Starting point is 00:01:00 This video is brought to you by Look at I.B. and Harry's. That is in her dating bio. It's warm and I'm itchy. It's warm and itchy. It is just him, all him, only him. But I guess it's because he had the multiple stream set up. He must have had help from someone. I feel like a sequel would say, it's weird.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Because for a movie that's like as ridiculous as this, that's the one part of like, he must have had some help, right? have had like a little bit of it well I get that he had like different streams set up and you know probably being a copy at all those resources so that is having the help but it just seemed like in that one scene where I thought we saw her look and see him in the shot and then look back we must have just seen two other cops and he must have been going in and out and like the same thing at the parade obviously he's there but he's in that costume so or is a script supervisor mistake hmm yeah I don't think so yeah I blame the Don't blame the script supervisor or it was a terrible editing mistake. Damn, down. Guys, if you were listening to it's on Apple and Spotify, we just watched Thanksgiving. What ate a film that was. That was an experience.
Starting point is 00:02:19 That was different than what we've been watching lately. What do you think the budget on that movie was? Dude, it was like $10 million. Watch. They're ready for a Roxy. Thanksgiving 2023 budget 15 million I was close
Starting point is 00:02:33 I was really close yeah the 84% rotten tomato score that's really good yeah that's like especially for a slasher film that's really high
Starting point is 00:02:43 I thought this movie personally personal opinion with some criticisms was a ton of fun I think it's shot incredibly well and Eli Roth
Starting point is 00:02:57 I've only seen a couple of his film I'm not like the biggest Eli Roth fan in general um you know I've only seen like a couple of movies so maybe that's not like a fair thing to say you see knock knock keanu Reeves used to be like married to honor de armis who used to be Eli Ralph yeah I didn't know that yeah Eli Roth and honor to Armis are married they were interesting and then they got her boyfriend girlfriend are married and then they broke up and then she became a superstar and then she was Then it was like,
Starting point is 00:03:29 dating Ben Affleck and they broke them. That must be hard, you know, when you break up and then they become a superstar. Like Taylor. Yeah, tell that to all my exes because I'm a superstar. All right. All your exes. Take that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Your loss. Your loss. Suckers. Anyway. Suckers. Yeah. I thought this movie was a lot of fun. And I love the whimsy and energy behind it.
Starting point is 00:03:55 And I feel like oftentimes, at least with a few Eli Rothman, movies I've seen that there is a bit of like a juvenile quality to the way his films are done in the scripting and similar to how I sometimes say about certain Zach Snyder films I'm like good director probably needs a different writer and then right away I was like he probably did not write this movie and then he didn't he got there's someone else already he was one of the co-story creators and you can feel like you need that blend of someone who can just handle like the tone of Eli Roth but someone who's better with like dialogue and I thought, like, there was a good marriage between whoever this Jeff Rendell guy.
Starting point is 00:04:33 I don't know who that is, but the marriage between them, I think it's a really strong partnership as writer and director because, yeah, you get like the fun pulpy camp and the horror, the gore, and the voice, like to me, I was saying during the reaction, the voice of the film, the personality is my favorite character of it all. Like, there's a very specific kind of character because while it has homages, it still feels like it's its own thing, ultimately. I was I was impressed have some things have some criticisms have some nits to pick but rock strier would you think rock star yeah I'm totally with you I thought that he did a really
Starting point is 00:05:07 good job with this I think that the it's a kind of simple horror slasher movie but in a creepy place with the theme of Thanksgiving and the kills were unique like you said there's multiple different like oh I didn't expect him to use the gun the corn and the car the trampoline death like there was a lot of thought put into just how disgusting some of these deaths were and I think that that was the point of the movie right like he got as creative as he could under the premise that he made I am curious for sure about if I was to rewatch this we're like knowing that it's Patrick Dempsey if it would all make a hundred percent sense because when you you you know like when you you said it's Patrick Dempsey. I'm like, but that doesn't make sense. And then it is Patrick Dempsey. And I'm like, okay, maybe it does make sense. And maybe I'm seeing cop uniforms and places assuming that that's Patrick and it's not. So I'd love to rewatch this and just kind of go back and see how it all worked. But I think that that's cool. And I also think it is a good sign of a slasher film that for
Starting point is 00:06:13 halfway through you and I were like, I don't know who did this. And I think that it would have been a much easier way out to pick one of the boyfriends. So I'm glad that they didn't do that. And yeah, I liked the premise around the table, getting everybody around the table and cooking of the body, just disgusting. As a Plymouth girlie myself, do I wish that we had more Plymouth references? I do because the Pilgrims are so, it's so creepy. Thanksgiving's creepy. Plymouth, there's eerieness. There's creep city to it.
