We're going to get into this movie now. Greg, you ready? You feeling good? I'm good. That's rock and roll. Ow. This isn't exactly ring comedy for Medea could appear
Starting point is 00:01:39 in the post credit team. Connecting all this. This is a different universe in the multiverse of Medea and Tyler Perry. I'm ready to take it all your words, Aaron. Oh, man. Good God.
Starting point is 00:01:58 what's up guys if you listen to this on apple or spotify make sure you want to give us five stars we just watched the movie and part of the question why did i get married um i don't know about you oh that was great i thought was a really really good movie and again this continues the trend of tyler peri movies where seemingly as we go along in this journey they just get better and better. And I feel like this, for me, it's a different category of better. Because if like the other ones were good.
Starting point is 00:02:36 And they're like good for what they were, but still entertaining. I think this is just a flat out, just a good movie. Through and through, it felt very natural, felt very organic. As someone who just likes, has just a natural interest for being inquisitive in loving psychology and relationships and how people work,
Starting point is 00:02:55 I felt like this was a really good study and observation of that in a narrative form and seeing just the different types of relationships and the shortcomings that could cause people to have certain pitfalls and how you come out on the other side of that and getting both the male and female perspective on their relationships felt very organic both the couples themselves but also how they interact with their friends and how all of them kind of come together i was i uh really really really enjoyed it what do you think man that is easily my favorite one but like a lot i said that about the last one but i'm like now this one for sure is like it was like an hour like this is a 100% going to come out on top um i thought it was hilarious
Starting point is 00:03:53 yeah and it was so moving at the same time yeah i i know like i'm one of the guys here who cries i know um usually there's like one scene and that's one of our test thumbnails and if it happens to be the most clicked one based off analytics it becomes to me though but i was like i was like three or four scenes in here i was like man she's just really really like gaming man it's like a real moving film because it really feels like it's equivalent for me when you watch a show and you get to know the characters for a while and we're watching like episode 10 or something at the start you know we're not just watching the beginning part of it and like i like the way they throw you into the middle of their friendships and and relationships
Starting point is 00:04:47 because yeah it was so nuanced and there's literally only one moment i can think of i was like don't really believe that one like it's like 10 seconds of the movie out of this two-hour film i'm like that's the weird part but outside of that 10 seconds uh i thought every relationship was believable everyone is perfectly cast in here yeah yes like sometimes tyler perry's writing could of course be a little on the nose in terms of whatever messages are trying to convey but i think when you're in a relationship long enough you're kind of a little bit on the nose in real life you're a little bit more like like i i think there's like a line between like what is expositional dialogue and what is dynamics if you are an open
Starting point is 00:05:37 um if you're a type of person or have friends or i i like to think that with most of our friends you and i we have like a pretty open dialogue about our feelings and thoughts and what we're going through. And when your main character is a psychologist, it's like, yeah, it actually makes sense that this group of people would be pretty open about their thoughts and feelings and kind of have a bit of an examination and accountability discussions and stuff like that. But never getting bogged down in, that's the thing. I think there's a version of this where someone might walk away and go, it sounds preachy. And I wouldn't say that. I think these are like, while there's messages and lessons to take, I thought it was grounded in who the characters are
Starting point is 00:06:26 because the characters never felt like they broke to tell me a message. The characters always felt like the characters and their growth on every single one of them felt real, right down to Mike, the abuse guy. Yeah, because the second he showed up, I was like, there's that Tyler Perry here. the abusive husband guy and his he felt very human like he he was aggressive sure in the way he when he was being abusive but you actually i i was there to be like i get why he's a shitty husband but as a friend i get why the guys kick it with him and still talk with him because it just seems like he might be an all right guy underneath all that but he was funny he was and he was
Starting point is 00:07:14 funny and he's charming like a good abusive guy is like he's funny and charming and there's there's like nuance to him and the and the way how he needs that like validation at the very end still right there but it's not ever done in a way that feels telegraphed in a corny ass way i i thought this was the best script so far from what we've seen of him yeah because there's a lot of characters and every one of them i thought was interesting and everyone had clear growths that felt natural and it's quirky
Starting point is 00:07:49 and yes it's listed as a comedy and drama and I thought it succeeds very much at both so yeah this is easily my favorite Tyler Perry movie we love so far I would go to say I loved this film I love this movie I thought this was a great film
Starting point is 00:08:06 yeah I would say the same I absolutely love this movie I think the thing that surprised me I wonder if it just more like uh we're gonna we're gonna we'll eventually get back into like the medea films and we really and maybe i don't really watch of those first like diary mad black woman i really enjoyed um but i i and medea goes to jail was the last one we watched so i'm wondering if like like is there just a very specific different type of voice that he had because those feel a little
Starting point is 00:08:33 bit more like those are drama sketch colors yeah those were plays that he adapted um yeah yeah made sense and this one feels like just a straight up screen play yeah but The thing I enjoyed about this movie is the fact that it was able to be authentic and have characters that were vulnerable and honest. The scene that made me think of like, damn, I can't wait to have this conversation afterwards. Was that scene at the school when I went to go visit her? And I feel like within society there is this. I'm sorry, what scene? What scene?
