Starting point is 00:00:00 How do you define success now? Oh gosh, I define success as just really being true to yourself, your own purpose, your own mission, your own authentic self. How do you see the future of humanity and the world looking like? Well, I'm a total optimist and what I've been guided to in my own. What does presence mean in a business context? And why is it the piece most companies are missing right now? Yeah, presence is a... What does it take to walk away from the pinnacle of everything you have been told success looks like?
Starting point is 00:00:38 My guest today built two Inc 500 technology companies in Silicon Valley. He was rubbing shoulders with Gavin Newsom, Apple Marketing Genius, and some of the most ambitious entrepreneurs of his generation. By every conventional measure, he was winning. And then one day, through a single newsletter, a single invitation, everything changed. Farrell is the co-founder and worldwide executive director of Humanities Team, a global non-profit that has grown into a movement of nearly 700,000 people across more than 150 countries, all dedicated to one central idea, that we are more deeply connected than our separation-based thinking
Starting point is 00:01:22 has allowed us to realize. He co-founded the organization with Neil Donald Walsh, author of conversations with God and has collaborated with some of the influential voices in science and spirituality. Greg Braden, Bruce Lipton, Lynn McTaget, and many more. His new book is a new universal dream, the story of his five-decade journey from chasing the American dream to building something he believes matters more. Steve, welcome to the resilient mind. Yeah, thank you so much for having me, Samba. It's a pleasure to be here with. You've been looking forward to it. Super excited to have you here. So let's start at the beginning, right? You were living a life that most people will call a dream. The Inc-500 company,
Starting point is 00:02:09 young presidents, organizations, peers, like the peers you're interacting with, went on to run states and global empires. From the inside, what did life actually feel like? Was there a gap between what it looked like and what it felt like? Yeah, so, well, let me explain it this way, as we know for all of us, right, including listeners. Life is a very, very present. thing, you know, is there anything more precious than our life, right? What we do with it. And so I grew up, as you mentioned, or let me, to bring in a little more context, I grew up with a single mom, divorced, six brothers and sisters in a little home. So probably like most people listening. And then from that home, all of this unfolded, as you mentioned, I then out of college, I moved out to California. I was, I started shortly after moving out there. I started my first. first company, and then I started the second one. I was in the right place at the right time, and so these did take off. And they went from two guys with used furniture and barely could cover their rent to some big organizations. The first one grew to $75 million in revenue,
Starting point is 00:03:16 sold it to NEC, the Japanese conglomerate. And the second one, inside of two years, grew to $75 million. So that was the American dream. And as you mentioned, I was actually was the second president of the young entrepreneurs organization out there for San Francisco and Silicon Valley. So I was working even then with some of the people that have grown into this whole, you know, gazillionaire class and then YPO, as you mentioned, Gavin Newsom and these others. So it was an extraordinary time. I learned a lot. What I saw, though, or what happened here, Samba, is in the course of that whole American dream thing
Starting point is 00:03:55 unfolding, I also went through my own awakening experience. In fact, with Neil Donald Walsh, who co-founded, as you mentioned, humanities team was 501C3 nonprofit with me. It was his book, actually, book one that came out in the mid-90s that I read, which really kind of was the door opening device that kind of started this whole, I'll call it, awakening experience. Many are having today, there's, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:20 many would say there's an emerging global consciousness, you know, in today's world. Well, what is that? What happened to me? What it is is this notion. that everywhere, this Einstein called it an optical delusion, you know, that we think we're separate from each other and from the earth and the divine of our understanding and stuff, even though back through mystical times, they said that just simply isn't true. You know, at a quantum level, everything's deeply interconnected, interrelated, and interdependent. And as we know,
Starting point is 00:04:48 scientists call that entanglement, right? So I was awakening to that, that holy smokes, you know, I'm part of something larger. I'm like, I'm a finger on a hand, a hand. hand on a body. I'm part of something larger. My true self with a capital S is not a mortal body here. It's something larger. And the world around me, even in the mid-1990s, was not that healthy. It was rather challenged even then. And then we don't need to talk about today. Right. So that did seep into me deeply. And over a period of months and years, it led to me losing my passion for business and these associations that I was a part of YEO, YPO, and that lifestyle. I lost my passion.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I felt like I was playing a kids game that I mastered, you know, or been fortunate and mastered maybe both starting businesses as a co-founder, being the CEO and driving those businesses to growth. Yeah, but I felt like in today's world, if I keep doing this, you know, they call it a serial entrepreneur. If I keep doing this at the end of my life, which is precious, am I going to feel good about this life? Am I going to, well, I feel like I contributed the way I should. And my answer was a very simple, no, no. I was looking out that second business, we raised a couple hundred million dollars. It was a luxury, luxurious headquarters.
Starting point is 00:06:19 I'm looking out the window. And I'm thinking, what am I doing here? What am I doing here? And And so a few short years later, I'm off out of us, sold all of those interests, left those organizations, even moved my family to Boulder, Colorado, helped Neil Donald Washington. We launched Humanities team together. Now it's a 26-year-old 501C3 nonprofit, which I know we'll talk about, and then got on with this whole new way of living. And, you know, where did I find success? So I found real success here, not there.
