Meanwhile, Drake Maye and the Patriots pick up a potentially season-saving win. Also, Patrick Mahomes looks like Patrick Mahomes again as the Kansas City Chiefs survive the Las Vegas Raiders, while Bomani explains why the Raiders may be better than their record suggests. Plus, Bo discusses Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ protection problems, the undefeated Vikings’ offensive concerns, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, Bryce Young’s improvement with the Panthers, the struggling Texans, Cam Ward’s bizarre situation with the Titans, and yet another rough day for the New York Jets. Later, Bomani reacts to the growing controversy surrounding Indiana Fever fans and the WNBA, including comments from Fever GM Amber Cox and the league’s handling of fan behavior. He explains why complaints from WNBA players can’t simply be dismissed and why the situation surrounding the Fever could become an even bigger issue next season. Bo also discusses John Gruden’s appearance at a political rally, Vivek Ramaswamy’s awkward viral moment, and the nine albums that have had the biggest impact on his life — featuring Prince, OutKast, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Juvenile, Bill Withers, The Wailers, Raekwon and David Bowie.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Starting point is 00:01:18 You only give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. It is a lot of NFL to talk about. We'll also get to that one thing. I said I wasn't going to talk about no more. But it got interesting again. But anyway, Ryan looked to be terrified when I mentioned that. Like you did not know that I had planned for a,
Starting point is 00:01:35 to talk about that one thing. You know, like, that one thing could be lots of things, unfortunately. You know what I'm talking about. I do know the one you're talking about. But it'll be cool. It'll be cool. You know, like every night of then I got to change my mind about something. I'm sure nobody's going to like it.
Starting point is 00:01:49 But you know what? I'm going to do it anyway. Speaking of nobody liking it, I'm here to talk to you, Rams fans and Eagles fans. You didn't like that, did you? I mean, the Rams won. You certainly like to win, right? Nobody wants to lose. Good for you, Rams.
Starting point is 00:02:07 You have to feel better about that. But I just want to throw out there that three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford. He's doing those Staffordy things. I don't know. He does Staffordy things. When he is on, he is on. And by the way, he brought it home at the end in a way that's going to become very relevant to our discussion a little bit later.
Starting point is 00:02:28 But man, he was out there also Whiskey Tango Foxtri. We'll get to the king of Whiskey Tango Foxtri. Josh Allen a little bit later. But for right now, that was the interceptions that he threw in that game were bad. Like that was a game that the weather was such that everybody has an excuse for whatever they want the excuse to be because, duh, you're trying to throw a football in the rain, you're playing on the road, it's a one o'clock kick, all of those things. But three-time pro bowl quarterback, Matthew Stafford, is always going to give you a chance to take one. He gave them at least two, at least, right?
Starting point is 00:03:04 The other thing about that game, though, and this is where they, right, I think you'd agree. The Eagles are, I think, are far more interesting situation coming out of that game. Like, Rams, you got to win. Eraddle couldn't play because, you know what, we just kind of, I don't know if forgot is the right word, but I guess ignored would probably be fine. Araddonald, oh, dog. I think I told you, you know, the day I was watching a game, and they referred to Judevian Cloudy as the old veteran.
Starting point is 00:03:32 You know, that's same draft class that we're talking about there, right? Like that's, that's an old guy who hadn't played in a couple of years. Ryan ain't even put him on a plane. No, didn't even take him to Philly. No, no, no, no, no. So he's old, Miles Garrett is not playing. This is just not what anybody thought it was going to be coming into this season. Pooka back from being hurt, and you know we're going to get hurt again,
Starting point is 00:03:54 because he just liked that. You know what I'm saying? I honestly don't know how he doesn't have to, like, wear a helmet, just walking around on the street. Like just one, like, red or something, be all scratched up on the top of it. You know what I mean? just on the streets, just in case he get the urge to do some dumb shit.
Starting point is 00:04:09 I just don't know why they don't do that just to play a safe. You don't think they, you know, put him on in that helmet when he goes on those podcasts and, you know, says those things that he likes to say. Yeah, hey, I tell you this, though, he would have got some help, right? He wouldn't, he would have looked into some things. So perhaps that will, like, change his outlook. I hope so. I hope so.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Right. But the Eagles. Number one, Ryan and I have talked about this. as far as I can tell, and we live in a city with a metro area of what, 20, 25 million people. Somewhere around there. There is no more robust economy of former players, fans, whatever it is, talking about a team like there is around the Eagles. Like, they feel like, what if Alabama was in like Philadelphia?
Starting point is 00:05:03 Right? Like it's not quite as red- Their standards aren't as high. Obviously, the Eagles are still a little bit happier just to be there. But, you know, as I've learned, like, the internet is a place that people go to be unhappy. And I don't feel like you stay in Philadelphia because you don't like being mad. Right. Like, I just feel like this is just what they do. That is about their cruising altitude all the time. Yeah, yeah, just kind of a steady level of, they seem like, they seem like, what's the thing about people? They say about people in the north that they are not nice. but they are kind. The people in the South are nice, but they are not kind.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Like, they seem to be very kind-hearted people, and if you needed some help or whatever, they come do something for you. I personally learned a lot about Philly and have nice things to say about it because in the opening scene or Rocky, Rocky listening to Summer Maddenous by cooling the gang. Like, I'm just saying,
Starting point is 00:05:51 I think those people are probably cooler than they get credit for. But did I send you that clip of the news broadcast with the fans? No. Oh, man, it was one of the Philly stations, and the news went to talk after the game. Right. It may have been the station that the game was on, right?
Starting point is 00:06:05 So they're immediately rolling the Eagles content. Yeah. Okay. That woman was on the mic. You would have thought that the federal building that got blown up. Like, there was just the level of sadness in her tone, and then she gets to talking to the people, and they just can't wait to get on TV
Starting point is 00:06:22 and just talk about how mad and sad they are about what it is that the Eagles did or did not do in the course of that game, right? It was bad. And look, it comes back to Hertz, and I feel, bad for Hertz in this sense. Hertz is the appropriate term because apparently playing for the Eagles really hurts because everybody's hurt.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Except for Lane Johnson, he just, some came up. Yeah. He couldn't play, right? But everybody's hurt. Sequin Barclay you get out there, another guy, sneaky old Saquan Barkley. He gets out there, he pulls his hamstring.
Starting point is 00:06:56 So he's out of there, Devante Smith. He gets hurt. They were throwing passes to gentlemen with whom I I'm not really that familiar. I know who Zach Ertz is, and that's part of the problem, because he's been playing for 40 years. Yeah, a Cooper, a Lemon, and a Wix. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Now, that being said, people who are filming will tell you that those guys might have been running around wide open and not receiving passes from Jalen Hertz. Bottom line is, it's been over 90 minutes of gameplay since the Eagles converted. a third down. They had a, they were, it was third down, third in goal. They were up 10 in the third quarter and they lost.
