Join Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson as they trek into the Appalachian wilds in Joe Lynch’s 2007 splatter horror sequel, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End. When twelve strangers—including survivalists, reality-TV hopefuls, and ex-military tough guy Dale Murphy (Henry Rollins, Heat, frontman of Black Flag)—enter a “Ultimate Survivalist” contest deep in West Virginia, they soon discover they’re more than just battling the elements. Stalked by a vicious clan of mutant cannibals, contestants like resourceful Nina Papas (Erica Leerhsen, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Feast), adventurous Jake Washington (Texas Battle, April Showers, Three Can Play That Game), and cunning Amber Williams (Daniella Alonso, Hemlock Grove, Make It or Break It) must use every skill they’ve got—or become the next grisly meal. Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men) adds depth as determined Mara Stone, while Steve Braun (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay) and Crystal Lowe (Final Destination 3, Wrong Turn) round out the bloody ensemble. Tara & Roxy break down the film’s most bone-crushing set pieces—from the nail-studded cabin ambush and the gruesome shower massacre to the adrenaline-fueled tree-shredder finale—dissecting how Wrong Turn 2 combines razor-sharp kills, dark humor, and over-the-top gore into one of the franchise’s most beloved entries. Starting point is 00:00:00 It is the cold habitual And it is the cold of the cold at his summit Cozlight
Starting point is 00:00:08 T'envee a fruade celebrate to be able to have the age legal for consuming
Starting point is 00:00:12 the alcohol Thank you to Acorns and Huell for sponsoring this video more on them in just a bit
Starting point is 00:00:18 I Nailed I nailed it I nailed it she said I nailed it and I nailed that
Starting point is 00:00:28 because a lot of times I don't see it you're like you're gonna leave me hanging and I'm like I didn't see yeah you got it that was like I mean that was crazy wackado wild like I'm not I don't I don't know I don't know thank you to prepper for helping out down these highlights I'm in a wow like I got a look up about Kimberly Goldwell, bro.
Starting point is 00:01:01 That was the craziest thing. I was like, is that the American Idol, girl? It has to be her. It has to be her. Oh, my God. Like, this, okay, here's the thing. This, I get it now. Why, wrong turn one, which was a great film,
Starting point is 00:01:19 turned into an entire franchise worth of seven movies. Because not only did they up it from one to two, they obviously got an increased budget. We got to see an entire, okay, the fact that they were able to open up and say, I want this shot to be where we ax her in half and we drag her body parts back. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Wow. That's so much fun and amazing. And then, of course, we see a whole body blow up. The head of M looks really, really great. Like, a lot of good special effect. And obviously, creepy people are like, oh, my God, the baby at the end? The baby, dude, the baby. We had seen the baby earlier, but not like that.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Not like that. Like, can I just hit you with some things about this movie? First of all, it is Kimberly Caldwell from American Idol. You called it. I cannot believe that because I have not seen her since American Idol. Well, this was, if this was 2007, that would probably be, was that around the time that she was on the show? It must have been. I'll look it up, but that is.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Well, let's see, actually. She was on American Idol in 2003. Oh, okay. So a little bit, she must have been on tour. People still knew who she was, maybe a little bit. Yeah. Yeah, 2003. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:02:40 The opening scene with Kimberly Caldwell was originally supposed to involve Eliza Dushku playing herself in a cameo. Oh. But it didn't. Oh, I wonder why she didn't. Yeah, okay. Wayne Robson is the only cast member to return from the first movie. so that is the guy
Starting point is 00:02:58 The old guy The old guy Yes exactly Oh I knew he See I was And I was like Oh he's from the beginning Of the other film
Starting point is 00:03:07 And or he was the guy And obviously in the truck Towards the middle I don't remember Where he wasn't in the first one But I know But this is in there Good call
Starting point is 00:03:16 I did not remember that According to director Joe Lynch On the DVD commentary Do you want to guess How many gallons of blood We're using the film Oh that's fun
Starting point is 00:03:25 Okay Um, 33,000? 300. 300 gallons. I'm so bad at that stuff too. They did a real good job making me think it was 33,000 gallons. Okay, this one's disgusting and makes sense. The cackling laughter from Three Finger is actually the director, Joe Lynch.
Starting point is 00:03:51 After unsuccessful attempts from the actor playing Three Finger prompted a last second 80-yard to get the voice similar to the character's trademark laugh in the first. Oh, wow. Good job, director. Oh, my God, dude. Narlie. Okay, in the original script in the scene where Atlanta tries to seduce Jake and later has oral sex with Michael, she was also supposed to be completely nude during the entire scene and go skinny dipping after Jake leaves both her and Michael,
Starting point is 00:04:19 while in the movie, she's only top us for short an amount of time. Yeah. All right. This was shot in 25 days. Hmm. Okay. That's pretty quick. It's the only film in the series that does not contain at least one scene of drug use. Did everything else? At least one scene. The character of Nina was pregnant in an earlier draft of the script. You called it.
Starting point is 00:04:45 That's interesting, but not in this draft. Right. That's so funny. So maybe she kept it in, like, in her mind or something. Right. That's interesting. Okay. One of the two of our movies involving deformed mutants and Daniela Alonzo released in 2007, the other was The Hills Have Eyes. Oh, I haven't seen those.
Starting point is 00:05:07 I have. I don't remember. I saw them when I was in high school. Yeah. Director Joe Lynch originally wanted to have more inbred characters in the film. It was unable to because there were already too many characters to service in the film. Yeah. Like what?
