Wedding Crashers Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, & Spoiler Review!! Join Aaron Alexander and Tara Erickson as they crash the 2005 smash-hit comedy Wedding Crashers, directed by David Dobkin. Owen Wilson stars as John Beckwith (best known for Midnight in Paris and Starsky & Hutch), and Vince Vaughn plays his partner-in-crime Jeremy Grey (celebrated for Dodgeball and The Internship). The duo—specialists in charming their way into weddings—targets the high-society Cleary celebration, only to find themselves genuinely smitten and tangled in a web of deception. They’re joined by Rachel McAdams as Claire Cleary (famed for Mean Girls and The Notebook), whose earnest sweetness challenges John’s playboy ways, and Isla Fisher as her vivacious sister Gloria (recognized for Confessions of a Shopaholic and Tag), who tests Jeremy’s con-artist confidence. Christopher Walken steals every scene as the intimidating Uncle Wayne (Oscar-winner for The Deer Hunter), while Bradley Cooper brings sleazy charm as the blustering Sack Lodge (known for Silver Linings Playbook and The Hangover). Aaron & Tara break down the most unforgettable moments including The Perils of Dating, Football with the Clearys, Lock it Up, Motorboating, & Beyond. Join us as we dissect the sharp one-liners, the surprising romantic twists, and the duo’s ultimate con that lands them exactly where they never expected: facing the music at their own wedding! Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode is brought to you by Adidas. When the frustration grows and the doubts start to creep in, we all need someone who has our back. To tell us, we'll be okay, to remind us of our ability, to believe, because their belief in us transfers to self-belief and reminds us of all that we're capable of. We all need someone to make us believe.
Starting point is 00:00:19 Hashtag, you got this. Stop. Do you know how fast you were going? I'm going to have to write you a ticket to my new movie, The Naked Gun. Liam Nissan. Buy your tickets now and get a free chili dog. Chili dog, not included.
Starting point is 00:00:33 The naked god, tickets on sale now. August 1st. There is the froe habitual, and there is the frow of the mountains blue. The froy at its summit. Cruise Light, you've envue a fraud.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Celebrate in a fashion responsible, you have to have the age legal for consuming the alcohol. This week's videos are brought to you by Price Picks. More on them and just a bit. But you guys, we're going to get into us. Without further ado, here comes the bride.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Go! Oh, my gosh, guys. We did it. We did it. If you like the wet and grass of reaction, you're going to want to go to Apple and Spotify and give us five freaking stars, all right? Tara. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Te-dog. How you feeling? I'm feeling good. I really I loved that film it was so much fun um can you turn down the music just a little bit so I can think I need to think um I think what I like the most about this film is is honestly how funny it is yes they could never make this movie today with the script and where it is now with um but I really, really liked how they added in these genuine moments of like people looking at someone else and feeling a connection and feeling like there is love there without saying anything in
Starting point is 00:02:12 between all this like crazy, hectic comedy. And it was a really fun bait and switch, the fact that Vince Fond ends up really falling for the redhead, right? Before we're like, we got to get out of here. And with his crazy monologue to the grandpa, I just thought this was so well written. And I really like the change in both of the characters. I mean, first of all, Vince Vaughn's like,
Starting point is 00:02:40 I'm never getting married. This is the dumbest decision ever. And then he falls for the girl. And I'm sure Owen Wilson probably said the same thing in them crashing weddings. But you throughout the length of this film, obviously see them grow. But it's really just because,
Starting point is 00:02:56 they found love finally after like eight years of crashing weddings wherever long they said which is so long um but i think what i appreciate the most is those like genuine moments especially between owen and rachel macadams i just thought when we were there with them i wanted to see more of it and you could really feel it like it was a really good genuine connection i felt like they had great chemistry on screen so at the end when you see him get together you're like yay and they really did a good job of painting Bradley Cooper as an
Starting point is 00:03:33 absolute just ugh the worst so you just can't wait to knock out so that's so it is like vengeance served when he knocks him out it's great yeah I love it yeah this film was awesome I am so happy
