Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. We got a lot of wild quarterback stuff around this league that we're going to talk about, including they love Nasty D now.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Oh, excuse me, D nasty up there in Cleveland. We'll get to that in a little bit. But I don't know how many of you guys watched the Rams Broncos game. I imagine tens of millions. I know that tens of millions of you are not listening, but I'm talking about the big you. I like to imagine the whole world can hear me all that one time, right? Tens of millions of you watch that Broncos game. And at the end of the first half, because the Broncos offense looked so bad and it is clear that they are scapegoating this Davis Webb guy as being the problem because Shaw Maiden, Shaw Payton, the great play caller, all of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Da, da, die, now they can't seem to get anything going on offense. And it was 16 nothing at the half. And it looked very clearly to me like the Broncos were about to be one and two in a division with two three, two three and old teams. about that part in a minute. But it looked like they were going to be down two games out of first place and looking wholly and totally offensively inept. Okay? And they managed to come back and win that game.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Now, part of them coming back, well, hold on me, let me, let me pause. Got a head of myself because I want to tell you what happened at halftime. That was where I was starting. So I sent text messages out to, friends of the program that are, they football film people, right? And I was like, hey, man, what's your read on what's wrong with the offense? Okay. Three out of the four people hit me back, and they all had the same answer.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Bow Nicks. Now, I know that there are a lot of people that think I just refuse to move off of my priors with Bo Nix. I believe that all y'all doing is listening to Jim Nance. Okay, now look, look, I'm listening to some other people on this in part too. I'm just telling you,
Starting point is 00:05:13 I watched that motherfucker play for 10 years before he got to the NFL and you're just not going to tell me that none of that mattered. You're not. Ryan, you watched him for 10 years too. Right. You saw this.
Starting point is 00:05:26 You remember when you were at school at LSU and you went to that LSU Auburn game? And Bo Nix was in his junior year. You remember that? Might as well have been. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Yeah. Like, I'm sorry. We're almost the same age. We seat it. But anyway, if you keep Bo Ticks in the pocket, ain't really much he could do. So what Payton have been doing and when things are going better with Webb, is when they figure out how to get him rolling to the right.
Starting point is 00:05:54 You ever hear of college talk about that in the game. It's a high school sort of situation, right? Because you roll to the right, I'm assuming you make it a half, the field for that very reason. Like, you know, it's some people that you would judge for that shit sometimes, right? But anyway, that's, that's, that's the issue they got is him right there. And I feel bad for this Davis Webb.
Starting point is 00:06:17 And here's why. If Davis Webb can't consistently call a game that works for Bo Nix and they go to Sean Payton and Sean Payton can, that is not an indicator that Davis Webb can't call plays. That speaks to Sean. Sean Payton being S-tier at this play calling thing. But anyway, second half, they got things rolling a little better. On top of it, they got a helping hand from three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford through that pick six.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Potential top five quarterback of all time. Don't do that. Don't do that because then the whole show get thrown off and I've been going back to the shit. I've been saying for 15 years. We don't need that right now. We don't need that. Okay? Anyway, future hall of famer Matt Stavard.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Okay, I'm coming to the, I can't do nothing about that part. That's just going to happen, okay? Not future Hall of Famer. Matt Ryan is up here like, oh, so really all we had to do was give three more points, huh? The answer is yes. And, whew. So anyway, Stafford threw that pick six. Broncos got a guy going.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Bonix threw two awful interceptions, but only one of, of them counting. Right? First one, I don't know what was going on. Anyway, the second one. Now, Ryan, I understand that under no circumstances in your Louisiana heart and soul, will you be able to have any level of sympathy for Sean McVeigh being on the wrong side of a past interference call? I forgot Sean Payton was there for that also. That was such an awful past interference. called. It was an incredible interception that my man made on the sideline in the red zone, huge play, bad pass, all of it. And they called pass interference. And the look on Shaw McVeigh's face, right? Just, just, just, I saw it there. I saw it there. I say all that to say.
Starting point is 00:08:24 It was a great game. And talk about two teams that should be coming out of it being like, we got some things to figure out. We got some things to work out. You always talk about point differential. The Broncos 2 and 1 with a point differential of minus 10. Yeah, because they got beat by a gazillion points in the first week of a year. Look, that offense is going to be an issue. I don't, I think, I think this is maybe the best way to put it.
Starting point is 00:08:52 They have a limited quarterback. So to me, even if you figure out like schematically how to get this thing going through the regular season, And it's possible that as a play caller, Webb will improve because he's new to the thing and everything else. Or Sean Payton takes it over or whatever. But it doesn't change the fact that they have a limited quarterback. Now, in the playoffs last year, they got, I guess, kind of lucky. Bonix had that big game against Buffalo and then he didn't play the next round. So we don't know what it would have looked like when he was up against New England, right?
Starting point is 00:09:23 Maybe he would not have seemed to be limited there. I'm not sure. He seems quite limited now. Maybe you think he can figure out how to work around those limitations, but they're trying to win with a limited quarterback. With a limited quarterback and what they hope to be an excellent defense, and they have not looked like an excellent defense so far this year. I think that's a fair point to throw out there.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Okay. With the Rams, they're one and two. My question as to whether or not Australia can ruin their whole season, that's looking like a probably not. Like I think they've gotten to the place they've shaken that off, San Francisco still hasn't lost, though they got to play the bum-ass dolphins and the not as bummy as we thought,
Starting point is 00:10:07 but probably not good Arizona Cardinals. Okay. But for the Rams, they're looking at Miles Garrett for what, probably about six weeks. Something like that, yeah. Okay, that's what we're looking at with him being out.
