Both of them are good.
Yeah, that's good.
Perch!
Perch!
That's the first one, because this is the first purge.
Citizens of the Reject Nation, it's time to purge.
The first time ever, because it's a prequel.
Yeah, and I didn't know that.
I just thought it was going to be like a fourth purge.
It's purge for the first purge, which isn't confusing at all.
And I am very excited for this, but I am curious how the purge came to be.
Because I thought we already knew about the purge during the first film, like how it came to be.
But now we'll see, really.
How did Tara come to be?
Now we're going deep.
I don't think anybody wants to know the answer to that question.
We shouldn't do the Birds and the Bee talk for the Purge movie?
No, I'm like that person, like the Terminator.
Like I landed in asphalt, like in a parking lot, and I came out of a, you know, a cocoon.
And then I was here, but not powerful.
like a Terminator, and then people are just like, oh, weird, you know.
So I don't know.
I really don't know.
It's okay.
Yes, and Betty and Veronica, Romy and Michelle, Tara and Roxy, in the house.
Yeah.
Thelma and Louise.
You just said Louise.
I know.
I just said, they'll get it.
My brain, y'all.
You perched Thelma.
Oh, that was good.
That was good, Rox.
I perched Thelma.

Purge!
Y'all ready for this?
That was good acting right then.
Maybe Lola too.
They make it.
Oh, yeah.
That's my audition right there.
Still Lola.
Still Lola.
Forever Lola.
All right.
See you guys on the other side.
Big Dog, the Park Hill is coming through.
I love her.
We do.
Like, she's the lady you need in your community.
What do we do now?
We fight.
Did she just say, what do we do now?
And he said, now we fight?
Yes.
We're those words.
The purge is over, though.
No, I think he means, like,
just fight against the man, the machine.
I get it.
Everybody he loved died except for them.
Yeah, and I'm wondering, like, why?
Flag is a half mass.
Why wasn't that, like, why didn't she ask him?
I love this song.
We don't be all right.
Oh, she knows it.
James DeMonico.
Okay, who, Michael Bay.
He did the other ones too, right?
Yeah.
Well, the turnout was bigger than we ever expected.
Staten Island have proven that this experiment was necessary.
I've received word from President Bracken
that we're considering a nationwide purge
as early as next year.
He's the worst.
One where every U.S. citizen can participate.
He's got such a white guy face, too.
The biggest thing, like, at the end there,
I thought there would be a conference,
some words spoken about what he did before,
purge daddy, and where he's going to focus his stuff now.
Because she's holding him up, like, she did not support.
She didn't text him back because she was like, you're a drug dealer and you're putting more bad stuff in the community than you are doing good.
And we still didn't really address that.
It was just that his whole crew died.
Except for another one guy.
Yeah.
And he did help them, right, and killing the KKK, great.
And helping the community in that way.
But we didn't really address, like, where does his moral code stand now?
because he says we fight but I'm like does that mean that you have left and realize like oh
I did bring work I did make this community worse by what I was doing and I should have found
another way so you can't always do that you don't always have that resolution right after you know
like it takes you a little bit to think about it but I hear you in movie land in movie land like a little
bit yeah something like are you going to change a little bit like because they're so close now
because he came to save her, right?
I get it, but also your entire crew is dead
and you're saying, we're going to fight
and I'm like, yeah, okay.
I just, there wasn't any of that.
There wasn't any of it in this
that anyone was like, oh, we're going to,
now I've changed my ways a little bit
to now go, go ahead.
