Starting point is 00:00:00 Ideas plus inspiration. Here's why we need inspiration. Emotional vitality is what it takes to turn ideas into profit. To turn an idea into equity. You've got to have the emotional vitality. You've got to now have the power. The idea as an entity all by itself has no power. But if it's mixed with devotion,
Starting point is 00:00:23 it's mixed with intensity, if it's mixed with commitment, if it's mixed with high energy, If it's mixed with concentration, if it's mixed with enthusiasm, power, that human vitality, see, that's what we call the winning combination, an idea invested with the human drama called power, called strength, called courage, called energy, vitality. See, that's unbeatable. You've got a good idea now. You've got a worldwide idea. You've got a world-shaking idea. You've got an idea that could become a phenomenon,
Starting point is 00:01:08 not only in the 20th, but in the 21st century. No telling. All the pieces are here. And, you know, pieces are always yet to be tested. From the leadership on down. But passing the test and passing some of those crucial times, I'm telling you, it could be a phenomenon. of the 20th and 21st century, which you've got here.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And to be a part of that is immense. It's awesome. There's nothing that could compare to it. So I'm asking you to see if you can, number one, refine all of the ideas that come into your possession. Don't miss the training. Don't miss a chance to go hear the story one more time. Hear someone else's story one more time.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Learn how to recruit one more time. Learn how to sell. one more time. Learn how to sponsor one more time. Learn how to invest your life one more time, how to manage your time, learn it one more time, go back through it one more time, how to not only build but get your arms around it, not or recruit somebody to take care of them, not only plant the garden but water and make sure it's vital for the future. That's going to test your patience. It's going to test your imagination. It's going to test your resolve. I'm asking you to refine all of the ideas that come into your possession, but number two, now you've got to mix them with power,
Starting point is 00:02:31 mix them with vitality. It's called early and late. To launch something, you've got to burn a little midnight oil. If you ask the farmer to go bowling in the spring, I'm telling you, he would laugh you into oblivion. You can't go bowling in the spring. And just make that note, for all of you, this is springtime. This is opportunity. Make some deals with your family and say, hey, family, for the next little while,
Starting point is 00:02:54 I've got to work around the clock. I know a lot of you are part-time. You've got to work around the clock for a little while to get something launched. Once it gets into orbit, I'm telling you, then by fives and by tens and by 50s and by hundreds, right? You start attracting somebody to your organization. But at first, you've got to pour on the intensity, pour on the vitality, and pour on the power. Now, here's what's exciting. You've got plenty.
Starting point is 00:03:19 I mean, you're probably only using a little piece of what you've got available deep inside, your heart and soul. You've got the brains, that's easy. You've got the mentality, no question about that. Recognizing an idea and refining it, all of you've got the ability to do that. But here's what you've got capacity that you probably don't even know you've got.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Plenty of vitality to give it life. You've all got that. None of you lacked the capacity for that. I'm just asking you in the next little while to launch something that can be significant for you and your family for the future. Here's the key. Pour it on.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Pour it on. Day and night. Day after day. Person after person. City after city. Meeting after meeting. Phone call after phone call. Presentation after presentation.
