
You sure, you always wanted to have a big family.
You need, want a son.
Like, those are very specific details right there.
So, like, it's like she made a deal with them.
Yeah.
Like, to give them a son.
So, again, I think like.
Oh, wait, you just said yes.
Because remember, they said that my, their mom made a deal with the devil.
Yeah.
With the thing and that's the deal.
Yeah, that's what I think I remember.
Yeah.
So I think, like, when she said.
That's definitely.
Yeah, so I think when she's...
Which is why the coven is real.
Yeah, so I think like once she said to her, no, I'm done having children.
I don't want a son.
Then she made the deal.
Okay, so this deal's done.
Now I need my two granddaughters.
They're going to have to have children one day.
First one to have a son.
And then Christy didn't have it.
She had a daughter for...
Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
She was the stepmom.
Sorry, she was the stepmom.
But then she had the son.
I can't remember if it was 100, which we saw at the very beginning of this.
Yeah.
To show the footage from the second movie.
And that's when Toby or...
whatever demon whoever it was like went hard after that kid because that was that was the deal yeah
this just adds a whole new layer it adds a whole new thing to like the lore of it and i i really liked
seeing the coven like actually be a really big jump scare like what the actual f was that and then
then burning the fire in the background and we didn't even really we didn't need a close up on that
they just like had it very far in the master shot yeah that when you see it.
it you see it and they did a lot of things that were i think very subtle in the background to scare us
but also the jump scares were obviously a lot more yes and the like the stuff falling in the kitchen
i thought was one of the best um shots because it looked very realistic i didn't think it was cg i
mean it could it could be i don't know but it looked really really good um and i thought it was so
scary when she jumped out of the closet with the mask on and I'm like, what? Why do you have to look like that? And then when the girl, the little girl's crying looking at her mom, she turned around. She was full on demonized. Like, no. No thank you. I don't want to watch more of these. I will do it. I honestly, one and two, I was like, I think I can handle this. I can handle this. This one, this one, I felt like I was going to die. Yeah. Once we were 30 minutes and I'm like, I, in my mind. That was so.
I don't know how much more I can take.
Do you want to do trivia now?
Yeah, I'll do it.
I just, yeah, again, a fascinating story.
If we're really done with, I assume we're done with Katie and Christy, I don't know what
else there is to tell.
But it was a fascinating journey throughout the three films and just like the whole
lore of it all.
Like I thought it was like really compelling, honestly.
And then in regards, really quick before I get to the trivia, is there a jump scare in
this film or in all three films that really stood out to you as like, holy crap.
app that was a bit is it the one that with the ceiling in the fall or maybe her jumping out or
her jumping out really that really got me to that was scary as that was really scary again like
the first two films this film really was a masterclass at building up suspense and uh and tension
ladies and gentlemen i'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that i have
been using since before we partnered with them which just makes my job easy and i just get to share
with you something I really do love. And that is the Acorns app. Because money's involved, I
researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be legit, right? You can find so
many positive reviews on them. There's one person here. Day themselves gave me a very
positive testimony about how it helped get them out of a bind once that they were in. And I can
say that, you know, I don't want to actually show my, but I have the app just as evidence. Because
one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing. That's something that I
think is really important. It's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who doesn't have
a 401k who really does need to invest money so that way I don't have to just work for money but have
money grow for me, have money work for me. It's an absolutely amazing start. The best part is you don't
need a lot of money to do it. You can literally start with your spare change. They make it easy to
automatically start saving and investing for you, your future, your retirement, your kids, whatever
it may be that you want to invest money for. Like I say, you don't need a lot of money. You don't
even really need expertise, which is the best part. Acorns recommends an expert built portfolio that
fits you and your money goals. Then automatically invest the money for you. So it takes a lot of
this stressful decision-making fatigue out of the process. I just love how I can let it do its thing
and then I can just check it with my half like a month later, a couple months later, see how
they're awesome dollar round up or whatever my money investments I've gone into. Literally it's just
awesome to see it grow. Plus now you can open an Acorns later IRA and get up to a 3% match on
new contributions. So it's extra money for your retirement. Cannot stress it enough. It's made
investing, especially at a jumping off point, super easy, super stress-free, super straightforward.
It's all about small steps today making a big impact on your future. Because from Acorns,
Mighty Oaks do grow, grow your roke. So you can head at Acorns.com slash rejects or download
the Acorns app and start saving and investing for your future. There's a link in the description

Thank you again.
I mean, there was just too many jump scares on this.
I can't even remember.
It just was like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Yeah, because I thought in the first two films, there were definitely jump scares, but it would take breaks in between.
It gave us a break.
It did.
This one just.
Three the second.
This one's like it's 1988.
You know, the biggest jump scare of all is Andrew being born.
Most of the scenes in the trailers are not in the actual movie, which angered many fans of the series.
According to Inside Pulse, the production team behind this had enough leftover two completely different versions of the same film.
50% of the footage was what they used to create the TV spots in the theatrical trailer.
Love it.
At around the five minute mark towards the beginning of the film, Julie takes a picture of young Katie standing in the driveway shortly.
before a group picture is taking the photo being taken appears in both paranormal activity one
and paranormal activity two as an indication that the demon has started hunting them oh cool
at around the four minute mark the scene with christie's loose tooth was real as terra pointed out
yeah little girl show little girl shows up on set and says that she's got a loose tooth
aerial shulman said we say film it work it into the scene we can't fake that exactly yeah
It's great.
The highest grossing film in the paranormal activity series.
This one.
That's what it says.
Yeah, because it's terrifying.
Yeah.
Very little set dressing was done on the house from paranormal activity three.
And I quote, we would walk into some of the potential locations and it would be like they were frozen in the 80s, said Pelley.
