Everyone, shout the time we're going to be on the stream.
One!
One!
The schedule's down below.
Keep a lookout.
For the Wolverine, we're doing the unrated cut.
I've actually never seen it.
I've only seen the theatrical version.
So this is kind of a first time.
I mean, it is a first time for you,
but it's kind of a first time for me
because I never saw the theatrical.
So I just wanted to throw that out there.
Let's get into it.
Let's do it.
We just set Tara up for the next film.
That's cool.
Guys, by the way, we just watched The Wolverine from 2013.
Make sure if you are listening on Apple or Spotify,
you take out those Wolverine claws that did not get clod off.
Yeah.
Give us those five-star ratings and also RejectNation Shop.com.
Look at these cool teeth.
Get your cold.
Of She-Jex T-Shirt.
It's the summertime depending on where you are located.
It could be the wintertime unless you're somewhere else.
But this is a cool shirt.
We've got other cool, amazing stuff over there, Reject Nation Shop.
Go check it out.
Tara.
I love this movie.
Holy crap.
From the action, like from the top to the end,
the amount of fights and action sequences that we get into in this film is stunning.
I mean, and it looked amazing.
They did so many, like, also longer shots mixed with, like, really great master shots.
Everything looked great.
I knew Professor X couldn't be dead, but it's really awesome.
that him and Magneto showed up in this one.
I was just going to say, I really love the time that they took.
And maybe that's just mainly in this extended version between Mariko and Logan,
because you could actually feel their chemistry and that it took time.
It didn't feel like forced for a storyline, why they would actually kind of fall for each other,
which I really liked.
I also really enjoyed that there's like so many badass women in this.
It's kind of like Wolverine versus that that Blonde.
Antwatt and a bunch of other weird, weird ninjas.
But, like, he has two badass women backing him, which I really, really like.
The redhead girl, I forget her name.
But, um, uh, UQU.
My favorite, which I thought was like a really ridiculous, also hilarious,
awesome writing is that, like, he grabs a cigar, right?
And then when he's on the top of the snow plower, that it must have been in writing where
it's like, he puts a cigar in his mouth.
He claws through the gas of it.
It explodes.
And then we got to wear his cigars lit on fire.
That's so ridiculous and so comic book.
And I love it.
It's so stinking much.
I love this film.
Yeah, no, I really, really enjoyed it.
Way more than X-Men Origins Wolverine.
That's not even close.
And again, I don't remember the theatrical cut very much.
There's a couple of things.
I remember I did remember the ending and a couple other scenes.
But I definitely like the unrated version a lot more.
it's more it's more bloodier um and uh i think one thing i do love about this film um just i love that
we get into logan's pain and torment from the consequences that we uh get to from x-men the last stand
with jean um and just that he blames himself for that and i love the the beautiful arc we get to
at the end of the film where he learns to he has to let go of jean and forgive himself and i think
there's something you know poetic about that um like at the end of the day he is a mutant
but like this film really huge i mean yeah we've come to humanize uh Logan and just like in terms
of like he is he does human things in terms of like being like a heroesque type of character
but this film like literally got rid of his powers um and just like really treated him as a human
being um and i think too it up the stakes with getting rid of his powers like if he would
have still had his powers i still think it would have been a badass film but the fact that they
did get rid of his powers it's like holy shit like he could actually die
Right.
Totally.
It got scary then.
Yeah.
And the fact that you have a character like Yukio is a mutant that can see
character's deaths and like foreshadowed that too.
That was interesting.
I thought you made a great point.
And again,
I didn't remember everything.
I thought like with that that call you made with the with the grizzly bear and the poison thing,
I thought he was going to go berserker mode.
Yeah.
It didn't like, you know, stop me from enjoying the phone or anything.
But it would have been a cool callback.
Yeah.
And they definitely.
upped the visuals from x-men origins wolverine because we made and i'm sure many of you probably
have the same complaints as well from what i remember just back in the day of complaining i
remember from that film um the cg i in that film was not very good uh but the cgi in this film
awesome the claw the adamantium claws look great the only cgii and again terry if you disagree
totally cool that's fine i did not personally with the adamantium monster yeah you didn't like
Silver Samurai, it just how big he looked and just, again, I don't mind how big he was,
but just, it just, I was being thrown out of it a little bit.
That whole thing at the end there, again, up to that point, this film is like almost perfect.
Once we got to that whole thing with, I forgot, already forgot the character's name,
and I do like that storyline with him saving him and like how he wasn't wasting his life and how he
was grateful to Logan.
And I do understand that whole thing of like, oh my God, I don't ever, like,
Like, now that I see what Logan is capable of, I want a taste of his immortality.
I want to live forever.
Look what I've created with this life.
Logan gave me that should have been gone from a nuclear explosion.
And I understand that.
And again, I don't know much about the Silver Samurai from the comics or who really was the character.
If it was Yoshita or whoever is who the character is in this film, I don't know if that's exactly who it is.
