yeah
that's a cool ending all right all right that's a cool ending we actually have some
stakes because it's hard when the stakes are like it's going to change every episode
because yeah he's definitely intervened before he got away with it he's gotten away with
it man that's crazy a watu's getting watched yeah but you got to hold the watu accountable
man you're just supposed to watch that's in the name you're just supposed to
watch. You're not the doer. You're not the invulver. Yeah, you're being a bitch. You're the
watcher. Dude. Dude. Dude. Not the intervener. Reject Nation. I'm here to interrupt this video just for a
little bit to let you know that for a limited time at rejagnation shop.com, we have exclusive
apparel, just like the one I am wearing right now on my body. This is a reject sweater,
the brainchild of the she-jacks, Tara Erickson and Roxy Stryer. They really were like, you know,
we don't want to just only do a Christmas one. We want it to
be a full holiday celebration. I absolutely love this design. I've been wearing this sweater
an awful lot wherever I go. It's a fantastic thing for you to gift yourself or to gift to someone
else this holiday season. And the other things that were launched were to the brainchild of one
Aaron Alexander, something that I was jealous that I never thought of. And that is the Scar Bucks
Coffee. They got the Scarbucks hoodie. They got the Scarbucks Coffee mug. There's also the Rejects
mug as well. There's also an addition to that the Agatha Bruce hoodie. I absolutely adore all
these designs, I am so impressed with the three of them. We're able to concoct, along with the
amazing artists to help support them, of course. We really care about finding material that fits
very comfortable. Is it comfortable or comfortably? Language. And on top of that, too,
designs that we really feel resonate with us and can also resonate with those who watch us.
You beautiful reject citizens. There's a barcode here that you can scan if you want to go to
the shop, or you can go to Rejectnationshop.com. Treat yourself or treat someone else.
Either way, it's a great way to support the channel and to support your wardrobe collection.
Coy, what did you think about this episode?
I love that Mysterio, a Steve Ditko, Stan Lee, Spider-Man villain.
Oh, my God.
You lost me at Comic.
I know, I said names.
I said two names.
I said four words that were names.
Greg was out.
But they're not filmmakers or screenwriters.
No.
You lost me at a comic-vail.
So it's, you know.
Steve Dickko and Stanley invented Mysterio in the 60s.
And I have always liked that he's a character that took place in a cinematic-type tone.
He was a failed special effects artist, and you tried to meet me, and you failed.
I thought you were muting me.
No, Coy, not everything's about you.
Well, you'd ask me about me, what I thought.
I know, but that was satire.
Oh, this is sincerity.
Okay.
Here I am.
So, in the 60s, when they invented him, I always loved that he was a special effects artist
that was, you know, dealing with 60s special effects and, like, ooh, he uses smoke bombs.
And I love personally, right, like, that sits the 60s.
I love that in the 60 years, the character has evolved.
Jake Gyllenholm played a, I think, futurist take on Mysterio,
because that movie came out four or five years ago,
and it is more and more prevalent as a character.
We are entering an age that we've known was coming for years,
and we've known, even when they made the movie,
there would be a time when we don't know what reality is.
And we are approaching it more and more every day,
and I love the idea of having that as a movie.
cautionary tale through villainy. I think that the power of the comic book medium is to
raise awareness for things to prepare us for the future. So I loved that we have the tech
genius Riri Williams. We've got magic and, you know, magic is just technology we don't understand
yet. So you blend all these magicians with Riri Williams, but then you've got the overarching
omnipotent fear of technology that we just can't control. So I think Mysterio has become a really
cool villain over the 60 years as technology has exponentially increased they've increased the power
of the character so to see him used here in a to scale exponential increase in a dystopian world was
pretty red dude dude i concur with all those points he concurreds common book names and all
yeah people wrote things they drew them and they got names here we credited them now disney
owns their souls those poor four fellows yeah i thought that
This was a good installment of the season.
I like to see in the use of white vision and terror that he can be
when they treated him like a ghost in a haunted hotel scenario was great.
Having Sharon Carter come back.
Actually, voice by him leaving Kim.
Actually being a freaking power program.
Doing something.
God damn.
Doing after we teased him for a whole season.
That was like 10 years ago when that happened.
Like, what the hell?
The world was under lockdown when that happened.
There's a long-ass time.
It's freaking Sharon Carlin.
I'm like, oh, yeah, that big, power broker.
The massive twists in that big Disney Plus show.
I thought was really cool.
And I do feel a little bit of the producer note and like, hey, you know, like,
hey, kick your first episode off with Caps in America, Anthony Mackey, because, you know,
that's our next movie coming out.
Oh, we got the art show coming out.
Oh, we got white vision coming up next.
I mean, for all, I could be wrong.
I could be very wrong.
