Visit https://huel.com/rejects to get 15% off your order Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson head back to Glenville Sanatorium in Declan O’Brien’s 2011 prequel Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, which reveals the origin of the Hillicker cannibals. In 1974, the deformed Hillicker brothers—Three Finger, Saw Tooth, and One Eye—spark a blood-soaked riot at the asylum, massacring staff before disappearing into the woods. Fast-forward to 2003: nine Weston University students—Kenia Perrin (Jenny Pudavick, Project Greenlight), Sara Washington (Tenika Davis, Diablo 3), Bridget Manalo (Kaitlyn Wong, Superman Returns) and their friends—snowmobile into a blizzard and take refuge in the same abandoned ward, unaware that the brothers still lurk within. What follows is a march of terror worthy of the franchise: Porter’s grisly kitchen butchery, Claire’s barbed-wire hang and decapitation, and the brutal trap that turns Kyle’s desperate barricade into a fatal mistake. The girls’ frantic fight leads to a harrowing outdoor snowmobile chase—complete with a razor-wire snare that decapitates the last survivors—while Three Finger hauls the severed heads away in his tow truck. Our hosts break down every ingenious kill, the bone-chilling asylum riot flashback, and the film’s relentless winter-horror atmosphere that cements Bloody Beginnings as a cult favorite. Starting point is 00:00:00 It is the cold habitual And it is the cold of the cold at his summit Cozlight
Starting point is 00:00:08 T'envee a Froid Celebrate to be able to have the age
Starting point is 00:00:11 legal for consuming alcohol Thank you to Huell for sponsoring this video
Starting point is 00:00:16 more on them in just a bit Okay I think we should we should go
Starting point is 00:00:26 This franchise is so whack we have no idea what's coming for us right now. I do not know. Number four is supposed to be the craziest of the mall. Really? Somebody commented that being like, you guys are not prepared for four and I was like for full,
Starting point is 00:00:38 wrong turn four. Oh my God. Three, two, one. What? Oh, right. Oh, no, no. Don't start something else here. Um, um, okay. Rejects. Oh, boy. Thanks for joining us.
Starting point is 00:01:03 If you are listening to us on Apple or Spotify, give us a five-star rating. Also, leave a like, leave a comment. Ring the bell. Thank the bell. Ring the bell. Subscribe. Do the juice. Shout out to Preper for helping us edit this down.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Yeah, thank you, Rocks. Also, Eric Nured Chronic helps out the edits. He's great. Okay. Rocks, tell the people. What do you want me to tell him to her? How you feel now? This franchise is unique.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Yep. Would I ever recommend this to anybody ever? No. Am I loving every minute of it? Yes. And that's what that says about us. I don't know what to say. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:53 I actually think that in terms of, like the first movie is actually a decent movie i agree remember it was like actually like decently written whatever smart but it wasn't that as scary the second movie and the fourth movie are so disgusting disturbing yeah so it's like they set out different goals each time and i think mission accomplished in this one um the only thing that really annoys me though is like the decision you could have made slightly different choices to make your script a little bit better. Absolutely. Like, it bothered me with the girl.
Starting point is 00:02:33 She's like, don't kill them. And it's like, what, give another, there was another reason right in front of you. Take that other reason. Totally. But does it really matter? I guess not. It's just about the freak shows and the killing of them. And we did that.
