I'm inclined to believe you are a hater.
It is Foxworth.
Thursday.
Dominique Foxworth, what's going on?
Not much, man.
I'm happy we can get it in before this Thursday night game.
We can talk about that.
That's right.
By the way, for the people who are noticing.
Yeah, your boy don't come back.
We're going to have more Dominique than we had before.
the single best thing to happen to this show in the last year.
Just throw that out there.
We are always glad to have you.
And he's right.
We got a Thursday night game.
See, we used to record these on Thursday with a Thursday night game and then it didn't
come out until Friday, which always made things like a little bit weird.
But now that we've changed the schedule, we lose the alliteration.
But it's early in the season, so the Thursday night games are still intriguing.
It isn't really until like week eight or nine that it's kind of like,
shit, man, I don't even want to watch that.
I realized that I was excited to have the opportunity to talk to you about the Thursday night games.
But as you were talking, it also reminded me that those constraints aren't always good for us.
Sometimes when we feel like we have to stay on some sort of subject, we don't get to the good stuff.
You're right.
We'll get used to the new patterns.
Don't you worry.
We'll talk about Israel, Palestine, before it's all over.
We got time.
There's room for it.
Yeah.
Bob Kraft made football.
You know what I'm saying?
We'll get there.
And I tell you this, that's a mother.
the fucking cliffhanger right there.
There's a bunch of people like,
will this be the day?
Well, my fucks it up forever.
And the answer is, no.
Yeah.
I mean, hopefully it won't be the day that I do it either.
No, no, no, no.
It's a team effort, baby.
Team work makes a dream work.
What thing you know about me, dog?
I ain't going to let you go out like that.
Oh, no.
I trust you.
You looked out for me in the past.
I know you looked out for me in the future.
And, yeah, the decisions that are being made are not going to be made as a result of me
doing anything dumb or my man.
on my man, let me do anything.
Nope, no, not for clicks, not for clicks.
Don't need it that bad.
But we do have America's team, my guys, Detroit Lyon,
tonight against America's quarterback, shall we say,
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
They are opening their new stadium in Buffalo.
I find it a little weird to open the stadium on a Thursday.
I would think that you would want that to be a Sunday.
I don't know if they think that'll make more people
want to watch it on television.
But Dominic, we were talking about,
this before the show, and this will be a theme of this show, which is teams playing for their
seasons, because that's the thing that makes the NFL dope is, it's not crazy to say in week
two that a team is playing for their season. If you go down, oh and two, it's really bad news.
The history has indicated it's almost guaranteed that you're not going to win the Super Bowl.
If you go down, oh and two, you're not going to go. The playoffs, the playoffs would be harder
if they hadn't added that little extra participation team on the end of it. You know what I'm saying?
but like it really matters.
And both teams in this game were this close to this being a titanic clash of two teams
playing for their seasons.
If the Saints get that two point conversion and if the Texans don't drop that
interception, this game is 0 and 1 versus 0.1.
Instead, those other two teams will be playing for their seasons in games that we will
discuss later.
However, I came out of that game like, wow, Josh Allen looked really good
considering they were playing against an awesome defense.
He did the Josh Allen thing of,
I'm going to give you a chance.
I'm going to give you a chance and you just better catch it.
And they didn't catch it.
And then the next play, he threw the touchdown.
I mean, so the stakes,
we talked about last week of like how high the stakes are physically for the players.
And this is also why football is so entertaining.
It's like the drama is always there because right now the stakes for the teams can be incredibly high.
Not for these teams right now because they're both one and oh barely.
But you go to two, three games skin.
things looking quite dark. But yeah, the Josh Allen situation, going back to watch that game,
I saw they were like really successful on first down, which I think is like the secret key to why
the Texans defense is so good is they win first down. Then they put you in a situation where
the monster is going to come eat you alive on past must passing situations. And this team,
they ran the ball surprisingly well. And of course, the Josh Allen experience is going to be the
Josh Allen experience. It's going to be more incredible plays, but there are going to be
some opportunities. Anytime you're that aggressive in the way that he is, he's going to make
some mistakes. But if you don't make him pay, he came right back to next play. And the safety
came down to like double on a tight end and he ripped it. Perfect pass to score a touchdown.
You can't mess around with guys like that. We really would, when I was with the Ravens,
worse than giving up a, like giving up a big play was dropping an interception or missing a sack.
Like those missed opportunities, people would be so mad at you for that
Because you're going to get beat, they're good.
But when you get a chance, you get a chance to turn the tie to the game,
you got to get it done.
Yeah, and it is so much to ask somebody to not drop an interception.
Like conceptually, think about what an interception is,
catching something that wasn't thrown to you.
Right?
Like, you are actually doing a completely different job
until this interception opportunity comes.
And now you are converting to a player of a literal different position to do something that is far more specific.
I always say, what a random way to make a million dollars.
How do you make a million dollars?
Know something at it.
Why?
Watch what I do.
And it's in the split second.
And I know that people make fun of DBs for saying that they don't have hands.
And obviously, receivers can catch better.
But DBs can catch.
If you haven't been to a practice, they can catch.
the reason why is hard is because you look up and you're like, oh, it's like, it's really hard.
And you saw Lasseter turn around in his own, the thing on his chest.
He's just like, that's the hard part about it is to your point switching your mindset in less than a second.
And we're looking at you like, way to go.
Come on.
There was right there.
Yeah.
It feels that way too because it is an easy play.
But you made the point that's the biggest.
one is that it's just a complete turnover in your mind frame and less than any amount of time
that anybody can process anything. And I think the expectations, those are the guys who have
the best hands and the best ball skills. They can catch. They got big hands. They can track the
ball well. But also, they're expecting to catch it. Every time they're out there, they expect it to
catch it. And they ain't much of them like that that are expecting to catch it or can turn over that
quick. Just like, I know this is going to happen. I'm going to grab it. Look, I told you what?
It's the most ridiculous thing about football.
It's not even so hard, how hard people be hitting is that I'm supposed to withstand that hit without dropping that thing I got in my hand.
It's such an absurd thing to ask of somebody.
And I'm going to look at you, funny, if you drop it.
I'll add a level to that absurdity.
Not only are you supposed to catch it and hold on to it while somebody's hitting you, you're supposed to line up and do it again.
I can't go back out there.
Did you ever have you?
And that's the thing that to me, when I stepped away for a little bit,
I got injured, then I came back and I was watching from the sideline.
And that's the thing that jumped out.
I was like, holy shit.
They out there hitting.
Oh, they did it again.
When you on the field, it feels slightly different.
And I know we've talked about this before.
What it feels like to stand on the NFL sideline.
And honestly, what it feels like to stand on any football sideline?
I was at my son's game.
he's, what is he, 13 years old right now.
And every play ain't cracking,
but there's a couple of boys out there that's going to crack.
And if you're standing close enough to the sideline,
you're like, oh, ooh.
