Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings saga! Join them for their FIRST TIME Reaction, Commentary, Analysis, Breakdown, & Full Movie Spoiler Review of The Return of the King—the epic conclusion that brings the journey of Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Gandalf, and the fellowship to its heart-stopping finale. Elijah Wood returns as Frodo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf the White, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Sean Astin as Samwise Gamgee, Andy Serkis as Gollum / Smeagol, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, John Rhys-Davies as Gimli, Billy Boyd & Dominic Monaghan as Pippin & Merry, Liv Tyler as Arwen, Miranda Otto as Éowyn, Karl Urban as Éomer, Bernard Hill as Théoden, David Wenham as Faramir, and Sean Bean as Boromir in flashbacks—with unforgettable scenes featuring the ultimate battle for Middle-earth! Let's not forget the movie quotes Aragorn’s inspiring battle cry, “The day may come when the courage of men fails… but it is not this day,” and his reverent words to the hobbits, “My friends, you bow to no one.” Éowyn’s defiant triumph shines with “I am no man!”, while Sam’s hopeful reminder, “There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for,” resonates deeply. Gandalf offers wisdom with “I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil,” and celebrates victory with “A great shadow has departed.” Frodo’s chilling, “The Ring is mine,” marks his moment of succumbing to temptation, while Aragorn’s quiet resolve in “For Frodo,” before charging into battle, leaves a lasting impression. Roxy & Tara REACT to the Best Scenes & Most EPIC Moments, including The Lighting of the Beacons, Sam vs. Shelob, Pippin Sings for Denethor, The Ride of the Rohirrim, Aragorn’s Speech at the Black Gate, Éowyn vs. The Witch King, Frodo & Sam in Mount Doom, The Eagles Arrive, The Destruction of the Ring, Aragorn’s Coronation, and Beyond!! More on them in just a bit.
I know it.
Ergorn.
She's juicing over here.
All right.
I don't think I can wait any longer.
Are you ready for the Lord of the Rings?
The return of the king.
Don't forget to get your Rejectnation shop.com.
I'm wearing this right now, but pop up, we got a holiday sweater.
It will probably be up on the screen right now by the time this comes out.
So get it.
By the time the third one is out, you guys might be in the thick of the actual holidays.
Totally.
But it's still worth it.
with it to buy, I feel like holidays last through February, right?
Absolutely.
It's chilly out, you want to be in your holiday spirit.
But now it's time for the Lord of the Rings, the Return of the King, supposedly the best one
of the franchise.
I don't even know how that's possible.
Here we go.
Just so you guys know, if you're watching this right now, Tara and I watched all three
of these in one week.
We have not uploaded any of them, so there was no time for us to course correct or pivot.
If you guys are screaming things at us, like, that's Carl Urban.
Right.
We weren't able to see those comments because we did all of these before the holiday season.
Also, if you're watching this or you're listening right now, don't forget, five star on Apple, Spotify.
If you are on YouTube, let us know how you guys felt about this journey.
Are you excited to go on the Hobbit journey with us?
Is that something you want to do?
and make sure that you give us some love in there.
Okay, so you were answering my question
that I rudely interrupted.
Were you satisfied with the ending?
Let's hear it.
Oh, yes, absolutely satisfied
because this story really is about love and friendship
and the way that we really traveled with that
was through Sam and Frodo.
And Frodo's ring would have never made it into the fire
if it wasn't for Sam.
I mean, like, it's insane how Sam protected
the ring. Like you called that when he snagged it from him. He was able to give it back from him.
But like for him to climb the mountain on his own and like kill the spider and he's just like always there for him.
Like no matter what giving him his water, his food. I mean, that's like he is the purest example of how friends sacrifice for other friends.
And then when you're accused, there's nothing worse than being, knowing you're doing the right thing, knowing you're doing the right thing.
knowing you're being a good friend or person
and then being accused of the opposite
and you're like what I gave my life to this
and that's when Ghalam is like
he ate the food and it's like we already saw Sam skip
out on dinner to give Frodo dinner.
So we already know, yeah, but just
yeah, sorry, keep going, keep going lady.
No, I mean, like absolutely.