It was just sort of we moved through the story,
but nobody was really changed by the perch
like in totality
met it like they
emotionally no one was changed is my point
like that guy he could have said like
I'm not going to do that my whole cruise dead
the brother is right
the brother was a little bit
yeah but not like a lot
you know I don't know I just
I think I'm just looking for ways in which
maybe someone would have been changed in this process
in a larger way because during the movie I didn't
well the brother was pushed
and now he's not
and then the sisters
like he's like what do you want me to say
all these things she's like yeah and he's like well I just did
and then I think he's going to be off the streets
but I'm with you like
all the other for sure for sure
even though I did enjoy parts of this
for sure for sure this is the weakest of the
of the Purge movie so far
because we don't have those
character arcs we're not like we are
not in people's corners the same kind of way
that we were a lot of the characters
didn't have that motivation
that was clear or like
that center thing at their core
and the way that purged daddy, Frank Grillo,
we're like, okay, he wants to avenge his son's death
or whatever.
Like, with purged daddy and this one,
I'm like, okay, so at your core, you like this girl.
But what's your deal?
Like, what is your sitch?
But you're still, like, down with getting prostitutes,
like, and you're still, you know, like, it's a little...
Yeah, it looked good.
The actors are good.
It sounded cool.
There were some cool shots to it.
The premise is cool.
It's interesting to go back and see the first one.
I liked knowing that Marissa Tomey's plan didn't work because it's like you don't eat your own, you know.
And so that all kind of made sense.
But even that, I wish we kind of, that's me connecting the dots.
I kind of wish that they did go more into, like, I thought with this socioeconomic class that they would all wipe each other out.
They didn't.
Why are my calculations wrong?
And the reasons the calculations are wrong is because it's, it's.
the rich that hate the poor, not the poor that hate each other.
Exactly. And like, then next year, even at the end, next year, we need to implement new systems
where this is cross-country so that they can be going after each other or whatever.
Like, they're just, you're having to fill in a lot of the blanks, and I don't even know
if that was the intention of this movie or if that's just me really trying to force it, you know?
Right. I mean, that would have, yeah, I mean, and I guess we wouldn't have necessarily need
to hear like, oh, for the next one, we
definitely need to send in like white
rich instigators to start
because in
this, they're saying lower class
is not going to kill lower class, which I assume
that would continue. Except for Skeletor.
Except for Skeletor. When you're in a
real, throwing it off. Yeah. When you're in
a real bad way and you're hopped up on
drugs, you're ready to kill some people. Totally.
But he was ready before the perch, right?
He already had cut our
guy, the brother.
There was a lot of
things that were going on in this
while almost nothing was going on.
Yeah. You know, like in previous ones,
we've had people trying to protect their
store, people trying to protect their
family, people trying to protect their home.
Yeah. This is like,
what was actually... Yeah, but again,
it is the first one, so nobody even knew
what they were doing fully.
Yeah, but I'm like, still with story,
if you're going to tell the story, who are
we supposed to, like, really cling
to in this? And it, you know,
essentially, it would be the girl
right her moral code was like good all along she helped her brother and then she's probably going to help the i forget
his name but the druggy guy like turn his ways and fight for a bigger like the bigger good
no no no the dmitri yeah the dmitri the leader or whatever um that she is going to help him fight for
the bigger good but i still wasn't like oh yes you know and i want to feel that like i just want to feel it more
I wanted to be connected to it more and I wasn't I still totally agree with you my favorite shot is the one shot the one or in a stairwell that's awesome a lot of the stunts in this were were great the fight scenes once they got to it especially him like crack in a neck yeah I'm on board for that you don't see it enough in movies and I'm like heck yes yeah that was really cool that was awesome I um and the music was really cool like you yeah the music drops were really cool closing out with Kendrick Lamar
very good choice I think that they did a really strong job with that the other but going to
something I also didn't don't think that they did enough of you are telling me you are in
Staten Island and as somebody who grew up in Boston I have a lot of friends from the city
and from Staten Island from I have friends from all over New York but I have friends that
really like even if it's not a big accent they embody Staten Island yeah or like I guess that
they were showing us around places,
but it didn't feel like this was taking place on Staten Island,
except for the fact that they just kept telling us,
we're in Staten Island, we're in Staten Island, we're in Staten Island.
