I have been wearing this for 10 days straight.
I cannot tell because it's so crisp and so clean.
I know.
I've had to wash it multiple times because I worked out in this thing, too.
I didn't want to take it off.
Also, if you can't see it from there,
there's this little cult of Sheeject's heart on the back.
It's our little logo.
This thing is my baby, and I love it, and I'm so proud of her.
And I hope you guys imprint all over her.
Yes, that is the segue.
Roll that bumper.
Oh, wow, man.
Wait, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
We wait, we, we, wait, wait.
Wait, we got Green Day now.
Wait, wait.
This is who I expected to be the end credit song.
I'm so sad.
I know.
We've done it.
We've completed the journey.
I know.
All right.
Okay.
All right, okay.
No.
All right.
Don't turn Billy Joe down.
Just to hear.
Okay, a couple things, because we got to talk about it.
You want to talk about it?
Let's talk about it.
Before we talk about it, if you are on Apple or Spotify, make sure you give us those five stars.
Also, don't forget, it's the sweater of the century.
Even if you were a vampire, it would still be cool in a hundred years.
Oh, yeah.
Rejectnation shop.com, cult of shejects on the back with that logo.
This is my baby.
I'm obsessed.
Get sparkling in your own today.
We've got cool colors, man.
So many people played Renzman.
She played with six people.
Really?
Yeah, I think it was all the babies that they see G'd heads on to.
The one little girl who's had they see Ged onto a grown woman.
So before, I guess, before we get to even this movie specifically, you and I are two, the last people I've ever met to have not seen this entire saga.
Yeah.
how do you what is the initial feeling now that we just finished the fifth movie we have now
seen all of the twilight saga how are you feeling it's weird i i want more still
this is funny i never expected really to want to like spend more time in this world but uh yeah
i don't know here at the end of it all like you know this certainly seems like the saga
of their happily ever after going from you know the the early stages of right
romance all the way through all this craziness.
I mean, I feel like I'm satisfied here in this moment.
There are certainly, I feel like the high point of the series in terms of just the
films themselves for me is still number three in terms of the whole package
kind of coming together.
So you like me go eclipse, then the first one, then this one, and then the second one, and then
in the fourth one.
Yeah, the same.
Yeah, absolutely.
I felt like we had the same feelings
about each movie throughout the entire thing.
What was hot?
What was not?
What was weird?
What was quirky?
Like, what was action-packed?
What was CG?
What was green screen?
What looked really cool?
What was a sick shot?
What was good dialogue?
What was silly?
Like, we just were on the same page.
And that's interesting because I know a lot of people watch these after the fact.
And because they didn't have it in that moment,
it's easy to kind of like dump on.
But I really enjoy.
enjoyed this entire thing as a whole.
And I do think to your, what you just said, I feel satisfied.
But I feel satisfied, period.
I also do think this completely lends itself to a sequel.
It's just more story.
Like, it doesn't even have to be Edward and Bella.
Like, it could be.
But their kid.
Their kid.
And good old Jake.
And then, like, we keep hearing, like, the, we don't need to fight today.
Like, the Voluntory didn't go anywhere.
It certainly felt.
like they did that as a just in case.
Yeah. But I did think that that was brilliant because you know I'm a prediction queen.
And usually I clock those things like when somebody, you know, when I'm watching Nightmar
on Elm Street with Tara and somebody falls asleep and then you see something.
I always know immediately. I'm like, they're asleep. I know they're asleep right now.
For this, when she takes his hand, she's like, let me show you. You would think that me or you would
have had an inkling that that wasn't real. As there's such a perfect device for that.
cell because it would only make sense that yeah you might be able to see the premonition of him
not accepting the vision and then leading to this battle and it's i think that is an example of a
truly conscientious decision right that's like great fake out we can have our cake and eat it too
we get a whole ass battle we get the yeah because we needed the battle it's a twilight movie we needed
the battle we needed to see it we needed to see carlyle's head completely off we need to see like
so many of the people we loved past
and I was just thinking like wow
but it was still believable because you know who didn't
die Edward. Yeah.
