All right, should we go to this cabin?
Yeah.
You think we should go to the one in the woods?
I'm ready.
Or should we go to the one on the beach?
In the forest.
Cabin in the beach.
Let's go to the woods.
Cabin of the woods, baby.
Here we go.
Okay, so we just watched Cabin in the Woods.
And if you guys liked watching with us, don't forget to like, comment.
I read all things you guys have to say.
So be kind in there.
Pick up your shirt, rejectnation shop.com.
If you're on Apple, Spotify, where you are, five stars, thumbs up.
Make sure you show us that love.
Dude, my dude.
Yeah, man.
It's different than what we've been watching.
It was a nice break and pace for us.
Totally.
Not like a big franchise movie, but just borrowing from, especially like I feel
like if we had watched this movie one year ago,
we wouldn't have understood as many of the references.
Absolutely, I agree with you on that.
So it was really cool now that we are the scream queens of the channel
to be able to be here and see like, oh, that kind of is like evil dead.
That kind of, you know, like just different things.
We know the tropes now.
Yeah, yeah, or even purge, like the different stuff.
There was some really cool things that just I'm way more appreciated.
Me too.
Yeah.
I love this.
freaking film man I had so much fun I am like yeah 10 out of 10 100% I loved it
I get why it has a 92 on her on tomatoes or whatever I had it's like it's so good like how could
you really find qualms with this right it did have some humor in it but the scares were really
scary they did great job but the characters our main core five are really interesting
agreed very different from one another um attractive people
interesting premise, you know, like, yeah, just, it was cool.
It was very cool, especially like being able to pump in fairmoans, making them the certain
characters highlight more of what they needed, like they needed a whore, they needed an athlete,
they needed a virgin, like that's such a wild and very smart idea.
What is the, it felt like hunger games, what you're saying?
Totally.
To be able to control the environment, that's exactly.
It's like a mix of Hunger Games.
You said Truman Show, a little bit of that.
Yeah, and I just thought the writing was really, really good.
I mean, I'm still hooked on the line that's like time to give someone else a chance.
I didn't expect that.
I was expecting what you said, where it's like I thought maybe the fool part would start to fill up.
The Scorni went down there.
And then they flipped that, said that line.
I was like, this movie's so smart.
It was like a Romeo and Juliet ending in a way.
Yes, that happened many times throughout the movie.
where I was like, this is what I think is going to happen.
And it was not what I thought was going to happen.
Agreed.
It was better than what I had thought was going to happen.
Exactly. Especially when the, the camper goes into the water crashes with her in it.
What a great visual, but also didn't expect that.
I mean, this movie's pacing, I didn't look at the time once.
No.
I was like, wow, that movie flew by for me.
I loved it all.
That, to me, is what good pacing.
and tone and knowing like what the F you're you're wanting to deliver to the audience that it just
it flies right by you can only pick one who's your favorite character
I really love some Bradley Whitford I love him so much he was your favorite character
in the movie no I mean he wasn't a character um I don't I guess we'd go to with the weed guy
I mean he was like I mean we got to right
And I also really, the stoner's great, but I also, I love what we did with Jesse Williams' character.
Like that, from that moment where he decides to tell her, I can see you, to when he's like trying to keep her safe.
You know, I love their chemistry, but yes, it is the stoner for me for sure.
I thought that that was so cool.
Because usually the tropes in these movies, stoner's always the dumb one, can't solve the day.
But, like, he knew.
He knew.
He knew immediately.
And I thought that was really, really.
really well done and cool.
But I honestly like every single character.
And I like watching their turn.
Like you knew immediately when we keep talking about the hair dye that that was going
to be relevant for something.
Yeah.
But she was a really cool character.
This is probably the earliest Chris thing, right?
Like.
I think so.
I think that this movie probably really up to their trajectory to become stars for all of them.
But some of them I haven't seen since.
So that's strange to me.
Yeah.
It's been a minute, but I think the red-headed girl is still, I don't know, but the blood, excuse me, is still working.
And then obviously Chris, and I think the weak guy, he's been in and out of, he's been in and out of stuff.
