There we go.
So much Gansa.
So much Gansa.
Before we get into our Patreon questions.
Christoph Gansa.
Oh, boys.
Okay.
Before we get to the questions, how are we feeling?
After why did I get married to?
How is the energy in the room?
how are we emotionally have we have we grieved to Gavin properly I know what I'm radiating I mean like I'm
exhausted I know oh man we've been through the ringer I mean this this was an odyssey I have to I guess I
kind of admire this movie it's like you have the the first half that feels very much like a sequel to
why did I get married with a similar motif different
setting, you know, everyone's back and we're continuing happily ever after as an athlete,
so happily ever after, after all.
But yeah, at a certain point, it felt like the previous movie, I feel like had a pretty
tight by comparison to the previous one's grip on tonal oscillation.
Like it has its humor.
It has its heavy.
And it knew pretty well how to cap off a scene and move on to something else.
This main, like this wasn't erratic as some of the earlier.
ones can certainly be where you're going from like an insanely dark thing to an insanely silly thing
with no primer.
This is a looser one than the previous one.
For sure.
In some ways, I don't dislike that idea.
It's weird.
Like, I can't really even begin to describe this movie on a structural level.
Sure.
But I kind of appreciate the mess because it's about the mess.
Yeah.
And yeah, there was a certain point at which they absolutely had me guessing and unsure.
of what was going to happen and there were a lot of just scenes that were unfolding in what felt
like very tense and spontaneous ways.
Sure.
And yeah, like there are moments where I'm like, God, I can only imagine what prep would have
been like for Janet Jackson, the actor who plays Gavin, like some of those scenes, you got
to have insane levels of trust.
Absolutely.
And, you know, rapport built up with each other to, you know, keep those scenes safe from
just humans on set standpoint while going to those harsh places.
So I don't really know which one I would.
would shoot like I think the previous one's a little bit of a tighter movie and it is definitely more rewarding by the end
leaves you feeling way better yes and then this this this this I like I am so fascinated to know
how all this happened and I like I don't know like were they just sitting there going like well we ran
out of script and everything is real freaking somber what can we do in one reshoot day's worth of a scene
right to turn this whole thing around and leave people leaving on a on a high note i don't know call the rock
yeah the movie the movie doesn't feel like it concluded it just feels like it ended yeah and that's
for real and in some ways i appreciate and like the third one's coming out well after this but
this seemed a little more aware of the fact that it might continue so i get why you might
leave it in a less the first one's like a little bit more wrapped up which then begs you to do
the thing where you have to be like,
and we have to undo some of that.
We have to add new conflict to that,
which I mean, I think they did decently well here,
and it still follows like the same kind of like,
this one's really fleshed out,
and this one's a little more surface level and blah, blah, blah.
Right.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what to make of freaking,
what happened with Terry and her.
They're just kind of trialed off on that.
Yes.
And she's emotionally cheating.
And that's it.
And we're just kind of going to leave that there.
and I'm not happy and you know, blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, totally left that off.
And then Homeboy freaking got cancer and then we just didn't address it again.
Right.
Well, and I mean, the only ones you really get, like, when they, when she finds the second phone and they start arguing and then you do that one shot outside the house where we're slowly pulling back.
I was like, okay, that is the wrap up, the little denouement on that story.
And that story has concluded for this movie.
Right.
And then the rest is just sort of like,
whoa,
whoa,
whoa,
a bunch of,
like,
open circumstances for the future,
which, you know,
with Janet Jackson,
I guess she's going to happily ever after with The Rock.
Yeah.
Seemingly.
Seemingly.
I hope they have a picture of the two of them
for the next movie,
boy.
Oh, man.
I really hope so.
I'm so curious about so many things.
And I don't blame Janet Jackson for not coming back
if she's not coming back.
Because, like,
these must be,
she's not even,
like,
in the lion's share of scenes.
but she's not even in the lion's sheriff's scenes
but it must be like so taxing on her soul
to be doing this
so she's got to go to such dark places
and she's got to hold
so much of that
you know I don't know yeah
it's hard on her as a performer I would imagine
specifically so
I don't have questions
no one cares about our Tyler Perry
no one cared about the rock
No one can.
Does it rock
to this freaking movie?
Oh, God.
What about you, man?
What did you think of the movie?
This was surprisingly more of a roller coaster than I was expecting because of the first movie.
Being so, you know, tonally singular.
Because, again, the, yeah, the first movie was, it wasn't this whiplash of tones that me and
John we experienced from other Tyler Perry movies.