When he goes down and then he comes out, I just think
the way they shot that when we get the reveal
that it was just in, she was just showing him.
I was like, wow, y'all got me.
Like that was a movie moment
that I really would have been fascinated
to behold in a theater.
Because yeah, because like that.
Yeah, hearing the, yeah.
And then the like, what?
Wait, what?
You know?
Like, yeah.
And part of me was thinking at the outset, like, oh, wow, maybe they're not going to fight.
And then, you know, Alice steps up and I'm like, oh, wow, maybe they're really not going to fight.
And then, you know, it's within the character.
I think that's it, too.
It's like, it's well within the Volturi as we've seen them represented up till now to be like, but we don't know.
I mean, like, we might as well to still do what we're going to do partially as a means of not looking foolish, but also because, you know, I believe that they would be like, well, you know,
know it's uncharted territory and we should stick to what we know and we should exterminate
now and and i think it's the appropriate kind of story movie etc to to yeah break our hearts
with the prospect that all these people might jump into battle and die and see how willing they are
i think it's like it speaks to the the will and the emotion of the you know bonds of the characters
how far we've come all these wolves and vampires are willing to fight for edward bella their
child after so much debate and resistance but then also we get the salvation of like
nobody really needs to fight today yeah yeah and everybody does get their happy ending for now
okay let's talk about the elephant in the room because we can't talk about these movies
without this was the movie that was pitched as a love triangle but she just loved one of them
more yeah then we found out last movie about the imprinting and we were like
What?
Questions.
And then the, everybody said, they will explain it.
And they kind of did.
And what the explanation is, he could, is that, yeah, yeah, he could not.
I don't feel like they fully explained, but they addressed it.
He could not help it.
He is imprinted on her, and this will one day be his lover.
Yeah.
How are you feeling about Jacob by the, and Renez-May, by the end of this movie?
the thing about that is that for so much of the time it seemed like they were aware and constantly making concessions to the idea that like hey it's not what you think I'm not like attracted to your infant slash toddler slash young child daughter but then at the end it does seem like that is what's up so like it I still have questions in that I'm like
Like, I get it if it's part of, like, if, from what little I understand about the animal world, you know, it's like, you know, mothers and babies can imprint and it's sort of like, oh, yeah, like, I recognize you as my protector and or my, my, you know, baby, my progeny and, you know, will engage in the act of, like, you know, protecting and nurturing each other.
So, like, in that respect, I get it and I'm kind of neat.
I'm fine with that.
it's the part where like I feel like it is muddy the way they address the whole like does this mean he's like literally just going to wait around until she's you know of some acceptable configuration that they can get together age is that at what age is that like 18 but what does it mean if she matures fully seven years yeah and like is she physically matured then or just emotionally matured then just yeah so many follow-up questions also on top of that like you know okay people are not going to be
happy that I'm going to say this, but I'm going to say it to anyway.
Oh, people are really not going to like I said this.
I want you guys remember I really like the movie.
Let's hear it.
No, no.
The Twilight fans, they can, they, I feel like people are willing to accept that there is a
certain level of, again, I think part of what makes these movies what they are is that
we're flirting with a lot of different lines.
Let me just say it.
Let me say it.
A little bit of danger, a little bit of problematic.
I think it's part of the soup.
What's the one thing that psychologists, psychiatrists have figured out.
about pedophiles that it can't be changed because it's in them you can change your actions but
you can't change your desires sure this is giving that where he's like i couldn't help it and it's
like just because you couldn't help it doesn't mean that we're cool in it like i do have yes you know
what i mean and i'm not saying it's the exact same thing and it's not like he's hitting on her as a
kid but like they play it like at least at the moment it's not a romantic thing at all but he said then why do we end with should i call you dad but then but that is exactly contradictory to that or at least i guess they're and then we see them all four on the beach together i'm like yeah what is the what is this because yeah what what it appears as is that yes jacob is committed to protecting her has some kind of love for her but has been for again he says like
Like, it's not what you think.
It's not the creepy thing.
But then at the end, I feel like that's a direct contradiction to that.
It's basically confirming, like, yeah, once she's of age, I'm in love with her.