Starting point is 00:06:54 You know, their materiality, as many people know, you can have a fortune, which I, you know, I did well. I wasn't in the gazillionaire class. You know, if you're not feeling well, it doesn't matter what the home is or the Ferrari or the, you know, the yacht. You know, if you're feeling not well, it doesn't matter your surroundings. You just feel that. In fact, if you have luxurious surroundings, sometimes you feel even worse because it's like,
Starting point is 00:07:21 why do I feel so terrible, you know? Right. So I did not find it there. But this whole what we call conscious living, sometimes they call it the awakened way, it goes by different name, that this is where I found it. It was like, oh, boy, you know, where I'm in this connection mode, in this reverence mode, in this mode where I'm living into my higher self, I'll call it, you know, which is kind of like this, a finger on a hand on a body where it's about more, you get off of the little me. It's the larger world. Some called it altruistic. For me, it's not even altruistic. It's just self-identification. Well, I'm part of this, you know, larger world. And just like a family, if you're part of a family, you're mature, responsible, take positive action, right?
Starting point is 00:08:10 Well, this is now you live into that instead of the little me with my own preferences and that. So that's a real quick response to your answer, to your question. And so right now we have this idea. of success that is pushed on by society, like financial independence, social status. How do you define success now? Oh, gosh, I define success as just really being true to yourself, your own purpose, your own mission, your own authentic self. I, as part of this whole conscious living thing, see, I don't any longer consider my mortal
Starting point is 00:08:49 body as like a one-time thing. As you know, Hindu and conscious living are saying that isn't true at all. You're actually, there's an afterlife and we go to an afterlife and then we embody again and so on. For me, success is in this physical life, which is one of many, am I being the person that I want to be? Am I in service the way I would want to be in service? Am I fulfilling the mission and purpose for which I came? That's the whole thing right there. It has nothing to do with materiality.
Starting point is 00:09:21 I actually do live in a nice home. I'm on the first floor of my home, which is the whole humanities team floor. We have our studio and offices and things from my Silicon Valley days that I was able to afford. But I haven't had a paycheck actually since 1999. So, you know, so, yeah, success has nothing to do with anything material or any position or something. And what was that transition like? Because from someone looking outside with that initial definition of success, which a lot of people will say that is what success is, and then you decide to go and do something completely different. How did people respond around you, socially, psychologically?
Starting point is 00:10:07 What does that process like to you? Well, you know, then when I made those decisions and left Silicon Valley, it was challenging, you know, really was because people didn't understand me and why I would make that decision. and people who love me even like in YPO were like, why would you leave? You know, what would you give this up for? One of the venture capitalists on my board of my second company said, let's put you on them more boards and you can, you know, you'd be great at helping entrepreneurs grow their companies and because you've been through the old experience. So, you know, it's challenging.
Starting point is 00:10:41 It's very challenging making that you turn. You lose a lot of friends, even family members don't understand you. That's why I wrote that book, A New University. I actually wrote a second book that is just out now too called The Inner Way, Reclaim the Truth of Who You Are and Why You're Here, which is free as Kendall on Amazon. And I wrote these books to actually help people's legs get strong, I'll call it, where they choose this. Because in today's world, a lot of people on the more traditional path, in truthfully, aren't
Starting point is 00:11:13 that happy, right? There's a fair amount of anxiety and challenge with the traditional path. People that have kids are wondering, are they going to, are the kids going to be okay living on this planet, you know, 20, 40, 50 years from now, right, because of the way we're living on the planet. So there's a lot of concern and I think a lot of inner reflection going on today. What I find, now that I'm all these years out, it's actually gotten a lot easier. I'm not losing friends anymore.
Starting point is 00:11:42 There's a little more some respect for what I did. And even people asking me, how did you do that? How did you get through the challenges when your family asked you, you know, when coworkers were saying why? And then what did you do? Take me through the step by step of how you did that because there may be a tool or two for me, you know. So that's why I wrote these books is just to lay out that whole step by step of what,
Starting point is 00:12:08 how I made those decisions, how I stayed strong through that. process and then got to today where, thank God, today I'm doing the work I'm doing, because this is so needed in today's world. And there's a quote from your work, like from Einstein, that human beings are experiencing themselves as being separate. And you mentioned this earlier, the optical illusion of consciousness. Yeah. What does living inside that delusion actually look like in daily life? And how can we work, relate and cope with that difficulty to start changing it? Yeah. So how that works is how I grew up and most of us in the Western world grew up, which is, I call it Newtonian and Darwinian. So the Newtonian is, you know, clearly we're separate from each other and the
Starting point is 00:12:53 earth. We're clearly separate from and the divine, I don't know if she's in the, he's in the sky somewhere, I guess. It's very, we're definitely feeling alone. There's no, there's no connection to something. So that can bring in this whole loneliness, anxiety, sometimes even depression thing. Our way of living tends to be very, it's just me. So me, me, me, what are my preferences? What do I want to do? Now, that then leads into more of an extraction way of living, you know, especially if you're an entrepreneur. Let me just, well, I'm going to pedal to the metal.