Yeah.
But, yeah, this was a little messier in execution.
in my opinion because it seemed as if yes like i agree with humphrey it's in the beginning it felt like
a sequel to the movie and each couple has their own problems or whatever and it was getting a
little predictable and then it doesn't and then it goes like the nth level with a lot of the physical
um fighting which is like a scary scene to watch to be honest and it's like really unsettling
which I didn't that the last movie didn't go there right other than the the dinner scene with the
breaking of the bottle I don't believe so yeah there was a real domestic violence in like kind of
portrayal but this really goes to a point where it kind of gets scary and sad and really intense
and then yeah by the third act of the movie I'm gonna be honest like it seemed like it was
every every plot point or storyline for the couples we're like cheapened and we're like
oh we're gonna solve it because we're in the
hospital and this is how we're going to solve it.
And then that bar scene beforehand, yeah, the sheriff is all right with Mike being there
because he's sick.
And like, there's no conversation.
Yeah.
A lot of the first two acts of the movie is conversational heavy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And like, even to the point where I'm like, they're really like, they're really spending
a lot of time with just the casual conversation and you're getting little subtext and
subplots.
But and then we cheapen that like later.
So I'm kind of
I'm kind of
What's the word?
I'm kind of confused by the end of the movie
And what makes me even more confused
I'm going to be straight up
Is why did they get the rock
Like why did they lean on that shot
Like they really invested into like
I think it was just I don't know who
If anybody Tyler Perry answers to
Or who gives notes or what
Sure I almost feel like
It's like we need to cap this off with some kind of button or some kind of hopeful note.
Sure.
You know, it's like we do.
There's so much somber that it feels like we just need something to leave people not feeling dower at the end of this.
But even then like, okay, like it almost felt like a superhero reveal when this movie doesn't call for it.
Like, yes, I guess he's a celebrity at the time, especially 2010.
Like he's a big name.
But like.
It's big weird because like.
Yeah.
Like the Gavin and Patty relationship is one of the more grounded elements.
And like in the first movie we were talking about like their whole situation and the nuance of that was one of the more tempered elements.
And I don't I don't begrudge them like sending them further off the deep end and really honing in on the idea that like yeah, Jamma Jackson, even though she's this, you know, renowned, you know, doctor relationship expert, et cetera.
You know, like she's unable to address her.
like it's a well-worn thing to do.
But yeah, like, it seemed, it's like there's so much else going on.
Yes.
And what they do there is interesting.
The tragedy of that is, like, really uncomfortable and tangible.
And it trails off in a way that life can.
And it really pangs, again, the trauma that we heard about from the first movie.
So it does kind of feel like you get to the end of this and there's a sort of like,
you know, like you're kind of juggling all the plates, all of a sudden.
and they're all crashing together.
Right, right.
And, yeah, I, like, it's a little odd of intent
because, again, the original time you understood for them,
you felt for them, and you took it, I took at face value,
their account of their relationship.
That in this movie you discover, like, I've been miserable all this time.
We never, ever talk.
You've taken our story and profited off of it.
And, and there's also real stuff there,
but it also felt like Gavin got sort of,
swapped for another character and then I couldn't really tell like with Patty I like there's a
certain point where I sort of lost to what the thing was saying yes I agree I'm sort of like I get
you not wanting to engage with him or wanting to just have this divorce go through without any
must but at the same time you are both kind of avoiding talking and then when one of you wants
to talk the other you you doesn't want to talk and then and then by the end of the movie I'm
sort of like, okay, maybe this is tragic, but also like, is this trying to tell me that Gavin was
shitty?
Right.
I mean, like, you did some shitty stuff.
Did some really harsh, uncomfortable stuff that I don't, you know, approve of.
But, like, you know, there was some, again, real harsh, nuanced pain there.
And then to, yeah, tie it up at the end of like, oh, she's got this new romantic prospect or
something.
And it's somebody who's loaded casting, who you are meant to go, oh, my God.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
How did you get the rock?
You know, it does feel like a bit of a rip-coct.
