It is that time of week where we have a guest join us. Coming to us live from Chicago, Illinois. And I can admit, me and my man went to the sphere. in Vegas and watch the Wizard of Eyes together. Jason Gough was going on. So, what's had to both? So immediately, this morning I was like, I wonder if I will stay away from the Wizard of Oz experience.

No, no. We won't. Or let it build the way it did on a cab ride. No, no, no. Oh, my God. So the thing was, man, like, wanted to go check out the Spear, okay? And so me and golf are riding in Summer League.

We talked about it. Yeah, we about to go to the Thomas and Mac Center to watch Summer League. and we passed by the sphere and we talk about it and it reminds me of like when I was in college and somebody was trying to break the seal

about enjoying the golden girls. You just didn't necessarily want to go first but then once you did you realize the whole crew was down and I was like, hey man, you know, they show the Wizard of Odds at the sphere I was thinking about going, me too! Boom!

So we have, let me tell you this man, they charge a hundred and some dollars for the goddamn Wizard of Oz at the sphere. And those was the not expensive tickets. I mean, they were not as expensive. As expensive, right, relatively, right? I read certain moments in a, a budding friendship where you realize, oh, this, that's your man.

Yeah. Because when you sent it to me, I was like, okay. And, you know, like, I wanted to see what was next. I know you got a lot of bread. You know, I'm sitting in like, all right, what we do next? And then we're there. And you know me. I, well, you didn't know me, but I told you I'm not a big fan like roller coasters.

and shit like that. So immediately I'm like, ooh, if he, you know, if we out and we just told the cabby and the cab was like, yeah, y'all should do that. Oh, God, the cab driver was like so into it. She was like, yeah, so I'm like, take an edible and sit down. Oh my God, it's so good. I forgot to send her a text and let her know how it went. So to me, the pressure was being put on from that moment because I'm like, is it a roller coaster

vibes? Because I'm thinking the sphere. It's going to be all around. It's surrounding us. It's going to be like a wild ride. Next thing you know, boy, I went down to the hotel lobby, grabbed that drive. me real quick. I'm like, no, no, no, no, I'm not going to let Bowes hunting something dollars go to waste. No, no, no, no, we out here. And then we sat down and it was the

Wizard of Oz. Steep viewing. You know what I'm saying? Had the old Comiskey Park kind of, you know, 300 sectioned nose leave. But it was okay. And the best part is seeing the people who did the research like you did. So shout out to you. I appreciate this. Hey, man. All good. So yeah, we did that last hour and saw, so we had a moment here. I hated when we do the show before the show. We almost did the show before the show. Golf can't help himself. Golf can't help himself. Golf, you bring something up.

Golf ready to do the show. You are. You're the guy that like you get excited. I get excited, man. I get excited. Right. So you get excited. It's like, yo, you got to stop.

You got to stop. You got to stop. Okay. So there's a wild NFL story right now that is actually wilder than I realize that it was. And I just want to get to the baseline level of wild off the top. We'll talk about LeBron and other stuff later. But this here right here. Okay.

So we got news. Was it? Sunday. that Kyle Shadahan had been in a terrible car accident. We're talking broken ribs. We're talking severe concussion. He's still recovering from the concussion. But the important detail, the accident we learned about on Sunday,

it didn't happen on Saturday. It happened 11 days prior. and somehow we did not find out about this until the day that we found out. 11 days, one of the 10 most famous people in your region, okay? Like a name that everybody knows where you at, one of the few unifying things around there, the San Francisco 49 is, the head coach doesn't get into. a fender bender, right? He didn't even get caught for a DUI.

Maybe that, no, actually, I don't know how that slips through to cracks. He got fucked up in a car accident, right? Things where there must be public records. And nobody reported this. The 49ers got to tell us about this. And what level of shenanigans are we talking about? Okay, because to me, and you tell me if I'm wrong, and look, you work in a city, right?

