Hey, I'm Seth Shackner.
Check out my new show, Breaking Down the Biz.
Every week, I sit down with people who actually make movies, music, and media happen.
Executives from Sony, Universal, Apple, NBC.
Together, we cut through industry jargon and hype to show you how the business is built.
What's key to making everything come together and why it matters to you.
From iTunes impact on the music industry to the advent of AI, from the Taylor's
Swift ticket sales fiasco to Bad Bunny's
Meteoric Rise, we break down the stories, the numbers,
and the negotiations that shape the industry.
I've been in the trenches of the entertainment
industry for several decades with leadership roles
at companies like Sony, Paramount, and Jive Records.
My guests and I are going to provide the same thoughtful,
concise insights that I'm trusted to bring on TV networks
like CNN and NBC surrounding the industry
and its culture-defining moments.
We'll touch on the business of music, filmmaking,
and streaming, and the
the emerging technology of our time. If you've ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes
of the entertainment business, this is a bite-sized insider guide. Subscribe now on your favorite
podcast platform or watch us on YouTube so you never miss a beat. Let's make sense of this industry
together. Fellow reject, did you know that a few years ago, we actually, for real, had some
hacking and identity issues tied to our online accounts here. It was a massive headache, so ever since then,
internet security very serious around here because browsing the internet without protection is basically
like sending a private message to a giant group full of strangers. That's why we champion private
internet access today's sponsor. They are a VPN, which means it hides your IP address and
encrypts your internet connection so that way hackers, internet providers and trackers cannot snoop
on your data. And for what we do at Real Rejects, it is huge.
for accessibility. Streaming libraries change depending on where you're at. PIA lets you connect to 91
countries in all 50 states, opening up more content, needless to say. And what makes them stand out
amongst the rest is their transparency. Their apps are open source. Their no logs policy has been
proven in court and independently audited by Deloitte. And one of the best parts, one subscription
protects unlimited devices. They've had over 30 million downloads and signing up is risk-free
with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
And today, Rejects, you can get 83% off
plus four months free at P-I-A-V-N.com slash rejects.
Once again, that's P-I-A-V-P-N.com slash rejects.
Thank you, private internet access,
for helping protect our data
and for sponsoring this video.
Citizens of the Reject Nation,
I'm wanted.
Tell them.
We just watched Wanted.
It was.
Awesome.
Yeah.
We're going to talk about it.
Good times.
But before we do that, a couple things.
Number one, like, comment, subscribe.
Yeah.
If you're on Apple, Spotify, leave that five stars.
Number two, we have a thank you to give.
Prepper.
Thanks for helping edit things down.
And I only am saying thank you.
She said, edit things down.
Yeah, because I'm only saying thank you.
If you guys edited out the part that you know what I did.
If you guys saw what I did, then no, thank you.
Thank you to Prepper.
If you didn't see what I did, thank you to Prepper.
You know what I mean?
Jelly Meem.
I know exactly what she means.
Thank you to Preper regardless.
You guys rock.
Appreciate you.
And thank you to you guys at home.
If you guys aren't already following us at Real Rejects across all social media, that's
where that good juice is.
True.
Honestly, we have been ramping up and up and up all year.
And then we're going to look at everything and see what we're going to do for
26, so leave your feedback over there about social stuff.
All right, Tara, we're going to get to some patron questions, but before we do that,
just a brief overview from you wanted, yay or nay?
Yeah.
Loved it.
Great action scenes.
I've actually missed seeing Angelina Jolie on the screen.
She hasn't been around in a minute.
She's great.
So is James McAvoy.
I love the writing.
Writing was really smart.
There's some choice didn't see coming.
Loved it.
Great time.
Great pacing.
Great editing.
Well, behind the scenes, something here for a second.
Okay.
We're in a little bit of trouble because for some reason,
they think that we're starting wanted at two,
but we didn't.
And so I think they're filling in the dock now.
Oh.
Which is why we only have the...
No, sometimes these are like off.
Well, I mean, you might be right.
Because you see how it says 2 o'clock?
Mm-hmm.
I think it's fine.
I mean, I can also check page.
true, but.
All right.
I don't.
Yeah.
All right, while you're checking page on, let me tell you guys.
Yeah.
My thoughts in the movie are that that was awesome.
I'm like absolutely exhausted today and this kept my attention fully through.
I'm going one back to back to back shoots today.
And I was like, oh, wanted.
How is this going to do?
And listen, I thought that James McAvoy, I thought that I was going to be waving about
Angelina and Jolie afterwards, which I am.
But James McAvoy carried the F out of this movie.
I mean, he couldn't have been cool.
or better.
This was just like absolutely badass and like just better than I even thought that it could be.
So let's get into Patreon questions.
I think there's a couple extra of them in here.
Okay.
So let me just, yeah, let me just double check.
Yeah.
Sorry, one second.
I guess there's that she eject one.
Captain is not in there, I don't think.
Captain Sanrak.
Hold on.
Captain.
Why don't I just read them straight from here?
Craig.
Okay.
Let's just read them straight from here.
Go. And then, yeah, okay.
Here we go. Thanks to the patrons.
Captain Fernandez for wanted.