Starting point is 00:07:44 How does this happen? Did you see that dude down on the show where I show and them losing his ever-loving mind talking about the Eagles? No. But the point that he made was their average starting position on their scoring drives was the plus 26. Right? I remember looking up at a point.
Starting point is 00:08:02 put in the game and it was two turnovers and no points off of the turnovers, I think was what it said. Right. You got to get a third down. You have, I don't care how bad everything is around you. Your quarterback should be capable of, your quarterback who can run, by the way, should be capable of getting you one, one would think. That's not, I'm not, I don't feel comfortable blame and hurts for what didn't happen because there was so much that was going on.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Right. But that I will say that there was great room for him to play better. He didn't have to play a lot better. A little better would have done it. And if he had played a little better, it still would have been bad. But he could have played a little better and they could have won the game. Right. And he didn't.
Starting point is 00:08:58 And part of that is because there's a limitation to how good he is. Now, again, every team that I've watched him be successful with had one thing in common. Everybody else was better than him, or at the very least, as good, right? Like, I watched him play with them Alabama teams. I watched him play with Oklahoma. Those squads were loaded. Loaded. And if you, not everybody can do this.
Starting point is 00:09:23 If you give him a loaded team, he can help you get to loaded results. But we also saw 2017, where you gave him a loaded team, where DeVante Smith is the number three receiver and Jaylon Waddle is the number four, and had to bench him at halftime. All right. In this game, your quarterback that makes money like he's the quarterback should at the very least get you a third down. That's all we're asking for here is a third down conversion. And he can't do that, right?
Starting point is 00:09:54 Now, again, their line is not what it was, da, dot, dot, everything else. But they have a quarterback. here's what you can't do with him, overcome. Right. You could perhaps execute, but you cannot overcome. And it's obvious you can't overcome. For better or worse, right? For better or worse, he cannot overcome.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And this is a team that right now looks like they need a quarterback that can occasionally help you overcome. And they don't have that. Now, to be fair to them, I say that, I don't think anybody came out of that game feeling good. Ryan, I ask you this question sincerely. Let's just stick with the NFC for now. Who feels good?
Starting point is 00:10:40 The 49ers. I do think they feel good, though. They were not great. That's the first time they played a real live NFL team. Yes. And I didn't. Well, no, they played the Rams, but the Rams. Yeah, not in America.
Starting point is 00:10:54 The Rams made horrible decisions along the way. Yes. I guess the Seahawks don't feel bad. The Bears feel good. Yes. But, yeah, they're three and one, and they don't have their quarterback. Well, yeah, three wins with three different starting QBs. That is correct.
Starting point is 00:11:10 They feel good. And, I mean, I know the Giants feel good. But they have to. I mean, similar on that. That team is, I texted you, we're never going to have a good football team in the city. Dude, the Giants is like, it's like if you looked in your bank account and there was money there. that you knew wasn't supposed to be. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:39 Like, you can spend it if you want. But you might go to jail for that. Right. Like, hey, you know, that's not your money. Right. You know, you know, Camp Scataboo is doing commercials for the farmer's dog? I did not know that.
Starting point is 00:11:54 And so if you don't know what the farmer's dog is, the farmer's dog is a dog food company, and it's like high-end dog food. Yes. You know, like it's craft dog food. Is that what we're looking for? Organic dog food. Yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:12:09 This is where we are. And it's scatibu with that ridiculous haircut and it's showing him feeding the dogs and he's down and he's, you know, playing with the dogs and mushing their hair and their fur and all of that stuff. And I watched that and I was like, oh my gosh, he's not getting any sleep in North Jersey. That dude is in North Jersey putting in work. Having a great time. He's at the dog park. Just watch what happens. Watch what happens.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Not even playing fair. No chance. Shout out to you, Dallas Cowboys. Because it was about to be real ugly. They lost that game. Right. I mean, talk about QBs who teams that don't feel good. Houston Texans, O and 4.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Yeah, well, we'll get to them. We'll get to them. Well, I'd say who really doesn't feel good. I'll tell you this. I don't know. Who watched Sunday night football? but it was layup lines for America's team to Detroit Lions. Like, after the game, they were talking to Campbell about whether or not he would consider making a move off Kelvin Shepard, the defensive coordinator.
Starting point is 00:13:13 What, that going to change? Their problem is their defensive backfield is me, Ryan, and a couple of y'all. Yeah. They are down four safeties. They are on their number five and six safeties. The last line of, they're the last line of defense of their last line of defense. defense. The quarters, and the quarters aren't good. Right. So let's start there. And Collins Brothers was talking about this. Like they want to play man to man. They know they can't
Starting point is 00:13:40 play man to man. They went to zone. The dudes can't play zone. So they just like, fuck it, we might as well play man to man. That's what we're trying to do, except the problem is they can't play man to man. This is, who, I chose this life. You locked it in. I opted in with no like obvious reason why one would opt in. But I did opt in. And that was tough, man. That was demoralizing. I think that's the worst part about it.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Bryce Young, aka a little homie, somebody seen me in Texas and was like, yo, so is Bryce Young good? I don't know. He's got to play it against a high school secondary out there. I mean, we will say this for infamously when I said his first and second year, the little homie's doing the best he can.
Starting point is 00:14:32 that the little homie is doing the best he can, and the best he can is better than we thought it would be. Like, we're going to have to kind of adjust the way we look at it when these guys have awful rookie years. I mean, he got bench for Andy Dalton. In year two. In year two. And this is him being the quarterback that the owner drafted,
Starting point is 00:14:51 basically. He's turned it around, right? Good for him. They're showing him in the pocket. He's doing them tricks that the little homies be doing, standing on his toes and all this stuff to try to figure. it out like like he's he's manufactured this but they i didn't enjoy watching that game at all i that's that's that's that's that's what i got i didn't i didn't like how it felt i just didn't
Starting point is 00:15:16 the packers don't feel good either even though they won that game no i mean they barely beat a team with a quarterback hey okay so this is i know i've seen people in the comments that when i say the team must not be good because i ain't ever heard of any of the players guys i do do this for a fucking living, okay? It's like, if it's at the point where your name has never come up anywhere, it's okay for me to say, I got a feeling those guys aren't really that good. No. Right?
Starting point is 00:15:42 It's never come up at all, none of you, right? I mean, is there a certain arrogance to that? No, because this is like, I don't know what you think about me as a practitioner of my craft. I promise you, I try to keep up. Right. But when we got black quarterback starting in the NFL that I've never heard of, shit, I don't know who. Am I not doing my professional duty?