Like what I mean by that is, you work in a city when not just a bunch of media, but a particular stripe of media. It's some go-guillus up where you at. Can you imagine the circumstance under which 11 days passed and Ben Johnson having broken bones and a severe concussion doesn't get out? Not a chance, not a chance,

because that means a hospital, you ain't got nobody at the hospital, You ain't got nobody on the police force. Or if you do, Kyle's been your man. Kyle's, you know, helped you out or John Litt. I remember when, shout out to Buggy, Lance Briggs, got into a one-car accident on the expressway, late night in Chicago and left the ride.

People knew about that joint an hour and a half later, an hour later. And that's a, you know, a pro-bo linebacker. I think dude was, you know, on the cusp hall of fame, but that's my bear's bias. We knew about that immediately. This is, we talk about John Lynch, right?

Because, you know, he's the guy, he's the architect. That's Kyle Shanahan's organization, seemingly, and has been for a while. So for this to happen, it was, there are two things that are so quiet that they're loud. For it to happen and us, you know, to be in the relative sphere of news, no sphere, pun intended here, sphere of news of bad accidents in the media, like immediately you think of the recent one that you heard of his Matt Miller losing an arm. So when I hear really bad car accidents, the antenna goes up and then, oh, this wasn't 72 hours ago?

This wasn't 40. Like, who? If it's that quiet and that bad, then you come out and say, hey, man, roll over, something happened. But if it's quiet and bad and something happened and nobody's still talking about it, like now you got dudes on the internet, on social media, who are now fighting. about covering up for certain people and making sure the relationships stay pure. You got like, you know, Florio and Glazer sitting in the shots to each other.

Like, this is, it makes you wonder, after all the Athletic and Diane Rusini stuff and Mike Vrable, it makes you wonder, like, how close is too close? And is that happening on a different scale in the NFL than it is on any other level than any other sport? So here's why I'm inclined to believe that they're, There are absolutely some measure of shenanigans at play. I don't know exactly what the shenanigans are, but here's why I believe that there are definitely shenanigans at play and that this is simply the beginning.

Like every now and then, you come across the story, for example, when they said that Tiger Woods was seriously injured in a car accident in his driveway, I was like, no, no, no, you can't build up enough speed to be seriously injured in a car accident in your driveway. we're going to find out something else. And then obviously we found out something else, right? Here's my thing with this.

As severely injured as Shanahan was in this accident that happened on July 14th. We are recording this on July 27. So who's to say by the time the streets get this, who's to say some other information don't come out, right? he had that concussion and he had all those broken bones. And in between the 14th and the 25th, they knew that he had a bunch of broken ribs, right? They knew that he was messed up as he was. Which is to say, they knew that either, A, he was not going to show up to the press,

conference or the first day of training camp or B, he was going to show up in that motherfucker looking like Wiley Coyote or somebody, right, with the neck brace on, with crutches, with the shit wrap around his head. You know what I mean? Or I'm shit ahead. For all I know, he might be in traction. Like, you knew that it was going to be one of those things.

I guess I'm saying all that to say, you knew that by the time training camp came, you were going to have to have to explain what was going on, right? Getting still, you instead of getting out in front of this early, hey, Kyle was in a car accident, it could have been worse. Thank God he's still here. And we'll have more information when, you know, we begin training camp, right? No, they didn't do that.

They literally were like, we're not going to say a word until we have no other. option. And I don't know about you, brother, but when I've not had an explanation until there was no other option, it's because I was desperately hoping there would be another option because it was some shenanigans at play on one level or another. You would hope that things, the issue and Yahoo did some of this reporting, too, they made the statement on Saturday, and then a minute later, the national NFL guy makes a statement, and the report is out. And then another minute later, the local guy for that network makes a statement and then puts the report out. So what you're hoping here is, one, you're hoping that Kyle is okay, you know, hoping that there weren't anybody, wasn't anybody else involved in this situation?