Starting point is 00:04:12 This next burst of a little while I'm asking you to pour it on. Because it'll launch you into orbit. And orbit, you know, you effortlessly go what? About 17,000 miles an hour. effortlessly. And some of you haven't got up to 17,000 miles an hour yet, but just wait. As soon as you get into orbit, but pour it on, all the vitality, all the mentality, everything you can bring to bear, pour it on, especially in the birth of a new idea, a new system,
Starting point is 00:04:45 a new program, a new enterprise. Now, here's what else I hope you'll find here. Guidelines. I've got some experience to drive. from the last 35 years I've been lecturing outside of my own companies, my own companies that I put together way back in the beginning before I started lecturing for the public. I want to draw from that experience, things I'm going to share with you today. Here's what I want my guidelines to finally do.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Make this note. Turn response into results. That's what I'm all about. Trying to help people turn response into results. You've responded by spending your money in your results. time. I appreciate that. And you've already responded by giving me some of your attention and starting to take notes. I appreciate that. But that's not the end of it for me. Here's what I want this day to do for you. I want it to be translated into coin. I want it to be translated into bottom line. I want it to be
Starting point is 00:05:43 translated into equities of heart, mind, soul, and purse. All of those things that all of us can enjoy. That is my ultimate goal for being here today. And if I couldn't accomplish that, I've got plenty of other things I could do. I don't need to be here. I could be riding my motorcycle on the Jeep trails today. I don't need to work this hard. But I gladly come here, roll up my sleeves, go to work, and sweat and labor for a while, drawing from my experience, because a chance to invest a piece of my life into this many lives is an awesome experience. But here's what I finally want, some results. Results is the name of the game. That's the final essence of effort. results. That's the final essence of learning. Results, not learning for learning sake.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Some teachers teach for others to learn. That's not me. Some teachers teach for others to accomplish. That is me. I want ideas to affect your bank account. I want ideas to affect your relationship with your family. I want ideas to affect your leadership skills, your momentum for the future. That's what I want. Turning, response, into results. Now, to get the most out of the day, make these quick notes. And then we're going to start our first subject. Number one, be thankful. Can't beat that as a climate for receiving more than you've got,
Starting point is 00:07:12 and that is to be thankful for what you've already got. And in America, that should be easy for all of us to be thankful. No one country has been such a depository of all the gifts of the world over the last 200 years in America. The ethnic extremes have been flowing in here for the last 200 years bringing with them their gifts. And we've been beneficiary of all those gifts. We live better than anybody else in the world.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Guess what we are today sitting in this ballroom, downtown San Francisco, March 95. We're the envy of most of the world. They wish they could be sitting in your seat with all of your challenges. They would gladly take all of your challenges if they could just sit in your seat. The envy of the world. Here we are. I did a seminar once at Clear Lake, a little ranch up there with a neat place to conduct a seminar back in the old days when we only had, you know, 40 or 50 for a two-day seminar. And we were there Friday, evening, Saturday, Sunday.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I got there a little bit late after most everybody had arrived, drove from various parts of California up to Clear Lake. And I couldn't believe it. When I got there, this little parking area out in front of the lodge, all right? all the fancy cars, Cadillacs, Nelderado's, one Ferrari, one Rolls Royce. I mean, you couldn't believe this parking lot. And I walked in, sure enough, good-looking California crowd. My opening remarks were, ladies and gentlemen, I think the rest of the world would find it strange
Starting point is 00:08:47 that we have all come here this weekend to try to figure out how to do better. The rest of the world would find it strange. Guy in his Rolls-Royce saying, I've got to get here and find out how to get another one of these Rolls-Royces. the rest of the world would bother their mind, right? What we've already got, they wish they had. But here we are enjoying the fruit of the land, enjoying the best. And now having an opportunity dropped in your lap to revolutionize your life
Starting point is 00:09:19 and your income and your future, financial independence, power, leadership skills, anything else you could possibly want. To bless yourself, the people around you, your friends and your family, take them all with you. What else could you possibly want? So number one, let us be thankful. Here's what Thanksgiving does. Opens up the channels.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Opens up the doors, opens up the windows, opens up the possibilities, be thankful. Here's what shuts all the doors and locks up the channels to receive nothing in that cynicism. All you have to be is a practiced cynic.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And the doors closed, and the channels close, and the windows closed, and the opportunities closed. And even though life has abundance upon which to bestow, does not want to bestow it upon a cynic. Why? It will not be wisely used.
Starting point is 00:10:04 It will not be transported. It will not be invested in other people. It will not be multiplied and grow. So away with cynicism. Don't become a cynic about the government. Don't become a cynic about money. Don't become a cynic about what's happening. We're going to make our contribution, but don't be a cynic about the rest.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Why? It shrivels the soul. In some of the most unseemly people and circumstances, and institutions, there is some value. And what we're about to do is to reach out there into every home possible and see if we can't breathe life into some of that value. Someone thought was wretched until you
Starting point is 00:10:43 we'll turn in to the next success story. So let us not despise. Let us not be cynical. Let us not be cruel in neither language nor heart nor presentation. But let us be kind. Let us be accepting. for whatever value there is out there.
