Starting point is 00:00:20 Hello and welcome to this traitor's reaction episode of The Resters Entertainment. I'm Marina hi. And I'm Richard Osman. Hi Marina. Hello Richard. That was a great episode. Episode six, a great episode. Had it all, had great traitors, had twists and turns and had one of the all-time great cliffhangers as well, all of which we'll be talking about. They certainly delivered on the cliffhanger.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Yeah. And a few more people whose heads are above the parapet who weren't before. Yes. Kenny came to breakfast. Everyone came to breakfast. I mean, holy moly. Yeah, he was good. We got ourselves a traitor there.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Yeah, we really have. I love James just looking at him. Just thinking, oh, sorry, this is how you do that, is it? Yeah, yeah. He was as expected. And then there was a sort of montage of everyone's crazy theories. And James Acaster doing things like suggesting Michael, Romish suggesting James Bunt.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Leanne is really lasered in on Ross. Yeah. Bash v. Joanne, because she went for him. Joanne's a bad one. It is a bad one. It is a bad one. I mean, part of me was thinking, actually, we always talk on these shows about, like,
Starting point is 00:01:25 what they keep out of the edit. I wonder whether people are sick. You can't sort of not heart back to Alan Carr and think, is she just so chaotic and it's all just a sort of, this is a brilliant disguise, or is it just Joanne? The Restors Entertainment is presented by Octopus Energy, whose generation business backs, builds,
Starting point is 00:01:45 and manages renewable energy projects. On screen, though, the practicalities of sourcing power are slightly more negotiable. Certainly in script. I mean, my favourite energy source story, back to the future, of course they're supposed to have plutonium. They don't have plutonium. So they were light. Back in when they go back in time.
Starting point is 00:02:01 When they go back, yeah. So they need to get 1.21 gigawatts. Which they get from the lightning strike, which they know is going to happen at 10.04. Very very clever. Monsters Inc. Now, you know where the power source is monsters ink. Everything in Monstropolis is powered by children's screams, which is why they need to sort of harvest them.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Yeah, may not work in real life. On screen, keeping the lights on does seem to require an unnecessary amount of drama. Now, Octopus Energy Generation has rather less need for a screenwriter. It backs, builds and manages renewable energy projects with 5.7 gigawatts of capacity across its portfolio. Enough to power all the homes and businesses are Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester combined. A slightly more conventional approach to generating power. It's tricky for them at the moment because
Starting point is 00:02:47 Richard E. Grant really threw this whole show off. It's just about getting back on its feet now, I think. But they have been shown who the traitors are very easily. Hannah was clearly a traitor for lots of reasons. Richard obviously was clearly a traitor. We'll talk about who they got rid of. But between Joe and Joanne, both of them seemed to be giving them obvious reasons why they were traitors, which normally in gameplay, you go, that means they're not. But actually so far in this show, it has been the case. The obvious answer has been the answer. And so why not go for it? is ruining it for many, many future editions of this format. The one where they told you what was happening. The one where was obviously the traces were. Joe's Gambit, as with every big swing on this show, it baffirred. He knew it too as well. As soon as he was...
Starting point is 00:03:31 Immediately. It's so weird. If someone like that who is very clever, very clever, very calm actually throughout, compared to many of the other contestants, and is still capable of just having a sort of brain melt like that. that it does show you what can happen in the car. You do go insane in the castle. Yeah, I set my own trap, he said.
Starting point is 00:03:52 But again, it's comedians do a lot of improv in their sets. They do a lot of stuff where they're going, do you know what? I need to sort of heighten the mood somehow. I go, I know what I'll do. I'll tell them to recruit me. Just to kind of get the atmosphere going. And if you were on a tour, you'd just say, yeah, that didn't work the next night and not do it again. And you wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:04:11 But unfortunately, there were suspicions all over the place. Yeah, poor Joe. is now so anxious. Oh my God, he's great. He reminds me, I was thinking about this before. I was talking to a producer and I was saying that, you know, in Stalingrad, both the opposing generals developed nervous twitches. One got a really bad I twitch and the other just continually scratched the top off his hands.
Starting point is 00:04:32 I mean, that was Stalingrad, not, you know, ten days in a... Similar, though. Yeah, I mean, there were similarities. I know Anthony Beaver is writing a book about this series of Sempty Taters. One for the rest of history fans there. Yeah. But, yes. I think there is a level of anxiety and paranoia now that is...