And if you play on an NFL side line or a college sideline,
just one time, everybody should get the privilege
and standing next to it and see what's happening.
I stood on a Division II sideline in 2005
and could not believe what I was watching.
A legendary Jones family story was my brother,
I guess he was going towards seventh grade or something like that.
I forget what year, but he was thinking about playing football.
And my mother was on the faculty at Clark College,
which is part of what is now Clark Atlanta University.
And she got them to let them come stand on the sideline and watch the game, right?
So they stood in the sideline, watched the game.
And she said that they was walking back.
And nobody was saying anything about brother, who is not small, right?
My brother stopped, looked at her and said,
you know, I think I'll just be in the band.
That's what I got.
I tell the story, it was 2008.
It was the first time that I had covered a Division I one football guy.
And so it was Carolina against Virginia Tech.
And this has been, T.J. Yates was a quarterback.
He got hurt, I want to say, in the second or third quarter, I can't remember.
Next play they brought in Mike Paulus, Greg Paulus's brother, who was a very big time quarterback recruit.
First play hand the ball to Greg Lilly runs like 40-something yards for a touchdown, right?
Then after that, again, this is Virginia Tech with their vaunted defenses.
And, you know, they turned it up on that boy.
And then I went down on the sideline for the last drive of the game.
And I don't know how anybody is expected to complete a forward pass in a football game
in the time that is actually and truly allotted to you to make that pass.
That swarm that just was around him at every turn.
And I was like, oh, I misunderstood.
But this game, this is cold.
This is nuts.
I'm not somebody who's like, you have to be able to do it to be able to criticize it.
Like, I don't think you have to do that.
I think some people like former players get mad at analysts who are like, you have to criticize
it.
But I do think that you have to have some healthy level of respect.
And like every now and then when you get out over your shoes, and this happens to me, too.
I'm criticizing quarterbacks.
And it's easy because.
you see it and you see what happened.
Somebody open and they don't get it to them
and you know that that's what it's supposed to happen.
And we all see it.
But every now and there, you need to be reminded.
Going down there, just stand in the pocket.
Just see what it feel like for a hot second
to have to decide and deliver a pass in less than two seconds.
Well, it's the only job in football
where you're expected to hold the ball
and do something else, right?
It's not simply you got the ball,
so now you're running to stay safe.
No, right?
Hold the ball, think about some shit,
consider some possibilities
right? Like it's a
all while standing
facing the wrong way on the highway.
I told
Lanay a long time ago
he's a writer. She was writing something and we were
talking about
blackness and I was
saying how blackness is
being two things at once
all the time. It's like you're always
like part of whatever it is
that you're doing. Another part of it is
being black. I assume
that I've never played quarterback at a high level.
I played at high school.
I assume it's the same thing.
When they're trying to kill you
and at the same time you're not just trying to stay alive,
you have to process what's happening down the field
and then deliver an accurate pass
and you wonder why we can't find 32 of them.
Right.
This is fucking hard.
This game has a serious construction issue.
You should not have any position that exist
and there aren't enough people
who are capable of doing it to fill out a league.
just the top line.
There aren't 32 people
who can do it. Now, I want
to stay on this game though because my guys at Detroit
Lyons,
I felt like Buffalo
should have come out of their game optimistic.
I did not feel that way
as a fan of the Detroit Lions.
I did not come out of that game feeling
very good at all. I also didn't feel like
while I was playing it, while I was watching it, that they
played badly necessarily.
But, because
I don't know how it's
going to end up for the Saints and their quarterback is old, but there's something there.
I think it's, I think that there's, there's great cause for optimism, but Detroit should
not be playing home games against the Saints and it comes down to the end like it did there,
playing in the division that they play in, that they finished in last place last year,
and they were not a bad team, but somebody's going to have to finish in last.
And it might be y'all again.
It's hard to, some of these results are hard to draw anything from because,
we're not quite sure if it's because one opponent was good
or one opponent was really bad.
That's why the bill's result feels like something substantive
because it's like, we know the Texans.
Texan defense is good.
If you guys can be in a game with the Texan,
whether you win or lose,
like I feel like you can feel good as a bills fan
at the end of that game.
Like your defense ain't fixed,
but you know that it felt like the change that wanted to be made,
and I'm reading into this a little bit,
but the change that Josh Allen seemingly wanted to be made
was we got to be more.
aggressive on offense.
And turnovers be damned.
If we get them, we get them. Because like in the past,
it felt like with a defensive-minded coach, they wanted to
protect their defense. And it feels like
the reason why Joe Brady got promoted is because
Josh is like, we ain't going to win like that.
No boys ain't going to be able to stop people.
I'm going to give it back every now and then.
But fuck it, I'm going to throw three more than I give
to them. And that's the way they're going to approach.
Well, one, that's late stage, Brett Far.
Yeah. And I think it's important to know.
The rules are different. So, like, guys don't throw as many
interceptions as they used to for a number of reasons or whatever.
But there was a point post-prime Brett Farb and prime bread farb might be the best
quarterback I've ever seen.
But after that, where he had just made that, this is the way we're going to play football,
right?
Like I seen my buddy Nick make this point about Josh Allen and a few other people that
Yolo Ball is probably going to be the best way for them to go about this.
Sean McDermott, who you must remember was the defensive coordinator when Cam Newton
played for the Panthers and he saw Cam Newton as the problem.
Like this is not something I'm making up, right?
Right. Like that was the mentality that he had.
If it's going to be like this for Buffalo, it's going to be fun, right?
It's going to the, your mileage may vary from game to game.
That is correct.
But it's going to be fun.
And with Detroit, they're going to have to figure something like that similar because
they're going to give up a gang of points, a gang of points.
And they have a quarterback who's an incredible point guard, but he and has one of the best
arms in football, but he's not the guy that's like in that Brett Barth,
Josh Allen Moe. And Brett Farb and Josh Allen, I think, are similar in a bunch of ways.
But I have to give credit for Josh Allen, even though some of the passes he throws don't make
sense, you can see that he understands defense. That's the difference with Brett Farb is I'm realizing
is that you think that you have to be super smart to play quarterback. I think the problem is you
can't be in the middle. I think that's the problem. You can't be in the middle because Brett would go
out there and like, all right, I'm throwing it here no matter what. There's going to be no processing.
I'm just going to throw it so hard and so accurately
that it don't matter if you've got it covered or not.
And sometimes you're going to get a hand on.
It's going to be a turnover.
And that's just dumb enough to play the position is almost better than being like in the middle.
If you're really smart and you process fast is great.
If you're not, you're just like, I'm going to rip that shit.
Well, I think, I think, but I think for real, though, the big thing is whatever decision you're going to make,
you just got to do it.
Like that's the importance of that.
So, for example, I wouldn't, I don't think any of us ever would have cheated on Dan Marino's paper.
For example, Damarino had some run, as I recall, of something like 16 straight games without being sacked once.
The only one of those linemen that's in the Hall of Fame is Dwight Stevenson, the center, right?