Starting point is 00:16:04 Am I not doing my personal duty? I don't know what it is. But they got a brother named Jay Lynn, Jay Lynn. Not to be a confessor Jay Denton. Jay Linton Daniels, he went to Kansas. He played for Tampa Bay and the Packers beat them by three. And Packers had an opportunity to move off the coach last year. They didn't and they chose to re-up.
Starting point is 00:16:26 And I think they're going to regret that. Now, part of this, I don't know how much of it is coaching when you literally can't block. Right. Right. For that, I do not have an answer. I'm going to say one last thing about a team that doesn't feel good, and I don't think it feels good,
Starting point is 00:16:41 and that is the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings. Oh, I was going to say that was a team that should feel good. I was going to transition off them with the Giants as terms of, you know, fraud. Well, well, well, okay. The Vikings played the Dolphins, and I would argue the game was closer than what we're prefer. for it to be if you are the undefeated team. Did not score touchdown.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Now, this Colin Murray guy appears to be, Tiltow making a fool of your boy. I don't really appreciate that. These other people didn't stand with you, but I did, in spite of that weird shit that happened that time I met him. I stood, right? I was like, no, man, this guy got it. I don't really understand why they so down on them down there,
Starting point is 00:17:30 the way they acted about it. If Sam Darno could get good, I don't see why Kyle of Murray can't get good and I still don't see why Kyle of Murray can't get good I would like him to do it though because I got news for you Jack if he doesn't we put out some social content that's going to bite me in the keyster
Starting point is 00:17:47 repeatedly repeatedly I learned last week it's a lot of people waiting for moments like these and Kyle of Murray appears to be a playing for an 18 he's just two of them in a row first one like hey man you ain't played in a while then right there it happened again.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Son, I need you to understand this. They have already parked you for Jacoby Brissette, which means they will definitely park you for Carson Wins. Please, please, please. They've already seen a little proof of concept. I have a Kellyn O'Connell thought. Fire away. You know how they always refer to these guys with the quarterback whisper?
Starting point is 00:18:23 Yes. Maybe he needs to speak up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the one thing about the quarterback whisperer. Like, yeah, some people need to, like, talk to them. Now, for what it's worth, it was. clear that they were not whispering at J.J. McCarthy anymore. No.
Starting point is 00:18:35 They were, they were, they were speaking with their chess. Yeah. When they, uh, when they, uh, when they, uh, when they, oh my God, before they gave them the boot, all of it. They were just like, we are sick of this. Like, what is this? But yeah, I need, I, I, for the Vikings to really have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Because here's what the Vikings are going to be susceptible to is. They're going to give up some big plays every now and they're blitzing 80% of the time, it's 70% of the time, whatever it is. Like, which is not what you do when you're actually good. Yes, except they. kind of are. Right? Every now and then,
Starting point is 00:19:07 something big is going to happen. They gave up a 53-yard run in this game, for example. Every now and then, the 85 Bears had a game where they need to score some points. Right. Right. They're going to need to score some points
Starting point is 00:19:20 and nine yards of completion. That's not. No. That's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's not going to do. Okay. I feel like I don't know why I waited so long into the show to get here.
Starting point is 00:19:44 But Sunday was another Nick Wright special. Yes. Right. His birthday was over the weekend. And he got another bad Justin Herbert game, which again is another situation of, but they can't block. Right. Right. And I am not the excuse Justin Herbert for everything.
Starting point is 00:20:00 But I think it was fair to mention with Hertz. Who wasn't playing? Everybody got hurt this week, it felt like. But they're not doing a lot of block. lock it for him. Okay, just throw it out there. But he still stunk. And, who boy, Josh Allen,
Starting point is 00:20:18 Time Machine. Yes. This is, this is the, the, this is throwing it up to the square body in the playoffs, Josh Allen. You'll never move on from that.
Starting point is 00:20:31 No, no. And apparently neither will he. He threw two of the craziest passes I've ever seen in this game. One of them. Did you see where they had him near the goal line and he just backhand flipped that shit? Yeah. How was that not intentional grounding?
Starting point is 00:20:47 It had to be intentional grounding or a fumble. The only argument on how it wasn't intentional grounding is if it was a fumble. Otherwise, what are we? That's the conspiracy theory right there. It's all things, Josh Allen. It's him, nope. It's not his fault. It's not his fault.
Starting point is 00:21:08 But y'all know what y'all doing. And when I say y'all, I mean it in italic. Y'all know what y'all are doing. They still call him an MVP. We still talking about. Remember how ready everybody was to make him the best quarterback in the league and everything else? Are they still saying that now? I'm asking that sincerely because it feels like a fluid situation.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I bet he is the betting favorite. Ah, I know who I got is the betting favorite. We'll talk about him in a minute. But the Patriots, the Patriots, I don't know if Save their season is the right way to put it, but I think Save their season is the way. the right way to put it. They got a good half out of Drake May. Right. And that interception Josh Allen threw at the end, okay, where he just heaved it. Just, just one minute left. They got all their timeouts. He just threw it up there. Did he forget what color his
Starting point is 00:21:59 team was wearing? Right? There's two white shirts over there. Absolutely no need. Like, full on ridiculous. Why are you doing this? And look, they've cast their lot on the idea that we're just going to live with Josh Allen and whatever he does. But that's not, I don't think that's what they're talking about. Like the idea isn't, and every now and then be a moron. The idea is every now and then take some chances because you can do superhuman things. Right. That was not an example of like I just have so much faith in my arm.
Starting point is 00:22:29 That was a freak out. And what he does do, and this is something I don't believe that people can change if they got it in him. Every now and then he's going to freak out. Every now and then he's going to throw it up there to the square body. That's why the square body comes up. It was some of our first evidence that he's that guy. That was about, what, five, six years ago? It was 2019.
Starting point is 00:22:51 So six and a half. Yeah. Okay. But he's that guy. What guy? That guy. You saw it. Right?
Starting point is 00:23:02 This is going to be the fun part of the year because they fully decided that that's what they're going to do. But he's going to do that. Right? That was, who. I also saw. something too where the bills were like the defense has got to get used to the fact that the stadium so loud don't don't don't don't do that don't do that keep that keep that to yourself yeah that's uh don't don't telling yourself yeah yeah yeah company but now the patriots yeah i think it's fair saying
Starting point is 00:23:29 patriots save their season yes did you watch much of chiefs raiders uh yes i i had that on i watched the vast majority of it i popped in every now and then to san francisco damn there go San Francisco. Didn't get around talking about them again, but we can now and say Denver, not feeling good. Right. Okay. Yeah. Not feeling good because they did a good enough job defensively that if your quarterback is what people keep telling me their quarterback is, they should have had a chance to win that game. And I don't really ever feel like they truly had a chance to win that game. Also, hot tape that I just thought about as I saw it in that game with that big play Kittle made at the end. And I've said this for years, just throwing it
Starting point is 00:24:10 out there. If you gave me the choice of Kelsey and Kittle, I have always been on give me Kittle every single time. Really? I don't think it's, Kelsey is a bit closer to the Jason Witten end of things, and I feel like Kittal is a little closer to Antonio Gates. Big play guy, better blocker. Kelsey is very good. Yes. I'm not calling him Jason Witten. He's much better than Jason Witten. Of course. But Kittles a beast. Kittle is a beast. Kittle is a beast. Kittles been a beast. The big thing I'm saying here is not Travis Kelsey is overrated. Right. And I've learned people take that word very serious.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Very serious. Yeah, yeah. It's a slur. I had no idea. Overrated is a slur to people. But Kittle is underrated. Yeah. That I have always felt.
