Starting point is 00:02:31 This is a really funny block Yeah like the writing was pretty tight on this block The cast has certainly like reached I feel like a cruising altitude of comfort with one another And just yeah like comedic rhythm Yeah for the most part Howard isn't as creepy as he used to be They finally found that yeah
Starting point is 00:02:49 That niche spot for Sheldon for him to be hilarious Yeah all it was good man I had thoroughly enjoyed all of these episodes They all had their standout moment of hilarity and truly unhingedness and yeah you can't you can't go wrong with a ring episode uh sheldon being drunk episode a stanley episode yeah a bowling will a leiden episode willie will willie willie willie and a co-parenting episode a co-parenting episode yeah man i thought the games they came up with for this were really fun and and like you know up till now we've done a number of things
Starting point is 00:03:29 that kind of split the difference between like, okay, there are the ensemble moments, but now we're doing these two characters together or these three characters together or whatever. And this one, by and large, had a lot of just like full group dynamics. I mean, certainly in the later episodes with the breakup and everything,
Starting point is 00:03:44 you do go back to a bit more of that sort of like, okay, these two are over here and these two over here. But yeah, the whole San Lee thing. And I mean, they spin off Sheldon and Penny, but even that kind of comes back around to being one big group scenario by the time he's like, that kind of,
Starting point is 00:03:59 split the difference. And then yeah, the whole like one ring thing keeps them all kind of in the same place. And then just the freaking payoff of that. There's just so much, yeah, like fun game work across the writing of these Sheldon's speech and them all trying to like coach him through his stage fright and stuff like that. Shouts out Tom Lairer. I didn't realize that the element song was a real song. But Tom Lairer is a funny cat. And yeah, so just, you know, props to Sheldon. I'm surprised. at how poorly alcohol affects all these characters. Oh, yeah. Just immediately down the drain.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Yeah. I think Leonard and Penny are probably the most well adjusted when it comes to alcohol. Yeah, and I just felt for them. That was a real thing. The whole, like, I love you, and then they come to this point of conflict, and then Stewart Sykes Penny out, or not, Will Whedon, Sykes Penny out. Yeah, I can't remember if we've seen Drunk Howard or not. I don't feel like we've seen him super drunk, but then again,
Starting point is 00:04:54 I could be forgetting something because I don't know. The thing is, if drunk Howard is like normal Howard. then I probably wouldn't log it as emphatically. Whereas like if he gets drunk, it becomes, like they all become kind of different when they're drunk. So if Howard becomes somebody new when drunk, I'll log it more. Yeah. We haven't crossed that bridge yet. But I'm sure we will at some point.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Will Wheaton. Yeah, we got nine more seasons left. So, yeah. The only that did surprise me, though, is that Leonard and Penny broke up like in nothing. middle of the season, but towards the end of the season. That feels like a finale type of choice more conventionally. I'm like, huh, look at that. Didn't expect that.