So after this, he got Snow White and the Huntsman in 2012.
Oh, before this Star Trek.
Chris?
Yes.
Before this was Star Trek.
So, okay, let's see.
The earliest thing from Chris.
Oh, okay, so he did a ton of TV movie stuff
And then he got Star Trek
Where he played George Kirk in 2009
And then he was in a movie called Perfect Getaway
A movie called Cash
And then, oh, in 2011 Thor came out right before this
Holy Junk
He did Thor and then did this
I bet he did this and then did Thor
Before I would have to guess
Still, that's great
That is great
What a great year.
2011, Thor came out right before.
Imagine seeing him as Thor and then going to see this.
That would be crazy.
Let's look at what a couple of the...
We're good?
They were good.
I don't know what it's doing.
Anna Hutchinson, who is the one who played the blonde girl, the horny blonde girl.
She's been in Robert the Bruce Encounter, Vengeance, a Love Story.
I haven't seen any of these things.
41 different credits.
It seems like she's still constantly working, but I, yeah, I have not seen her.
Yeah, I don't know.
The other girl who is the redhead, Kristen Connolly, she was in, again, things that I don't know, or the happening, but that was before this.
She was in an episode of accused, two episodes of FBI International, a bunch of TV stuff, five episodes of evil.
I don't know.
Okay, so a lot of television.
stuff. And then we know
Jesse Williams because I'm in love with him.
Yep.
Fron Kranz,
who is the stoner. Okay.
Yeah. He has been in
I recognize his name.
He's been, he was in
16 episodes of a show called Julia,
18 episodes of Journey Quest,
an episode of Party Down,
two episodes of Homecoming.
So again, also a lot
of television stuff. Yeah.

they themselves gave me a very positive testimony about how it helped get them out of a bind once that
they were in and i can say that you know i don't want to actually show my but i have the app just
there's evidence because one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing that's
something that i think is really important it's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who

that fits you and your money goals then automatically invest the money for so it takes a lot of this
stressful decision-making fatigue out of the process i just love how i can let it do its thing
and then i can just check it with my half like a month later a couple months later see how they're
awesome dollar round up or whatever my money investments i've gone into literally it's just awesome to see
You grow. Plus, now you can open an Acorns later IRA and get up to a 3% match on new contributions.

Thank you again.
I thought they were all really great.
Drew Goddard is who directed this, who has done a lot of different stuff.
Nothing like this.
He directed Bad Times at El Royale, which I loved.
Oh, yeah.
That's a great film.
That was in 2018.
He directed a few episodes of The Good Place.
Oh.
And actually, those are the only things.
He is a writer.
He created the series High Potential, which is on right now.
He developed Daredevil and 39 episodes of that.
The Defenders.
A lot of Marvel stuff.
World War Z.
He wrote the screenplay for nine episodes of Lost.
Wow.
Lost is great.
He wrote 22 episodes of Angel, 22 episodes of Buffy.
Oh, my God.
I bet.
And now I have to watch High Potential.
If he wrote that, a lot of those credits, I think are really, it's great writing.
And I am hearing really good things who wrote this, though, was Joss Whedon with Drew Goddard.
We obviously know who he is.
Yeah.
Richard Jenkins is the name of the guy who's in Fricking Everything, who was stepbrothers was the movie that I was thinking he was the dad in.
Oh, yeah.
Brian White, who is the guy who I thought was going to save the day, who didn't save the day.
I know him from Ray Donovan.
Okay, so a lot of working actors.
A lot of working actors, which is why they were all good.
Like, all so great.
I agree.
Not one of them stood out like a sore thumb.
They all did their jobs.
Really, really good job.
You want to hear a little bit of trivia?
Let's do it.
This movie must be very loved because usually when you go to trivia on IMDB,
it has like a couple hundred likes per trivia effect.
Yeah.
These have thousands.
Wow.
Let's see what they had to say.
Cool.
The thermal coffee mug bong was a fully functional.
mug and bong as portrayed in the film the prototype cost five thousand dollars to make oh my god i wonder
if it's in like a museum who owns that now who owns it during the no wonder that has over a thousand
likes totally during the lake scene the only student not to jump into the lake is marty who remains
fully clothed on the dock this is partially due to fran kron's noticeably being in as good if not
better shape than the other male students.