Starting point is 00:03:49 we watched it after years of not knowing anything about wedding crash or just the title and the lead to the movie and the surprises were genuine. I had no clue whatsoever that Bradley Cooper or Will Thorell was in this movie. This movie was hilarious. It still holds the test of time. And it's one of those things where, you know, we watched a lot of movies here. We watched a lot of different types of movies. Comedy being one of them and comedy is a very subjective experience. Now, me and Tara have laughed a lot. And we've also seen some stuff that has not made us laugh. And I feel like the fact that this movie is one of the
Starting point is 00:04:22 ones that made us laugh a lot. It's just a testament to how the writing was and how great the chemistry was between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, as well as the rest of the cast, too. Ila Fisher and Amy Adams still got it. You know, most of these castes are, most of the people are still relevant, like, you know, within the zeitgeist of Hollywood. Some of them even more so, like Bradley Cooper. I think he wasn't even the name Bradley Cooper as we know him today by the time this movie was out. I think this is like 2004. someone 106 someone around there um but yeah really enjoyed it uh largely he meant he meant rachel mcadams not amy you said amy did i say amy adams yeah rachel mic adams you know
Starting point is 00:05:04 some adams in this hollywood space but yeah i i thoroughly enjoyed it i was caught off guard by the heart because it was starting off with such this fast-paced high joke volume raunchy comedy for that to come in with this genuine heart genuine connection turned into a rom-com was really surprising to me, you know, they, they started off crashing weddings for their own, you know, egos or whatnot and then ended up finding love along the way. And I think that's beautiful. And that's awesome and unexpected. And I wonder if that's happened in real life to any degree. I will say the one thing that I wasn't, it's not that I didn't, it was an issue per se because I just did know what the runtime was going into this movie. I felt like it was like maybe like 15,
Starting point is 00:05:52 20 minutes too long but you know the the journey itself was was entertaining and it was about the moral lessons that Owen Wilson kind of learned along the way because even though they started off as kind of like equal leads it kind of felt like Owen Wilson was the heart of the movie and you know I didn't have a problem with that he sells that role very well he's very genuine as a performer and so as Rachel McAdams so I think their chemistry was very very palpable over the course of the film and Bradley Cooper is very good at playing a just despicable human being and you know that's awesome that's great chrisper walkin was an unexpected surprise as well wasn't a ton of comedy coming from him i think he was just a very
Starting point is 00:06:33 supportive father and think that's that's awesome you know he plays that role very well and i just like the fact that it was this balance between jokes that were written and jokes that were more improvisational and will real feral i know i mentioned him at the beginning there but he was hilarious that scene though unexpected and I think just used that situation to kind of bring home that feeling that Owen Wilson was missing even though you know it seemed like that was something kind of prevalent because he's been trying at it for months at this point I think it was just a fun little add on to what was already prevalent within Owen Wilson's character and the whole meatloaf bit was was hilarious and dying and I'm surprised I ever made a I never made a
Starting point is 00:07:20 sequel called the funeral crashes because that could also has the potential to be very funny yeah yeah I had a I had a good time with this one
Starting point is 00:07:28 I'm happy that I now understand the references and jokes 2005 that's when it came out that's when it came out guys yeah I loved it I dare I say dare I say I loved it
Starting point is 00:07:40 I was gonna say that if they had cut any any 15 minutes out it would have been oh my God what's his name Will Farrell It would have been all of Will Ferris stuff
Starting point is 00:07:54 because basically it was like where you where they finally make up as friends and he's like you better be in that winning we could have easily you know cut to that and where he's arriving and the rest happens but I think in order to make it shorter you would have cut that out but it's like it's so great because he's also looking at himself through a mirror of like this is what I'm gonna
Starting point is 00:08:16 this is what my future looks like 100% yeah and I'd like that moment And I think we very much needed it when he is looking at the wife who was crying. She's going through real grief in order for him to make a speech that actually feels well written. And it's very, it's meaningful and it's genuine. It has some like real juice in it when he's talking to Rachel McAdams versus like, I just knew when I first saw you that I, you know, I loved you and we joked or whatever. I really liked that he added in that that line of that there I don't have anyone that I love that I could lose yet.
