Produced by James Cameron (Terminator 2, Aliens) and directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), Dark Fate ignores the events of later sequels to present a reimagined future war. Linda Hamilton (T2, Children of the Corn) returns in full force as a hardened, battle-scarred Sarah Connor, driven by rage, loss, and a relentless mission to stop the machines — even as fate itself evolves beyond Skynet. Roxy & Tara break down all the standout moments: the shocking opening that redefines the franchise, Sarah Connor’s explosive reintroduction, the Rev-9’s brutal debut, the highway chase sequence, Grace’s physical toll as her augmentations fail, the emotional reunion with an unexpected ally, and the relentless final battle that pushes every character to their limit. They discuss how Dark Fate modernizes the franchise, shifts its thematic focus toward legacy and choice, and attempts to pass the torch to a new generation while honoring the past. Starting point is 00:01:00 This video is sponsored by Rula. More on them just a bit. Here we go. In 3-2-1, we'll be back. All right, citizens of the rejuignation. Are you okay if I could just go to the questions? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:23 I'm going to tell them. Because I'm like, yeah. If you're on Apple and Spotify, 5. stars thank you prepper for helping add us down we are going to go straight into the patreon questions because we don't want to yap we just want to know what it is you guys have to talk to us about um we kind of give our general thoughts at the ending there which was that this was an overwhelming movie not horrible like that it had uh good performers and happy that arnie was there totally because he said he would be back and then he was back all right tara
Starting point is 00:01:53 here we go let's take these patreon questions let's start with jadel Terminator Dark Fate. Hi, Tara, Roxy Sins Dark Fate brings back Linda Hamilton and basically rewrites the timeline. Do you think the story worked better by focusing on a new protector and a new target?
Starting point is 00:02:08 Or did the movie rely too much on nostalgia to land its emotional punch? We didn't think the movie fully worked, so it's hard to say exactly why. Yeah. I think I get where you're headed, Jadale. I just think the writing overall could have been a lot better.
Starting point is 00:02:28 powerful Terminator didn't need to be that powerful. It leaves a lot of plot holes. The nostalgia in regards to like all this CGI, I'm like, yeah, I don't, I am very surprised that James Cameron produced this and there's like so much CGI, not as much
Starting point is 00:02:44 practical as I would have liked, but there was no emotional punch for me. Yeah, me neither. I had no issue with the nostalgia factor. That was the part that we're, like I liked having Arnie in this. I like for Linda Hamilton showed up. It's great. So, yeah, that wasn't my issue. Captain Ferdinand, do you guys think ignoring the sequels after T2 was a smart move?
Starting point is 00:03:05 I think once again, this didn't fully work for us, so it's hard to say that it's a smart move. However, I didn't have an issue with the premise of that move, just like we didn't have an issue with it with Halloween. Right. If you want to scrap, if you want a reconna if you want to whatever, we're fine with it. Just make it good. Yeah. Just make it good. And this wasn't that. Not bad, not great.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Yeah. Because we loved Halloween, 2018. Well, we loved H2O. H2O, that's right. We were obsessed. And we loved 2018 also. Exactly. Yep.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Awesome, Joe, movie reviews. Terminator Dark Fate was the death of John Connor satisfying to you for you to tell the story? Or would you preferred for a grown Edward Furlong fighting Terminators alongside his mom? Yeah, I think I would have preferred that probably. I love the character John Connor. Yeah. And like, we didn't even. get to see really what happened. I mean, we get like a one
Starting point is 00:03:57 brief moment of it. Exactly. I kind of wanted to know a little more about that. I would have definitely preferred him. Grown, fighting alongside his mom, what the hell happened? Yeah. Dan V-900. The voice over to start T2 has Sarah say Skynet sent two terminators back. Dark fate
Starting point is 00:04:15 then says Skynet sent many throughout history resulting the death of John, meaning the Terminator in T2 never needed to die. I think it's the most egregious version of making T-2. too pointless. I'm not understanding the comment. The movie just gets rid of the emotional core of the franchise.