Starting point is 00:13:23 I'm going to go drive my top or bottom. I'm going to extract and buy at the lowest price minerals from the earth and people. And, you know, because I got to get that top line. I'm going to create my financial wealth. Very transactional, you know, of, look, if you do this, I'll do that, you know, very transactional. That's a very dense reality, more fear-based reality. So you kind of get where I'm going. We grew up that way, right? So what happens is, is everything gets turned on its head as we, as the mystical teachings now are being affirmed by science, where science is saying, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:59 it is actually true that it's more cooperation when we look at nature. You know, it's more connection as we look at it than separation, you know, and sciences will affirm that. It's more, they like to use the term altruism. You know, we become, it's more altruism that, that will lead us than these things. The old style is, is kind of how we grow up. And then as we, if we do the work of just even programs like this, where you can listen in and kind of understand some of this science, but the nonprofit that I lead now, humanities team, actually, we're a nonprofit. So we have all these free programs with Greg Brake and Bruce Lipton and Lynn McTaggart. You mentioned some of these in the introduction, the Sim Heron of free programs where the scientists say it's true. You know,
Starting point is 00:14:46 you're a part of the universe. They use the terms universe, not divine. You know, they, now Sim Heron says, the universe can't be without you. So you ought to be, boy, you ought to walk with good posture. I mean, it's tall and straight, man, because there's no universe without you. You know, you are a finger on the hand of the universe. They'll use the term universe, right? And then they say so start living into that start living into how essential you are to life you know around you your life can't be without you right so so this is where as this whole starts to come in these properties of the universe or divine life can't be without you that you're unbounded that's part of that's one of the features of universe and divine uh everlasting life woo that's a big one you know uh so universe and life it never has no beginning
Starting point is 00:15:35 no end. Science in physics says energy can be neither created nor destroyed. You know, we're energetic beings. Well, what does that mean? So as these things start to filter in, we understand that we actually do have everlasting, like we are unbounded. We're part of this larger hole. As we start breathing into it and living into it, that's when then this like founded thing comes in where we're experiencing our heart opening. We're coming into service. There's more joy. There's actually more miracles and synchronicities, too. that are a part of this because you have a wind at your back and the universe slash divine are supporting you. And you actually feel I have miracles happen all the time.
Starting point is 00:16:14 One big one last night. Are you going to leave us in suspense what the miracle was? No, I will share. In fact, let me read right from my phone because I got texted on all of this. Wow, you know, this was this was one of something. So right here near my home is my sister lives, Kathleen. So I'm in Boulder. She's in Port Collins.
Starting point is 00:16:41 So she wasn't feeling well late yesterday. And she went to an urgent care. And in urgent care, her oxygen level is dropping. They said, oh, my God, we're going to send you to the emergency room. She went to the emergency room. And in the emergency room, she had an anaphylactic reaction. Boy, you know, a lot of times you're gone. You check out the be-sting of some food, anaphylactic reaction.
Starting point is 00:17:06 So she immediately went into ICU and she was entubed, you know, where they actually put a, they're just trying to keep you alive. They put a tube down your throat. That happened last night. Now, I learned about this after a full day. We're actually recording a master class. And so I'm down on my knees saying, okay, God, you know, you brought there. There are so many miracles you wouldn't even believe in my.
Starting point is 00:17:31 life because of the work I do. And again, miracles actually become a part of your life with synchronicities. There's that wind at your back. I'm really just trying to create a flourishing world for people and the planet. And I said, help, you know, unless my sister at a soul level really wants to check out. She may, but I don't think so, in which case she would go now. But if that's not her deep interest, may she be healed? I get a text this morning and she's come out of it. She's talking, she's writing, they're getting ready to pull the whole intubing thing out, and she'll be going home very shortly from something that often just takes somebody's life. So that's just in the last 24 hours. Now, I'm not going to take credit for all of that, but I will say it was
Starting point is 00:18:16 probably a contributing factor. Amazing. I'm happy to hear that your sister is doing, like, well and recovering. And the question that popped into my mind is, with affirmation's prayer, A lot of people intention, like a lot of people have heard about it, might try it but might not see the results that they want. But you've been in this tool for a long time. So is there anything that you've noticed that makes some prayers, affirmations, intentions more effective? And others maybe not as much as effective as they could be. Yeah, so I'm recording actually a whole brand new master class on that yesterday and today. That's exactly what it's about.
Starting point is 00:18:56 It's called Miracles by Design. And so here's what I know. The spot or patch type miracles, which the secret talks about and a vacation in Italy and so on, I don't know about that. And I don't do that. And I'm not going to say that doesn't work because that probably does for some people. What I do know what works are everyday miracles, where they're so numerous. We could sit here for hours, somebody, you and I go.