Starting point is 00:06:47 So I do think they captured some of it and they could have gone even more into it. This girl, I love. the main girl what did we decide her name was whatever it is she i thought she was like however he found her that girl's a star she's going to be huge i think i think she's great i think one thing the horror genre is they constantly open the door for like fantastic actresses yes it's it's strange how it's this genre okay there's two cop shots you're talking about yeah as we're as she keeps looking out yeah that's not patrick dempsey has okay so she sees him she sees him walk away And that's not Patrick
Starting point is 00:07:25 She has had those are two days Okay and then keep going Then there's the other We're just checking to see where Roxy thought she saw Because a few times she looks out And sees cops hold on Let's see And then later on when she gets the text and she goes in
Starting point is 00:07:39 She needs to know where to go We'll keep it going We'll keep it going No you can do the 10 seconds Yeah yeah at 1.5 or 2 Yeah we'll do 1.5 That's right we should just watch the movie at 1.5 So they were out
Starting point is 00:07:53 outside with him and then he walks away and then there's the cops that are there okay i don't think we that's the only time we see that no no we see it a couple of times when she goes she thinks about going outside when she gets the text see okay there it's not him yep i guess it was so far and you know i'm kind of blind i just thought that she kept looking at patrick i could see how i might lead the mind to believe that it is him yeah that's probably what happened but it was this scene when I started to suspect it was him literally like oh the exact halfway point of this movie where I was like oh you know a lot a lot of clues see okay yep not him again and it was because because I think for a horror movie one of the things that how a lot of these movies a horror movies usually go
Starting point is 00:08:42 so I'm talking and also that's the last time you could see the cops a lot of these horror movies I think it's there's one more time actually maybe because she thinks about going somewhere will be positive just for safety no but you're right you're right it's not them obviously those people that we keep okay the lights yeah um because that what made it suspicious he's so balls you to then come inside and do this when the cops are right out there that's crazy down it's great if no one would suspect to hide in plain sight yeah the part of it that made it like the most suspicious to me that it was him was because of the way this movie doesn't really have a you have a main character but you don't really have a main character perspective that's driving the narrative of
Starting point is 00:09:26 the film um and what way well like scream is like very much from like you know nev campbell's point of view uh except when you cut around to someone who's about to die you know you didn't think this was from her point of view i mean whenever you're in a scene with her it is but you often cut around to like other characters yeah yeah yeah it's more of ensemble i get what you're saying and because you never saw that with patrick dempsey because you never just got a scene with Patrick Dempsey outside of like when he's interacting with the main cast that was the biggest giveaway to me that it was him
Starting point is 00:10:00 yeah totally totally if it wasn't for the fact that I thought I had saw him outside I would have been more on board with that but now I guess we didn't and then the in the very beginning too when he like screams in agony and heard it because it's like they really alluded to Gina Gershens is a pretty respected actress and they really alluded to early on that he's like into her and so when she died and he screams in agony at the store it was like oh that's an interesting note so i thought
Starting point is 00:10:25 it was going to be like more of the main character than they set it up so yeah it had it had its clues but i i'm with you on that's one of my nits to pick because as much as i enjoyed the violence i enjoyed the humor i love i love uh like the black comedy behind it like all the the the combination of horror intention and just like violence that is so funny because of how absurd it is of like Black Friday it's like that reminds you of like a key MPL sketch those great key MPL sketches that would go real genre heavy it's um it I am with you that it would make more sense if there were two killers that there were like two people in on it and and maybe some of the timing purposes and like changing whatever it is but whatever we can suspend our
Starting point is 00:11:14 disbelief for that it's like not the most egregious there's only one killer movie I've ever seen All right, Reject Nation. So today I want to share something with you that has been a wonderful addition to my health and fitness journey that I discovered during the holidays. And that is liquid IV's hydration multiplier. I'm down to my very last packet and I'm freaking out. But it's okay. I got more in the mail. Now, a lot of you have been so kind to notice how I've been working on my physical health. Thank you for all the compliments. And one thing I learned is that proper hydration is absolutely crucial, especially post-workout and pre-filming after post-workout. And my wife actually introduced me to this product, which is perfect because we not only care about quality, but a good taste and quality product.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Whether it's after a sweaty workout or just after, you know, a good night out, you know what I'm saying? Efficient hydration and replenishing electrolytes is key. You just feel better, and it tastes fantastic. I can't emphasize that enough. Another thing that I'm always on the lookout for, too, is products that have zero sugar or zero sugar added. Because that's one of my main dietary restrictions throughout the week. And they, of course, got products that fit that description that also tastes good, too.
