reject goodness.
Tadda!
Yeah.
What did you think of the scary motion picture?
You know what?
I liked it.
This movie and I think like parody movies are not really in my realm of like I
definitely am going to see that movie and I love it.
But I did enjoy it and I didn't get all the references because again I got like
the Friday the 13th one.
Some of the scream stuff because I think I've seen the first one like a
long, long time ago.
I think overall, I think all the actors did a nice job.
I'm not surprised that the Weinsteins produced this, both of them.
When I saw that, I was like, yeah, that tracks.
Which is funny.
You don't have produced a lot of stuff.
Just a weird, like, they produced, obviously, like a ton.
But to have their names on this, just made me laugh to see their names come up.
and yeah I mean I liked it I had fun I didn't get like all the references but I thought everybody did a great job and there is definitely a lot of jokes in here sometimes I get like worn out where I feel like I am supposed to be laughing at all I get that as a joke and this is the punchline sometimes those movies where I'm like oh but I'm not going to like laugh out loud but sometimes I feel like I should it was kind of like
that for me because I get the joke but it's like when you're reacting to it I want to laugh so that
people realize I get it yeah but not all of them were like hilarious to me but there was like a lot
of good writing where it was like back to back to back to back jokes yeah like in pretty much
everything and even in the background like corpse high school like all that little stuff was
really great and like what was her thing like the reporter was like I'm rich they're
dead like all of those little things i really thought was smart and i enjoyed yeah i feel like it
definitely has that blend of stuff that's a little bit more uh clever or like word play oriented
or that's playing off a particular moment and then there's all the other jokes that are like slapstick
or like here's a gay joke or here's you know some uh sexual you know situation that's outlandish
or whatever and yeah it's like some of those things are obvious and you kind of get the point and
it's a bit more on the, you know, the juvenile side.
Right.
And then there's other stuff that feels more clever and inspired and whatever else.
Totally.
And yeah, I mean, like, I don't begrudge them that blend because certainly for what this is
and for the spirit that it's in and for what kind of movies it's drawing from and the fact
that they all center around teens and whatnot, you know, it makes sense, but I get you.
Yeah, it totally does.
And I mean, like, it's not necessarily like airplane, you know, where just like airplane is like
tons of like random word play jokes and it's all going a mile minute but even that movie has that
quality of like here's some stuff that's like kind of dumb and silly and then here's some stuff that's
actually very clever yeah and so i feel like yeah that that's definitely the terrain for parody
movies but having said that um and having seen a good handful of other parody movies uh this is
certainly one of the good ones one of the better ones and it's something that gregg always
mentioned i remember gregg's saying a few times over the years is that this movie
in particular, and I did notice it here, is actually shot like a real movie or more like a real
scary movie than a lot of other parody movies are. Like a lot of parody movies you'll see
have this sort of flat comedy movie lighting or filmmaking just, you know, quality to it. Whereas
this definitely felt like they observed how the films are made. And yeah, there are things that
are referencing and parodying, you know, specific movies and specifically.
specific moments and whatnot and those do to some extent rely like you know I've seen scream recently so that was real fresh in my mind but like I know what you did last summer is like I remember the stuff that everyone remembers cultural osmosis but I don't really remember that movie very well and even with that I was able you know to make it through it yeah you get it it's not so deep cut that you can't get it right and and yeah it's like even if some of the jokes are obvious I thought the cast was all very game and I enjoy
watching everybody, certainly.
And it made me want to see some of these characters again.
You know, I know I think some of them must persist
in the scary movie, too, and beyond.
Right. Like, I feel like with what you were saying,
they didn't take any shortcuts in shooting this,
which normal parody movies I think would
in regards to lighting or stunts, they would go,
oh, I don't know, he can be also the girl
and just throw a wig and a dress on
and people will get it, right? They'll just use, like, the same actors.
But there's the stunt that mostly surprised me was grandma rolled down the stairs and the piano came down after.
I was like, that looked amazing to me.
And also the other stunts with Anna Farris that goes up in the ceiling and then she gets shot with a bunch of.
I couldn't believe like the reveal, honestly, I think was my, the run that she does in the lunchroom.
That was my favorite.
That I laughed.
I was like, that is hilarious.
The run.
