It's always a discovery here through Reject Nation, and we're about to discover some classic comedy.
Yeah, we are.
Let's jump into this thing.
Oh, my goodness, gang, we did it.
We watched scary motion picture, the fourth.
And, oh, my goodness, gracious name.
I see, I was right, Holly Madison.
Hey, all right.
Right. You did it. You know your Playboys. There we go. You're welcome. Know your playboy bunnies. Yep.
As you should. For the articles. Of course. Tara. As a spoof movie aficionado, being that this is your favorite genre of cinema. And there's a high bar to live up to in your personal book. All right. How do you feel? Just first thoughts about scary movie.
motion picture
forever. Here's how I thought it snagged
me is because I love the movie
War of the Worlds. I love that movie and so
that made it more entertaining for me
because I understood the references like right
away. I have not seen the grudge so I
didn't but I still like that. I really
liked the... I feel like if you know
the J-horror tropes you'll pretty much get it. You kind of get it.
Yeah well I thought... It's like the ring in that way. I thought
everything looked good. Like everything
looked horror-esque, the set for War of the World's, every scene.
Sucker and Craig Mason, were the voices of the two billies.
Oh, of the, of the, yeah.
They did a really good job.
They sounded like him.
Like, there is something about his voice that makes me feel very nostalgic or, like,
home-like.
Like, I really like his voice so much, which is weird, because he is saw.
No, I get it, though.
Like, somebody should make, you know, it would be great, because, uh, you know,
If Tobin Bell himself did like an ASMR channel.
Oh my God.
I would listen to it all the time.
It's just jigsaw giving you affirmations.
Yes.
And you could just, yeah, you can just chill to it.
Sign me up.
I'd be down for that.
What I was going to say is that I really liked the sets that they did.
Everything looked really, really great.
Especially the War of the Worlds.
All of those scenes were exactly how, kind of how it looked in the movie.
They did a great job with that.
Great.
with the lighting, great with like
the war stuff, even the
special effects with the aliens look
the same, the alien in the house.
The only CGI thing was really when the arms
took up the people, but the rest of it actually
looked really, really good.
And I think the tripod CGI
was pretty good. It was pretty good.
I mean, it wasn't like perfect, but it was
pretty sinking good. It's better than you expect
and it looks actually better than like the tentacles do.
That's what I meant, like the thing that grabs
them, that's obviously CGI. And the
rest, but the rest of the
special effects and that looked really, really great.
And I thought they, they did a really good job with that.
And I like when they can, I mean, maybe they had a boosted budget for this because
it's obviously the fourth one.
So they were able to make it look very realistic, which I appreciate, even if I'm
not like laughing my ass off at everything, because I'm like, parody sometimes to me,
I'm like, I can't be laughing the entire time, right?
Except that they have, like, every other line is a thing that you're like, is laughable.
Yeah, right?
It's either like a silly joke or a reference or, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, like, that's sometimes the hard line to toe for me.
It's like, yeah.
But I liked it.
I thought that it was fun.
Would you say this is your favorite of the four?
Of the four.
I kind of get that sense, but I could be wrong.
No, I think so because I think, honestly, the fact that it's where of the world really got me going, and I loved it.
Sure.
Because I love that movie, and so I really like that reference a lot.
Absolutely, and it's funny, looking at the comments on scary movie three, a lot of people were like, you know, okay, well, now it's all downhill from here.
You've witnessed the last good scary movie.
And it's been, you know, a long time since the last time I saw this.
And I feel like, you know, three was probably more familiar in the revisit than four was.
But, you know, I really enjoyed this, too.
Like, it's weird.
People were like, oh, get ready for a drop-off.
But I thought this was just as fun and enjoyable as the previous one.
Those people want pee and diarrhea and projectile vomiting every five seconds.
Okay.
That's what I want, Tara.
Okay.
Just pee Geyser, the whole movie.
just bomb core everywhere projectile everything all bodily fluids all the time yeah no yeah i thought
this was a lot of fun and it carried over the same sensibility that you shifted to in the previous
movie with the zucker abram zucker kind of airplane style mad capness i mean you know it's the way
brothers ones have the slapstick they have the crude humor um and i feel like what what sort of
separates these is is that yeah there's that sort of um gleefully
silly spirit that is like more innocuous in a way and it gives everything this sort of a different
kind of comedic absurdity that I find very charming and enjoyable and again this is you know that it has
those wordplay jokes and those sight gags that even when they're obvious or dumb or stupid they
still get that like begrudging laugh out of you I love I love little moments like you know we're
already finishing each other's dinner.