Starting point is 00:19:24 if I started telling you, your hair would be standing on you. They'd go on for hours, you know, the everyday miracle thing. The everyday miracle thing is, yes, there's, they're definitely daily practices and their rituals that are part of our life, you know, which include meditation and prayer and walking in nature, even spiritual music and artwork and things. And then rituals in terms of how we eat and sleep and all of this. But what's going on here with all of this is we're, and we've kind of surfaced some of these things already, is we're coming back into this understanding that I'm actually part of something larger. And so through meditation and prayer, there's an inner way process.
Starting point is 00:20:10 That's why my book is called the inner way, reclaim the truth of who you are and why you're here. It's not just the outside physical world. I'm now going within, I'm quieting the world. I'm creating spacious. where I can go within, and I can then be in connection with and communing with it and reverence with the one that I call the divine, which we can all do, you know, and most do through some form of prayer or meditation. I do both. We can go deeper than that into an intention setting, and then even deeper in that into metaphysics. So, and you have some people like Joe Dispenza who,
Starting point is 00:20:46 he doesn't use the word metaphysics, but he's talking about the metaphysical. So in meta, And in metaphysics, as I'm explaining it in the way I do it, it's all tied to this. I'm looking at the way the Earth is now, where we have 8 billion people not doing so well, in many cases. The Earth or planet or home also not doing so well. So in my metaphysics, I'm seeing what evolution will bring in time if humankind, if we change our way of living on the planet, which is more caring and sharing and in service and making consumer choices. support the planet and support people. And I'm seeing healing and well-being like that.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Last night I'm seeing Kathy. You know, I actually could see her as I was praying. I could see them rolling her down the hall when she was in, you know, they had to airlift her actually to this hospital. And I could see her, you know, on that tray where there. And then this morning, you know, read these messages. So the way is in my understanding, there isn't somebody in the sky saying, okay, that prayer is good.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Yes to that one, no to that one. It's not like that. It's not like that. It's actually more, it's this culture, it's this way that we're living our life. Or if we're living into this one, this larger body as a part of the earth and even you could call it universe. And where we've moved our little preferences out of the way, the little me into the larger me preferences. The wind is just there supporting you all the time. Right now, the equity markets are being pounded.
Starting point is 00:22:21 investments, guess who was guided out before that happened? You know, I haven't had any income since 1999. So you know what happens to me? Before the market comes, I'm guided. You get out, man, I get out and I sit on the sideline. That's, I mean, I can talk about miracles all day long. How do these things happen? So, and here's the thing, too, there's no, there is no favoritism that's played. How could there be? You're an equal part of the universe and divine as I am. Are we supposed to say he's going to get more than him, her? No, there's no preference plate at all. This is clearly, this is just us, how fully and holy and completely and authentically
Starting point is 00:23:04 are we really living into it. And then boy, then we'll come at your back, you know, investments, sister, home, studio. I mean, I could go on and on and on. This stuff is just coming in to support you. And when you talk about being guided, are you referring to intuition or is it something different. Yeah, so into it's the still small voice, which is also called the soul's calling, which often is is intuition or gut feeling. So in terms of layman's terms, it would be intuition and gut feeling, especially where it's coming back in a pretty big way. It's really
Starting point is 00:23:39 felt. And, and I'm sure that you immediately can go to in your own life. Where you followed that, it worked out pretty well. And where you didn't, you know, boy, you know, you hit some, you know, there were some pretty, pretty rough times. So that's what we're talking about. Yeah, it's people would call it intuition and gut feeling. Two questions simultaneously came to me and then one got like, not formulated. So when it comes to a lot of the root causes of personal challenges that people are facing, isolation, anxiety, depression, when people start drilling, they're part of a larger hole,
Starting point is 00:24:14 do those, I'll use the word, go away because that's the root cause, or do they get better. We're, you know, it's the extent to which we're living into these things. So, because it's really not a black and white all or nothing thing. It's more of a deepening thing. As I see life, it's an ascending staircase where, you know, if we're living life this way for for good purposes, we're just climbing an ascending staircase. And there's no there there in my understanding that you actually keep climbing, even the masters that we know of. is my understanding of how that works. It's not really black and white.
Starting point is 00:24:54 It's more of a deepening. And the more we authentically live into it, you don't need to be perfect or excellent because we'll push it away if we think we did. Because we say, I can't do that. But if it's best effort, okay, we can all say, I can do that. I can give it my best effort.
Starting point is 00:25:09 If we're giving it our best effort and really living into it and stretching as we need to today, because things are quite challenging out there. then we deepen into it and these things come on in fuller measure. And looking at your work, your pillars of living your conscious living framework, which one, if someone is busy, they feel overwhelmed, or maybe they're a little bit skeptical,
Starting point is 00:25:40 which one would you either recommend or which one would be a minimum viable process for them to try out? So, yeah, this is a good question. and they're out in the mainstream, I'll call it. You know, there are a lot of people that might be in that category, most actually, probably. And what I would say is, you know, let me come back to where I started the precious. Life is a precious thing. It's a really precious thing. Boy, we don't want to, you know, in this life, let's just really be and do what we can to be our best self and grow into, you know, what our soul wanted us to be.