That was about Damarito.
I see it.
I throw it.
Boom.
This is just whatever decision it is that you're going to make.
Yeah, it reminds me.
It reminds me a shack where it's like, hey, he's special, man.
like it's not going to be the footwork of Hakeem,
but it's going to work, right?
And it's the technique of these guys is,
or at least the execution is different.
It's one of the,
it's those guys that you just don't have to coach in a way
that you think you have to coach every guy out.
It's not a whole like,
if-than equation that you have for other quarterbacks.
Like if this guy comes down, then you do that.
Like the Peyton Manning, I feel like,
is the pinnacle of like the intellectual quarterback.
Yeah.
these Neanderthals, they can make it work too.
And by the way, that would get Peyton Manning in trouble in those playoffs.
Absolutely.
The truth is this, there is room for processors.
There is room for reactors.
Thinkers.
Nah, like, I'm a thinker.
I'm a thinker.
I'd be back there like, hold on, hold on, wait, wait, wait, wait.
It's funny because like when I do this job, I am a reactor, right?
Like in this job, all the moving parts that are going on, whatever it is.
I know it don't seem like much, maybe to the people who are listening, but I got to look people, no, I'm running point at all times.
Especially if I got somebody else on.
I'm figuring out when we're going to bring this in.
When we're going to go to this place, whatever it is.
I'm not thinking.
I'm just going.
Man, if you would get me out there, I'd be back there counting.
Now, hold on one second.
One, two, three, four, five.
Oh, okay, there we go.
There's the mic right there.
Wait, wait, wait.
There he is right there.
Then we get back there.
Okay, hold on.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Slow up guys.
Slow up guys.
give me just one second. Give me just one second. No, no, no, that's not what this is.
It's, oh, that's what I'm going to do and I'm going to do it right now.
Yeah. Go. Yeah, it's a different type of situation. I think that was, I've talked about this a couple
times on other shows, but I think that was my problem at cornerback. I was a good corner,
but I had like the athleticism to be up there with some of the best. But I wasn't there
because I was a thinker. And it was like, all right, I know in this situation, this is what they want
to do, I need to sit on this.
But if I sit on it, and it's not what they did, it's a touchdown.
All right, let's be safe. Let's be safe. Let's tackle it. Let's tackle it. Let's tackle it.
Every now and then, I would play the game in a way that's like, I'm a wait for you to make a mistake.
Rather than I talked to Champ a couple days ago and he was saying how I used to keep everything
in front of me. It's like, God damn right. I live my life that way too. I live my life that way too.
I want to keep it all in front of me, man. I want to keep it all in front of me. I ain't gambling.
I ain't doing none of that.
And that was like, don't break.
I lived my life in a bin but don't break manner.
I couldn't play that way.
I played that way and it got me far enough.
But I think the difference in other guys was not,
with exception of players like chant,
was not that they were more athletic or physically gifted than I was,
but they were comfortable with living with the result.
They had that breath ball in them.
I'm like, fuck it.
You're going to win some, but I'm going to win more.
the Houston Texans are playing against the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow with his annual ailment.
Texans playing for their season.
And I feel like if they're playing for their season by extension, Stroud is playing for his future.
Because he was good in that game except for those two plays where he wasn't.
The interception, they gave it up early, he gave it up late.
Yeah.
And those last two sacks, they suck because like they say sacks is a quarterback stat.
when you got to have a situation, you can't quite get rid of the ball if ain't nobody open.
And I think there's another level of quarterback play that we kind of hinted on with the Brett
Barb thing. But I think I would point to Trevor Lawrence as doing some of this last week, too,
where it's, and I saw Bo Knicks having an inability to do this is sometimes they got it,
they got the right play called, but you got to give your guys a chance and put it in a spot.
And Trevor Lawrence had that one touchdown between four guys where it's like you can't even
see the receiver, but he put it in a spot back.
that it gives people a chance.
And sometimes you have to just put it in a spot
that it's not going to get turned over
and you can't wait for the play to develop
and people to be open.
Yeah, this, this,
Andre Johnson got all of about the body language,
which is a thing.
I don't think that he's wrong.
I do, I don't know if he had to say it already.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
And then Stroud has got a,
Stroud ain't the type to respond well to those sorts of things.
Right?
but it's right.
Like you,
you,
you,
you,
you,
you, you,
you, you,
you got to look like
you got it under control.
It's,
but what if you don't feel like you do?
I know,
that's,
I don't generally advocate lying,
but,
um,
fake it to you make it.
Hey man,
you got to,
you got to do it sometimes.
And look,
this is,
the Bengals,
the Bengals sound a lot like
what we're saying
about Buffalo and Detroit.
They just go out to try to beat people
by scoring a gazillion points.
Yeah,
we'll see.
I mean,
their D-line hasn't
They got a bunch of turnovers in this game, which is not something that you can replicate.
I'm not sure that they really stopped the bucks a ton, but they got the ball back a bunch early
and then shifted the like the game script in a way that was advantageous.
The D-line did look good, but I don't think that they solved their defensive problems.
The problem with them relying on Joe Burrow, and we give Joe Burrow a lot of credit because he won
that championship.
He went to the Super Bowl, of course.
he seems to be a socially conscious guy
when he talks like he comes off as a guy
who's aware of things
and we don't put that Jackson dart on him.
But yeah, he owes ball too long.
And he tried to run through people.
Like he, we don't need,
and that's the thing is I value a quarterback.
Like Baker will do this sometimes
where you run through somebody,
you get up and you get high.
That's a body language thing that I think has value.
Joe, you pass that, Joe.
In the early in that game,
He was running.
I was sitting next to Teddy Bruske and across from Randy Moss watching this game.
And when Joe ran, it was early in the game, first court, he ran and got blown up out of bounds.
And Teddy Bruske, and all three of us looked at each other, Teddy Bruske said, that's his throwing shoulder.
And we ain't say nothing about it.
The rest of the game, nothing happened.
We just kind of like, yeah, he got to be careful.
Lo and behold, today, we start reading the news, they start showing that same damn play.
Joe, they can't do that.
You ain't built for there.
Yeah, what makes him good.
He is, like, one of the things that we try to give Shreddera Sanders credit for is his
willingness to stay in the pocket.
Like, it's a thing, the willingness to do that.
Now, with Sanders in college, it didn't necessarily result in big plays.
But when you want a glass half fullet, you're like, oh, he's patient in the pocket.
That's the thing with Joe Burrow.
He'll stay back there and he'll move and he'll move.
Like, he doesn't stay still, right?
And he makes positive movements in the pocket.
But he will wait and he will wait and he will wait.
and at some point, man,
the big motherfucker's going to come take you out.
Yeah.
And he's going to,
it's going to pay off the problem.
One of the problem with Joe Burroughs,
he doesn't have that arm that you would want.
And I think that he is trapped in this situation
where teams do play the too high kind of shell
and in order to create explosive plays in that situation on schedule,
you got to be able to rip it cross-fill into holes.