Dinner.
Or I saw a face in that house.
Did it have a nose?
Or the lock, go on three.
That was a fun.
Yeah, the lock thing.
That's like who's on third base,
kind of, kind of.
You know, that was fun.
It's one of those things that breaks the
necessity for you to know a bunch of
references and just go, like I,
you know, you need references for
what kind of movie this is, but it's always
like a nice little break when you just
get an honest to goodness joke that's just
a joke that happens to be situational
to the parody.
Totally.
You know? And again, I thought
the blend of things to
parody was pretty smart in terms of
okay, War of the Worlds, that gets your big global
stakes, and then the grudge gets your
sort of personal stakes, and then they find
these kind of fun and goofy ways
to blend the movie plot
circumstances together just enough
so that they kind of
coalesce into a story. Like, all these
movies are sketch-based.
But this one, yeah, like, it's
weird. I thought three was really funny
and it again had
that sort of light silly Zucker
flavor that is
enjoyable but I think this one in a way
had maybe slightly more
at least on the filmmaking side
I feel like the previous one was like a shift
in the humor
and we talked about like the first movie feels like a real
movie the second movie feels like a
Halloween episode of something and then the third movie
feels like a parody movie and this
one does two but I thought
this one in terms of yeah the lighting the
look of things the way they recreated the film stylings and stuff like that while not maybe quite as on that again this is the way scary movie feels kind of like a scream type movie it's not a hundred percent on that level but this was certainly like it felt a bit more cinematic than i was expecting maybe yeah yeah i think it did and i think it wasn't as the third one was like the little hand going in food and all that right no that was the second one that was your favorite one scary movie
The struggle is so real
because I just saw the guy in this one
and I have PTSD.
Well, that's the other weird thing too is you have
PTSD, dude. You don't have a lot
of connecting tissue between the original
two and everything after
that except for Anaferra's and
Regina Hall killing it continually.
Yeah. But yeah, you got Carmen
Elektra back from the very first movie and
you got Chris Elliott back from the second movie
which is just like one of those interesting
like, you know, at
that point in time you just have to know like
okay we are bringing some people back from the last one
I don't know
people weren't as online there wasn't as much discourse back then
but it does seem like an interesting wrinkle
now that you know all the
behind the scenes turmoil
of like how these movies got taken away
from the Wayans Brothers and blah blah
right but despite all that
drama and stuff like that like this moved
in a way where yeah
like it just kept on going
there weren't too many jokes that outstayed
they're welcome there are I agree with
gross out beats and moments.
But even the thing, like, you know, she's giving the sponge bath to Chloris Leachman, which is gross.
Yeah.
But, like, that, I feel like could have gone on for, for a long, long time.
You're right.
You're right.
You're right.
Thank goodness.
But, yeah, a lot of fun slapstick bits.
And again, these live and die on just the commitment of the cast.
And, I mean, hats off to Onifaris for continuing to hold these down.
And I think Craig Birko, like, I liked the involvement of both Simon.
Rex and Charlie Sheen in the last one.
I thought it was fun that they turned up here.
And again, even that makes me curious about the circumstances because clearly they were
willing to show up, but the story didn't have much for them to do other than a couple
of gags.
So, like, that's interesting.
But I thought Craig Bierko was a great choice for, you know, the foil to Cindy's energy,
to Alan Ferris's energy.
Great match for Tom Cruise.
And just something about the way his comedy was in this movie.
like I believed again that earnest commitment to the sincerity of the situation but he's also got that for me a very charming comedic energy that often tickled me and that really does sell again those silly you did have a nose you know like he really sells the concern of those moments yeah thank you to huell for sponsoring today's video now guys I'm going to give you all the God's honest truth of how this sponsorship came to be sponsorship came to be
We got contacted about basically partnering up with Huell.
Before we agreed to anything, the very first thing I said was I would like to try the product first.
I did a Instagram post on our Real Rejects one.
It was the first time you see me trying the Huell product.
Basically going like, hey, we might not partner with them.
This is not a paid Instagram post, but I just wanted to try it since a lot of you guys asked for like health recommendations now
and the know kind of what I take only because of the fact that I'm vegetarian.
I have very limited protein options.
So I gave it a shot and ended up loving it.
primarily the chocolate one. Wow, this is really, this is a really great one.
One of the best things about it is that, yes, it's pre-packaged, and a lot of times when it comes to, like, the pre-packaged bottles,
I'm not a big fan of them normally, which he got me drinking on camera, is one of these,
which takes a very long time to put together and can often get messy, and it's just not aesthetically pleasing,
but I'm trying to pack like a lot of vitamins and fiber protein.
