Starting point is 00:00:37 the best the best of the best of all the house, and much more. With offers
Starting point is 00:00:44 over-offerts I can go back day to do this I'm going with ancied the liquidation
Starting point is 00:00:50 because it's very hot to lose it's really on Burlington, Marks, no one can or hear your personal messages, whether it's a voice call, message, or sending a password. To WhatsApp, it's all just this.
Starting point is 00:01:09 So whether you're sharing the streaming password in the family chat, or trading those late-night voice messages that could basically become a podcast, your personal messages, stay between you, your friends, and your family. No one else. Not even us. WhatsApp. Message privately with everyone. This week's videos are sponsored by an app that I've been using since before we even partner with them and that app is rocket money more on them after the reaction people all righty all right are you ready to get simsumized and get all yellow and whatnot i am ready to see spider pig let's
Starting point is 00:01:42 see what it's all about erin let go what did you think of this movie i think that they if they are listening on apple spotify they should give us five stars as first of all but also um i really enjoyed this again i've not watched the show and so long. So I'm just not up to date on all my history. But having said that this was so much fun. Oh, Hans Zimmer did the music. They didn't have Danny Elman. Okay. Yeah. Oh, but Daniel Mended the theme. I love to. Really quickly, I just got to make this point. Danny Elfman did the Batman theme in the Michael Keaton films. And then Han, I know Elliot Goldenhal took over for the Val Kilmer and then the George Clooney. And then Hans Zimmer took over for the Christopher Nolan films along with James
Starting point is 00:02:26 New Howard. Come on, dad. Let's go. I've been. holding it since they put the dome over the town you can wait it's what we do here on the reaction now we hold it in people work really hard in this film and all they ask is for you to memorize their names i want to make sure no animals were harmed during the yes that's the most important thing oh my god her first word this is oh my god her first word Sequel? Hey, I don't think we did get one right.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I don't think it ever came. Yeah. That was a nice little possibility there. Yeah. I liked it. I really enjoyed it. It was, obviously, it was hysterical, which, you know, I appreciate it. But I like a lot of the actual, you know, messages in the film about environmentalism with Lisa and just in general, like, we got to take care of our planet or else, like, we're not going to be able to live in it, first and foremost.
Starting point is 00:03:28 and I liked all the characters and what they were dealing with that were very relatable things. You got Bart just feeling kind of like abandoned and not feeling loved by his father and then he has to turn to the neighbor was Ned Flanders or whatever his name is. Flanders, yeah, Flanders.
Starting point is 00:03:45 And then Marge, it's kind of, you know, in a similar thing, like she just feels alone in her relationship. And then Homer, he's just oblivious to everything. I think that's just his character trait, which it's hysterical, but I love the, We have that one moment where it really took itself extremely seriously and was a real moment. I really felt that.
Starting point is 00:04:04 It was very earned. And then you got that image of the heartbreak. I thought that was very beautiful. And for a film that was just so like very meta and very slapstick and very hysterical, like, again, that was just a really moment to break the tension, break the levity. And I just, I really did feel it in a moment in a film that I've just been laughing my ass off for the entire time. So then that's not easy to do. too for a film where you've been laughing the last hour. So I thought that was
Starting point is 00:04:32 good to get that really serious moment for Homer because he doesn't take anything seriously. So to actually like, holy shit, I do need my family. Like they complete me. I thought that was beautiful. And then with Lisa, I like how she turned into an environmentalist. And then also too, she wanted love
Starting point is 00:04:48 and she had a crush with this little kid. So I liked all these situations we were dealing with with all these characters. Very relatable. Resinated with me personally. On the same point and you got again we're dealing with the environmentalism stuff then you got like the government bureaucracy and then you got like the draconian nature of what the government can do in those situations uh it's scary shit but it was also funny at the same time i like the how they
Starting point is 00:05:13 were infusing uh that um it was it was an interesting mix but i found it really hysterical uh erin what do you think i thought this movie was great i had so much fun watching the simpsons over the course of this little under hour and a half And it's funny because, you know, Simpsons is like this cultural thing that we all kind of grew up with, right? But the fact that this movie is still so accessible to anybody, even if they haven't seen the Simpsons, it's just in a testament to the writing on this movie because it doesn't play a lot of inside baseball. And if it does, those jokes even land, maybe because of cultural osmosis or just because the writing in himself is really strong. And the fact that, listen, I think comedy is a very subjective experience.
