With Monster: The Ed Gein Story releasing on Netflix, it's time for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) reaction, recap, commentary, analysis, & spoiler review! Directed by Marcus Nispel (Friday the 13th remake, Pathfinder), this Michael Bay reboot of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic reimagines Leatherface and the Sawyer family in a modern, terrifying way. Starring Jessica Biel (The Illusionist, Total Recall), Jonathan Tucker (The Ruins, Kingdom), Erica Leerhsen (Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Wrong Turn 2), Mike Vogel (Cloverfield, The Help), and Eric Balfour (Skyline, Six Feet Under), with R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket, Se7en) as the menacing Sheriff Hoyt, the film became a cult horror phenomenon despite mixed reviews. Popular scenes include Jessica Biel running through the slaughterhouse, Leatherface’s chase with the chainsaw, the infamous meat hook sequence, and the grim ending in the police car footage. Iconic quotes like “Welcome to Texas, motherf***er!” and “My family’s always been in meat” cement this as one of the most infamous remakes in horror history. With Netflix spotlighting Ed Gein’s real-life influence and Leatherface being one of horror’s most enduring villains, it’s the perfect time to revisit The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). So let's do this.
Texas Chainsaw Masker, 2003, commencing in
three, two, and a one.
All righty, that was the 2003
reboot.
sequel, remake, something of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Thank you so much for joining us.
We appreciate it.

dedication as always also if you are listening on apple or spotify please give us a five star
rating we would really appreciate it what do you guys think should we go into feelings should we
go into questions you you tell me because you guys are like in charge around here and i'm just
all right we'll do that's fine all right you does not want to do that jaden roads uh what do y'all
think of let's see if i can pronounce the name right here once in my freaking life what do you
all think of R. Lee
Erme?
Did I say, okay, one time, yay, me.
Arley Ermey as the sheriff.
I think he does a fantastic
job. He is really creepy
to watch. Agreed.
Yeah. Perigree. Phenomenal actor.
I believe in everything. He was gnarly.
He was creepy.
It's not a proper sheriff.
Didn't like what he did
to those people.
They deserve better.
Shout out to his eyebrows.
I don't know.
He did a great job.
I don't know what you guys were talking about.
I thought he was a great sheriff.
He, like, went through procedure.
He did everything completely properly.
I would definitely want him watching over my town.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
And he had total respect for the dead.
And, yeah.
No, he did a phenomenal job.
He always brings Arlie Ermi.
I think we watched him in full...
We did watch him in Full Metal Jacket.
And I've seen him in Saving Silverman.
I can't remember what else I've seen him.
Anyways, the point I'm trying to...
articulate here is that that he always brings energy and intensity to every scene it does not matter
what the context of the film is and i always appreciate that in his performances and in this film
he really in a film that was very unsettling like he's specifically like he's not leather face
but he sent him real chill down my spine every moment i was watching him and even from the getco
like you had this very i mean you had this distrustful distrustful
feeling towards everyone, I feel like, around this town, but specifically him. And he's like the one you're
supposed to try. He's the cop, the sheriff. So like the way he was able to like pull you in as an
audience member and like, oh, something is really off about him. I thought was like a, really a
testament to his performance, I feel. So really good job. Thank you so much for the question.
I think we also have another one from Jaden Rhodes. Question number two. I'm curious how you all
compare it to the original film.
I don't think the movie is as good as that movie,
but it's still a fun movie. This question is
clearly not for me, so I'll let either of you
to duke it out over this. Go ahead.
If we're, this question is purely
about comparing the two.
I think I think the original one
is more effective.
Primarily being is
ironically, the original
one made in the 70s is way more
disturbing than this movie was.
I remember when Tara and I finished
that movie, we're both shook. We're just like, we need
like a shower.
Yeah.
We just need a day.
Now you just need a bath.
Yeah.
This one felt more like it still did the Texas chainsaw thing, but it felt more akin to like
early 2000 slasher's with the with the template of Texas chainsaw with like the family
and then go into like the rest off and then him.
