Before we get into today's episode of Daily Brightness, we just want to say a huge thank you to Shaw for helping bring our podcast to life.
Obviously, this is something that we've wanted to do for a while. Teaming up with Goldhanger was an absolute no-brainer for us.
But I think it's more just probably to get our points out there.
I think like before, Rach, it's about bringing Daily Brightness to life.
And I think when we first invented it, if you like, it was all about communicating with each other,
having that safe space to kind of be a little bit vulnerable and just showing our raw authentic selves and I
think for us the podcast is that and that's why I think we're extremely grateful for sure to give
us that opportunity and kind of bringing it to life and allowing us to now you know have it on a
wider spectrum and connecting with the fans again but also some of the things in the women's game
that really need to be better
and the problems and boundaries that we still face.
And I think as players, current players as well,
we can really touch on that
and hopefully bring a little bit of attention.
But ultimately it's just about sharing who we are as people.
And yeah, like I said, we're really, really grateful
that Shora have given us this opportunity
and supported us since day one.
Obviously it's been amazing that Shora have backed us from the start and all the way through this now,
but exciting to have them be alongside us for this exciting summer of football.
And they'll be with us every step of the way.
So we're grateful for them to be alongside us sharing this journey as well.
So thanks again to Shaw and thank you all for tuning in Hi everyone, welcome to the Restless Football
Daily Brightness, this is our
Q&A episode, thank you so much
for sending in your questions, we absolutely
love having this interaction
the last set of questions were amazing and we've got some good ones for you but first Rach talk to us Leeds
getting the job done for you how does it feel obviously buzzing back where we belong in the
Premier League um we just need to stay up in there now because obviously we came straight back down
and need to stay up um but yeah I was delighted it was it was weird because Leeds
played at three um and then you kind of have to wait till the half five game which was Sheffield
United Burnley so it's it's a bit of a bittersweet one because you can't celebrate on the pitch that
you've gone up like Burnley could yeah they all stayed behind and did mad celebrations so I was
there for that but um no buzzing the back in the prem so no celebration for you no i was in training the next day so you know just end of season end of the season celebration exactly
exactly exactly yeah but no obviously delighted they're back in the prem now so going back to
last week's question i think you've thought of your third dinner guest hit us up with that one
i have i've had a lot of time to think about this one uh so my first one was kevin hart
absolute ledge you know how much I love him.
My second one was you, of course,
not doing a party if you're not there.
And my third one was Will Ferrell.
You know how much I love Step Brothers
and all the movies that he's in.
I think everyone would bounce off each other.
It'd be just hilarious.
I think that'd be such a fun table.
It would be.
Can we make that happen, please?
Yeah, please. Shout out, Kevin. Shout out, Will be. Can we make that happen, please?
Yeah, please.
Shout out Kevin.
Shout out Will.
Come on.
Make it happen.
Make that happen, for sure.
Right, let's go back into the Q&A for this week then.
So we've got a great, great question to start us off from the legend herself, Carly Telford.
Is it true that Millie has a scar on her bum?
And if so, how did it happen oh god I wish I
could say this is what they want I wish I could say this was from my um my youth however it was
not from my youth so we had one Christmas this was when CT was still playing so yeah a few years ago
I was a little bit younger and every Christmas we used
to do Winter Wonderland oh one of my Christmas markets I absolutely love Winter Wonderland's
sick so good and me being me you know what I'm like silly old me we were in the tube station
and I thought I just had a I just it just popped into my head and I was like, how sick would it be if I just flew down that side of my bum?
Like if I just slid down that,
where everyone's going down the escalators,
I was like, what if I just slid down there?
That'd be so sick.
Like I could race everyone, I'd win.
So I did that and then at the bottom,
I didn't know there was like a little gold stump.
When I tell you my ass went over that stump at some pace.
I remember when you told me this story,
because you did tell me straight away,
but I just remember seeing it on your bum
and I was like, what's that?
I was like, I've never seen that scar before.
It's just such a you thing to do,
like so impulsive to just go, I'm doing it.
I literally got to the bottom when I hit this little stump. It just chucked me off the escalators i flew off like a rag doll and then i
was like oh oh my bum it's a bit sore and obviously we were at winter wonderland we're having a good
time you don't feel as much when i tell you the next day when i woke up my arse was black and blue
i couldn't sit on the toilet. I couldn't do anything.
I was like, oh, my bum hurts.
So I do have a scar on my bum.
That's never going away, by the way.
It's never going away.
It's a silly event, but would I do it again?
Yeah, I'd do it tomorrow.