Starting point is 00:05:55 But even in that, the fact that it's still able to. to hold up and because certain comedies of certain decades personally don't hold up for me so well but it's a true testament to how strong the writing is if you can watch this 10 15 20 years later and it still makes you laugh out loud for sure that stuff's great for sure I think the fact that this movie is able to be this nonstop slapstick fest while also keeping the momentum of without it getting tiresome is also really impressive you know because you can only do one joke so many times before it gets old, but I feel like this movie has not only a lot of great physical humor,
Starting point is 00:06:36 but a lot of humor variety, especially within like the dialogue. And then, you know, you have these bits or you have these sort of puns that they keep going. And then what makes it even better is there's like even little bits of humanity thrown in there, whether it be Lisa wanting to have her bit of love or it's Homer and Martin's relationship. And then, or if it's Bart wanting like a father that loves him and doesn't abuse him. You know, I think all of those things are relatable.
Starting point is 00:07:08 And I think that you have to have these relatable anchors of humanity to contrast the ridiculousness of the world of the Simpsons. Because I feel like that's what makes it, even though this is something that's kind of larger than life or outside of our realm of reality or possibility you have that that anchor point of something that you can latch on to which which makes these characters more endearing and the fact that we were able to go on this journey with them and not get tired of all the sticks and the the cutaways i think it's just really cool you know i would watch this movie again that the testament for me of an enjoyable movie is if you're able to watch it over and over again or and if you are wanting to show other people and experience that with them or have them experience it, and you guys talk about it.
Starting point is 00:08:01 And this is definitely one of those movies that falls in that category for me. Yeah, no, I agree with you that obviously all comedy and just films in general are very subjective. But, you know, it definitely did not feel repetitive or monotonous in terms of, like, you know, the jokes or the physical comedy. And I love the slapstick humor in it, too. Like, the physical comedy was absolutely hysterical where you think something's going to happen. And then they get into the subversion of expectations with something else is going to, I love shit like that. funny um but yeah and uh again i just i really loved um i think one of my favorite parts of the film uh again for homer a character that you know he doesn't take anything seriously at all i
Starting point is 00:08:40 just i love the way he had basically had an arc in the film just discovered like how much his family means to him and uh the moment he has with uh obviously we we talked earlier about the heartbreak moment with uh losing his family but then that moment he has at the end with uh bart because obviously he's just letting him do stupid shit earlier in the film like i dare you to run run naked in town and then even though it was a very hard uh stupid thing to let him hold the bomb it was also heartfelt like to do something like together with them even though it was to save the town yeah i mean it was stupid but it was also great at the same time it's like that's in nature with homer and so i thought it was again it was stupid but appropriate for homer and i appreciated that
Starting point is 00:09:18 i agree you know and freaking am man you watch these comedies we watch so many movies on this channel and like I said not most of them I feel like I either have some sort of notoriety or they're popular and I think that watching a movie like this is one of those movies that can really turn your day around just to give you guys a little insight not to go too far into details but you know we we had a little bit of a tricky time just a little bit before before filming this you know and we've we both came from our respective other jobs prior to come into this experience and it was a little frustrating trying to get through that process before filming but the fact that We were able to watch this movie, leave all of that out of the door and just have this pure experience with you guys.
Starting point is 00:10:00 It's just in a testament to, one, how fun this movie is, two, you know, the greatness that is The Simpsons. And three, how much we enjoy doing this for you guys. Because this is just, yeah, this brings us a lot of joy. Well, yeah, and sorry, I just want to make a point really quick. You remember how I said that Marge, the actress who plays Marge passed away, I think? Yeah. Completely wrong. So I just thought so.
Starting point is 00:10:23 I thought that would be bigger. Yeah, yeah, I'm going to hear about that in the comments because I'm sure many people probably didn't even make it to this point. So I'm sure we're going to hear about it in the comments, but I just wanted to point out that. Yes, thank you so much. But sorry that I got that wrong. For some reason, I thought I'd heard that she passed away, but I don't know why I thought that. I'm so sorry, continue. Let us know if you made it here.