And I don't think he has the arm strength to do that.
So rather than do that,
he'll buy time and try to make your,
coverage breakdown to create those big plays.
And it's similar to Josh Allen taking shots down field.
He might win three out of four times.
But that fourth time is going to add up if it happened three times a game for six,
seven, eight weeks in a row.
And it's added up time and time again in his career.
And it's already started in week one.
He's already a bit shaking up.
Oh, home alone looking at.
I don't know.
I just thought about that now.
We got also Tampa Bay and Cleveland.
It doesn't feel like,
Tampa Bay is playing for their season, right?
Like that's a division that is winnable.
Todd Bowles playing for his job.
Baker just got his money.
So it's just kind of whatever.
Cleveland, I mean,
are you playing for your season when your season's over before it started?
You see that clip of Joe Thomas talking about the moment
that he realized he spent 10 years fooling himself
thinking that the Browns could win
and how it just shook him to the core of his soul?
Those you haven't seen it,
it was really like a sad, touching moment.
But he's doing this interview.
He talks about they played,
game against the Patriots when he was playing for the Brown.
And they lost 30 to nothing.
And he played a perfect game.
And he said, his wife asked those,
he was sad about it.
Wife asked me, he played a bad game.
He said, no, he played a perfect game and that broke him.
He realized that every year for 10 years, he had been walking in,
convincing himself that those guys could win a championship,
only to realize he could play perfectly and he didn't matter.
He's a Hall of Fame player and how well he played didn't matter.
And it just made him cry.
Lucky for the Browns,
they don't have any Hall of Fame players.
Miles Garrett has other things to cry about as of now.
What they do have is a Hall of Fame.
Your boy, nasty D.
I just don't know, like, the level of narcissism that he possesses
to just not understand that you can't be saying the stuff that he'd be saying.
So this time, he talked about how the media won't be happy
unless he throws for, what, 400 yards and five touchdowns or something like that.
Did you know he has to throw for 300 yards once since he came to the Brown?
not a single time
and he keep talking about how people
don't treat him right.
How does, nobody
has told him you can't do this?
I don't, I don't think I would have connected
the Joe Thomas thing
to the Deshawn Watson thing
if it wasn't for the fact that you put him right next to each other.
But there is a level of delusion
that is required
to play this game, right?
And there's a level of delusion
that Joe Thomas needed to put up with that for 10 years.
And I think the same is true.
And a lot of players, if not all players,
there's some level of delusion.
And then the delusion is reinforced by you having some success.
And you combine that delusion with, I think,
the human nature to blame other people
and to feel sorry for yourself
as you end up where you are, where we are with Deshaun Watson right now.
And it ain't good.
They need to move him away from the moment.
microphone or maybe they're fine with them talking on the microphone because it gives us something
to focus on and not focus on how they lost by damn their 30 points and it seems like their
franchise has given up on the season already. The players haven't, I'm sure, but we're at the week
one. The first week of Todd Munkin's head coaching career, and he already dipping into I ain't
going to fire myself. He said that. I ain't going to fire myself. We did already?
Why is firing even on the table?
Why anybody got to get fired?
You're O-N-1, man.
Lots of people, the Rams are O-N-1.
Lots of people are O-N-1.
I ain't going to fire myself.
Look, Todd Buck is like, this is my chance to be a coach, right?
Like, he's in that situation.
That dude in Miami is in that situation.
A job, nobody, everybody wants to be a head coach,
but nobody wants those jobs.
Those are just the jobs that you have to take
in order to be a head coach.
right these are these are jobs like that um although i still think with bunkin hey number one he he sees
the other guy play so you know i have to trust that the people who are there making the decisions
no better than i do but the other part is as i forget who's y'all i think i was talking to stu gotts
about this yesterday hey man what's the most money that you have spent on something that you just said
you know what i ain't even going to use it no more because i mean they still pay it like they still
paying the note on it, right? Deshawn
Watson is, we got McDonald's
at home. Like, like, no,
we've already paid for this.
We are going to continue to use it.
It's the perfect analogy.
You're right. Where it was like, no,
I pay for it. I'm going to use it. I agree
that it don't work right, but
I'll get my money's worth out of this.
I'm quicker to give up on something.
Yeah, it's a sunk cost
fallacy and the ultimate
demonstration. Yeah. It's the sunk
cause. It's not even a sunk cause fallacy
because they aren't chasing it with more investment.
It's just like, we know this suck.
We know we don't like it,
but I'm going to wear this lime green suit
to every shindig just because I can't afford to buy another suit
until the draft come around.
Well, here's what the thing is.
I understand the argument that your fans hate it.
Why are you going to anger your fans?
And if the Cleveland Browns weren't going to do things
that angered their fans,
they would move the team again.
Because I don't know.
know what they ever do that doesn't make you guys unhappy.
Like this is, I thought that's just what y'all liked.
Yeah.
I think they,
and I think I'm not the first person obviously to say this,
that it feels like they plan on bringing Shador in for that first home game.
But they have orchestrated this in such a way that the fans are going to be overjoyed
and thrilled and celebrating this team when they come to town for their first home game
the following week from now.
because it's no way that they marched Deshaun Watson out there.
They're going to go nuts for Shador Sanders,
which is an insane thing to even think of
if you go back to all the conversation about Shadora Sanders
in the last year or so.
It's like all the way back to the draft.
I will make two points if they bench you for the black cup.
Who, buddy, they really don't like you.
Like, that's point number one.
And point number two, before we go to break
and talk about other people who are playing for their seasons.
want to know who had some really
impressive statistics last week
and a couple of pretty good throws.
Who that?
Nasty D.
If all you looked at
with nasty D's numbers,
you'd be like, damn,
I don't understand
where everybody's complained.
Eddie had that one touchdown pass?
And that's why he said what he said.
That's the only thing
he remembered from Phil.
They're going to get to Tailing Green
before the season is out.
He's on practice car right now.
He's 6-6 dude that run a 4-2.
That's going to be fun.
Well, that's what you do when the games really don't matter.
Hey, baby, we just end this for a good time.
Coming up next, we got some more football for you.

All right, we are back with Dominique Foxworth.
I feel like the Packers are playing for their season, but I also feel like they play it against the Jets.
And if it don't go the way that I think it's going to go, then I'll be wrong.
But we ain't really got to talk about that, you know.
the Denver Broncos are playing for their season
and they're playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And they're doing it on a short week.
Davis Webb.
Like he went from the last.
How long before Sean Payton get that back?
What might end up happening is he don't,
he don't tell nobody, but he started to have some input.
But actually, I don't see Sean Payton as the,
as the I don't tell nobody type of guy.
Sean Payton is, hey,
Sean Payton is going to make a ass out of you.
But yeah, it's not going to take it long
before it's turned over.
And from what I understand,
Bo Nix was excited about the Davis Webb switch.
So everybody's going to be mad when he looked.
He looked a little too excited.