I would.
How long did that hurt for?
Oh, Rach, I couldn't sit on the toilet for a good week.
A good week.
I was in so much pain i was like oh my god luckily
it was a christmas break so i didn't have to train but i was gonna say about you going into
going into the physios have been like can you show me a quick look at my bum yeah i had honestly my
cut was like my cut was like that on my bum and then like the next day it like egged out so i
looked like i'd had like an implant in my bum i said no i promise i promise
my jeans not really coming out of the bbl
you heard it here first right anyway less of me exposing my silly little self let's move on
to john in nottingham seeing as though i've been outed and you've already been outed on the last
one i outed you for your yOLO tattoo on the first episode,
but we need the full story.
Everyone needs to know what happened, how did you get it,
why did you get it?
Well, I'll tell you the story of what I can remember
because I was heavily under the influence.
Seems to be a running common denominator.
Yeah, I mean, all the best stories happen then, don't they?
So I was playing in la in the summer so i was at uni in new york at the time yeah and i played in a summer team
in la and some of the girls were like right let's go to this place called lake havasu
so all the american listeners will probably know where that is and it's like a bit of a party lake
so i was like perfect had a weekend off went and got on this boat and just had a great time from what I can remember and I had a
hat on which I'll find a picture and I will expose myself with this hat and it was neon yellow with
massive black yolo across the front there's a picture of me in the back of a car like dead asleep with a bikini on and this hat
don't remember that picture getting taken but yeah basically I must have gone YOLO like YOLO
must have been like my saying then because that was on my hat and I don't remember anything else
right I woke up the next morning and I was like what's that I'm like feeling around my bum and there's like cling film
on my bum and I thought no surely I've not had a tattoo and not not remembered it so I've woke up
I've stood up I've looked at the mirror and I've pulled this I thought oh maybe it was just some
cling film in the bed or something I don't know pulled it off and I was like, oh my God, that's real.
And I was like scratching it. I'm like, get off. Someone's taking a piss here and just
drawn on a bun.
Sat there with your toothbrush rubbing it off.
So I've tried to look in the mirror. I can't get a good look at it. So I've asked my friends.
I literally went into the room next door. I was like, what have like what have i done they're like oh yeah you got a tattoo last
night i was like what so i took a picture of it i had a look at it not only does it say yolo
but you've seen the font it's like i must have gone in and said give me the worst give me the
shittiest tattoo you've got saying yolo and the the shittiest font. No, I think you did it in the same font as the hat.
Just like...
Bubble writing.
It's like them bubble writing you used to draw when you doodle as a kid.
Like Millie.
Or you used to do the S like that.
Yeah, I did that the other day.
I did that the other day.
I was thinking, there's a notepad here.
And I was like listening to something.
I started doing it.
I was like going to your doodles that you do as a kid.
But that's the story.
Don't remember it. Why are we the same person? Honestly. doing it I was like going to your doodles that you do as a kid but yeah that's the story don't
remember it but why are we the same person honestly we're literally the same also what did
your mum say because I know my mum went ballistic at me well I hid it from her for a long time
because obviously it's fine to hide yeah easy place to cover up and then I just thought I'll
just tell you this story I think just that just at that point she just got over the fact that I was getting tattoos and just being a bit of a knob I love it I love it I love it
right good questions while we're talking about American stories Rach we have got another question
on the topic from Mallory McCormick um hello Mall Mallory. She started with hi, guys, so I'm just going to address that.
Hi, Mallory.
She's a huge fan of both, and she's asked,
she's actually from Houston, and she said,
when you played in the NWSL, she wants to know your favourite restaurants,
coffee shops, places to go in H-Town.
Oh, good question.
There's quite a lot of places that I loved in Houston.
I mean, I spent six now, seven years there,
so it was a big part of my life.
I would say my favorite coffee shop was probably Tootsweet,
which was by the stadium.
So we used to go there quite a lot for like brunch and coffees
and stuff like that.
It's just a nice vibe in there.
So that's my coffee shop.
Food is a toughie because the food there is insane.