Starting point is 00:09:07 What's the scene where they're talking about making the good list and the bad list. Oh, Chad Jackson goes visit the two women. Well, I think they went to go visit her because they were at her school where she teaches. Yes, that makes more sense. Yeah. So it was that scene where her friend, she tells her friends that they're being stubborn and they're not willing to kind of meet their husbands halfway. And it's so it was interesting to me because I feel like within society, we kind of perceive men to be, I guess, less emotionally intelligent and less willing to have these type of conversations. But in this one is sort of flipped in a sense.
Starting point is 00:09:42 and kind of where they wanted to have the conversation Tyler Payers' character wanted to have the conversation Michael Dwight was scared to but then he also got to a place where he was just so frustrated he was kind of able to kind of talk some sense into his wife's character and the fact that they were
Starting point is 00:09:59 in a place where they acknowledged they were being stubborn and sort of selfish with kind of where they were coming from and had like a sense of pride I felt like that was very much surprising to me because I'm like wow okay they this is like something that both sexes kind of deal with and the fact they were able to be so open and honest about that I really appreciate it and that they
Starting point is 00:10:22 wrote them in a way where they are able to admit their faults because I feel like the old adage of like you know the woman's always right or like oh just say just continue to agree or when you're in an argument just your wife is right all the time and I like that the fact that they were able to add nuance to that and kind of put it in the position where Tyler Perry's wife came at the end like look I messed up I was wrong when you give me a second change which is not something you really see a lot in movies and I'm happy that this movie kind of flipped that because kind of I remember you said at the beginning of the movie you resonated with um his wife's like being like working all the time right and and you know how busy it can be yeah so and I feel like
Starting point is 00:11:06 that's normally inverted because like like the wife wants the husband's attention and wants the affection but he's not in a position to be able to give that so i like that we were able to put a spin on that did terry Tyler perry did he ever apologize for the DNA test i don't think he did not not right i love we got a proper apology of that i mean he was punished i guess i mean yeah because he that's something that you know because you don't trust your partner it's really insulting it's very insulting it is insulting i understand why he did it but yeah it is insulting to to do that to question that behind your partner's back for sure but i'm like you know he his wife was busy all the time and always
Starting point is 00:11:55 talking to people and never around you're like well maybe she's getting some sort of satisfaction or maybe she's getting something outside i'm putting myself in his shoes that she's not getting within this maybe she's getting her 20 somewhere else kind of oh it's i mean i understand the thoughts and i understand but you should have apologized i i think at the end of the day that's like that's the it's the part about being accountable for your your part in something that is failing is you still at the end of the day did something behind her back and you question her her loyalty integrity her character um in a way that was not a discussion with her it was a trying to catch her
Starting point is 00:12:39 something um like i got why she was hurt as hell by by him doing that um yeah but i think the movie brings up like these questions and conversation that's something that makes me go like oh screw this movie uh it would have been nice it's sometimes i i was i think that was the one part of the balance of it is sometimes i would question like is the women taking are the women taking if we look at the scales of like responsibilities sometimes i was wondering is is the what are the women taking more responsibility for what's going wrong than the men are supposed to be taking yeah because we never really acknowledge the the cheating aspect of things so and especially with you know him having uh STB of what did you say a viral
Starting point is 00:13:29 disease or because i think it's venereal i'm not sure i've never had it so i don't really care to know yeah but him having a venereal disease I think the only ones that really sort of addressed it and kind of came to a catharsis within their tension was Patricia and Gavin's characters