He did.
He looked like,
he looked at Bo Nix I'd be telling people about.
Yeah.
In the playoffs last year, he looked great.
Like he was hitting intermediate routes that Sean,
that Sean Payton wouldn't let him throw most of the year.
And then for whatever reason in this game,
they went back to like screens and bombs
and it was not working because
the Chiefs was all over it. And it did feel
like Steve Spagnolo was
taking Davis Webb's ass in school.
It did feel like that.
When you go back and look at the timing of the Blitz
and the way he showed him something
in the first half and it just felt
very much like Steve O'Lass was like,
I've been here, young buck. Watch this.
Look, I remember when I first
started doing highly questionable and we would do
those interviews and
Dan Levitard was
gracious and kind enough to afford me the opportunity to try to lead a couple of those interviews.
And I want to be very clear. It wasn't going very well. It wasn't going terribly, but he's really good
at that, right? And this is very important. He had a very clear idea of what he wanted those
interviews to be, right? And I would watch him in the course of him, getting anxious, get a little
anxious over there. And then now looking
back on it, I could tell that somebody
jumped in his ear and was like, go ahead,
big fella. Take care of this.
And then he would come in
and he would bring it home with all his
questions that he would, you know, so what's the worst
moment of your life, right? Like he just jumped
in on the script where he needed to go
and he got it done. And then it was just like,
okay, cool, you go ahead and leave the interviews. It's fine.
Right? Like, this is, this is what you need
to do. I wish we could get
a whole cam with Sean Payton in that
game where I imagine he's just over there
try to, you know, like try to keep his hands,
doing other stuff, try to think about other phase.
Let me go help with the defense right fast.
I didn't even go look at this because he wanted to keep on the calling him
plays so bad.
I don't got Sean Payton as trying not to do that.
I got Sean Payton cussing in the headset.
Like, what the, who's that?
Why can't we?
Yeah, like, that week, that week he's trying not to.
Like that week, he's consciously trying not to.
When he went into the locker room,
they asked him how he felt about not.
calling plays. He said, talk to me in two quarters. Like, he was already pissed yet half time.
Yeah, yeah, tell you, man, like he's not, he can't do that. Andy Reid has tried to give this up a few times, right?
And Sean Payton been a coach for a long time. He know how to deal with the media.
Chalpain knew what question he was going to be asked, and he knew how he was going to answer it.
Sean is not on that sideline trying to bite his tongue. He's firing everybody ass up soon.
If it ain't happened yet, it's happening soon.
Chargers are played against the Raiders.
The Raiders are not playing for their season, but the charges are.
I'm just going to say the charges who win that game, right?
Let's just feel like you should.
Miami, again, are you playing for your season if you don't have a season?
However, I feel like I have been saying all week.
I wouldn't bet on the 49ers this week because they were coming back from playing the game on the moon.
And then I realized they were playing the dolphins
and maybe I spoke a little hastily.
But at the same time, this is your chance, Miami.
This is your chance.
I mean, we brought up a number of times
how the Raiders beat the Patriots
at the beginning of the last season.
Like, yeah, you got a chance to get some wins.
You got to get some here and there.
Otherwise, you don't want to get the week eight,
week nine with no wins.
And then we counting how many weeks left
before you join the Browns?
And a very, oh, the Browns,
Who else did that?
Didn't the Lions do that?
They only had one win.
But they went defeated.
No, the Lions went, the Lions went, the Lions went unwitting, unwon.
The Browns had you, the Browns went 015 and won.
Oh, oh.
The Lions put up a solid over.
My sophomore year in high school, we went one in nine.
It was, it was not good.
It was not a good feeling.
And the most embarrassing part was we won the last,
game of the year and we was excited. We celebrated. How could you not? How could you not?
How could you not? I mean all 15 people who were still coming to game. I'm sure they was excited
too. Yeah, all our mom was was very happy. Was it at home? Yeah, it was at home. We didn't have a home
field though. So it was we used like the community college had a field that we used. So it was not
easy for people to get there. It was rough. And like I had never been on a bad team before. And not
freshman year we're on JV and we
8 and 2, balling.
And all the sophomores moved up to varsity
and it was just us, getting our ass
killed. Yeah.
Yeah, tough, tough break.
Washington and Dallas are playing for their seasons.
But I feel like Dan Quinn's
playing for his job. Like, it's
I'm trying to figure out if it was
good or bad for them that the Lions
didn't have any players left in that playoff
game and Washington won
because it really wasn't that long ago that it was the
pitiful of optimism and Jane Daniels was the ward out of those guys.
He looked bad to me on Sunday.
You can tell me if I'm wrong, but I thought he and that whole offense looked bad.
But they were in it at the end.
I'll give them that part, but I didn't, I, they're going to,
I feel like they're going to finish it last in that division this year.
And they went all in after they had that good season in 24.
They might finish last in the division.
I think this is about perspective.
I thought they were going to be worse than they were.
So I didn't walk away from that game saying they look bad.
I think you're probably right.
The O-line held up better than I anticipated given that reporters called it inoperable at times.
That's an actual literal.
Literally.
Yeah, that's the word that was literally used.
And they were going up against one of the best defensive fronts in football.
They operated.
They scored some points.
They were in the game at the end.
Their defense was much better than it was last year.
I still think Jayden's great.
The question is, can you keep him healthy?
I think he's going to be fine no matter what going forward.
But you're right about Dan Quinn coaching for his job.
But this is as good an opportunity as you're going to get
because I went from Cowboys' Got a Chance to I'm all the way out on the Cowboys, man.
Really?
You see, and I could be wrong, but when the story of last season is your defense sucks,
you spend the whole offseason addressing it.
You spend the whole off season talking about it by your draft, your free agents,
your coach hiring, all your preseasoning camp is about we got to fix this defense.
We got to stop the run.
And then in week one, you at five minutes to go in the game,
you know they run into ball, they know they run in the ball.
You can't stop it.
That's hard for me to be able to just,
It's like it's week one, it's extended preseason.
Oh, they had a bad week.
That's all you wanted to do.
It's it.
Show these motherfuckers that we ain't to be pushed around.
We can stop the run.
That was the pregame speech, I guarantee it.
And they huddle with the defense before they went in to do the prayer.
They was like, look, they said that we can't do nothing.
We ain't show up last year.
But we got new boys.
We're the new boys.
Watch what we do.
They're not going to push us around.
then they got moved.
That hurt me. That broke my heart, man.
It broke. Yeah. Yeah. It's all
all fair points.
All all fair points.
I don't have anything to say after that.
I'm going to need them to prove it to me. I'm going to need them to prove it to me.
I'm out on them until they start stopping people.
Are we wasting any of our time on the Indianapolis cults?
Nope.
How did you feel, though, about that version of the chiefs that apparently is going to hit people in the mouth?
Like, I mean, I would expect if Mahomes, Mahomes did not play especially well, which I think was a reasonable expectation.
We'll see how he looks in the middle of the year.