Like the town, that movie, about Boston,
shows a great representation of, like,
no one has to say, like, this is a town, we're in Boston,
you just get it, versus they didn't, they didn't do that at all.
If they hadn't kept saying we're in Staten Island,
I don't even think I would have picked up on the fact that they're in Staten Island.
And it's like, all the reason I think they did that is because it's an island,
the fairy obviously, like, to get it.
get people off of it, it's more isolated, so it makes sense why that would be where the first
purge was. But then you need the people to embody Staten Island. I agree. And also, I think that
one of the things that a lot of East Coasters take pride in, especially people from Staten Island,
is like protecting your own, right? So kind of lean into that a little bit more, maybe.
Yeah. But then we see the Skeletor stuff, and it does get a little confusing. Yeah. Like,
if they leaned into, like, Staten, like, we're here, we're in New York.
This is how we are a community and protect each other.
Like they do in a lot of movies.
Like I said, Town is a good, like, representation of that.
They did a nice job with that.
There's always good actors in these movies, though.
Yeah, I agree.
None of the acting bugged me at all.
They're all solid.
It's really just the story and why I didn't feel like I was, like, you know, stoked on it.
I don't.
I missed Frank Grillo.
I miss Perge Daddy.
I miss, like, that connective tissue housing.
it all going to connect this we knew pretty quickly how it was all going to connect yeah and i missed
kind of having this be a fresh lens like oh the first one we do it in the house then we go out into
the world and then we can kill the politicians this one was like okay the gimmick is it's the first
but then we could have played around with the first a little bit more too like we didn't lean into
the marissa tomey stuff enough and also we didn't lean into the moral dilemma within ourselves
like even the questions i asked you would you do this it's a moral dilemma that every person would
have to ask yourself and I want to see them grapple with that you know we saw the mom and
daughter kind of grapple with but we need the money but what about hearing from them like you know
I don't murder still wrong this will still affect who I am or like this is the only day I can do
the you know just any kind of actual connection to the audience of making us question ourselves would
we do this because that's what the movies have done so far so I think they just could have done
a little bit better. I wonder how other people felt about this movie where you have it pulled up
on Amazon and it looks like it has a four and a half stars, which is, that's interesting. Maybe that
maybe people loved this one. It didn't work as well for me, although it was still engaging because
I like the concept of the purge movies. Yeah, me too. And I loved all the actors. And as I said,
I had some favorite shots in there, which is great. And I like the way that it was shot. The only thing
that really that bugs me is just the story. And it's not the story. And it's not the story.
as a total it's just there's parts in it where I was sitting here wondering why at this point
in time all the other movies I was like what's gonna oh my god and this one I didn't really feel
that at all because I kind of was like wait there has to be a switch in here as we both assumed
something that surprised us and there wasn't it just sort of continued where we thought it was
going to go which is okay still great stunts and stuff like that but the the
story for me didn't really hit it but maybe for other people they don't really need that and I always
do there's more purges after this right we know that there was the purge tv show yeah and then there's
and then I think there's more movies right I don't know I wonder where they could kind of go from here
like yeah I think they probably will break away from this story because this story was told and
fully unless they want to stay with purge daddy on this one and show us kind of what you wanted at the
end of this which is like did this change your life did this affect you where do you
Where does he go?
Where'd you go?
My love.
So any more
first purge thoughts?
No.
No, you guys got it all.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
I wish the story was better, mainly.
I just wanted to feel that pull a little bit more.
But it was a great acting, so that's good.
You know.
I'm going to say that I have no more thoughts on this either,
but mostly because I need to get feeling back
in my feet. Yep. And that's what we're
going to do from here. So thank you guys so much for being here
to purge with us. If there are more
purges and you want to see us cover them,
then write so in the comments, let
us know, like the video, tell your friends,
share it, all that good stuff.
And then we'll see you next time
for the purge five.
For the purge something. If it exists.
Yeah. Bye.