Starting point is 00:13:51 which is such a moving scene that's the scene that made me cry because you know he just wanted to be there and comfort his wife and acknowledge that was a beautiful scene yeah man and the fact that it was just this one scene that just kind of moved around the table and he just wanted her
Starting point is 00:14:07 to look at the son's picture. I just was just really moved and her holding and harboring all this blame within her and him comforting her and letting her know that he doesn't blame her and just holding her and then both crying was just so I don't know it was just so beautiful and authentic and I feel like that's
Starting point is 00:14:25 not something you really see a lot of especially just like a black man crying with his wife. He just don't see that in movies these days. So I think that really really moved me because I feel like I would kind of be in that sort of position to try to be a point of clarity and in comfort um to to my partner who's um kind of
Starting point is 00:14:46 holding a lot of pain well the i think the acting on both of their ends was so strong they they really it really felt like a conversation that had been pushed to the side and been building up for a very long time yeah i feel like that's all of them all the characters but especially within their yeah particularly that convert like that's a big big scene and um yeah what i like to is the like just the overall vibe of the movie is how it's like it's a pleasantry of them all going on a trip but you never know what's going on behind closed doors of people
Starting point is 00:15:16 you never know like beyond just other couples I mean just as individuals like I'm sure there's like so much of the time of you're having a hard time that I might not be aware about or I'm having a hard time you know what we're not aware about even though I kind of make it clear I'm having a hard time I tend to just put it out there for people
Starting point is 00:15:33 but yeah that that is a great like pulling back the curtain in a way i i i feel especially like to kick it off of the couple's retreat where i didn't know where the movie's going to go right like is it going to be a bunch of hijinks is it going to be a bunch of like quirky stuff that happens are they going to just stay at the cabin the whole time yeah it felt like organic drama organic situations rather than melodrama i mean i movie had a really good balance of juggling those two tones yeah because it is like the
Starting point is 00:16:01 humor feels very natural the way they bob and weave throughout everything and like in the just the hangout times and they're just hanging out like the guys you're just hanging out like the guys you're kicking in and talking the women are just kicking in and talking it feels very natural like it when i say by a show it's like a hangout show with actual stakes and dynamics to it and tensions you know to keep the natural parts of life feeling truly cinematically engaging you know and i loved um shella so much she's jill scott actor holy bald is she amazing living our life like she's She's a singer. She's more known for a recording artist and she is an actress.
Starting point is 00:16:44 So both Herie and Jenna Jackson did a phenomenal job for not being known for acting. And I just felt so bad for Sheila because Mike was just such a garbage man, such a garbage. Like he is the type of man that I see a lot of like women with my person life and online just like never trust a man, man or shit. But like, no, we have all these other men like Terry. like Gavin, to kind of contradict or stand against that stereotype. But to focus more on Sheila, that girl was just so beaten down by so many years of verbal abuse to finally get a sense of not only loving herself, but realizing that she deserves love by meeting somebody like Troy, I thought that was just beautiful.
Starting point is 00:17:29 I feel like that that's not something you see a lot of that happens in life. So I'm happy to, like, and I've seen people, not maybe. in the same sort of circumstance, but just like verbally beaten down and get to a point where they're so broken and so torn by the fact that the circumstances have had to endure that they beat whatever things
Starting point is 00:17:54 that are beating them down to the punch before they can be told to them. And I like the fact that he was able to be that sense of light for her, the sense of showing her an alternate perspective and giving her a sense of fulfillment and joy. And it was just beautiful, especially just, you know, just her, I don't know, her, her being this black woman that was so down on herself and we get to see her lifted up. It just made me really happy.