Starting point is 00:04:50 Well, isn't it interesting that Ross and James Blunt seem to be the most anxious at the moment? Both, you would think... Yeah. Tough guys have a tough guy persona. I've seen everything, have done everything, have been in every sort of difficult, tricky situation. And they both find themselves, I think, in just slightly crumbling under the pressure of the thing, which they would be the last two you would expect. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I don't think that Ross Kent would be the last. last one I expect because I think there's always a brittleness there and that's part of actually white people love him yeah but I think so um James Blunt now fully identifies as a singer I'm not a detective I don't even think I'm a former army officer he didn't say that but it's like I'm literally just a singer that you can see behind the eyes he's going perhaps I wasn't even in the army because it fit all the evidence is pointed to the fact I was never in the army yeah it really feels like I've thrown away quite a big career the army career not the singing career which I think is safe.
Starting point is 00:05:47 But can we talk about Ross and Leanne a tiny bit? Yes. Because Leanne, like a voice in the wilderness. Yeah. It's still doggedly pursuing this thing, which is obviously not true. Yeah. In any way whatsoever. And she's saying it's just, you're just around a lot, Ross.
Starting point is 00:06:02 You think, yeah, we sort of everyone has commented about that and given their view as to why that is. And then she said, the thing about me is I'm underestimated. Yeah. And I just, I'm not picking on her at all other than to say you get to a point in life where you realize you are probably just estimated. Don't you think? I was so thinking that when I was watching it. Some people overestimate you.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Some people underestimate you, but by and large, you are estimated. I've been in one of the biggest girl bands in the world. She was saying, I was like, yeah, but I mean,
Starting point is 00:06:30 this is not necessarily the skill set for deciding whether or not Ross Kemp has had the hand on the shoulder. So, for example, I will definitely not underestimate her talent. I would definitely not underestimate her ability with a harmony, with a tune,
Starting point is 00:06:44 with a dance, with entertainment. But yes, I would question her talent in working out that Ross Kemp is so clearly not a traitor. Yeah. Listen, it's a different skill set. It's a very, very different skill set. If it wasn't a different skill set, that place would be full of sugar babes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And the show would be over in, like, in a day and a half. Can we talk about the heads slash questionnaire? Now, in terms of how successful it was, I thought some of the questions were a waste of time. I wasn't really interested in who had their head in the clouds. I was interested in who was considered the father of the roundtable. and that was a hair they set running very successfully. Yes. Should we get onto Michael Sheen now or should we deal with the rest of the challenge?
Starting point is 00:07:21 What do you want to do? Because that to me, that's the really inciting incident of this episode. I can't avoid it any longer. Let's do Michael Shee. I think there's the moment before Michael Sheen became self-aware and the moment after he became not self-aware, but was aware that other people were aware of him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I think he's really, really enjoyed himself in that castle. Yes. Just being calm. He recognises that people respect him that people listen to him, not really pushing anything forward. He's thinking that my game plan here is perfect. And now he's thought, oh, I've become an accidental alpha. Somebody has, you know, I have been noticed.
Starting point is 00:07:57 And Joanne had suggested that Michael and Miranda were the parents in the game. And for then him to be identified as the father of the table on top of that. But my favourite thing about it was, and you can absolutely see it in his eyes, he is torn, utterly torn when he gets the information, because he knows two things at exactly the same time, which is, oh, well, that's rather lovely. That's nice. It's nice to have that sort of respect. And, oh, no, I'm in real trouble.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I'm an actor. I'm going to be flattered. Yes, yes. Oh, my God, I'm an actor. And I've been identified as the father of the round table. Yeah. This is danger. Both of those things happen at exactly the same moment.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Yeah, and remember, they are always in this game more suspicious of actors than anybody, People are so... They lie for a living. Think about it. They're life for a living. As I always say to Ingrid, you know what? You tell the truth for a living, am I right? That's acting.
Starting point is 00:08:51 That's acting. That's lovely. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to steal that. And, okay, so... And he's also working on what he calls our two big theories. Again, don't say it. Don't say out aloud because your two theories are useless, which are...
Starting point is 00:09:05 Bella was onto something and something and something happened in the church with Julie and Joe. No, neither of these. Neither of those things are correct. In his defence, he's sort of saying that he doesn't really have anything else to go on that. So he's going, well, I suppose two things are sort of, and also they're looking for an excuse. No one wants to vote for anyone in that place. You can tell how much everyone loves Joe Leicitt. And I've yet to meet anyone in the whole of show business who doesn't love Joe Leicitt.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I mean, he's just a good guy. Yeah. And you can tell they're like, oh, I'm going to have to vote for Joe. And I'm going to have to sit opposite him and I'm going to have to write his name. And by the way, every single person voted for someone whose name began with Jay, apart from Miranda. The only person who's name beginning with Jay who didn't get any votes, James Acosta. But that's an aside.
