Starting point is 00:01:02 More on them in just a bit. Loved it, loved it, loved it. They really did make me love that love story in such a short amount of time. Guys, if you are with us right now, if you're listening to our review on Apple, Spotify, don't forget to give us that five-star. If you're looking at our sweatshirts, it's Rejectnationshop.com. this is our spooky one this is our holiday one can't go wrong with either plus reject classic is there too called the she jack's crop as well classic baby mug all that good stuff uh terra yeah terminator this is fun what were your thoughts this is a lot of fun um yeah i recognize the silver
Starting point is 00:01:49 terminator uh from planet hollywood as well as the arnold part anyway uh where are you looking the i'm just looking away and I'm thinking I do that a lot um this is you this is me to you sorry I was like the terminator coming to get us let me know now please tell me if the terminator is coming I do that I do that so much to think okay continue could be might be um I really really like this movie I think mostly specifically from the writing from the top as soon as we get in to see those cops when he's like he, and he gets all flustered in deciding, like, you know, these glasses actually work. I loved that. It gave us that, that type of comedic pacing and tone to know, like, the writers know what we're doing here and that we're setting up characters in this world, and we're
Starting point is 00:02:43 going to move. Like, we understand pacing. The way that you can, like, tell in a film when you know that the pacing is probably going to be good is when delivery of dialogue from the top is good. It reminded me a little bit of Aaron Sorkin-sorkin-esque. I love a lot of Aaron Sorgon stuff, but this is James Cameron. Obviously, he's a beast in and of himself. That's interesting. And I think... Sorkin is the walk and talk, which we didn't really get much of,
Starting point is 00:03:08 but I understand what you're saying with the quality of the dialogue that was so specific to each character and the back and forth, I hear you. And the quick, like, kind of like a little quick, like pacing tone. They were kind of on top of each other, the cops. I liked that vibe. And it took me a second. I really loved how much we got to explore from at first seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger laying when he's naked and they were like, oh my God, is he an alien or what?
Starting point is 00:03:33 Are they both aliens? Are they fighting each other? They take us through this whole world and we established Sarah right off the bat. Again, great dialogue with her best friend, great chemistry. Ginger. Like so good, you know, like all of it. Even with the phone call, with the boyfriend, we needed that. We wanted to see Sarah living her life with Ginger.
Starting point is 00:03:54 laughing and like, who is this? Like, we see that she's a person and that's all we need it. We don't need like 10 pages, but we need something that the audience is going to relate to. And I think that's what these writers did. They did a really good job of having us relate to her, care about her and what's going on. So when we see her at the end, we're like, you are badass Sarah Connor. Yeah. Hell yeah. Let's roll. I agree. I think it's really cool because of the way that they set up the every girl in her. You know, she spills coffee on somebody's lap. She's a wait. Beatrice. She has a roommate. The roommate's the one with the boyfriend. She gets canceled on for her dinner date. Like all these things that make her a sympathetic character, but also just make
Starting point is 00:04:35 us see ourselves in her as kind of the every girl. And then to hear somebody from the future come back and be like, you raise a son. You teach him how to fight. You teach him to be strong. And that son pretty much essentially saves the planet. And so any one of, it's cool that any one of us, no matter what stage of life we're at now. If we knew, if somebody came to us and said 100% for a fact, you're going to help save the planet, maybe we would start, like, really having that confidence in ourselves to know, okay, who I am matters, what I do matters,
Starting point is 00:05:10 and I want to be the best version of me, and I want to wake up and fight every day. And I think that gave her the strength in the scene with the Terminator at the end, even after Kyle dies, it gives her the strength to keep pushing because she knows that she's got a greater purpose and if all of us can keep that in mind all the time any one of us could be the person
Starting point is 00:05:28 to invent something, save somebody, help somebody do something good for somebody else, whatever it is then you get that fight, that drive in you so that was really cool and I loved her character and then I really love Kyle's character it's so sweet he's got this picture of her he's just been in love with her forever he doesn't know that that's actually
Starting point is 00:05:45 he's going to go back and that's going to be his woman but he's just like it's his soulmate you know So I love the love story. I love the action. Not even to mention Arnie crushed it. No wonder after this. Everybody was like, yeah, he's an effing tank.
Starting point is 00:06:00 What a beast. Totally. So good. Yeah, this movie rocks. I hear the second one's even better. It's one of Greg's favorite movies of all time. He might even join us for this portion of it because he loves it so much he wants to talk about it all of the time. And I'm like, how could they top this?