In the commentary for the film,
the writer's joke that he was ripped like
muscular Jesus and asserted that
if Marty were shown being that fit,
it would ruin the character.
This is also why Marty wears baggyer clothes.
Great freaking trivia.
I bet you he was like, yeah.
That's amazing.
That's cool.
Much of Drew Goddard's inspiration for this movie
came from his own upbringing in the Los Alamos,
New Mexico, a place filled
with scientists, co-workers, all
going about their business and their living their seemingly routine in ordinary lives,
even though they were building nuclear weapons and could potentially destroy the entire world.
It talks about this in the DVD special features, interviews, and commentary.
Cool.
Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard wrote this script in how many days, Tara?
Oh.
You know what?
It's such a fun idea that once you get the hang of it and you're like, oh, all the things and they come and get them.
17 days.
Three.
Wah ha ha ha ha, bam, baby.
Cool.
Jules kisses the wolf head on the wall.
So gross.
The wolf's tongue is covered in powdered sugar to give it a dusty look to make the scene tolerable for Anna Hodgson.
Thank God.
That was disgusting.
God, that's gross.
Okay.
The failed rituals from the other countries are references to various classic movies.
and monsters.
The Kyoto ritual is a reference to Ringu, which is the ring.
Buenos Aires ritual is a reference to King Kong.
The Stockholm Reference, ritual is a reference to John Carpenter's The Thing.
Oh.
Madrid ritual appears to reference Dracula.
Oh, okay.
Cool.
During production, MGM saw the dailies of a scene where Chris Hemsworth instructs his friends.
On the basis of his performance, they signed him on for red,
Dawn. Two days later, Hemsworth
was also chosen to play the lead in Thor.
Wow. Both Red Dawn and the
Cabin in the Woods would eventually be delayed for
several years when MGM went
bankrupt and were finally released a year
after Thor. Wow. Okay. Cool.
I was going to say he doesn't look like this in Thor. No, he
does not. So, it makes sense.
Yeah. After the film
was shelved due to the studio's bankruptcy,
even director Drew Goddard and producer
Joss Whedon had little faith in it
until Lionsgate saw the finished film, loved it, and picked it up for release.
Good job, Lionsgate. I like what you do.
Yep, for sure.
And it works perfectly because Saw was one of the first Lionsgate films.
And once the first Saw came out, that's how Lionsgate became big.
And I didn't know that until I started watching Saw.
So it works imperfectly with the franchise that they've built.
So that's awesome.
A lot of these are very specific.
I'll just read you a couple.
But this one says, Kevin, one of the monsters in the whiteboard.
is a tribute to the Elijah Wood character of the same name from the movie Sin City
and the original Frank Miller graphic novel.
Oh, okay.
That's kind of cool.
Yeah.
Okay, Drew Goddard's directorial debut, his first day as director was the scene at the gas station,
which proved to be an immediate challenge since the set was unexpectedly covered in snow.
Oh, wow, really.
Wait, was that Drew Goddard, the gas station guy?
No, no, his first direction.
Oh, got it.
I was like, wait.
Okay, got it.
So there's a lot more.
Feel free to look them up, but that's pretty cool stuff.
I get why this movie is so loved.
Thank you guys for recommending that Taryn and I watch this.
I was a blast.
I love that movie.
That's going on my list of like, yo, if you haven't seen Cabin in the Woods,
great, great horror film, lots of fun.
I would rewatch it.
I think Taryn I would really love you guys to recommend more movies like this.
Yeah.
Absolutely. And I think you guys actually did if you joined our live, but we obviously, we weren't. It's not like we were writing stuff down. So maybe leave it in the comments here. We would love to see them.
Yeah. Yeah. Because I actually pitched this one to Greg because some of you guys had been saying it to us. And he said, yeah. Yeah. I love that.
So do that. Terrell. Do it. Do it. Any other words, my girl.
No, love you guys. Love this movie. Much love. And we'll see you guys next time. Later.
Thank you.