And then the reveal at the end in how different, like, his.
walk and then how different he looked
I was like what in the actual F I thought it was great
yeah yeah oh well and that and that is a reference
directly to yeah you called out the movie
a different movie entirely and it's not even a horror
movie it's like a crime thriller
and to go there for the reveal like I think stuff like that
is fun because to you know a lot of the other
parody movies don't really stick to their genre
they'll send up comedies and they'll send up kind of
anything commercials whatever and certainly this did
here or there there was the was up commercial and there's yeah the usual suspects gag but i thought
even that was like a great way to surprise you the audience with what you know about scream and using
that against you to kind of create an actual twist and it makes sense of like who would be around all
of this and be the most sort of unsuspecting person it makes less sense for it to be too fee totally and uh and
yeah it's like little flourishes like that where it's like yeah this is silly but yeah that transition out of
doofy walk into reveal killer walk is great and like little little flourishes yeah are their
commitment to certain stunts their commitment to uh yeah just the language of these movies i thought
was really fun and and yeah it's like even if part of the point of these things is like to throw
a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks and some of it's going to and some of it's not yeah
i thought that this at least managed not to like a look up trivia why you never got grating or
annoying or outstayed, it's welcome.
Like, I was always having a good time.
And yeah, if there was one joke...
It kept moving, like, to the next.
Like, the scenes were, like, you would be like,
oh, it's quick, like, what's up?
And then it would immediately cut into...
And even that, like, I liked how much of, like...
I liked what they did with the ghost face persona here,
because obviously you have the guys who are playing off of Skeed
All Rich and Matthew Lillard and those, you know,
those actual recognizable actors persona.
But, you know, having ghost face be his own, like, weird bro character.
And he's, like, hanging out with Shorty.
And then he's, like, you know, chilling at times.
And then other times he's, like, super cunning.
But then every time he's around Cindy, he's, like, a complete clutz.
Like, just the personality they gave him.
And the change, the brief moments where they would, like, change the shape of the mask face
to make him just, like, an actual character instead of a mask was pretty fun.
Yeah.
I like that as a motif.
Have you seen an airplane?
You must have seen airplane, right?
Like a long time ago, I do not really.
remember it yeah because like you know they're they did some of that too where they would have like
a play on words or some kind of clever you know pun of some kind and yeah and i appreciate that
tradition as well it's like they they just i think greenlit finally a new scary movie and i think
the wayne the wands brothers i think are going to come back because they if i remember correctly
the wandses did the first two and then they took a break and then zucker abram zucker
like the airplane crew took over for at least some of them oh wow there's that many there's five i think
as of now that's a lot yeah so you know this certainly has i'm sure changed and grown in different ways
over time uh but uh in that tradition this is certainly closer to an airplane than it is to like a date
movie or epic movie or what yeah like uh yeah this is a lot of fun thank you to hul for sponsoring
today's video now guys i'm going to give you all the god's honest truth of how this sponsorship
came to be we got contacted about basically partnering up with huel before we agreed to anything
the very first thing i said was i would like to try the product first i did a instagram post
on our real rejects one it was the first time you see me trying the huel product basically going
like hey we might not partner with them this is not a paid instagram post but i just wanted to try it since
A lot of you guys asked for, like, health recommendations now and the know kind of what I take only because of the fact that I'm vegetarian.
I have very limited protein options.
So I gave it a shot and ended up loving it.
Primarily the chocolate one.
Wow, this is really, this is a really great one.
One of the best things about it is that, yes, it's pre-packaged.
And a lot of times when it comes to, like, the prepackaged bottles, I'm not a big fan of them normally.
Which he got me drinking on camera is one of these, which takes a very long time to put together and can often get messy.
It's just not aesthetically pleasing, but I'm trying to pack like a lot of vitamins and fiber protein.
The best part about Huell is a lot of what I try to pack it to this one giant shake is already available in this little bottle.
Often taste better than what I can actually assemble myself.
It actually tastes great.
It's got a high protein intake count as well.
And you know what?
Brad new bottle.
If you guys can see, it's filled to the top.
This is how good it tastes.
Now normally what you want to do is spread it out, but if you want it in one go, it is just as good.
It tastes really freaking good.
Thank you so much for sponsored this video.
The one thing they want me to say is this is you can get 15% off Huell today with code
rejects at Huel.com slash Rejects.
Fuel your best performance with Huel today.
They are great and I am already almost out of the many bottles they sent me.

You'll see they've got a whole bunch more items available as well.
And if they taste anything as good as this,
I'm going to be a very happy customer for a very, very long time.
So join me on this health journey.
Should I read a couple trivia?
Let's hear it.
Let's go.
Okay. At around 54 minutes, when Ray and Brenda are in the movie theater,
the preview screen reads,
the following P-View has been asked proved for immature audiences only.
If you can read this, you are too close,
pee-pee, poopy, boogers, varts, butthole.
Rated I for Immature.
we thought it would be funny to put this here and kiss our asses and take it off pause.
That's like the whole thing.
They wrote it out.
I got a little bit.
I caught the pee-poo-poo-bigger part.
Yeah, yeah.
The original script featured a cameo role for Jamie Lee Curtis as Cindy would discover her hiding in a closet in her house while her killer was chasing her up the stairs.
That would have been funny.