Starting point is 00:09:50 We're going to come back to the voting. Of course we are. Speaking of someone with the names beginning with Jay, Jerry, she is so camp now that it's like she's Jerry Hall but being played by Julian Anderson. I'm absolutely loving it. It's hysterical. It's like butter drifting off of hot corn. It's like, and she said, you know, Joanne's made a big mistake. Again, she's not wrong about that.
Starting point is 00:10:10 And Bash is now like, is Jerry an icon or a traitor? That age old question. Yeah. After all this chaos and all this celebration about the traitors they've caught, as we said, don't catch traitors. They find themselves in the single worst position they've been in since Joe Leicitt asked Richard E. Grant if he was a traitor. From that moment on, they were in a strong position.
Starting point is 00:10:31 They are now in a weak position because they got rid of a traitor. And that turret looks pretty good now. I can't believe. I'm going to say that the turret looks. like it's finally almost by accident, so I've got something together. Yeah, it's like they bought Elliot Anderson. You think, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Okay, this sort of works. Yeah, Kenny just slipped into that so beautifully, so perfectly and so beautifully. And everything you did after is you think, for kids, any kids at home who want to be professional traitors in the future, I would say, watch this kid. Yeah. You know, just watch what he does. Watch the space he gives himself.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Yeah. You know? He's faultless. He does everything right. Yeah. And thinks, what was the thing? I'm doing earlier, I'll just do that again. But in a slight, yeah, it's very, very good.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Can I just ask you, because I was interested in this, what theories should they have? Yes, that's a very good question. My, Rommis said, look, we have to be honest, whether or not they're wrong, but what is something that you might say, okay, this is something more than I've just got a bad vibe off you or, you know, you try too hard in task or something? Romish is right. Joanne's votes are suspicious. Very suspicious.
Starting point is 00:11:36 You know, she voted for neither Richard or Hannah, even when it was really obvious. and there's something hilarious about her which she was just like, you know, I'm all about female friendship and it was so stupid. You know, there's perfectly good reasons for her doing it. Again, Michael's two big theories are not theories that they should have.
Starting point is 00:11:53 You've got to have a theory. You've got to have something. I think that Jerry's is good, but there should be other things by this stage. We are six episodes into... I think you have to go back and quote Professor Joe Marla and you have to think about the Big Dog Theory you have to think about how it's produced.
Starting point is 00:12:10 You have to think about what that turret looks like. So you know two of the people who are in there. So you know that Hannah was in there. You know Richard was in there. And you have to start thinking, okay, who goes with that? Or certainly you know that there were right at the very beginning. There were probably two traitors. And one of them was Richard.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I'm amazed that they haven't understood what a big deal in general, Maya Jama is. And that she actually, whether or not they realize it, is, I clearly think they don't understand what a big kind of cultural deal she is. And therefore she is a big dog, I think. Oh, she's definitively. You know, when you saw the Maya Jama's doing it, you're like, oh, wow. But they might, lots of them might not know that.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Oh, do you think? Yes, I think. Oh, to me, she's like, she's absolutely the queen of the place. And to lots of the, yeah, but I think that many comedians has thrown them a bit. Yeah. But they should think we're probably going to have a comedian in there. Yeah. They've stopped talking about that completely.
Starting point is 00:13:01 I know. And they absolutely should still be talking about it. So here's the theory I would have. I would say, we know at the beginning of the show, I wouldn't say the producers because otherwise they wouldn't keep it in the edit. I would say at the beginning of the show, Richard has chosen as a traitor with one other person. Let's have a little think about what that fit would be. It probably wouldn't be Richard and Michael.
Starting point is 00:13:22 It's going to be a woman. It's almost certainly going to be a woman. It's most likely to be a woman. Yeah. It's most likely to be someone much younger. And probably somebody who has a head on their shoulders. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Not an agent of chaos because you're not going to start the whole show with two agents of chaos. It's not going to happen. And once you start putting those parameters into place, there's actually very few names out there. You know that Hannah was recruited. So you know she wasn't there from the beginning. So you think of, well, who is that? So not Joanne, Agent of Chaos, not Jerry, Agent the Chaos. Sharon, probably not. Sharon and Richard. They're just not going, they're not going to have gone for it. Yeah, I wouldn't have thought so. Who's left? Miranda, yes, possibly. Yeah. Maya. I mean, Leanne does almost certainly not. Give off very, very good faithful vibe.