We're going to be together.
Yeah.
What's also, yeah, yeah.
It's also weird because Bella was not always pregnant.
And so when he says, like, do you want me around right now?
She's like, no.
And he's like, yeah, three days ago you did.
That's because who was inside you.
But the egg was always inside Bella.
but the fetus was not always inside Bella so what was up with Bella then hooking up with him
well you know but that wasn't Renez May no you know no that was that was that was their entanglements
and stuff like that I feel like the Renez may stuff doesn't come into play until the egg is fertilized
and we have the debate about when life begins it's like I almost have to and when does vampire life
begins a whole different question when this half breed life begins I almost have to
to like forget about the Jacob imprinting thing because I loved this franchise and when I think
too much about that it's so like I have so many follow-up questions it's weird because on the
one hand you're like I could imagine a point of view where you're like everyone's protective
of their kids especially their daughters and so like well if she's got to be with anybody
it's somebody we trust and it's far down the line and maybe in some weird way they're like
cool that's fine this is fine
it is strange
and they also have to acknowledge it saved their
kids life it totally did and it brought
the wolves around like it was a very strategically
helpful thing to have happened I'm glad that the wolves
came back into the picture
I'm glad that you know we
we got to see him reunited with Seth
and Leah and Sam and all of the wolves
that we because I thought that Jacob was
going to lose them forever but that's his
family so I'm glad
that that worked out I'm glad that the
We're leaving the vampires and the wolves more sympathico, like closer, at more peace.
I'm confused on what Sam, not Sam, what Daddy, what's Daddy's name?
Have you forgotten?
What's his name?
Mustash Dad's name.
Have you forgotten Mustache Dad's name?
Do you know it?
It's my favorite character.
Of course, I know it.
Okay, what is the name?
I might.
You know what?
Once we finish this, I am ordering a Team Charlie T-shirt.
for the both of us
and I'll make you wear it.
Were you stalling just now or did you know it?
I know.
I would never forget Charlie's name.
I'm not messing with you.
I am offended right now.
He is the best character.
Yeah, I love Charlie.
But I'm also of questions about what does Charlie think is happening?
I am curious too.
I feel like there were...
There's my grandkid.
She's so old now.
I'm like, did they sell him?
This is the most I felt during one of these movies
like scenes were cut.
There were a couple transitions
especially.
Which is one book,
two movies.
I know.
We lost a lot.
And this one caps at just under two hours,
which kind of surprised me because I was like,
oh, they'd probably go like two and a half for their front of course.
Two, 20. Yeah.
Something like that.
And with Charlie,
I don't know.
I almost feel like they counted or they banked on the idea that like,
well, he gets the primer for the fact that wolves exist.
unclear about vampires I guess and I wonder if they know nothing about vampires he
hasn't even heard of that yeah at least as far as we overtly saw here you know there
it's all that stuff about like just trust me get everything anything you need to know I'll tell you
and I don't know if they were just like we swapped out our adopted child for a new one or if
they're just like hey one of the things you're going to have to look past is the fact that it's
been like three days and this kid's like eight years old now so like he's like you grew like six
inches it's like i mean charlie got like a love interest off screen they're having christmas all together
suddenly off screen but on screen like yeah i feel like it's not the point so i can't hold it too
heavily against the movie but also i wish that some of that had been clarified because too i like
the debate around her relationship with charlie and what becomes of that and i liked that whole
thread of conflict where jacob is like no he deserves to know i'm gonna go
tell him and or at least not go tell something and again it's not the point of these movies
part of me wishes they had done a little bit more of like here's how we will have charlie kind
of privy to some of this and how we'll have a relationship and yada yada yeah yeah kind of what
you're saying like it's not the point i think a lot of things aren't the point and as long as i
don't think of anything that isn't the point then i'm just going to stay in a place of bliss with
this sure sure yeah because yeah it's definitely one of those where you're supposed to just be like
it was sexy and fun and vampy and wolfy and the music is bomb and it's i loved the way it was
lit and the editing is cool and um the effects are sick the wolves look better and better every movie
but i think i saw it was 2012 okay sure it's yeah 20 teens of some variety let me tell you some stuff
about this movie now that we can finally look things up without spoilers you keep going please yeah
the wolves look good i kind of wish in some ways they kept david's laid on hand just because i think these
the last two certainly did a good job of still when it was time for steam and romance kind of accentuating those in the way that I think a teen romance pitched at teen and tween girls is supposed to you know just like the way you capture that stuff I wish maybe this movie actually was the most I think I was sitting there noticing the effects because yeah especially in the fight at the end the fight the all the green screens the vampires it
Like, the vampires running as an effect on its own across these five movies has looked different
every time.