Starting point is 00:18:20 And I'm excited to see her thrive in the sequel and see them all go through their woes. Yeah. The one thing, the one minor criticism outside of that one scene that we talked about with like the pretending like he had twins thing was. Oh, what, was her name Pam? I see Pam right there. We got the side piece, the 20%, whoever she was. I feel like she wasn't really much of a character.
Starting point is 00:18:49 I feel like she was just kind of there. We didn't really get to like any insight into her. The one who works with Tyler Perry? No, the one who Mike was cheating on. Oh, Trina? Trina, yeah, Trina. So I feel like Trina was just kind of there because even when she went with the other women,
Starting point is 00:19:04 we just focused on the guys. We didn't really get to see her interact with the other women. and see what their dynamic was like. And she was just there to cause conflict. She was more of an object of division rather than a true character. But other than that, I was like, okay with that, though. I mean, that's what I mean,
Starting point is 00:19:21 I keep comparing it to like a show that I, like a TV show. I'm like, that's fine. It didn't bother me a lot, but I just had to point out something. I think because it what made me think of that was when she was like, I'll pray for you, giving an insight like, okay, maybe something's like broken in or wrong with her to put her in a position to steal her friends man in the first place yeah man so you made me curious i feel like that's implied but uh i mean she is the out i feel like
Starting point is 00:19:46 as the outsider of the group who no one was trying to get close with i felt it was fine to kind of keep her on the outskirts but i mean you could have added a nice little depth to it reject nation put on some weight over the holidays so in the past month been on a pretty strict macro counting diet i got to say i'm feeling better than ever at the same time you got to be real about something sticking to macros means early having to like factor out a lot when you're trying to pick meals and when life gets busy that's when uh there's a chance to get all fall apart that's why when i don't have something to cook but i still need something that fits within my diet i go for this bad boy and i've seen me drinking on camera before hew so happy just got a fresh
Starting point is 00:20:24 order i have definitely probably ordered more personally for this household than they've ever paid me I don't know if that's true, but it's, I feel confident in that fear. Trust me, you'll love it. Rejignation. Fun fact. Fantasy football is now a part of my life. Why? Because my wife and her friends are obsessed with it. So I'm constantly hearing about things I've never heard about before.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Like who's getting benched? Who's a sleeper pick? And why someone's entire weekend was ruined over a bad play. And at this point, I figured might as well support my wife the extra mile and getting in there myself. And that's why I want to think prize picks. And my wife will tell you I'm not the sharpest tool in the show. when it comes to stuff like this, but price picks is the easiest way to play daily fantasy sports. Starting point is 00:23:06 and we like straight from that subject um with the sheila storyline that line of oh god what was that line when she was putting herself down and then Troy was saying the opposite like it's unattractive to do that and don't do that and she said something that i'm fucking like really like oh man what a bar uh a bar i can't remember but broke her down she wanted to beat him to the punch because she was so used to it and i'm like i think a lot of us know what i definitely know what that's like and that really uh sucked and like just the there was like when it comes to weight struggles um i i definitely i definitely understand that and uh erin's never talked to me about that once
Starting point is 00:23:58 She has no idea how to identify that. But, you know, I mean, like, I've been like 50, 60 pounds heavier before. And so I know, and I know I've been lighter than what I am now and still been like your fat and ugly, Greg. And I would just think this is what, that's what people see all that. I thought for so many years for a bunch of psychological regions, but so many years that people that's, just what they saw. So, like, when she's talking to the cop, and she's like, that's what you see is a big fat, when she's first talking to
Starting point is 00:24:34 Troy, she's like, come on, you know, see a big girl, though, you're like, damn, that is that is, the way she was ridden with, with being vulnerable about that, like, she wrote such a fine line because it's so easy to go into, like, self-pitying or
Starting point is 00:24:50 wallowing where it's like, dude, you're stuck here because you keep feeling fucking sorry for yourself. Like, that was so real, like, because the point of her she's like trying her best and trying to put on a happy face trying to be positive and be a better self while having all this like emotional hurt going on and she really made that feel very real a lot of this could have been melodramatic or sappy or pretentious but it didn't feel that way and i love the inverse of that of like like Troy's a fit guy but he's not like
Starting point is 00:25:22 you know i mean we didn't see about a shirt on but shirt off but Troy the the the the Oppositions of trying to shame someone into losing weight versus someone just being encouraging and being like, you are beautiful and like, let's go and walk. And like that empowerment actually working, like, she doesn't like end the movie with like she's, you know, a stick figure or some shit like that. But she's making progress and she's got to glow. I think that's just beautiful the way they ended that note with them. And that it ends on an empowering note as well to show the opposition. It really demonstrates some extra growth. Sorry, you got one out of that.