Starting point is 00:10:20 They're doing this 13 offense that, I don't think you do that as much as they do that unless you're trying to hide a little something. What did they say? they had, was it, four active, like five active tight ends and four active receivers in that gang? That's what happens when you're all pro wide receivers out for an undetermined amount of time. Yeah, and don't worry, he'll be back and you know what's going to happen?
Starting point is 00:10:43 He going to be out again. He got a lot of camps get out in him. You know what I mean? A lot of Jackson dart in them. Talk about that whole situation a little later, too. But I did not feel like you come out of interview with the Broncos and you come out of the if you're the Broncos and you're happy that you won. And it's nights you've been drinking all day.
Starting point is 00:11:02 I don't think you come out of that looking at either team like, oh, man, I think you got to watch out for them. I think we're looking at those teams like, man, there are questions to be asked. I think that's fair to say. They guys do cold water on everybody. And I'm going to take a different approach to the other game of the week that we watch,
Starting point is 00:11:20 which was the Ravens and the Cowboys, simply because I found that game Ryan to be a hoot. Yes. I still, you know, I'm just curious what would happen because they play these games in Rio and they play them in a couple of other places that, I guess my question is, Ryan, what do you think would happen if the NFL played these game in Rio
Starting point is 00:11:49 and there was what I will call a harmless kidnapping? A harmless kidnapping. Right? Like, remember what I had to run last? year while I was reading all those books about people hijacking planes. Yes. And most of the time when the planes got hijacked, nobody got hurt. They just took the plane and took a little detour to Cuba, some money was exchanged, and then boom, everybody went on about their business. It was mostly harmless hijackings. When they were harmful, it was usually harmful to the hijackers themselves.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Yes. But overall, harmless hijackers. I'm just saying, like do cats go down there and they rob, one of the big motherfuckers, right? Come get them, put them in the truck, make a little ransom exchange, and then they back for kickoff. Like, like, it's over 24 hours. Not even that long. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Not even that long, right? Because they're going to get the money up. Right. They're not going to, you know. All I'm saying is, I just don't know. Just keep going to these dangerous places. I always wonder what'll happen if one day,
Starting point is 00:12:54 you know, they're trying to get bit by some ambitious people because you know somebody's thought about it. Of course. Right, because these are places where that's just, that's just what they do. Right. Right. Like the little bread.
Starting point is 00:13:03 All right, man, let's go yoke somebody up. Don't worry, we'll give you back, right? They'd probably be sitting around playing Xbox and shit. Like, not even, they ain't really big deal. They ain't got to send them sad messages. Hello, I am fine. These people are serious. Please give them their money.
Starting point is 00:13:18 No, you ain't even got to do that. They're like, hey, man, just tell you people. Like, we can hang on this like some gentlemen. You know what I'm saying? I think Venmo, you know. Yeah, like, I didn't be curious. Guy come back and play game, you know, playing, you know, after a long night.
Starting point is 00:13:30 It turned that into a hero story. Yeah. he might have had a tough night of sleep, you know. Yeah, they might even lie about it and talk about it like he fought his way out. Yeah. That's one tough, um, bray. All right? I didn't even have to say that.
Starting point is 00:13:43 I'd just been thinking about this all weekend. Ryan could best, I can't attest to it. I was like, whatever happened? What would happen if there was a harmless, a harmless kidnapping? Anyway, I just found that game to be fun. It is easy to come in judgmentally about this game. Obviously, it's easy to come in judgmental of the Cowboys. I felt like it became a little difficult to be judgmental of the Ravens
Starting point is 00:14:05 because this was not the Ravens getting walked down. Like they played in the fourth quarter offensively well. Granted, they were playing against the Make a Wish Foundation. But nonetheless, by the way, right, top to bottom, we thought this was going to be a terrible game because they had the problems with the field and everything else. And none of that came up. That's what got us thinking about the harmless kidnapping.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Anyway, the Ravens led a seven-second, six-second game winning drive. I guess it's seven in total, but they got the ball back with seven seconds, threw the ball over the middle, got the time out, kicked the super long field goal. This immediately after the Cowboys got down to the one-yard line and had a couple chances and did not score a touchdown. You know, sometimes you just lose.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Yeah. I feel like that's what happened. I was watching on the TV before I came in here. Dominique was on TV, and he was doing his John Madden and breaking down. all the things that the Cowboys did wrong on that play that allowed for the catch over the middle, that allowed for the long field goal. And yeah, they did something wrong. The Ravens also got to ass it down there.
Starting point is 00:15:16 It's six seconds to kick the field goal. Aubrey kicked the ball through the upright, so the ball was brought out two to 35, right? So they were starting from Medea. Sometimes you just lose the game. They got all the way down there, but the timeout situation. was such that they needed to make sure that if it wasn't, that they couldn't throw a pass that wasn't incomplete or a touchdown, right? These weren't the other.
Starting point is 00:15:40 I just feel like they lost the game, right? Now, why did they lose the game? Because they defense is to make a wish foundation. Like, this is just what it is. Like, the Cowboys offense is going to be in a terrible situation. Ryan, I imagine you've been in this situation at a job before. I've been in a situation at a job like this before. And it's just no fun.