Starting point is 00:14:09 And there is an authenticity to it that is authentic. But then were I in the castle and I wasn't under threat and I had that theory, I wouldn't necessarily talk about it because why would you at this stage of the game? If I was thinking, because my head would always be, I'd go back to my room and I'd be thinking, okay, what are those clowns that Studio Lambert trying to pull over it on me now? What are they up to? How can I avoid possession of the ball in any way? Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:37 He's got three whole episodes till this game ends. And I'd be thinking, okay, I've got Richard. Who do I put with Richard? Yeah. That's all I'd be thinking. And if I thought Maya, I'd then spend the rest of the game getting as close as I could to Maya. Yes. I'm not threatening Maya.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I mean, that's crazy. You mustn't threaten Maya. And obviously you don't know, but she has now got an incredibly good sidekick. A couple of production notes about the task as I was watching it. Firstly, it would have been very possible to engineer exactly why. happen because they put them in the cars and they knew which cars they were in and they knew who'd voted for who and so they knew for the first two questions for example that most of the people voted for the right answer and they knew for the third question it was mixed so I'm absolutely not
Starting point is 00:15:20 saying that is what they did but if you were for example having a busy day and you needed to get that task over with quickly and you needed not to have a tie break for example it would have been a very very easy way to do that again absolutely not saying that's what they did but that's you just think they would have known because immediately they're going, oh, I voted for so and so I voted for so and so and it was a majority each time. And the last one where obviously they want to give away a shield, it was much more split. Always, always, always with Studio Lambert or with any other production company, they know it's better if you don't engineer in any way whatsoever because weird, unexpected things happen. So I suspect they didn't do that, but just from a production point of view, they could have done it.
Starting point is 00:15:58 One thing I think they did do, knowing the murder they had coming up, they couldn't afford to have a secret shield giveaway. No. So it was, it was. Yes, I see. So they couldn't have half of the people suddenly out of the running. I mean, it would have been okay because Maya would have been in that group anyway. But it's, they had to have a public shield giveaway just so they didn't ruin their rather
Starting point is 00:16:23 fun end of show, which we will get to. Can I say my favorite bit, pretty much the whole episode. Yeah. Was James Blunt and Ross sitting down together. Yeah. And just having a check. I found this very, very moving. It's like two fathers whose kids have started dating
Starting point is 00:16:40 and they're left alone in a room for the first time together and just sort of going, so, yeah, it's, yeah, I don't know, how did you get here, A4? Yeah, no, yes, actually, not terrible, because the B271 is, I just, I found it very moving. There was a lot of Steve and Tony from We Sov murders in that. Yeah, there really was. I find it very moving as well.
Starting point is 00:17:01 They needed each other. Yeah. I thought, I felt. one of those lovely vignettes. There is a, after the break. Because you don't get the sense that either of those two have made sort of like friendships. You know,
Starting point is 00:17:10 you could obviously see that Miranda and Joe Lysit would love each other and blah, blah, and there are other alliances and friendships and people hanging out. There's a male loneliness there. There is a male loneliness with both of them, which I'm sure is not the case outside the castle. No, no, no, no. But definitely inside the castle. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:17:25 It's a classic case of male loneliness. And I sort of liked seeing them talk to each other, but again, they were unable to quite break through. but one of those lovely vignettes is another beautiful vignette later on in the show which we'll talk about after the break
Starting point is 00:17:37 as well as talking about the banishment, the roundtable and as well as talking about that brilliant brilliant day new mon. Right, let's go to a break. This episode is brought to you
Starting point is 00:17:58 by our friends at Lloyd's. Now, let's talk about movie con artists. Who are your absolute favourites? Movies, TV and book my answer is the same and it's Tom Ripley. I was going to say him
Starting point is 00:18:10 it's one of the greatest characters of all time. So from the talented Mr. Ripley books by Patricia Highsmith, there's five of them. So if you like talented Mr. Ripley, you are in luck. He's like one of the worst men in the world, but you absolutely root for him at all times. Now, of course, deception makes for excellent entertainment on screen. In real life, when it's your bank account being targeted, the charm somewhat disappears. Yep, Lloyds have invested £100 million in Dark Horse Anti-Fraud Technology, which combines intelligent monitoring and real-time alerts to keep you safe from fraud.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Click on their app or visit Lloydsbank.com to find out more about how Lloyds protects you from fraud. AI-powered scam checks, voice biometrics and real-time alerts are just some of the ways Lloyds are protecting you. Based on Lloyd's Banking Group data, 2023 to 2025. The Great Game. Strategic struggle between Britain. and Russia. We assess
Starting point is 00:19:21 Prime Minister. With high confidence, it was Russian. Holding the Russians accountable is World War III. They took down a British passenger jet containing 350 people. Man in the Kremlin is playing, Alex. Got to ask yourself,
Starting point is 00:19:36 do you want to play or not? You're the Prime Minister. You've done nothing! We would need to understand the policy context. All the relevant context will be structured as a framework today and disseminated into an operation order, or Fraggo.