Starting point is 00:08:59 And he's like, because I don't want to lose you. I really like that, that speech. And I think Isla Fisher, amazing job, really, really great in this film. Just an absolute roller coaster of a performance. It was really, really good. I loved it. Um, and yeah, I don't, I don't really know much else to say about this, except that there's an obvious reason why it is a staple, why people are like wedding crashers.
Starting point is 00:09:32 And now I'm like, oh, totally, totally get it. I'm, I'm assuming in 2005, whatever, it was a huge hit. Um, and I wonder what, when was the notebook made? I think of four, the year before this. So, okay. So Rachel McAdams was already like getting famous off that. I think that was her first film. And then she goes right into Wedding Crashers, which is great.
Starting point is 00:09:58 So, yeah, I love it. It's a good times. I wish that they made a funeral Crashers movie. But I think if they made it now, let's say it's been 20 years, right? I would not like it if it wasn't the witty banter and the absolute perfect pacing. between Owen Wilson and Vince Fawn. Springs here, baseball's in full swing, and if you're looking to make watching games even more exciting.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Check out prize picks, our go-to in the Daily Fantasy Sports category. The reason this household is owner prize picks is because it's super easy to use. You just pick more or less on player staff projections like strikeouts, home runs, or hits, baseball terms, for your chance to win up to 1,000 times your entry. And unlike a lot of other apps, you can mix players from baseball and other sports
Starting point is 00:10:45 like basketball, hockey, and even e-sports. My wife is the ones especially in a fantasy sport, so we've been playing price picks for a while now. And we love how quick it is to set up a lineup. This week, we grab Shohei Otani for more than one home run and Julio Rodriguez for more than one stolen base. Let's see if my gutta, but my gut, I mean, my wife's gut is right. Another thing, too, they invented the flex play, which lets you still cash out even if one of your picks doesn't hit. And the payouts fast, safe, and secure. We've got an ours in under 15 minutes.
Starting point is 00:11:10 So what you can do is download the app today and use code rejects. You get $50 instantly after you play your first $5 lineup. that's code rejects, $50 instantly after your first $5 lineup. Price picks, run your game, people. I would hate it. Because comedic pacing, it's just, it's everything in a comedy. And most of the time, directors can't really direct comedic pacing. You just have to have someone who comedy comes to them and you just know how to banter.
Starting point is 00:11:43 You just feel the pacing in your body. and I think they obviously had that and it would be it'd be so fun to see them as like old and crashing funerals like wouldn't that be such a fun idea it would be part of me I would love that yeah part of me wants that and the other part of me is like oh they'd have to undo what they did in this movie to make the premise work I know right I'm going to look up some some trivia let me let me look at the uh what's it called I'm to show you the rotten tomatoes score. Okay, great.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Rotten tomato score. They were a lot more harsh back then when it comes to these different movies. Wedding Crashers, Rotten Tomato score. Okay. All right. I'll go first. What do you think this got critically and what do you think that the audience gave it? Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Critically, I'm going to assume, I mean, they're weird. like 79 and I'm going to assume audience was 89. Okay. You're fairly close. Critics, 75. Uh-huh. Audience, 70. 70.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Lower than the critics. Interesting. Wild. You know what? Maybe in 2005, I don't know. Like, maybe it was too raunchy. That seems weird to attach like a raunchiness and like, oh, it's too much to a certain year.
Starting point is 00:13:13 but I'm like, it might have been just too aggressive in your face with the jokes that the audience was like, or maybe they weren't, but I'm like, it's rated R. Yeah. Right? So I'm like, you know, come on now. Yeah, no, some of them wouldn't fly today. I thought the whole bedroom stuff. Not at all. Not at all.
