Starting point is 00:01:20 but um bum that's nice We know where we're headed. Peru, maybe. We know we're headed for the movie that never got made. Yeah. Oh, man, guys, if you're listening to us on Apple or Spotify, give us a five-star rating, like this, share this, comment, give us all the juice. Yeah, okay, so the Mummy 3, it was, it was good.
Starting point is 00:01:49 I mean, we were so built up to think, like, it was going to be really bad. Right. And I actually didn't think that it was really bad. It kept me entertained. I thought it was a little slow. In the beginning, and I think we had a hard time with, like, the chemistry, like, believing, like, when they were at their house, they're like, cheers to retirement. I think it's like if we, if it had been him and Rachel Weiss in the second movie, we still had kind of a slow beginning with them at home. But we still, it didn't feel as slow as this one for some reason.
Starting point is 00:02:18 And that may be a chemistry thing. I'm not sure. I'm not sure what. The random freaking Yeties, I'm here for it. I love me some Yeties. I mean, and the choreography and the action, you know, there was some really great choreography, even from the top to, like, at the end, which I've really, really liked. I mean, I was entertained. Sure, there's some stuff that was like, but all in all, I didn't think it was as bad as it was built up to be.
Starting point is 00:02:46 No. Yeah. Not at all. I thought this was fun. Yeah. People, I honestly don't think that it was a far departure from the first two. I think, granted, there's some things that didn't work totally, but overall, I was like, this is not, like, this isn't like a three where the other ones are like a seven or eight. Like, this is like, this fits in like nicely.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Granted, does it feel a little different than the first two? Sure, but, you know, we saw how Brandon Fraser feels like the same guy, just a little older. You know, the Jonathan still feels the same. And then the setting's different, but I enjoy the different setting. And I enjoy the different things that came with exploring like the Chinese mysticism of like the mummy and like the stuff that. came with that and I feel like like too it had that sense of adventure and we did get to go multiple places which I did really enjoy it I enjoyed the action scenes I enjoyed the creativity on display both with him the mummy himself being able to turn into different creatures I enjoyed the the yetis
Starting point is 00:03:41 and did all the chemistry work for me no but I thought Brandon Fraser was great I thought the sun was great even though he had a different accent I thought their chemistry worked really well I thought all of the stuff regarding the how they took down the mummies was cool and it made sense to me for the first time
Starting point is 00:03:59 I was like okay yeah we're not gonna just keep shooting at things that clearly aren't working unless you shoot them multiple times but if you shoot them once yeah that makes sense to me so I don't know I had fun with it
Starting point is 00:04:10 even though like some stuff felt kind of rushed like the chemistry between or the relationship between the daughter and Brennan Fraser's son yeah I thought that could have been developed a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:04:24 It doesn't make sense really why they were tired, but I'm happy that they were back. And overall, I just thought it was a fun adventure. I talked to a friend right before this. Like, yeah, I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes. I was like, why? Really? Yeah. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:40 Yeah, a certain person we know, just like, couldn't get past the first 15. I was like, really? This was not that bad. I also thought the beginning was fun. I thought it was interesting. That was one of the choreography. You brought it up. said cool career. That was in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Yeah, it was in the beginning. And I just thought that did some elements seem a little bit familiar to the other ones? Sure, but this was not that bad, honestly. Not that bad. You know what I find really surprising? Number one, the kid, he's full on British. Oh, yeah. In the other movies.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Yeah. But also, he knew multiple languages. He knew the Sanskrit, which he wrote it in the sand. But I also would have liked it a lot more if he knew Japanese and spoke to her in her, like, native language. then I would have believed that relationship more because that kid was really, really smart
Starting point is 00:05:25 when we saw him in the second one. Like, I think they even said, like he knew how to speak different languages. And I thought that would have been really cool because I believed her more when she was just speaking in her native language to her mom. I really like those scenes. I, it was fine when she spoke English
Starting point is 00:05:43 because I just felt it more when she was speaking in her native language. I would have liked that between her and him. I wouldn't mind if it was more subtitles. that would have been fine with me. I do like also, in regards to the emperor and his army, did you notice that they made them look more like Nazis? Like the thing around their arms had the star,
Starting point is 00:06:02 they kind of messed with it, but it looked like close to a Nazi symbol. The emperor was wearing a, it was some weird necklace thing that looked kind of like almost could be a Nazi symbol. We were like, okay, we get it. We get, like they're the bad guys. I liked kind of how they played with that.