However, they were hammering, though.
Like, they're going to, that looked like some Bill Parcell shit out there.
Yeah, the Mahomes not playing well.
I expected him to not run well, and he did that well, which was shocking to me.
And he, the offense is still struggling to throw the ball, which it has been for a while now.
Mahomes is still an incredible quarterback, but for whatever reason, he and the receivers can't consistently connect on anything.
They had one big play to Kelsey when, like, there's a mistackle on zero coverage.
That's a big play, but I don't think you can rely on Travis Kelsey as the explosive play guy.
And also, like, I think this was a great week one, but this is going to be a difficult way for them to live their life going forward.
is they're going to get all their explosive plays from Kenneth Walker,
and they're going to give Kenneth Walker 30 touches a game.
It's a great win.
But that ain't the recipe, man.
That is not the recipe.
You have to do the smash mouth.
And I think that getting in a situation where teams are preparing to stop a running attack
when the quarterback is Patrick Mahomes,
I have to assume that that's going to work out at some point,
but I got to see them do it.
I got to see them connect down the field with these passes.
Otherwise, I don't see them.
They're one of the teams that it's only one thing that matters, right, is championships,
like winning a division or getting to the playoffs.
We don't care.
I don't see them as a championship contender until they figure out the passing game, which
I have to think that they will, but they still haven't in the past three years.
Well, is Andy Reed losing his fastball?
Yeah, that's worth considering.
I mean, they've been a defensive-centric team for the last few seasons.
Like the story of their team's success is they win or lose based.
on how well their defense played.
And that was true in this game also.
Their offense was really explosive on the ground
and ran the ball well, but the defense really shut down the Broncos.
And that's been the story of this team since they traded Tyreek Hill away.
This has been a team that's like defense has been underrated,
but like the biggest part.
And then Mahomes also like converting crazy long third and longs consistently.
I think that was two years ago.
That's impressive.
And last year it all swallowed them up.
And we just saw a bad version of that team even before Mahomes got hurt.
And this year, I have a hard time imagining that they just going to be a smash-mouth team the whole season and have success.
Some teams are going to be able to stop that run.
And they're going to need to be able to punish people with explosive play.
That reminds you just what a Beesbill Belichick was for all that time.
Like they never, in that whole Brady Belichick run, there was never one of those like the Chiefs had last year.
Not even the year Brady got hurt.
I was never one of those.
The Rams are a Monday night,
but the Rams are playing for their season.
The Miles Garrett being hurt thing is, like,
I think that's no small thing.
We'll see what Aaron Donald looks like
coming out of mouth balls.
And I came away thinking that the Giants
may actually be good.
And the Rams are coming back after playing that game
in Australia.
Like, they could very, look,
that Australia game has potential
to mess up the whole season for them.
There's, so, yeah,
so first about the Rams,
I think you're right.
There's a lot of pressure on this team right now.
I think we focus a lot on Miles Garrett in the defense for obvious reasons,
but I think we also need to pay attention to Matt Stafford.
We talk about, I'm certainly not suggesting that this is true,
off an MVP year that he just falls off a cliff,
but we do talk about that for certain types of players and it's possible.
That's on the board.
This age is injury history that it's on the board.
I think we also can explain it away with the travel
in a unique situation.
Like, yeah, that could have been a bad week.
But if we see it again,
then we need to be aware
that this offense may not be able to operate
the way that we expected to
with Matt Stafford.
And Puka's still incredible difference maker.
They still can run the ball well.
So it just lowers the ceiling for this team
and honestly lowers the floor.
This team is constructed defensively
around having a dominant defensive front.
They want to play dime.
They want to have little guys behind
and they think
they can survive that way because their D-line is dominant.
And if their D-line's not dominant,
they're forced to put their linebackers back on the field
and their linebackers that are the week part of it.
So it's a chain reaction that feels like this season could unravel for them
if they don't tighten up quick.
I said, I think I was talking about the Eagles,
the Sixers and basketball earlier this year.
I was like, oh, man, they could be the Eagles dream team.
They're like, oh, man, we hadn't this old dude.
Oh, snap, we hadn't this old dude.
don't always work out that way.
It doesn't always work out.
But yeah, we talked a bit about the Giants.
The Giants, like I said, they looked good, man.
I mean, I think that there are some things about football that are always true.
And if you can run the ball the way that they run the ball,
it's going to put you in, it's going to raise your floor of how competitive you can be.
And this is one of those games where I think that we need to see it against some other opponents
because it might just be that the Cowboys defense is just that bad still.
But I also think the one thing that jumped off the screen for me was Jackson Dart was driving
with both hands on the wheel with a seatbelt on during the speed limit.
And it's possibly because they were successful running the ball and the defense wasn't
terrible that he didn't feel like he had to do something more.
But there's going to come a time when he going to have to take a hand off and start doing something
a little bit crazy out there.
And I think that'll be a measure of how high their ceiling is,
is what kind of quarterback Jackson Dart is.
If he's able to throw the ball in those situations
when the game's grip is turned against them.
But that one went according to plan.
It was the exact game plan that I'm sure Harbaugh wanted to implement.
And that's the benefit of having like this CEO style coach
just not focused on one side of the ball or the other,
is that his idea is connecting the offense and defense.
And we're going to play defense this way.
We're going to play offense this way.
They're going to complement each other.
And if something breaks down, we'll adjust,
but nothing broke down in that game.
They complimented each other throughout the whole time,
wait for Dak to make a mistake and get that turnover.
That's all you need.
I want to throw something out here.
You don't want to talk about it.
It's cool.
I am intrigued by Bob Kraft inadvertently
shut down the Ed Shearer tour.
You've seen this story.
For those of you who have not seen this story,
do you remember McElmore?
I feel like you have to, like,
you know what, this is the thing I need to keep in mind about
McElmore.
Apparently there's a world where McElmore is still a thing.
I remember it was that one year when McElmore was out here
doing the thing and he won the Grammy
and he acted like he said,
he said Kendrick a text message,
apologizing.
The, the,
trying to think of the right turn.
to use for it, but
it's the sort of white behavior
that makes the other white people
really annoyed, right?
Like, is it pandering? Is that the word
that we're looking for? Yeah, I think that's
accurate. It was pandarific.
Anyway, that was like
13, 14 years ago, something
like that, I ain't thought about McElmore
one time. What I have been made
aware of about Malcolm Moore is that
he is a strident advocate
of the Palestinian cause.
And at a concert, he got
on stage and I'm paraphrasing
here, but he said that
basically criticism of Israel is
not anti-Semitism
and then went on to say
Free Palestine. Bob
Kraft, who is heavily invested
in the anti-Antisemitism
cause. I know that's redundant, but I can't think of no other
way to put it, right? He's, you know,
those commercials that you see during the games
about standing behind you Jewish friends
and all that stuff, that's Bob Kraft's money.
