It's been a minute to have seen him get locked up. Yeah, he has been less of a menace. He's been less of a menace. He's been less than creepy, but less of a overt menace

Starting point is 00:01:54 crossing the line of legality. But yeah, I'm doing really well. We watched a pretty crazy movie right before this, so I am firmly primed and ready to get back into the Big Bang boys. Ready to come down. Ready to come down. With some comforting, yeah, Big Bang theoretical comedy. I'm good.

Starting point is 00:03:37 the bazinga we've bzinged finally how do you feel I feel a full sense of catharsis we finally got our bazinga moment and it just happened all right we did we got three in one for some reason I thought it was gonna be like he came up with a catchphrase like it was gonna be like a plot point I don't know why but we just it just they just started slipping it in yeah in the finale it's like like fetch she just started doing it

Starting point is 00:03:59 like trying to just training us to to know this is going to be his thing going forward his classic pranks yeah classic pranks oh you know it's it's interesting like the show is definitely growing on me since the first season, but I think, and again, it's been a little bit removed from when we watch Friends, but I think Friends

Starting point is 00:04:18 largely trained me to expect like a finale to feel like a finale, and these are more just like, oh, it's just like a little break. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was another episode and then we're going to take a few months old. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, these three episodes were fun, as, you know,

Starting point is 00:04:34 most of them are. They have found a good balance between making Sheldon still, you know, very particular and condescending without making him overbearing. And I feel like they have,

Starting point is 00:04:50 yeah, they've found a way to do that, which serves the story and the enjoyment of the audience, the audience being myself and John here. Yeah, I really enjoyed these three episodes.

Starting point is 00:05:05 I enjoyed seeing, seeing Stewart again. Where we start off with? We got it. We had the Vegas episode. That was fun. You know, Leslie. We cheered up Howard.

Starting point is 00:05:15 Yeah, Leslie broke up with Howard off screen. And then I always enjoy watching Penny and, and Sheldon do their, their little things. The two characters that are the most different. So the odd couple between those two always makes for something unexpected and, and hilarious. And because they're not like teasing romance, you can just. You can just get to doing interesting fun stuff with them. Exactly. Yeah, we got another soft kitty, warm kitty, which is like, yeah, need more of that in my life.

Starting point is 00:05:47 More kitties. More kitties. It was great getting to go to the comic book store. The whole poop space toilet art was fun and coupled with, you know, Leonard feeling bad about giving a, given homeboy store some bad advice. And they're slowly teasing it. It's not as, it's not as overt. and intention-filled as maybe we'd expect a will-be-won-they sort of thing to be in another series. But it makes sense for a character like Leonard and, you know, Penny going this slow route.

Starting point is 00:06:24 And, yeah, who knows? Maybe things will wrap up next season. But overall, it was a nice dismount. I was like, okay, cool. I'm not like, oh, my God, I need season fucking three in my veins. But I'm like, all right. okay we'll watch the next season and we'll see what things are like three months later

Starting point is 00:06:43 absolutely yeah we'll see what what effect this has on everything I mean yeah it makes sense that a part of me was like they're either not going to go or they are going to go and then this is where the season ends and we take a few months off and then the next episode will be them returning essentially is what I would expect but yeah yeah I would agree like this is yeah they're less invested in like the big season

Starting point is 00:07:07 there's not as much of a serial quality to like the season specifically. So like the notable thing about this finale is like, who's the one where they go to the Arctic? But yeah, like especially with the Leonard and Penny stuff. It is interesting to watch because I wonder what that's going to turn into or how that will be further fleshed out and how that will grow over time because obviously we had the initial start of that. And part of me is like, well, we're doing season one.

Starting point is 00:07:34 I don't know exactly how long it took. for the show to really like pop off. So I can see how like in season one you would end it the way you did and then get the idea that like, well, now we're in a position where we gotta keep this going. So maybe we can't, you know, let that rest and we kind of have to create the distance between them again

Starting point is 00:07:53 so that we can play this bigger game now that the thing is like really becoming what it will be for some time. So yeah, I am interested in it. And you know, yeah, you get this wistful aside. It means I wish you wouldn't go. And so in some ways it makes me wonder like, okay, why is Penny afraid to be a little bit more direct with Leonard? I know there's some awkward history and whatnot. But, you know, yeah, his his curiosities and the vibes he's picking up are not unfounded.