Starting point is 00:24:58 But anyway, back to that other team, the Buffalo Bills. Are we going to play the roller coaster then let's do it? My man Keon is back out there getting it done. Sounds like the problem of Shaw McDermott when it came to him. Right? Like that sounds like the issue, but that's going to be a wild ride with Buffalo. If this is how it's going to go all year long, hey, I'm looking forward to watching, but we had gotten back.
Starting point is 00:25:22 That's right. Chiefs Raiders. Yes. Sorry about that. I don't know how I would say I felt about the Raiders coming out of that game. I will say this. They felt to me. And a lot of this is just vibes.
Starting point is 00:25:38 And of course, a lot of this is you come into the game with your priors. You know what it feels like when you watch in the game and you don't think a 10. team is good and they always have to overcome the fact that you don't think they're good, even though they getting it done, like they were playing, you know, right there with the chiefs for the vast majority of the game. But then every, the next thing you know, Patrick Mahomes just throws something up soft and high and you're like, oh, somebody's going to catch that. Yes. Right. It never felt like the Raiders were going to win, but it felt like they were losing in that way that they already teamed that has gotten better and just wasn't quite ready
Starting point is 00:26:07 for a game that had the stakes that that game had. For sure. Like, they're not frauds, I guess is the way that I would put it. Their defense looked like it was pretty good and the chiefs weren't getting any pressure. I asked Mina. I was like, so what's the issue here? She's like, no, the Raiders' offensive line is good. Yeah. You know, so good for them. On the other side, our guy, Mahomes is back, dog. Now, obviously there are issues on guys to throw to and we had a dislocated ankle situation and that guy having a career game. Okay, so you guys know me, I don't do like catastrophic injuries. I don't watch them if there's any way that I can avoid looking at a catastrophic injury. I'm going to absolutely pull that off, right?
Starting point is 00:26:44 And I saw what happened to Thornton in that game. It was wild because he caught it and he got up to do his whole first down thing and then he looked down and was like, oh shit, my ankle was hanging off. What a weird injury. Because the last of those catastrophic injuries that I saw like that was Dak Prescott
Starting point is 00:27:02 with a dislocated ankle where he made the play. And then he's on the ground and he's just like, like nobody can tell what the issue is. Yeah. Right? And the same thing happened with Thornton. And the dude's like, yo, yo, what's going on? He's like, bro, look at my ankle.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Oh, whoa. And I have to say, man, I know you was hurt, but don't be telling him nobody to look at nothing like that. Like, I don't wait. Even the people who it's their job? After he did that, man, I'd have waited a couple of days. And I'd have been like, hey, man, you ain't need to tell me to look at it. All you had to do was tell me that it hurt. Like, your word was good enough.
Starting point is 00:27:33 We trust you. I didn't need no verification. Why, I got to look at this. Now they're all out there. You know, it's prayer circle time, right? They're locked up. They're about to get it done. But now the Chiefs are down another guy again.
Starting point is 00:27:45 You know who they're about to go get. Oh, yeah, but he's not going to be ready. They're talking about going to get Tyreek, but Tyreeks's probably not going to be ready for a month. At least. And what's he got left? I mean, but Mahalms looks like that guy again. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:00 I do know that. Mahomes is that guy again. We talked about this a little bit, but the return of the enemy. Yes, it matters. That's a big deal. That bad. about going through a lot, by the way. I feel like we have just completely forgotten.
Starting point is 00:28:17 But his situation is. Haven't mentioned it. I don't. Look, I ain't want to tell that man what he should. It should not be doing or anything as such. But at the same time, he's out there. He's out there. We all cope as we cope.
Starting point is 00:28:32 It's funny, though. They give him the Deshaal-Watson treatment. No. Like, oh, after everything he's been through. By the way, he's been through a lot. Yes. It's just an uncomfortable topic. But if you're giving people credit for overcoming adversity,
Starting point is 00:28:48 I don't know who's overcoming more of it than he is right now. I just don't. Anyway, the Chiefs are really good. They're really good. Kid of Walker is really good. Well, that's the big one, man. I am all here for the reinvestment in the Bell Cow running bank. The dude you give the ball to who runs through people, who runs around people.
Starting point is 00:29:11 there's still, to me, nothing more entertaining to watch in a football game because the running back that does that is actually, to me, like embodying and doing all the things that are why we're here in the first place. You know, like this precision passion game, and basically the idea that the star is the coach, fuck that. The stars are dudes out there. In the running game, that is jimmies and Jows. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:36 You know, you can talk skis, you can talk everything else. That is a jimmies and Joe's situation. put them out front. Oh, yeah, I forgot about not feeling good about it. Jacksonville Jaguars, I think those guys feel good. Feel good. Got an important win there over the Cincinnati Bengals. The shockingly best division in the league is the AFC North,
Starting point is 00:29:56 where every team is over 500, where the Browns are 3 and 1. However, probably 3 and 1 with a minus 14 point differential. You don't see that every day. No. But Lamar Jackson is hurt. It is as shame because he was dealing. He is this old situation with Declan Doyle, the one who daddy I don't like. Apparently he and Lamar got something figured out because Lamar's out there.