Starting point is 00:26:01 No, yeah, yeah. It's funny because when you said that, you're just like, Aaron's never talked to me about this. I felt myself tense up for a second. I was like, wait, yeah. No, I was like, that's part of the reason why I was so angry. Watching the way she was treated both on the plane and watching how Mike was treating her because I'm like, I definitely, you know, it's no secret. I'm both a very tall and large man.
Starting point is 00:26:26 And so watching her internal struggles really resonated with me. And, you know, I've had my definitely my balance with weight going up and down over the years. And it's tough. It's tough, man. And, you know, I've been in her shoes not feeling like, I spent a lot of my life feeling like I was fucking ugly because I was overweight. So to her be in this position, we're like, was at least I have somebody because I can't love my, if I can't. love myself. I'm just happy that somebody loves me. I'll take any love I can get because
Starting point is 00:27:00 they're there. They didn't leave. So for her to be so battered by this man who reinforces her own self-doubt. And I'm just, because from the outside perspective, you're like, why would she stay with this man? Why would she be with him? Just leave. But, you know, he has already, like, psychologically penetrated things that she probably had
Starting point is 00:27:20 within her, probably long before she met him. Or it was a self-fulfilling cycle of you know she was already self-conscious about her way he would make comment about it because she felt guilty or bad about it she would then further go into whatever her vices were only giving making a self-fulfilling prophecy making her problem worse rather than uplifting her encouraging her working with her being a true partner to her and watching someone like troy do those things gave her the the encouragement the light and the reassurance and reminder that she is worthy of love I think that is what created that sense of relief for her.
Starting point is 00:27:59 That's what gave her that glow. Not necessarily that, you know, I like to perceive it as like not only did his love give her that glow, but the sense that she will be okay, that she is enough. I think that's what really did it for her. And I'm happy. I'm happy that, you know, it's not something we really see a lot in movies. No. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Not non-Tylaherry movies, not normal Hollywood. with movies. In fact, a top pair of movies. I feel like we usually get like large jokes, you know. No, yeah. Which are fine. And I just, I appreciated a character like her. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:39 Real standout. Michael Jai White. He was great. Oh, my God. So funny. There's this whole other talent side to him. I am just so used to the badass Michael Jai White. Right.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Like the freak. Even in dramas I've caught him in, he's like a, a tough guy and so i expect i saw his name like i know he's have you ever seen black dynamite yeah yeah he's hilarious in that huh yeah he's so funny in that i quote him all the time is i don't remember his character too well is he just playing a guy or is he like very specific eccentric in some way so he so he is so he is so he is black dynamite and he is it's like a a black exploitation spoof so he does have his lines that are are more comedic and it's it's not in the same kind of that movie yeah it's it's not in the same way
Starting point is 00:29:27 he's comedic in this movie but it's it's more like um what's it's called exaggerated and this one's more like he's up dude yeah it's more heightened um but yeah he he is a mad comedy background but like to see him as just like a guy in a relationship where he's like scared of his wife and stuff like this guy seems so like a dude that i would meet and and yeah i'm used to more of the image of what michael jai white has been associated with generally right so to i forgot about black i'm entirely wow wow i don't remember that at all um have i seen that actually i've had that's a hilarious reaction i don't know if how we would do numbers wise but that no i'm thinking the wrong movie i'm thinking of the eddie murphy movie what's eddie murphy movie wesley snipes edie murphy that's what i'm
Starting point is 00:30:14 thinking about i haven't seen that one i don't know which one you're talking about is it eddie murphy The one I'm talking about It's like a black exploitation I can see the cover of black dynamite But I must be I think I'm mixing it up With the Eddie Murphy movie Eddie Murphy Wesley Sykes movie
Starting point is 00:30:29 It's a Netflix movie Oh my name is Dolomite That's what I'm thinking of Yeah that's what I'm thinking of Yeah Yeah He plays black dynamite He plays black dynamite
Starting point is 00:30:39 Yeah actually no I haven't seen black dynamite Oh my God it's so fun It's one of my favorites I can see the cover but Yeah You got to watch black dynamite i don't know if you do it for the channel just on your own it's fucking awesome but anyway um yeah i thought like their dynamics and that's what i mean like that i thought there was a an interesting
