Actually Yeah, that was very devastating Actually And did Yeah, what did you think? I mean, I really liked it I think that obviously They're incredibly epic battle scenes

Throughout the entire film But also, I mean, just really, really great acting, I think, as well, which was a nice balance. You know, it wasn't just one battle after another. I didn't see that film. Oh, it's so good. I think that there was a really nice balance in this film, for sure. I thought so.

Everybody was pretty solid. You know, obviously we both knew a little bit about this story, but not a whole lot. So that was cool. I'm more familiar with the Odyssey. Yeah. I am not either. But I really enjoyed it. I think everybody's performances were really great.

And I'm just really astounded at the battle scenes all and all. Even the ones that were like one on one, even just Achilles and Hector at the end. Like they felt very unique to me, each battle scene. Yeah, they really did. And they really shifted and got darker and darker and darker. I mean, it did a really great job of building that tension, too, throughout the whole. movie. The pacing was great for it being a pretty long film, too. I didn't feel, I didn't feel like it was dragging, really, by any means. I want to see how long the non-director's cut version is. Directors cut versions.

Oh, it's universally considered the superior film. It adds, okay, it adds, it adds half an hour. Okay, that's interesting. I mean, I didn't think it dragged in any way. There was nowhere for me where I felt, like I was lost or did you? No. Anywhere in there? No, I never felt that. Yeah, it really did. I mean, it was very captivating and very enthralling, especially because just for me, a lot of the

times with the really long films, I, I guess I'm more of like a purist in terms of like, as someone that works in film, you know, it's like you never want a script to be too long. You know, you do want to keep it condensed, like start already in it and end, you know. But so normally I'm not a huge fan. of longer films and I do think that certain things can be cut but I don't know I really I felt like everything was completely necessary it almost made me understand a little bit more like with dune you know there's dune part one and part two and stuff part of me is like I wonder if this if this movie was released today I feel like it would be a two part maybe yeah well I mean audiences attention spans

have gotten smaller and smaller and smaller yeah whittling way yes um I mean this sound design was just phenomenal. The acting was absolutely like just phenomenal. And I just, I guess I thought going into it that it was going to be more of a action. I mean, it was very action-packed, but what I mean to say is that the drama and the stakes and all of those different subplots and storylines, they were just as much up there for me with or they were done as well as the battle scene. Yeah. Agreed. Agreed. Yeah, I mean, not to even mention the set design. The art direction was unbelievable. I can't imagine. Yeah, let's see what Oscars it. It just won costume design. Did it win or just nomination? It was just a nomination. Oh, my God. Wow. I can't believe the set

didn't get anything or art direction or, well. What? It didn't win anything? I'm just kind of, I'm just really surprised. Really? And it didn't win? Mm-mm. What? And it only got one Oscar nom. Oh, for a costume. That was it.

Wow. I'm just kind of surprised by this. I mean, I thought everybody, who's the guy that played the, how do you say his name? Aganon. Agamemnon. Agamemnon. That actor is really fantastic. I really like him a lot.

Eric Bann, I couldn't place his name either. Oh, Brian Cox. Yeah. Brian Cox, phenomenal. I didn't recognize him with his beautiful brides. Yeah, he was fantastic. He was the standout for me, for sure. I mean, Eric Bano was pretty great, too.

I mean, yeah, Rose Bird. Wow, look at Orlando Bloom now. Now he finally looks like a man. And he's always just looked like, really? You don't think so. No, he has never done it for me. He was doing it for me. You know who doesn't do it for me?

Everyone is about to roll their eyes. Like, yeah, if I was in the same room with him, like, sure, like, would. But, like, Brad Pitt is just, like, not number one for me. I don't really like one for me. He's not number one for me, but I thought he was very hot in this movie. He's hotter now. He's hotter than Orlando Bloom. I disagree.

I, well, no, the real winner was like a little girl. He looks like a little, like, he just looks very feminine and very petite to me. And I'm by. So, God forbid, I love a beautiful man. You can love him. I'm just saying for me, he's never really done it. I interacted with Brian Cox once. on the set of succession, I had to go in and ask him if he wanted to snack.

And I was so scared. He's scary. I'm scared. I'm afraid of him, too. I'm kind of afraid of him, too. I feel like he's a very smart person, though, too. Yeah. He just looked like so irritated that I was disturbing him in his stress room.

And I'm like, I'm sorry. Like, I'm following orders here. I will say I had one issue with the film. Is, hold on. Is Briseis a real? Hold on. Avivalea? Yeah.

No, no, no, no, no. Cut this album. Sorry, guys. I love Rose Bryant. She is like so my jam right now. Okay. Well, she's incredible. I just, I think, okay, I'm going to separate it from the history, but I'm just

going to speak in terms of plot and just look at it as individually as a film. I just had an issue with her character. I just, unless it's, like, I just feel like in no instance short of Stockholm syndrome, She was a priestess. Like she committed her life to the faith. Clearly, Troy was very, very, like, religious civilization. I just don't believe that she would just behave. How she behaved at the end of the film.

I just didn't buy it, you know? At the end of the film, what do you mean when she went? Like, being totally, like, in love with Achilles. Like, even after he killed her cousin and just completely just, goodbye, Troy. I don't care about Troy or the gods. I'm going to like go along with this man whose people are literally like raping and raping and pillaging and throwing babies off like over the into the fucking ocean and I just didn't buy it.