Starting point is 00:30:22 Dealing. And by the way, that boy, Snoop Huntley came in there and he was dealing a little bit himself. But dealing. Dealing. And Ryan, this actually points out something you were mentioning. And Doyle is not off that Shanahan McVaytree. He's a Ben Johnson guy. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:39 And I don't, schematically, I don't. don't really know where Campbell and Johnson stuff stems from like off the top of my head, but I don't think they're from that tree. You made a very, you raised an interesting question about the Eagles off Mike that I think is something that's going to be interesting to keep track of with all these teams, which was, why is it that the Eagles always have like a teenager as their offensive coordinator? A teenager and someone, it's the first time they're doing it. Yes. And the answer is, everybody is trying to like move into what the future has become in these schemes. They want these Shanahan schemes. They want these McVeigh schemes. I mean, I guess Ben
Starting point is 00:31:14 Johnson's going to wind up with a tree of his to a degree. All those guys are young. Yes. Like every single one of them is young. McVeigh, for example, clearly has a priority for getting these young guys, which I also think is important for these guys who were young coaches. You kind of need people that you could be in charge of. Yes. Like, Sean McVeigh was a head coach at 30. I wouldn't have listened to him at 30. Of course not. Yeah. I would have done something like that. Right. Right. So so many of these teams, it feels like, I mean, we need to probably go count it to a degree, but they're going to hire these guys like Doyle and everybody else because these are the guys that are- Davis Webb's calling play, right, calling plays for the Broncos.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Yeah, exactly. These guys are going to be the ones that are like on the Vanguard. So they're going to be the ones to call the plays. But what that also means is these teams are going to have a bunch of kids called and plays. How that manifests itself is going to be interesting, where everybody has somebody young calling the plays. I don't have a great answer for it, but I do think that there's something interesting to that. We're going to have like how many of the teams that matter are we going to get to like in the postseason?
Starting point is 00:32:23 And you got somebody 31 years old who hasn't really been doing this very long. Because what other thing that happens is with these guys is if they're any good, they become head coaches. Immediately. You can't, yeah, immediately. You can't keep them. Yeah. Like, because if people want that scheme, they're like,
Starting point is 00:32:36 and we want to bring you in. Yeah, bring me in as the head coach. And we've seen the teams are willing to fire the head coach to bring the offensive coordinator that they want if that's what they have to do. You know, that's going to be a thing. You're talking about people not feeling good. The Houston, Texas, shockingly four, though. I mean, oh, and four.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yes. Slight difference. Yeah. And Stroud wasn't bad in that game. No. That game, they couldn't stop anybody. That's crazy. Their season's over.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Yes. They're cooked. The Titans, look, the Titans was never a thing, okay? But at the same time, did you see the thing happen with Cam Ward? And it doesn't sound like it was his fault. Whatever is going on between him and the media there is super weird. You only have a media go that hard at the quarterback, let alone the young quarterback on a team that nobody expects to be good
Starting point is 00:33:31 with the consent of either coaching or management. I don't know what they are telling people about him. but it's I don't know how that turns around everybody he was a number one overall pick last year the only thing that to me seems to be his saving grace right now is is there a quarterback in this upcoming draft that's so good that you can do a josh rosen type of situation on him because i just i mean it just everything about it seems sour and in a way again i don't think i've ever felt like I've seen anything like this that felt this hour. And he hasn't been good, but what we were just talking about before with Bryce Young, the growth arc on these guys, it feels like we have to
Starting point is 00:34:18 look at that a little bit differently. Now, he's a lot older than Bryce Young was. Right. But we still, I don't know if we can go about looking at teams. It's just so wild how hostile it is. I've never seen anything like that. That's not how American media works ever. No, no, not, especially not where the teams have so much control over. over the media guys. That's, now they did have that one guy that came and asked him that question
Starting point is 00:34:43 and I think they took his press pass away from him. But then we saw more stuff come after. Somebody's telling these guys this is okay. And it's interesting because they have an obvious ownership problem with that team. Like, the only thing worse than Bud Adams being your owner is a second generation Bud Adams situation.
Starting point is 00:35:00 And that's what they've got. Like, this team doesn't look good. The organization doesn't seem to be strong. People around them have been complaining about Amy Strzok for as long. long as I can think of, you know, since she got there, the quarterback is not, the quarterback may be a reflection of an issue, but their issues are grand and they are giant. And it all seems that right now, the face of it is their 20-something year old quarterback who, I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I don't, I don't know what exactly to make of it, but it's bad. It's, and this is the same organization that ran off Mike Vrable. Yes. Gave away AJ Brown and said, no thanks, Derek. Henry. When you put it like that. Last thing I'll say before we get out of here, Ryan mentioned this about we'll never have a good football team in this city. Shout out to the Jets. They had their first interception in 21 games.
Starting point is 00:35:52 And which one of these 30-year-old offensive coordinators are we talking about? That's going to be their head coach next year because their head coach is not going to be Aaron Glenn. The Bears had more first downs than the Jets ran plays. Tyson Baygent was the quarterback. in that game. Let me tell you about a man that is not comfortable with vulnerable emotions.
Starting point is 00:36:15 Did you see the postgame clip of him where, and I get it. Like somebody in the media was going to the well-worn tale of he's from a little bitty town in West Virginia and he talked about how important it would be a guy from West Virginia. And Bejan was like, well, the song is not called West Virginia. He does not seem pleasant.
Starting point is 00:36:33 But he was like, the song is not called West Virginia. It's called something else. That's fine. You know, but as you know, as you know, I'm from a little town, from West Virginia, da-da-da. I will cry if I start talking about this, so don't ask me that again. He said that like twice. Yes.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Like, don't ask me that again. That man is not prepared to cry in front of us. No. He is absolutely not. That's some hard scribble West Virginia shit right there. But it was just, he was so, don't ask me that again. I'm sorry, buddy. I thought you'd be a little happier to be here.

No need for the social media feeds. We got you. Now, if you haven't heard. All right, Beau, if you haven't heard, presented by prize picks, the fever season ended over the weekend,
Starting point is 00:44:00 but the controversy did not on Saturday. The fever's general manager defended the fever fan base after a series of criticisms. Quote, the attacks on our fan base have no basis in reality and they need to stop a special. with members of the media. I'm talking about media who have never been to a game
Starting point is 00:44:14 at Fieldhouse, every organization in the league, every organization direct professionals works, all the way down to youth requeeds have to deal with occasional bad behavior from the spectators.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Bo, what was your reaction to this comment? Boy, she spelled black Twitter wrong. That's what she's talking about. That's what she's talking about. Black people have decided that this is the worst fan environment
Starting point is 00:44:40 that there's ever been. Everywhere they go. And I'm like, here's the thing. I can't speak to whether that's true or not, okay? I am inclined to agree with the people and not with that woman, the general manager. Wow, that sounded awful. That sounded terrible. My God.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Her name is Amber Cox, right? Yes. Okay. I have inclined to believe the people, not Amber Cox. Yes. There are two reasons why. Okay. Shit.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Number one. Did you watch, I think it's called winning time. There's a game time. It was the 30 for 30 about the Knicks Pacers rivalry during the 90s. That was winning time, yes. Well, it was winning time. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:30 One theme of that documentary is the startling racism from Indiana Pacers fans, including a. sign that was held up by a fan. And I can't remember the exact wording, but the poster board had a picture of a noose. And it was like, hang the knicks, string the knicks up. Like something in the lynching family. Yes. Okay. Now, it used to be back in the day when you would bring up something like that that happened 30 years ago. You would say, well, that was a long time ago. That don't work no more. In fact, if that's what it was 30 years ago, unfortunately, now you're you gotta wonder if the shit's worse, right?