Starting point is 00:30:57 line there that they rode of him what's his wife's name in that movie in this movie um can you go back to the iov dv for a second please yeah yeah michael white's character angela marcus marcus and angela marcus and angela okay so like when they they cheat on each other and he might and he's got to be teased stuff and then he even goes to like choker at the at the table and it's like it's really big but there are those couples that like the heat you know it's really easy to look at couples and i'm not saying they're healthy i'm not but in a weird way i i actually so maybe someone in the comments can put into words better than what i can do right now love do my job with the comments up is that they the way they're able to find it like this real humor and relatability and like while they might be like troublesome and talks or you know they like they're crazy about each other though and and there's something um endearing like what i want to be around that couple oh my god the show's about them yeah they got a spin off show oh my god
Starting point is 00:32:18 i would love to watch that 170 episodes they are a they are a standout couple in here because there's something extremely unique about their dynamics where you look at them you're like this is like some unhealthy ass shit right here
Starting point is 00:32:33 but i want them together for some reason because they play off each other great and you can see the chemistry and um you know like my Olivia is nowhere near like like her but in our dynamics Olivia is known to be like she can
Starting point is 00:32:52 be a little bit more like the one the one who can like I want to say the wrong thing because I'm scared just going to attack me no I just want anything to get misinterpreted the way how she can be like stepping in time to kick some ass be a little bit more outspoken outspoken about things
Starting point is 00:33:10 make sure it gets to call out some bullshit right away like people have often been intimidated by her because of her willingness to be super blood no matter what mood or vibe of the room is she she'll do it she'll be super blunt and she'll even be like you're being stupid you know and yourself no matter what yeah yeah and she'll tell you that to me too and it and it helps so because unlike them at least them soon as movie we can have like a real dialogue about stuff as well as on top of that you know yeah um so there's like parts that's why
Starting point is 00:33:40 i like some of her toughness i thought was like the way she puts down trino right away and like i'm like that's like i love you totally would do like that's like fuck yeah Yeah, because most people would be too scared to, but she's like, no, it's not right. And because, and I think that's like the complicated part of, especially for like an Angela character, which is really hard to get done because, yeah, she says she does, she did, she does belittle him. She does, she doesn't admit that she cheated on him. But there's also all these other qualities that are of the same person of why you want this person around in your life. because they're going to have your back as a friend. They're going to be loyal and they're going to stand up ultimately when they see something wrong is happening.
Starting point is 00:34:26 And sometimes the things that make someone great can also have bad sides to them. And it's about how to work on those bad sides, not eliminate the good, but work on the bad that might come along with that package. And so I think that's kind of like the whole movie with all these characters is they all have flaws. They all have flaws. They've all made some choices that were maybe not good choices And they're all paying consequences and suffering for it But I think in terms of their dynamic I love how it doesn't end on like we are super healthy
Starting point is 00:34:57 You don't know what's really going to happen with them But you feel like they should make it work They work despite the odds And their chemistry is amazing as a couple And I think there's something really relatable and funny About their dialogue like she cooked for me She's gonna kill me today Like I love she does it so nice
Starting point is 00:35:15 And his first reaction is to call his friend and be like, she's trying to kill me. It's so funny. It's so offensive too. Yeah. Oh, man. This was so good. I thought this was a great experience. I really,
Starting point is 00:35:28 I love this one a lot. I genuinely loved it too. And, you know, I hope you guys liked us watching this too because we'd love to watch the sequel. It might be like five minutes too long. Okay. That's fair. That's what I would say. If I'm going to be a nitpicky, just to piss people off.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I enjoyed staying with him. It didn't bother me. I was surprised that, okay, I didn't know where the movie was going after we left the house because it seemed like there's going to be one of those movies after, you know, the beginning part where it was just like, we're going to resolve this, we're going to have our issues and then we're going to leave at the end. Yeah, you know what? I take it back because every time I thought like, I feel like we should be like wrapping this up by now.