I think, you know, the thing that will really stick with me
is, you know, yeah, I can't carry it,
but I can carry you.
and that's what true friends do when you are down on your luck or going through some shite your friends can bring you up can like carry you up the hill like that was the purest example of what really true strong friendship is and i just feel like that's exactly what this this movie's about totally you can't carry somebody else's burden but you can help carry them yeah um when they need it and yeah it was so beautiful
I was actually glad to see when Sam did take the ring, though, that even he struggled with it.
Yeah.
Because this really is, the whole time, you're kind of wondering, like, why isn't Sam, maybe they should switch off?
But this really is Frodo's journey.
Like, this is, I know this was called the Lord of the Rings, but it might as well have been called Frodo.
He is in this, he's the holder of the ring.
And this to me was very similar.
you know, I don't remember a lot
of Harry Potter, but one thing
we do know is that Daniel
Radcliffe is Harry Potter
and the movies are called in the books
Harry Potter and the
and he's at the center. It's interesting
these are similar time periods
here Daniel Radcliffe
and Elijah Wood very different
very similar looks, very similar
types of leading man
energy with groups of friends around
them. And I think that's why
both these have been so successful as well.
is about friendship and but one person's journey
and this was Frodo's journey
and everybody at the end played their part
because I was kind of wondering this after the last movie
I loved the last movie but I was like
how much is this about the ring anymore
like with the two towers
we're fighting wars
but really Sam's the only one
helping anymore with the ring
even though the wars are about the ring
but in this one when we get to a diversion
it is everybody's doing their part in a different way
people are on the ground they're in the air
they're fighting however they can to help
with Frodo's journey
to destroy the ring
which just like
was not a second too long
like no part of me was like I want less of this
right one minute throughout the entire
so this was a nine and a half hour run
right with all three movies combined
right and it's just one journey
of a man to destroy a ring
true and every minute was engaging
every battle every character
even the characters I couldn't stand
Theodon my apologies you ended up getting there
whatever that other dude's name is
Can't stand you
Denethor you suck bro
We didn't see the white wizard in the end in this one
He sucked too though I saw him on
You suck bro
But so many interesting characters
Gallum Smeagall's fascinating character
like just they didn't go wrong with a single frame a single second perfection across the board
and they ended this perfectly just perfect i agree i i also found it really moving especially when
gim gimley says um death is certain but uh i forget what the the latter part of it is but when
they they are like cool we're going to take them on so froto can finish this mission
Them saying they'll take it on is knowing that their death is certain.
I mean, when Aragon, Aragorn pitches that to them,
they know that death is waiting at their door, like, as an absolute and they still do it.
And we just see, like, time and time again how all of these friends,
these people who have each other's backs rise to the frickin occasion.
And then luckily, you know, Frodo gets it done and they're saved.
I love how the land collapsed under all the orcs and then didn't collapse under them, which was great.
But just before that, the major sacrifice that they were going to make was a beautiful sacrifice for, like, the greater hole of what they were searching for.
And you wouldn't, you just wouldn't normally find that, I don't think, in a lot of stories where you wouldn't be able to go, nah, they wouldn't do that.
What are they doing?
in this you're like they would absolutely do that they would absolutely do that they would absolutely go death is certain we're going to do it anyway because they have proven that throughout all of these movies in the way that all these characters are written and it's just brilliant i do want to watch the extended editions i am so curious what else was cut out because yeah one of the things um not that i don't even want to call it being nitpicky because i do think that these movies were perfect but i really liked um um um um um uh
Galadriel and was so curious about her story.
Yeah.
I was like, Galadriel seems like, you know,
in the moment that Galadriel doesn't accept the ring,
I was like, wow, where is she come?
What is her deal?
I want to know more.
Her story.
And I, and of course, I wanted more time with Arwen and Erichorn.
So, like, I am curious if there is more of that in the extended edition,
do we get more Galadriel?
