And patrons are great too. Thanks guys for supporting us
over there with a full reaction watch along.
Coy.
Hey. Hey.
I like this episode a lot. Did you like?
I like this episode a lot.
it did not reach the heights of the last episode for me,
but it reached different emotional heights.
The last episode I thought said a lot of things
about humanity and philosophy
and the greater experience of power structures.
And this one kind of went the other way.
It leaned more emotional.
It went more about your own inner drive, direction, faith.
If the last episode was about order and corporations
and power structures,
this was kind of about faith and humanity.
Like they kind of pair together well.
Yeah, this one's more my taste and sensibilities.
Well, you like that Jesus stuff.
The themes I'd like to dissect.
Yeah.
Because this was all like inner character conflict.
I like the turns that happen where Creed is,
looks like he's going to get off the hook.
And then he ends up killing the guy.
It's like, oh, my God, is everything Nightcrawler was fighting for?
The Nightcrawler is tempted with a moment on whether or not he should forgive him.
It was cool, like, interweaving.
It was fascinating to, like, go all the way to Savage Land, not explore the Savage Land.
Just see one dinosaur.
And then some Terradact.
Like, they don't do anything there.
So it was like to, they made this bottleneck trial.
But I enjoyed the trial.
And I feel like this actually did a lot for Nightcrawler as a character in this X-Men show.
Like, when I think about Nightcrawl and this X-Men show, he's usually here to just, you know, say some...
Say a couple lines of, like, be good.
You know?
Be a kind person.
And this time, he actually got to have, like,
moments of inner conflict and have some hard choices to make. Colossus too. Colossus as well I felt like
they really they're usually you just think about their powers yeah you know and and but they're beloved by
comic fans because that's where they get their time but in movies and this show even not as much yeah so it's
cool to actually get that illustration I thought it did a nice arc where you start off on Colossus on the birth
of his vengeance path to him realizing the honor Ileana would be to go the complete opposite direction of the
he's been taken.
So I thought they actually did a really tight,
like graphic novel episode
of Nightcrawler and Colossus in this one episode.
Yeah, I was really impressed at it feeling very self-contained.
It felt like one of those things you could just watch this
and get enough context.
Ileana being, you know,
reintroduced in a way and then the closing of him coming back to the mansion
that feels like they told a whole story.
It's also a great way to get Colossus back.
I think we're going to be heading towards a big old fight.
So I think they're bringing in some heavy hitters.
I think this was a cool way to like,
I imagine on a story map, they're like,
okay, we need classes to be beloved again
and prevalent, and this
allowed for that in a really unique way.
I also, I mean, I personally
wasn't swayed by Nightcrawler's argument,
but I also, I liked that.
I was thinking about it.
Like, it caused me to decide,
and I like anything that posits something
and then it makes you decide
whether or not you're on a side.
It gives enough context to be like,
what do I feel?
And I always like when a show can do that.
All he did was just flesh
out why the killer's a killer.
He gave context.
He gave context.
He just gave context.
He just gave context.
Jeffrey Dahmer turned into Jeffrey
Daum.
Yeah.
I'm like, okay, cool.
He was born.
He saw some fucked up stuff.
And now he's like that.
I get it.
But that's not enough for me to like forgive anything.
Like,
I guess the choice is you murder this guy or do you imprison the guy?
And let him live in his mistakes.
Yeah.
And I guess like there's the argument, the strongest argument he was making was maybe by
the trial like he was actually getting emotionally affected by this shit that there's a chance for
atonement in prison.
I saw it as I'm trying to make him
understandable to the mutants who have been through similar.
Absolutely.
All the mutants are like I was, you know, ostracized as a child
and this human was ostracized.
Like these two humans betray their mutant baby.
So two of two mutants betrayed their human baby.
Like I saw the parallels.
I just didn't forgive him.
Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
Well, I thought they used the interesting part of Creed,
which is the fact that he is this child of two very famous villainy mutants.
Which you opened with.
Yeah.
That was really funny.
Like when they got,
because obviously we didn't know
what the story was going to unfold into.
I thought it was going to be like a zero tolerance
or some political episode.
So when the whole thing was like,
and the big reveal what Greg said at the beginning.
I don't remember if the show even established that
in the original show.
I really don't remember.
It's been long enough since that would have happened.
Like,
it would have been the 93 show.
So like it's been long enough.
I have no idea if that's canon yet.
Yeah.
Because the way Nightcaller went about it is this is something that everybody knows.
And I'm like, oh, I guess so.
I guess this is a thing.
I don't think they brought it up season one, because I don't remember a lot of Sabretooth season one.
I know they have, like, a mention of Creed at one point.
Mentioned, yeah, but like, they wouldn't have fleshed out, like, his parents.
Yeah, they didn't do any of that.