And I thought it probably looked the best in the third movie.
It looked okay in the last movie.
This movie, I was like, whoa.
A, why are you all running at each other at normal human pace while you're fighting?
Yeah, that was weird.
And also, B, when they all, like, sprint away or like when Bella's at home and it's like,
whoa, Bella, you know, you've got to charge down your power for when Charlie's here.
I'm like, she's been walking around just fine.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
She's all of a sudden unable to control her super speed.
But maybe what they were trying to say is that's the way that we're seeing it,
but that's not what's actually happening.
Like, maybe it was like their version of slow-mo.
I could imagine that, but we need, we would need better visual rules.
Totally.
I have a lot of things to tell you.
Please.
A lot of things tell you.
And a lot about the babies, which you and I have both of that questions about.
I need to know.
So let me tell you that's to start.
Besides McKenzie Foy, 10 actresses portrayed the rapidly growing Renez May Cullen as well,
as well as a CGI animated baby.
both an animatronic baby and three-week-old babies were used in the film.
Kristen Stewart preferred working with the real babies because she felt they helped her give a better performance.
Who to thunk?
This baby doesn't weigh like 75 pounds and isn't worrying.
To protect McKenzie Foy on set, Bill Condon set up a swear jar where any casting crew members caught swearing or uttering profanities were fined on the
spot the amount collected from the jar was donated to st jude's children hospital damn they must
have collected a lot think or they must have given a very meager donation this is interesting every
song that appeared in the film and on this soundtrack is original and written specifically for the
film damn is that true uh that must be increasingly true across the movies because there are certain
tracks like that dead weather song that black keys song at one point like were were not album
cuts for any of them.
So, like, I bet they, they, we've heard some recognizable songs across these, but I bet
they commissioned as many as they could as they went on.
This one, I, makes sense that I wouldn't have expected.
The film had a $120 million budget making it the most expensive Twilight installment.
Interesting.
Not, despite, yeah.
Not what I would have guessed.
Despite being a fan favorite for diehard fans of the movie last and the novels, the technology
used to show Renasmese's rapid growth is still heavily criticized years later.
Who?
What?
By who?
Not by us.
Who?
I can't imagine.
I do.
There has been, I think, in the last decade, 15 years, I feel like more and more just like
weirdness, uncanny valiness around how we portray babies and children in movies.
Let me ask you this.
How much do you think that this movie grossed?
Worldwide.
I'm going to say $920 million.
Okay, you shot over, but $830 million.
Okay, so I knew it wasn't a billion, but I figured it must be very high.
I mean, that is...
They made their money back.
That is so much money.
But I guess it probably doesn't look as expensive, but was because everyone probably got a massive payday.
Like the amount of people they had on hand for this.
Okay, a major plot point of Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 are Bella and Edward becoming parents.
In real life, Jackson, Rathbone, who plays Jasper, became a father between the premieres of the two films where his son, Monroe Jackson, Rathbone, the 6th, was born in July of 2012, co-star, Nicky Reed, who plays Rosalie, is Monroe's godmother.
Cute.
Oh, that's beautiful.
That is cute.
Okay, let's see.
This is a lot of good behind the scenes tease.
This is one of those movies where it's like, whoa.
Let's say about Rami Malik.
Rami Malik plays a part of Benjamin, vampire,
whose special power is to control the four elements.
The same year in the movie came out,
he also voiced a character in the series,
The Legend of Cora,
which takes place in a world filled with benders.