And it also like muddles for me the consistency of character and then to note that she's not returning
For the next one. I am sort of like you had a nicely kind of wrapped up thing the first time
Yeah, and then you complicated it the second time and that's fine, but then the conclusion to that
complication doesn't seem like it will come. So I'm a little torn on that, I suppose good work from the actors and I admire
them wanting to address that but I felt like their conflict in the first.
movie had more meat on the bone yes here I was like guys fucking talk yes literally talk either
of you talk god damn like do the thing that that Sheila and and Troy do early on where he finally
starts talking to her yes definitely no yeah it just it was such a strange experience because
I was yes I was never bored by the movie I was frustrated a lot by the movie and and it feels like
the stuff with
what's Janet Jackson's character's name again
and her husband
Perfect Patty
Perfect Patty and her husband
They were
Their stuff was so
Secretive and shrouded
That first half
So when it just explodes
In the second half
Yeah I was
I kept waiting for this like big reveal
Of like what it actually is her problem
Right right
And then it just never comes
Because he dies
You never really
Yeah
And life is like that
But also this is a script
This is a movie
and and this is like a movie with two distinct halves
and the second half is kicked off by our divorce proceedings.
Exactly.
That sets him down a spiral.
Yeah.
And it just like it just seems like they became a different guy by the time we got to the second half.
Yeah, man, there's just a lot going on.
And like some of those arcs, you kind of said like you have to undo the status quo
what we established in the first movie.
So there was a bit of like repetitiveness.
You know, life can kind of be like that.
sometimes you know sure you feel like you've solved an issue but then you kind of come back to it but you have to create ways for for conflicts to feel uh like maybe the bigger issue is the same but the the individual conflict itself is different so you know there's like but it didn't feel like they did that it was just like the same conflict over and over again like with um with with with sheila and then her guy they had that thing in the beginning where he wouldn't talk to her like it's frustrating
that he did open up and then it just became the same issue again once they got back home like okay
let's freaking yes let's do something and then he like crashes out and like okay they just
changed this guy right entirely kind of like like like like he were saying yeah and it's frustrating
i'm i'm okay with some of that like he's he's he's in the first movie you're so calmed by him
always because he's just perfect he's a great guy yeah and then here i'm like i don't begrudge
them having him be a little bit more like ooh i'm a little scared of you now like i'm a little
I'm a little worried of the anger
that it's coming up out of you because
of the helplessness that you're feeling
and I think they succeed
more with them
but also
yeah it is kind of like you know what the
beat is. Yeah and it was just
yeah it was a fascinating
contrast between how he was before and when he felt
secure and grounded and now he's like stressed because he's
probably doesn't have a sense of foundation which is
very real you know a guy who's kind of
had his stuff together saving only his whole life
now it was kind of free falling and
doesn't know which way to turn
what's left, what's right while
feeling the pressure of having to
take care of a wife, take care of a house
take care of a new baby.
Yeah, it was very understandable, but you've got to let your partner in
on what your struggles are.
And I feel like the way that they ended that
yeah, just didn't feel
exactly narratively satisfying.
I felt that way.
I felt that way with all the plot,
like all the couples problems.
It didn't end satisfying, but go ahead, I'm sorry.
And Mike just kind of seemed to be there ultimately just to help him get a job.
I mean, I thought the Mike stuff was interesting because of the whole thing.
He was interesting, but I was like, what was his narrative purpose within the story?
Because she was never seduced by him.
And then the whole thing of Mike being there, being a wrench in their relationship, was never a big thing throughout the entire movie.
Like, I never felt like he was insecure by his presence there.
He was just like, I don't like you.
And then she was like, I also don't like him.
So by the time we get to that end, it didn't feel like the blowup was warranted because it wasn't something that he was suspicious of the entire time.
I don't know.
I bought that.
I personally was kind of at least more understanding of that because of all the things in the Sheila Troy melting pot and the whole like, oh, man, you know, you let these details out about how we're doing financially and my job struggle and all that stuff.
and is getting back to like the one person who's treated you the worst and who I is like my mortal enemy due to the circumstances.
Yeah.
And do you know, like having him around at all is like attention driver.
I can agree with that.
I think that for what they have him do within the story, I hear your point.
I can, now that you said that, I can agree with that.
I felt like for what they had him do, I feel like they didn't give him enough.
you know what it's doing yeah
you know what's happening okay you want to do this arc where he's changing
but you're like I still like I don't know if I can trust this guy
but then you find out whammy he has cancer
yeah and then they just don't do enough with the cancer diagnosis thing
and we just kind of end on this note where they do the one of the previous
stuff the the one uh god
the diary of a mad black woman did where it's like oh I'm gonna I'm gonna
nurse him back to health now that we've had all our shit out
yeah right right right right
back to that.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, no way.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Which I didn't know.
Yeah.
Like, I, I appreciate the effort, because that's a character I never would have imagined
having any sympathy for because he's just so awful for the first time.
And I liked it at least we got a little bit of backstory from him to be like, oh, used to have fun.