Starting point is 00:05:38 It makes me wonder, yeah, because again, this is like an element of these shows that is like a classic trope. But it's also something that you do have to kind of kick, calculate, like, will they won't, these are hard because it's like you ride the tension for so long. And then if you get them together and people like that, then there's, you know, stuff to do there. and then you have to, you know, as your show continues and continues and continues, you know, threaten that with more dramatic stakes and whatever else. But yeah, it's like this relationship has become what it is as of this season. And then, you know, it's ostensibly done.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Although the whole Will Wheaton thing and the whole getting insider head thing, I wonder if that's kind of why the placement in the succession of episodes is the way it is. I wonder if maybe it will redux this somehow or revisit or reopen this box. somehow. Like, we're still at a point where it's like, I feel like this will have to be one of the major tropes of the show is the Leonard Penny factor. Dynamic. Yeah, the Will they won't they? Yeah, the Leonard Penny corollary, the Leonard Penny conjunction.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Yeah, hypothesis. But, you know, I appreciate when they do get a little more dramatic with that stuff. Not that they're, like, going into, like, you know, tear jerking or hard. drama yeah but like you know i i appreciate the little elements like that that are a little more tempered and no definitely i feel i feel for leonard you feel for him even though he was been a little pushy be a little pushy in the aftermath i was like nah dude this is not the way like it sucks it sucks to be like i love you and then a person to be like thanks you know that's that's hard that's weird but or you know it's weird to process um but yeah as you didn't help himself out and part of me is like man if you'd
Starting point is 00:07:27 played it cool or if you at least been a little less passive aggressive you had a little less petty about it at times less giving into those instincts you might have come out with a different outcome but stanley we got the cameo stanley we got the cameo stanley we finally for one brief moment acknowledged the marvel pantheon uh fun cameo and i like they just committed to yeah it doesn't go it's like it's it's still a win for sheldon even though they don't have stanley and dear himself like stanley's a guy with with like a very unfuncular you know public persona obviously and uh you know i i think it's fun that he decided to show up and just have like a normal guy response to that just like this is insane i'm calling the cubs yeah yeah valise hell the excelsior acquisition
Starting point is 00:08:17 the precious fragmentation the pants alternative the wheaton recurrence and the spaghetti Catalyst. Nice set of episode names. Let's hop on over to our patron questions. Get a little Italian food for ourselves. Not that everyone on the Patreon's Italian, but, you know, we're going to feast on some of your thoughts right now.
Starting point is 00:08:38 So Carebear, kicking us off. Carebird. Hi, J&A. Hello to you. UCLA physics professor David Salzberg served as technical director for all 12 seasons of the Big Bang Theory. Beyond reviewing each week's script, Salzberg personally wrote accurate formulas on
Starting point is 00:08:54 whiteboards and even occasionally let his own research stand in for the character's work. Wow. Question. Do you like when a show goes above and beyond with accuracy and technical jargon, even if only a small percent of the audience could truly appreciate it? I mean, sure. I think it's pretty cool to know that what these guys are actually saying is factually accurate.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I feel like rarely do I actually look it up to verify that's true. But I'm like, I'd take their word for it. That's a React series waiting to happen. scientist, physicist, reacts to double checks, all the Big Bang Theory science moments. If it hasn't already. Yeah, that's got to be a potential thing.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Because, yeah, if doctors do it, and lawyers do it, there has to be something for scientists as well. Yeah, but yeah, I think it's pretty cool. And yeah, maybe you take a little nugget or two with you after your viewing experience. Agree? Because, yeah, we've seen, yeah,
Starting point is 00:09:50 we're 40 to 50 episodes of this, and I know that there's definitely been a number of little nuggets dropped along the way. And I think that's, yeah, good on them. Good on Chuck for getting it right. Yeah, I love stuff like that personally. Like, I am, you know, I'll throw out, partly as just whatever comes to mind during these reactions. But a lot of times, like, I do get a kick out of, like, throwing down some reference that I know, probably no one or only a couple
Starting point is 00:10:20 of people who really, you know, that's part of the fun is yeah, those are actually the true Easter eggs, to be honest. You know, it's like stuff that, yeah, only a couple people might catch or notice. And in this show, a show that gets a lot of flack for being
Starting point is 00:10:37 reductive or for not you know, representing nerds and science scientists, science folk, you know, flatteringly. I do appreciate, I think, think especially that they do that. I mean, like, you know, obviously the trope of the show, part of the, the easily parodyable thing is to, you know, just like explain something simple
Starting point is 00:10:59 with the most complex scientific jargon that you can. But, yeah, I actually appreciate that in this particular context that, you know, a fair amount of the math in the background might check out and a fair amount of these theories and these science things might be actually based on real life. Like honestly, that's a level of care and effort. You do not have to put in. And again,