Starting point is 00:26:15 most people can relate to a soul here to. If you're listening and you haven't tried these things, I would say the odds are probably very high, that there's also some sense of not being right where you want to be right now, where there's some sense of challenge that's probably even more than a little bit. And I would say then this would be a good time to try some of what I'm talking about, just creating stillness, even now, you know, just where you just kind of close your eyes and go within.
Starting point is 00:26:49 And as people do this anyway, but in their prayer, meditation, and just kind of, there's something called sip of the divine, you know, which is kind of just you go within, quiet yourself for only three minutes. You go within and you say, what do I need to know? Just only give it three minutes, not longer. What do I need to know? Well, you'll be shocked at what might come back to you that could help start. you on this journey. One, because of the wisdom that comes back, and two, that even something
Starting point is 00:27:19 comes back is like, what was that? Who said that? Where did that come from? This is this one, there's a source, right? Consciousness with a capital C is a source. You know, that's why I'm using the term divine. It just as, and I think people were relating earlier when I was talking about this gut feeling and intuition. Most people would say, yeah, I've had that. Okay, where's that coming from. We're talking about the very same thing here. And just getting, create the stillness and start to begin a process of trust so you can begin living into this. Then if you, if you're going somewhere, again, they're free books, including my own, you know, and free programs, including our own at humanities team, that go into all of this much more deeply. And I remember my own journey
Starting point is 00:28:03 because my background is psychology and neuroscience. And I was like, science, science, science, science. And then I know the first shift that happens was a book that was written by a neurosurgeon who was in a coma. Neurosurgeons guides to heaven. So he talks about his experience in the coma. Alexander? Is that Dr. Epstein? I believe so. I can't remember his name.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Yeah, he's creative programs with us. Yeah. He's a big neurosurgeon. Yeah. And I remember that really, like for the first time I was like, oh, maybe there's something more than what my mind. was perceiving. And then one of the things I did was I did a year of experimentation. I was like, okay, I'm going to suspend my beliefs and try this meditation stuff and
Starting point is 00:28:48 read some of these books and do these works. And if I do not like it or if I'm like, okay, this doesn't work for me, I'll just pick up my beliefs at the end of the year. And it's interesting because, and you can let me know what your thoughts are, it's almost like you have to try to kind of see the changes to believe it. It's like if someone is telling you, you're like, yeah, yeah, but once you have experiences, you're like, maybe there's something onto this, and then you try it a little bit more, and then you see some of the synchronicities, the miracles happening, and then you almost
Starting point is 00:29:21 buy in that way through that experience. Yeah, no, exactly right, as it should be. You know, our life is precious and our beliefs are important, and, you know, we're not going to just be, like, in the wind blowing all over the place. There needs to be some real evidence here, and no better evidence that. and trying something and then there are these results. And then you try a little more and more results. And then that's why you would move off of older beliefs is because you realize there's
Starting point is 00:29:48 some new important wisdom that's come in. Dr. Evan Alexander is very respected by the science establishment, the academic establishment. He wrote Proof of Heaven, which is maybe what you read. He created a master class, a couple of them with us, guiding people to, yeah, there's an afterlife. I mean, his story is extraordinary. I'm sure you probably remember that, which was, it was an NDE and your death experience where, wow, I mean, I couldn't even try and explain all of that in a few minutes, but it was extraordinary. Yeah, definitely was extraordinary.
Starting point is 00:30:21 And so in terms of looking at your work right now and everything that's going on in the world, because there's a lot. How do you see the future of humanity and the world looking like? Well, I'm a total optimist and what I've been guided to in my own, inner work, my own vision that I've come upon is as shockingly a tipping point and turning point to this way of living, a new global consciousness that's emerging actually right now. And a tipping point by 2040, which, wow, that's only 14 years away. So not ubiquity.
Starting point is 00:30:58 That's 8 to 10 percent, but that's still a healthy chunk of the planet. And I think that I think that's actually what we're working toward in humanities team. And we have a streaming platform that's the largest streaming platform for this consciousness raising activity and master classes and things. It's called Humanity Stream Plus. And that's really, that's what we do with all the revenue is we put it into developing programs and summits. And we're actually at the United Nations working on a program now.
Starting point is 00:31:26 And we have 70 country coordinators. I think you mentioned there were, you know, we're in a lot of countries, 70 volunteer country coordinators now. And all of our work is designed for one purpose. It's to create, when I say, you know, we're going to create. see turning point or tipping point, what does that mean? What that means is that we create flourishing for humanity and the Earth, which means needs are met, human needs are met, planetary needs, the Earth's needs are met is what flourishing means, as opposed to where we are today
Starting point is 00:31:55 when you look at documentaries that say, whoa, you know, we keep going on this path and it's going to be dangerous for kids. So we're this way of living that I'm talking about honors who we really are, getting into like what Evan Alexander brings in and our other programs bring in. So we actually live, you know, more joyful lives. And we're creating a way of living on the planet that creates flourishing, you know, instead of the just massive dysfunction we see today. So people, planet, presence, profit. That's your framework for conscious business.