Starting point is 00:46:13 Like this isn't, it's not the 60s anymore. No, no, no, no, you can't play that card no more. No. Look around you, watch the news. We'll talk about some of that a little bit later. But anyway, I believe, I don't think all these people are making this up, right? I don't believe that all these women who are in the league are just like jibber jabbering. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:34 When it comes to this, there is an issue with the way that players and other fans, are receiving the fans of the fever. Now, you noticed the woman was very careful. Amber Cox. Amber Cox. Oh, man, I might need to do some introspection. But she was like, her problem, she made it very clear is that it was with people who haven't even been there. So my question for her is, what do you have to say about the people who have been there?
Starting point is 00:47:10 and are saying very similar things. And the answer is, whatever she might say to them, she can't say it in front of everybody. They're in a bind, all right? And this is why I say they're in a bind. And I'm not saying this to absolve her of anything. I'm just saying, let's just be honest about this. I don't know if any of you remember the night of the malice in the palace in 2004.
Starting point is 00:47:33 But if you remember, Bill Walton was on the mic, and I forget who was with him. It might have been John Saunders. I'm not sure who was doing the play-by-play. But the play-by-play team after it happened and the post-game set unanimously chastised the fans for their poor behavior. The villains that night were the fans. And if you read, those guys have all the fun, the oral history of ESPN, everybody went to sleep. And by the time they had woke up, there had been meetings, there had been calls, and it had been determined.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Now, what we're not going to do is get on TV and blame the fans. Blame the customers. The customers. They completely changed the entire tenor of the discussion, and there was no room for anything that was anything other than the players were wrong because you cannot tell the customers it's their fault. Right or wrong, that is not how these things work. And so Amber Cox, Amber Cox is not going to get on the microphone and be like,
Starting point is 00:48:38 well, you know, the problem we got is it's a lot of racist up here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. to do something about it. I don't know what to tell you, man, but it's a lie to them. No, man, that's not on the board in terms of how to handle it. So what are they supposed to do? Because Kelsey Mitchell, given those quotes where she said, you know, it's tough when you don't even know if your fans like you. Your players are saying this, right? Like, that got so crazy to the point where Kelsey Mitchell is getting hell from fans
Starting point is 00:49:06 for playing too well because they interfere him with the Caitlin Clark MVP case. I don't know how many of the people that are responding like that are actual people and how many are bots. But I'm just saying that's in the air in your incredibly online league. This is what it is. Right or wrong. Players and fans believe this is you. And it's the player part that you got to watch out for. Because I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:30 Why would you want to go play there? If you had any other option given this, why would you want to play on that team? The only person that seems to be getting like auxiliary benefits from playing next to Caitlin Clark and her fame is who? Who's getting it? Sophie Cunning. That's the only person that's getting it. So why is the rest of the league and put it in italics the rest of the league? Why they want to go do this?
Starting point is 00:49:56 Why in the world do they want to put up with this? This is, I don't know, I don't know what anybody involved is supposed to do here. Right. This is wild that it's all played out that way. But they better figure it out. Because clearly some things are going on at that stadium and then clearly things are happening online as well. And you not just go tell these people they wrong.
Starting point is 00:50:17 They, oh, well, shit, since you put it like that, I'll change my whole seat. That's not going to work. That's not it. And this whole league has really got to figure out what to do with that because the vibes are bad, man. Like now they're at a place and people talk about this. That's a win for them is now it'll be a lot more about basketball.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Right? But is it? Well, because the fever are out. Like, you shouldn't have a situation where many of your diehard fans as a league find it relieving when one of your up-and-coming stars is out of there. Because right now, as far as it relates to Clark, this is part of the story. Yes. Right.
Starting point is 00:50:57 This is the climb that everybody goes through, right? You're not good enough right now. Your team's not good enough right now. They came up short and didn't shoot well enough. and didn't play good enough defense. That's what people were telling me about when they got put out of there, right? You're supposed to be doing the shooting, and we know you don't come up on the defense. This is the climb.
Starting point is 00:51:18 You're supposed to go into some tunnel or wherever it is and grind it out and come back. Like Wimby is supposed to be doing right now. Exactly. I saw that dude tackling a, tackling dummy. No lie. Yeah, I saw that too. No lie. He mad.
Starting point is 00:51:31 You can barely tell he's lower in his shoulder to the shoulders. That is correct. That is correct. But he gave it his best, right? But no, man, this is, I don't know what anybody involved here is supposed to do because the women of the WNBA should not back off of what their truth is, right? But I ask this question, and I'm asking it somewhat rhetorically, get around, I don't want to put you on the spot because I don't know how close you follow this. That situation that happened with Asia Wilson, does that happen in any other building? Like, does she have that reaction in any.
Starting point is 00:52:06 the other building. Because let's get to an uncomfortable truth here. Where Sophie Cunningham said they didn't suspend her because she's LeBron James of the league. I don't know why people are acting like there's nothing to that. Especially post-2004, you don't get to run up on the customers that close. You just don't. I once saw Antonio Davis get suspended for going in the crowd to get his wife out.
Starting point is 00:52:32 We have decided that something. You can't do it. You can't do it. decision that that is something that you cannot do. She did that and they did nothing. So that means one or two things is true or maybe some combination of them. One, that is the best player in the league and you don't want to have her out for a game three in a best of three series under those circumstances, which would be understandable. Or number two, despite the fact that your investigation said that there was no violation of the code of the code of conduct,
Starting point is 00:53:06 you felt like something was kind of a violation of the code of conduct. Right? But either way, you made a call to let that slide that you did not have to. You could say that part with no judgment. If they had decided to suspend her, I don't think there would have been much leg to stand up. Or just a fine. Right. They could have done, they chose nothing.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Because I don't think they have any idea what to do. But they need to ask themselves, what is it about that building and that team and the people around it? And I don't say that rhetorically. Like they need to get to the bottom of it because otherwise this is ratcheting up. You got a while before next season comes, but all the feelings that surround this aren't going anywhere. In fact, they're only going to get stronger. And so you're going to have a game next year where the a aces come play to fever and what's going to happen?
Starting point is 00:53:51 They're going to try it. They're going to boo her into the ground. And it's going to be whatever that environment is now is going to wind up being worse. And that's going to be the thing that's on TV. And it's going to be just like this. Well, we're talking about everything except basketball. All right. also over the weekend, John Gruden showed up at a Trump rally for an Ohio senator.
Starting point is 00:54:10 He said, quote, I'm from Ohio. My mom and dad are from Cleveland. I was born in Sandusky, and I'm damn proud of it. Bo, what do you, what did you make of John Gruden showing up here? That man was so happy to be somewhere that people were happy to see him. Like, do we know where he lives? Like, is he still living in Tampa? I think he's down in Florida.