They still did all the things, but the images they showed in the original were a lot more creepy.
There's a lot more holding of the tension of the creepy things.
and you just felt a greater sense of dread
because I remember at one point
there is something that happens at a table
and then people are talking
if you remember what I'm talking about
Oh yeah
So yeah and then just the way that it ends
You're like oh my God
It's terrifying
It was terrifying but you know this one's
I don't think of fun is the right word
But yeah I think for my own experiences
I think there was no one is still better
I mean I had fun when I was watching her like take out
bad guy or almost take his arm off and then run over the cop that i thought that was fun but
what about you yeah this movie was fun i thought that jessica beale this is like one of the
the better performances that i've i've seen her in it's crazy that she went from seventh heaven
till being like horror star um and i really believed her in this in this role and i thought that
this movie was fun i didn't like that the characters weren't written as smart as i would
like them to be like grab a freaking weapon come on now but um the first one hands down is one of the
most terrifying mental fuck with you types of films i have ever watched in my entire life yeah
this does not compare this was effed up totally gross stuff that they pulled some little
callbacks locations nope go to the go to the first one
and you won't sleep at night.
I'll tell you that much.
That original one is borderline of snuff film.
Really, really selling me on wanting to watch that film,
especially in my current emotional state and traumatic stage.
I should really check out that original one.
Just meet home and check it out.
All right.
I definitely will.
Thank you so much, guys.
Thank you for the question.
That was from Jaden Ruds.
We appreciate it.
Thank you for being a real reject.
Who is next?
Tara Aaron.
Do you guys read that?
Oh, my, ha, ha, ha, ha, 402.
Tide to be my favorite leatherface adaptation.
aside from the film leather face 2017 who was your favorite character from the film and why jessica beale
uh and the reason being besides it's jessica beale um i just i like the the slow peel uh the the slow reveal
rather of her backstory i like the humanity uh the humanity in her character like yes like we although
she's in a horror film and like probably not making the smart decision and having compassion and
empathy for the situation like picking up a hitchhiker and all that but i i think that gives the
character depth and like you know she's just a good human being and i like resonated with her
because i might do the same thing and maybe unfortunately that might cost me in my life if i were
in a horror movie situation but also when i say like i like how the film slowly peeled out the
the backstory of her like when it came to oh wow she was in juvie so i'm like this is kind of a
little bit of a cathartic feel for her she feels like she's making up for her
past sins, whatever that may be.
I don't know, but I like how they're leaving that ambiguous.
And, yeah, I just really liked her character a lot.
Whereas some of the other characters, again, they were fine.
I had no issues with them.
We're a little more on the simplistic side where I thought she had a little more depth.
Yeah.
I'm going to go with Pepper because she's the only one not about it from the jump and she wanted
to get out of there and no one was listening to her.
And they all died because of it.
So Pepper.
Okay.
Love it.
I'll just go with that random weird girl that has.
had her head shaven who stole the child.
She was real creepy.
Did a good job.
Are you trying to tell us something, Tara?
That I'm going to shave my head and steal a baby?
Yeah.
No.
Okay.
Just making sure.
Not at all.
But that's cool if you want to.
I'll support you no matter what we're friends, you know.
Okay.
All right.
Residence Z.
Thank you for the question, man.
Tara, Aaron, Andrew.
Hope you enjoyed the Frights and Kills.
Speaking of kills.
Which one was your favorite from the movie?
Great question.
actually saw this version before the original so it'll hold a special place in my heart
even if the original one is better um i have mine do you what terrah do you have yours or do you
want to think about it for a sec um no i think i think the kill uh i like when she ran him over but i do
like oh that's a good one when she took the butcher knife and she kept going the thing i hate the
most is when they're like me and then they run and i'm like come the frick on so that i'd have
just say.
Okay, Tara beat me.
Those are, I should have gone with those ones.
I was going to say just for horror effect, the one where he took out his privates,
I just thought that was grotesque and awful as a male.