Starting point is 00:32:28 The addition of presence to the classic people planet profit model is interesting. What does presence mean in a business context? And why is it the piece most companies are missing right now? Yeah, presence is, especially in this context, because you could, there are different contexts. But this context, first of all, if you go to conscious business declaration.org, you'll see the whole, yeah, the whole model. There are four of us. It created it about 10 years ago. And it just talks about how business can contribute to the kind of prosperity we're talking about.
Starting point is 00:33:02 So what presence is is just understanding, again, this latest science. that's affirming what mystics have shared down through the ages, that there's actually no separation between creator and create it. No separation between creator and created. So that means we all are actually our own unique individual expressions of creator is what that means. Let me just say a little more about that before I go further into presence in a business context. While that might sound new and even radical, there was a guy named Brock Spinoza who back in the 17th century,
Starting point is 00:33:36 He was a philosopher, and he was one of the many down through time that actually created a whole body of work around this. Oh, my God, it's true. You know, wow, we are all, nature is a perfect expression of the universe. Or another way of saying it in spiritual terms, creator and created are one and the same. Created are just expressions of the one, each of us in our own unique way. Musk now, if you go to his ex, I'm not on social media a lot, but recently I was on X and Musk was talking about Spinoza. He says, I believe in Spinoza. I think he's right. We're actually
Starting point is 00:34:13 all expressions of the one. Einstein, back in his day, you were bringing him in earlier, people would say, Albert, do you believe in God? And he said, well, as a matter of fact, they do. I believe in the God of Spinoza. So you have some contemporary people today, big people in prior years that have said this is true. We're actually all expressions of the one. There's no separation. Okay. Now, coming back to business. So what this is saying is business is recognizing that all of life is just an expression of universe or creator take your choice. Either way, as if you went to the, I'll go back to that must discussion on X, people that were following and were saying, wow. Now, if this is true, wouldn't this create a more moral and ethical world? I mean,
Starting point is 00:34:58 if we thought we were like there was no stuff, we were all expressions, you know, of a perfect universe of the divine, wouldn't wouldn't the world be more moral and ethical? Well, of course, the answer is yes. Of course. So, and that was interesting watching that whole discussion, I was fascinated by it. Okay, so what we're bringing in here in the conscious business declaration is there's just the simple acknowledgement that that's so. So all of us and the earth itself and We're all, nature itself is an expression of the universe, of creator. There's no separation. That brings in, I already want moral, ethical, you know, more sacred, right?
Starting point is 00:35:37 You're going to treat employees a little different, right? Vendors a little different. Customers are a little different. Resources that you pull from the earth a little different. It's going to really impact the way you start and run that business, isn't it? Do you think this connection is at the heart of? our suffering, causing all the discourse, how we treat each other, causing the discomfort people might feel. Is disconnection at the heart of a lot of these things?
Starting point is 00:36:07 You put your finger on it. It absolutely is. We call it the Galileo moment in the humanities team. Why do we call it the Galileo moment? Okay, we call it the Galileo moment because I'm going to come right back to what you just said. And you'll remember Galileo, this guy with telescopes, right? and he was there over in Europe and Italy and designed his telescope and looked up at the heavens. And he said, holy smoke, you know, they had postulized from a century earlier, but they hadn't proved it with telescopes. The Earth says, wow, the Earth is not the center of the universe. That was canon.
Starting point is 00:36:43 Boy, that was a dangerous thing to say on that day. You know, the church was not happy with Galileo. I laughed. But he was put under house arrest. He almost killed them. The only reason they didn't, this was the church. I mean, hard to believe, right? But because he recanted.
Starting point is 00:37:01 And he said, okay, I was only kidding. You know, it's really big center. But other people had telescopes, and they were looking up in the sky. And they were saying, no way to say, not a, ah, ah, not so fast. You know, the Earth is not the center of the universe. We're in a solar system. The solar system appears to be off on the edge somewhere of the universe, right? All of that.
Starting point is 00:37:21 So you had one man, a Galileo, that changed the whole way that we live on the planet. Satellites and space and everything we're doing now would not exist the way it does if we had continued to think the Earth was the center of the universe. It changed everything in terms of how modern technology as we get out to terrestrial objects and things, bringing in what you said. What's the center of personal challenge and collective challenges? Is there a causal factor maybe? Is there any chance there's a first domino where something fell and then all the dominoes started
Starting point is 00:37:56 falling behind it that were causing challenging for people in the planet? Well, as it turns out, there is. But there's no one man. There's no, you know, we don't have Galileo around. You know, Galileo, hey, come on, clear this up for us. You know, we got a mess here. It's not a one-man thing anymore. You know, back in that day, it was. And Galileo paid a price because he was under house arrest. He had a very challenging life, but he, uh, look what he did for all of us. Today, it, uh, it really, when I talk about turning point and tipping point, it's really all of us. There's no one or 10 or 100 or a thousand that are going to put their hand up and change things. Musk on X is saying, you know, he, I mean, he's the richest guy in the
Starting point is 00:38:42 world and he's saying, I think it's true. You know, I just read this. In fact, you can Google him and say, what are his spiritual beliefs? And you'll say he believes and what Spinoza has said. Well, Spados has said this, right? So that doesn't, there's no person that's going to walk us out of this. We're going to walk ourselves out of it. That's why it's a Galileo moment. We have to understand that science, start living into it, being our own beautiful expression of the light, you know, of universe.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And then when enough of us do that, has changed the way we're living on the planet. Then we get our tipping point. So that's why Humanities team does the work that it's doing. And when it's done, you know, sense of I'm alone, gone, a sense of anxiety, which is often caused from being alone and gone. Sense of depression, you know, gone. I'm not, there's, you know, I'm part of you, you're part of me, the divine is within these notion, extraction. How are we going to go and continue extraction, you know, where there's connection and responsibility and positive action?