Yeah, because obviously it's like
quite close to Mexico so there's a lot of really good Mexican spots um one thing I love about
Houston is how diverse it was like you just meet so many cool different people but they had this
one place called Torchy's Tacos you would love it Mil honestly it's elite so I'd say Torchy's
if I'm being a bit naughty
and healthy
I would say
a place called
Local Foods
but I could list off
so many
there's so many places there
like I'd love to take you there
just to have the food
because it's insane
yeah
let's have a trip
we'll put that on the list
DB on top
get that on there
yeah
you'd be sweating there though
bestie
yeah
not good with the heat
am I
you would die in the heat there
I'd have to have a towel
constantly just having
amazing story there Rach but we are going to go for a little
break guys so we will be back soon

Welcome back to the Rest is Football Daily Brightness. We're going to kick off again
with some more questions. And this one is from Carly Doe. She said, I saw your first podcast
and it was really inspiring. I suffered with mental health problems last year and I wondered
how you two managed to get through a bad day. So I think you kick us off with that one because it's obviously a topic that we've
really really been passionate about so you start that one off yeah well thank you for your question
um I think this is a topic that we absolutely want to get into a lot more um and there will
be loads more on mental health coming in future episodes. But I think for me personally, getting through a tough moment or a bad day,
I think something that we do together, Rach, is we journal.
Keeping a journal is a way for me to vent.
And journaling is something that I've done for a long time,
but it's also something me and Rach do through tournaments.
Just a way of coping with pressure, coping with opinions,
which in sport you get a lot of, and sometimes just writing stuff down, not all bad, it's good
things as well, it's memories, and I still do that now. There's a saying in life where your
bucket gets too full, you need to let a little out, so if I feel like things are getting a little
bit much, then I'll journal, I'll write things down, I get it off my chest.
And that way, if you're not comfortable talking to someone,
you're not interfering or it's just you and yourself and your thoughts.
So I journal, taking my dogs out, which I know Rach does as well.
That's a massive part of me, just feeling free.
And I've got certain spots that I like to go to where it's just me,
myself and my thoughts and my three little terrors running around like to go to where it's just me, myself and my thoughts
and my three little terrors running around,
not listening to me as always.
But I think they're my main things
and honestly, routine is a big thing for me.
Having a routine every day
and keeping myself in the right mindset,
whether it, I don't know,
when I get stressed, I like to clean.
I like to, if people see me cleaning,
then I've probably got a million things going off in my head
and I need to slow down a little bit.
So, yeah, they'd be the things that I do on a regular basis
and always checking in with friends and family.
But, yeah, I think me personally, I like to deal with stuff on my own,
which I'm trying to get better at letting people help me.
It's just something that I really struggle with.
I like to be in control, which Rach knows better than anyone yeah I think that's it's really important to share what like your coping mechanisms are because I think even just you saying there is
quite inspiring for me because you never talk about stuff like that like openly so I think it's
nice to hear how you do cope and obviously I know that but I think it's nice to hear how you do cope. And obviously I know that, but I think it's probably helpful for everyone else to hear that.
I'll tell you what I've been doing recently.
I've not told you this, Millie,
but gratitude, right?
So like at the end of every day,
I'll talk to Sarah or whatever,
and it's like three things that you're grateful for.
Like I rang my mum the other day out of the blue
and I just went,
tell me three things you're grateful for today.
And she was like, what?
She's like, I love this, but what do you mean like I was like just say three things anything that
you've been grateful for today and it could be the most tiny little thing ever um but I think
it really really helps because you could be having like such a shitty day and you think the whole
world's on your shoulders and you just take a step back and say I'm grateful for and it could be
the traffic like going green when I was in a bit of a rush yeah and say I'm grateful for and it could be the traffic like going green
when I was in a bit of a rush yeah do you know what I mean and like things like that I think
that started to really help me because it just makes you think like okay I've had a really bad
day everything's gone wrong but actually here's three things that I am grateful for today maybe
we could start to add that into our end of our podcasts yeah let's start today we'll do that at
the end I think with that as well it makes you realize that sometimes you feel your problems a lot bigger than in your head like I
maximize everything I'm like oh my god it's the end of the world like this is horrendous and then
by actually doing that it just brings you back down as like oh there's so much good in life that
do you know what I mean like worry less a little Yeah, 100%. I think that would help. Okay, we're starting that today. Right, moving on. Danny Drakeford. Oh, we've got a would you rather.
We like these. Oh yes, come on. So he said, I have a would you rather that is pretty stupid.
No would you rather is ever stupid, Danny. Don't be silly. But here it goes. Would you rather
receive a swirly, a wet willy or a wedgie what's a swirly right i think
we need to explain a swirly or from what i take is head down the toilet oh get in god no don't
get in get in there girl wet willy you know what a wet willy is you lick your finger you stick it
in someone's ear wet willy or a wedgie which you know panties up the backside
give them a tug
I'd have a wedgie
for sure
because I don't like
people's wet fingers
in my ear
gross
and I'd rather not
have my head flushed
down the toilet
to be honest
thank you
it reminds me of
like bullying
in high school
it's horrible
yeah I'd have a wedgie
yeah wedgie
tug away
tug away
I'm going to give you
a wedgie next time
I think
hey up Bill oh god Yeah, wedgie. Tug away. Tug away. I'm going to give you a wedgie next time I see you.
