I'm inclined to believe you are a hater.
NFL is back, man.
By the way, for those of you, you know, I guess all y'all,
just in case you didn't know,
we're going to be doing some Sunday content every now and then
when the weekend is big like that.
So you can check out what we did on Sunday.
You didn't know about it already.
I like you talked about how people should know,
like we didn't decide this weekend.
Yeah.
Like, yeah, like we didn't decide Sunday morning.
Sunday morning.
specifically, but I just want to put them up on game
because I don't know, maybe they didn't see it in the feed
or whatever it is.
You know, give them a little something.
Now, could you have let that slide, Ryan?
Yes.
Yes.
Totally was on the board.
It had the option.
I could have.
I guess you call that producing.
That's on me.
All right.
So NFL is back.
Good for all of us.
I mean, I just don't think now, granted, Ryan, we did do that.
We did do work this summer.
we just didn't do work this summer the way we used to do work during the summer,
like it's our new approach to the summer.
So it hadn't been the scraping the bowl for content that it had often been for us in
previous summers.
That being said, the NFL gives.
It gives you guys something that you care about.
It gives us stuff to talk about.
Like, it's a win for everybody.
But I'm going to tell you right now, I'm in a really weird space as somebody who lives in
New York City.
The Giants and the Jets both won on Sunday.
And that is the first time that both of them have opened.
in the season with a win. Ryan, do you know since when?
It's got to be at least 10 years.
2009.
A long time ago.
Yes, which is to say that happened 17 years before Mark Sanchez went ape shit
and wilded up getting stabbed and he didn't even notice it.
Because we can't forget that that happened, guys.
I'm like, put that trial.
Did he plead out yet?
I don't know.
But if it's a trial.
I think there was an update that he like dropped some of the charges or something while you're, while we were on vacation.
I put that shit on TV.
I want to watch.
My God.
Anyway, I've been here.
This is my 10th football season here.
I think Ryan's saying for you.
We got here at the same time.
Our 10th football season, there's been one good team out of the two.
Now, I want to be clear.
I don't think the Jets are good.
I think they played the Titans.
Right, before I came in here, I was on ESPN,
and Grayboro was talking about, he had a Jets fan,
and he said, that's the first time he could remember
watching the Jets be decisively better than the other team.
And what an indictment of the Tennessee Titans.
Right, but anyway, the Giants played the Cowboys on Sunday night football,
which I got to be honest, man.
I thought that was a really cynical decision by NBC.
You're just going to go New York versus the Cowboys, huh?
Just try to just get the number up, huh?
That's all we going to do.
Okay, cool.
I wound up actually being somewhat glad that they did.
And the reason was, I am a Jackson Dart skeptic.
I am not a Jackson Dart fan.
And again, some of this energy around the Giants reminds me of when Charlie
White first got that job with the Notre Dame.
And it was like Brady Quinn and Jeff Samarja,
and it would be both of them doing all the interviews,
and the people loved it.
Yeah, you feel me.
With the poor decision makers,
with Dart and Skiddle, this is a, like,
I don't like how it feels.
However, Jackson Dart looked good on Sunday night.
He looked like, I thought,
people got themselves a little bit too hype
about him last year. I just didn't
think that he was actually
in function that good on top
of the fact that like
if he was a child,
he would have to wear a helmet at the mall.
Stop banging your head
against the wall, man.
You know? Is he going to be the first
QB? I guess maybe Tua,
but is he going to be the first QB of a guardian
cat? Yeah, you got to put on the big hat.
I mean, I don't know exactly believe
they let him out there without the big hat.
Yeah, to protect himself.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, look, what's that boy said?
I don't know why they keep sending me to the tent.
I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, hey guys.
Something's not great here, but he looked really good.
Like he looked poised.
They still call plays that, like, it was a lot of designed run for him.
Or like, it goes one way and then it comes the other way.
And he ain't holding the ball like in the passing hole as he goes right.
He's got it like tucked in like he's in Ms. Smith.
And I'm like, guys, are you just operating under the assumption that we're here for a good time,
not a long time?
But he seemed to get out of bounds a little better.
Like, I mean, look, he's going to miss three, four games.
I feel like we can write that down.
But if it's anything like it was in that game,
they're going to be a pretty good 13 out of him.
The counterpoint to that obviously is the Cowboys defense looked a lot like to make a wish
foundation at some points.
Like, they, it's like they got.
some dudes that I wonder, does this
ever happen? I need to ask Dominique
where like guys are in the huddle
and like the play has been called
and then they get out there and they're like, shit,
what did he say to play? I hope it.
Oh, damn. I was
supposed to be there.
That's all me. My bad, I thought
she said something else.
Just moments. Like, why is that
why is that guy running butt-necked
open right now?
It's not like the Giants are
throwing out a bunch of great weapons out there.
or reason Odo Beckham still made the team.
Wow, that is, I had forgotten that that happened.
Let me tell you two things that have been humbling,
and I mentioned this because these two guys are in that draft class.
I heard during the broadcast of Bill's tight,
Bill's Texans, and we'll talk more about that game a little later,
but I heard the phrase the old veteran Judevian Clowney.