Starting point is 00:12:13 So, yes, thank you so much. So, liquid IVs hydration multiplier is, in summary, is they are a non-GMO electrolyte drink that delivers hydration into your bloodstream faster and more efficient than water alone. Sometimes drinking a whole gallon is not always efficient. But in fact, it can provide the same hydration as drinking two to three bottles of water. I'm also big on efficiency. Plus, it's packed with a little of essential vitamins, and we know about it. vitamins are good for the body. It's vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
Starting point is 00:12:37 You can customize their water amounts to your taste. Again, perfect for post-night recovery, traveling, or just having a big night out. You know what I mean? No, I'm all. So, if you want to boost your support for the channel and boost your hydration game, go to Liquidiv.com and use promo code Rejects at checkout. That's Liquidiv.com promo code rejects. And remember, liquid IV. It's not a real IV. I sure feels like it. So stay hydrated, stay healthy, and let's keep crushing those health and fitness goals together during the year 2024.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Thrilled to be partnering with a brand I've been using for nearly two years now, and that's Harry's Razors. I'm generally more drawn to anything that goes against the norm, and Harry's does just that in the grooming world. They saw the high prices in the industry and decided to blaze their own trail with quality and affordability. I keep a beer, but whenever you see these cheeks in the neck clean, and that's the work of Harry's right there.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Keeps my wife happy, and Harry's makes it effortless. They're precision blades that cut smoothly with less drag, making every shave satisfying. And yes, it's versatile for other areas. too, you know what I mean? So as a Harry's devotee, I can vouch for their value. You can experience unparalleled comfort and quality in your grooming routine where exceptional craftsmanship meets affordability, making a smart choice for a top-not shave without breaking the bank. Their kits and value packs for shaving are unbeatable. But Harries is not just about shaving. Again,
Starting point is 00:13:50 they offer top quality, thoughtfully designed grooming products, including shampoo, conditioner, and amazing body wash without the premium price. Quality affordability. That's a thesis of this. Now, these I actually pulled right from my own bathroom. I regularly use their five-blade razor with a nice weighted handle and their foaming shave gel man this that ball it is a game changer i just like the feel of it now i have to commit to keeping this in my hand the whole time because i'm not going to go to the bathroom in the middle of shooting this the handles they feel perfectly balanced and the razor's sleek design is a classy addition to my bathroom and the quality of the shave unparalleled got to reiterate keep part of my weekly grooming ritual because their
Starting point is 00:14:26 entire range of products fits seamlessly into my routine stepheno reshoots here their german engineer blades are durable and refill plans are economical rarely use the word economical but i'm using it now plus their commitment to high customer satisfaction and no risk trial makes harry's a no-brainer this joe really does feel good let me say once more choosing harries means quality and affordability by grabbing your thirteen dollar trial set for just three dollars at harries dot com slash rejects you're not only getting a great deal but you're also supporting this channel that's harries dot com slash rejects for your three dollars trial set stay sharp and embrace the extraordinary with harries till next time reject nation they'll next step it's pretty far-fetched it is it is pretty far because the only thing that's
Starting point is 00:15:08 really um the biggest suspension of this belief is is is um the only thing is really outlandish here is the is the gore like the gores is very outlandish right other than that the movie has a pretty grounded take it still feels like you're in the real world for the most part other than like the heightened personalities of of the the aura that the film omits i am i am cute curious if they had, how would you have felt if at the end the boyfriend had been his second in command? He would have, we would have needed an explanation. I think it would have made sense if the boyfriend, the ex-boyfriend who ran away for a year. Him or the other one? I think the other one while Bobby or the other one. Tall white boy. Yeah. Brian? I think so. I mean, even though he comes
Starting point is 00:16:01 across more villainous, it makes more sense that it's the guy who ran away for a year. And the movie obviously wants to make you think that maybe it's him. And so I think I actually think it would have made it some of it make a little more more sense. But I like the
Starting point is 00:16:19 I just like being right. Because why doesn't Patrick Dempsey when our lead girl says he went inside? Why isn't Patrick Dempsey just shoot her first? Wait, what do you have? The scene where she comes up and finds Patrick Dempsey on the ground. She finds Patrick Dempsey on the ground. What scene is this?