Starting point is 00:13:33 There's so many things that, that, I mean, that's what I was saying, like, it couldn't be made today with a lot of, of the jokes and the bedroom stuff and all of that. not all of the jokes but you guys get it um it's not it's not made for the pc environment of the 2020s right um okay let's get into trivia so Christopher walkin and rachel macadams are dancing at the engagement party walking kept saying fart to keep mcadams smiling after dancing had become quite repetitive um the painting given to Vince fawn by kiro donnell was kept by von after filming He actually kept it. I love that. I hope it's hanging in this house somewhere.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Oh, my God. This is so great. Owen Wilson actually came up with the line. I think we only use 10% of our hearts. It's so good. That was so funny. I love that. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Rachel McAdams got her certificate in sailing to prepare for her role. Wow. She says she can now handle. Guess how many feet boat? It's not like an insane. sane but a 20 foot boat good job 26 oh shoot okay it looked very big yeah um she she rachel was listening repeatedly to flea wood max song landslide to prepare for her emotional scenes on wilson said the song made her cry immediately it was like turning on a faucet
Starting point is 00:15:00 okay this is a peek into how rachel mcadams gets ready for her her like sad scenes where she's got to bring the juice. She listens to Landslide. I wonder if that song still works for her all these years later. I know, right. I was 20 years ago. This movie came out.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Yeah. That would be good to know. I bet. Like, it's probably like, uh, because that song, I mean,
Starting point is 00:15:22 it is a sad song. Um, but I would be, uh, yeah, exactly. Um, okay,
Starting point is 00:15:29 the, at the wedding, the guy sitting next to Owen Wilson who laughed at the jabroney joke was Wilson's uncle. Yeah. Okay. Is that God? Nice.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Oh my God. Okay. Okay. Following complaints from the United States Congress, the producers of the film yanked the movie's official website, a printable Purple Heart, advertise as a gimmick to pick up women and get free drinks. Wow. That's crazy. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Yeah, you can't do that. All right. Digital marketing. That's kind of hilarious. Yeah, right. Owen and Vince did improvise the lock it up banter. Lock it up. That seemed improvised, right?
Starting point is 00:16:13 Let's see if I can get to maybe a spoiler or two. If there are any, there's not really any spoilers in here, but maybe one last one. Let's see. Yeah. And this movie, Vince Vaughn says the line, time to recharge the batteries. It is set again in the internship, also starring Owen and Vaughn, but instead is said by Wilson. That's fun. They maybe just, like, threw it back and forth.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I'm sure that, oh, yeah, and Will Farrer played also Chaz and Blades of Glory. And he played Chaz in this. Did he? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've never seen that one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:51 But it looks like. Plades of Glory spoiler. Oh, yeah. I've only seen it once a long time. I don't remember it, but you have his name, but that's it. It's a good one. You should react to that one. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:02 I'm going to say that it looks like the rest of the trivia is saying a lot like that. that Vince threw in this line or they came up with this thing. So it seems like obviously Vince and Owen like we were seeing at the beginning. It felt like improv because there are banters right off the top, which is great. So it seems like they got free reign to sort of add intakes and they were obviously used, which is great. Yes. Also, I didn't say a thank you to pray for for cutting down these highlights and in videos.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Watch, cha-cha. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. you guys are the best yeah yeah um that was great that was a lot of fun fun times man fun times fun times uh thank you guys so much for watching go to rejagnation shop dot com yes please get it get it get it let's watch geeks and if you want to watch reality go to my youtube channel i've been watching reality over there could use the support the likes the views love you guys if you go and join me

Jameson, we're going to send you on a mission. Should you choose to accept it? And you will or else you're fired. That's how it works here at IMF. This mission, should you choose to accept it again?
Starting point is 00:18:21 No pressure. But if you don't, you're fired and your family is murdered. This mission is a very dangerous one. It's going to self-destruct in about 30 seconds. Oh, man. By the time you see this, it'll probably have already self-destructive. So here's what we're going to do. You got 30 seconds to hear the mission.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I'm going to set a timer. Set timer for 30 seconds. 30 seconds. Let's do it one more time. Some more time. Some more time. Sorry. It's an airplane mode.
Starting point is 00:18:52 This is how it would go in a real life mission. All right. 30 seconds. Three, two, one. We got, okay, 30 seconds are starting. We got 30 seconds to explain this mission. Yes. And if you do not understand how this mission goes down,

Can you hear? Sorry, sometimes on Zoom it doesn't quite work. But don't turn up too high so other people can hear it. We just need to spit it out. Steal the plan.
