Starting point is 00:06:48 Okay. I got to check it out. Well, I'm checking it out. You tell me, how did the Forever Purge stack up? That was our fifth purge. I actually really liked it. I think I liked it. Well, the last one, right, we said we, you guys know.
Starting point is 00:07:02 We didn't love that one. We didn't love it. And you guys know, even I forgot Purge Daddy and I was, you know, my brain. But that wasn't the last one. Nope, it was in the second. But I'm just saying sometimes it takes a second for my brain to catch up. Will Patton. Will Patton.
Starting point is 00:07:17 So I said, first I said Will. I think I started with Will and then I turned to Bill. Yep. Bill is a nickname for William though, right? Yes. Okay, so I was right. You're close. You're close.
Starting point is 00:07:27 She did it. She found it. Armageddon. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And then we got to, oh, and he's amazing in Silo. Okay, great, great. And this other guy is Josh Lucas and Josh Lucas.
Starting point is 00:07:43 See, I wanted to call him Alabama. Oh, and he's in Yellowstone also. Yeah. Okay, so there's just a lot going on here. There's a lot. There's a lot going on. Purge Mommy. Okay, so last one we didn't love, this one I like definitely better.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Yeah, me too. I didn't love, like, some of the exposition that they gave, like, the pregnant woman and some of the stuff that was going on where, um, is that okay? I think it is, because that's the backup. Because this thing is wrong. Because for you guys at home, us non-tech geniuses were frozen. Let's just hope we're not frozen for you guys. Let's hope. Keep going. I didn't love the exposition where, like, especially when the pregnant woman's like, we got to get out of here. and then also a white dude who's married to her. Like when they're in the van, he's like, we got to get you to Mexico. Stuff like that bugs me because we already know we're going to Mexico.
Starting point is 00:08:38 And this other girl could feed information while she's getting through this creepy room with Adela protecting her. That part, but there wasn't a ton of exposition in it. I really liked it. I liked them, the flipperooney, where obviously the people that he does not like have to now save him and I liked at the end where it's there it's obviously going to form a nice
Starting point is 00:09:02 relationship the entire premise of this I thought was good they did a good job of flipping it on its head where it's just like you are sitting so pretty here in America looking at people who are crossing the border and looking down on them like why did they do this they're coming to our country right and now when you need their help they're welcoming you open arms trying to get you there and it makes you stop and think about your prejudices that you have against people. I thought they did a good job with that with that one character because they don't make him an evil prick. They make him ignorant and they, I'm talking about a comb over guy. They make him ignorant and they make him unlikable but he's like not going around throwing slurs, you know. He doesn't
Starting point is 00:09:50 have a swastika on his face. We just know, okay, this guy has a lot of growing up to do. Like he's just not he's not a great dude but then people can change and through this through kindness and love we do see him start to change and i like that messaging i i think that i love any movie that tries to unite instead of divide and any movie that's like one love and i think that nationalism as a thing is kind of wild that we've created these borders these separations these divisions between people, between countries. Obviously, I'm speaking from an idealistic perspective right now, but like we're all human beings.
Starting point is 00:10:28 That's the most important race is the human race. And in this movie, I feel like they really tried to tackle that issue and show like just because you were born here doesn't make your life more valuable. And you can't just close your mind to the fact that you might love somebody of a different country or a different race or a different religion. You might need somebody of a different background than you. might thrive with somebody of it, you know, like,
Starting point is 00:10:54 so of all of those things, I feel like because of that, while this wasn't my favorite of the Purge movies, I think that the first couple were the strongest. Yeah. One, two, and three, I really like, but the reason I did like this more than four is I really feel like I got what they were going for,
Starting point is 00:11:09 and they did execute that. Now, was there a lot of exposition-y dialogue, for sure? Did this have Purge's daddy going on? No, it did not in the same way, but we did have Purge Mommy. Purge Mommy and I really like that. I did like that they made the two women in this like strong where it was like, the sister's like, I'll protect you and she knows how to use a gun and so does Adela.
Starting point is 00:11:31 The pregnant wife doesn't do too much, but the other two women did and they came through and I like that. But I like what your suggestion was with the sister-in-law, it did feel a little bit like I would have loved to have seen her have. They gave us some glimpses that she's into this one other dude and that's maybe why she's helping the Mexican people. But she, for the most part, when she's like, no, I'm going to stay and fight. And we're kind of like, what? Like, we haven't seen that from you. I would have loved to have seen scenes of them in the barn talking or, like, scenes of them where we understand that she is not her brother-in-law. We do get that moment on the table, right?