Starting point is 00:16:38 In the end of the movie, Patrick Dempsey's on the ground. Yeah. We think he's passed out. Bobby's inside. Yeah. You don't remember the scene? Yeah, he shoots Patrick Dempsey. Wait, I've totally...
Starting point is 00:16:54 My brain cells have slowly been going downhill for the course of us watching this movie. I could feel my brain just holding on. She escapes, right? She escapes. She runs. She finds Patrick Dempsey on the ground. She finds him on the ground?
Starting point is 00:17:11 Patrick Dempsey, yes. When did she find him on the ground? What? Outside of the building. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Bobby's inside. Oh, yeah. What a weird scene?
Starting point is 00:17:22 I'm just thinking, like, why wouldn't he? He's like, oh, where to go? And she's like, he's inside, and he goes right after him. You would think he would just kill her first. he was trying to kill her anyway the whole time oh no no he said he no he made it very specific he wanted her to see the ex-boyfriend so that way she could pin it she could say it was him and pin it on him saying he was to kill her oh right so he didn't want to kill her ever he always needed her help yeah i think pin it on him at the yeah but the again so he didn't want her dead yeah you're right
Starting point is 00:17:55 you're right you're right that's exactly what happened the distance and all that and like it's Extremely elaborate. And I know you're... But okay, if she wanted to pin it on him, then the Thanksgiving dinner, how is her being there going to help pin it on him? To make it... I don't know if he was actually going to kill her.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Maybe he was going to just keep her alive as the one person. Yeah. And kill everybody else and then have her pin it on Bobby. Yeah, maybe. I'm not sure. That's not I mean, it's a little far-fetch, but whatever. the thing you show up for is like it's a fun slasher thanksgiving themed movie yeah and i like how they bring up um elements of what really went they don't really like dive into it that much
Starting point is 00:18:42 that's how i spent my thanksgiving last year was just watching all the real life stories like full on like three hour documentary all about it like wow it's a crazy not what we celebrate at all i don't feel right celebrating this holiday anymore um but uh they like how they at least like It's nice to see a movie address it. Address the lawn, but no accent. Indigenous people, yeah, for sure. I think that Eli Roth has such a good grip on his films. Like, it's like I felt that he was in control this whole time,
Starting point is 00:19:13 and the cinematography looked great. The music, the performances I thought were really solid, despite some of the accents. But that happens in every single movie with Boston accents, including my girl Blake lively. it just happens it happens this is a tough one for sure um but i just thought that he like we felt in safe hands and that's why i feel like at the end i have questions because i'm like okay i know he thought about these things so what make these things make sense yeah that's why i kind of feel
Starting point is 00:19:43 like i like going back it's like oh yeah yeah those weren't him you know i have not seen the movie that put him on the map which was cabin fever the movie that really skyrocketed him was hostile um but whenever i have seen this movies i tend to get a little bit of a headache this is undoubtedly my favorite film that's great this is undoubtedly i'm like oh easily my favorite eli roth film like i really enjoyed this a lot the opening scene was crazy and and as much as it's like about thanksgiving it it is a weird movie in the sense that you could watch this almost like any time of the year like it doesn't have to be just around the holidays it could be Halloween you mean like that's like the sweet spot
Starting point is 00:20:24 right like the Halloween Thanksgiving does a sweet spot to watch it but it doesn't feel like it still manages to have a bit of like a holiday spirit. We hear the Christmas music kind of. Yeah, it's kind of, it's smart, but it doesn't like lean in like violent. You saw Violinite at with John, right? The Christmas. And that's very much like, this is one you watch at Christmas. Whereas this one, I think, is perfect like at Halloween time or even a little, like just fall.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Once you hit fall, there's like a good movie to watch. I want to know where this was shot. I think it was it must have been boss he's from Boston no the high school I want to know what's high school
Starting point is 00:21:02 yeah he's from noon yeah I know you're obsessed for him maybe he'll watch this and then you can go on a date with him
Starting point is 00:21:08 Greg don't you understand me at all you would not go on a date with Eli Roth put me in your movies I don't care about
Starting point is 00:21:17 dating anybody Eli Roth but all I care about is my career have you not worked with me for long enough but if you I'm not looking for a date
Starting point is 00:21:25 I'm looking for a job That's a crazy thing to assume. Hire me. Cast me. Wouldn't you just Google what? There's facts. That would be fun to read. Eli Ross said the cat in the movie was such a good actor and performed on cue that he called him Leonard DeCat.