Starting point is 00:39:43 It becomes no more contraction or extraction. It's now going to be all about rejection. generating, you know, and creating, supporting these ecosystems on the earth. And it's turned around completely, right? We could keep going, but I don't want to take too much time. But it truly is the causal factor. You really put your finger on it in that question. And when you're talking about the tipping point, I love that.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Because I think at the heart of what we are also trying to do this podcast, is get as much information around this to humanity. It reminds me of the story of the 100th monkey syndrome or the experiment. Have you heard of that? Of course, yeah. And so do you also believe that's the case in terms of we need to get to a certain number of people to be more connected and feel the oneness? And then that's going to start the domino effect. Yeah, precisely.
Starting point is 00:40:37 That's a good thing to walk in, the 100th monkey thing, where that kind of is a little metaphor for how the whole, tipping point and turning point happens is it just becomes, this gets elevated, it becomes a key, an important way of living that other people become aware of. There's a ripple effect to this, too. I don't want to kind of go down any rabbit holes, but there was a guy named David R. Hawkins, who wrote a book called Power versus Force. A lot of people have heard of that book, Power versus Force. And just to kind of fly at a very high level with it, what it's saying is he had a map of consciousness, he called it. And from zero to 200 is where we're in fear states and anxiety and pride and these things, which are basically hurting humanity, he's saying. And then from 200 to
Starting point is 00:41:26 1,000, where we're now coming into these elevated states of love and peace and blessing in these things, grace, nonviolence, which was Gandhi's, as we come up into these other higher vibration states, it's not only, we've been talking about it in the personal context of, wow, I found it, and my home and my life, a miracle flow, okay, all true. But there's also the ripple effect aspect, which is what Hawkins gets into. And he's saying, and these from 200 to 1,000, boy, you're affecting, you know, people massively. He says, Christ and Buddha, you can see the effect of them. Look at how the whole, you've got 7 billion, 8 billion people on the planet, you know, moved by these guys. They said Gandhi affected a hundred million. I think that's low. I think it's
Starting point is 00:42:14 much higher than that. But then we're talking about mortals like you and me and where we're rising to levels of love and so on. He's saying, you know, the low end of that is 70,000 and the high end is at 10 million. You know, these are big numbers. That ripple effect. So that's part of this hundredth monkey. We're out in the grocery store. You know, we're here on a podcast. We're out. We have, you probably have people you help as we do from this home, you know, doing these things. There's this whole ripple effect thing going on, which is helping to support this 100th monkey, where people are actually feeling, just as you said, they're moving off of beliefs because of their own evidence.
Starting point is 00:42:50 I felt something, I think I'll keep doing it. You know, it felt more. I'll do more, right? That's what's happening here. And for the listeners that have never heard of the 100 monkey syndrome, I don't know what I think is called a syndrome, by the 100 monkey theory, could you just give a quick sparknosed version if someone is like I have no idea what that is yeah so I think as I remember that that's is you've got the first monkey that tries something
Starting point is 00:43:16 you know uses a tool and to break open a coconut shell or something and and it works and it's observed by another and so another one watches and then before you know it there's this starts to spread and then after you get to a certain number of these monkeys where it spreads it becomes the dominant way that they all are using a tool to open the coconut where they hadn't learned that before. So it's just spreading. It's a ripple effect thing from observation, you know, from, and I would even add more in this case as we talk about it, it's not just observation, it's more of a feeling state. You know, I got a feeling here as I did this practice, as I heard this person, as I went through this master class or read this book,
Starting point is 00:43:59 There was something feeling, you know, my gut was telling me, yes, my feeling state seemed to become elevated. I seemed to feel a little better. You know, this is what's coming into play. What do you believe the world needs to hear right now? Well, you know, a lot of people, you could go in a lot of directions with that in terms of, I think there are a lot of people that would have a lot of different answers to that one. So I'm going to have my own very specific response, which you might guess. and that is that, in fact, I know you read our letter to humanity that Neil Donald Walsh and I wrote in this time where we said it doesn't have to, we don't really have to live this way.