Starting point is 00:16:02 just no fair. And it's when people look at you and they don't expect nothing else of your coworkers. So it's your fault if it doesn't get done. And if it does get done, we're probably going to go give these other people more credit than they deserve so they can feel good. That's where the Cowboys offense is. You know it's to make a wish foundation over there. Y'all got to score a touchdown every time. So what if it's fair? If we don't, don't win, Dak Prescott, it's because y'all didn't score a touchdown every time. It's you, is C.D. Lamb and George Pickin, shouldn't nobody be able to stop y'all, right? Y'all got that Ferguson dude.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Nobody should be able to stop you. Yeah, but everybody gets stopped. But y'all shouldn't get stopped, right? But it happens. Shouldn't happen right then. Whenever it happened, it should have happened. Which, on paper is true. That's what they're going to have to live with all year long.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Because the Make-A-Wish Foundation is bad enough. that they so generous, but they so generous despite, I mean, not even spite of at this point, largely because they hurt. Like, they don't have, they don't have the bodies to get this done. They simply don't. And so you're going to wind up, like, they're going to be so fun to watch this year, because there's going to be shootouts. It's going to be shootouts in George Pickens eventually is going to get mad.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Yeah, you can live with Pickens getting mad. you just don't need him to forget where he is. Yes. The problems with Pickens are when he just gets like detached. And he forgets where he is. I know I've talked about this many times. But it was that play with distillers where they threw, somebody threw over through him and it was an interception.
Starting point is 00:17:52 And the ball's coming back the other way. Like I want to say a safety came and intercepted. And the ball's coming back the other way. And instead, George Pickens basically a. the corner who had been checking him. Like the game wasn't still going on. Like he's not a wide receiver. Like a whole bunch of things where you're just like,
Starting point is 00:18:10 why would you do that? Like what are you? What is this? We haven't really, what was it? Like late in the year we started getting like inklings. Like a little, little like, like, we started getting excuses for not giving him a long-term contract. Right.
Starting point is 00:18:26 That's what we got. But I also will say this about the Cowboys at the Make a Wish Foundation. broadly, we are hard on the bangles for the fact that they spent all this money on those two wide receivers and they got a defense that just can't get it done as a result. We don't really do that to the Cowboys. And even if they've done it in the course of like putting pickings on the franchise tag, that's still what they've done. Right? That's still what they've done.
Starting point is 00:18:57 So, look, Ryan, you know this. You've been doing this for a while in various places. platforms. The Cowboys generally are good for business. But this version of the Cowboys is what's best for business. What's best for business with the Cowboys, I'm going to just lay this out for everybody. It's what everybody needs to root for. Like, it's pretty excellent for business if the Cowboys were to be like 14 and 3, right? That would be pretty good because then every week you could kind of like bring them up in some form of fashion. It would be at every national TV window.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Yes, yes. But they got to bounce it around a little bit, right? Right. But in my opinion, the best version of the Cowboys is somewhere around 11 and 6, maybe 10 and 7. No, no, no, no, no, hear me out. Hear me out. Here me out. Here be out, right?
Starting point is 00:19:58 11 is 6, 11 is 6, 10 and 7. And the reason is that puts them in a place where they're good enough to beat or compete at the very least against anybody. That means they're going to get some wins that are a bit over their head so that everybody gets super excited about it. But then also you get what's really good for business, a couple of embarrassing losses. And so we have intrigue going into every game. Then they make the playoffs in the wild card round. So then we get to talk about them there. And then if you're lucky, they pull out like a tough win,
Starting point is 00:20:35 and then they go play against somebody in that next round. Now, we know they're not going to get past that next round. We got 30 years, the track record to indicate that's not going to happen. But if they can get to that round and then just do something stupid at the very end, we can step on that dope that whole week, and it'll still hit good as new. Right? That's what we need. So I'm feeling right now we got three.
Starting point is 00:21:01 the one and two cowboys with an excellent offense and a bad defense and a quarterback that we all think is very good, but none of us think is quite good enough. With a nice soft part of the schedule coming up. Oh, who we got? We got at the Texans. Okay. Home game. Road game versus the potentially bakerless bucks.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Oh, and I think he will be bakerless. Okay. Okay. At the Packers. Ooh. And then the, I mean, that's, that could be, and then you play at the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Okay. So they could be four and two going into that game. But they could also go into that game at three and three. And I think the Eagles are going to be the Tyson, Bayesian-Lid bears.
Starting point is 00:21:54 But the Eagles are a little teetery. Oh, oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They do it for us. Way to go with NFL. Appreciate you. Ryan, I just realized I had on my Rio de Janeiro t-shirt while talking about the Rio de Janeiro. I did not do it on purpose, by the way.
Starting point is 00:22:16 I did not think of it. It's just dope. Well, yeah, well, I'm also trying to do a little better about the wrinkles. Like, I admit, the idea of iron in my shirt so I can go from over there to over here. It's just, it's a little tough. Yeah, I understand.
Starting point is 00:22:35 understand. And I didn't realize how strong these wrinkles have been coming through. Man, I did a show with Mori Povich, and I looked down to my sweatshirt during that show, and my shit was embarrassingly rankled. And I said to them, damn, I didn't realize my shirt was rankles. I was like, oh, no, it didn't come up on camera. Man, I looked at that video. It came up on camera. But anyway, last thing, did you see that JJ Watt tell the story that he was at, he was at Big Jeezy in Rio? No, I did not. Yeah, so he was visiting Big Jeasy. And he's standing there. And, you know, I think JJ is more likely to call the Christ the Redeemer because I think he views Big Jeezey differently than I do, which is to say not quite with the sense of humor.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Yes. So he's there. He said he's there. He's looking at Big Jezy. And anybody has been there with Big Jezy. Big Jezeezy is really big, right? And I imagine, like, if that's your jam, it could be really, like, all inspiring. And the story, by the way, is that there was a contest about all around the world who could build the biggest Gizi.
