Guys, I'm undersleft. Let's watch Big Sakelittler Man. Three, two, one.
I love that that was directly out of the comics where Goblin was playing.
the gangs against each other.
Like there's a gang war
that happened in the 80s
that's big that spread across
like four different comic titles
but there was also a smaller gang war
in the 76, 75 era
that like Goblin was
manipulating everyone.
So that like was a fun mislead
as a fang because I thought
they were going to tell one story
and they told a totally different one
and then I was like,
it's got to be King Pit
and then it was obviously Goblin the whole time.
But once again, Harry or Norman
because Norman manipulated
Hammerhead and did the mask thing
but Harry had the glowing green vials
And Norman said that thing
He's like, oh, I got somebody
Yeah, yeah
And Harry wasn't around
Is he manipulating Harry for this
Or is he taking up the mantle
And looking and sounding exactly like his son
Well, I mean, he saw the power Harry had so
Yeah, and that's a fascinating switch
Or like instead of you know
Passing it down from father to son
You know, acquiring it
Yeah
Or has he been the goblin the whole time
And he was sending Harry on the lackey
Oh my God
And the globulent green just made him kind of
strung out and not actually the gob.
Yeah. I don't know.
Playing the long game.
So these two episodes kind of tied together.
Kind of like the last episode
is the first time they didn't really tie together.
But yeah, those two are both great.
Like the...
Well, I feel like the last time we watched probably
the introduction of Silver Sable
probably starts this little
gang war arc. Yeah, that's true.
That's fair. Because yeah, we just met Silver Sable.
Just met Silverman.
We did that Sandman episode, which was great.
And it kind of stood on its own.
And then, yeah, we had the sort of big, yeah, gang brawl.
Yeah, start into this.
Over the hard drive or the rhino drive.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I guess this is, yeah, these ones matched much better.
Yeah, these paired.
And then it kind of as a trio, you're right.
Really liked the manipulating of the villains.
I thought it was fun.
They were all pointing at each other.
I thought it was really interesting.
Yeah, exactly.
I thought it was really interesting how they finally revealed Tombstone to the public,
but also that's because.
of the, like, George Stacey relationship.
Like, I'm really digging their vibe.
Yeah, absolutely.
This feels like the Gang War Comics.
This definitely feels like that era.
Like, it's really fun to see stuff.
We don't get to see this adapted very often.
Like, this is what I wanted them to do the next movie out of,
a smaller, more contained story.
You know, keep it to New York.
Keep it smaller.
Like, not a global threat.
Like, literally protect your city.
Because that would be Kingpin, Daredevil, you know,
new villains we haven't seen.
Scorpion can come back.
Like, this is...
We need them to fight Galactus, Corey.
Obviously, he's got to go to space.
only one who can take
the power cosmic. He's got
to be silver surfer. Spider-Man has
gone cosmic. It's not the move. I'm sure.
Tom Holland, small, contained Spider-Man.
How many times has he gone magical,
mystical, Spider-Man? Definitely more than I like.
He's a friendly
neighborhood guy. Well, and that's what they're
so, and I'm sure we've said this in multiple
ways, but yeah, I was in these episodes
re-appreciating
how they're able to make
this feel appropriately big and
exciting and, like, destruction's
going down, but also like, this is kind of
lot for Spider-Man to take care of. And there's a reason
these fights are prolonged, not just because
you know, they're cool and stuff, but because, like,
this looks like hard work. Yeah. And it
looks like it takes a lot of energy
and mind power as well as physical
power. And I really like the messages being given
by that. Like, this is a lot of work, and he's doing a lot.
And, like, the Tombstone Beat down, all those fights are cool.
But at the end of the day, the human part of
the story is my favorite. Like, I really like that
Flash is seeing that you're getting
rewarded for being a good person. And I like that
kids watching this and adults watching this are seeing
that. I like that Peter did a really
dumb thing and he's our hero but like
we both winced and like that's
immediately not acceptable. I'm
yeah like I get
I'm not mad dramatically
because I think it does make dramatic sense
of like of course like in the in there's got to be
a follow I got to rush out you know in that
absent minded moment I mean
I'm sitting here going you need to if you're going to make
up a cover or you're dealing with people
you need to be in character until you're out of
the room Peter yeah but at the
same time being like you know still a teenager
I get how he'd be like I got to go
Gwen, I'm sorry, but also at the same time, I'm like,
dude, dude, like, that's the one moment I've wanted to strangle Peter for the most.