Starting point is 00:11:22 I think it's something that a lot of people take for granted and a lot of people, you know, write off if they're not inclined to give the show any benefit of the doubt. Yeah. But I actually,
Starting point is 00:11:30 this gives me a greater appreciation. Like, I would be having, I have been having just as much phone as I've been having without this knowledge. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:37 But this actually gives me a greater, you know, the respect, you know, they didn't have to do that. And, and yeah, I just get a,
Starting point is 00:11:44 I am not the person to pick up almost any of what they're doing in terms of this kind of work. But on principle in spirit, that's some of my favorite stuff, you know, it's like it's so fun to catch a reference or a little piece of something technical that corresponds to something real that's like in the background. And you're like, oh, shit. So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I would say the more of that in your art, the better. The more of that.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Amen. Yeah. All right, we got... I take hydration pretty serious because I work out, but lately my wife might actually be taking it more serious than me. Without getting into all her personal business, she's been in a situation where her doctors
Starting point is 00:12:26 have really emphasized staying on top of her fluids, so I'm constantly filling up her giant water jug, and electrolytes are a big part of her routine too. So yeah, our house has become an element distribution center, and that's actually what I like about element
Starting point is 00:12:42 to pronounce element, not element, This isn't just gym bro stuff. Okay, if you're sweating from like a workout, spending like a ton of time in the heat, fasting, or you're somebody who really needs to stay on top of hydration, electrolytes can be a big part of that equation. I'll tell you what. But there are like a million electrolyte products now, so why element? Well, one of these sticks gives you 1,000 milligrams of sodium, 200 milligrams of potassium,
Starting point is 00:13:07 and 60 milligrams of magnesium. And there's zero sugar and no artificial colors. And that's what wins this guy over. So why now I'm reaching for electrolytes, I want the electrolytes to actually be the point. You can go to drinkelement.com slash rejects. And with any purchase, you'll get a free eight-count sample pack of elements. Most popular drink-mixed flavors. Try them.
Starting point is 00:13:29 Find your favorite. And if you're not satisfied, they'll take care of you. Take a little box. Seriously, they're great. And which will... Ooh, that's a tough one. Pineapple. Pineapple's my jam.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Kara Delavine Zorel. Hell, yeah. Oh, just Kara. Been with you guys through the entire Friends rewatch and will continue to be here for the Big Bang boys. That's what I'm talking about. Honestly, you guys make my week better when you drop these reactions. Oh, thanks, Kara. You make our week better when you ask us these questions.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Yes, but you don't have a question. Yes. Do you guys like the trope of the on again, off again, relationship between Leonard and Penny, or do you think the writer should establish their relationship and just have them deal with normal problems, that come up without totally ending it. It all depends on how they earn this choice. I feel like you could do either one
Starting point is 00:14:27 and either one presents you opportunities and either one presents you over 12 seasons just the hazard of falling into repetition and or banality or whatever. But I mean, yeah, I guess on again, off again, it's weird. It's, I feel like I would have a different answer. Maybe if we were watching in real time and we were just on season three and we didn't know there were 12 seasons.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I'm fine with On Again off again. I think at the end of it all, you want them when the story ends to be on in debt, you know, for the end. But yeah, either or really. I mean, I feel like we've done some stuff with Penny and Leonard as a couple and now we can do some stuff with them not as a couple. And then if there's a time to get them back together again, we can visit some new. territory with that. So, you know, jury's a little out. I'm fine with the trope. It's not a trope I love or don't like particularly. Yeah. Like, not indifferent, but just like, yeah, it's a case by case basis. Yeah. I feel like for this one, for this breakup in particular,
Starting point is 00:15:32 because I don't know how many more times we're going to do this over the course of the next nine years. But for this instance, specifically, it tracks, at least on Leonard's part, because the whole reason they got together was because she was sad that he was leaving and then got back together and said oh my god I've been waiting for you for all this time like I finally accept that I feel this way about you and like you know they got together but Leonard with his mommy
Starting point is 00:15:57 issues and not really getting the affection or approval or validation that he wants for him to not be told I love you back was probably hitting out a deep wound so he was safety seeking and trying to get Penny to say it back
Starting point is 00:16:13 But the way he came out with his anxiety was definitely not the approach. It was a little overwhelming. I could definitely see someone in Penny's position being like, you know, what's better that I just end this rather than continue to hurt you, especially with someone like a Will Whedon, that evil Will Wheaton in our ear. Fucking Will Wheat. But, you know, they'll probably be back together. I don't know when or don't know how, but I hope it feels earned organic. I don't want it to just be the same cycle of them getting. to this point and Penny can't say I love you.