Starting point is 00:06:21 And I do agree, like, the emperor having power over all of these elements made it really interesting. Yeah. I was just wondering why he wasn't just making icicles and just shooting people in the face with an icicle. Like, there's just so many ways. I like that he used the cannon balls. That was great. The fireballs, I mean, he just, yeah, in looking at him, I'm like, how do you beat him? He could have been more creative with the usage of his power.
Starting point is 00:06:51 But still, I believed him as a threat as something they had to go against. Also, I like the fact that in this movie, he was very much present throughout the entire story, you know, with being a consistent threat. Where I feel like the first movie, like a lot of it's like building up to the mummy. We deal with him in the third act. And the second movie, he's there. But like the ultimate thing we're going to is the Scorpion King. And then we had like this big CGI battle with him at the end. I also liked the CGI a lot more in this movie.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Yeah, Scorping and King was. This is a little rough, guys. This one was a lot better. But, yeah, overall, like, I enjoyed the action. Some of the stuff was, like, a little edit-y, little hyper-edited and choppy. I'm going to look up IMDBI while you're talking. Yeah, yeah. I didn't mind it.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Something I said earlier, what I was going to say earlier, but I wanted to let the characters talk, is at first I didn't really buy the fact that Brendan Fraser was his dad because I want to say that the first movie came out in 2002, 2001-2002. And this movie came out in 2008. Well, that's like a six year difference, but then we jump all the way to like the 40s. So he's supposed to, I get, there's more time that's passed within story than there has outside of story. But Brandon Frazier still looks great for his age. And then he looks 20.
Starting point is 00:08:06 But I feel like when we got that scene of them really connecting in the cave, I really started to believe that, okay, yeah, this is a father and son. I like that it's stuck with that central family theme, you know, and we got to see how his, adventures kind of influenced him and his journey as someone who wanted to go and treasure hunt himself because of what he saw his dad go through. I also thought it was kind of funny that there was a lot of like meta references, you know, because internally within the story, their mummy adventures had been into like a franchise in and of itself, you know, so the fact that we were like tongue-in-cheek with that was pretty fun.
Starting point is 00:08:45 And yeah, I don't know, man. I like this one. And the stunts were good, too. And the choreography, like, any stunts that came about, there was really cool stunts. I mean, especially when we were supposed to see Maria Bello flying out of the car. That stunt woman, like, I mean, she came out of the car, rolled on the ground and so did the guy. That looked really good. Any of the choreography never had a problem with, like the sword stuff, especially at the end.
Starting point is 00:09:09 I thought that was great. The random of, I wish that before we had known that they had some weird Yeti power so that we could kind of feel it coming so that when she goes to call the Yetis, we would go, oh, right, they have a Yeti power. Yeah. I would have really liked that, that it would have been hidden somewhere. Maybe it was, and we completely missed it, but I don't think so. It was random as hell.
Starting point is 00:09:36 It was random as hell. I still really like seeing the Yetis and how much they helped him. But that was so, like, to write it in the script of like, let's just send her during this huge fight, she's going to start calling out some stuff that. nobody will understand and then it will be yeties will come out and everyone went yep write it put it in it makes sense like a studio note are gonna add yetis to say them like oh my god like what like it's so that was random i still really enjoyed it yeah i thought that that was fun it was good to see i wish that it would they would have linked that to something else um
Starting point is 00:10:13 but you know what in you saying about the sun and the timeline it says that rachel vice did not appear in this third installment, there were different accounts as to why it happened. According to director Rob Cohen, it was because Weiss refused to portray someone with a 21-year-old son. Vise simply did not like the script enough to sign on. The rumors went out that it was because she didn't want to leave her toddler. She made it very clear. That was absolutely not true. You can see her in many films that were filmed this same year. So she just didn't want to do it. Didn't think it was good enough. Crazy, right? Let's see. Because yeah, Brandon Fraser,
Starting point is 00:10:54 I believe their chemistry which sold the fact their father and son, but he does not like old enough to be his dad. Right, right. Yeah, okay, so it says, oh, in the closing scene, the screen text says, Mommies, Descarved in Peru.
Starting point is 00:11:09 It says there was indeed going to be a third sequel title, Mummy 4, but Rise of the Aztex. But since the ad texts are native to Mexico, it probably would not have been set in Peru, Brendan Frazier in the cast's third film had signed up for the sequel, and Antonio Banderas would have played the main antagonist. However, the film was canceled in favor of the reboot, The Mummy 2017.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Boom. Yeah, which was meant to be the first chapter in the dark universe in our connected movies featuring the classic movie monsters such as the mummy, Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, the Wolfman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Frankenstein. However, due to the critical and commercial failure of the Mummy 2017, all other proposed movies were eventually scrapped and consoled. Okay, let's see.