Starting point is 00:36:06 They would then give us a moment or a scene that I would love. Yeah. Like the whole like ending it off at the Patricia event. You know, there were some parts. I was like, okay, is this moment going on a little too long? Like, but the vast majority of it, I loved what we were saying. But shit, man. Is everyone returning?
Starting point is 00:36:25 Everyone returned to the sequel, huh? I don't see Troy. No. Where's Troy? Troy was the butthole. No, Mike. No, where's Troy's not in that toaster? Yeah, he is.
Starting point is 00:36:37 He's right there. Oh, there's Troy. Mike didn't return. At least he's not going to be one of the main characters. That's Troy and then that's, um, the she went to more sense. Yeah. where is an institution they're committed to why did i get married too yeah the box office on this before we go oh yeah that's one down oh why did i get married box office i got you there is
Starting point is 00:36:57 you're faster than me i'm not serious there you go 55 million okay damn but he makes his move for cheap so they can like that it makes like serious profit though. Yeah. I'm happy for him. That's great. It was any fun facts we can find. Oh, yeah. That's good. I'm curious to know what I got in Rotten Tomatoes also. Do we want to do that? I think after watching Daddy's little girls and this one, it was one of those cases where I'm like, I see why Tyler Perry is a little stubborn against critics. because sometimes I do get the
Starting point is 00:37:40 I would bet this is not have good reviews I'm gonna do a surprise thing for you I would bet the audience score is great I would bet the critic score is not good we're gonna see I don't know the Tyler Perry movie that has been well received by critics okay what do you think the critic score is
Starting point is 00:37:59 for this movie can you just tell me if it's fresh around do you want to know that much I don't okay I'll be nice I'll say, I'll say the critics, because I love this movie, but what would the critics say? What do critics generally say? I would say this is like 50%. Okay. Audience, I would say like 85.
Starting point is 00:38:19 You're okay, not far off. Critics, 49%. Wow. Okay. That being said, it's only 41 reviews. Okay. And audience was 78. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Fair. Yeah. I think it's better than both of those, but hey. i don't know what they were saying yeah i thought this was awesome i mean maybe back then 2007 but who knows that's weird a lot a lot a way a movie like movies can be received can really change depending on time of life here and at the time true um gavin's comment to margars sort of the phone you have nothing to worry about unless she's cooking grits is a reference to medea's family reunion yep when she threw the grits
Starting point is 00:38:59 that's why medea should have made a cameo should have through the grits Tyler Perry's first self-traumatic role. Sometimes when he's yelling, I could hear Medea. He's like getting mad at his wife. I could hear it. Oh, I did catch that. That's funny. That's a many fun facts on here.
Starting point is 00:39:14 No. There's, oh, it's a stage play. Oh, it is a stage play. Oh, snap. Oh, man. Didn't it feel that way at all. No. With the amount of locations and time-based man, I would never have guessed I was a play.
Starting point is 00:39:27 I wonder with a change in the adaptation. Huh. Okay. I think, I mean, he's evolved as a filmmaker. or he's has to happen because the first two Medea movies did feel especially the first one felt like a play yeah that was being shot and um but i remember when we saw medea go to jail didn't feel that way and the last we watched definitely don't feel like that guy that is girls and i feel like a play now yeah all right well we're good man we can't watch team america now
Starting point is 00:39:52 all right we're going to do another reaction um but yeah this was why did i get married thank you guys for watching we will see you guys the next one doces Thank you.