This is an incredibly dumb movie.
I mean that the best way possible,
action scenes are utterly ridiculous,
but in a genre like this
where everything they've done
before ridiculousness is a virtue,
are you guys surprised we didn't get a sequel,
especially when you consider the comic book
is based on shares the same universe
as Kingsman and Kickass Series.
I didn't know that.
I didn't know that.
I'm a fan of Kingsman and I covered Kickass here for this channel.
So that's really cool to know.
That makes sense.
It's in the same universe.
I'm glad that you let us know this is a comic book.
I didn't know that.
And that makes sense too because remember at the beginning,
I was like, this is like a superhero thing with the glass jump.
So that totally checks out.
I actually didn't really find this dumb.
I like, I get what you're saying where you can jump through the window and fly.
And like, you know, bullets can bend and use the force.
but I just found it dope.
Yeah.
I'm with you actually
and now that you've shared
that it's considered a comic book
it makes it even less dumb
because it's like
we've had the superhero aspects to it
that you're like oh that all makes sense.
To answer your question on are we surprised
it didn't get a sequel?
I would say the answer is yes.
Yeah, especially because of how it ends.
Yeah, I thought for sure the way we're seeing it
I was like oh there has to be a wanted two right?
And I was excited to watch it with you.
Yeah.
Maybe we should make it.
Dang, man.
Here we go.
I love to.
Jay Rushden.
Question, who's your favorite actor in this movie?
Because it was a large cast for the movie there.
I mean, I don't really think there's ever a movie that you can say Morgan Freeman isn't your favorite actor in the movie.
Like, you know, he's just like the greatest of all time.
But I think it's probably other than that, James McFoy really steals it for me.
Me too.
I was going to say, James.
Of course.
I mean, I just adore him.
After that, it would be Angelina because she's great too.
But James McAvoy is like the heart of this movie.
He really is.
I need you to scrolly-polioli.
Yes, yes.
It's not paying attention.
This one.
Okay.
Sanrak, what a fun absurdist movie this is to me.
To me, this is, to me, hopefully to both of you too.
What makes James McAvoy so damn charming is that too obvious a question?
Okay, a two-part question.
What absurdist aspect of the movie?
Did you like the most?
I'm thinking of the keyboard
you moment at the beginning, for example.
I like that too.
Did you, let's try what makes him so charming.
Oh, God.
I mean, he's...
Maybe because he has an accent,
we know that,
even though he does it in this.
And the confidence.
Yeah.
He's also very funny.
Like, and I think that it makes him very charming.
Like in the line where he's like,
we can't kill this woman.
It's a dead woman.
She might be somebody's mom.
And I laughed out loud.
I know.
I was like,
that was great.
He's also objectively hot.
Absolutely.
So that does help with charm.
And then we're talking about the absurdist aspects of the movie.
Yeah,
I liked it in the FU.
Car and Train.
Yeah,
car and train was great.
Jumping out of the window.
And she made fun of me.
She's like,
I know you think this is fast in the furious.
And it didn't like legit happen.
Although I did think she was going to find a way to jump the car on top of it, not go through it, but I'm fine with either.
It was a great shout by you for sure.
This isn't, Craig, this isn't specific to this movie, but I'm happy to answer this.
What happened to horror Thursday was a she jacks.
That's the main reason I'm subscribed.
We love to hear that.
We love that.
Don't you worry.
We're not going anywhere.
Right now, I believe, I don't think this, when you're watching this, you probably, we're probably back on Horror Thursday.
because we just, as the real rejects responded,
you scream should be starting shortly.
And we have been expanding, doing a lot of action films.
Yeah.
So, or PLD responded that.
And we were, but horrors are bread and butter.
And we will always come back to horror Thursdays.
Yeah.
So they might even keep us on both.
Tell them you want us on Hort Thursdays and Action Venture Fridays because we're down.
Yeah, totally agreed.
Shooting the terrorists, the honor and privilege of my life.
I think that's it.
That's it.
Can you go back to the, yeah, let's see.
in the, I'm sorry,
known the Patreon questions
from the doc.
Oh, yes.
Just, I want to just.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This and then,
yeah, we did.
Yeah.
All right, friends.
Thank you for being here with us
as that last question
about the Sheejects.
We just answered,
shejacks ain't going nowhere.
So don't forget,
get our merch,
leave nice comments.
Let us know what Chejjjek movie
wanted to cover next,
consider it's not a wanted to
and we thought there was.
We thought there was.
And the more they hear from you guys,
the more they'll put us on
on,
stuff, you know, together and keep us here for, you know, Hort Thursdays, actually in Venture Fridays,
we're like, we're happy to be there.
Or maybe you guys want to see us on.
I don't know what the other days are because I don't cover them, but yeah, maybe they're
some kind of musical rom-com thing.
Yeah, thing.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, before I just say more useless words, Tara, anything else?
No, I thought this movie was a lot of fun.
There are a lot of comedic points in here where I laughed, except it didn't feel,
corny because it's James McAvoy and he's very believable. So I love this movie. I'm like,
yeah, I wanted, I'm glad I got to watch it with D Rocks and good times. Me too. All right. Later,
Rejects.