Starting point is 00:12:08 So we know that she doesn't have the same beliefs as him with I got to introduce you to this person or whatever. But in general, I just, I thought this was a really, really solid franchise. And I think that this did something really cool by not staying on Purge Night. Yeah. That was awesome that you're like, oh, yeah, what we have said since the beginning of like, this is eventually going to bite them in the ass, right? Because why are people actually following the rules that when the alarm goes off and the sun comes up that everybody just stops? To the second. And I'm like, yeah, would that actually happen? I like that they explored that it may not. People would get hip to it and go, let's continue it. And on top of that, what are the ramifications? What are the repercussions of the society of what they've built? And we haven't been able to see that one time.
Starting point is 00:12:55 You know, the most that we have seen from any purge movie after the purge is five minutes. And it's always happy. It's just them reuniting being like a lie. Making it to the hospital or, you know, not killing somebody and then making it to the hospital. Yeah. Having the moral high ground, whatever it is, we get those five minutes and we see hope and future and like, okay, to the next year. But this actually showed us for the first time, like, this is fucked.
Starting point is 00:13:21 This is not helpful. And this has caused more division than unity. And something also that I thought was interesting was how you and I were kind of confused on what people's positions were because this isn't quite our world. And it is a little confusing because the government has set these rules, right? Yeah. But then at the end of the day, the government is sending the military to try to rescue people. But those are the same people that are done.
Starting point is 00:13:46 doing this because of the choices that the government has made. So at that point, those are anti-government people, but through all the other purge movies, the anti-government people have been the good guys. But in this, the anti-purge for one-night people were the bad guys. So the people who were raging against the government in this were the bad guys, as opposed to every other purge movie where it was the good guys raging against the government. Right, right. Because they're like, we don't like the purge and we don't support it.
Starting point is 00:14:13 But now, yes, now this one definitely. flipped it because it just became a for everything and you can't really you can't really justify like who's who like when they were running away trying to get to the border we're like now they are absolutely fucked because you have no idea who is a perjure and who is just escaping because everyone escaping and a perjure is going to have a weapon and try to defend themselves at this point it's pure chaos and the world is on fire which is why that flag saved them um I mean at this point, I'd be like, I wish there was a hobby lobby, I got a spray paint purge purification on me. Yeah, but then you might get killed by somebody who's like, who's like, screw you. But then I, yeah,
Starting point is 00:14:53 I mean, it's complicated. Yeah, that's what I did like about this. This was more nuanced. There weren't two types of people. There were a bunch of different types of people. Yeah. People who had previously been probably pro purge. I mean, we did see that the wife, the pregnant wife, was not pro purge, which was interesting because I had said, Texas is probably pro perj. but then we see the pregnant wife who's like fuck the purge this sucks you know like don't let the NFFA tell us what to do yeah and it's like oh okay so in our world is that a liberal person right I assume so but then she's the rich girl who is who is part of that perpetrating the system with the farming system so is this a conservative so it was kind of cool to see the nuance of like
Starting point is 00:15:36 not everybody under different umbrellas has all the same values you know and we're seeing that in our current world today where like you might identify as one thing but you there's a it doesn't mean that you have gray area yeah like the overall arch of one specific point of view doesn't mean it's everything that you believe in exactly and then in this when we're watching i'm like i think i know what that person's about and then they make different decisions like with a white blonde cowboy guy when we were like oh screw this guy and i was like he's not going to make it to the end he's not going to live because he's a douche. And then it's like, oh, oh, he actually is ignorant
Starting point is 00:16:13 and he is adapting and learning and growing and we do need to allow for people to do that. So while he's not as good of a guy as our two lead Mexican people, the Juan and Alia. Adela. Adela. Adela. Adela. A-D-E-L-A. I feel like you've made her a little sheep herd.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Adelaidea. Adela. That is what they called it. But, like, those are clearly our protagonist, right? Those are our good guys. Yes. And he's not that, but he's also not, not mother and father. He's not daddy and mother, weird guy. Yeah, I think I would have liked at the end because we still got exposition from other people that if you're going to have that there, at least have maybe him at the end, just go, hey, thank you.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Like a genuine thank you to go like he, we've seen him go with them. It's probably made a change. It's not really confirmed. I don't know. But I do think if we don't want him to be, to still have that, like, bad juice inside of him going through all that, I would have liked to see him, like, thank them. Did he do that?
Starting point is 00:17:21 Did he say thank you? And I just, like, blanked on it. I think earlier on he did when he, like, kept the car. But, no, I would have liked a moment, too. Like, just again at the end, just a moment of, like, yeah, and then the other people don't say any, like, thank you back. It's just, it's a head nod, and it get out, and we understand each other more now.