I feel, I feel like I'm completely right, though, and I have zero down.
I'm wrong.
I feel like I'm completely right.
I am 100% right.
I could be wrong.
Would you cast out the possibility that I could be wrong in this scenario?
Absolutely.
Could be.
It could be wrong.
But not likely.
So seeing the,
seeing Ruru Williams get an episode dedicated to her.
Yeah,
this actually didn't make,
but weirdly,
as much as the cynicism of I can hear the producer note kick in,
it did make me go,
oh,
you know,
what did do a do number on me?
I would look forward to it.
And do you like the character moral?
I would look forward to it.
I are hard.
Yeah.
Yeah, because I was not part of the camp, as much as I thought the visual effects were a little wonky in Black Panther, Baconda, Forever.
I was not part of the group of people who really wasn't a fan of, there were people who really didn't like Rie Rue Williams being included in Black Panther of O'Connor Forever.
And I liked her in that quite a bit.
And some of people like separate it going like, I liked her performance, but I didn't think she was necessary.
I could kind of meet you there, but I actually really enjoyed her presence in that movie.
And I haven't cared about the Iron Heart show still, though.
Even in spite of that, I haven't cared about it.
Is it like the footage you've seen?
I haven't seen any of the footage.
Oh, okay.
So I was, oh yeah, it was D23 and that was like three years ago.
Yeah, so I haven't really cared about it, but this did do its job of going, oh, yeah, actually, you know what, I am looking forward to it.
And I agree to, like, Mysterio, this feels, it's weird, it's kind of strange, because Mysterio and Spider-Man far from home is not the Mysterio that I grew up knowing.
and this isn't either
but I guess it's closer
due to solely
him being like
master illusionists over the world
and this and the power that can come
from that
I guess
I mean he literally got Wolverine convinced
that you know people did some shit and he caused Wolverine
to like lose his money to kill a lot like that
that is Mysterio
it's just power scaling
yes so getting
and then like you like and plus you
must you're inspired my far from home looks and sounds like jillan hall this actually
looks like the quits it back that i know yeah you know like oh that's where you went into visual
effects and not in front of the camera because you look like that yeah that's rough times the
bull cut fell off yeah didn't work out for you uh so i i enjoyed a lot of that and i think it's like
an episode installment really solid stuff there's something about this season in particular
that i am having a bit of a harder time connecting with because last season
I remember you and I were like kind of falling in love.
Yeah.
Now we're at episode five, I will say I was more in by this point in episode in season two.
I was you, I think we were like way like we were making love with the show.
It was like it was like a through line.
Season two felt like there was a trajectory that connected things and it was leading to something.
This feels more like season one.
Yeah.
And like while I can acknowledge its merits, undoubtedly, I think there's a lot of strengths that are there.
There's something about the overall, episode three so far is the only one.
that I've like truly fully clicked with and this one while I love a lot of its apocalyptic flares
I like the sci-fi nuances with its music and again everything else that we pointed out I think
is really strong and I and this made me more excited to see Reru Williams again I love the ending
I think the cliffhanger is great yeah I like that feels like we're heading towards an actual
trajectory like I'm hoping it sticks the landing like season two did where it's like oh there was a
and that could be the watchers.
Sure, sure.
And the eminence being introduced is exciting,
the Celestials being,
it is interesting how much celestial stuff there is
because that's such an overbearing O-P force.
So what's bigger than that is the eminence and the watcher.
So, like, it could be going there.
Because you're right, we have talked about,
you mentioned it, the Eternals has been a prevailing force in this season.
Yeah.
So I can see a big thing at the end.
Also, briefly, Shelby Young is a homie,
and she has a voice in the show that makes me really happy.
Oh, sweet sauce.
A good friend of mine, Shelby Young.