Yeah.
Oh, God.
Yeah.
If he did somehow survive, which I know he didn't, he'll never be able to use the bathroom
the same or enjoy the pleasures of life.
So like that.
Did he kill him when he did that?
I assume he did.
If he didn't, that guy probably Morgan, he would probably want to not be alive.
So I just meant for.
you know dramatic and horror effect like that one was the worst one in my opinion but what about you
aaron that's that's tough um they take all the good ones well that that one how about him that one
how about him wearing the face of the um that's not a kill i know but he's wearing his face that's
disgusting i will say on a different type of energy when she went uh when erin had to kill her friend
because he was a mercy kill.
That's a good one.
Reject Nation, at the start of this year, I was sitting in over 20% body fat, 218 pounds.
I was end of January as of a couple weeks ago.
Finally took the photos I've been talking about it all year.
I completed the mission.
Six-pack abs came in, 8% body fat, 170 pounds.
You could check out all the transformations on Instagram, but that's not why I'm here today.
I'm here today to tell you that a big part of how I accomplished that journey was about staying consistent.
with my nutrition.
And the best way to do this is by keeping things simple,
like having a hughal black edition ready to drink a complete meal in a bottle.
Have these a couple times a week.
That first crack.
It's always amazing.
It's a full meal in a bottle packed with 40 grams of protein.
27 vitamins and minerals, slow release carbs, low sugar, no prep, no cleanup.
Just shake it and go.
I've got a fridge full of these.
We got three fridges and they're all full of them.
I'd like to grab them on shoot days, gym days, or I'm just too damn tired to cook.
which is an often Greg thing.
But more importantly, they taste good.
Chocolate and vanilla.
Classics are my go-toes.
Smooth taste like actual milkshake.
But they got a whole bunch of other flavors
you can catch on their website.
Plus, it's under three bucks a meal.
Which has helped my gains and my budget.

the nutrition try heal today for complete nutrition well time gregg bottled she was trying to be
compassionate even she didn't want to do it so that'll be my favorite kill good one here
love that that wasn't his favorite but he had to go choose something let's move on all right
leon three thank you for being a royal reject asking a question we appreciate it do you all prefer
the grady low budget realism and documentary style of the original or the more mainstreamed
hollywood vibe of the remake again feel like we've already answered oh gee oh oh yeah oh
Okay, I guess that answers the question.
Leon 3, we appreciate the question.
Thank you so much.
And then Leon 3, we have another...
Excuse me, we have another question from you.
Does this think Leon 3's is three questions?
Oh, maybe that's what it is.
You always have to do things in threes, right?
What do you all think of this new, brutal take in Leather Face?
The main criticism is that apparently, they turn the character into a generic horror brute,
while the original was a little complex since he was afraid.
of his family and it wasn't common for him to get abused by them.
That's a very interesting point because I didn't see the original so I don't have any
context. I just, the only thing I know about this character and you guys correct me if I'm
missing anything, he had a skin disease. He seemed like he was very lonely besides the fact
he had his family around him and that's the extent of, and he likes wearing people's skin
because of his skin disease. That's all I know about him. Now, sometimes in horror films,
I don't need to know too much. I'm like, okay, he's evil.
doing shit and that's it but yeah definitely would have i would have liked just a little bit more so
but again not having any context of the original it's i definitely felt there was a tiny bit missing
so i can totally understand that point what about you guys um i felt like this one was a little bit
missing in that regard because yeah i feel like the other one you get a you get that greater
sense of this family dynamic and he's uh not all cognitively there and the this the way the movie
kept up the tension of of him in relation to his family and then the way they built up
what was actually going down over the course of the movie um yeah that's just a part of the
question but yeah i think that the other one was more scary because he felt more realistic
whereas this one literally got his arm cut off and he's still going after he has his leg cut
and his arm cut off yeah and he's still going after them so it was like all right this guy is
like some semblance of supernatural
Yes.
But yeah, that's my answer.