Starting point is 00:02:47 I also have a preference that one person lives so we can carry on the franchise with that person or something because it gives more things for the future. But that tends to not happen here. so you know this is this is what it is Tara how are you feeling it is what it is I agree with all that I think the kills were a lot of fun the thing going through the girl that was fun they found a very inventive ways to kill the people good job there wasn't anything like reuse except maybe the knife through the head but overall I think the biggest thing that always bugs me is just when people aren't being smart about like we're we're being hunted by people we need a weapon we need a
Starting point is 00:03:27 to like keep them out can we all come up with a plan to like take care of them i just tend to find that i'm more engaged in those stories because then i'm really on their side of like they might actually win this so that when they ride off on the snowmobile and the heads get cut off it's something that i wouldn't necessarily think is going to happen because the second i saw in the smiling i was like wait never mind they're not going to and then swoop there goes the heads which was also a lot of fun. I just think that there is definite places that would not have taken up more time
Starting point is 00:04:02 to replace certain lines, certain actions with a character being smarter about their choices in regards to a weapon and safety and killing them and doing it like in numbers. Just can't we just have a group where everyone's smart? Like that's what I want. I know that overall though, this is such a fun movie and this.
Starting point is 00:04:22 is following the horps of the the hoops of a horror movie where it's like nobody's really worried about that you have boobs you have nudity you have they're all carrying knives at the end although they well they do do a lot of work and killing your friend with it which is fun um sad but fun um i knew that one i know totally it's like they're following the tropes of all that with which is what people look for in a horror movie and i'm like it's totally fun it's just i've you know you you know, for us, we're watching so many things that I would love it to be both, to be a really well-written script as well as have and follow those fun tropes together. How come in the last couple movies, I have not, none of the actors are people who have gone
Starting point is 00:05:07 on to, I've seen other things. Like this, it wasn't this like, not at all. This was a long time ago, right? Like, there wasn't this in 20, 2007, eight, something around there, I think. I'm going to look up that one dude, because he was really good. He was great. And it's not me saying that the other people weren't good, but he just stood out to me in this movie. I agree. He was really good and grounded.
Starting point is 00:05:28 And, like, sadly, the two girls who got naked were some of the not greatest actresses, actors in which it makes sense. I mean, they're doing the nudity and there's going to be few actors to choose from who are going to do the nudity and be like really good for low pay. The black girl. on Bridget. So there are three girls that got naked, right? Who was the third one? When we opened, there's four people having sex. Oh, yeah, that other, the other blonde girl. Yeah, you're right. Um, I, I was sort of looking at it because, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:07 how we were, we were kind of laughing, kind of hearing their line deliveries. I agree with you about the guy. He was believable. He was grounded. And then there's other moments where a girl would go, I'm not going to remember. I'm trying to find him. where a girl would go, like, say something too loud or like, like, what are we going to do? Like, that wasn't it. But you guys get what I'm saying. Like, and I'm like, oh, if you directed one actor to be believable and grounded, what's the deal with some of the other ones? And then my head just went to, well, you know, they agreed to do nudity.
Starting point is 00:06:44 They're gorgeous. And you just go, it's a fun horror flick. It's fine if they're not great. and honestly it probably it may have been directed that way so that people are actually laughing because that's kind of what what the the B the C movies B movies that go straight to DVD are therefore it's not it's not like you're like guaranteed to see some great acting otherwise it wouldn't be probably straight to DVD this is interesting the dude that um that we liked the guy's name is dean Armstrong and he books a lot he was on this show called
Starting point is 00:07:19 Sullivan's Crossing for seven episodes. He was in an episode of the rabbit hole. He did an episode of Supernatural. He seems to he did... He works. Three episodes of Heroes Reborn. Yeah, he works.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Okay. Great. I'm figured. He has 80 credits on IMDP. Okay. Hell yeah. Get at it, buddy. He was good. This is what he looks like now. Maybe purple can pull the picture, but it just so different that it took me a minute to figure out who I was looking at. Yeah, because this shot a while ago oh yeah he he's like silver fox in it yeah yeah i just because i couldn't find
Starting point is 00:07:55 i was like well this is his name and then i was yeah that's actually his face um so what about this this year was this movie was 2011 2011 okay what about the girls what do you want to know just the girls that get naked bridget and the other girl are they mostly models or are they like working as actors okay let's see bridget is played by a girl named kately Leeb. Yeah. She is loading. She has 42 credits. She is an episode of