I just, we're really, sometimes this show does this thing
that I kind of lets me down a little bit
and I feel like every season has done it even season
two which I obviously really enjoyed
which is they often get these characters to come
back in it and sometimes it just feels like
ah just throw them in there
why not we can use someone
throw it along in there throw
that's what I'm so afraid of it down in there
Chris Evans dude that's what I'm afraid of
I feel like it'll be actual characters
no no there'll be huge characters but it'll feel like
okay they're back as someone new
like I just it's you know what I mean
like it just feels like it doesn't suit the medium
of film and TV like
it does comics well i think with this though like with the alliance team like make some make some real
personality out of it when they died i was like i didn't really know oh yeah i really i mean i like the visual
of it like the quick cuts it's like that's kind of like the scene in the hotel room from from dust till
dawn uh like that quick flashing and and the uh the difficulty to accept the horror that is around you
i think is really strong uh but yeah there's this was this was one of the stronger ones i think
out of season three so far
but you know what I think
the whole they've kind of dug themselves in is
I feel like
the concepts and the plots
are stronger than most of season one
it's just a lot of the stories they are mining
they feel like they should be
like much longer
stories. The scope's almost too big for 30 minutes
yeah whereas I feel like the season two
they hit a really good mark with a lot of them being
a solid yeah 30 minute
length episodes like this is just right
for this like short film you're telling where a lot of these i think need to be a little bit longer
could these are just our feelings though yeah yeah you're you guys can feel totally different and
honestly i'm more happy when people are happy yeah because a lot of people work on this
beyond the voice actors obviously the animators the writers the directors there's so many people who
work on this and i hope it's loved it pains me because the reality is too is like a lot of people
have come up to coy and i and john and other rejects here
who watch our videos
so I don't want to be here and like
dog on the show
yeah we're just trying to give context
why and how we're experiencing it I think
yeah yeah so but within a day
we still have to be honest about how we're feeling
and people are always surprised that what if's not
near the top of my Marvel rating and it never has been
fair enough yeah it's just it's not
the thing I connect to and that's okay
I'm not saying it's bad I'm saying it's just
of Marvel I connect to certain things and other things
are different levels
everything can't be the top well it's also
a little weird position for us as
you know is a completely different conversation
that could be reserved for our podcast
thrills and shills and nipple chills and nipple chills
I wore my I wore nipple chills for the
dune finale for you your honor
I thought because you're so in love with that title
I literally wore nipple chills for new prophecy sits
I do think thrill chills and chills is pretty good
thrills and nipples chills if we can use the word
nipples I think thrill shills and chills is great
because we can talk about horror we can talk about action
we can talk about like all the spectrums yeah yeah I think
thrills, chills, and chills
is funny as fun. None of it sounds negative.
We can never talk about the negatives.
It's either we're thrilled, chills, or we're going to lie.
But we're, no, that's the funny thing is we can not be negative because we're shills.
That's the funny thing.
I've literally been doing this for 15 years.
I've worked for a studio for the first time now.
And everybody's like, oh, he's a chill.
And I was like, well, at least now I'm, like, working with people.
Like, I've never been before in my life, but we've been shills for so long.
Well, yeah, what were we talking?
What led into that?
Why did I bring that up?
We were talking about people making the show and the talent behind it.
And the people talking to us, people coming up to us.
Oh, I think the bigger conversation is the multiverse seems to be like a problem for Marvel in a lot of ways.
And even though they're bringing in Downey and Chris Evans, there seems to be a bit of like a contentious relationship with audience and multiverse storytelling.
And with what if they have a challenge every single episode.
every episode their big challenges they have to get you to really care because this is not the main timeline
this is a completely separate thing so it can automatically feel inconsequential so it's really
big challenge to go we have to make you give a shit right up front yeah and hold that for 30 minutes
and then having a conclusion that feels warranted where you feel like there's stakes and you got to be
concerned and i still feel like the top of the top pinnacle was the
The Doctor Strange episode in episode four of season one, you know, even though it wasn't main timeline, that's a great example.
Yeah, it didn't really.
And that was the main pinnacle, and now it's underwhelming because it didn't connect.
Yeah, so that's the part of the challenge that what if it just inherently has.
And that's why longer episodes, maybe for this series, they're saying it's the final season, but I feel like, what if could come back?
It's freaking what if there's a concept to you.
They could come back for another season.
and I think longer episodes would serve it well so that way you care and caring about the character
and the easiest way to do is like whoever your main focus is make care about them that way you feel like their stakes and consequences
and that's the biggest challenge of up against but outside of that for this is part of the discussion of the bigger picture of what if
that would be better for our podcast coming up in 2025 versus the end of an episode five reaction that you guys are probably really quick away from those are our thoughts
Trills, chills, and nipples.
I don't want to cut.
No chills.
I want to cut the chills.
Just throw a crumbulled nipples.
Thrills and nipples.
Thrills, chills.
Nipples?
For the company.
I give this 5 out of 10 nipples, Koi.
I'm just going to call our podcast for the company.
That's going to be great.
Just go the nipples.
Nipples.
Nipples with Koy and Greg.
It's a very homoerotic podcast.
Nipples with D.C.
Studios corresponding.
It's going to, I'm going to keep employed for a long time.
Nibbles.
Nipples.
Nipples.
I like this one more than some
It's about the middle of the range for me
In the overall season so far
But weirdly
It is the episode where I start to feel myself
Being like, will this be as good as season two?
And that's the concern
I feel like by this point
I can confidently conclude
This is not as good at season two
So that's the
I'm still gonna take every individual episode
In its own isolated piece
And I'm enjoying more than season one personally
Oh I think this is better than season one by a lot
That's where I'm at so far
But we'll be back next
tomorrow yeah for uh we'll see if it's in six test for us see you guys