Starting point is 00:16:45 If they do do the off, if they do get on again and they do get off again, I hope the reasoning is different and it makes sense for where these characters are at that point in their life. Yeah, this felt like in context of how a sitcom universe operates, like a pretty spontaneous
Starting point is 00:17:03 and sort of, this is a thing I could see happening in real life, you know? Yeah, for sure. Like the way it happened and how they respond. It's a little heightened, but like I get how, the decision, especially when you're in the throes of the, you know, immediacy of like, this isn't a current ongoing conflict.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And yeah, her response just being like, this isn't fair to you. I just got to go. And then, and, you know, that moment in the bullying alley, they don't say like, we're breaking up. But, you know, that moment communicates the idea. And, and yeah, I don't know, just the circumstances surrounding that again, if you're going to do this as an on again off again, you know, for a while. It felt appropriately like, oh, yeah, this can kind of happen. And these things come out of, I don't know, sometimes you see them coming, but a lot of times they just happen. You know, they just kind of dislodge a few life rocks and then sort of reveal the, you know, anxieties underneath.
Starting point is 00:18:00 And so, yeah, you know, I thought this so far earned its choice anyway. I'm still, it's very fresh, so we're still waiting to see what becomes of it. but I'm not, I'm on board with it right now. You know, as much as I'm like bummed for them, like I'm dramatically open to what this brings down the pike.
Starting point is 00:18:20 So you know, them fighting over custody of Sheldon. Very fun. Yeah, super fun. And just the, yeah, exactly of them acting like his actual parents
Starting point is 00:18:29 kind of hearkening back to something earlier in the season when they were fighting. Yeah. Just excellent, excellent stuff. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Jay Rushden. What reject is the best driver? and who is the worst driver? That's a good question. I haven't been in the car with everybody here, so I don't know who that would apply to. I don't know. That's a good question.
Starting point is 00:18:55 It depends on who's been in the most car accidents. Good question, yeah. I don't know. I don't know anyone's driving. Yeah, same. That's a tough one. I feel like we probably got a lot of good drivers here. Yeah, we've all made it to work.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Yeah. well been here and i don't like i feel like Andrew would be a very safe driver i feel like that as well i've been an andrew's car maybe once or twice i feel like uh i've actually john maturran has driven me around he was he was pretty safe driver it's pretty good driver yeah um you know i've driven with gregg gregg's solid driver gregg is often like to to be found multitasking of a drive but you know and rarely have i ever been like whoa dude um so good driver there uh i haven't driven with roxy or two Terra. Same.
Starting point is 00:19:43 You know, and I want to give them credit. You know, it seems tacky to be like, the women are the bad drivers here. So. I've been with you. You're a fun driver. I like driving. I feel like I'm a decent driver. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Driving kind of calms me down in ways. He's a good man. It's a good one. I don't think I've driven you, though. You've been in my car, but I don't think I've driven you. No, you haven't driven me. Are you a good driver? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I'd say so. Get my car to find out. All right. Well, I don't know who's the worst driver. The worst driver. Who doesn't drive here? I was about to say, who doesn't have a car? Nobody doesn't drive.
Starting point is 00:20:24 My page, probably a good driver because Paige is a mom. Has to be a good driver. I know that there's one person here who's had a lot of car issues, but I don't think that's their fault. Okay. You know what I'm talking about? Who's that? Terra. Tara.
Starting point is 00:20:45 I guess, I mean, I don't know. See, part of me is like Tara, I don't think, I'm trying to think of like how to qualify this because Tara I don't think would be the safest driver. But I feel like Tara has that like hot rod kind of like energy. She likes cars. Let's go fast. She's a gearhead a little bit. So even though I don't know if she would be the necessarily like chillest or safest driver, I don't think she would be a bad or the worst driver. I feel like she would actually be, you know, pretty.