And then she counters that with like, well, it wasn't so fun for me.
Yes, exactly.
So Lisa gave me some weird idea of how this ever happened.
Because the first movie, you're like, how did this happen?
Yes.
How did you ever wind up together in any dimension?
mention.
Right, right, right, never.
But yeah, I mean, he's basically just there to be the very obvious wedge between Sheila and Troy.
I think what would be more effective?
Tell me how you guys feel about this.
If we had Mike's character come in just with the fact that we visually see him, we're
already, like, rolling our eyes, like, all right, this guy's not great.
But if he had that face turn from the beginning and he's not insulting, he's not mean,
and it's something suspicious and we're like, does he want Sheila back, right?
And like that character turn, but ultimately the cancer reveal happens.
That's why he's so nice for the entire movie.
I think that would be more effective because it's like, oh, yeah, life, like, death is knocking on his door.
That's why he's like, but like he, his character really didn't change.
It seemed in the very beginning of the movie.
And then we're almost forced to be sympathetic or empathetic with him because now he has cancer.
Like we shouldn't like, we should have been like, it seemed as if what.
makes these movies, especially with Tyler Perry, the, the, the big surprise on big reveal,
he's more effective when you kind of least expect it.
But you're almost like, oh, that's cool how you did it.
This, on the other hand, it feels as if the surprise didn't work because it wasn't executed well.
Like I was like, oh, he's got cancer.
Like it's a quick out.
Yeah, like a cheap card.
Yeah, like, what?
And like, and like, and then, yeah.
And then.
the conversation ends with like
Sheriff come have a beer with me now that
you know I have cancer like
Yeah it's like I don't mind the conclusions
And I can have canon I can I can like
Arrive there in mental math but yeah in a movie like this like
It would be a nice thing to see
Because there's a lot of like rich drama you could ring out of that
And a good chance for yeah like a good
A good heartfelt scene between
You know two of your two of the male
Half of the Cat like we get a lot of
heartfelt scenes between, you know, the women and we get a number of at least like, you know,
supportive bro scenes, but like to have a real harsh, like, heart to heart between those two guys,
even if it does come out with like, I don't like you, but I, I, you know what, we got to put
this animosity aside.
Like, that could have been really interesting.
No, no, definitely, yeah.
So it's like, I like the intent and I like the, it's like the, the beat itself is good, but
yeah, like if we're really putting critic hat on, it's like, it would be nice to see how we arrived
here why why why why pull that meat off the bone you know give that's the meat you know no i agree yeah
yeah i don't agree yeah instead of it being like oh no you don't understand it's something
completely beyond any right you know and even marcus and angela's how do you guys feel about like
okay and they're arguing the whole movie they're like and then yeah he's not cheating it felt like
just tensions for tension's sake because they oh my god yes literally established early on in the
movie the running joke is that when he's lying he's the worst of the worst of the worst
worst liar in the world.
You know what I'm saying?
Yeah, yeah.
We get to this point where she's out there confronting him and he's not saying it.
So I was like, then you automatically know that he's not lying.
You don't need to do all this extra fucking Batman spy shit because he'll just tell you indirectly if he's cheating on you.
That monologue, man, about like, if it's two and it's two and a half miles to here and it's 4.8 miles to here.
I'm like, whoa.
You're driving yourself crazy for no reason.
Right.
They're the Looney Tunes pair.
Yeah.
And they're the point I feel like is they're kind of in the perpetuate.
They are the characters who are perpetually in the same like little hamster wheel.
For sure.
And again, in the broader scheme of things, like I get that.
That's a function.
That's fine.
You know, like they, but it's it's the most similar to what we did with them last time
because it is pretty much the same thing we did the last time except it's a different job dynamic.
Right, right, right.
Yeah.
And it was interesting because I feel like there are women out there.
are like Tasha
and because the fact that
the big thing that she said
that caught my attention she was like I put
all this work in and make him who he is and not about to give
that up now just like her sense of
like possession of
like I made this thing
I'm not going to lose this thing she's more invested
in her pride in what she's
done with her project
rather than who he is and if she feels love
right right right that's a good point
I didn't view that way yeah
yeah I mean she said as much
she's like I put her
this in and I was like okay that's what this is really about
at least in part and then she I feel like she just loves the game
she both love the game yeah there there are those two who just cannot get out of
that cycle and part of them doesn't want to yeah and we all got to deal with it but
yeah same time maybe by the third movie that will have finally established some level of
trust you know I'm gonna guess they don't
oh yeah we'll have to see we'll have to see yeah if they reset I'm fine and it was
nice to see Louis Gossett Jr. and Cessley
Tyson for a sec. Yeah. That's
another interesting scene because like I liked
what they, you know, like their story
was a nuanced one. I liked
the whole like, oh, he's going to try and tell
a fairy tale version. She's going to tell you the real
version of it and how the ups and downs
and how we didn't start out where we thought
we would, but we ended up here together.