That's first. And then you get to, all right, why did this need to be covered up? And two, how much stuff doesn't get out because you got control over, and this is the conversation that, you know, we all knew was going to have to be had about the NFL network and the ESPN merger, right? Like, this is it. Like, PR versus journalism. Are you looking at, are you a PR arm or are you, hey, these are the stories that the people who, consume this and invest in this product should know about, right? Speaking truth to power, that whole thing.

If you got it like that and you could flex it that brazenly, 10 days is not, it's unconscionable in a non-social media news environment. And that's what we grew up in. We grew up in the next day, you knew that, you know, somebody was going to be talking about it or, you know, Bernie Litzigone was going to be writing a column about, or this person was gonna, like, I knew, you know, I knew certain people were going to be all over these things. And as we have gotten further and further away from that and more access is involved with social media, people had, like, nobody's got a screenshot.

Nobody's got a camera. Like, well, you know the shit that you got to shut down to keep something like this quiet? Well, like, I think there's, I think there's the access question, right? Which, by the way, is a level of shenanigans. Right? Like that, like that, like that, like the access question is. Multi-layered shenanigans. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like that's a level of shenanigans. What Kyle Shaddenhan was or was not doing, potential level of shenanigans? Because there's, it's irresponsible for me to say the examples that I have that make

me think more of what it might be when there is a car accident. But car accidents can mean many things is simply the point that I will make, right? But I think there's also, this is perhaps a structural institutional question about journalism and just how many people are there to do the job. And I say that because in this way, yeah, there's the ESPN don't want to lose access, you know, or the NFL network doesn't want to lose access. Or I would even go so far as to say an institution like the athletic, which only does the sports, right, doesn't want to lose access.

Hey, man, this is a Metro desk story, right? Like this is the story for the people who every day go look at those reports just hoping to see that maybe, just maybe somebody famous got popped. Right? Yeah. Like, that's the question. I can't believe. Nobody gave this to TMZ. Just be worth some good money to them.

And that's the thing. Either, well, not either. Somebody's really good at their job. Put it like that. Somebody is really good at their job. in the bay as a fixer. There you have it. Just to be clear.

That job. Yeah. Somebody make sure that, hey, outlets, you know, if something comes across your desk, this is the bread that we got for you. And I'm not speaking of this situation right now, but I'm talking about like, generally, we know about these things and we hear about these things where it's like, all right, you go, like you said, you go to TMZ, you go to this place, you go to this place, you go to the local paper. Hey, hey, you know, I've been giving you news for years. Hey, if something comes across your desk concerning my guy and my guy and my guy. girl or whoever, this is how much bread will be on the table for you when it comes back out. Oh, by the way, I got to call the hospital because if you got concussion, this ain't,

this ain't old school Godfather days when you got the doctor just pulling up to, or you may just have the doctor pulling up to the crib. Like that's other, you talk about shenanigans. Yeah. How far are you willing to go to make sure that this 10 days gets, gets completed? You also got to call five-o. Do you have to? Because five-o got to.

Five-O has to pull on the scene for this. 5-0 has to do a report. But when 5-0 pull up, you know, blast and bang, bang, bang, not a gang. Well, yo, that's all that. Now, that's the thing that I feel like, especially. You don't mean police officers love football? Well, no, I was about saying, especially in these situations where the team is not in the city-city, but is in one of the smaller ones.

And I didn't check exactly like the municipality that Kyle got caught up in. But the city, that might as well be a college town, wherever they got the facility at, for the most part, that right there, that's a college town, you know, they can, you know, but here's the thing. As, as the University of Georgia will tell you, not all college towns are the same. Now are they? Right. Some of them sent you to jail. I was astounded when I got down to Atlanta and found out that the University of Georgia and Athens, the football players and the speeding issues, don't really go the way you would think it would go if you watch these cliche-ass movies or you go to any. You go to any,

any other SEC powerhouse maybe like they get done. Man, it's like, hey, you were doing 51 and a 50 home boy. It's time for you. I don't care if you're starting on Saturday. You know, bring your ass down to a locker. It was like when James got caught up at Florida State and the obvious conclusion that many drew was that, you know, the local hometown police was coming through for the football program.