I was like I am I supposed to feel like bad that he's dying? I don't feel bad and I'm supposed to feel sad like their love story. I'm like he captured her and held her hosta like he told her she was free many times. I know and I'm just don't buy that she wouldn't leave. It doesn't make sense. It didn't make sense to me. It made me mad. Understandable.

End. I think the other thing that I wanted to say was just I... I'm switching in between... There's a larger conversation to be had here, but there were many parts of the film where the gratuitous violence and the violent depiction of the raping and the killing babies just did take me out of it. But then again, at the same time, maybe that those things did happen. And I just, I never know where I land on the side of like, do we really need to show it?

Is that really necessary? Do we really need to watch this? And while it was accurate and it is important that we know how fucking horrible these people were and like how horrible like that is what happens with war a lot of the times and still now. And still to this day, now actively. So maybe it is important that our films do contain the truth of what does happen. And I just got really depressed. Okay, I'm done now. No, I mean, that's a good point.

It is a good point. I didn't feel like it was overly gratuitous. I appreciated that at least it was only at the end. Like I said, I do enjoy the battle between men, obviously, much more. I am a creep, though, and I thought all the blood splatter was actually pretty cool. Fine with gore. It's the women and children. Sure.

Yeah. And I think. And I know that it's real. But again, but it's just very difficult to watch, you know? Yeah. And I find myself sitting here like, why am I subjecting myself to the, well, it's Greg's fault. Yeah. I'll get off my high, I'll get off my Trojan horse.

I know that Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey coming out in July is not necessarily a direct secret to Troy, but Troy is based on Greek tale, the Iliad, which the follow-up to that tale was The Odyssey. Also, Sean Bean's character, Odysseus, is the character Matt Damon is playing in The Odyssey.

Do you think having the background info on Odysseus from Troy will help you get more into his character right away when he goes from supporting character from Troy to lead protagonist in The Odyssey? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I needed a refresh on all of it. So I think it could absolutely prepare us. And I hope that we get to watch that together. I hope so too. I would say yes. I have good knowledge on the Odyssey and the Heroes journey just because we covered in college. But I did forget that it was his idea to do the Trojan horse. I completely, whoop, that was not in my brain. So that was really cool to watch. And I think that I remembered that he was very small. But I don't know if I remembered that it was his choice. Because that was the best move that their whole army made the whole fucking movie. That's the only way that they ended up burning Troy.

I'm really sad. I'm kind of, guys, I'm grieving the loss of Troy, right? The fall of Troy, I'm very upset right now. But the answer is yes. Do you want to do the next one? Sure. Hi, Care Bear. Oh.

Oh, for Tony. Oh, Fallen Angels. I don't know that one. I don't know that one either. But anyways. I absolutely loved if I had legs, I'd kick you. I think she was absolutely stellar in that. And I've actually been watching Platonic with her and Seth Rogen on HBO.

And it is very funny. I think she is actually just a great comedic actress and a really great dramatic actress as well. I have liked her for a long time. Even in bridesmaid, she was kind of like a. super annoying character, but she was great. I really, really love Rose. Oh yeah, and the neighbors, too. Did you see that one with your boy?

I haven't seen neighbors. With Zach Efron, it's actually a really, really funny movie, a really, really funny movie. For me, I love bridesmaids. I think bridesmaids is one of the greatest comedies that we've seen in the last, I guess it, well, it's been, it's 15 years old now. But one of the greatest comedies, amazing growing up getting to kind of, that came out when I was.

still a kid. So she's so phenomenal in that. And I love zombie movies. I want to watch every zombie movie ever and 28 weeks later. So good. So good. But no, I really, I really, really want to watch if I had legs, I'd kick you. Oh my God. I'm sure it's already been done on this channel. I don't think it has actually. Really? I don't think so. I talked to Greg and Alex about it. Really? Yeah. I'll let you take this one off. In personality or mood. This is hard. We have like, what, three choices? Three females in this.

I am not like Rose Burns character because I just can't go back. You are definitely not Rose Bryant's character. I think I'm going to pick Helen of Troy because she had one of my favorite lines in the entire movie, which was I have never been. It was like I've never been as young as you are. Yeah. And it's just, I just think that that line. is such a beautiful description of what the female experience really is like, you know? Yeah.

I've never been. There were a lot of really young as you are. As young as you are. In this entire script, I think. That line is just one of my all-time favorite lines I've ever. I've never been as young as you are. You know, oh, my God. I'm probably scrambling the words a bit, but.

Who would I be? The Trojan horse. The Trojan horse. Is that because I'm a mother? I've carried two children and socks. Well, that Trojan horse mothered money more children. It did. It did. It did. I like to think that maybe I'd be like Hector, who didn't really want to have war.

He wanted peace, but he kind of had to take it on the chin for his family. And he was really about his family and trying to protect Troy and his new child and his, I thought, most beautiful wife. I loved his wife. I don't know who that actress is, but she is just beautiful. I, yeah, and, you know, again, I feel like he was kind of like the underdog there. Nobody really talked about his skill. And even Achilles, after he killed him, he gave him, you know, he told his father he was the best fighter he'd ever come against. So I like to think I'm a Hector.

I also relate to Helen of Troy because she's just trying to, like, live her best life and be freed, you know, of being forced to be this king's concubine. and then men have big problems with it and make it her problem. You know, they just like take a lot of issues. This face that launched a thousand ships. Well, guys, that was a long one. It was a long one. I'm hungry.