He's a Michael Myers meets Leather Face.
Yeah, baby.
Yeah, I think the one thing that I liked about the newer leather face is just he's fast as fuck.
And so when you see him running with the jane saw and you're like, oh, my God, he's definitely going to catch up.
And it's scary as hell when you catch him on camera.
He's fast.
And that's like the one joke that me and Ratsu will make when we watch all the Halloweens, Michael Myers.
He's slow as all get up.
but like it's there's always a supernatural with all these fuckers he's so slow but we're running for
five minutes and whoop there he is um totally and this kind of happened with him a little bit because
once you got to the meat place there he was right but that that just makes like a fun fun horror
and if we know that he's still kicking around and let's pretend we got another one he doesn't have
an arm that's fun yeah but um i i see his other question like
the original will we react to those?
Me and Aaron actually already did,
which is why we've said we like that one better
because it does have more depth
and more, uh, really
just like basis of story
which freaks you out
mentally so that the images
that you see, they don't even
have to do that much.
You peek at it and you're like, I'm terrified.
Right. Like that's how
it fucked with you. This is a little different.
Yeah. I, I mean,
I totally agree with you. The, the Michael
Myers meets Leatherface. I also feel like, too, it's kind of Michael Myers meets Jason
Voorhees a little too. But, you know, Tara and Aaron, I'm having a weird like picture in my head
and I kind of said this while we were reacting. The way he was running, I just like, I'm just
imagining in a weird alternate universe leather face with the chainsaw running in like a track
marathon or something like because he's so fast. I think that'd be like a wild like little short
documentary if someone made that. You're making up sketches in your head, huh? Andrew? I am. I think
I think that'd be fun to watch.
Yeah.
Just him running with a chainsaw super fast and beating everyone else.
And he's like, I did it with a chainsaw.
I'm playing the Benny Hill music as they do it.
Running up the hill.
I want to see that.
Was that our last question?
I think that was our last question, guys.
So Aaron appears is looking up rotten tomatoes is my guess because I know my real roomie really well.
Let's do it.
Okay.
So for contrast, I either tell you or give you the original.
Or are you asking for the OG versus the original.
Let me guess the OG, which I've never freaking seen.
I'm going to go 78% and 84%.
Okay.
Wait, which and which?
Are we doing the original or the new one right now?
You're saying critics.
Oh, 78 critics and 84 audience for the original, which I've never seen.
I will go Critics, 85, audience, 92.
Okay.
Critics, 84.
Okay.
And audience is 82 for the OG.
For someone who didn't see it, that wasn't a bad guess.
Now, for the new one.
Critics for the new one, I'm going to go 48%.
Okay, that's low.
It is.
I just feel like I know critics a little bit on horror films back in the early
2000.
I'm going to go 48% audience.
I'm going to go 69%.
48, 69.
I'll do critics 66 and audience.
74.
Critics, 37.
I was close. I was close.
Very low. Okay.
And audiences 58.
What did I say 48 and what?
69?
I said 48 and 69. What was the audience?
I said 69.
58. I was so close to.
I was like, I will say that that makes a little bit of sense.
I was a little more aware of time than I wanted to be in a horror movie.
I felt it in the end.
Exactly.
Yeah, look, I get that they were.
were building up suspense too but there were and i was enjoying the film granted i don't have the
context of the first one but there was moments where i was like slightly is dragging a bit yeah it's
crazy because this one is hour and 35 it's the o g hour in 23 minutes yeah so good this felt like
if you all haven't watched the ogy go watch it with me and aaron it's on the channel we watched it a while
ago but this this was still a fun horror yeah yeah anyways guys uh i'm sure there's other uh what
Texas Chainsaw Massacre films in the franchise.
If you do want us to react to it,
let us know.
We'd love to hear your thoughts.
What do you think of this film?
And if you stayed with us this long,
we really appreciate you.
Stay safe.
Make sure you grab weapons if you go into a horror situation.
Otherwise, Tara will get on you.
So please do that.
And take care.