Starting point is 00:08:23 So, yeah, it is like a low-key sort of simmer on the will they won't they. You know, there's something there's something wistful. And these little threads about like, oh, yeah, you know, it was going great until we started canoodling. and then she said your name. So yeah, at the moment it's kind of undefined to me. It's like this thing sitting there and they want you to be like, what's the deal? Come on.

Starting point is 00:08:45 They want to build up that thing that makes you want to see them get together. I'm just curious right now as to like what will be revealed to be the meat on that bone. Exactly. Yeah. As we go along because so far, you know, their potential coupling has, you know,

Starting point is 00:09:00 been a little all over the place and at the moment is mostly Platonic friend stuff. But now we still have these, like, no, there are little vibes and things. And part of me is like, is it going to be like this for however long until we need to conclude it and get them together or not? Or, yeah, are we going to get to a certain point, you know, in the progression before we get super deep into the show where this is paid off or, you know, kind of tied up in some fashion? So, yeah, it's like, yeah, for the way this show presents itself, you know, it feels like the right kind of scale. Yeah, and it's not interesting because there's not a lot of status quo changes that would impact the narrative. With the exception of the line where like, aren't you dating Leslie in the train episode from the last block?

Starting point is 00:09:49 Yeah. I feel like that's an episode you can pretty much place anywhere. And it's not really, you know, has a, like you could be like, what season is this from? And you, I don't know. Whereas I feel like in friends, you could put on an episode. They're like, oh, okay, these people are dating. Monica's working here. generally having this thing going on.

Starting point is 00:10:06 So they kind of feel like kind of ever floating in like a unchanged sort of status quo. I would agree. Yeah. And yeah. Like I'm sure I believe that again, this cast, the ensemble grows. So like maybe that will be part of what makes things distinct. But yeah, it's like if I was catching a season one versus season two episode minus maybe some flow things, it would be harder to be like, oh, it's definitely this era. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:10:34 You know, because, yeah, like, the gang has, like, a template of uniforms. Their hair all pretty much stays the same, or so far it's all stayed the same. Like, I feel like, too, being a more recent sitcom, this might be, not under pressure, but just, like, the thing to do might be to keep them sort of frozen in time and not do much changing, whereas, like, a friend's is sort of like every season, new haircuts, new style. And some shows still do that, but, you know, yeah, this, this, this. This seems like it's kind of set up its status quo, so to speak. And yeah, we have like mostly serial details about who the characters are

Starting point is 00:11:14 and then a bunch of episodic moments. And then, yeah, these little serial things about like, Penny seems to care. She seemed to care about Leonard in a deeper way. Yeah. And that's what I'm certain of. And she didn't get the other guys, freaking sweaters or blankets with sleeves. No.

Starting point is 00:11:33 And she didn't hug them for five. mississippi's no that's special that's like hey territories right there that was a long hug and i'm like dang penny like you're getting shy or you know are you just feeling awkward because it's already you know been a little awkward the one time yeah i'm like why he given this man mixed signals

Starting point is 00:11:49 you're just like downplaying it like no you're tripping i was like but you know that you don't feel that he literally came to your door and woke you up because he wanted to verify and now you're lying to his face yeah he took that took a lot of chutzpah on his part to go over there and be like hey just directly asking you, what is this about? Exactly. What are you feeling?

Starting point is 00:12:08 What are you feeling right now? What's going on, girl? What's going? Talk to me, Penny. Penny. Penny. Penny. But yeah, this is a very, this is a fun end to the season.

Starting point is 00:12:18 I'm looking forward to moving on to the next season. I hope the astronauts got, you know, cleaned off. Yeah. From their spacewalk. I hope they got all the shit out of the cabin there. And, yeah, we got bazin good, man. We got Bazimid. Have you ever been in a cheesecake factory freezer?

Starting point is 00:12:38 You know, not yet. But the life is still young. Life is young. They had them Teremisu cheesecakes, at least in the stack. I've been in an El Dorito freezer and I've been in an island's freezer, but not quite a cheesecake factory, but I will cross it off my list one day. Hank? I'll call on you. I've never been in that particular store's freezer.

Starting point is 00:13:00 I've been in a big walk-in freezer before. Okay. And I've worked in several refrigerator rooms at haunted house. Okay, so you're familiar with the genre. Doing the bouncy shiver. All right, let's jump into some questions. From our lovely super royal sexy rejects. Muffin Man Dan taking us for a ride.