Starting point is 00:04:33 It gets to action way too quickly where, yeah, we talked about that show. You don't care. We don't care about Danny. Yeah, it was supposed to start a new trilogy, like the last two movies and the sequel would have been about grace in the future and consider T3 the best sequel to T2 with movies. What do you consider to be the best sequel to T2? Yeah, we like T3, the best of all of these. I don't get what your first point is. So I hear you, but I don't remember in T2, them saying they sent two back and this saying,
Starting point is 00:05:01 because I thought this didn't rec on T2, but maybe it does have slightly different information. I think she's saying, because we learned that they sent a lot back for the death of John, meaning the one T2 in T2 didn't need to die. The whole point was that we kill it so that it goes bye-bye and we are like safe. but why would that mean that well whatever i don't care yeah dan i do care a lot about your thing but um i think the most important part was the sequel question so t3 was the best one but we haven't loved i mean i love t2 t2 yeah yeah but he's saying it's the best sequel to t2 yeah t3 i mean i don't this one was this one was not great yeah more's great junior do you think this would have been
Starting point is 00:05:50 better if they presented it as what have had what might have happened instead of basically telling us viewers f terminator three were doing this instead no um i don't think that was the problem yeah it's not what was presented it's a lot of like script issues just um the writing wasn't very good the the villain is all too freaking powerful the pacing a little off we didn't get to know them it is too long it's way too long cut out dirty minutes make us care i honestly I actually think, Tara, that's an accurate number. I think cut 30 minutes. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:06:28 This could have been a 140 and it would have been tighter. I agree. And people probably would have liked you a lot more. Especially a lot of the stuff at the beginning. Fellow reject, I've been going to therapy since I believe around 2012. And admittedly in the past couple of months, I haven't been as consistent as I like to be. And with that, I tend to fall into, like, old patterns of having a difficult time asking for help, difficult time being honest with myself, having a difficult time just opening up in general. But
Starting point is 00:06:58 going back recently, it's helped me reconnect with my actual values in life. And already, I feel like the direction has been helping me get my mental health and personal life back on the track I wanted to be at. And that's why today I'm happy to talk about Rula. It's an online platform that helps you connect with licensed therapists that will specialize in you. Rula makes it easy to find affordable, high quality therapy that's actually covered by insurance. Thank you again, Rula.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Take care of yourselves, people. Jane Rhodes says, I can't describe how much I dislike this movie. I didn't know all you guys dislike this. They had me so excited when it came out. They're bringing back Linda Hamilton and Arnold. but I remember sitting down, rolling my eyes and being bored the entire runtime. I'm curious if y'all agree, where does this one place in the franchise for y'all? Yes, I am absolutely with you, unfortunately, and we know that you guys don't like it when we don't like a film, but we're never going to lie to you.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Exactly. There are some moments that we do like that. There's some cool stuff in here, cool effects I call it out when I see it, but I am, I was bored. The time dragged by for me. For the first hour, I, like, was genuinely like, oh, I need to get up and do jumping jacks because I'm feeling. Yeah. Tired. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:59 The thing is, I don't feel the way Jaden does where I can't describe out to just like this movie. Like, if somebody was like, what are movies that you hate? This wouldn't make my hate this movie list. Yeah, I know. It's bland. And all the issues that we've sat with it. So, bland is good. Jay Rushden.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Question, would ever watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles television show? I've heard it's good. Oh, you did? Yeah, I know nothing about it, but yeah, we would totally, I mean, I would watch it. I didn't know much. And then after this, I've been telling people watching, people say it's good. Yeah, yeah, now we know. Do you want to do some trivia? I've heard it's good. That one trivia? Yeah, let's do one more question. Thank you guys for asking these. Thank you for carrying this portion of it because Tara and I are lackluster by this. Yeah. J. Dell, Linda Hamilton trained for full year before filming, including weapons, drills, combat training, and intense conditioning because she wanted Sarah Connor to feel physically believable.
Starting point is 00:09:50 after decades of off screen. She was believable. The second you see you're like you're fit as hell. I think not only did I feel like she was fit as hell, but you know how sometimes action stars don't know how to hold a gun? Yeah, she does. She does.
Starting point is 00:10:03 And she looks super comfortable. I think that Linda Hamilton could not have done one thing to be better in this movie. I agree. This was so not her fault. She absolutely annihilated. Her chemistry with the other girls was great. She really looked amazing, physically fit the part.
Starting point is 00:10:20 knew how to do all of the things that needed to look like she knew how to do. I can't express enough how little the actors had to do with the issues that we have with this film. Any of them. Across the board. Across the board with her 100% on that.
Starting point is 00:10:34 It's not anybody in this. It has to do with producers, directors, writers. At the end of the day, I don't know who went, yep, when you could have probably made a lot better. Yeah. I'm with you on that. I'm kind of bummed because I kind of thought that we might
Starting point is 00:10:50 like this once we do see Arnie I was more into it yeah I thought it was really gonna be didn't it feel like it picked up a little bit and then it got exciting but then it kind of went yeah yeah we got to the Carl Cabin and I was like yeah baby and I was like oh baby yeah
Starting point is 00:11:07 unfortunately you any final words about this dude no I just I wish I liked it more you know I called out the good stuff there is still some good parts about this movie making a film as we both know it was really tough we've both been, you know, on films and we know how, there's just so many people that go into this film. So I always feel a little bit bad when I'm like, this is not good. But it's, it's just, it's not. And that's okay. I'm glad there's other ones. There's better ones that we've watched
Starting point is 00:11:39 and I've enjoyed those. There was a lot of people listed in the story by. And I was like, That looks messy. I think that there, this is what an old boss of mine used to always say, there's too many dicks in the soup. Yeah. And that it just means like when there's too many cooks in the kitchen. Right. This felt like overcooked.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And we tried to put in a lot of great stuff. And some of it really did land for me. Yeah. That's why this movie is mid. That's why it's not, to me, it's not bad. It's mid. The Ford John line made it for me. For John was great.
Starting point is 00:12:12 I was like, I'm glad they wrote that. And then the other two lines we really. When Arnie is dying at the end, we should be weeping. I know. And we certainly were not. No. Justice for Richie. Oh, I'm glad we're getting to the end.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Yeah, I was checking the clock a lot, baby. A lot. All right. That's it. Thanks, Rejects. And tell us what else, what are the franchises we should do next? Sheecks are here to stay. We appreciate you being along the ride.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Later.