Starting point is 00:05:24 How many more could we have, bro? Yeah, that was already a lot. Oh, my God. Okay, that's pretty much it, bro. I want to see what some of these actors have done. Like, I don't know. Okay, there's goofs. Let's see what this is.
Starting point is 00:05:42 When Kimberly's cut in half, only her intestine comes out, not her blood. Oh, yeah, it's true. It was pretty clean when they're dragging her away. But I didn't even clock it. I just thought, wow, that's cool how they're making it look and she was split so evenly enough. Here's another error. It is established when the characters introduced
Starting point is 00:05:59 that Amber was in the Marines. Later, another character says he read about her and her time at West Point. A Marine would not have attended West Point. That's only for U.S. Army officers. A Marine would have attended the U.S. Naval Academy. Oh, boy. Somebody didn't do the research.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Okay, this is under factual errors. When Kimberly Caldwell calls her agent, he complains it's 4 a.m. in Los Angeles. She's driving in West Virginia, and the shadow of the car casts indicate the sun is directed overhead, so it's about midday. The shadow sits under the car in every shot. However, if it's 4 a.m. in L.A., should be 7 a.m. in West Virginia, so the sun should cast long shadows. I'm not if you're watching it. That's a lot.
Starting point is 00:06:41 That's a lot. That's too much. That's a lot. But I did think that the guy on the phone is the famous comedian that we all know, I think, is first name is Pat something. Her agent on the phone. He's a comedian out here.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Oh, you recognize his voice? Yeah. Even though we didn't see him? Yeah, I did. Like, right away, when you were like, that's that girl, I kept thinking, what is this comedian's name? He has a podcast, but,
Starting point is 00:07:10 oh, man. Oh, was it Pat and Oswald? Was the voice? Yeah, did I just say that? You said Pat? I said Pat and Oswald. Yes, of course it was. And his name was Tommy, it says.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Yes. I knew it right away, and I was like, Pat, something. That's great. Love that. Well, hello again, Hewle, H-U-E-L, today's video sponsor. Lately, I've been loving talking about Hewle because I've used it as an excuse to give you guys updates on my fitness journey. Back in January of this year, I was 218 pounds. Starting point is 00:11:06 Wow. Damn, dude. That's a good problem. I'm curious who some of the other actors or what they've been in. Let's see if we know any of their stuff. The girl who we both recognize Amber, the Sampify. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Her name is Danielle Alonzo. She is in the Hills Have I, it's two. Oh. Oh, she was in One Tree Hill, Bro. Oh, well, there you have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's been in a lot of different stuff. She's 72 different credits on IMDB.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Okay. Most recently, it was in 64 episodes of Dynasty. Five episodes of The Resident. Oh. Oh, I watched The Resident. That's where I know where from. You watched The Resident? The Resident is the Netflix show
Starting point is 00:11:45 that just dropped this year. No. Nope, that's residence. Oh. This is a Hulu drama from like a couple years ago. Skip it. Don't know it. She was in an episode of Magicians, Seal Team, Lethal Weapon. 10 episodes of Animal Kingdom.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Okay, girl. She works. She works. She works. So that's probably why we both recognized her. Let's see about our hero guy who we liked. Yeah, he definitely works. I just couldn't place him. Um, okay, that's who was named Texas Battle. What a name.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Wow, what a name is right. He was in Final Destination 3, which I saw for this channel, clearly remember very well. He has also had 53 IMDB credits, so a lot of movies, but I don't remember. Death Valley, Hard Kill, Coach Carter. I don't know any of those. Is there any other else that you recognize? Is there TV shows? No, those are movies. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Wow, that's weird, because I feel. felt like I really recognized that guy specifically. He looks very different now. He does. Oh, he looks very different. Yeah. Interesting. No, I... No. Because I didn't, I didn't recognize
Starting point is 00:13:03 M or the girl that was topless before. I didn't recognize the blonde wrist cutter gal. I can't believe that there are more of these, dude. Wackadoo, right? I can't believe that. there's seven like and I think the reason obviously why they got they got to keep going is like they did a good job with their budget and because of this they just up the freaking ante dude
Starting point is 00:13:27 they were like let's go let's go wild they did they did a really good job and you know what with the cornyness of what this is the actors did a good job they really did and they took it very seriously. The budget of this was $4 million. It grossed 9 mil in DVD sales. Nice. That's all you got to really ask for. Double the budget. And then you're in good shoes. What's interesting is that the first wrong term budget was
Starting point is 00:14:00 12.6 mil. So really? Yeah, but it looked like, you'll think about like Eliza Dushku. Yeah. And Manuel Shrieky. Like we had like a whole ass cast for that. And we did have a cool explosion. Yeah. That was cool. We didn't have any explode.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Oh, no, we did. We had a whole body blow up. That was cool. This was absolutely bonkers. Yeah. Like, one of the craziest movies I've ever seen in my life. I agree with you. Well, I could do.
Starting point is 00:14:28 You guys, just let us know what you think in the comments. Did you love this movie? Do you think it's what I can do? Do you hate it? I don't know how much we're going to be able to show in editing because it's gnarly. Starting point is 00:14:56 are they like this too like are they all different should i bring a barf bag yeah honestly that was disgusting bro oh the baby the baby at the end with the finger we all know them zooming in on that that baby's going to be back that was disgusting dude oh god what if they what if they what if they What if, what if they don't, oh, what if, ah, the baby's face was not, it was worse. And now what if the next one is like, that's a teenager and it's all bad. I don't know what to tell you, dude. I don't know what to tell you. Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:28 We, we love you guys. You got any last words from Rocks? No, no, no. Gross. Gross. All right. We'll just let us know. We'll see you on the next one.