I would have really love that.
The lunchroom menu at the high school reads, same old shit.
Sure.
I'll read a couple more.
In one of the first scenes in Cindy's bedroom,
she says,
Would like to have a little bump bump?
The line was originally written for Scream, 1996,
but it was later changed to
Would you like to have a little raw footage?
Okay.
That's a better line.
Yeah.
But I like that they used the original here.
Totally.
They must have got a copy of the first draft on.
Yeah, right.
When Anna Ferris landed a part in the film,
she was working in an ad agency.
It was only a week away from movies.
moving to her company's London office.
Wow.
That this movie changed her whole life since she became an actress.
And she's really funny.
Like she carries this really nicely and seeing where her career has gone since then
and seeing her rise as a comedic leading lady.
Like, yeah.
Also, I have to read one more.
Jared Leto was offered to play Bobby during the early stages of casting.
He eventually declined in favor doing Requiem for a Dream,
which also starts scary movie writer, actor Marlon,
Wayans. Oh my God, that's right. I haven't seen Requiem, but I remember hearing Marlon Wayans is in that movie. Yeah. Oh my God. Are there any spoiler ones? Oh, yeah. Let's, let's look. I'm always curious about what the spoiler facts would be. Let's, Un a moment. Marlon Williams, too, like, he's not in this movie a ton, a ton, but I'm always like pleasantly surprised when he shows up in like dramatic stuff because I think he's really funny, but also, you know, he's got some chops as an actor as well. And like him and Sean both, like, I, and I,
Again, growing up with, with, I'm going to get you Sucka, certainly.
It was like a Keenan Ivory Wayans and just a Wayans family, you know, production and stuff like that.
And so, yeah, seeing more, seeing them in this context was a lot of fun again.
Okay, so in an early script, it was going to reveal that the killer was Damon weigh-ins for his brothers holding out on him in this movie.
Oh, my God.
But due to scheduling conflicts, it was rewritten the way it is now.
What? What was Damon busy doing?
Wow.
They couldn't work that.
out. That's insane. That's his
brother. Let me read
another one. Because Keenan Ivory shows up in the
Obistad 2 train. Right. I'm like
what? At around
one hour and 18 minutes, the last scene
where Duffy starts walking properly
and his crippling was just
his acting is taken
from the usual suspect. Which you called out.
I'll read one more. When the killer calls
Cindy at Buffy's house and
says she got the wrong guy, Mrs. Gilmore
runs out of the room and calls for
Duffy. If you listen close enough,
After Ms. Gilmore says Doofy's name, the killer is heard saying, no, it's me before hanging up and doofy quickly comes out of his room.
A subtle hint that doofy really is the killer.
We missed it.
That's a good spoiler.
That's a good spoiler.
That's a good detail to put in your movie.
That shows that you are paid.
That you're aware.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That you're putting effort in.
Yeah, that it's not just an easy, like, make it doofy, especially after it's supposed to be a Wayne, brother.
Well, that's the thing is like they put some actual, again, it's silly and certainly like there's all manner of appropriateness on display.
I'm sure certain jokes of age better than others, but like it seems like they definitely put time and care into crafting this madcap experience into laying little details in as much as it is like a goofy cartoon.
At the same time, you have to, like that's the thing.
It's like with the cast, I really appreciate that, yeah, it's like you've got to find that right balance of taking.
everything seriously enough to sell it and to make sure that everything is on point and you're
doing a good job but also not so serious that it becomes you know to slapstick to or or yeah or or
like where your commitment is like clashing with the slapstick or something like it never fell
into that word it's like yeah it's like too seriously right you know or yeah it was like the right
because you got to find a balance in parodies yeah because like being too broad and too silly and
kind of, you know, you could have, they didn't do too much of the wrong kind of winking at
the camera at the audience.
I agree.
Oh, actually, that reminds me and you saying that.
I loved it when the camera hit her head and she said, ow, that was like the best, like,
meta moment.
I was like, I loved that moment.
Like, that stuff catches you and you're like, and then you think of a ton of different
versions of a shot like that.
And then the next time you see a dramatic push in, you're going to be like, you know,
it's a scary movie.
Totally.
It's going to come to your mind.
Yeah.
Well, all right, gang.
This was a joy and a blast.
Leave us your thoughts on scary movie.
Should we continue catching up with the rest of the franchise before part six,
before the Wayans Brothers' triumphant return?
Leave us all your thoughts.
What's your favorite gag?
What's your favorite moment?
Your favorite reference?
All that good stuff.
And we'll catch you on the next one.
Oh, hey, the final question, of course, the obvious one.
What's your favorite scary movie?
Parity.
This is good.
Your favorite parody movie.
There we go.
We got there eventually.
You did it.
Anyway, be well, people.
Wala!