Starting point is 00:11:02 And then let us figure out how we can render the best value possible and make a contribution second to none. So be thankful, not cynical. Now, here's the next one. To get the most out of today, be eager to learn. Some of you are already doing well, but be still eager to learn, no matter how well you're doing, because you never know when the next idea can multiply what you've got
Starting point is 00:11:30 by two by three by five by ten. Some of the great fortunes were not made until after 60, 65. Having gathered all that experience, now a refinement starts a whole avalanche of power, possibilities, opportunities. So no matter how far some of you have gone, and I know there's some success stories,
Starting point is 00:11:53 some dazzling stories in this room already. I appreciate that. But whatever you do, still listen carefully, because the next five years, no matter what you've done the last five or the last ten, the next five could multiply it by two, by three, by five, by ten. So be eager to learn. We in the Millionaire's Club invite a billionaire once in a while come talk to us.
Starting point is 00:12:20 And he says, well, you guys are doing okay, but... Come on, get your act together. No telling what you can accomplish. So no matter how far along you are, still be eager to learn and turn. your skills and your experience into even more success. Now here's the next one to get the most out of today. Argue later with all my stuff. I wish we had time to debate it all today.
Starting point is 00:12:47 I'm going to raise some issues that are probably up for debate because here's what I love to do, provoke thought. That's my main objective is to provoke thought. I haven't got all the answers. No one person's got all the answers. I've got a few that from my experience have served me so well. I'm going to share some of those with you today, but I've only got a few answers.
Starting point is 00:13:09 But here's what I hope I have the ability to do. Stir your thought processes. Because you've got plenty of answers, deep inside. You've got plenty of answers in your own brains. If somebody can stir the pot, if somebody can get you to mentally think and wonder and ponder, some of the things I'm going to share with you, telling you a lot of answers you've been searching for
Starting point is 00:13:28 over the next few weeks, the next few months, the next couple of years will start flowing once it gets stimulated. That's what I'm for. to stimulate thought, not to give you all the answers. But I do want you to argue later, underline it is important to debate a good idea. That's why we have two parties in Congress to debate good ideas. Someone says, I've got a great idea for the country. We say, wonderful, put it on the table.
Starting point is 00:14:03 He puts it on the table. We ask three questions. The guy says, I withdraw my great idea. I didn't think about those questions. Well, it's a good thing we didn't try it on the country. That's what debating is for. So here's what I'm asking you to do. Find somebody to debate with.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Find somebody to look at both sides of the question. To examine the values from the top and the bottom and the side and all around. Don't proceed unless you have thoroughly debated a good idea. Now if you haven't got anybody to debate with, here's the next clue. Debate with yourself. Here's the question. Is it or isn't it? Will it or won't it fit into my moral code?
Starting point is 00:14:47 Will it or will it not be valuable? Should I or should I not invest that much time and that much money? I'm telling you some things I went off and did in the early days without proper debate. Some things I went for cost me too much. If I would have known what it was going to cost, I never would have paid. But I went too quickly without doing what something that scripture tells us. Here it is for your notes. It says, count the cost.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Always evaluate the cost. What's it going to cost in terms of heart and soul and treasure, equities, time, friendship, family. What's it going to cost? Yes, I know what's out there. Yes, I know what the possibilities are, but what's going to cost. You've always got to balance the cost with the value. And that's what debate is all about, evaluating, evaluating.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Now, some things, you know, we're just going to learn by experience. And after we've had the experience, perhaps bitter experience, we will say, hey, I paid too much. I paid too much time. I paid too much money. I paid too much effort. I paid too many years. The better and sooner we can learn to evaluate, debate, discuss both sides of the issue.
Starting point is 00:16:04 It's going to be valuable. Now here's a key point. Parents, let us get our children ready to debate the major life issues the next five years. Get your children ready to discuss. us and debate the major life issues. Use as example some of the major life issues we've debated over the last lot of years. Communism said 75 years ago, capital belongs in the hands of the state, not the people. We debated with that philosophy politically the last 75 years.
Starting point is 00:16:39 We said no, capital belongs in the hands of the people, not in the hands of the state. What creates a dynamic society is capital invested in the people that bring goods and services. to the marketplace. Not capital invested in the state, thinking they're all-wise and all-knowing. They tend to become tyrannical. They tend to become despots. They tend to become dictators.