This would be a coy thing or you guys would probably know better than me.
I just personally did not like that twist.
It didn't do anything for me.
It wasn't like, oh my God, this really is like, holy shit.
It's a twist and it's servicing the story in a way like that that's making me feel satisfied.
Not for me.
I didn't care for it.
That was the only thing that bothered me in this film.
Other than that, I really loved it, the action on the bullet train, the action that
continued on from the funeral all the way that I love action that takes place in one setting
and moves on to another location in the same scene.
That was amazing.
The choreography, great.
Hirouki Sonata, I'm used to seeing him, obviously, from Shogun play, well, I guess you
could make an argument that he does play other villains, or play villains earlier in his career,
but I loved him in this film.
He was a piece of crap, but his performance is what I loved.
Just seeing a guy that was, again, it's a theme with him and his father, like the willing
to do anything.
They don't give a shit about their family, willing to do anything to stay.
in power.
And that is something,
again,
for someone who watched,
I don't know if you know
the show
Forensic Files,
it's a show.
From back in the day.
Yeah, yeah.
But basically I did see on that show
that people were willing
to take out their own family
for like life insurance.
This is a thing that happens in real life.
Honestly,
I know it's scary.
It's crazy for money.
So this isn't something that's like out,
it is grounded in reality.
Yeah.
In a fantasy comic book film.
So,
you know,
that did ground the film for sure.
It's as ridiculous as it was.
that someone would do that to their own family.
Whether that's like, oh, my God, my daughter's getting the job over me or whatever,
even though we know that the grandfather was just wanted Wolverines, you know,
Adamandium so he could juice or whatever so he could stay young.
But overall, again, I'd only seen this once back in 2013.
I liked it.
I didn't love it.
But I definitely liked it a lot more this time.
My only gripe is more that ending.
I just didn't care for it.
The twist did nothing for me.
but the action phenomenal.
And I thought Viper was super scary as well.
Oh, yeah.
She did a great job.
Yeah, no, she really brought a menacing threat.
I thought she was more menacing and threatening than the Silver Samurai, to be quite honest.
I don't know if you felt the same way, but that's just personally how I felt.
Yeah, and I wasn't, again, with that whole twist, I'm like, I get where he's coming from.
He wanted to live on.
I'm like, dude, Logan's safety from a nuclear blast.
This is so incredible.
yeah like it just rubbed me the wrong way personally yeah again if you loved it i'm not disweighing
your opinion of it terra or anyone else if you like the silver samurai in this film and the twist
i didn't mind it as much as you did like you definitely didn't like it but i was like yeah it's fine
with me i also wasn't as surprised when it turned out to be like the old guy in the in the suit
but at first i thought that logan was dreaming that the old guy was in there which is why i wasn't really
shocked. And then once I realized he wasn't, I was like, oh, okay, it makes sense. But I wish that
there was a more wholesome storyline to it where the guy actually did die, right, where he would
just, and maybe he was trying to do the right thing in, in prolonging other people's lives by
taking some of Wolverine stuff if Wolverine decided to do that, meaning if Logan was deciding to be
like, yeah, I would rather have this go away.
Right.
But, and I just think there could have been a different reveal of who was behind there
versus like the grandpa that I was like, he was so nice and like, right?
And so it's a little sad there at the end.
But, yeah.
And really quick, I'd also, to your credit to or piggybacking off your point, I love all
the female characters in this film, including the villain Viper, who I already mentioned.
I love Yuko.
I love Mariko.
I love how just the empowerment we get from these characters,
like the badass characters without throwing it in your face.
Like they stand out.
And I just love the chemistry and the interactions between Logan and Mariko.
I thought I just love how she looks at him as literally a caveman because that's how he came about.
And then the way they slowly and organically develop their relationship with each other
because she feels they're both so isolated and alone.
because he feels so tormented with what happened with Gene,
and she's just isolated from her father, like, wants to literally run the company
and, like, is literally physically abusing her.
Yeah.
So, like, I think it's a perfect mix between the two.
And, like, again, I love that the film doesn't rush that relationship really takes its time.
And I think this film, like, there are times where it's a slow burn and other times where
it's fast action-paced.
And the way it balances, it never feels rushed, whether it's action or the,
slow burn and I think the balance just works perfectly because that's something like that you can write
it down but you've got to just as edit it's really good editing comes about there and I think they
for the most part really nailed that down yeah they paste it out well yeah and I also I loved
yukio as well she was awesome I loved the she was great there was a couple emotional scenes
where I want to give that actress I don't know her name I think she was in the show era she really
acted her ass off and she just had me feeling in the moments and again Hugh Jack
Great performance.
He needs to get in better shape in the next film, though.
We're counting on it.
So on that, Hugh Jackman said for his shirtless scenes in the movie,
he wanted to look as ripped as, and cut as possible.
No.
So he adopted a dehydration diet.
Jesus.
Where he did not consume any liquid for 36 hours before filming his shirtless shots.