And yeah, and it, yeah, I like that they've taken time across this, especially with Liz.
And they've done it with Gwen as well, but like, I think more subtly with Liz to give her just moments where she's just reading the room and kind of reacting to it.
And you can tell something's on her mind and they wait a while to pay it off.
and yeah like this is this has been so great because uh because i so am rooting for them like i want
that to happen actually and it's over and i know that yeah it's over now and or it you know most
likely is and i know that gwen is like the canonical like he's got to be with gwen yeah but
mary jane's still there and and yeah and i like that they've made all three of them interesting
and distinct characters but that i am like sort of heartbroken for liz
Reject Nation, as a business owner, I'm actually terrible at tracking finances, believe it or not.
It's something I work on a lot because I can be forgetful.
I can have terrible oversight when it comes to tracking things.
I'm sure you can understand the immense hatred that comes with the feeling of forgetting to pay for something
or the feeling of consistently paying for something you forget to cancel or something that you just simply haven't thought about a while, so you keep paying for it, which is the same thing as what I just said.
Anyway, that's why I started using rocket money about a year and a half ago.
and that's today's sponsor.
And it's always cool to be partnered up with a product that you've already been using
before you started doing a sponsorship with them because it makes it more natural.
But seriously, Rocket Money has taken care of a lot of the thinking for me and has been a massive lifesaver.
Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money by canceling unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills.
Rocket Money does the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending, then customizes notifications to help you stay within your budget goals.
I was relieved to know that over 74% of people, not 75, but 74 specifically, forget about subscriptions.
they do not use. I was paying for things I don't even remember subscribing to.
Odds are with some free trial that I forgot to cancel.
But one of the best things about Rocket Money is it finds those things and makes it effortless to cancel them.
What I really love about Rocket Money's organization, it keeps everything in one place.
Imagine seeing all your subscriptions with just a tap and being able to cancel the ones you don't want.
It even compares your spending month to month so it's been able to help me stay on track with bettering my spending.
And one of the great benefits, too, I can absolutely attest to this.
money can also negotiate lower bills for you up to 20%.
With over 5 million users and $500 million saving cancel subscriptions,
it's helped people on average save up to $740 a year.
So stop wasting money on things you don't use like old Greg did.
Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash rejects.
Once again, that's rocket money.com slash rejects.
Help up your game and being financially responsible and reap the dang benefits, people.
And I love that Liz's brother seems like such a piece of crap.
with, like, what he's, the dealings?
Like, why does he know this crime thing?
Where to get that money?
But then about his sister, he's like, no, no, no, no.
Uh-uh.
Like, immediately.
You're not going to hurt my little sister.
Every character has so much going on that even, like, we've barely heard Mark Allen speak other than hit on Mary Jane.
But immediately we're like, oh, that fucking, don't mess with their sister.
Yeah.
That's so smart, such good writing.
Yeah, I love it.
And even their vibes together, like the fact that they'll still take time for that to be like,
hey, you know, we're both just not attached.
We're just party people, look it out to have a good time.
And then that is the kind of person
that would be drawn towards crime.
Sure.
That is the kind of person
that would be like,
here's a lot of flow.
It's like that's so perfect.
Yeah.
Even Kong's little moment at the end
where we didn't really see
it was at the table
and he kicks flash.
Like, it does a really good job
making everyone interesting.
Peter's still obviously the lead,
but I like that we can be mad at him
for doing something stupid
because people do stupid things.
I like that I could see season three
being Gwen and then Gwen dying
at the end of season three
and then four and five being Mary Jane.
I could see like,
it's such a shame this guy.
I know.
I knew when we got here.
It hurts more with each episode.
I knew we'd get here and I'd be upset and it happened.
And it happened.
It's finally happened.
I want those scripts so bad.
I want to just read the outline.
I know.
Call Greg Wiseman.
You're like, hey, bro, what will we got?
What is the plan?
Can you come on a live and break down the next three seasons?
Yeah, yeah.
Can we Expend 97 this, please.
They should.
We can have a multiverse.
I mean, I know there's a new Spider-Man show coming out, but multiverse.