Starting point is 00:10:41 You're a freaking rock star. Yeah, you are a rock star if you made it this far. Reject Nation, as a business owner, I'm actually terrible at tracking finances, believe it or not. It's something I work on a lot because I can be forgetting. I can have terrible oversight when it comes to tracking things. I'm sure you can understand the immense hatred that comes with the feeling of forgetting to pay for something or the feeling of consistently paying for something you forget to cancel or something that you just simply haven't thought about in a while, so you keep paying for it,
Starting point is 00:11:08 which is the same thing as what I just said. Anyway, that's why I started using Rocket Money about a year and a half ago, and that's today's sponsor. And it's always cool to be partnered with a product that you've already been using before you started doing a sponsorship with them because it makes it more natural. But seriously, Rocket Money has taken care of a lot of the thinking farming has been a massive lifesaver. Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money by canceling unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills. Rocket Money does the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending, then customizes notifications to help you stay within your budget goals. I was relieved to
Starting point is 00:11:37 know that over 74% of people, not 75, but 74 specifically, forget about subscriptions they do not use. I was paying for things I don't even remember subscribing to. Odds are with some free trial that I forgot to cancel. But one of the best things about Rocket Money is it finds those things It makes it effortless to cancel them. What I really love about Rocket Money's organization, it keeps everything in one place. Imagine seeing all your subscriptions with just a tap and being able to cancel the ones you don't want. It even compares your spending month to month so it's been able to help me stay on track with bettering my spending. And one of the great benefits, too, I can absolutely attest to this.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Rocket Money can also negotiate lower bills for you up to 20%. With over 5 million users and $500 million saved and canceled subscriptions, it's helped people on average save up to $740 a year. Stop wasting money on things you don't use like old Greg did. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash rejects. Once again, that's rocket money.com slash rejects. Help up your game and being financially responsible and reap the dang benefits, people. But yeah, I don't know why I thought I thought I heard that somewhere.
Starting point is 00:12:43 I'm glad she's still alive. Yeah, but I see your phone's out such means you probably have some facts to show. Did you want anything else or? I think I'm good for now. It's going to these facts. All right. Let's get into it. In the original script, Marge was going to have the vision in church.
Starting point is 00:12:56 However, it was changed when the crew felt it would make more sense for the family to be ignoring Grandpa than Marge. I agree with that. It felt way more appropriate to be ignoring the crampa over Marge. Because everyone would take March a lot more seriously than the father of Homer. I feel like Homer would have still ignored her. But, yeah, I think narratively is more funny. Yeah, no, no, Homer would have, but I feel like everyone else would have taken Marge more seriously
Starting point is 00:13:17 in that situation. Yeah, because he's like senile. Yeah. And also, too, Marge was trying to piece together what he was. trying to make sense of what he was saying Oh, true. Yeah, yeah. The script for the voice work was to be kept so secret that the producers
Starting point is 00:13:31 personally shredded the script after every voicing session. Oh, wow. That's insane. That's insane. I love it. Edward Norton originally recorded the part of the man who gets crushed by the dome using a witty Allen impression, but the crew felt the voice was too
Starting point is 00:13:47 distracting. So Dan Castanella Castellaneta re-recorded the dialogue with a different voice. It would have been interesting to hear. Edwin. At around 47 minutes, when the Simpsons arrive in Alaska, the Border Guard gives them $1,000 in exchange for the mining of Alaska's natural resources. This actually happens in real life,
Starting point is 00:14:12 though a citizen has to reside there for at least 12 months first. The Alaska Permanent Fund, which is funded by oil production and reds, revenue from other sources pays out an annual dividend to every eligible Alaskan resident where it began in 1982. Alaskans were paid $1,000. The amount varies from year to year based on the growth of the fund. Wow. When are we moving to Alaska, Aaron?