Starting point is 00:17:02 It doesn't work to the benefit of the people. What's best is ideas, values, capital invested in the hands and the minds of the people, bringing goods and services to the marketplace. That's what makes it a vital society. That's where the protection is. Capital in the hands of the many, not in the hands of the few. What a political idea to debate over the last 75 years.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Now, thankfully, we won the debate. The last part of it was called the Cold War, debating whether or not the people should serve the state or the state should serve. Finally, in its last gasping throes of hostility with missiles pointed at each other, Finally, we bankrupted the communist philosophy by getting them to overspend. Ronald Reagan was brilliant.
Starting point is 00:17:58 He said we'll build a thousand missiles. We're not going to use them. That'd be silly. Nobody wants to blow up the world. Sure enough, I bet if we build a thousand missiles, they'll build a thousand. If we put ten warheads on each one, guess what they'll probably have to do. Put ten warheads on each one. How brilliant.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Then he said, oh, let's build 5,000 more. We built 5,000 more. Put 10 warheads on each of those. Communists says, oh, got to have 5,000 more. Got to build 10 more warheads on each one. And what was last that broke the camel's back was Star Wars. They kind of made fun of Ronald Reagan with Star Wars. Guess what they said?
Starting point is 00:18:45 Star Wars is going to cost $500 billion. to a trillion dollars. We can't afford it. But in private conversations, Ronald Reagan says, yes, it's going to cost $500 billion to a trillion dollars. So that's what they're going to have to spend. And after about the first 100 billion that was pledged to the effort was allocated, finally it broke the back
Starting point is 00:19:11 of the Communist Empire. And they said, we're out of money. We can't build any money. more missiles, we can't build Star Wars, and the back of the communist philosophy was broken. What a brilliant strategy! Not to fire a shot, not to send a soldier in harm's way, but to spin the communist philosophy into oblivion. Now, the debate of some ideas, right, usually don't become that hostile. In the home, in the school. But guess what we've got to do in the school? We've got to debate the major life issues.
Starting point is 00:19:48 We've got to get our kids ready to defend what they believe religiously, socially, morally, and even politically. Somebody once coined the words, excellent words for your notes. If you don't stand for something, you'll probably fall for anything. You've got to learn to stand for something. You've got to learn to defend what you believe. If you believe liberty, you've got to learn to defend it. If you believe capitalism, you've got to learn to defend it.
Starting point is 00:20:16 If you believe freedom, gotta learn to defend it. If you believe a moral idea, you've got to learn to defend it. Don't let your children be vulnerable to all that's going to be happening the next five years getting ready for the turn of the century by not being able to give an account of their beliefs and their systems.
Starting point is 00:20:37 That's part of what TPN is all about, strengthening the belief systems out there, giving more ideas for people to ponder and think and wonder about that can help change their health, change their life, change their moral compass, give them something with which to wonder, ponder, debate. We can't render much better service out there in the marketplace than a flow of good ideas based on experience
Starting point is 00:21:05 from a wide range of voices that have got the credentials to tell their story. What an opportunity. So, argue with the ideas that come your way. debate everything that happens for you. Now here's why. When you finally get ready to act, here's what you want to be able to do. Make sure what you do is the product of your own conclusion.
Starting point is 00:21:30 I can't give you wiser words on this March day 1995, San Francisco. Make sure what you do is the product of your own conclusion, meaning you've listened and you've pondered and you've wondered and then you have acted based on your own conclusion. based on your conclusion that it's a good idea, based on your conclusion that it's right, based on your conclusion that it's worth investing time, money, effort, energy, and a piece of your life into. That's the clue. Do what is the product of your own conclusion. Key phrase,
Starting point is 00:22:04 be no one's slave. Don't be a follower, be a student, be no one's disciple, except the Lord's. Now here's the last part. Get the most out of today, and that's to listen well. It's not going to be easy. It seems like most of our life is going on outside these four walls, right? A lot of us, our kids are out there and our family's out there and our business is out there and most of our organization is out there. You know, the banks are out there and the money's out there. And, you know, the people are out there and the market's out there and our home's out there and everything's out there while we're in here. Sometimes with most of your life seemingly going on out there, it's not that easy.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I know sometimes to just let that go for a while, concentrate here and really zero in. Make the best of the day. but I'm going to ask you to do your best. I'm going to do my best. Thank you for listening. Continue strengthening your mind by subscribing and listening to our other episodes.