And so it was like, yeah, because I thought they were going to, like, bring in the brood.
Brood?
Brood.
Brood.
They were going to bring in the brood again, because they flashed the Sabretooth.
That was the only reason why they flashed the sabertooth.
Oh, that's funny.
so I'm understanding.
There have been times where I forgot to go grocery shopping.
In fact, one time, my post-workout meal right before I'm about to go to work.
I remember I got a slice of flavorless keto bread, put some olive oil spray on it to try to give it some type of flavor.
A scoop of peanut butter with some leftover grapes that certainly tasted like leftover grapes.
Yeah, this is, this is a meal.
That type of sadness is the exact kind of meal.
Hewell has replaced for me.
I'm at this office, eight plus hours a day usually, and Hewle is one of.
my go-toes. We keep the ready to drinks in a lot of our fridges here. And, you know, I'm such a good
boss. I never have any of them because the other hosts, they take the best flavors. It never
upsets me. They don't ever run it by me. It's great. I love being here. But actually, I'm okay
with it because my favorite one is the black edition powder with the banana flavor. I usually
mix it in with my yogurt. Oh, my God. I find myself craving it. I even have it on the days
that are my cheat days. Oh, yeah, I can have it right now. And the heel black edition powder. They have over
40 grams of protein. You can mix it with water or milk or yogurt in about 30 seconds.
It's a complete meal you have instead of food, not a shake on top of food,
with 27 essential vitamins and minerals. And no artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors.
I really do wish the host would stop taking the chocolate peanut butter ones, though.
Those black conditions are pretty off.
The RTG bottle is the Grab and Go version, 35 grams of protein, 7 grams of fiber,
and under $5 a meal.

Thank you to Huell for partnering and supporting the channel once again because I've been
using you guys for my maintenance.
I used you guys when I was doing my crazy cut last year.
Training for a tough mutter right now.
I'm using you guys still.
You guys are just a part of my life no matter when.
Love you.
To my understanding, they've kind of been, I can't say too much here.
I got to be safe.
They've remixed some of the release of the episodes.
it's not exactly like what you expected no no i'm saying like there's there's an original plan
for how to release the episodes oh and sometimes they get remixed it definitely is interesting that
like that's why the structure feels a little it feels weird we've taken two left turns yeah right
because like we went we went we went wolverine to get his out of man team back which felt a little
fast for me yeah and then we went back to main story and now we're back on a side mission and then
i assume we go back to the main story because we've only got three left
Yeah, because that's why one, two, and three, I think.
They were the only ones, and four.
One, two, three, and four were the ones that felt unified.
Yeah.
And then five was a pivot.
Six kind of came back to me.
Seven pivot.
It's only two left.
Yeah, it's been a fascinating structure.
I don't know how.
I mean, this would have to come after six, though, because of, because after the X-Corps situation and stuff.
I feel like this is where this one had to be.
Because it couldn't be after they resolve.
But I wonder if, like, the Sabretooth and Wolverine.
one got pushed earlier because they wanted to remind us of Sabretooth.
Maybe.
Because of this thing.
It was just a weird.
It was a weird pivot.
But they also,
I feel like they need the Adamantium before.
I feel like they needed to have that episode before they do.
Like, these might have swapped,
but it wouldn't have really changed much.
That's true.
That's a great point.
Because the next two episodes are definitely going to be main storyline.
And we need Wolverine,
Adamantam, I'm sure.
We need Colossus back in the team, I'm sure.
Yeah.
Well, they have to.
These feel like that, they were written for that purpose.
Like, the puzzle was like, how do we get these two get?
And the themes of what,
they did with the last season with a self-hating mutant to bastion and what he was creating with
the sentinels and stuff it was a cool turn and then they're they're carrying that over but like last
season was going here you should fear mutants because of the things that they are you know montes
sentinels and you know powers and shit and this one's really digging back into the societal level of
like full-on oppression of a species and then popping over the savage land to make it scopy
and like using the acolytes to add like you know comic book stakes yeah but the end of the day it's a court
episode and while they have a character named apocalypse yes on his way to an apocalypse an exodus they make it they just keep making it harder to argue for the mutant rights yeah you know but i but i do like the uh i do like the idea of how they really explore a creed's childhood wounds like i thought that was actually a really fascinating thing of his abuse a human as the son of two mutants and like being abandoned and then say
Tooth feeling like he's not good enough.
And so that not good enough has been
turned into hatred for his own,
for his kin. And they even brought up
Sabreto's other kid in the last episode.
Wild Child.
Wild child. Yeah. Who's a mutant and a feral little
pup like he wanted. Yeah. So yeah,
I still think it's like a really cool
episode. I think it's a pairing to me
you know, like of tonalities.
Yeah. Yeah. That's it
man. That's what those are our thoughts.