I almost made a bender joke.
To control one of the four elements.
He played a character with the ability to control one.
Water.
Look at that.
Now he's bender of all the elements.
So, okay.
He's a earth bender and air bender, a water bender.
This is this.
This is that.
This is us.
This is this.
I mean, it's interesting.
I feel like in some ways, the combination of the lore of the world plus the romance, I think, probably hit its apex for me during three.
Me too.
Four and five, I guess that's the feeling.
It's interesting to be here after the whole thing because I feel like this.
series is sort of doing two things it's doing a romance and and yeah like the the culmination of a love
and a relationship and then at a certain point parallel to that it also begins this like supernatural
saga all out war like harry potterish thing which i'm sure is part of the books and i wonder what
i wonder if it was always meant in in stephanie meyer's mind to be some kind of grand saga of like
the entire existence of all this stuff.
So it's like it's interesting, yeah, like it, I feel kind of funky here, partly
because I'm missing it already, but also because, yeah, like the last, like, part one of
this was so kind of functional in what it was doing.
I preferred part two to part one, for sure.
It's like the wedding is my favorite part of the first half, and then everything else is
like necessary and there's some interesting stuff going on, but also it is very sort
of anguished and it is just kind of one drawn outside.
scenario and then here you know you have this whole thing predicated on like a weird misunderstanding
and like there are interesting choices they made along the way this movie is do is in such a rush
and is and there's so much happening not that it felt like overpaced or or too fast or anything
like that but like the i feel like uh it's nice they gave us a couple endings to to like
feel the warmth of the aftermath again because you know this is kind of like a big we're
going all over the world and we're bringing in tons of people and introducing
new characters and there's so much
and nothing will ever be the same
and yeah like part
of me wishes for like even one more
little like 10 minute stretch of just like
on we get a little bit of wrap up
with Charlie we get a little bit of wrap up
with I feel like we could have
like really luxuriated
in the end of everything
and like the beauty the happily ever
after of it all now that
we have finished it who of the big three
is your favorite character
oh man
And Bella, Edward, Jacob.
Which of the three is your favorite?
It's so hard.
It's so hard to pick one.
It's, it's, it's, who's yours?
That's not the question.
Charlie.
Okay, well, I was going to ask you, who's your favorite not of the big three?
So Charlie's your favorite nod of the big three?
Charlie's my favorite, not of the big three.
Okay.
Everybody knew that.
Rosalie is my favorite nod of the big three.
Great call.
Good character.
Love her.
I'm back and forth, honestly, because, like, I could have an argument for each of them.
I think it's not Edward.
It's either Jacob or Bella.
It never would have been Jacob.
Jacob is doing crazy stuff now.
But, like, he really is the protector.
I think it's Bella.
I think Bella's my favorite character.
I probably would agree simply because...
You know she's annoying as hell.
It has no fashion.
But I love her.
But I do appreciate what her journey has been.
And actually now I think it's Edward over Jacob.
Jacob's doing crazy stuff now.
See, you ask me, and I'm like, like the gears start turning.
It's Bella. It's my favorite.
I feel like, well, yeah, without Bella, you wouldn't have any of this happening.
Jacob, I love, he's cuddly also.
I don't know what to make of him still, though, with certain things.
I know, I know.
Edward is.
Like, Edward started by being a stalker.
but Jacob ended by being an imprinter.
That's what we'll call that from now on.
I mean, in some ways, Edward is a cooler character than I expected.
And his moments of levity are nice.
I love how hot he thinks Bella is.
Like, I love how much he's like, how awesome is she?
I'm like, that's cool.
He's so, yeah, he's so dedicated and he's so in love with her.
Although across this, too, like Kristen Stewart surprised me in that.
It's like we said before, like, I think because of what these are and because of, you know, anything in this lane aimed at the audience it's meant for, I think, is just the kind of media that gets dogged on the most and given the least opportunity to shine by, like, the mass of opinions out there.
And so, like, part of the fun to me of coming into this whole franchise was the ability to look at it, the opportunity to look at it, the opportunity to, to look.
look at it and go, okay, I know some of this is going to be fun. I know there will be some
cheese here. But I want to meet this halfway and see if it's good at being what it is.