Starting point is 00:21:15 competent behind the wheel, you know. I know, I just wanted to say it like that because I thought it was funny if we'd be whispering a ear, but still under the mic. Yeah, I liked a bit. Thank you. I liked the bit. I just, I had to yes and. Of course.
Starting point is 00:21:27 You know, maybe it's, maybe it's Michael Tesla because he's not here right now. He's across the country. Michael Tesla. So he's the worst driver in California because he's literally not here to drive in the state. Although maybe that's better. Maybe that's the best because then he's not here to clog up the roads. He's not here to get, you know, traffic going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Because usually it's Michael. This is just responsible for all that Just kidding All the time Clogging up the studio What was driving Hitting every car Going in and out
Starting point is 00:21:55 No I'm just kidding I love Michael Tesla I'll take the fall Slander Aaron is the best driver I am the worst driver Okay we did it We found our way Ultimately to the end
Starting point is 00:22:05 I want to be the worst driver All right you're the worst driver I'm the worst driver I'm the best driver John is the best driver Race for Pinks He's gonna be the next guy that Vin Diesel Orker
Starting point is 00:22:15 That's right. I'm part of the Fast family now. Josh, John, Drake, and Josh. Josh, John, Drake, and Josh. That's the new spout. Now, John is going to be in Fast 11, confirmed here. Then Diesel hired him himself. Yeah, he's like, if I'm directed this movie, someone's going to have to step in and fill my shoes for the family.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Even though I'll also be in the movie. There's only one question. I don't know Vin D. ask you this john why do you feel about corona oh it's i it's good i like it's fine i like a corona i'll have a corona it's not like my the first beer i reached for but if i'm having a you don't love corona john i like corona yeah i like corona lie if there are multiple choices and one of them's corona i might be compelled based on what other choices are there especially if there's a bunch of ipas around and then a corona i'll take to corona hands down if you're not drinking corona john john
Starting point is 00:23:14 At the family table. Family, at the family table, there is no, what other liquids could possibly exist. There are no other beers. Just corona and lime. There are, there's beer, there are beers, and then there's corona. Exactly. Yeah. The official drink of the Fast family.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Absolutely. I acknowledge no other liquids in any capacity. As it should be. Yeah. Except motor oil, I guess, too. And gasoline. These are the only other acceptable liquids in the presence of the Fast family. And Nause.
Starting point is 00:23:43 And Brake flu. Break fluid. And break fluid. I think NOS is like a gas. I'm not sure, though. I could be wrong, honestly. Well, that's the little corona is a white for fluid too. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:51 The only drinkable liquid. I mean, we could replace some of those things. You probably put beer in your wiper fluid. Okay. So we could put Corona in there. Okay. Corona. I can put some beer on my wrapper fluid.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Not Corona. Maybe the break fluid. You know. Your coolant. You can't. If Corona is cool enough, you can replace the cool one with Corona for a brief amount of time probably i don't know if i want to drink that i don't know if i want to do that to a car i don't know if i want to endanger anyone's lives probably blow up if you try to do that possible
Starting point is 00:24:23 probably most likely but uh you know put guys put car on your gas tank see what happens yeah we need a uh report back don't do that for the love of god we are not medical experts this is not actual car advice do not do that don't blow yourself up today uh uh you Yeah, I think we've enlightened the people. I think we have. I think we've had a big banging theoretical day here at the Reject Nation. Guys, what did you think of these episodes? We will catch you next week for the next batch for the last handful for season three.
Starting point is 00:25:00 And then we'll be on to season four. So hopefully Penny and Leonard can work it out. And hopefully the rest of the boys just keep on banging. Bang, bang. And we'll get Wheaton someday. Stan Lee, love to see it. To me, my semen. Peace.
Starting point is 00:25:22 Adios.