Starting point is 00:19:56 A Fraggo that says to kill the president of Russia? Yes. New from Goldhanger. Who is going to be able to pull this off? You're my soldier, are you? Sergeant Tom McDuffie. An audio drama journey like no other.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Men like Duffy, they are our most valuable weapons. Devised as a technically rigorous geopolitical action thriller. We have two times friendly key. Where Britain plays its strongest hand. He's the best. Against its strongest vote.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Available now, wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back, everybody. Again, I've got to reiterate a classic episode. Yeah, a lot going on. Old school great traitors. We do know now that the final is going to be on the 30th of October, so we'll be reacting to that right after. Not me, because I'm doing Beat Luke Littler,
Starting point is 00:21:04 in what they're already calling the Barban High of British television, where it's celebrity traitors, the final last one laughing, and beat Luke Little all on the same night. It's an interesting scheduling choice. But, Russ's entertainment will still be here. Yeah, and I will be here with the wonderful Tim Hinks, who lots of our listeners will know from our Big Brother episodes, who is absolutely terrific and who goes so way back with you, Richard. And he has the same skill set as I do in terms of working out how someone's produced something.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Yeah. Exactly. Okay. Let's get to the round table. Opening Gambit was Kenny, did you get recruited, Joe? I mean... Oh, he's so ice cold. He's so good.
Starting point is 00:21:45 He's so good. If Aaron Sorkin was writing the traitors, that's what he would go. You know what? I'm going to have Kenny go straight and say, did you get recruited? I mean, he aced it. Yeah. That's a hell of a character note. I mean, Joe's defence was pretty good, but he has done an absolutely mad thing.
Starting point is 00:22:00 And having been so instrumental in Richard's mad thing, Yeah. Let's break out Shakespearean, Greek tragedy. There's something about it that's like, oh my gosh, the dramatic irony of saying, I literally just asked him and he told me he was a traitor and then you've gone and done something. Yeah. Just one rung down from that in terms of... But it has exactly the same impact and exactly the same result. Clearly it does get to you being in the castle. Yeah. And it is, again, that thing of ordinarily you have to look away from those things. They're too obvious. But this is a group of faithfuls for whom the obvious has actually been incredibly helpful. You know, Richard and Hannah, they both. sort of new. And so I absolutely don't blame them for thinking, this has to be Joanna or Joe, surely. I mean, they're showing obvious signs because everyone else they've got out has been obvious. They now find themselves in a very unfortunate position, which is they have two people in that turret who are not going to be obvious anytime soon. I mean, James, by the way, is also playing a blinder. But whether he can continue to play a blinder, I'm not sure. But he is genuinely,
Starting point is 00:23:00 my God, that brilliant discussion before the round. but again one of my favourite ever discussed in traitors where Kenny and James I talked about whether Joe got recruited. Yes. And they go, well, that's 50, 50, 50. 50. And James just goes, no way of knowing.
Starting point is 00:23:16 In an empty room, not for the benefit of no one but themselves? Yeah, yeah, I love that. Okay. So, again, Leanne goes for Ross. Ross, oh boy, I mean, Ross is hanging by a thread now. He's angry at being used by them, is one of the lines. The whole weird sort of chivalry,
Starting point is 00:23:32 let's give the key to the woman thing. You know, I wear my heart on my sleeve. He was leaving it, you know, all out there. But also slightly full of, that was slightly full of holes that through from Ross as well. Completely. Because it's, you know, if she was a traitor.
Starting point is 00:23:46 You cannot be expecting logic from this guy right now. But you can't expect logic from anyone at the moment. But yeah, he is. But it's funny because, again, we're talking about perhaps some of these contestants don't know who Maya Gemma is. Leanne clearly has no idea who Ross Kemp is because she says, you seem to overreact to everything.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Yeah. And he goes, I wear my heart on my sleeve. And you think anyone who knows Ross Kemp, anyone who's watched Ross Kemp react to a football game, is like, oh no, this is quite low-key, Ross Kemp. But you don't get the sense, as I've just mentioned this, but I don't get the sense that he's forming useful alliances
Starting point is 00:24:18 because he cannot let his guard, he's so paranoid. He can't let his guard down enough to make those. And Miranda, who said in the previous episode, oh, he's so unknowable, when they were in the billiard room, She was trying to sort of get to him and saying, you know, which, which Ross Kemp are you? The one on the, and he's like, I'm the one on the documentaries, not Grant Mitchell. Yeah, I know, which is something he's said to like a million people just ask for selfies. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Who said, all right, Grant. And he goes, actually, sorry, most of my career is actually, I'm a documentarian now. James Acaster, again, as you say, he is playing well now. And he said, I'm looking at all the chaotic characters. This is not a bad play from him. It will add more chaos. Yeah. Now, Joanne, again, is started, Joan's points are very good.