Starting point is 00:23:33 Like in Lisbon, they got a big Jeezie. there too, but it ain't. It's like, it's like, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not really big jeezy. Like, like I'm here. But anyway, big, he's saying, look at that big jeezy. And then next thing you know, he feels somebody walked past him, slap him on the stomach.
Starting point is 00:23:49 And he looks down and it's Stephen A. Smith. And he talks about it like it was some kind of weird out-of-pocket experience. But I disagree. Like, Stephen A absolutely should acknowledge you in that moment, but he didn't want to disturb. you and Stephen A definitely on his cool shit in that moment. Like, it's like a real cool catch.
Starting point is 00:24:12 He just walked past you with the, I think big baby. And then just keep it moving, right? Yes. So anyway, that's not the first time he's done that. No, no, no. People were like, why is Stephen A's been to Brazil?
Starting point is 00:24:22 He was like, because I want to go to Brazil. That's a football game. What are you? What excuse did you possibly need? What's the point of being who I am with I don't get to go to Rio for the light, lightest excuse possible? By the way, no way. what we know about Stephen A. Smith
Starting point is 00:24:38 because he has told us things that many of us wish we did not know. I can't imagine any place Stephen A. Smith would want to be in this world more than Rio. Correct. Anyway. Speaking of Big Jeezy, Josh Allen and Justin Herbert
Starting point is 00:24:55 gets each other. Oh, wow. Jeezy versus Jeezy. Well, you know, we kind of call Josh Jaheim around here. Yes. Justin Herbert don't deserve no nickname. I had associate him with the people. I watched basically all of that. game right i don't know if that if you tuned in on that one um i called that game a nick right
Starting point is 00:25:17 special uh poor game from josh allen and a poor game from justin herbert at the same damn time right now i asked another friend of the program about her because i thought herbert looked bad and that friend of the program told me that nobody's open okay i guess but they look bad the the the the bills turned the ball over five times and the charges turned that into what was it 13 points or 16 points my bad that's all they could get out of that they were they were so ill equipped as the bills consistently were trying to turn that game over and the bills gave you the like they've decided this is the life they're going to live right they're going to live the yolo josh life and the yolo josh life sometimes is going to look like it did in that game also thought the charges in their front the front seven for the chargers was like, oh, shit, we're 0 and 2. And the offense for the charges is like, eh, it's a long season. Don't rush.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Hey, hey, guys, we've got time. We've got time. But they both look bad in that game. In fact, this weekend was so interesting because it is largely about quarterbacks looking not good. Yes. You know, we talked about Stafford and Knicks
Starting point is 00:26:32 in that game, not looking good. But it was interesting. We also had Dak and Lamar, And they did look good in that game. They just happened to be playing against each other. We got Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. But look, let's be honest about this. There's a real, there's a tendency in doing a show like this
Starting point is 00:26:53 or just shows in general in sports. And what you feel like you have to talk about is what is like important. What are the big games, right? you know, those sorts of things. But this was, again, a really weird week because, like, so many people didn't look good. Patrick Mahomes, by the way, he did look good.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Shout out to you, Gino Smith. Granted, you were playing against a very poor defense. Their secondary is so bad. Oh, my God, the line is secondary is so bad. I'm so glad they won that game. But, like, can we get Burns back? Can we get Joseph back? Can we trade for Joey Porter?
Starting point is 00:27:30 Can we, can Dominique play for them? Like, can we, like, can we, like, can we can we get can we get just just just something anything um but like even in a game like mnissota tampa bay collar murray didn't look good in that game um same darnald same darnell yeah and look he had big plays but i was watching that like i don't know guys you might have been able to get this done with drew lock just maybe cj stroud uh uh uh errin rogers however he did look good or better. Is that a more accurate way to put it? I would go with better. Cincinnati got a problem. Joe Burrow gave up to booty at the end where you fumbled the ball.
Starting point is 00:28:13 But Cincinnati is, Cincinnati in Dallas. We talked about this. What's the difference? Yeah, what's the difference? It's going to be like this every game. Oh, okay. But there were two quarterbacks that if you saw anything that had to do with them, guys, number one, things are beard. And number two, I'm generally of the belief that the devil don't need no advocate. Okay? I don't do that. Just throwing stuff out there for the sake of making an argument on the other side. And I don't believe in doing the work of the devil. Okay? However, every now and then something it happens. And after seeing it, if somebody was to pull up on me and say, you know, racism is over, right? I might have a difficult time mounting a sufficient disagreement of that fact, right?