I'm sure this is like, you know, everyone who has already seen this is like,
I remember my first crabbing paddy.
exactly must be nice to only now realize how frustrating it is but at the same time I'm like this is so good
I feel like you could make it an honest case and maybe they could resurrect how many honest cases
but also but it's been yeah it's been what since 2008 and uh he was he is in the spider verse
movie though that is this character that is true he is in spider verse yeah that with his
specific it's weird when we're watching the show I I get acclimated and everything looks totally
natural and then when I see him when I see him next to others
Spider-Man, I notice how small and also how
like interestingly shaped his head is. His proportions are weird.
Yeah, his proportions and stuff.
But it's perfect on this show.
And I've really enjoyed, as we've constantly pointed out,
but especially in these two episodes as well,
like the interesting choices of sound design and using the spaces
and really making like whatever place they're at,
like part of the aesthetic theme.
And the holidays.
I really like the setting, like the time and place.
Yeah, it's been really cool.
Absolutely.
and that you get these little glimpses like yeah you have like the fight that's going to break out at the opera and you have things happening at the you know valentine's dinner dance and all that stuff but like they bother yeah i don't know they make every choice feel like someone put thought into it and so it's like you know we get the opera house as kind of this little wrap around here or at least we keep checking in and we keep using it's the same way we did the the videotape for flash's birthday or the monologues for the play are very
various other motifs they've used.
And I think, yeah, they make a setting
that you're about to have a fight in a place
with a personality of its own
that kind of flavors everything.
And even when it's like, you know, a subway shaft
or it's, you know, a room full of gold bricks,
you know, everything gets like a little bit of flavor
and a little bit of seasoning.
And I think that's like, again, like watching something
like this is super fun and enjoyable, obviously.
And, you know, it's gratifying.
I would especially have to imagine, like,
as someone who's read all the comics.
But I think you could, like, low-key study these.
just for like...
Storytelling.
For storytelling
and for ways
in which you can use
animation and sound design
to like complement
the storytelling
and enhance it accentuate.
Also in two episodes
we had like eight villains
and it didn't feel heavy.
Like we had henchmen in one
and then like villains in the next.
Yeah.
The henchmen in the enforcers
and they were leveled up
into powered henchmen
and then we had full on supervillains
in the next one.
And none of these are
except Doc Ock characters
that get too much exposure
in other mediums.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, like they're not go-to bad guys.
Yeah, and that's what feels illuminating is it feels like, at least for me, yeah, like you have, you know, your certain upper echelon, like, classic Spider-Man villains, and then, you know, you kind of have like an A-B-and-a-C-tier on this particular show to me, whereas, like, you've got Goblin and you've got Ock, and then you've got, like, a shocker or an electro, and then, you know, you've got the, what's his name, you know, the ox and ricochet and the other guy who's shocker.
so you know you've got like these multiple levels
shocker and then you've got like the other guys
kind of below them yeah and uh and yeah
like you feel the I feel like the power
stuff is scaled well because it's like
yeah he can take on like
two or three or four like
you know kind of enhanced but you know
low level thugs and like that's
one level of fight but then when you get like four
of like the bigger villains together it's way
harder he gets crowbarred underground
train station yeah crushed by gold bricks
that was crazy um and these two episodes
too like you know like we said a lot of
these have felt very complimentary,
but these two almost felt like
they could just be one long episode.
It felt like a one-two punch
of henchmen into villains.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I, too, I like the motif
of the ride-around, the ride-along too.
And what's her name,
Flash's ex-girlfriend,
who is forced for a moment
to care about Peter's existence.
I forget her name, yeah, that's great.
And the trash thing coming back
with the suit smelling bad.
I love George Stacey.
Look at how paternal he's looking at him.
Like, I love the bond.
Yeah, the show is everything
people prepped us for,
and it is so,
bittersweet that we only have
one more of these. Please do leave a comment
below. Let us know what
Hobie Brown was going to do. If we'd gotten five
seasons, let us know. Does he always become
Spider- Punk, or does he become other things?
The prowler. Why in my
day, that's the prowler.
No!
Hobie Brown is the prowler in 6-16 continuity.
I feel like I knew
this, but had forgotten because I'm
used to not seeing him. Which is why
it's also fun play around with the
lore of Aaron Davis and
and Miles and all them
becoming the prowler
like the lore of Donald Glover
is interesting
because of that character change
there's a whole thing
but that is gonna do it
for this episode
your lovelies