Starting point is 00:25:00 she says, I do not want to be like a sheep just holding the same name. The herd mentality is not useful. My God, they're herding in this. I've never seen herding as much as in this one. Exactly. They all do exactly the same thing. And they say it will be led by the table, which is a line from earlier in the episode. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:19 She is 100% right in saying you keep saying don't herd and then you keep having a go at me for not herding. And what's the response to that charge? You don't have one. I mean, because she's absolutely right. I mean, her scattergun approach is not landing on anything useful, but it's quite useful to have a scattergun approach to remind people that you are allowed to do that. Because actually, every vote pretty much so far has been fairly cut and dried. I've never seen it quite so cut and dried as that.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Yeah, the poor producers trying to get some jeopardy into these roundtables. And that's why I felt like the questions in the mission should have been things like, there should have been a couple more of, you know, who's the weakest person in the game or who's the something that could. they may be thinking we literally can't afford to introduce yet another layer of paranoia to this game. Can we just calm down for a minute? So we can't. But I would have done things that maybe would just kind of cause them to have to react or to different kind of schisms or whatever to develop.
Starting point is 00:26:16 And so that you don't just get these kind of constant what feels like 15 votes for one person. Yeah, exactly. I mean, that can't go on forever, I don't think. But listen, as you say, they're herding. but at some point, people, they've got to break out from that. They've got to start becoming a bit more factional. They're just not being factional at the moment at all. You know, you were saying last time about there's been so few gasp moments.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Yeah. Or, you know, kind of, oh my God, I have absolutely no idea which way this roundtable is going to go. I think pretty much before every roundtable, we've had a fairly good idea of the direction of travel. And certainly by the time the first five or six people voted, you have. And that's quite unusual. And Joe helped them out with a slip-up as well. saying, I mean, I don't, you know, just forgetting to say the one thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:01 If I was a traitor, then they would have to. Which, by the way, he did say. Yeah. I mean, he actually said it. It was very, very round about what he was trying to say. I knew what he was trying to say. It was misunderstood. And then you're like, oh, great, I can't.
Starting point is 00:27:13 There's absolutely nothing you can do there. But yeah, he was doomed because of that, you know. And it's not a crazy way to play the game. You know, it certainly keeps you safe. Yeah. Because you're not having, you know, let somebody else have a thing. theory, you sit behind it. I mean, there are a number of people there doing, I think, what I was saying earlier, which is I am going to keep my theories to myself. I'm going to fall
Starting point is 00:27:33 in line. Slipstream people. Yeah, I'll fall in line. It's getting quite late for them not to have, because they're not discussed. Well, I think you could, I think you could get people to reveal themselves if the votes were more split here because people would be fighting for their corner more. And you could, at the moment, it's just like everyone piles in on the same one person. And as a result, the roundtable isn't a very useful information gathering exercise, which you kind of need it to be at this point. People must, under the pressure of it, stumble into revealing themselves one way or another, or at least saying something that's... The most useful thing you could be doing is when the person reveals themselves as a faithful
Starting point is 00:28:08 traitor to be looking at your fellow players, it's very hard to do that. I think probably, again, you would be called out for not... It's like, oh, Joe's just about to say whether there's a faithful traitor, you won't even looking. You know, you'd be like, yeah, because I, but that, you want to to see the reaction of people. Yeah. That's the hardest thing to fake. That's the only, yes, I agree. And Miranda couldn't vote for Joe because she loved him so much.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And so she voted for Ross. And James Acosta said, come on, Ross, that is funny. That is funny. Nope. He did not find it funny. Ross did not find it funny. Ross is like, honestly, I've had enough of this. He absolutely had it.
Starting point is 00:28:45 Yeah. It was an unusual choice from Miranda. I guess I don't know who else you would vote for. By the way. She finds him unknowable. We know this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I absolutely, she is MVP at a moment by quite some way, right?
Starting point is 00:28:58 Yeah. I mean, I like that when she goes, we must, and again, this is the problem when you're in the castle. She's going, I know that we must not trust our gut. I know that. But then, what if I'm a genius? Yeah, she's very, she has been a brilliant booking. Yeah, yeah. She's done very well on it.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Can I give an absolute shout out, by the way, to the booker, Ross Phillips, who, She's done loads of shows She did the first ever strictly So she books a celebrities But it's not just a booking job You're also there As the kind of liaison between The British
Starting point is 00:29:31 We talked to you yesterday about the production And the talent And you know What hard relationship that was And can be on shows And she's right in the middle of that And I've never heard anyone say a bad word About her either
Starting point is 00:29:42 People absolutely love Rosal And that's a tough job She's got all those people For 10 days All locked up And she's having to sort of go Between here And between there
Starting point is 00:29:50 And between there and Ros is amazing. I'm hoping that she's in the middle of casting the third one at the moment. I don't know if she is. By the way, if Ros Phillips is listening, we were doing a little trader for Restis football and we stumbled across the fact that Michael Richards would be the best ever contestant.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Michael Richards would be an incredible booking, Ros. Please consider for next year. With someone like that, you have to think, would you be a great faithful? Yes. Would you be a great traitor? Yes. Micah Riches.