The North Pole trip is one of my favorites if you had to assemble a team. of four rejects including yourself to go to the North Pole for three months who would you pick that's hard man that's a tough boy Greg and John oh yeah the four of us okay that's so hard I love the rest of you I was like I feel like coin Greg would know what to do and I feel like you would also be very good especially just one just you know just vibes and and two I feel like you know with whatever tech stuff has going on I feel like you would know just like you just download the knowledge of what to do in that scenario And I feel like the four of us would just yeah we'd we'd fuck it out we'd make it work

Starting point is 00:14:11 Yeah I would agree with that if I had to go with an alternate lineup I'm taking or I'll take you all right because got big bang boys go stick together big bang boys Maybe LJ okay Take LJ because you know he's very willing you know and he's like always like rare and to learn and help but he's also, you know, good vibes, little dancing and stuff like that. He'll keep things fun. And then maybe Tara, you know,

Starting point is 00:14:41 because I feel like Tara would keep things interesting and she would be able to like refurbish all of our stuff and make it colorful. So we'd have like the coolest, most fun, stimulating environment to be in. I could definitely see that. I feel like she would just like deal with the cold, you know, even if she didn't like it.

Starting point is 00:14:59 I feel like she would deal with it. the cold. So maybe that's a, maybe that's another quadreforce we could take along with us. Starting point is 00:18:59 I'm curious. So, like you're saying, Stephen Engel created this catchphrase. I want to know if this is like something that this writer. actually says to people as his own catchphrase or if this was like him trying to pitch it yeah like like are these childish franks uh pranks involving hollowed out holode out maybe hauled out of frank and did a prank with a hollow frank uh but yeah was was he saying the gotcha phrase and doing these pranks like on set pulling childish pranks or was this like just this is what he did in his life and the bazinga is just like his catchphrase that's like stuck around and then the dishinga just like his catchphrase that's like stuck around

Starting point is 00:19:36 and then decided to put into the show. My head canon is that he couldn't stop pranking and it became a problem. And he just like he like compulsively said like bozinka. Yeah. Because he couldn't stop pranking. And in order to cure the compulsive condition of, you know, and not being able to stop pranking, he put it, he like exorcised it into the show,

Starting point is 00:19:57 but used Sheldon as a vessel. Yes. To contain this so that his own life could stop being marred by this constant need for pranking. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he got his, not his rocks off, that's not the term I'm looking for. He got his, his, his, his binging and he got his pranking off via Sheldon to maintain the balance of his, his life and his marriage and his mortgage and all the other things, because his life is going to fall apart bad if it didn't get transferred off to Sheldon. So thank you, Sheldon for restoring Sir Stephen England's life. Heck yeah, let's do it.

Starting point is 00:20:32 And Shia Silberstein, here we go. J&A, hey yourself, appreciate you chiming in. Would you have gone to the North Pole if you had the choice, especially with someone like Sheldon? And do you think the ending was built up enough through two seasons for Penny to have those feelings? When I go to the North Pole with Sheldon? No.

Starting point is 00:20:53 Do I think that I would, was the buildup there? Sure. I'll say it was there. It was a will they, won't they? Slow burn. I wish somebody said how they were feeling. so yeah hell no and yeah

Starting point is 00:21:07 fine just for contrast hell yeah hell yeah I'm going with Sheldon to the to the north pole it'll be a challenge but it'll be a unique life experience

Starting point is 00:21:20 and and hey I think I can take it you know you know what's funny you know I've known you for a number of years John I don't think that I've known you to like disdain anybody like in that you've met at least not my experience of you

Starting point is 00:21:33 if you've just been like fuck I cannot stand this fucking guy I can hang yeah I mean I could I could deal I you know and I'm sure I could I don't know I feel like I could maybe you know find a wavelength with Sheldon do you feel like you ever felt that way about somebody I mean there are people I've disliked before but I mean like generally unless you know it takes an asshole I guess

Starting point is 00:21:54 it takes someone who's like outwardly mean I've had this but not often yeah okay it's usually a real piece of shit if John doesn't like you I guess so like Like, I don't know, yeah. Not that I like just love everybody. Of course not. Obviously, there are not great folks and I don't, you know, yeah. There's like levels to this.

Starting point is 00:22:14 There's like it's a spectrum. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's like people you're heavily fuck with. And there's people who are like, oh, you're cool. And there's people like, I don't want to see them ever. Yeah, I'm sure it's, yeah. I've had a couple of those people in life in some more extraordinary circumstances. By and large, yeah, there's nobody who I'm like, get that guy away from me.