The best part about Huell is a lot of what I try to package,
this one giant shake is already available in this little bottle often taste better than what I can actually assemble myself. It actually tastes great. It's got a high protein intake count as well. And you know what?
Brad new bottle. If you guys can see it's filled to the top. This is how good it tastes.
If you wanted in one go, it is just as good.
It tastes really freaking good.
Thank you so much for sponsor in this video.
The one thing they want me to say is this is you can get 15% off Huell today with code
rejects at Huel.com slash Rejects.
Fuel your best performance with Huel today.
They are great and I am already almost out of the many bottles they sent me.
If you guys do go check them out at Huel.com slash rejects.
You'll see they've got a whole bunch more items available as well.
And if they taste anything as good as this, I'm going to be a very happy customer for a very, very long time.
So join me on this health journey.
I also feel like this is, could be where we figure out maybe that Charlie Sheen is no longer married to Burke Shields because she is not in this movie.
Because remember how that all, or Denise Richards, sorry, Denise Richards, which I think is funny because I was like, I was thinking in my brain the whole time.
Like when did they get divorced and when they did wasn't a big blow up and he was like cheating.
And then I'm like, the three girls are in that.
would he actually sign up to do that recently after the divorce like all these thoughts were going
through my brain but um yeah i'm curious about that absolutely we got a ton a ton a ton of cameos in
this as well you got shack you had dr philip yeah had fabulous molly shannon you got
anthony and and kevin hart back yeah yeah little john this is also too in like the huge like blingera
hip-hop phases like everything is there's a 50 cent joke in here uh
funny to see also too it's like what's happening in horror movies what's happening in popular
culture which as of these movies is very much hip hop and it's funny to see scary movie
one and two like certainly have hip hop elements and references and and you know they're coming
from a black perspective more so than these are so there's a different inroad to that but then
you shift to scary movie three and four which you know again is like the airplane team but
you're also in a moment in pop culture where just like hip hop is so ubiquitous that it's
just like funny to me that three and four have the most overt hip hop shit in them yeah um holly
madison bridget marquotte and uh marquart and uh kendra wilkinson are your playboy ladies yeah
yeah yeah that's right and then a bunch of other just like so many people who showed up in this
were either comedians like alonzo bowden was in here or just uh other i don't know like they've always
had comedic actors and and cameos and stuff the japanese ghost women in the office i thought was a great
sort of sight gag and stuff like that.
Oh, yeah, that's true.
This does make me wish for, you know,
it makes you want more saw.
Part of me wants to see a scary movie
that has a more saw as the main driving.
Like, this had the saw wrap around,
but one that is more borrowed from those movies.
Right?
Yeah, exactly.
From start to finish,
because Saw just like keeps going,
he keeps putting you through those like things
and the way that those movies connect
in such a smart way.
Oh, yeah.
And the twist and turns in those movies
are so great like yeah
I would I would love that too I also love
in the credits that there are certain people just credited
as were you naked alien
attack my bowels have stopped
moving that's a good
poop joke that was a good
poop joke are there any
trivia facts Tara that we can
look at before we get out of here
we also had some M Night Shyamalan in this movie
we had the village got to shout
out some Shamelon too because that's
the point in time we're at
yeah I'm excited
excited to see what waits in store as a new scary movie,
you know, crests its way into our world.
It's like now with the way-ins is coming back,
I have no idea what to expect because we've seen the ups and downs
that at least their movies can have.
We've seen some of the ups and downs, and we have one more.
We have scary movie five, so we'll see how that goes
and who's behind that.
But we've seen some of the ups and downs of both flavors of this.
And now I'm very curious as to how this will progress into the future.
What do you got for trivia?
Okay, let's do it.
The Saw and Saw 2 from 2005 sets are so exact that they look as if they are the same ones using the original films.
That's what I said earlier too.
The Saw Producers ask if they could use the bathroom set for the film, Saw 3.
Are you serious?
That's insane.
They probably saw 3.
That was the bathroom.
That is amazing.
Isn't that great?
That's awesome.
Props to the props and set dressing department because I will give it to, especially this movie.
had some good set designs.
Okay, how much do you think that Anna Farris got paid for this movie for doing this?
$30 million.
Oh, no.
The interest is more than this cost to make, a million bucks.
Yeah.
So Anna Farris' stage, she did not want to do this movie, but could not turn down the million dollar paycheck.
I would not either.