I mean, it was only a 25 minute episode.
It's really solid. I feel like Exodus's
you know I said
I think when they teased him
like the acolytes
and Exodus and those characters
have never appealed to me
as much as a lot of 90s characters
I know a lot of people
I think people got mad
if I remember quickly
when I was like
oh that guy I forgot his name
like Exodus never was like
he never tracked high for me
the brotherhood
and other Magneto
teams I like the concept
of like someone that is so devout
to Magneto
even after his death
they're like trying to speak
the word of Magneto
I just never really connected
to the characters
and how they were used
except for that high line concept.
The rest was always like, eh.
So it was about, you know,
that was Exodus as I saw him.
Well, part of what's happening with this season
that gets me a little concern
about the future of this show,
because obviously I really like this episode.
When you introduce the acolytes of Magneto.
And you kill the main.
And they're fucking like to pretty much disband them all.
They're covering so many stories so quickly.
Yeah.
My concern is that like,
and we're at the point in the season
I think it's fair to say these things.
We're into the third act because it's two episodes left.
But it doesn't feel like the third act.
It feels like late second act.
So that means the third act has to be two episodes.
But what my feeling is, is they've covered so many storylines so quickly.
At some point, we're not going to feel the emotional weight of the ones we need to.
And Wolverine is a great example where when he got his adamantium taken out,
it was like traumatic.
And then we didn't see him much before we got it back.
So that felt like it was just like, and we're back.
And likewise, I don't feel like we were missing Colossus enough.
to feel the return of him.
So there's a lot of things
that are hugely impactful
because in the comics
they take months to years
and the show is
kind of speed running it.
So as much as I'm enjoying the show,
each episode feeling like
a graphic novel is a gift
and a curse
because a graphic novel
can take six months to a year
to experience and this is 25 to 32 minutes
and it's sometimes exciting
but other times I'm like
obviously X-Men have been around
for 64 years or something like that
and there's tons of runs
there's X-Men and X-Men and X-Men
and X-Men and X-Factor and Canning X.
So there's tons to mine from, but I want the emotional weight to feel like it's got that time, too.
Well, yeah.
When you read a graphic novel, it is many comics.
Yeah, it's committing.
And this feel, every episode feels like 25 to 30 pages of a comic.
But it's telling.
But it doesn't, so it doesn't, it's like a graphic novel, but the shortest graphic novel is 180.
Just easy math, 30 pages times six.
That's not actually what would be 22, but I'm not doing that.
So 132 pages, let's say.
And they're telling the 30 page version.
And so as much as I'm enjoying that,
I'm very aware that when I read it,
I connected differently.
So it's adaptation versus translation,
but the two flaws I have with this season so far
is because of that adaptation choice,
the speed is making me feel differently
about Wolverines Atomantium Clause
that are returning those things.
No, I think that points out a very fair thing
that even if you don't,
I don't think you really need the graphic novels,
we never saw the repercussions of Wolverine
not having his adamantium.
Yeah, it was never really,
different. We never really
he was like in the future but we didn't see
the struggle and what the hell was going on with him
internally and like physically
as well. Never was noseless.
We didn't deal with any of that and
I just think it would have been so cool to really
explore. That could have been a season dude. Yeah but that's the thing
I'd watch a feral Wolverine season. A lot of these could be a season like the
acolytes of Magneto post his death is a really fascinating
Oh that could have been at least the rest of the season. It could have been at least
two to three episodes yeah. It could have finished out the season. I don't know. It could
have finished out the season with like the cost and then that could have tied into onslaught
depending how you want to write it because onslaught is coming and I imagine onslaught's going to be
season three but then it's like what we are weird we're and then that could bring us heroes were born
that could bring us spin-off shows I hope we get more spider-man but I don't want to lose the emotional
depth of how it feels when it's a long journey I'm right there with you man I'm right there
with you but really it's still a really great great episode and great season as well yeah
there are just some things that are presenting as some mild concerns that might evolve into
bigger concerns.
That's exactly how I feel.
I'm still very happy X-Men 97 is back
and not on and feels just as big.
Like, I remember thinking about 10 minutes into this episode,
like, man, an X-Men shows on.
And like how happy that made me and how it felt truly X-Men.
But so as to not be shit.
I do think it's worth mentioning a few of the concerns.
Oh, yeah.
At the end of the day, if you really look at what we're saying,
this is the most comic book show that to exist right now
in the last few years.
Comfortably.
No matter what live action show they do,
this is the most comic book.
book show like they're literally just adapting
storylines yeah you know and so it's
cool to see that they're actually
doing the comic books
more faithful than any
any any uh any adaptation right now or any
animated series that's going on right now
all right guys well that's it for today
so thanks so much for being here
and we'll see you for the penultimate next week
whoa