Starting point is 00:14:33 Okay. The state's bordering Springfield R, Nevada, Maine, Kentucky, and Ohio. This pays homage to the long-running joke in the Simpsons of not pinning down exactly where Springfield is located. That's funny. I love that. At around 18 minutes, Homer likes. pretend his pet pig is
Starting point is 00:14:51 Spider-Man. Marvel Comics actually published a comic book series about a pig version of Spider-Man in the early 19-80s. Yes, we do not. It was called Peter Porker, the spectacular spider ham, and featured animal versions of other Marvel comic characters. And has now been brought to life by
Starting point is 00:15:08 John Mullaney. It has been. Director David Silverman had Julie Cavner do over a hundred takes of Marge's lengthy, impassioned plea to Homer. That was my favorite part. Yeah. It was real. Kelsey Grammer, mini-driver, Isla Fisher, and Aaron Brockovich Ellis all recorded lines for the film, but their scenes were cut. I could see, I was thinking about Aaron Brockovich when she had the, and Lisa had them drinking the water and it was contaminated. I was about to say it was like, this really reminds me of Aaron Brockovich. Did you ever see that movie? No. Ooh, great, great, great, great movie. Julie Roberts won best actress for that film. You should definitely check that one out.
Starting point is 00:15:44 At around 10 minutes, comic book guy claims that EPA was the sound made by Green Lantern when Sinestro threw him into a vat of acid. Jeff John's writer of the Green Lantern comic book at the time was a big fan of this film and worked in EPA as a sound effect in the volume 4, issue 50,
Starting point is 00:16:02 during a duel between those characters. I'll do two more. Spider-Pig by Hans Zimmer reached number three after climbing from the 20s in the Irish music charts. At just over a minute is the shortest track, ever to make it to the Irish music charts and the UK got as far as top 20 all right
Starting point is 00:16:20 should we get to the spoilers one let's see wellies oh wow there's so many I'll just do one or two yeah just do a spoiler okay this one guy Marge claims that sequel is Maggie's first word during the end credits which is not true Maggie said her first word and Lisa's
Starting point is 00:16:36 first word 1992 and it was daddy but since no one was around and when she did say it is only natural that Marge assumes that this is her first word is sequel. Ah. Well, we knew that. We, yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Yeah. Big, big Simpson's family. Yeah, again, this movie was funny. It had heart. The physical humor and the slapstick was all great. And again, I liked all the things that, you know, grounded it in terms of real world with the environmental stuff, the traconian government stuff, all of that. So, you know, while you suspend disbelief in that shit, it kind of brings you back to reality
Starting point is 00:17:14 with the other stuff too and that's gravity what said hope there goes gravity oh yes exactly so um but yeah i really enjoyed it was a lot of fun i have to get back on watching the show at some point in the near future yeah yeah i'll have to peek at the simpsons every now and then too because this was hilarious had a lot of fun with this yeah guys let us know what you guys thought of the reaction or if you like this movie and if you like this movie and if you guys have any other thoughts opinions or any other animated movies adult or otherwise you want me an angel to watch but yeah that's it guys thank you guys so much for watching and hope you guys have a great rest of your day dozes if there was ever a bart simpson at our youtube channel it would be andrew hayes no matter how much time goes
Starting point is 00:18:00 on he always looks the exact same and remains the exact same height no matter what never a change since he was a little boy to his 30s. He looks exactly how he was produced. Short, stocky, Bart Simpson, troublemaker, high-pitched voice. There's no other Bart at our channel. Let's face it, you're the Bart Simpson, and plus you're kind of yellow. I don't mean that in a racist way. I mean that in the Simpsons way.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Yes. If you thought racist way, that's on you. And man, let's face it, Simpson's had a lot of trouble lately, and they're right, John. Simpsons has been in trouble. been canceled. They've had to have some actors stop doing voices for racist characters, and Andrew might be a little bit racist. You are a racist character. It's going down a different rabbit hole. And you're also voiced by a woman, so there you go. Are you trying to, we don't want to go after that community, John? Of people whose lives are voiced over us. I know what controversial
Starting point is 00:18:57 joke you're trying to make right now, but we don't want to do that. We're going to get a lot of trouble. And don't show us your doodle, all right, no matter what. John, please, what do you really trying to get us in trouble? I don't want it. We cancelling Andrew's one thing by canceling us as a whole other thing. Meet me in the tree house of horror, my guy.
Starting point is 00:19:15 And then you can show me your doodle. Oh, why are you going after the LGBT Q can be so much? I just can't resist the urge. I'm saying things they keep going after. There's such an easy target. Gee, which is one of the letters in LGBQIA plus.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Everything you keep saying. Have you a great streaming service. Streaming service? LGBTQ plus that's my favorite streaming service with all the gayest movies anyway Andrew what was your shout out about he's a sims he's a simpson you're a simson it's done