Starting point is 00:29:20 So let's start with James Winston. You know, there was a time where he would have been long gone out to league and diswere. He threw 30 interceptions. seven years ago, he's still here. Not only is he still here, he's still here despite the fact that he is utterly replaceable. You can find a lot of people to do what James Weston does on the football field, right? Like, forget about all the racism being over. I do think that we have to acknowledge that the conversation around black quarterbacks is not the same as it was when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:30:04 In fact, it's not the same as it was when I started doing this job. Like, it's changed. It's a world where, like, Tarad Taylor can make eight figures being a backup quarterback. And it is a world where not only is James Winston still in the league, James Winston, who, you know, he's created some issues for himself, okay? And for other people, which is the real thing. real problem. But he's stuck around and people love him. Love him. Now, why do people love him? I got to be honest with you. There are levels to the discussion that would be much easier for me
Starting point is 00:30:45 if all these white people weren't around. Okay? It's a very important thing I want everybody to know. But at the same time, I want you to hear, they won 12 to 7 against the Titans in the Rain, by the way. I want you guys to hear what this guy said post game. I don't even want to play the pregame introduction. I just want you to hear. Oh, we have it. Oh, we have it. Could you play that?
Starting point is 00:31:10 There was no doubt on the sign line that it was going to happen. You know, obviously we are our brother's keeper winning this game for Jackson, you know, 12 points, six times two, right? It's for you, right? That's 12. And he had some crazy pregame about feeling good about having the opportunity. We're doingers, not speakers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We don't have that one, do we?
Starting point is 00:31:42 We sure do. Play, play, play it, play it. A difficult week is an understatement, but this is your 90th NFL start. You've had a week of prep. How confident are you in carrying this team forward? One thing that I do is for getting those that is behind and reaching forward to What's ahead? Well, we're having beautiful weather today.
Starting point is 00:32:06 How much do you feel that's going to impact the game out here? Man, I'm so grateful that we get to focus on winning one play out of time. The circumstances, conditions, in fact, they don't matter. It's us doing, being doers, not speakers. We're looking forward to seeing you doing it today, and good luck. Thank you. Right. He's fucking with us, right?
Starting point is 00:32:32 Right? Like, he's got to be doing this on purpose. He has to be. It's the thing about the importance of when you're doing a bit like this is he never breaks character. But that's, that's bringing us to the question. Is it a bit? Because he's always kind of been like this. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Is it a bit? I don't, I don't. If I was right. ranking my top 10 moments of my college football life, James Winston going out in the Jersey when he was suspended. When he was in his warmups and Jimbo having to kick him off the field. Oh, man. The look on Jimbo's, I just can't believe it.
Starting point is 00:33:21 And him talking to him afterwards when he's on. But you know what, though, that game gets to the observation, that I think is the only observation about James, okay? because I don't know if you remember this. That game was against Clemson. Yes. And it was a pretty good Clemson team. And Florida State has some white dude named Sean something starting the game.
Starting point is 00:33:44 I can't remember. I may have been McGuire. I can't remember his last name, right? But it was just a backup quarterback. Certainly a good athlete. He got a scholarship to Florida State. But nonetheless, the plan was not for him to play. And this is, as you recall, this is when James got suspended.
Starting point is 00:34:01 for standing up in after all, after the sexual assault allegation the year before, James stood up, surrounded by his fellow students and said, something wildly inappropriate. And I quote, because I know my mom's listening,
Starting point is 00:34:17 he said, and I quote, grab her above the pussy. This is what he said, and they had to suspend him again after the allegations that he had dealt with the year before. And he's getting railed in every corner, right? Media, all the places, all the things, you know. And Florida State wins
Starting point is 00:34:39 that game at the end, because they went every game at the end that year. They went every game, they win that game at the end, and they come to do the interview with the new quarterback, and you know they were, they ready to praise him in that moment. And that man looked at the camera and was just like, I just, I mean, I just got to thank James. And he went on and on about like how helpful James had been. As I recall, like his parents for compliment James like James appears to be
Starting point is 00:35:09 one of the worst kinds of people in the world, which is people you just can't stay mad at. No matter what they do, you just can't stay mad at them. Now, if you want to say the allegation when he was in college, didn't get all the, hey, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:28 But they did suspend him in the league because they said he sat down with the Uber driver and immediately put his hand between her legs sitting in the front seat. Like, he's still with the woman that he was with in high school. She's, after everything I just told you, she's still with him. People just can't stay mad at this guy.
Starting point is 00:35:54 He's not even good. People just can't stay. mad at the sky. What a weird time. Now, I'll tell you who people can't stay mad at. And that's NastyD. People have been mad at NastyD
Starting point is 00:36:12 for five years and change now. It feels like. Deservedly so. Yes. Way to make sure they know. Yes. I mean, there was a pause there and I decided to
Starting point is 00:36:27 adjust. No, no, you made, which you did. did what I love you for. You know what I'm saying? You show, well done. Couldn't leave that chance. Got you. Nancy D. did not play well on Sunday.
Starting point is 00:36:41 No. You remember it wasn't that long ago, and they was like, man, you got to hurry up and bitch him. You can't have him out there for the home opener. And then he played decently in week two, and they won the game. And now he was still the starter, and they came out here and they beat Carolina.
Starting point is 00:36:58 I watched toward the end of that game. Sean Watson owes those people in apology. And he owes those people in apology because he was like, well, if I don't throw for 500 yards, they're going to boo me. Son, you threw for 144 yards on 4.8 yards per attempt. And they were cheering like you just got back from combat. And your children had no idea you would show up to hug them. that place was rocking.
Starting point is 00:37:38 Everything that they've talked about, people have talked about in the past, you know, we were upset that they got to Sean Watson. None of that matters if you're two and one. We're not even talking about making the playoffs. We're not talking about anything else. Simply two and one. And the place was rocking, Ryan, rocking.