Do we get more Arwen?
because like the fact that in on all the covers they're on the covers they are but it's not they're
not in that much and even in this in this this this one I am curious if in the extended edition of
leg loss is in there more because leg loss was kind of not not heavily involved in this
final movie family was more involved in legoloss I felt so maybe more in the extended
edition of that right but I understand why they made if they if it is more an extended edition I
think they cut down the perfect version because you can't put out a theatrical release that's longer
than three hours and 20 minutes no you really can't people are gonna be like nope yeah so it's just
make like you can't you're not put down a four hour movie so right yeah I think that they just made
perfect cuts you know what we can actually do this time though Tara true yeah yeah because yeah we
we're not worried about spoilers anymore got there here we go one more time everybody
feeling fine um oh man he took away the charger again
again bro you everybody on my shit list yeah you got to do it okay yeah I'm at 6% and I
got to get home here's the charger okay let's do this all right okay sir
Christopher Lee Saramon read
the Lord of the Rings once a year until
its death in 2015
and had done so since the year it was
published. He was also the
only member of the cast and crew
to have ever met
J.R.R. Tolkien.
Who was it? Christopher Lee
who played Sarmon. Yeah.
Sarmon, right? Yeah.
Director Sir Peter... Oh, read it every
year. That's nuts. Until his
death. Director
Sir Peter Jackson gave one of the rings
used in the movies to Elijah Wood and Andy Circus as a gift when the shoot was finished.
They both thought they had the only one.
That's amazing.
I will say those are the two to give it to.
We didn't talk much about Gollum's demise, and I think that that was brilliant what ended up happening.
Because there was good in him, but it kept getting eaten at and eaten at.
I know I keep going back to the addict, the comparison.
Yeah, but it's very similar.
If you let it get the best of, if you don't fight it, if you don't try to stop it, then it will take hold of you.
And eventually, he thought he had the last laugh.
He bit the finger.
Yeah.
He gets the ring and it killed him anyway.
Totally.
Just and also just greed and in general.
But we saw good in him too.
Thank you to Huell for sponsoring today's video.
Now, guys, I'm going to give you all the God's honest truth of how this sponsorship came to be.
Sponsorship came to be.
We got contacted about basically partnering up with Huell.
Before we agreed to anything, the very first thing I said was I would like to try the product first.
I did a Instagram post on our Real Rejects one.
It was the first time you see me trying the Huel product.
Basically going like, hey, we might not partner with them.
This is not a paid Instagram post, but I just wanted to try it since a lot of you guys asked for, like, health recommendations now
and the know kind of what I take only because of the fact that I'm vegetarian.
I have very limited protein options.
So I gave it a shot and ended up loving it.
primarily the chocolate one.
Wow, this is really, this is a really great one.
One of the best things about it is that, yes, it's pre-packaged,
and a lot of times when it comes to, like, the pre-packaged bottles,
I'm not a big fan of them normally,
which he got me drinking on camera, is one of these,
which takes a very long time to put together
and can often get messy, and it's just not aesthetically pleasing,
but I'm trying to pack like a lot of vitamins and fiber protein.
The best part about Huell is a lot of what I try to package
to this one giant shake is already available in this little bottle,
often taste better than what I can actually assemble myself. It actually tastes great.
It's got a high protein intake count as well. And you know what?
Brad new bottle. If you guys can see, it's filled to the top. This is how good it tastes.
Now, normally, what you want to do is spread it out. But if you want it in one go, it is just a
This could taste really freaking good.
Thank you so much for sponsor in this video.
The one thing they want me to say is this is you can get 15% off Huell today with code Rejects at Huell.com slash Rejects.
Fuel your best performance with Huel today.
They are great and I am already almost out of the many bottles they sent me.
If you guys do go check them out at Huel.com slash rejects.
You'll see that they got a whole bunch more items available as well.
And if they taste anything as good as this, I'm going to be a very happy customer for a very, very long time.
So join me on this health journey.
We did.
And that was, that was, when I said in the beginning,
I was like, I'll be sad to see him if he dies
because we had gotten the sweet side of him
and a lot and two.
But the ring was obviously his demise
and he had to go down with it.
Otherwise, it just would probably, you know, eat him alive.
Gandoz's painful encounter with a ceiling beam
in Bilbo's Hobbit hole was not in the script.
Sir Ian McKellen banged his forehead
against the beam accidentally.
Oh, my God.
Sir Peter Jackson.
and thought McHellon did a great job acting through the mistake and kept it in.
That's hysterical.
I love that.
Let's see if I...
That wasn't in this movie, though.
No, it was in...
Because I wanted to go to the first one first and then get to this one and seeing if the...
I think just hit us with the trivia from this one.