Let me tell you who didn't feel that way. Football players. They were like, what are you talking about? Maybe try to tell us. I thought it's in jail all the time. Now, who knows, right? But I'm just saying, like, not every place is just like, cool, I got you. We'll just let this slide.

I don't know what's going on there, but I tell you what I didn't know is going on there. The interim coach for the 49ers, while we wait for Kyle Shanahan is, and this is where golf almost did the show before the show, and I had to make him stop because I didn't want to ruin this energy because I didn't understand what he was talking about and then I figured out what he was talking about. And then I was like, no, we got to stop. The interim coach is a man named Chris Forrester. And golf starts explaining that the interim coach is the coach who got caught with some cocaine. And I have no idea what golf. I was like, but golf say, but golf say something, it's correct. Right. Like golf is a dude that.

that he has his information lined up. So he said it's some coach that got caught up with cocaine. And I'm like, dude, I don't know anything about what you're talking about. And I'm like, but wait a minute, the only story I can think of involving a coach getting caught up with cocaine was that white man who was the offensive line coach in Miami. And wasn't he dealing with like some thicked out black girl? Right.

And I can't remember if she was a stripper or like a pro. But it was, she had a very. very Miami job. I just, I just put it there. Community services. Yeah, yeah. He got caught, like, didn't he get caught snort and blowing the drive-through line or something? And then they found out that he was like in the office, had her on like FaceTime and was snort and blow, talking about I wish you was here. And it's this guy.

And look, I understand that that happened nine years ago. But he's worked his way back to being a head coach in the NFL. even if he's only a head coach for a couple of days. Though as I saw somebody put on Twitter, it's interesting about concussion. NFL, by the way, the only place where people come back for a concussion after like two, three days.

But they say 10% of people suffer severe concussions and they fine in a week. And then there's 10% of sub-servic concussions and they're not fine in a year, right? We don't know where in this continuum Kyle Shanahan is going to go. But as long as Kyle Shanahan is out,

this man who is most famous for all the things I just told you is an NFL head coach. And golf can't answer my question, but maybe some of the rest of you can. And maybe you need to call with some voicemails. They're going to infuriate us, but we need to hear it. Just how good is it to be white? My God, the fact that he could get any other job,

any other job, let alone work in his way up to the time. He only had to sit out for one year. He's been with the 49ers since 2019. Yeah, clean your name up. And I want to go back to something that you mentioned, and I'm going to take umbrage with it, Joe. You said caught. To be caught, someone has to say you did something

and then present you with the evidence. Chris Forster, and listen, man, shout out to the fellas out there who can't turn their horny down. Chris Forster sent a, a video, not just to FaceTime, hey baby, let's do this, you know, line together. Let's get, you know, let's take it back to the 80s and 70s. No, no, no. I'm going to send you a video in the office on the desk with the rolled up dollar bill because I'm a real player. You know what mean? Like this ain't, this ain't no new money here. Roled up dollar bill snorted the line and

then told her, I wish I was doing this off of you. I wish you were here. Like we're talking about a man who is true to the game, a romantic. Okay, this ain't caught. You know what I'm saying? This is for the love of the game type vibes right here. You don't what I mean? Ways you can get caught. Either doing something outside of a relationship you're supposed to

or just doing something illegal. For he went to push-shisty Gucci main route of bringing cameras to the crime. And not only does he get to Laylo do his thing. I'm sure he's an exceptional unit coach, a position coach, wherever he's at. I'm not even sure that. I'm just sure he got peoples, right? Kyle Shanahan, you know, you rock and roll. Hey, man, San Francisco was the scene of the crime.