We wouldn't even need to do much to them.
So sometimes you get lucky.
We didn't want to throw in the 80s thing in your face too much.
We didn't want to make it hugely like, look, it's the 80s.
They did a really.
they walked into a perfect set that house was perfectly 80s but also it was a total wreck yeah so i i don't know if they walked into it and that the homeowner actually had kids because i remember looking at it being like this movie already makes me give me heart palpitations but also the mess of the house gave me anxiety it was so messy stuff was everywhere yeah agreed i got oCD too so that gave me anxiety as well according to shulman and yost juiced whoever you said his name the demon in the film to
was named after the assistant director's dog
and the writer's neighbor's dog.
Cute.
One of the paintings in the grandmother's house
near the end of the film can also be seen
in Christy's house in paranormal activity too.
Cool.
See, he's a little detail.
I'm sure there's going to be comments
for people who haven't made it here
are going to let us know this and that's great.
We're not going to always notice these things.
As with paranormal activity one and two,
Paramount Studios once again
utilize paranormal investigator researcher
Christopher Chacon, who is recognized as one of the world's
most, our foremost authorities on paranormal phenomena
to internationally promote and publicize this third installment.
Chacon also works in the entertainment industry as a writer, director, and producer.
Cool.
All right, we're on the spoilers now.
At around the one hour and 18 minute mark in the static at the end of the film,
there is a frame that shows Dennis and Julie's bed on fire.
This is presumably the start of the house fire that is referred to
in both paranormal activity.
Oh, wow, that's cool.
At around the one hour and 12 minute mark,
the symbols that appear behind the pictures
in Gramalows' house are simplified versions
of the pentagram of Solomon inverted
and the triangle of Solomon symbols depicted
in the lesser key of Solomon
and used to summon and constrain demons
in classical Gothic thurgy.
Though they spent, we only got a couple more
and we're done.
Though they spent the great majority of their time
behind the scenes, Jost and Schulman actually
make cameos in the film showman was the ghost underneath the blanket cat like reflexes he cracked
very agile yost's cameo is similarly mysterious though at least part of his body is visible even if you
can't tell cool a large majority of footage seen in the trailers were not used in the finished film
a couple of those scenes were added to the extended cut of the film on home video last one body
count three grandma is implied dead in present time circa 2005
Yeah, okay.
All righty.
Well, guys, I assume we're going to do more, though.
I don't know if Tara wants to.
But we shall see.
You guys let us know if you want us to continue, getting scared for your entertainment purposes.
We're happy to do whatever you guys want.
We'll probably need some drama me in the next one, though, right?
Yeah.
But guys, let us know in the comments.
What did you think of paranormal activity three?
What do you think of the first three just in general?
We want to know your rankings.
Really quick.
Do you have a ranking?
or do you need to think about it?
If you do, we'll finish this right now.
For me, I would go...
3-1-2, I guess.
Okay.
Maybe I'd go 3-2-1.
I don't know.
They're all good.
Anyways, let us know what you guys think.
If you've stayed with us this far, we appreciate it.
You guys are the best, and we'll talk to you guys later.
See ya.
McHale Linden.
Then, dude, McHale, I can't imagine that.
in his home
there's a lot of paranormal activity going down
definitely haunted by ghosts
of all the actors who play James Bond
who are now dead which I believe is too
Sean Connery and Roger Moore
is George Lazenby still alive
He might be
Either way George Lazanby's ghost is there
Okay
Timothy Dalton's because time is not so linear
John
It's not it's true
And all the bonds, ghosts who will ever be bond, are in there too.
What a scary scenario or awesome scenario.
Yeah, I mean, for Mikhail, I think he would be fine.
If Mikhail was like a hot, you know, kind of mysterious lady, I feel like you would have
your hands full with all those bonds.
But Mikhail, I feel like, would be down.
I think Mikhail would make a great haunted home scenario.
Sure.
Can you imagine him encountering?
Ghost, he'd be like, hey, let me tell you about Sweden and James Bond, because these are the
only two things I know how to talk about.
Yes.
And with like a James Bond or, sorry, Indiana Jones Garnish.
A little bit of Indiana Jones Garner.
Yeah.
You would be, oh my God, you could ingratiate the ghosts into the modern era by showing them
the cinema.
Oh, you could show them a dial of destiny.
Yeah, absolutely.
You show Quadra ballast.
You could show them Specter.
You could show them.
Showing of the Crystal Skull.
Yes.
It's not enough.
You can show them the casino royale that Woody Allen made or Peter Sellers, one of the two guys.
I think they're, aren't they both in it, I think?
Yeah, maybe.
Or they're both involved with it somehow.
Yeah.
And, hey, even the bond from the books is just going to be conjured into reality.
And while you're at it, Mind Hunter, the, no, Manhunter.
Man Hunter.
The one, them featured Hannibal Lecter.
Yeah, the Michael Mann movie.
Michael Mann movie that featured Hannibal Lecter.
Yeah, definitely.
Oh, my God, Mikhail.
Yeah, I don't know why you threw that in through the mix, McHale.
But, babe, this is when the ghost decided to leave because they're like, I have more interests in life outside of these two.
Sure.
That's when you turn on your Patreon and you message us, more facts.
More.
About Bond and Sweden.
More.
Give us more.
Because if you know what, we have never been able.
Is Andrew Hayes not at all in our list this month?
I can double check that.
I don't think he is.
Oh, my God, he actually unbledged.
He is a ghost now.
What an asshole.
He's a ghost in McAil's house.
Can we send him a message?
You know what the fuck?
Yeah.
You are not fulfilling your duty.
You are slacken, man.
Stay here, Mikhail.
Mikhail will be right back.
We need to speak with another patron really quick.
Nah, you have our undivided attention, man.
Thank you.