Starting point is 00:44:41 You know, you might remember there was a day here a year ago when the whole Charlie Kirk and there was that very same day in Colorado, there were these children, in fact, in Colorado, not too far from the, you know, where there was this gun violence. We don't have to live in a world like this. We don't have to live where we're at war, where there's killing going on. This is going back to this question you asked me a little while ago here in this interview, of this or something that the cause of this, why does this go on? See, if we started living into this science that is affirming the spirituality,
Starting point is 00:45:22 and if we understand also bring in Abin Alexander with the afterlife, you know, proof of happen, So we're bringing in a few things here. If we understand these things in terms of where we go after our life is over and maybe why we're here, what the true invitation of life is where I'm living, you know, is kind of part of a hand, which is part of a body. Well, this is really a completely different way of living. We can't, assassinations can't happen. Gun violence can't happen. You know, we just simply can't do these things any longer. It's a part of ourself that we're taking out.
Starting point is 00:45:56 And more than that, when you bring in, especially Eben Alexander and death experience as we look at what the afterlife is, you know, in terms of light and love and a sense of oneness and these things that he brings in, we came from that place and we'll return to that place. And aren't we maybe being invited to create that? Isn't maybe that why we embodied here in the first? Why would we come from light, return to light, be all the garbage, all the place here? It doesn't make any sense. So that would be my message is that we wake up to some really, really important wisdom. It's not from one or two. It's not even from a single discipline.
Starting point is 00:46:34 It's not just spirituality. It's not just science. It's not just philosophy. Ken Wilbur's philosophy, you know, goes there. It's all of them, you know, intermingled and its lived experience may be most important. It's saying there's just a really much better way here. You know, and why don't we all one at a time start living into it? And I feel as more of us understand the oneness of who we are and how we are connected to each other,
Starting point is 00:46:59 it will almost be metaphorically. For us right now, it does not make sense to cut our own finger. Like no one will just go and chop it off because they're like, no, I understand it's a part of me. But as we understand that we are all connected to each other, it almost won't make sense to engage in war, to be shooting each other to do that. It just won't make sense because we have that understanding. So I just kind of thinking about that as you are saying that it does make, like, yes, it will relieve or release some of those suffering that we are seeing being done on other humans. It absolutely will.
Starting point is 00:47:33 And bringing in Dr. Evan Alexander and others to even sacred text, Bible, et cetera. So here's the beautiful thing. The light always wins. Carry that one around. Don't let that go on your most challenging day when it's like, oh, my gosh. you know, this is really bad. Come back to this one. Remember this one.
Starting point is 00:47:55 It'll help you get through. The light always wins. It will. And it is. That's that new emerging global consciousness. That's what evolution is. It's toward higher order, toward higher consciousness, elevated vibration, more, you know, love and full expression, if you want to use those words. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:48:16 And, boy, there are days where you would say, there is no way. Man, I am not feeling that. You know, I am down in a gutter somewhere and the water's deep and cold and is muddy, you know. And we, those days will come. We actually do better on those days when we're living like what we describe. But we all want to understand, you know, this is where it's going. And so we can be pulled or pushed into that. We're talking about being pulled, you know, where it's so inviting and so resonates so much.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Why would I not? Right. But I think the world is going that way and pain will push. So going on our own start walking, I think the pain will push everybody in that direction anyway. For listeners who want to connect with you, Humanities Team, your book, where can they find you? Yes, thank you. Well, they can find me at Humanities Team.org. That's with a Y, not an I-E-S, so H-U-M-A-N-I-T-E-A-M-D-Rour, we're nonprofit. that they can find me at a new universal dream.com.
Starting point is 00:49:20 That's the book that you shared up. So those would be two good places that they could go. If you Google Humanities Team and Humanity Stream Plus, which is that's the community where we're creating flourishing for the world together and also where you have access to these hundreds of masterclasses and things, then go to Humanities team and you can read about our organization and our free programs. environment that we've created, this kind of a digital sanctuary, you could call it, that's supporting you in today's world.
Starting point is 00:49:52 And if we're going to leave, my accent is kicking in, if there's one key takeaway for the listeners to leave this conversation with and move in that direction of more connectedness, what would that be? Boy, I mean, I would say, and this would be the most important thing I might share, is we are, in our lifetime, you know, what we're talking about right now could be controversial. Some may not see it. I believe in our lifetime, we will all see it. This is going to be out in the open.
Starting point is 00:50:26 It'll become a mainstream thing. And part of the feature of this is there's a source, you know, a consciousness with a capital C, a body, a larger body. We are loved beyond measure is the thing I would want to leave with people. We're a part of a larger body. Call it source. I'd like to call it the divine. or God, my science, friends, universe.
Starting point is 00:50:47 But and even the universe ones say, oh, the universe can't be without you. Man, you better be walking in straight posture. You know, so they're even kind of going there. So know how valuable you are. I loved you are. How supported you are. How guided you are. That is a birthright for everybody.
Starting point is 00:51:06 And so many people I don't think are in touch with that or feel that. If you could let that in, take the umbrella off from a, over your head, let that in. When you go into that stillness, I think you'll feel that too. Let that in because that alone can help you just really perk up and live a different way of life where you really know how loved you are. Steve, thank you so much for sharing your perspective, sharing your vision for the world. Really appreciate your time. Yeah, my privilege and pleasure. Thank you for inviting me. Thank you for listening. Continue strengthening your mind.