Starting point is 00:37:59 They were so excited to have him, so excited. And they play the Steelers next. They play them at home. They play them on Thursday night. There's a good chance the Browns could be three in one, Ryan. Three and one. And then they get the Jets. Four in one.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Hey, bad. Let me be very careful. And I want to be very clear. Ain't no way in hell they're going no four and one. I don't know how they're not going to go four and one. But nobody thinks that, right? And I know that if they do go 4-1, somebody's out here preparing to clip me saying that they're going 4-1.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Well, put your ass on the record right now and say that you think they're going 4-1, right? Put that next to this. If you do it, it's just because you're lying. You don't think that's going to happen. No one thinks the Browns are ever going to be 4-1. No, no, no. But then, bottom line is,
Starting point is 00:38:59 all they want to do is win there. And Deshawn Watson, you threw a touchdown pass late. that's really all they asked for. That's really all it took. That's really all it took. Now, Drake May, I hope you're listening. Okay? Because I know right now it don't feel good.
Starting point is 00:39:19 He has been cheeks. No way around. He's stunk. Okay. And if you just get out here and play okay and decent and win a couple games, they'll clap for you again too. Now, granted, I think their standards in New England are a little bit higher. they're accustomed to a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Especially from the quarterback position? Yeah. Fair. Hey, man. He's, I am intrigued by quarterback arc and development because like, hey, man, if a running back as good as a rookie,
Starting point is 00:40:00 that running back's going to be good until his body stops allowing him to be good. Generally a fair point. You don't really have a lot. lot of like, I feel like wide receivers just one year pop up and then it goes away unless there's a reason.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Quarterbacks are almost like baseball players where baseball players just have these wild up and down. Oh man, he just had a bad year. Yeah, the idea of like an extended slump is almost built into the equation. Yeah, yeah. It doesn't happen anywhere else, right? Except in football, it does happen with quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:40:33 But the other thing that can happen with quarterbacks that is so interesting is the idea that somebody can be, or at the very least put up very good stats. People are telling me that Drake made it not look terrible, even though he didn't look as good as he seemed, he didn't look terrible last year. He looks terrible now. And it's so much a confidence situation where we see this happen with baseball pitchers. All of a sudden, you just can't do this anymore, right?
Starting point is 00:40:54 Guy has some excellent, like an excellent year or two. And then for whatever reason, non-physical, you just can't do it anymore. And I'm not saying it's at a point where Drake made can't do it anymore. but if you have six straight bad games, you're just not good. Like maybe you can become good again and maybe you were good before. But we kind of operate on a premise that like if you've been good, you are good until further notice. And not, he got relegated. Right.
Starting point is 00:41:20 It seems very clear that right now he has been dropped on the relegation tier and now he's got to pick this up. You know what I mean? And if I'm him, I get in front of a microphone and they ask me, well, why it is that you're not playing so well. like, you know, I just, right now, I feel like I need support. And when I needed support the most, he was out with that hussy. Tried to reach him and he was busy. Just throwing it out there. Not calling nobody, no hussy.
Starting point is 00:42:03 I was just saying somebody might say it. That is one thing we don't talk nearly enough about. It's like we talk about them old school movies. maybe I'll call them women hussies and stuff like that. And it seems so funny. But in reality, that was scandalous talk. Yes. That was like, I can't use the words that that's like on this show.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Yeah, it's like calling someone a harlot in a book from the 1800s. Well, yes, but like you can get away with Harlet. Like, all of that sounds kind of classy. Yeah. The words we use for that stuff now cut straight to the point. Like, I feel like Hussey was a demotion from Harlet. Right? And now we just straight at, you can't say that shit on TV.

Starting point is 00:52:16 We got you. Now, if you haven't heard. All right, Bo, if you haven't heard, presented by prize picks, Oregon tags down USC 41 to 27 this weekend. It is getting tough out there for Lincoln Riley, as many people have begun to call for his job, Bo? How do you think the situation results itself? Well, apparently his buyout is roughly the GDP of Nicaragua. It's a gang of money that you have to pay. The number I saw was floating around $70 million. Okay, that was the number that I saw also. They don't have $70 million. Right? Like, they don't have that kind of bread. Now, I don't know how it has to be paid out.
Starting point is 00:53:01 If it's a $70 million lump sum, they're cooked. If it's a $70 million that they can pay out overturned, they're James Franklin, basically. Somebody else will hire Lincoln Riley. It'll happen. But it seems pretty clear to me that it ain't going to work there for him. Now, I want to make two points on this. One, the $70 million buyout, one could argue is the buyout actually doing its job.
Starting point is 00:53:27 Like, as much as all of us think that this whole buyout game is ridiculous, what the buyout should encourage is patience with the coach and the decision that you're going to ride this thing out with him. It's supposed to basically effectively operate as a guarantee. The buyout is not ridiculous. People paying the buyout is ridiculous. Exactly. But they're saying what is ridiculous is keeping this guy that we know is not the guy.
Starting point is 00:53:52 Like something's going to happen with the market with coach money in part because now that you can pay players, which may become if this bill passes, now this gets weird. But in this moment where the issue really is, can you pay the players and bring them in, the idea that the coach is some kind of goddamn magician or spengali that can just, you know, play the flute or whatever you call it and bring the guys in, they're not worth the money like that anymore. We'll get somebody else in here and we'll pay to get the guys. But where they are historically, and this is where to me it's interesting,
Starting point is 00:54:23 USC seems to be one of those jobs where LSU is a job where you can win and get it done with a good coach. Alabama is a place where you can get it done, not consistently, but you can get it done with a good coach. But to make them happy, you got to have a great coach. Alabama's had two great coaches, Saban and Bryant, and they ran all the rest of them off, except for Franchote, who ran before they ran him. Right. A good coach can get it done. You got to have a great one. Miami while they were on top. You could argue. Bush Davis, good coach.