Yeah. And I like that and I think that's
a good thematic like center
stone, a little cornerstone or a
centerpiece of sorts. But
I'm going to be honest though. It was
strong enough because I forgot about that.
Sure.
Like it gets crazy after that.
It gets kind of a while.
It becomes a different movie after a while.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that's one of those things.
Right.
The moment like that you would think,
yeah, is supposed to shine out.
Sure, sure.
But then a lot of, a lot more of this,
I think, just gets overcome in the chaos.
And it's, it's an interesting one
because this has some fine,
dramatic work and some heavy dramatic depths.
And they mostly are
on topic or like
they don't just come out of nowhere
with like a horrific circumstance that like is unrelated to the main sort of thing going on.
Yeah.
That's true.
I think my biggest issue with the movie.
I mean,
there's a ton as we've been talking about.
Excuse me.
Just the way it ends in the fact of the speed in which it ends.
Yes.
Because I'm like you,
the whole crux and revealed at the end of the last movie is that you lost her son
because you didn't buckle them up properly.
Yeah.
And that's what's causing riffing your relationship.
And now you killed your husband.
And then we just move on.
I was like, you would be so fucked up.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, we did not have enough time to unpack that because she just met the rock.
And it's over.
Yes.
Yeah.
She wouldn't be driving.
And it's been a year.
And it's been a year.
Yes. Oh, yeah.
I don't think she'd be driving at all.
I'm like, she's just back to compartmentalizing and not thinking about the thing.
You know, except for very, very seldom on her own time.
I was probably right.
Yeah.
She's the one.
She, I feel like she changed on the last movie.
But within the narrative of this movie,
she's the most stagnant.
Yeah, well, I mean, and then you have to fix it, but I was just like, that's, that was like a
emotional moment.
I have desperation.
Not a real revelation of change.
Like, okay, I need to change something about myself.
Yeah, it felt like the, I don't know, like, I'll have to watch her again, I guess, but it felt like
the movie was sort of in her corner, which is fine, but there are things about what she's
doing where you're like, you could be doing.
Like, there are things he's doing that are messed up.
But I'm like, you could be expressing or talking, taking some of your own advice and kind of
recognizing that you are not taking your own advice.
Yes, yes.
That you guys are literally arguing over the profits for.
Yes.
Reap the reward of your own advice in a spiritual sense.
Right. Did you read your own book?
Yeah, and I think that the part of the, yeah, another thing that bothers me, well, I wish we, we never
got to the real crux of what their issues were.
Because he's like, I want you to let me in.
I want you to talk to me and then she won't.
And then they just have him do something like so, like, messed up and monstrous
that there is no point of return.
It's sad and tragic.
Yeah.
And you kind of get,
it's like he's not going down the right path,
but you kind of get what happened.
And then, you know,
he's like,
yeah,
it was a real downward spiral.
And it's like it's,
it's in a sense done well,
although I don't know if that's what the assignment was.
So,
and then you have Tyler Perry,
who is like,
of all the characters,
he's like,
chill in and that character in these movies
is just like the guy who kind of knows what's going on
and is being very sort of stoic about it.
And it's just like,
you know, I know you're cheating on me and I pay attention.
I'm the most discerning guy.
Right.
And there's conflict around his story, but he also just sort of is all, he just is chill
and seems to know what's going on.
Right.
A little one note.
And then, yeah, I don't know really what to make of where they wind up or don't.
The emotional cheating plot line.
It's interesting, yeah.
And I mean, yeah, yeah, I don't know.
Like life trails off, but it feels like there's a way to do that and also end your
movie without throwing in a post-credit scene without the credits part.
And it's crazy because like the going back to Gavin and Janet with Gavin and Patricia,
like I didn't get a hint that he was greedy.
Like were we being supposed to.
It came out of nowhere.
We didn't give enough context for this to be that accusation.
He wanted the money?
Because I thought, yeah, the point.
I don't know.