Starting point is 00:11:55 I'll read one spoiler. A slightly extended final fight between Rick, Alex, and the Emperor was originally shot after Rick Brendan Frazier manages to get the upper hand. The Emperor Jet Lee changes back into a terracotta statue, which is subsequently broken into pieces by Rick. However, the pieces reassemble, forcing Rick and Alex to fight him together. the extended scene is included in the Blu-ray version.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Okay, so it's like son and dad get to fight them together, right? That's kind of how that would go. I kind of like that. That's cool that you get that extended version in the Blu-ray. I did not hate this movie. There are, for some reason at the top,
Starting point is 00:12:38 and I think it had to do with chemistry, I thought it was a little slow and maybe not as much fun in some of the scenes. I was like, oh, could they, speed this up a little bit um but other than that i mean brenden everyone in this did a great job i just wish that the the one actress that she would have spoke more in her native language i would have liked that more i think from her and her performance um overall though still a fun film
Starting point is 00:13:06 do you want to guess what this has on i mdb out of 10 oh good question i'm going to guess that it has a five and a half. So 5.5? Yeah, but I kind of want to say 6.5, but because we got comments that people just hate it, I'm going lower. Is that your final answer? My final answer is 5.5. 5.2.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Oh, I was pretty close. You were pretty close. Okay. Yeah, I'm surprised that people hated it this much. I thought it was fun. Maybe it's the thing that people, like, grew up with these movies and they watch them a lot, so they had, like, a lot of nostalgia. but you and I didn't really grow up with them.
Starting point is 00:13:46 So we're just kind of watching it from a like an unbiased standpoint. And I feel like is it the strongest of the trilogy? No. But it's definitely not like the Batman and Robin of this movie trilogy. Yeah. It fits in well. It feels like it's a different director and I'm pretty sure it is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:02 But, you know, it was fun. Brandon Fraser still kills it. And I'm like, dang, I need to watch more Brandon Fraser movies because he is a dope actor. That man has charisma. He has the, physical acting chops and he's just that guy he's a superstar and yeah i would like to see more of him also what happened to the sun i've never seen his son in anything prior to this have you me neither no i don't nope having no idea and he was pretty good and he's a good looking guy i'm sure
Starting point is 00:14:29 that i mean this happens to me all the time where i'll watch a tv show and i'll be like oh my god where did they just did she just get lucky and get all the sudden cast as a star in this show and then you look at their i'm db and you're like they've been working for 20 years. So I'm sure that's his story, but who knows? I would like to see him more. I believe to him. I mean, he's a great, he'd be an easy person to cast. Be like, you fit this, these roles. So I don't know. We'll see. Though he did sound, I don't know if American is his first accent. Yeah. Let's see where he's from. Right? Because he, in a few lines that were not on his face, you could hear him sounding like he was from South Africa or he had a little bit of British in there, which is kind of. They're both Sibbler. Excuse me. He's Canadian. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:18 So don't they kind of have a little bit of a weird accent? A little bit. Right? I don't remember him saying about at any point. About? About. About? I'm not good at that.
Starting point is 00:15:29 A boat. Okay. So, yeah, he did have a little bit. All right. Okay. Well, yeah, I'll go with like, sure, maybe the five and a half. I'd give it like a six. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I didn't think it was that bad. I was still entertained. It's not the greatest movie out there. I wouldn't watch it again. But like, whatever, you know. You know, I'm going to 6.5. Yeah, good. I'm glad.
Starting point is 00:15:53 I'm happy for you and me that we watched it. And we didn't hate it. Like, a lot of you guys might have. But please even like, leave a comment. Tell us why you guys, if you dislike it, tell us why. If you loved it, tell us the parts that you loved. Like, did you love the random Yeti's been thrown up in there? I wish that they look like the Yeti at Disneyland.
Starting point is 00:16:12 but then that they would have gotten in trouble. But I love that they were just randomly thrown in there. I'm just going to tell people, if you watch The Third Mummy, there's some stuff that's randomly thrown in there, you'll know what I mean, and that's fun and exciting. And that's it. That's all we have to say. You have any last words?
Starting point is 00:16:30 That's it. We love you, Reject Nation. We'll see you on the next one.