Starting point is 00:21:46 That's funny. That's very funny. Oh, the cat was in Pet Cemetery. The same cat from Pet Cemetery. Ah, yes, I was right about the... Gina Gershawne, Texas. at him and asked when are you putting me in a horror movie right when he was casting this and he said actually jean i've got the part for you right now that makes sense oh that's really
Starting point is 00:22:04 cool you're not looking at the one thing i ask so i'm gonna just look it up roxy i'm looking it up no you're not lizzie is from hanover massachusetts that's cool who's lizzie i don't know i don't i don't i can't find this thing you're saying I thought I feel like it would be a fun factor. What? What do you mean to be a fun factor? I thought, I feel like it would be a fun. Oh, Eli Roth.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Waterdown District High School in Ontario. Where's that? Ontario. Yeah. Port City, in particular, Hamilton, Ontario makes a significant appearance in the slasher film. A Port City on the western edge of Lake Ontario, Hamilton. Ontario is home to Watertown District High School, a location that figures. prominently into
Starting point is 00:22:58 Thanksgiving and likely Thanksgiving too. Yeah. Yo. Yeah. Addison Ray DMD. Lieb, Roth to get a part in the movie. That makes sense. All I got to do is hit him up in his DMs, man. So it was shot in Canada. That makes more sense.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Yeah. Because I kept telling you it doesn't feel like Plymouth at all. Canadian stands in for small town Massachusetts. Yeah, which is totally fine. most people are not from Blymouth. Concord, Massachusetts appears in Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. Historic Streets of Concord in Andover.
Starting point is 00:23:33 It's pretty close to where him and I are from. Yeah. I had a blast of this movie. It was very violent. It delivered on the violence. Holy shit. It kind of just kept growing. Maybe like five minutes too long. About 10 minutes long? The length was perfect for me. I really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I really made me hungry. I don't know why. with you you know she wasn't getting like salted and basest you weren't like I'm a little hungry the pepper really got me right you're like I know you're like toasted lady but I'm the move for some something sweeter you know for some salt it was really the blood wine that did it for me I was like okay I'll take a sip of that has something went really wrong me started carving the leg I was like oh no baby it kind of does look like I prefer dark me but I guess
Starting point is 00:24:25 thank you guys that's what we're thankful for is you guys for watching this video and eli roth for hiring roxy go ahead and not dating me why not dating like gregg you would be in more movies with him i don't understand your your why do you want to pimp me out to eli ross why can't i just be in his movies uh because how cool of a matchmaker would i be if i could that would be cool matchmaker for love and for starring in horror movies how cool would that be you're trying to be my agent or what i try to be your agent and reverence at the same time good i'm gonna get it going all right guys leave it in the comments how cute of a couple would they
Starting point is 00:25:15 look does he let roth marry a little look it up really quick Eli roth's wife something wrong with you oh not married anymore oh oh Oh, wait, I recognize that, girl. Lorenzo iso? Lorenza iso? Yeah. Well, no more with them. Wow, that's interesting.
Starting point is 00:25:38 People also search for... Oh, my God, are you ever out this to bear Jew? Yeah. It's a match made in Jewish heaven. Really, there's something wrong with you. All right, return nation, see you guys. Thank you.