I'm not agreeing with like his move there.
but like the point about like
this book is written
using our relationship
and like oh what about those late nights
I didn't use any of your ideas
but like the whole thing is based on us
like there's something interesting
there
but then yeah there's not enough time
because it's not a movie over me right exactly
and I feel like as far as the emotional cheating stuff
with Terry and his wife
I feel like there wasn't
I'd understand the point of it
and I didn't feel like it came to a point
of trying to reconcile their
relationship or trying to teach us something about their dynamic it just caused it was just drama for
drama sake and we didn't really do anything with it by the end yeah it's just like well we need
these characters and we need them to have something to do yeah and i mean it's flattering for Tyler
very that you know he gets to be the guy who's just like i know what's going on yeah and i'm not gonna
be in any sort of intense violence scene or anything like that but i'm just going to let you know
that i know what's going on you know you did me dirty this is a very like this is the first
First one is certainly encapsulated the mess,
but I feel like this is like, what was going on in your life right now?
This movie's like, ooh, this is a, something's going on while you're writing this.
Because, uh, right?
You know, I'm not a different person, but like a person at a different walk of life
and with different thoughts about marriage.
Like, this is a way more pessimistic movie.
It feels like.
Yeah, and it's funny because there's definitely a shocker to see the rock,
but to go to such, to go from such a dark kind of.
A grim pessimistic
A dark pessimistic
place to then try to like
Oh, cameo.
The guy with like a million dollar smile.
Yeah.
Right.
Is that the club out for this?
Is that our reaction?
No.
So crazy, dude.
So crazy.
I wonder, you know, the guy,
this is a totally minor character.
I thought about this.
This is so petty.
You know the birthday gram that she did?
Yeah.
I wonder how that guy felt like
Oh yeah I'm gonna make fun of this guy
He hired me oh he died
Well that seemed like she was going on
She's like called him a bitch in the park
I just imagine he's like still dancing in a pink
Yeah
I got paid for this
Oh there's a car accident outside
I wish she had the
The dancer like run after the car
Out of the street yeah
I saw the dancer in the background
Oh
I got a dancer came outside too
I mean yeah
I felt bad I'm like
Come on why why you go rope a poor dancer
into this.
That was so unnecessary.
Like, I'm a bitch, and then, man,
and then, like, queer, shame for whatever.
I don't know, yeah.
It was crazy.
This dancer didn't need that.
For real.
I mean, dance is looking great, doing a good job, so, you know, more props.
That dancer got a credit, too.
I forget their name, but they had an interesting, fun name.
Yeah.
And good disco ball hair.
Love that.
Yeah.
Love the disco ball hair.
Love the tropics.
They're culty, you know, like, house staff who was always speaking in unison.
I love to see it.
Love the name.
Neighbor lady, not, not you think she's going to be microaggressive racist old white lady,
but she's actually just kind of fine.
Yeah, love her.
I don't like the way to look at him in a little.
Yeah, here we go.
Because he wants to get you in that bedroom.
I wouldn't blame me for not like the way he's looking at you right now.
Yeah, she, I feel like, you almost got pulled out that bed.
And it's funny because it seemed not like overly obvious, but just like, because she didn't say him.
she said
I don't know she I'm sorry she did say him
she didn't say her husband
so I feel like she was just actively
looking for things to make her narrative
make sense and
yeah ultimately yeah she end up
not looking smart because of it
I'm gonna be honest I think
the rock thing
the rock cameo
would have shadows the movie
would have made sense
if if Patricia
talks about like this mister
this old flame that she had.
And like it never worked out, whatever,
but hey, I'm happily married.
In the very beginning,
first and second act,
there's some sort of hint of another guy.
And then he comes in,
and then he is meaningful.
But it's just because he's the rock.
Like, you know, you get me?
Like, if he was hinted as another,
like a real character,
like a big muck-de-muck,
you know, lawyer guy or guy from the school or whatever.
Yeah, she's a schmooze.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it's so weird,
because this whole thing,
of all the characters for Janet Jackson,
or Patricia's character
like you don't need to hold everything together
like let me in let me know what's going on with you
and she never does.
It doesn't actually happen
and like that moment where they all sit on the stairs
and they weep together and they don't need to speak
that's beautiful that's a thing too
but like yeah we never arrive
at that and I'm like yes it's dead
maybe we can start talking about it now no
we have to rock now
so we can go on another relationship we don't talk about our problems
yeah so it's weird like with her character
and Tyler Perry
character it seems like there's like a something unresolved in the formulation of this yeah i agree it's odd
it is very odd okay well you know we found out why we get married or did we i don't know if we did
not to get married we definitely found that out but maybe we're going to find out why we should get married