Starting point is 00:17:37 I know that this isn't part of the review as much, but, like, what happens from here? Yeah, I mean, it's, it's... Your refugees in Mexico. Yeah, it's the flip of now we have way more American refugees than we've, it's mostly always other countries. And now it's America is like burnt to the ground. And you know, so funny is that a lot of my Mexican friends give me shit when I say Americans, because that's not what they call us because I guess, like, it's all, when we're North America, you're North America.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Right. To them, that is part of an America. Yeah. So it's like the, I guess the United States people are refugees. Are, yes. Like the same continent. Yeah. Because it didn't, yeah, I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Yeah. They're probably coming like, Merca. And they're like, yeah, we're part of that too. We're all North America, bro. Yeah. Yeah. We're all included in it. You're the one who put up this fucking wall at border.
Starting point is 00:18:35 You freaks. Yeah. I would like a forever purge sequel to see what was going on with the Canada border. Yeah, that would have been, that would have, it would be cool to see also to see like them having to live without status. I mean, now the white people who are in Mexico, their status and their money and their houses and their cars and their gold is gone. Yeah. So their whole way of living is going to be new. And I'd be so interested of like, you're now sleeping in a.
Starting point is 00:19:06 tent not that i mean she had her baby she had an iv like they had it set up it's not like they're going home to a house yeah no i would like to see how they're going to live their life but then yeah also how how did the purge happen in canada i don't know so this movie was in 2021 to me that that was so recent yeah very recent that means to me that there's not like a door closed on the purge franchise i genuinely think that there's more stories to be told here hope so about post purge putting it back together going back to earlier purges like there's just i this premise is good not one of these movies has been a waste of time no no no they've all been great and they they always make us think on like a moral ground like an idea of like what's the moral ground here what's like right and what's wrong and
Starting point is 00:19:56 why do people live this way like it evokes a lot of thought all right i think we did it we did it we purge the perch? We did it. Did we forever perched though? I hope not because I would like to see some more but how did you feel about the spider situation? I didn't see any single one I mean I believe that they were maybe in the foreground maybe just too small for us to see it I think we got rid of them I think we perched them yeah okay okay thanks for being here with us guys uh if there's another purge we'll be back here for that otherwise leave suggestions if you want to see us cover a different franchise or a different We'll be back here anyway. We will.
Starting point is 00:20:36 And purge you later. It's a weird sign off. That was good. I don't think perjulator works. Perjulator. Yeah, they get it. All right, John, pick a name. Andrew Hayes.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Andrew Hayes. You know what? I'm going to get you for Christmas this year. Santa's delivering to you. No, coming down to gym. He is delivering first, an operating table. Hey, you're going to wake up
Starting point is 00:21:08 strapped to an operating table. It's going to be there. You're going to think you're in some weird nightmare and you're in some sleep paralysis thing that you just cannot get out of it. Like, I need to wake up. No, ho, ho. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:21:22 You're on the naughty list. You're on the naughty list this year. Santa is going to surgically remove your legs without anesthesia because anesthesia is a sin for some reason. Yeah. And he's a Christian scientist.
Starting point is 00:21:38 He doesn't believe in medication. And he's going to make sure your mouth is just really taped shuts or that way. You can't even scream, man. You can't even do it. But he's going to give you a new pair of legs to your taller. Oh, dude. You're going to be like, twist. What are those mythical creatures with the hooves?
Starting point is 00:21:57 Oh, like, like Mr. Tumnus kind? What is a Mr. Tumness? He's got. like goat legs he's like goat legs yeah those guys fawn yeah he's a fawn yeah he's a he's turning into a fawn and Santa's gonna turn you into a fawn so you're gonna
Starting point is 00:22:12 wake you're gonna be taller they're like whoa I could see above the table and I can like run yeah I can run and then you take off your jeans to see your new big thing and you're gonna be like oh my god Santa gave me fawn legs yeah and you're gonna be like oh no and that's the ironic tale is you are now taller but you have
Starting point is 00:22:32 Fawn legs. Yeah. So what cost did you achieve this height for? And the ultimate mystery that we cut away from to commercial break
Starting point is 00:22:41 is like, did he leave your thing or did you give you a fond thing? And which one is bigger, you know? Well, that's what the sequels were.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Oh, it's right. Yeah. So Andrew trying to find love of his own kind. So Andrew, I hope this holiday season you could learn to
Starting point is 00:22:56 adjust to your new life. You could have been just a paraplegic. You could have. But now you've got fond legs. I'd say you should have been a paraplegic
Starting point is 00:23:05 So really, man You should have been a paraplegic man You should have just said no santa please No please No I don't need the fond legs man Keep my stumps But really man it's your call And I hope you have a great Christmas
Starting point is 00:23:22 With your family and your hot mom And continue saving people from getting their houses Broken in A fond man Yeah Thank you.