Starting point is 00:30:16 No shader on the other two except some shade. Oh, they wouldn't want to do it, though. No. Michael, you might be able to persuade. Yes. What a great job on this series, right? Absolutely brilliant. I mean, Ross, Jerry, Miranda, Kenny, who people didn't know, just putting these names out and putting them together.
Starting point is 00:30:32 I think I think I think it's been great. But Miranda, I think, weirdly, might be the best casting of all. And we probably wouldn't have predicted that. No, we know we didn't predict that. She does cry in this. We thought that she might get over-emotional. But she does cry in this, but it's very, I mean, it's... It's really beautiful.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Yeah, it was lovely. I thought it was really good. Talking about how, you know, life is about joy and laughter and friendship. Yeah. The thing about this game is, as I always say, you don't have to talk about your personal life in this game. You're playing this rather high status game and it's all very glam and, you know, aspirational. But she did actually talk about her life and what she's gone through over the past few years. I thought that was quite, you just don't see it.
Starting point is 00:31:10 People don't talk about the outside in that way. It was good and they sort of did it through the banisters as to not kind of interfere on it. Yeah, yeah. And she was talking to James, and James was very, is a very good person to talk to about stuff like that again, because he's got, he's so empathetic. But I thought it was really beautiful. I thought it sounded very, very truthful as well. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:28 And I thought, God, what a lovely thing to watch on television in the middle of an insane game. She's not cynical, but as a byproduct, Richard, it's very, very reinforcing of the idea of her being a faithful. Insaneity so. Yeah, as a by product. Yeah. And I realize there's no, there's not one percentage of me suggesting she did it cynically. No. But it's not unhelpful.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Although the only person she was massively persuading there that she was a faithful was James. Yes. And he already knows. But everyone else knows she cried. If someone's quiet, everyone's like Miranda's crying. You know that everyone, they would have all known it was happening. If it was me, I'd be like, yeah, but I'd traitor.
Starting point is 00:32:03 She's crying because he's a traitor. She'd been friends in the turret. Why are they so close? They're so close so they're together every evening. Oh my God. I would just go in there and throw anything out. I know you would. I have to say that then when they went back to the bar and Dramm was like, right,
Starting point is 00:32:16 I know nothing. and I've made a big mistake and Maya was like it was a little bit passive aggressive you know yeah it was a big mistake hon I thought knowing Joanne's personality I do not I feel that Maya may
Starting point is 00:32:30 the gut Joanne's amazing gut that may actually alight on a correct traitor I think that she might swing around and say okay I would like to find out more about you Maya because she's obviously looking to do something different to the group and she will start saying
Starting point is 00:32:45 we've all heard it and we keep being wrong We're now going to do, I want to choose someone completely different. And that moment, I thought, was handled in a way that just might keep her interest in looking at Maya next. It sort of feels like whoever Joanne goes for, it might not be taken as seriously. It might not, but it will sow some sort of seed. Because some people are going to have to start doing this. Of course. Of course, we look at Michael now.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And Michael, for the first time, Michael is aware that it's, you know, his name is hovering slightly above the peloton where he'd rather it was. He's aware he's in the little breakaway group at the front of the course now. And it would be interesting to see how he handles next week's show. Shall we talk about that amazing... The murder in plain sight. Without any question, the hardest murder in plain sight task. I thought it was easy.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Oh, did you... Okay, can I just forget to remind people what it is? It was sort of called bored to death or border to death. You've got to find that spray, which they do know. where that is. Spray it in one room, whatever room you're going to use. Yorn to make them yawn. Well, you have to make them your mum or another. And then seal it with, am I boring you?
Starting point is 00:33:58 If you think that's easy. Sorry, which part of that is difficult? Well, touching someone's face is what Alan Carr had to do with Paloma. That's easy. Everybody sees that. Everybody sees that. So take me through whether spraying that perfume is difficult. No, that's not difficult. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Take me. I think making someone yawn is difficult. I think we end with our three heroes, our three musketeers in a room, and they have Jerry. By the way, kudos to the producers and editors for this beautiful sequence. Miranda's dancing with Leanne at the same time. If that doesn't win best cinematography, at the Oscar, at the Academy Awards, at the Oscars. At the Oscars. It was so beautifully put together.