Starting point is 00:54:32 He looked in that room. I've been here. Ryan, I don't know if you've had any situation like this, but I imagine it may have happened at some point because white people don't talk about it when it happens to them. But there's nothing quite like what you like. Like when I went to graduate school in California, I went to a little town,
Starting point is 00:54:51 the graduate school in a little town called Claremont. You can look up the demographics of Claremont. John Gruton looked like I did when I would get back to Atlanta. Oh, my God. I don't have to explain anything. Right? Every old of my people, meiente, me inthe. Oh, don't say that to John Gruden. He might have a connoissee. But anyway, John Gruden was so ramped up giving that speech in there. And I don't know how much any of them actually cared. But he was so excited to be in that vast sea of republicanness. Yes. Right? He's, he still think he just going to come back without having to say anything about anything.
Starting point is 00:55:34 And not only that. He won't. wasn't even a good coach. John Gruden's last playoff win was in January of 2003, the Super Bowl. That was the last playoff win that he had. Speaking of a sea of republicanness, Vivek Swammer Swami was there, and you pointed out something to me that happened is that you wanted to bring up. Okay. We got to get our tech up so we could share people.
Starting point is 00:56:07 We'll share. Video of this. So Vivek Ramoswani. Didn't he run for president? He did run for president. Okay. He ran for president a little bit. He went to Harvard.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Pablo refers to him very stridently as a dork. So Vivek is running for governor of Ohio against hashtag white charade. Is Girard of Sherrod? I believe it's Sherrod. I mean, it's charade to me. Right? But anyway, he's running for governor. He has the Republican nomination, Indian cat.
Starting point is 00:56:45 And he's up there at the dais. And I don't, why was that kid up there? I'm not sure. So there's some kid on the stage. And the kid looked like he had to be like seven or so. I would say, yes, between seven and nine. Yeah, right. Somewhere in seven and nine.
Starting point is 00:57:02 And it looked like the vet got the bright idea to like let the little homie say something on the microphone. But the microphone was up too high. And so he's like, no problem. I'll pick you up. And he went to go pick that kid up. And I want to be fair to the fact. He bent his knees.
Starting point is 00:57:19 He did everything that he was supposed to do. He braced his core. He did. He engaged his core. That is exactly what he did. And apparently that little boy has swallowed a brick. Because he went to go pick him up. And oh, he couldn't get him up.
Starting point is 00:57:32 And he kept trying. Right? Lazy. He kept going. But the kids got on like a shirt. So he started sliding. And he couldn't get him all the way up. And he goes, oh, big guy, right?
Starting point is 00:57:43 And the thing he didn't get was what he needed to do was he needed to start low. And then once he realized it was going to take too much, he'd stop and be like, whoa, big fellow, you're going to have to wait. Right? Like he needed to make a joke about it right there. But instead, no, he tried to power through. It was like his girl was watching. And he was a shame. He tried to power through.
Starting point is 00:58:06 That's the kind of shit that loses. elections. You need to understand that. What was it? Michael Dukakis with the joint. The Howard Dean's dream. Never heard for Howard Dean again. They heard that man say a word. I know he had other jobs. I see him. They put that man in front of a camera after. He was on top going into that primary. And all he did was get excited. This dude right here looked like half a man. It was so bad that the next day his account put up on Twitter a picture of him holding his son with the caption, Happy 8 month anniversary. because he needed to show us holding a child.
Starting point is 00:58:41 Sir, that was a baby. You could not pick up that child. It's okay. That boy looked heavy. You just didn't. You don't know your limitations. That's not a good look for a politician. I'm surprised that boy,
Starting point is 00:58:57 White Shrad, eight pulled up somewhere with like a kid on his back. Had won any charm. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right? Or just in the gym. Just thought, like, that's what Vecan need to do. Beck needed to show that he was just throwing it up, right? Getting ready for the next time.
Starting point is 00:59:11 He learned his lesson from this happening to him. All right. And finally, there is an online trend of people showing their nine most important albums to them. Bo, you posted yours. Wanted to give you the opportunity to discuss it now. Sure. Though I did see after I posted this that somebody said, we've had enough of your music takes.
Starting point is 00:59:33 And, you know, just some things that I can't say to women. So anyway, these are the nine I did. Now, I needed people to understand that the nine I did were not my nine favorite, they were albums that had different roles at different places in my life, right? So the first one was Bill Withers Live at Carnegie Hall, because that is the Jones Family Road Trip staple. Oh, interesting, yeah. If I had to associate an album with my dad or with family, it's that one.
Starting point is 01:00:06 Like, anytime we're on a road trip and it's time to bring it in, the song would be like, home stretch is the heart and cold baloney version on that record. So that's how that got on there. I had Tribe Carquest Midnight Marauders, because as I recall, that is the first album that I bought with my own money, you know, and it's also, it is a banger. Outcast Southern Play, Let's Caledatac Music, because that was the first album I'd ever heard of and was like,
Starting point is 01:00:31 oh, this feels like relatable content. And the reason it felt like relatable content was the Houston that people rapped about at that time was not the Houston that I lived in. That's not a class thing. That's a geography thing. Southside in Fifth Ward is basically where all this is coming out of. Places I never had very much reason to ever be. The parts of Atlanta that these cats were talking about, I knew. I heard streets and things that I was aware of on there. And I was like, oh, okay. And it bangs.