Starting point is 00:55:07 Larry Coker, not even that, right? What we call it, Dennis Erickson, definitely a good coach. Would he be a Hall of Fame coach if he did not coach Miami? You know, good coach can get it done, but you need a great one to make it happen. USC's had two great coaches, McKay and Carroll, John Robinson, a good coach. And look what happened the last three years that John Robinson was there and once Alda McKay was off the program.
Starting point is 00:55:33 Three loss, three loss, three loss. Okay? And that is with players. A good coach can do okay. They need a great one. And Lincoln Riley is a good coach. If you don't believe me, go ask those people at Oklahoma
Starting point is 00:55:50 who were offended by the way he left and hate the fact that he took Caleb Williams, but thought they could get another coach. of that level. And I would also make the argument the fact that he ran away from Oklahoma the way that he did. People don't leave jobs like Oklahoma to go take jobs like USC. That's just not how that works. They were going to the SEC and he was afraid that they would not be able to compete. And so he ran to the PAC 12 where they are no longer because they're now in the Big Ten and it's fair to ask if they can compete, right? That job to me is tricky because to really do it the way people expect, you have to
Starting point is 00:56:28 get all the good players from Southern California. And people have to like you, which people do. People do not like him. People, he seems uninterested and above the people stuff. I keep telling people, part of this job is managing the downtimes, right? And he's poor at that. He's snippy about those things. He's not accountable when it comes to us. He's really, he gets really defensive about
Starting point is 00:56:51 like people filming practices and all sorts of weird stuff. And that that attitude doesn't work at that job. But who got $70 million? Also, shout out to Dan Lannning, who was like, come to Oregon if you want to win, go to USC, if you want to go to a Chris Brown concert. How random. Some recruit must have been like, yeah, man,
Starting point is 00:57:12 he took me to see Chris Brown. And he has never forgotten. And he's still mad about it. I would be too. All right. Let's move to the NBA. Big news for skinny guys out there. Chet Holgrid has bulked up in the offseason from 213 pounds,
Starting point is 00:57:28 to 215 pounds. Bo, you've always been a defender of skinny Chet. What was your thought about this news? Man, I don't know how hard it is, man. That's all I'm saying. He's trying. He's putting in that work, right? That being said, his problem is not that he's too skinny.
Starting point is 00:57:45 His problem is Victor Wimbabba. Like, if it wasn't for Victor, everything with the Chet thing's gone great. They got a championship. He's been like an all-N-BBA defensive player of the year, caliber sort of do, his career is going to end with him in the Hall of Fame. He just, why not? Why not?
Starting point is 00:58:07 All he's got to do is make some combination of five first team, second team, all the BAs, and what if he racks up another championship or two? Like, I think in the end, I'm not saying he's going to end up as like on the top 100 team in the 100th year of the NBA, but I think he'll wind up into Hall of Fame. It's all gone well. he just has this guy that despises him. All right, Bo. A couple of voicemails here.
Starting point is 00:58:36 A lot of good ones. Here's our first. So, Bo, this is Patrick in Northern Virginia. Shout out to Ryan. And also Gabe and Shannon. You and Gabe, Bo, helped get me through COVID. And so many things I wanted to say, but I think I've narrowed it down. So first, my dad thinks he invented the same.
Starting point is 00:58:55 What would Jesus do? He was with the Georgia Tech in the late 70s, early 80s, early 80s. And when those bracelets popped when I was a kid, he was like, man, I came up with that. Also, I was in the military. So names, I don't have a lot of crazy first names. I'm a football official. I did officiator game with a white guy named Anton the other day. But you need some crazy last names in the military.
Starting point is 00:59:19 There's got, the praises when it sticks out to me is pancake. It was legit the guy's last name. I thought it was hilarious. But then the question, I know you're pretty pro-black on everything. But I remember you saying one time something to the effect of, like, you got the D-9 or fraternity sororities or something like educated gangs or something like that. I was just looking for more information on how you came to that conclusion. Anyway, great show. Thanks for everything you do.
Starting point is 00:59:44 Peace. I don't know if I called him educated or gangs. I think I said that I would rather join a gang than to join a fraternity. I've definitely, I'm just saying, I've hung out with frat dudes. I've hung out with gang members. Gang members were a little bit cooler, like after they chilled out a little bit or whatever it is, right?
Starting point is 01:00:06 So I think that's, that was what I said. I want to get back to this thing, though, about, yeah, by the way, yeah, you get jumped in, you know what I'm saying? Like, they do weird shit with their hands. They wear the same colors. They be wearing bandanas and stuff when they feel like it or whatever it is.
Starting point is 01:00:23 I don't understand what you don't understand. Are you an eye older? Anyway, my buddy Morgan he went to a college football game in Canada and it looked like it was against two Quebec Cabecois. Does it keep Quebecois? The home team had three white Xavier's and two Raphael's. The visiting team had two white corners and two Latino quarterback.