Starting point is 00:34:39 So is it hard to make two people who were both over 60 and who have been, out in the fresh air all day doing something quite physically demanding and then it's quite late at night in a warm room. You're saying it's difficult to make either one of those two yorn. Well, it seemed to be, didn't it, Richard? Well, in the edit. Okay, we'll see. Do you think that would be difficult?
Starting point is 00:35:04 I mean, firstly, if you yawn someone else yawns. Poor Maya. I don't necessarily. And I know people say that you, yeah, poor might. Because you're a sociopath. Okay. What's going? Some of my answers, like, not.
Starting point is 00:35:16 Last episode were quite a sociopathic, I acknowledge that. You're not a sociopath, by the way. But you're occasionally sociopath presenting. I'll accept it. What if nobody yawned? Well, I mean, we weren't told at what time it finishes. But it was always, it was like the doomsday clock. It was one minute to midnight the whole time.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Yeah, and there's a sand timer. Yeah. We didn't mention the sand timer. Yeah. You know, in this cutaway. It's not in any of the wide shots. Yeah. Those people have produced this show for a long time.
Starting point is 00:35:48 They're aware of what everyone's, everyone is literally just about to go to bed, right? They are all about to go to bed and they have stumbled upon the two oldest people in the castle. Everyone is yawning. Maya, you're so much, like, and so unconvincingly. Yeah. I think it will be, it will, they will look back on it knowing that someone was murdered in plain sight and actually, from the edit. No, you don't think it was. Not in a million years.
Starting point is 00:36:16 And also saying, oh God, sorry, am I boring you? Is the easiest thing in the world to say. You know, someone yours goes, oh, am I boring you, Jerry? I mean, it's such an easy task, I think. I thought it was by far the hardest. So, okay. Going into a room and spraying a bit of perfume, going to an empty room. I get that.
Starting point is 00:36:34 And spraying perfume is easy. But I think making someone you want is hard. Being a castle for the people who have been in the fresh air all day and are now in a warm castle and are about to go to bed. And then after just having to say, sorry, I'm a boring you. Well, I salute them if they managed to put it up. You're not having to do a Shakespeare soliloquy or something. You're not having to do what Alan had to do or you don't have to sort of readjust someone's clothing or pour somebody a drink.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Touching someone's face is easy. No. No. Oh, I could do that in a heartbeat. Yeah, but I could make someone, but I could make someone yawn an heartbeat and I've done it a lot of times during my career. It's one of my specialities. No, but it's easy to make someone yawn. Well, I will give a.
Starting point is 00:37:14 code is still. Don't take that off them. If they pull this one off, I'm impressed. It is easy to make a really tired person yawn. And that's what you're dealing with there. It's a long day. Yeah. You know, and they do have the two oldest people there.
Starting point is 00:37:28 There's no way they're not yawning. Who do you think will yawn first, Richard? I mean, genuinely, it's an absolute... But it's a shame because I wouldn't want either of them to go because they bring a colour to that castle that one missed when they're gone. But, you know, it happens a lot. People go in this show and someone else. People die, Richard. People die. People die.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Yeah, they do. Can't go on forever. Can't go on forever. But yeah, they were definitely yon. Honestly, I think that's the easiest kidding and playing sight of all time. Right. Well, we disagree on that, but it was incredibly watchable. It was so brilliant. And you just knew, as we were watching this brand new format, which is essentially is last one laughing but for yawns.
Starting point is 00:38:12 So we're watching last one yawning and you're just looking at the time and you're going you're cutting away from this before anyone yawns, aren't you? You are leaving this till next Thursday to show me who yorns. I was absolutely furious.
Starting point is 00:38:28 But I was furious in it at the same time applauding. But also when it has been as kind of tense and there were moments where I thought I wonder if something was cut out at this round table or whatever. James seemed to have a bit of a wobble
Starting point is 00:38:39 James Blunt had a bit of wobble in his voice. But to end it on the most ridiculous, like, who is going to yawn here. Yeah, absolutely brilliant. And with three traitors who are finally worthy of the name, I mean, listen, I know Hannah was worthy of them in, but she was too difficult for her ever to get a purchase on the world. Exactly. But three people who genuinely have no suspicion on them, who are working together as a team, and have a great school set sitting down with two of the iconic players in the game,
Starting point is 00:39:06 and one of them is about to yawn and we've got to wait a week to find out. I mean, that's telly, isn't it? That is television. Yeah, I love it. I love it. Congratulations to everyone involved. Yeah, we will, it's incredibly hard not to, we just see you every day at the moment. I know, it should be on every night this show.
Starting point is 00:39:23 We will. Not our show, the celebrity. Yeah. We will see you next Tuesday. Yeah, we'll see you for a regular episode next Tuesday, but we'll be back in next Thursday as well. To see who yawns first.