Starting point is 00:08:29 Hudson and Rex. Okay. The Spencer sister Christmas with the Prince looks like some of those types of movies, TV movies. More like, yeah, absolutely. This is, yeah, this is like
Starting point is 00:08:47 seems to be all of them. This a lot of them book like straight to DVD kind of a deal but television shows and so I mean more than I listen yeah more more television shows than I have booked yeah me too me too it's like um although I love the indie film circuit so if y'all trying to make a wrong turn eight me and roxy we're here for you it would just be so fun we're here for you yes Franklin o'brien what else has he done exactly because he wrote and directed this um I actually thought it was directed really well and I didn't love the way it was written so that's interesting yeah he has done okay so he did wrong turn four we know um he also wrote a bunch movies that i don't know the marine four joyride three
Starting point is 00:09:32 the marine three he did wrong turn five so we'll see that okay hijacked um Miami magma nope monster rock monster alice upside down okay so he's also doing straight to DVD stuff mostly probably indie indie film stuff um wow alice upside down had penny marshal in it that's funny oh wow um and luke perry oh yeah it does it does look that way though hmm let me see if i can find any trivia on this because i'm so fascinated by these movies totally i i loved how much that i'm sure declan's budget went into what oh god what oh god what oh god here we go i'm super confused by this okay tell me maybe you caught this and maybe everybody's about to make so much fun of me boy this is a prequel to the first three movies did you get that we did not know this
Starting point is 00:10:38 at all where we but here's the thing we don't look up movies prior because we don't want to be spoiled So I didn't know it was a prequel, but honestly, what, okay, we're trying to establish the hillbys. This didn't give me any extra information about them that actually linked it to one, two, or three. Other than the fact that they were kids liked it. No, I don't know. I don't know about that. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Well, the prequel part was really just the first five minutes when they're kids in the thing. They unlock it. Well, hello again, Hewle, H-U-E-L. today's video sponsor lately i've been loving talking about huell because i've used it as an excuse to give you guys updates on my fitness journey back in january of this year i was 218 pounds last time i weigh myself i'm down to 179 but this time i decided to take a fancy picture close to the mirror good lighting and i did have to flex but i'm making progress i'm almost at the six pack look at it almost at the six pack it's almost 40 pounds down and one of the biggest game changers for me has

This was shot in 19 days on location at an abandoned sanatorium in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Okay, good job on that, 19 days. Great job. Sean Skeen, who plays Vincent, also plays three fingers. Okay, who's Vincent? Oh, who's, which one's Vincent?
Starting point is 00:13:40 Ew. I don't know. Ew, and he also. which one's vincent i don't know um let's see vint let me look up vincent because i can't tell based on their pictures who any of them are me neither vincent also i was going to say that the budget on this one probably mostly went for that link to the to the special effects because of them tearing off skin and all that and i thought that looked that all looked really good this one's vincent blue shirt wearing guy oh and he also played three finger ah i hope you got double pay me too that's cool yeah
Starting point is 00:14:12 on him totally um let me go back to some of the trivia weird yeah weird uh okay photos of various crew members can be seen in the files from the mental patients at the asylum that's great love that most of the snow seen throughout was real yeah awesome writer director decklin o'brien plays the doctor in the black and white film short oh when we were watching you know when we put it on when we put on the movie oh yes now i'm with you okay the fondue sequence was filmed on the last day of shooting okay that's funny gross let's get to some spoiler ones um the first movie in the series in which nobody survives the cannibals okay oh right yeah exactly the only film in the wrong term series that does not feature someone
Starting point is 00:15:08 getting killed with an arrow oh right yeah they love their arrows the film and wrong term series where the mutants kill more peers i don't know more peers the most peers oh interesting first movie in the series that has no surviving peers okay that's all similar yeah interesting that you know some of the choices in here like not if it's going to be a prequel to not include the arrow thing but also to like not include them always taking the bodies with them we saw them carry back porter why would they leave the girl there in the snow and then not carry her back and see the girl like fall over and go like and be crying you know the blonde girl Samantha kendrick that had very little lines right this is her first movie ever
Starting point is 00:15:59 oh okay so good job girl yeah you did a good kid yeah she had a line that she was like you guys think Porter smart. Ha, ha, ha. And then one other one. I mean, I would be so stow. If this is the first movie you booked, I would be so fucking stoked. That would be,
Starting point is 00:16:15 because this is a really fun franchise that the horror community is going to go, we don't care that it's not a great script. We just care that it has like blood and gore and you can kind of laugh at it and have fun. What is your, where does this place so far for you? I think one is always going to be up there.