Starting point is 01:01:00 Only built for Cuban links just because it jams. Right. right um side of the times because that's that's the first prince album that i really really like super deeply explored on my own like i remember when i bought it i think i was in like 12th grade or something like that and that was the first one that myself i like really really got to and it's like oh okay now i get it um it takes the nation of millions to hold us back i remember when i was a freshman in college the source put out their 100th issue and in their 100th issue and in their 100th issue they had lists of the top 100 albums, top 100 singles, and they did voting on what the best of everything was,
Starting point is 01:01:39 and a time that people have forgotten. The number one album of all time there and in many other places was it takes a nation of millions to hold us back. And so I remember after I had seen that, and my brother used to jam it a lot, but I didn't pay that much attention. After I'd seen that, I remember, I went to the record store and I saw the CD and I picked it up, and I would just never forget, run and brain the noise. And when he hit that, never baddered than bad because a brother is maddered, that mad at the fact that's so corrupt like a senator's soul on a road but you treat it like soap on a rope because the beats and the lines are so dope and I was like oh that's what you guys were talking about so we got that burning by the whalers that is I put that there because I would never put legend here because I'm not that kind of guy however I admit we listen to a lot of legend
Starting point is 01:02:24 on road trips also but burning is the tracks on burning I just remember my dad had burning on the take two. Like the tracks on burner are the ones that jumped out is like my intro and the bob stuff. Juvenile 400 degrees because that album more than any other expanded me as a more open-minded person in terms of what I what I could and what I could not say was dope for whatever reason it was because I remember the first time I saw that high video and them dudes with them gold teeth and everything else and it sounded like he was mumbling. I'm like what what are we talking about here? Like is this what we're really doing? I ran that album was like this is the most incredible thing I have ever heard and these dudes is rapping right so like my very heavy east coast lean and sensibilities at
Starting point is 01:03:04 that time it wasn't like there was no southern records that i was into but it put me in a place to have to actually do some revisiting on some of them and be like okay you might have been being a hater um and uh david boy the rise of fall the ziggie stard us and the spotters from mars because that's the first that's the first bowie album i really got into it's not the best one but i still think it's really interesting and i still remember like getting to like toward the end of moon age day and being like, oh, that's what's going on here. Gotcha. So I could do another nine.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I could do nine more. I could do nine on themes or whatever it is. But that was how I picked that nine. And number 10 would have been Babyface tend to love her. But I just didn't only had nine spaces. I just couldn't find a way to work. All right, Bo. Let's get to voicemails.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Speaking of Babyface. Hey, Bermani. This is Dylan from New York City. I've listened to you for a long time. So it's a pleasure to connect. I've long really enjoyed your music takes in addition to your sports stuff. You've helped get me into Prince and Isley brothers and some really other great artists. So I've been enjoying the discourse around Babyface.
Starting point is 01:04:17 I'm a little agnostic about him in particular, but I was wondering if there is a white songwriter equivalent to how you feel about Babyface, someone who is either critically loved or popularly love that you just don't rock with. so we'd love to hear your perspective on that. Thanks so much. Okay, so songwriter, that's a little bit more difficult for me to, like, give you the direct analog to. But I will tell you someone that is revered in his field, similar to the way Babyface is revered as a songwriter,
Starting point is 01:04:55 that I don't find myself being nearly as excited about, even though every now then he hissed to Mark, and that's Eric fucking Clapton. That's Eric Clapton as a guitar player, not here for it. And it don't even have to do with the xenophobia situation. He could have the same politics as me and I would feel the same way. I just don't feel it when he gets to go. And there's a whole gang of guitar players that I throw out there that I find to be more interesting than listening to Eric Clapton.
Starting point is 01:05:22 And that's, again, that's not to say he can't never hit it. That's not to say like the stuff for cream is not good. He is, to me, another case of you surround him with some beast, he'll do okay with the beast. You ask him to carry the beast. Nah, no, not, not really. That's not, that's not going to get you that. And people really like that wonderful tonight song. And that's a baby face shit right there.
Starting point is 01:05:44 If you want to be perfectly honest. Like that, that, that, that right there. So yeah, a lot of people get mad at me with the Eric Clapton one, too. Yeah, that's the best one I'll get you. All right, here's our next one. What's up, Beau? This is your boy, Ants, from the DMV. I was first by being born into a family that loves the Miami Dolphins,
Starting point is 01:06:09 even though we live nowhere near Miami. And it's been a long, long, long lifetime of disappointment. The Tua, Airek, Daniels, seasons, you know, got me living a little bit. You know, I was excited about the future and then the collapse. It just brought me down, Beau. I don't think I have another rebuild in me. You know, music don't sound as good. Sun don't shine as bright.
Starting point is 01:06:43 Food doesn't taste as sweet. And my question to you is someone that was successfully able to get off that narcotic is, should I just rip the Band-Aid off or should I slowly just kind of pull away? Because, like I said, I don't have another rebuild in me. I don't know what to do. So please, help your boy out. By the way, baby face is the man. Of all the people for y'all to ride for.
Starting point is 01:07:18 Ride for. Anyway, the Dolphins. The thing about the Dolphins is easy to forget is that from 1971 to 1984, they went to the Super Bowl five times. I want to say three quarterbacks who won MVP or at least first team all pro. And then they've just been whatever. Like they are not, the difference between the dolphins and the Raiders is scant. The Raiders have won us. I mean, they've been to one.
Starting point is 01:07:57 They've been to a Super Bowl suit and the Dolphins have. The difference is, though, the worst of the Raiders has been the worse than the worst of the dolphins and has been like more of a consistent bottom. But they are teams that were venerable for. franchises that you're of a certain age and you have no idea that this was the case, right? So what you need to do is, I mean, yeah, just stop. Like, you can make the decision. Just stop.
Starting point is 01:08:24 Take some, what you need to do, it took me a while before I found the right one. Just take some time and look around, date some teams. And if somebody really kind of jumps out to you, like something they got going, go ahead and like see what it is that they got for you. And I'm going to tell you now, it's going to come with some up. and downs. Like right now, not happy with my choices. But I'm there and I'm going to stick with it. And you can do the same. But my Jones fan rehab is. We need to start this. We need to start. I tell you, I bet if we could like set up a one day workshop, I bet we could do it. Man, if
Starting point is 01:08:55 I see, game theory was still on, that would be an amazing field sketch. Yes. It's how to quit your team. All right. Here's our last one. Hey, this is Jake in Durham. Love the show. Been a big fan for years. One, one. One favorite things is where people call in and tell the stories about the Nate people the white people that have names that you're surprised they're white and you and Dominique were talking about Liam Cohen and I got wondering I've never heard of a black Liam before and I've heard of a lot of liens and so I just to make sure I searched and Leam was apparently the most popular boys name but all the
Starting point is 01:09:35 leams I can think of Gallagher Nielsen Cohen, they're white. But I'm pretty white myself. So, have you ever heard of a black Liam? I'll hang up and listen. Have a good one. No, I haven't heard of a black Liam, but it's only a matter of time.
Starting point is 01:09:54 There's a whole run there that started really like in like the mid-2000s where black people started giving their kids these clueless ass names, like trying to white it up a little bit. Like they're not going to have to go in for that job interview eventually. You know what I mean? But it ain't Ain't no white people ever did that we ain't going to find no way to adopt or throw into our shit at some point or some fashion. So I have not, I have not met that.
Starting point is 01:10:15 It was a long time, by the way, before I realized that Liam was short for William. I did not realize that until sometime in the last like two or three years, you know. I will say this, though, there hasn't been like a, I guess Liam Neeson is the only one, but like a Liam that was cool enough to like really cross over to where we might want to jump on that. Like Liam Gallagher. Not that guy. No, no, no. In fact, he's the opposite.
Starting point is 01:10:38 In fact, if Liam Gallagher comes over here, we're going to fuck him up. We'll hurry what he'd been saying, you know. But ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us here on The Right Time. We do this four days a week. Ryan Brumley handling things behind the scenes. Thank you, sir.