I was in Miami last time. That's the other thing. I think this was a San Francisco domestic product that he was going after in that video. So you come back to the spot, you know, your family like, hey. No, he was in Miami when that happened. I noticed, but it was the thing was in San Francisco. Like what he wanted was in San Francisco.

Right. Yes. Yes. So that's what I'm saying. You're feeling like Big C back on his. You know what it is when Pookie come to the family union. You got a job. Hey, man, he got a job.

He's doing well, right? Like Big C. Hey, Big C doing well. He put that, he put that buggy shit behind him. You know what I mean? Don't worry about the big booty brugs in the bay. We ain't even got to worry about. All right, he got a job in the Bay.

Everything would be cool. Now all of a sudden, you're talking about pressure. To my man who ain't shown that he can really, you know, engage with pressure the right way, your coach break three ribs, his nose, his hand, and an accident that nobody want to talk about. All of a sudden, I got to be the head coach of a squad whose window is closing by the day. Man, Chris, hey, Big C, you know, if don't nobody love you, we love you because it's going to be a ride. Because that's the other thing. He has to hear, like, certain things you think are buried.

He has to hear about this now for the next, what? Few weeks of training camp. I don't know. That sounds like only me and you figuring it out. And I just pulled up an article and it's not the headline, but it's the in the URL. Coach snorting assistant coach Chris Forrester gets job with 40-nighters. And hold on.

I want to make sure people understand that I believe that, like, you know, you got to have a path back for people. And Kyle Shanahan said in 2020, when they gave him, him this job. He started off. Kyle looked out for him because he used to be the line coach for watching what Kyle was there. And he said, we're trying to ease him back in. I understand how big a problem he did have. I also understand what he's doing and committing to fix their problem. We're trying to give him a chance to get back on track. He did something extremely stupid. Since then, he's hit rock bottom. He went to rehab for 60 days. And then he was at a 90 patient

out a day outpatient rehab. And for the last two years, he's been in a 12-step program. And look, Kyle, Kyle doesn't come through for the brothers too, you know what I mean? So like, we got a, you know, we got to get. No, no, he's doing it. And listen, it's respect. It's just, if I'm him like, hey, Kyle, why would you throw me in the wrinkle like this? Yeah, yeah. Like now, all of a sudden it's like, all, you know, hey, we all, hey, you know, you know,

you know, you know, addiction is a daily battle for people, right? Putting the screws to me now, though. Yeah, yeah, no, no, no. I'm just, look, I'm just, he, he, he came all the way back. Just want to be over here teaching a bucket step. Yeah, and by the way, apparently he wasn't the one that got caught snort in the drive-through line. That was somebody else. No, no, no, he's the desk dude.

No, no, I thought he was the, I thought he was the desk dude and the drive-in dude. I forget who the drive-in dude was. My bad, I don't mean-you-courts you got your corks-noisse. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got them. I got them mixed up. Also, he was sending that video to a woman named Kiowna, Tijuana with a K. Listen, listen.

Yeah, hey, man, look, that man knows how to talk across the aisle. Yeah, we know the vibes. Come on, man. Yeah, he's out here listening to Rick James' Fying Desire. I want to know, did he get down like that before we got to Miami? Because I don't see him catching Miami turn into the, you see some interested white men with some interesting sisters just randomly at the icebox cafe. Faye on the beach.

That's just, what seems clear to me is that there's more. And we know that even a little bit of the more is they put Coach, Coach Kane in charge of the shop until Kyle Shanahan comes back when he comes back, if he comes, I'm just telling you. I don't,

Shoot was like the most aggressive defenses are the ones that rush four, drop seven, and just go get people, right? Those great Miami and Florida state defenses of the past, rushing four, dropping seven.

But Dan's point was there's no more valuable ability in football than the ability to get pressure with four people. They might be able to get it with three. they might be able to get it with two. Remember when the Eagles destroyed the Chiefs in that Super Bowl, it looked like they were sending 10 people. They were only sending four