Starting point is 00:22:34 Uh, so, you feel like you'd kick it with Sheldon. I'll, I'll, yeah, I'll take one for the team. I'll go have a life experience in the Arctic with Sheldon. What's, how, how much condescension you think you can take from him before you're just like, all right. Put them gloves on. Good question. That'll be the test, honestly. That would be the test.

Starting point is 00:22:56 That would be a few months in isolation. That will find that line. Oh, yeah. Find the line of like how much patience can we. Can we pull together? Penny and the feelings, yes and no. Like, it's one of those things that is like kind of halfway in,

Starting point is 00:23:16 halfway out for me. Like it feels somewhat perfunctory like a thing we must do. And we've planted it. It makes the most sense for it to be Leonard and Penny. And I like the general concept of that just because I think the both of them are charming and affable and appealing. it's like I can see it it's not super ingrained

Starting point is 00:23:37 it is one of those things where I am here like let's elaborate I would like to elaborate a little bit because you could easily not return to this and I would never think about Penny being attracted to Leonard again but because they occasionally bring this up it's one thing if Leonard's always stressed out

Starting point is 00:23:56 about like oh you know I like Penny and I want to you know gain her favor or whatever but like they are clearly giving her these little moments to be like, oh, thing. And those I like, I'm kind of in the middle on that. I'm like, in terms of buildup, it doesn't feel, again, like, as much of a serially thought-out plot thread. But it is something that seems like it is needing to happen, or it's like one of the most well-worn sitcom tropes, and it's like a cornerstone of sorts. And, you know, the whole geek and hot girl thing is a thing.

Starting point is 00:24:32 so like it all makes sense yeah because not gonna lie with that brief stint or Leonard was was dating that one girl and she was like acting kind of sisterly towards him sure I was like oh I like that this is a cute dynamic and direction for their the relationship to go yeah and then that I guess that ended because it didn't seem like that was ending he set one boundary and then then then that was that we're never dressed it again done with that Sarah Roo out of here I just don't want you to live with me and she's gone yeah we're moving a little fast well we're not moving anymore exactly at all train is stopping near each other permanently.

Starting point is 00:25:04 Yeah. So, you know, there could be more there. There could be less there. So I'm with it. Yeah. Let's let's get some momentum on it. I mean, granted, we still got 10 seasons left. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:25:14 So who knows? This could be a long game. Maybe they'll be together for the last six seasons of the show. Maybe they'll get married. Maybe they have kids. That's the thing. Who knows? Maybe they are the parents of young Sheldon.

Starting point is 00:25:28 Okay. I like that. It's a lot of weird. After Sheldon. Yeah. They move away. They move to New York. Or it's a weird paradox where they just become his actual parents.

Starting point is 00:25:38 I would also like that. You know, I'm down for some sci-fi weirdness. They're both his me ma'am and peepa. Actually, no, that would be his grandparents. He was, you know, but they would have to be, yeah. They're both his parents and his grandparents. They just put them in old makeup. We still tell us to them.

Starting point is 00:25:52 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we bring the Morlocks back from the Time Machine episode just because. The Morlocks. We love the Morlocks. All right. Yeah, buddy. He got one last question. Do you guys think that the penny Leonard feelings have been built up well?

Starting point is 00:26:45 yeah for real I'm like I guess we had to see more of him but I like that he's in the comic books and he's an artist so I'm like maybe some combination of Stuart and Leonard sure like if we had to pick people not a Cripke no or hell no not a Wesley. Nah. Not a show then.

Starting point is 00:27:06 It's kind of like Leonard's girlfriend, I guess, because she was just like chipper. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, of the main ensemble. I mean, not a, not a, not a, not a, not a, not a Cripke. I mean, yeah. Or what a Raj. Are you a Raj?

Starting point is 00:27:19 Not Raj. Well, I mean, I don't know. Like, not that, no, not to that extreme degree. And also when Raj, I'm more of just like a cheery, love, lovey, drunk person. whereas Raj like when he gets drunk he becomes so condescending and so full of himself like the kind of guy who absolutely like is flying too close to the sun and needs to be recalibrated it's just so funny how like much an asshole he is when he's drunk versus how just like shy and like like meeky is yeah exactly he becomes a menace when he's drunk

Starting point is 00:27:58 he thinks he's big dog he's drunk so yeah I guess Puppy. Leonard or Penny. I don't know. Lenny. Well, yeah, call me Lenny. Yep. Yeah. Or maybe Howard's mom.

Starting point is 00:28:09 J.C. Lenny. J.C. Lenny. Well, gang, which of the characters are you most like from the main ensemble or the extended ensemble or the ensemble we haven't met yet? Yes.
