We are mistaking information for intelligence.
Once you heap yourself with too much information, now attention is a serious problem.
Once you have no attention, once you have no ability to hold your attention,
you have lost your ability to access your intelligence also.
You will just churn out the information from memory.
There's a beautiful incident.
You've heard of Andrew Carnegie.
When Andrew Carnegie started his enterprise, in a short span of time,
he became so super successful and made so much money.
At that time, okay, this is not the age of Google or Facebook or Twitter
where in two years they become multi-billionaires and all.
Those days, people had to set up manufacturing this and that
and make money which would take decades or generations.
So this guy made so much money in a short span of time.
People suspected, the U.S. government suspected he's doing some malpractice.
So set up a Senate investigation committee.
So they questioned him in every way possible
and they found nothing wrong with his business.
Then they asked, how do you manage to make so much money?
and be so successful.
So Andrew Carnegie said something very simple.
See, I can keep my mind focused on something
for five minutes at a stretch.
Five minutes.
Can any of you do it?
All the senators,
they thought, what's the problem with five minutes?
And he set up an experiment.
They tried to keep their attention.
They couldn't keep it for a few seconds.
One moment here, one moment there.
This is the fate of most human beings.
So then he said,
you should not be running United States.
Human ability, there's something called as chittah.
There's a different, see, in English language, mind is mind.
Largely you're considering the memory part of your mind as mind.
In the yogic system, there are four main aspects of the mind.
I'll not go into the detail, but the memory part of the mind is of least importance.
It's a chittah, which is connected with the consciousness, which is most important.
if you find a shape for your Chittah, that shape will manifest always.
Because it's empowered by life-making material which for lack of words we're using the word consciousness,
that which is the basis of life.
Once your mind is yoked to that, then what shape your mind takes?
Mind is like a cloud.
You can make it any shape.
You can make it godlike.
You can make it a devil out of it.
you can make a pig out of it,
you can make whatever out of it, you know?
It's a nebulous thing.
So what shape you give to your chitah?
It will always manifest in the world
because it's empowered by life-making energy behind it.
Success will come easy more than anything.
Because success will come easy,
not because of any magic,
simply because you function at your full potential.
Everything in the universe and everything with you.
Whether you can see it with the naked eye or not is unimportant.
The only difference between one thing and another is in density or amplitude of vibration.
That is the only difference.
When you choose certain thoughts, brain cells are affected.
They vibrate and send off electric waves.
When you are concentrating on those thoughts, you increase the amplitude of vibration of those cells and the electric wave.
become much more potent. Do you want your thoughts to be more potent? Develop the will power,
the will, and mental faculty. That gives you the ability to concentrate. I'll give you an analogy
that you're all familiar with. It'll do exactly the same thing. You go outside on a nice sunny day
and you all do this from your little boys and little girls and you take a magnifying glass
and you may have a piece of paper, some leaves, or might even have your hand there. And you take
the sun and you put the magnifying glass between the sun and the object. And you may have a piece of paper,
and you can start a fire with it.
How?
You increase amplitude of vibration.
The rays become much more potent.
They become hotter and like that.
Let's take a candle.
And let's suppose I put a sign away over here on the wall.
We turn out all the lights and I'll light the candle and ask you to read the sign.
You'd say I'm not able to.
And I'd say why.
You'd say there's not enough light.
That would appear to be the correct answer, but it would be wrong.
The reason you're not able to read the sign is because the light is not being directed at the sign.
Now, if I took exactly the same candle power and I confined it in a flashlight and I held the flashlight towards the sign,
you'd be able to read it with these.
See, well, the candles here, some of the light's going on you, some of me all over the place.
But when I confine the same candle power to a flashlight, I'm marshaling that energy and I'm directing it towards a given point.
And it becomes much more powerful and you'll be able to read the sign with these.
Enough light.
misdirected. We got enough power. We misdirected. We think of too many unimportant things.
Our mind's shooting all over the place. The average individual would have more ideas running across
their mind in a matter of a minute than you'd find in the encyclopedia of Britannica, just total
loss of control. Get locked into your idea and stay in that vibration regardless of what's happening.
I've often said you'd have to put a great big bullet right through here to get me to stop doing
what I'm doing. I don't want to do anything else. I mean, in my mind in a long time ago,
this is what I was going to do, and I was going to work at getting better at it.
it every day.
Lock into something.
Find something you love to do and dedicate your life to it.
I see people come into this business because they haven't made it in three weeks.
They say, oh, hell, it won't work.
You know, you mean it won't work.
Anything will work.
The day where you end your day and feel complete because you've finished all your work,
you'll never have that.
And there's always more emails and more things to check, right?
So the demand has pressed us into this crazy world.
realm of multitasking.
And I think that you start shifting, where you place your attention is where you place
your energy.
So if you're shifting your attention all over the board, your energy is scattered.
So then when you start disconnecting from everybody, your boss, your coworker, you know, the
news, your cell phone, your computer, and you start going this way, I think it's into the
present moment.
then if where you place your attention is where you place your energy and you're truly in the present moment,
you've got a lot of energy to execute.
Got a lot of energy to use.
And you want to be able to do that eyes open as well.
You scattered your energy, the less you have to focus on pushing one thing forward.
That's why people's dreams don't happen because...
Too scattered.
There's no...
Look, look, if you keep putting your attention on some future experience that you are imagining with your mind,
your body's going to follow your mind right there because that's where your energy is.
but if you're putting your attention on everything known in your life,
the shower, the coffee maker, you know, the toilet,
and your body's following your mind every day to the known.
But we want your body to follow your mind to the unknown, right?
Enough people get to doing that.
And you could do better in creating things in your life.
We see this.
Wealthy people in our work that have focused on wealth,
some of them living in the backseat of their car,
some of them bankrupt and now have multi-million dollar companies.
What do you think they want to do with that money?
They want to give it away.
Get back.
Let me tell you why.
Not because of any other reason is that they now know that they could create more.
Well, why, if you're abundant, why abundance to me has changed?
Abundance means I have more than I need, like way more than I need.
So if I have way more than I need and I know how to create it, then take it.
I'll create more of it.
So now you're no longer holding on in scarcity.
You're making a difference.
So wealthy people that have created a lot of wealth in this work,
They want to give back.
They want to make a difference.
Without devotion.
I'm specifically using the word devotion
because people think devotion means
going to the temple, church or mosque.
No, without devotion,
either in sport, art, music, spirituality, politics, business,
anything, any or enough life,
has anybody done anything truly significant
without being absolutely devoted to what they're doing?
Have they?
No.
Medioper things you can do.
So do not think of art and aesthetics as a way to earn a living.
Living will happen.
Living will happen.
This is what I am promising people of all professions,
no matter what, especially if you're artists.
If you have a problem with bread, you come to me.
I will make sure you have a roof and a bread.
Only thing I want to see is you are focused on something.
I don't care what.
Nothing came out of your focus.
I don't care.
But I want to see you focused on something.
I can't stand unfocused people.
That's all.
I'm making an open-ended offer.
Anybody who's worrying about bread,
you just come to me.
I'll make sure you eat for the rest of your life
and you have a place to stay.
But I want to see you at least 12 hours a day
focused on something.
Whatever the damn thing is.
I won't ask you what you're focused on.
But I want to see you focused.