Hopefully we'll have all the stuff in it.
Like the ending stuff.
Yeah.
Okay.
I was curious.
Here we go.
Thank you, boo.
I have no phone.
I'm helpless.
You're all good. One second.
Just let me get to it. Okay.
Since John Rize Davies suffered constant rashes from wearing Gimley makeup,
the makeup department gave him the opportunity to throw his Gimley mask into the fire on his last day and pick up photography.
He didn't hesitate a moment to grab it and burn it.
John Riz-Davis is so good in this role, bro. He's so good.
To get enough extras for the battle of the Black Gate,
a few hundred members of the New Zealand army were brought in.
Shut up.
They apparently were so enthusiastic during the battle scenes
that they kept breaking the wooden swords and the spears they were given.
It's amazing.
That is awesome.
The last shot of principal photography was when the newly crowned Aragorn bows to the four hobbits.
Although Vigur Mortensen did not need to be on set for that day,
he nevertheless insisted on attending.
He didn't have a crown.
it wasn't necessary he wasn't being filmed so he fashioned one out of paper with each successive take the crown was becoming more ornate and sillier as crew members kept decorating it so the four actors playing the hobbits often had difficulty suppressing their giggles dude oh my god that is what like a family set is is like that's the purest example because you know he's not being shot like he did not
need to be there. Yeah, but then he's distracting
the other actors, which is hilarious, but also
I would be like, stop, bro. Totally.
That's amazing, though. It's awesome.
We know the rings thing. Let me see if I can get to
some spoilers, how they were both
given a ring, and it was identical.
They thought they had the only one.
Oh, my God. Y'all, this trivia
page is...
What do you want, IMDB?
A mile long. Like, I've never seen...
Are you on IMDB? There we go, yes.
I always just look for the one with the most likes.
Yes, that's what I was reading at the top.
But I was looking for spoilers now.
So, um, okay.
Hold on.
Each of the cast members was given a gift on their last day of shooting,
usually a prop that was significant to their roles.
Miranda Otto received one of Eowen's dresses and her sword.
Liv Tyler received Arwin's dying dress.
Orlando Bloom got one of Legolas's bows.
One of Legolas's what?
His bows, like his bow, sorry, bows.
bow and arrow.
I was reading it as about.
I thought you were saying bowel like poop.
I was like, oh, my God.
While filming Sarmon's death scene,
Sir Peter Jackson tried to tell Sir Christopher Lee
how to react and breathe
after he was stabbed in the back.
Lee, a World War II veteran
with British Special Forces,
assured Jackson that he knew
what a man sounded like
when stabbed in the back.
Yeah, imagine trying to tell him that.
He would have been so,
I would have been so annoyed
if I was him. Wow. So Sauramon, we, I was kind of expecting to see something about like a reference to him or anything, but there really was not. There wasn't. I'll read two more. For the scene where Frodo gets pierced by Shalab, Elijah Wood, had two Alka-Seltzers hidden under his tongue, which he chewed to create the white foam. Oh my God. That's awesome. That is so cool. Okay, last one. He was probably like trying not to smile when it worked.
like yeah that's cool right sir ian mckellan's first day of shooting on the trilogy with
gandolph's first scene arriving in hobbiton his second day of shooting was gandolph's final
scene of this movie at the gray havens wow that's crazy that's insane that's filmmaking for you
that makes sense for location stuff but that is so that's wild yeah to have to go beginning and
the end right the next day are you 10 out of 10 on this franchise absolutely yeah it's just like
unbelievable so many great lessons
love it uh yeah i i will watch the extended edition maybe i'll probably wait a little bit but
then i'll jump in for it because i am super curious we're not over yet though guys we are going
into the hobbit movies um and i'm guessing based on the book that those are prequels
okay yeah i don't know based on billbo writing them oh yes of course based on the book that we've
seen the movie that's my guess yeah that billbo wrote the hobbit tale so that's probably what
the movies are yeah um so maybe
we get a younger bilbo going through life
that'd be cool he had the ring
I like that oh yeah then we would get to
follow him and see like him
getting it from beginning until
when he doesn't have it
these movies although I did not remember any
a single frame of them
but I did see them when I was
like in fifth grade or something
the Hobbit movies I never saw
okay yeah I've never seen him