Starting point is 00:06:18 Right. Bigger budget. probably yeah double double the budget if not triple it i also feel like this it's like the story of like a girl's love for like her falling in love actually brings her to the person who she's actually supposed to be which is sarah connor the badass but without her kind of falling for this guy in this crazy circumstance she never would have become that person yes so it's like love is bringing her there and I find that that very cool and I also think that in regards to the special effects and the stunts obviously they're working with everything practical from the beginning yes it's it's like
Starting point is 00:07:04 very cool miniatures very like you were saying Star Wars esk um but the miniatures I'm like I kind of miss those in movies those are I think they're they're great looking um I thought it looked really really awesome. And I like all the terms like HKs, Hunter Killers, and then we have the Terminators. It was cool that they tell us they put tissue and blood over them. And then finally we get it to see it all burned off and then he looks just like a cyborg. But the practical effects in this really did surprise me because it all looked good except for what I didn't like is when they pulled out on the Terminator and gave us the full body of him moving. I don't think we needed it.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I think we could have just stayed in the upper torso or the bottom. I would have been okay with it. But I understand why he would have wanted that. And at the time, because it's 84, it didn't look probably by comparison as all does it look now? Yeah, you're probably totally right about that. I bet you audiences were just as stunned of like, wow, this is very cool. And I thought when Arnold is in the truck and it's him and he has the eye and wow, I mean, great job special effects makeup in this great job with like stunts the fact that they only had
Starting point is 00:08:21 six million dollars and they they crashed a few cars we had some some chasing scenes in there a ton of weapons we're destroying a lot of things we had a few explosions this is a great ride this was shot 40 years ago so like yeah giving credit where credit is due on that you know totally like that that is wild to think about that's wild to think about that's wild to think about. Reject Nation interrupting this video to tell you that if you are looking for a fun and simple way to get into Daily Fantasy Sports, let me introduce you to prize picks. It's like the best. boss ever so what are you waiting for price fix run your game thank you for sponsoring this video because i feel like this is how i still picture arnie today like how is it possible if you it's crazy thing 84 isn't 20 years ago you know right so when i'm looking at that i'm thinking the same thing like why aren't you staying on the ecu why are we pulling back when you have this this money
Starting point is 00:10:34 shot and you pull back it doesn't look as good but by comparison 40 years ago that's wild you're looking at it and you're like this looks sick so yeah i i i i definitely give it a more leeway because if this movie came out today and those parts looked like that I'd be like oh come on brodie like there's no way you had to do that but because of for the time because of the budget because of what they were working with by comparison I'm totally cool with it yeah I also think to what you were talking about at the very top terror about like the stuff that they included even with all that extra good stuff where we're spending time with them and feeling good about, like, knowing our characters and feeling lived in, it still is only
Starting point is 00:11:15 a hundred three-minute movie. Right. So, like, you know, this did not waste our time. It wasn't like they added so much fluff in that this was well over two hours. This is an hour and 40-minute movie. So I'm good with that. I'm good that we got all that color in there. And in such a tight period of time, this is phenomenal work.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Linda Hamilton, you have my heart. Like, that was what a. performance you are an 80s icon and this is clearly why yeah amongst many other reasons um i know that a lot of you guys right now probably are like there's so much great trivia about this including something that terra mentioned during this like a comedian that she might have seen right or we had talked to gregg before i think he had said that o j simpson was supposed to have a role in this possibly and i really wish we could look at the trivia but we don't want to be watching terminator two very soon and i hear that there's
Starting point is 00:12:10 There's no way to look at the trivia and not be spoiled for that. So we're not going to look at any of it now, but I swear to you guys, if you tune in one week from today, there will be dropping Terminator 2, and we will be reviewing with trivia on that. So we'll get all that juice. If you are leaving comments, don't spoil any thing. Yeah, don't. Please don't. Actually, we'll have watched at that point by the time they're seeing this. Spoiler light.
Starting point is 00:12:34 We'll see. We'll see the next one. Yeah. And also, what's funny about the one, which is not a spoiler, is. what he said, he said, like, this role was originally meant for OJ, but they didn't think he was a killer enough. Yeah, they said he would never, the audience wouldn't believe him as a killer.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Ah! I thought that that's the best true I've ever heard in my entire life. Sorry, had to finish that, that little one. But, yeah, I mean, all in all, this movie was great from just the music and the set design. And I really, and I say this very often, which most of the time happens with indie films. this isn't necessarily an indie. I mean, Gray did prep us with like James Cameron really had to do a lot of footwork
Starting point is 00:13:17 and worked his butt off to get the financing for this movie so that he can make it the way he wanted to. Well, I think that's, it's still considered an indie terror because I think he said that it wasn't financed by studio, which would make an independently financed film. I think we haven't checked that. And I don't know if Greg double-checked that, so don't come for us, but keep on.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Yeah, that's true. which is why I always say if you look at a film and you see that it's written and directed by the same person as well as if that person is the producer or if the producer is also a co-writer, it tends to be a better film
Starting point is 00:13:51 and tends to most, that happens mostly in independent features where they don't get a lot of a budget but they hang on to their ideas more, they're more precious, they're saying, I don't want to give this away. Because when you give it to the higher ups, they start blabbing ideas
Starting point is 00:14:06 that they think are going to be good and they're the financiers and you have to say okay to them. So it's best not to attach yourself to a studio if you want it to be done the way you want it to be done. And I think that James Cameron for this being like his second film, hell yeah, dude, I realize why you are the James Cameron of our day with Terminator. And that seems like, I don't think it seems silly, but if we, a little bit when you're like the Terminator to think of all the other amazing things that he's done, I think, that this one shows truly like wow what a great filmmaker he is and with a limited budget and how the effects come off and how good it looks and that i was never ever stopped up by
Starting point is 00:14:51 any of the acting except for in the very beginning when the cop was like when he was like what day is it and the cop was like 12th may what i thought that was a little weird that didn't bother me. I thought he was surprised. Okay. Other than that, it just hit you a little funny. It hit me, it just hit me a little different. I thought all of the acting was amazing, and that part isn't going to make a film not good for me. I just kind of laughed at that. All of it, I thought, was directed really, really well, and it's a great film, really, from, really from start to finish, and especially to
Starting point is 00:15:29 leave us on the, what a great script, to leave us on the kid takes the frickin' picture. And we leave us on that picture. That is fun. That's a way to end a film. And it makes me really curious about what in the heck is Terminator 2 about. Right. Exactly. Are we going to war?