She didn't want to do it.
She did not want to do it.
Doesn't say why.
She doesn't want to be just scary movie forever.
Although I will say, before you continue, props to her, because I still thought she was funny and I couldn't tell she didn't want to do this.
And I appreciate that.
I couldn't tell it.
She didn't want to do this.
My assumption is she just wants to do all of them because she's been, yeah.
Yeah.
I feel like across these movies, she has been, like, for the ups and downs, she's funny.
She's been holding it down and I appreciate her sticking it out.
Yeah, me too.
so there was there's something that appeared in the poster for this movie that never ended up in the film what do we
just take a guess it's an animal but like an animal that's in a movie kangaroo jack no king Kong was in this
poster and never appeared in the movie what don't know why okay was peter jackson's king Kong out
around this time or something how yeah how would you even what would you even do with that right um well
they would have King Kong show up with a large banana.
And take a dump.
Let's take a dump.
The inability of Shaquille Neal to make a free throw
in order to save himself a Dr. Phil is somewhat an inside joke,
although consider one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
He's often criticized for his poor free throw,
which you called out.
In addition to this movie, Deborah Wilson often impersonated,
oh, Oprah Winfrey, so that must have been her on Mad TV.
Okay, I knew her vibe was familiar.
Week, since we haven't seen the grudge, this is why Bill Pullman was in it.
He starred in the movie.
He's in the grudge?
Yeah.
So that's why.
We got to watch the grudge some, or I guess you and Roxy will have to watch the grudge someday because I have to get a special passport to do horror now because it's your turf.
I don't know, man.
Okay, I'll read the last one.
This is the first scary movie franchise to be shot in high-deaf video.
Okay.
It looked a little high-deaf.
Yeah.
The deaf was defining.
Totally.
The set design, though, bingo.
Well, not bad.
Tara, four movies in.
We got one more to go for this current cycle.
Rank them.
Oh, my God.
Rank them, Tara.
Two is at the bottom.
You all know I can't with that, okay?
What happened in three?
Because I get them all confused.
Three was...
Three is the ring and three is...
But, yeah, what habit?
But they were running...
Brenda was running through...
It was the one where they're running through the hallways, right?
No, that's part two.
That is.
Part two is the one.
Okay, so part one is scream, essentially,
and I know what you did last summer.
Part two is there in the mansion.
Yeah, at the bottom, I know.
So you have all that stuff in the basement and the shit.
Yeah, and then part three, you are eight mile and you are the ring and you are signs,
Charlie Sheen, and they're on the farm.
Yeah.
And then you're in rap battles and shit, and then you're in.
Right. Okay.
A lot of, like, a lot of more familiar settings.
Then I think that this one, four,
is at the top, one goes after that, then goes three, and then goes two.
Okay, that's an interesting ranking, for sure.
Yeah.
I don't even know, man.
Like, that's a difficult question.
I would like to fire you for asking me that.
But I won't.
I'll keep you.
No, thank you.
Like, I hate that question.
I do, too, because I would have so many different ways to look at a ranking that I don't even know how I would actually do the ranking.
And each time we've watched one, I've had a very,
fun time sharing them with you. And I am obviously going to put the one that everybody hates
at the top because I am not the person for this franchise, although you guys have chosen me
to be. I am here for you. You are the spoof queen. I am surprised because, yeah, I thought
this was really funny and it didn't feel like a noticeably, even in hindsight, it felt less
of a, it didn't feel like a step
down or like a, or like
oh goodness, you know, I really see what people
were talking about in this one. Like I would definitely
put two at the bottom just because
two is a bit of a, it has
a few specific tricks.
And not that these movies don't all have a few
specific tricks, but the second one, yes, is
the sort of like gross and off putting one.
Three and four are almost interchangeable
in a sense because they have that same
gleeful spirit and at least right now, like
I enjoyed this one quite a bit and I feel like
in some ways, again, the seams of the filmmaking
are a little less apparent than in the previous movie.
Like you said, like there's something about
like the brightness of some of that lighting
that does make it feel like a parody movie
versus this one had a bit more of that commitment to shadows.
Kiaroscuro and other filmmaking terminology
that I'm sure was heavily considered, pondered,
and employed on the set of this movie.
Anyway, this has been a lot of fun.
And hey, we just witnessed Tara's favorites.
That means that this trajectory in terms of joy is on an upward
And now it's just up to scary movie five to put the cherry on top
By being the best parody movie of all time
Can they stick the landing?
We will find out soon enough gang people
Tara you got anything else to say we good