Starting point is 01:01:00 the French be throwing it off. You grow up in Louisiana. Ryan, maybe you see this. You grow up in Louisiana. You don't even think of Cedric as a black people's name. I do not. Shout out to a man Cedric Meyer
Starting point is 01:01:16 in New Orleans at the hat shop. I went in there looking for him and they told me, no, I never have caught up when I've been trying to catch up with it for like 15 years. But they told me that he was not as Cedric as I expected,
Starting point is 01:01:29 number one. And number two, that he is surprised of a couple of mothers when he pulled up and they were like, whew. All right. Here's our next one. Hey, Bill. Hey, Ryan.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Tyler from Raleigh. I just listened to your segment about NC State shit and you, of course, got it spot on. I'm a huge state fan. I will never give up that narcotic no matter what. But you did say, oh, it could have been worse. Wait, no, it couldn't have. Yes, it could have. You know.
Starting point is 01:02:06 If Bill Belichick had won in Clemson, that would have just ended us. That would have been worse. But thank God Jabot pulled one out because that would have happened right after that thing that happened in Vanderbilt. I don't know. Anyway, love the show. Thanks, well. So, guys, that's the thing about NC State fans that you may not realize. It's always about Carolina.
Starting point is 01:02:33 even when they're not, it's always about Gary a lot. So think about a little brother. It's always about big brother. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, they hate, I don't know any group of people more dedicated to hating someone else, quite like NC State is, and then this includes Ohio State and Michigan.
Starting point is 01:02:56 Auburn, Alabama. Yes, nobody is as dedicated as these people are to hating, the other side. There was a, I don't know if you said it was a 30 for 30. I think it was called Survive in Advance and it was about the 1983 NC State Championship team. And one of my buddies, I remember he went to a screening of it that they had in Raleigh.
Starting point is 01:03:16 And there was louder applause in that building for beating North Carolina in the ACCC tournament than there was for winning the national championship. Their only national championship, correct? No, no, no, no, they got two. They got two. They got two. Well, one of them, I mean, is the David Thompson, like one of the teams of all the time.
Starting point is 01:03:34 They had an undefeated season in 73, I want to say. And I think they were on like some kind of probation, national championship in 1974. And then the one of the national championship in 1983. Also beat UNC in that also happened. Yes. All right. Here's our last one.
Starting point is 01:03:55 Hey, Bimani. Hey, Ryan. This is Dave from Las Vegas. Long time. First time using that old slogan there. So I had a question for you. You know, when you talked about Jed York getting arrested in the trailer park, you mentioned that he was from Youngstown, Ohio.
Starting point is 01:04:16 But it leads me to wonder, knowing what we know about Youngstown, who do you think you would not really want to have problems with? Someone from Youngstown, Ohio, or someone from Kingston, North Carolina? Keep doing great work. Love listening to y'all. Bye. So the difference to me about that is the person in Youngstown
Starting point is 01:04:45 may have somebody come see me. Kinstant got a DIY attitude what it comes to it. You understand what I'm saying? Like they either they they had to put a love of the game. I also, before we go, because he said Las Vegas,
Starting point is 01:05:01 almost messed up. Ryan, it was New Orleans versus Las Vegas. in football this weekend. And I feel like somebody's granted, like New Orleans versus Las Vegas, the only winner is the devil. But anyway, the Las Vegas Raiders. The only winner was the opposite of the devil, Kirk Cousins. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:19 The Raiders are three, I mean, the Raiders are three and O. And Kurt Cousins is thrown three interstowns, three touchdowns. Three hundred touchdowns just rolled off my tongue. It's done three touchdowns in all of the games. Think of the three and O Raiders are going to play against the, three and no chiefs. My man Logan hit me and is like, hey, how excited should I get about Kurt Cousins? I'm like, what's what are you
Starting point is 01:05:41 talking about how excited are you going to get about Kurt Cousins? And my thought is, this is the little answer itself, I don't need to give them any concrete answer. If they mess around and somehow beat the Chiefs, bruh, bra! However, right, how many wins do the Raiders have to rack up
Starting point is 01:06:00 for you to say, don't trade back Scrosby? Like, how many wins are they going to have to rack up before we talk about this? at the beginning of the show. I guess it'll just be next week. They beat the Chiefs there in the show. Right, but that doesn't mean you'll believe. Like, what will it take?
Starting point is 01:06:16 How many wins do they have to get for somebody to believe they could do this? Like, I remember the year the Falcons went to the Super Bowl in 1998. They were something in two, I want to say, but nobody believed until they beat the 49ers at home. But that was after they were like seven and two or eight and two or something. that we wouldn't fall in for that shit what what they got to do what if they're six and three you believe in it because i'm not right uh nine and two they have the nine and two and they have to beat two of the signature quarterback so mahomes and someone else on their schedule okay so i'm just
Starting point is 01:07:00 going to run through this because oh it's got to get a little dicey they got the chiefs at the patriots which looks like a pick them um home for the bills home for the rams at at the Jets, at the 49ers, row for the Seahawks, I mean, at home for the Seahawks, at the Broncos. I'm just saying this. If they can survive that run of games
Starting point is 01:07:23 at like 500 between them, or maybe 500 overall, then they get the Browns, the Sari Chargers, the Broncos, the sorry Titans, the sorry Cardinals before they, hey, man. That could be 11 and 6.
Starting point is 01:07:38 So how are they going to go 6 and 11? Maybe by choice. Guess we're going to find out. Yes. And I'll tell you this, though, the best thing about this is they will not have to play Fernando Mendoza this year, I don't think, which I, without great evidence, believe is probably the best thing for a quarterback. But hey, ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us here on the right time.