Starting point is 00:15:50 Are we seeing the war that they say is to come? We must, right? We must be with. Or does he put himself back together and try to take her down again? Dude, what if it's like a Chucky situation? I know. Like we cut to like. He's in the next.
Starting point is 00:16:06 next one i know but like oh my god what if it's somebody finding the terminator and putting you back together like in chucky and then i don't know he goes he gets back out there because he's the only old school terminator of his time or something i don't know well we i don't know man to find out terrah any final thoughts on this movie no this this was a lot of fun i'm really glad that we're we're watching this and i'm just this was a blast all right i'm gonna give it one more shot are you ready yeah i'll be back Way better than what you The beginning was I'll be
Starting point is 00:16:38 back I'm gonna keep practicing She's really grown Give me as much leeway as I gave The strange seeing the full Cyborg in the silver I appreciate it And we'll see you guys for Terminator 2
Starting point is 00:16:51 Later Rejects McKeale Lyndon If there's anyone at our Patreon page Who is like Kyle Reese Yeah It's definitely McHale Linden, rugged
Starting point is 00:17:06 hero. Except swap out Sarah Connor. Uh-oh. James was. Yes. Yes. And it's always like, James. James. We're here to save you, James. You don't understand.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Your life's in danger. Blowfield's always going to come through you, James. You got to lay off the martinis. That's McAil. That's McCale. Every month. trying to encourage the next bond actor how to handle being the next that's what you
Starting point is 00:17:40 you should you should be a James Bond consultant you should be the man they hire when they when James Bond is hired and they have to deal with the inevitable backlash of being James Bond that you will be the guy who's there to coach them through the history of backlashes yeah of everyone that happened after I mean even I think Sean Connery was even backlashed after me in flaming yeah they they drove uh george lazenby off the internet you know they did they did they did he had to put up on instagram i'm gonna i'm gonna deactivate my can't the sake of my mental health i was like damn it damn i can't bully george lazenby anymore remember those days mikhail were good days those are good days anyway um i hope for christmas
Starting point is 00:18:28 that you get um james bonds falling parachuting down over A wave. A water tidal wave for you. A Bond Brigade. How cool would that be, man? How cool would that be? Oh, think of it. A Santa sleigh pulled by eight tiny bond deer.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Oh, dude. And then a Bond women. A bond, yes. Bond girls. Bond girls. And then, you know, a Santa James Bond. And we all know the names of all them. Of course.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I could name eight bond women. Let's go. Name them now. And how many of them are appropriate to say the names of what you. Terry Hatcher. Yeah, Terry Hatcher one. That Michelle Yo one. The Michelle Yo won.
Starting point is 00:19:08 That jinx one. The jinx one, Halle Berry. That Russian chick. That, oh, Femke-Gensen. Nah, she wasn't a Bond girl. No, she wasn't a villain. Oh, yeah, that's right. Is that other girl Russian?
Starting point is 00:19:17 Don't remember that movie that well. Wasn't Denise Richards in one? Pussycat doll. Yeah. Denise Richards, which is what she was called in the movie. That's right. Don't come at me. D. Nice.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Vespers. Vesperlind. Let's go Vesperlind. We like a Vesperlind here. And his wife. Yes, his wife. His wife back home. His wife with the child who's going to grow up to be the new Bond.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Oh, that would be cool. We wait all that time for that actor to grow up, and then that actor just takes the reins. It's like the boyhood of bonds. I hope to God. James Boyhood. I want James Boyd. Boy. Bondhood.
Starting point is 00:20:01 I want it. I want Bondhood. played by Daniel Craig, an older Grando Craig. Yeah, he's sages from being a regular middle-aged guy to being an old man in real time. It's so good. He's in queer. I love
Starting point is 00:20:15 that idea. Oh, my God. You get to watch. Who this person... That would be so subversive because the Daniel Craig movies, they took Bond and they were like, we're going to make this gritty. We're going to give him more of a backstory. We're going to give him more history, more, you know, entanglements. And then here, we can see that in, like, the most granular
Starting point is 00:20:31 fashion possible. dude amen to that sister just like growing up with his dad getting music advice and like learning how to date and then eventually some tragedy happens to his family to drive him to a life of international espionage yeah sweetenie but you bring bond back to being a hard drama so uh happy new year mcale love you buddy