Because so many people, especially dump on the cast. And I've seen, it's not the majority,
thankfully in the comments, but I have seen people being like, oh, like, Kristen Stewart is such
a terrible actor. It's crazy. She's so good. I really enjoyed her performances across these.
I love all these performances. Yeah. And she, I thought she had the appropriate notes. It's like,
yeah, she's supposed to have some awkward qualities and she's supposed to be experiencing this
rush of emotion that is, A, difficult to process, but B, is got to kind of, I don't know, put you
in that life or death sort of like, this is all that matter.
It takes you back to those high school emotions or those just less bridled, less beaten down
by repeat experience emotions.
And I thought, yeah, like her growth across these and the fact that she has to be the
character who is grappling with various questions and problems, but who is also the one who
has to be like, no, I'm sure this is what I want, despite all of this debate.
She is like the through line of everything.
She's our protagonist for sure.
And in a way, not that even everybody watching has to, you know, be drawn to her attracted
to Bella for a lot of you or she is your eyeline in a way or the person you want to put
yourself in the shoes of but I feel like it would be easier literally yeah and I feel like it would
be easy if if she wasn't as on point to have her be annoying or frustrating or tedious or whatever and
and and having heard those opinions going into this and having heard just people generally trash this
and I know that it's like this is the kind of thing I think a lot of people go into and and
already write off and are just here for the trashing and and I don't think that's entirely fair like
I get why it happens, but I feel like, yeah, like the work between the three of them,
and I will probably concede that, yeah, like, Taylor Lautner is probably not the strongest actor
of the three, but the three of them- I thought he got stronger and stronger every movie.
Yeah, yeah, and he had a great, like that little beat between them in the car, uh, between him
and Bella, where they laugh, there are a couple beats like that in cars where, like, something else
is happening and like a small remark or joke, it's kind of funny, gets made, and they both
break in a very real way.
He's also, like, he's 16 when he was cast in these movies.
And then, you know, by the time we've done, he's in his 20s and like a different person and more skilled.
And it's so hard for this to be your first big role.
And it's on this side.
And after the first movie, you are told you're getting recast.
And then for him to be like, no, I'm bulking up.
I'm keeping this.
Like, I'm just impressed by Taylor Lawtoner like crazy, which is why I have Jacob on my, like, oh, I,
like him, but then the weird
printing stuff. Okay.
He's very charming. I'm Tim Bella first and foremost.
That's the answer. That's where I land.
Yeah. John, that's it, man.
That's all
she wrote until she writes more. We need to start a
Twilight podcast is what we need to do. I know.
So that we can just talk about this for hours and hours.
Get guests on, discuss it with them.
Get alternate opinions. I can't believe this.
How do we say goodbye? I don't know.
I don't know. There's just so much.
And we've met so many great people, and we've been all over the world, and we've broken a lot of furniture, and we've lied to dad a bunch of times, and we've learned a little bit about history.
I hope that we've imprinted on each and every one of you that is of eight.
Oh, we did. It happened back there. You didn't notice it was involuntary. We did it.
You didn't mean to imprint on you guys, and yet here we are. If we have, then let us know. The only thing we have,
left is what you guys write to us so please do bring us your love your cheese let us know what
we should your camp why they're cheese your seriousness because it's the soup you just know i'm allergic
to cheese it's beautiful soup bring your uh corny vegan cheese okay you guys tell us what
franchise should john and i embark on next now that this is done like what or movie what will
give us that these kind of vibes and feels i need this kind of thing
And I need something that's like that borders on that guilty play.
Like this is a special zone.
I really do think so.
It's like this is this brings some of the fun that people hate it experience.
But it brings way more joy and things to chew on that are both amusing and some that are just effective for like the intended purposes.
And so like, yeah, something that has like a little bit of romance and a little bit of, I don't know, intrigue lore.
A little bit of camp just in the right places.
Like you said chew on and then I was like just like a wolf does
Or a vampire or a bone or a rockie
What should we watch now?
Let us know okay