Starting point is 00:16:32 But then two is where we blew up the car, right? And I like that one. honestly it might go in order right now oh really i like this one more than i like three i would go one two four three and you go one two three four i think because like three was where we carried the guy on the back of the tow truck and then three is the camp one right the camp one where they were shooting reality show oh yeah you're right there was some good stuff but i'm with you on that actually i think i would flip four and three because the camp one i was like uh i wasn't feeling like really pulled to it either or feeling like the characters are a little it was a
Starting point is 00:17:21 little silly that's where they were screwing in the in the in the woods a lot remember how we opened to this one right away we got to it which actually i really appreciate like put your they They took the note of like, hey, why are we building a foundation in the beginning, especially if the pacing is going to be boring? Just cut, just get to it. And then why did, I thought it was going to be relevant to the movie that were all Polly or whatever. It wasn't. It didn't come up. Except for the fact that he was a peeping Tom and everybody knew it.
Starting point is 00:17:53 So they weren't worried about him, my guess. Remember halfway through the movie? And I was like, did that guy die or not? He were like, yeah, you died. I couldn't even remember it. I was like, I think that that is the big. bigger problem as well is that maybe these guys are Declan's friends, but I do think that there is a reason you cast a blonde and a, you know, a black-haired dude and a red-haired dude and a blonde. So it's very obvious that they all look different. And I think they didn't make them all very memorable. The two tall dudes were like dead menors for each other. Yeah. They're like twins where I just was like, why wouldn't you dye one of them the hair black or like super blonde?
Starting point is 00:18:34 or something. That was very interesting to me. Yeah, for sure. Because I think that's why it made it less memorable because they look like twins. Or put one of them in a weird bandana the whole time. Yeah, like you have them weird style, have them earring. I mean, literally there's so much you could do. Tattoos.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Yeah. Like something that you could have used to switch it up. But yeah. How many of these are there? Seven. Seven. We've got. We are over the halfway hump baby.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Three more to go. Yeah, I mean, we have writing notes on this one, but it still was a lot of fun. We obviously love this franchise. Like, this is a blast, but it's our job to be like, because I assume you guys also as an audience, you're also smart. And you're probably like, also like, wait, why would they do that? So we're with you on that. Why did this mother freaking bitch say, don't kill them? You're better than that.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Like, no, I'm not. Like, what? And also, or just say, I wait to kill them until we get the spark plugs. Would have been smarter and make us not be annoyed with her as much. Yeah. And then also, or make him play her and just go, it's fine. I was just kidding. Put the lighter.
Starting point is 00:19:39 You F off and then he kills him. But then we wouldn't have a movie. Yeah, but that's why the spark plugs solution work. Yeah, absolutely. So we're with you. It's still fun time. Good job on the direction, Declan. Had a few script notes, but happy to see what five brings us.
Starting point is 00:19:59 Also like that, it's like Declan O'Brien. He's got to be like Irish. and probably Catholic. Maybe. Who knows? You can let us know, Declan, if you're watching this. Also write eight for us. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:20:14 We'll have notes, though, on this script. We're fun to work with. That's it, guys. We love you. Thanks for joining us. Go get your reject stuff. Come on now. RejectNadshop.com.