Hey up, Bill.
Oh, God.
That's a good one.
I love would you robbers.
Yeah, keep them coming.
Right, we've got time for one more,
and it's from Tallulah Street.
What a fantastic name.
Yeah.
Makes me want to sing that.
Yeah.
Tallulah.
Which is quite funny because her question is,
any funny initiation stories from anyone you've played with?
Ooh.
And what were your initiation songs?
Right, so for me, yeah, I didn't do an initiation song at Villa. I wrote a poem about every single person in the team.
It was a bit of a roast.
It was a bit of a roast. It was a bit of a roast.
Oh, I'm like, that's nice.
No, no, no.
Some people's were really nice.
Yeah.
But I included staff and they got roasted.
So I didn't actually sing.
Are you allowed to share it at some point?
Potentially.
I think it's still in my notes on my phone.
I'll have to check.
Dig it out for next time.
But I mean, I'm not opposed to singing
clearly I did it in front of
7,000 people
at Trafalgar Square
yes we did
what a five star performance
that was by the way
honestly
and we were still
we weren't even sober
we had glasses on
for a reason
and not another story
about being drunk
I was sweating out
the alcohol
we just won the Euros
of course you're gonna celebrate
I'm not shying away
from that bestie
ever no way no way that was one of my favorite days you know trafalgar square but what
did we sing river deep mountain high yeah baby by celine dion do you remember the other day when you
put the other one on and i was like no no turn it off turn it off this is not the one has to be the
celine dion one uh What was your initiation song?
My initiation song, oh God, that was some years ago.
I can't actually remember what I did.
I think I might have done it with someone,
but if I was to do it again, I would sing Lady Marmalade.
Oh yeah, you are good at that.
Do you remember when you did that on the bus in Australia?
I turned around and I was like, excuse me?
Is that Christina? Is that Christina? I was like, excuse me? Is that Christina?
Is that Christina?
I was like,
who's just hit that high note?
That's a funny story.
We've got so many back of the bus stories.
Me and Rach used to be singing
every single day
to training,
to games.
Wherever we were going,
music was on.
Me and Rach were singing
and everyone would be like this
with their headphones.
Shut up, you two.
Are they at it again?
We're like,
yeah, we're back.
But that would be my song. Funny, isn't song funny i ain't got any funny stories actually about your initiation yeah i
don't think i have really to be honest we don't do them anymore we had a staff member quite this
is quite smart to be fair because it's actually a song and he sang tequila so it was just like
tequila.
That's funny, actually.
That's good.
So he was like, it's a song.
He was like, and I'm singing, but it was just like tequila.
And then that was it.
I'm trying to think of some of those songs that we used to always play on the bus,
but Zell's playlist was brilliant, wasn't it, in the World Cup for the bus.
Shout out to Katie Zellum.
She was our DJ.
Yeah, those were some good songs, weren't they?
What was our little nickname? Meringues. Oh, yeah, the was our DJ. Yeah, those were some good songs, weren't they? What was our little nickname?
Meringues.
Oh yeah, the Meringues.
Why?
I don't know.
I've no... We're sweet and everyone loves us.
I can't remember what it was.
Meringuetangs or something like that.
Meringuetangs, yeah.
I don't know why that was.
We'll find out actually.
But yeah, shout out to Katie Zellum.
Great, great DJ.
Great DJ.
We miss you. All right, so to end this this episode I think we're going to start the gratitude
let's do a couple between us and then I think we can build on from there since it's new for you
yeah my first thing I'm grateful for which people are going to think I'm crazy but my wi-fi working
today I'd agree that my ethernet cable because I've been able to plug into my router to make this episode happen because for those of you listening,
yesterday this podcast was not a go.
My wife, I was playing games with me.
So I'm grateful for that so we can get this episode out today.
That's nice.
I am grateful.
I'm grateful for us and our podcast because it actually does feel like
my therapy session and it's really really
helping. I love that
let's just do one each today
so moving forward we'll do three each
on the next episode
but Millie that was so cute
thanks Rach. What a way to end
my heart hurts. Love you
love you
on that note guys that is all
we have time for today thank you so so much for all your questions
we've absolutely loved answering them please get them in for next time and yeah we'll see you soon
have a great weekend everyone and goodbye from me as well