No water for three days?
He said it made him feel headachey and faint.
Yes, 36 hours.
But he was pleased at the results as dehydrating tightened everything.
up and gave him the exaggerated muscle definition and vascularity that he wanted to show in his
shirtless scenes. So now we have it. He probably did work out before, but maybe he couldn't even
have the energy if it was dehydrated as for sure. And guys just let me, sorry, I said three days.
36 hours is not three days. That's one day or one and a half days. Seventy two hours is three
days. So I just wanted to point that up at that. I could not go 36 hours with no water. I have to
have water at all time. Oh, not all time, but a lot. None of us are.
doing that.
Young Ishida gives Wolverine the Samarine Sword.
What's engraved on it is never died, never aged, never destroyed, which is totally appropriate
for the Wolverine, which I love that.
That's great.
We didn't know that before.
To prepare for the role, Hugh Jackman contacted Dwayne the Rock Johnson for advice on bulking
up for the movie.
Johnson suggested Jackman could gain a pound a week over six months, 24 weeks, by eating
6,000 calories a day of an awful lot of charge.
chicken steak and brown rice.
Damn, you have to eat that many calories.
Wow.
Well, it's healthy calories plus working out.
Totally.
Because I eat a lot of calories.
I mean, I probably eat like about 2,500, 3,000 calories and it's all healthy for the
most part.
Yeah.
I don't know if I could eat 6,000.
I feel like I'd throw up.
So this may be the scene that you were talking about that was deleted, maybe.
An alternate ending was filmed where Yukio presents Logan with a box that contains his
yellow Wolverine mouse.
from the comic books, the scene is presented as a bonus feature on the Blu-ray.
That is the scene I was referencing.
I thought maybe it would be in this unrated cut.
I was hoping I wanted Tara to experience it and go, I get to watch this with Tara.
I've seen it before on YouTube just one time, and I thought we were going to get to experience it here.
But I guess you had to experience it reading it.
I think that is probably it for the...
Oh, read one more.
Hugh Jackman said the movie, finally achieved the physique that he always envisioned.
He said for some reason on each of his five prior takes
as the character, he felt that he never had enough time
to get in shape.
For this movie, he finally had enough time
and got his body exactly the way he wanted it to look,
which is why we kept complimenting.
Like, wow, he looks super fit in this, so we were right.
Wynion and Lee also said it was Jackman's best physique
for the role of Wolverine.
Let me double check.
I think he was doing, because remember we did the movie
Prisoners with him?
Uh-huh.
Prisoners.
I think it was the same year.
I just want to see.
Oh, yeah, because he was in mad shape for that.
2013 same year.
Oh, yeah.
So they got a super infit.
So now you have the knowing idea that under that shirt, he's in Wolverine, the Wolverine shape.
Totally.
Absolutely.
So when he's like hitting the sink and like getting on Paul Dano like under that shirt, like there's 20.
He's got Wolverine coming out.
There's 40 abs under there.
Exactly.
That's insane.
But again, yeah, overall, other than the ending and the twist and the whole Silver Samurai stuff,
I love this unrated cut.
I love the film.
It's everything I wanted X-Men Origins Wolverine to be for the most part.
I love the direction.
I love the emotional pain and torment that we feel.
I love the arc for Wolverine.
I love the performance from Hugh Jackman.
I love the Mariko, Yuccio, and I love that twisted, scary viper, or excuse me, the blonde-twat.
She was great.
I loved seeing Hiriuki Sonata in this.
Yeah, just a lot of great stuff in this.
The action, the slow burn.
It's top-notch, dude.
Yeah, I mean, a lot of great stuff that we mentioned.
Any final thoughts?
No, just make sure that you like this.

We love you guys.
I loved this movie a lot.
The ending in the twist didn't bug me that much.
And the monster, the adamantia monster, I kind of liked it.
I loved it when his OG Clause came out at the end.
That's great.
And I like how great of friends he became with the Redhead.
I forget her name.
I love this writing.
I love the story.
I'm so glad I got to watch it.
No, I'm excited for you to.
We're not at the next Wolverine film after this.
That's Logan, but it's the same director, just letting you know that James Mangold.
but the next film we are doing is X-Men, Days of Future Pass,
which is one of my favorite X-Men fans ever.
And that scene we saw in the mid-credits completely set it up.
Oh, I love that.
Just letting you know that.
Yeah, I'm so looking forward to us reacting to it.
Yes.
But if you guys don't want to miss that reaction, you must...
Ring the bell! Ring the bell.
Don't forget to do it.
So you know when we drop that video, if you have stayed with us this far,
We so appreciate it.
Guys do not be dropping comments saying we did not react to the mid-credit scene.
I swear, I'm just kidding.
We love you guys.
Thank you so much if you stuck around this far.
We can't wait to react to X-Men Days of Future Past.
It's going to be out very soon after this video, probably within a week I would imagine.
So be on the lookout for that.
And we shall see you guys next time.
Later.