This is his thing. Bob
Kraft, heard about McLemore, and then decided that
that tour could not come to his stadium, where he had been
scheduled to go at Gillette Stadium, and then found out that the other
NFL stadiums that were left on the Ed Sherron-McLmore tour,
Ed Sheron's opening for McLemore, the rest of those stadiums will now
not have the Ed Shearron tour come through.
And Sharon, I firmly believe, thought, damn, I got to save this
tour and tell McLemore that he got to be off.
the tour because Bob Kraft
basically shook him down to get McLemore
off the tour. I don't know if Ed Shearer had
Shearne expected McLemore to run and tell. However, he
jumped right on the internet and he told
everybody what happened and now
there's only one person left on that tour
and that person is Ed Sheareran.
And when I say that Ed Sheareran is the only
person left on that tour, I mean
his backup bait.
Quit the tour.
Ed, so
in that situation, I think
you're Ed Shearing and you have some choices.
Obviously, Ed Shearin's a guy who's tried to run the Republicans by sneakers too.
And I don't follow a bunch of like you.
Like you, I haven't thought about Ed Sheerun or McLemore and forever.
So like I can't speak to all the things they've done.
But since I've read up on some of this stuff,
Ed Shearing, we don't know where he stands and he likes it that way.
Yes.
When you are put in a position like that, I think it's,
it's an obvious, it feels like the obvious decision to do is save the tour.
You're not hurting nobody by moving somebody off the tour who's hurting the tour.
But I always think that what you can always fall back on is speaking, freedom of speech.
Like if this is my guy that's on my tour, like I think it's interesting the question of what Ed Shearing does.
And I think if you, if you're able to look at this abstractly and not take into account,
what McLemore was speaking about,
I think then you're weighing,
how do I keep this tour going,
versus shut the tour down?
But what happened to Ed is that people are like,
no, what you're actually choosing is,
how do I stand,
do I choose to stand against genocide
or do I choose to stand up for free speech or not?
And that, I think,
he didn't realize what decision he was actually making
or how people would view his decision
because I think he's right.
If somebody get up on stage and say something stupid,
I'm like, you got to get off the tour.
Right.
But the problem is by you kicking him off the tour,
you're expressing the people that you think what he said is stupid.
Yeah, well, he thought that he was playing the middle.
Yeah.
Only to find out there is no middle.
Right?
Like that, I think there's a lesson to be learned from,
the Democratic primaries of this election year. I've said two things I think have become clear.
One of them is that affordability is the political issue period. If you're not talking about what
people can afford, ain't nobody really trying to hear you. That's number one. And number two is that
the moral issue of the day is what has happened in gossip. Like that is to this era of what the
apartheid discussion was in the 1980s, right? It is clearly there. It is top of mind for people
and it's become hugely clear in these primaries, right?
And Sharon's thought was, man, this guy said the thing that made somebody mad.
I will now get the thing out of here that made somebody mad and we'll keep going.
And he didn't realize, forget about making the customers, man.
We didn't even get to the customer part.
You just suffered a mutiny of your whole tour.
Your backup band for 10 years was like, no, we ride with this right here.
What struck me about it is Kraft put out a statement
that sounded far more reasonable
than I think his actions would have indicated
like the no, you can't do this in my stadium.
He was like, yeah, I'd love to talk to Michael more about this, right?
Like, da-da-da, all these things.
But he called what the man said, hate speech.
And that's where I'm like,
regardless of where you fall on this issue,
if that counts as hate speech,
baby we can't talk about nothing like that is the argument that craft is making is that there's literally no room for disagreement on this one because the statement free Palestine i've talked to jewish people who believe that the palatthenians need to be free from Hamas right like you could even spun it that way if you wanted to like there's a whole lot of room in this and he and backelmore thought he had made it easy he was like hey man i still ride for my jewish brothers i'm not talking about you i'm talking about this and they're like nah you talk about you talk about this and they're like nah you talk about you talk about you talk about
the craft is like, no, you talking about me.
And so if you can't even say that much,
then, ooh,
ooh, tricky play.
But you know who's messing it up for him, Dominique?
That boy, Kanye.
Kanye is the, because Kanye's back.
I don't think we've talked about this enough.
Kanye had a very long stretch of time
where he really could not book like legitimate venues
because nobody would book him
because he had talked so crazy.
I forget how long ago it was, but not too long ago.
You remember he put out that apology that was in the Wall Street Journal?
He quietly, I wasn't paying attention because I thought he was beyond redemption at that point,
but he began the apology tour and apparently it worked and was directed to the right people
because he could go back to booking some of these venues.
And so I know at least one of the, I know definitely Dallas.
I think it's a couple of these other venues that have decided they were going to cancel
Macklemore are going to have shows by a dude who did a song called Hail Hitler.
And the argument is that you're not having the Ed Shear and McLemore tour because it's anti-Semitism,
but Kanye somehow is forgiven for Hail Hitler.
I hadn't seen him apologize that goddamn much, right?
Like maybe this has happened in places and I just wasn't paying enough attention.
I don't know what channels he went through.
but it becomes difficult to make the argument
that this is about anti-Semitism.
There's a difference between saying this about anti-Semitism
than saying, no, this is about that war.
And if your cause is anti-Semitism,
I think people are down to listen to you.
If your cause is a war, you're not going to win that one.
Because there are enough people
who are just violently opposed to war as its own idea.
What jumped out to me about reading
Robert Kraft's statement was that was his first statement.
It read to me like a second statement correcting an original first statement that was too harsh.
Right?
Like because it had so much room in understanding for the broader picture, but still asserted
something that it felt like those two things can't exist in one person's head at the same time, right?
Is it feels like you can't be like this is anti-Semitism, but also.
I understand and appreciate and stand for all this.
Like that's to me was the unusual part is that he's aware.
And when this first happened, I started thinking like, all right, I know what happened.
This is about living in silos and having these views reinforced to you to a point where you believe something that you, that another side believes something completely opposite.
You guys are somehow living in the same world, but consuming a different diet and as do with the people you surround yourself with.
and the things that are important to you.
And I was like, that's obvious.
He just don't understand or they just don't understand
what's happening on the other side.
But when you read the statement,
it's like, whoever wrote this
is clear about what to say
to try to defend against the other,
about to defend against the idea
that you are pro-genocide,
which is what it comes down to.
And that's the part to me that was unusual
to have a statement that both says
this is hate speech.
and recognizes the plight and the understanding
for a need of free.
Like that to me.
That is a good point.
That to me,
it was like, as I'm reading it from sentence to sense,
it was bouncing me back and forth.
Like, oh, no, you get it.
Oh, no, you don't.
Yeah.
Like, that's what I was saying.
It didn't seem as the statement
makes craft seem not nearly as strident
as the action.
Right.
But you're right.
I think that is a great way to put it.
Let us, give us the Google Doc.
And we can go track the edit.
It's see what they had to see.
Like, no, we're not going to put that in there, baby.
Let's take that whole paragraph out.
It's also a really long statement.
It is.
Because you got to get all that shit in there.
That's why.
And I can understand, like,
the, I mean,
the desire to put on for your city,
essentially, like, I,
I experience that myself all the time.
Where if something happening, I got to get out here
and let these people know
that I,
stand with my people. Like, I get that. And that came across, too, where he's including all
these other, like, capitulations to another argument, but he's also like, I stand. Like,
it felt like he wanted to be able to go back and see, and say, see? I told him. I told him, right,
guys? But also still be like, no, but I understand, please keep coming to the stadium and buying
these tickets. Yeah, let me tell you something, though. Sports better get ready. Because, like,
I mentioned, the apartheid angle of this. I don't know if you're something. I don't know if you
saw this, Al-Shayir of the Texas,
had put the little Palestinians girl named his eyed black,
and he got fine.
See, this is where people don't get this about the NFL.
The NFL is smart in there.
You can't say nothing because they don't have to get out here
and speak to the hypocrisy of anything.
They're like, nope, if you do any little thing that we say you can't do,
you're getting fine.
There's nothing to talk about, right?
It's across the board.
But did you see?
He said that he would pay.
Al Shire is fine for this.
Go on, go and tell him.
Oh, King crossover himself.
Kyrie Irvin.
Look, I've been saying for a long time, boy,
Kyrie's been over there being chill,
not saying nothing crazy,
not saying anything out of hand.
I tell you, every now that he'd be showing up with DeKefa.
Like, I think he'd be coming to work
and they'd be trying to hope that shit chill.
He'd be coming to work,
and they'd be looking out and be like, hey, nice scarf, dog.
Hey, look, anyway, let's just keep it moving, right?
But they ain't so much longer
he going to be able to keep watching this stuff on television.
vision and God knows what he's seeing on the internet.
I would pay to see Kyrie's algorithm.
There is no telling.
But this is the moral issue of the day.
This is going to pop up in ways and fashion.
And it is in this election year where, again,
a significant portion of the electorate is stating what side they're on.
And it's not the side that people have been on for the last 60, 70 years in this country.
Like the people who are standing on the side of the palace,
They are more vocal and they are becoming more mainstream.
And I mean, they need to be lucky that we had an era of rap that the only rapper
going for this one is Macklemore.
Think about that for a second.
They'd be all the revolution out of the rappers.
And somehow I think Drake might be the only one that put anything in his songs
that reference anything about that when he taking shots at Caled.
and I think he had like a free
Gaza in one of his recent
songs that I read in one of these articles
except people are believing that
that it could be
it could be in reference to some
Caribbean area that also
calls themselves Gaza but yeah
I'll forward you the article that says that
Drake it may or may not be weighing in
to this
play. That would be interesting on a number
of levels. I was stunned. Yeah,
I was stunned by it but that's a
whole other conversation. Yeah, I don't, yeah, I don't
I don't really know where the Lenny Kravitz delegation stands on these matters.
Yeah.
But I think, I mean, I, so we probably, this would end up in a longer conversation.
But I think that we don't take into account how someone's identity can be shifted by what's
happening to and around them.
And I think that he looks back on the Kendrick thing as like, y'all acting like he
the realist when he working for the man and this was all orchestrated by the man.
And now he finds himself in a position where there's a lane to be like,
nah, I'm the realist.
I'm down for the people.
I'm trying to be independent.
I'm not operating as an arm of the industry.
I think that is a lane that is available to him, how genuine it is or not, or whether
he wants to take it or not, it's a lane that's there now.
And it's the only way that I think he can save face from the Kendrick thing because that was a
big old fat L and now he's suing people and they're like, why are you suing the,
and his response is, I'm suing the man.
I'm the people.
I'm suing the big man.
And it's like a,
it's a compelling place to be.
Yeah, like I could see how you came up with that.
I'm not saying it's true.
Oh, I know, I know.
I'm looking at Drake like, it's not that I don't get what you're going for here.
Yeah, right.
It's just not.
Yeah.
But no, it's coming, man.
Like this is.
coming. I mean, look, election year is
we're lucky it's not like a big election year
assuming we're going to have one of those.
Oh, but like we're lucky
it's not a big election year, but
I don't think this is going to be
the end on this. Can I ask you a question
and this might sound stupid, but like
it, I have never
felt like my algorithm
is more
distinct from
people in my circle than before.
Like it used to be, and maybe it's about me
getting older and spending less time
in the social media, but so often, like, my buddy Charlie Kravitz,
we're like different demographically.
However, there used to be a time it felt like five years ago that if I saw it,
I knew he saw it.
And now there's so many different things that it's like,
I never see it or I see something that he never sees it.
It just feels that the algorithm is being, it's just,
it's less of the monoculture,
which I know it's not a new thing,
but it feels even more extreme and distinct to me.
I don't know.
I do feel like all our friends are getting the same.
Fuck Stephen A. Smith content.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think we're all getting that.
We're in that demo, for sure.
Yeah, that's a good question.
I wish there could be a way that we could just like,
I could put my account next to your account.
Yeah.
And they could tell us,
but the only way we can do that
is we have to sell our information over.
I'd love to see, like,
how similar and different, like,
our two accounts plus Ryan.
Yeah, I'm sure it would be very different.
I don't, yeah.
I mean, I noticed in like our group chat that you guys
surfaced things that I hadn't seen before
and I'll surface things that surprise you that I,
or I'll get something sent to me two days after I seen it.
I was like, hey, that's weird.
I know you was on there.
Why are you just seeing this now?
It's just a weird dynamic.
That's a good question.
Like the thing for people to realize is
when we watch the news, we're not watching the same news.
Like everybody having different news to watch is really bad.
Now, you can make an argument, on one hand, you can say that,
but at the same time, you can make an argument that all of us,
all of us watching different news is bad,
but is all of us watching the same news good?
Like, the answer obviously is somewhere in between.
Yeah, there's so much information that someone has to make editorial decisions.
And at one point, we knew who was making editorial decisions,
and now it doesn't.
feel like since we don't it doesn't feel like we know who's making the editorial.
Well, what I know is the decision is you probably sending me something that either is a woman
you think I'm attractive or a person you think is going to make me mad.
Like that's why I mentioned the Stephen A thing.
They're like, nah, man, we know this what gets y'all going.
Stephen A.
Right here.
Saying stuff that you don't like.
We're going to get it all.
Like in his little sit down with Jamel, the thing I found interesting was like hearing
how much he was critical of Trump.
They don't never send me when he do that.
And I don't ever send that.
I noticed that I feel like I have less control because there was a time when I felt like I could train my algorithm away from things.
But now it's like, nah, nah, you fit in this demo.
They keep trying me.
They keep trying me.
Keep trying me to watch one of these videos or somebody doing some shit that I don't like.
And they just like, I know who you are.
No matter what you try to convince me, I know that you're going to end up back here.
Look at it at this.
It's either big booties or is somebody talking about black people.
One another. They know who I am. They know what I want to see.