And if you have seen O'Dell Beckham,
that is not, that does not look like the spry, youthful chap that was making
what heading it catches back of the day.
I'm like, damn, y'all are old.
Like, oh, oh, yes, yes.
Like, O-L-D-O.
But the Cowboys didn't have really much of any offense to speak of, right?
Like, this is, ugh, ugh, ugh, I need the Cowboys.
The Cowboys being good are not just good for business.
They're good for our sanity because we're going to talk about them.
Correct.
I'd at least like it to be an enjoyable experience.
Right.
Give me something to do on that.
Like the Cowboys are like he used to be with Duke basketball
where I know more, you'd know more players on Duke even not rooting for Duke
because you just had to watch Duke all the time.
Cowboys, we know all these cats whose names we're not supposed to know.
But as of right now, I got to admit to you, Ryan, I don't, never heard of you, Brevin Span Ford,
Luke Schoonmaker.
You ever heard of him?
I had not before last night at 8.19 p.m. Eastern I had.
not. He had a catch for 12 yards.
Yeah. I don't
even know. Hunter, is this Leapke?
Lupke? I'm going to go with
Leapke. Leapke feels like.
Yeah, it would be correct.
Unfamiliar. Anyway,
our good buddy, Danny Parkins,
had a very interesting weekend
of the games. We'll talk more about what made
his weekend interesting. But he
made a serious hot taker.
He's got the Giants
winning the division.
I
aspire to that level of confidence
or that indifference
to people calling me stupid.
Yeah, Danny Parkins,
someone who values good process
and strong decision-making going with
Cam Scataboo and Jackson Dart to win the NFC.
That's right, because look, he makes a compelling case
when he does this, right?
The only counter argument is that it's the Giants.
Right.
Right? But otherwise, you know, we'd be with it.
It's coming in hot on that one.
then between him and our other friend of the program,
Jason Goff, Jason Goff, who sent me a text that said,
let me make sure that I have this.
Oh, yes, it was the screen grab of dreams and nightmares.
I used to pray for times like this to rhyme like this.
And this is when the Bears had 21.
This is well before they racked up 59 points.
Now, granted,
they were playing the Panthers.
And also, they need to be careful
because they let the Panthers put up,
what was it?
Was it,
was it their own 37?
That was like a PAC 12 game.
It took,
it took four and a half hours.
It's going to be a lot of Pac 12.
Or,
you too young to remember the Wack?
Like before it was Maxian,
you remember when it was Maxion?
Yes.
It was late Saturday nights in the Wack
with BYU,
San Diego State and all of them,
and it was like Arena League.
I mean, that's early Mike Leach, right?
Oh, no, it's just well before that.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah.
So, well, yes.
Yes.
But that apparently is what the NFC North is going to be.
Because I really don't want to talk about,
maybe we can talk about the Lions a little bit later.
I'm not that happy, but at least we didn't lose those bums.
Who did they play right?
Absent.
There we go.
Thanks, lions.
Anyway, but the Bears are going to put up some points
and they're going to give up some points.
and the Lions are going to be out here giving up some points.
And apparently one way or another,
the Packers is going to be giving up some points.
And as long as Brian Flores is going to send the house all the time,
there's always the chance.
They're going to give up a lot of points.
In fact, I feel like this style of play,
it's a good thing they got two domes,
but it almost feels like this is wasted on playing in the tundra part of the country.
Like we need to put these teams somewhere with some faster,
well, as many fast tracks
as possible.
But the Bears, if you're a Bears fan,
you've never seen anything like this.
Does the scoreboard at Soldier Field
even got a five on the front?
Like, does it,
they go, they're going to be some lights on that scoreboard
that they have never been used.
They're going to be all the way out.
Yeah, their passing touchdowns counter
as like, as like a baseball outs.
It only goes up so high.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, it's going to be,
it's going to be like when I moved into this place
that I live in right now.
And the dude who had it before me,
Nobody lived here for a while, and they had new air conditioners installed, but they didn't
like plug them in, so they was just blowing like fan.
But nobody knew.
Nobody had been here.
That's what that five numbers are going to be.
Like, it reminds me once, the ACC tournament, they once had that in the arena in Tampa.
But the arena in Tampa is a hockey arena.
It is not a basketball arena, which is to say it has a two-digit scoreboard.
Because why would a hockey arena need a third digit?
Of course. Right. And this is Roy Williams, Carolina basketball was down there.
And it's like, y'all, what are they going to do if they get $200?
That's what's going to be going on there. But Ceda Williams looked good.
Like, they in total look good, but Cato Williams looks like a much improved quarterback.
Like, there are reasons to still have questions even coming into this year.
I feel like it felt better last year maybe than it actually was.
It was really good. I thought yesterday.
Just like I thought.
Lamar Jackson was
fucking excellent.
They could be scary.
Granted, they was playing against the cults,
but they looked offensively
terrified.
They now have an offensive coordinator
that is a new statistic I want to call
Don't Look Up Their Birthday.
Yeah, yeah.
They also have an officer coordinator
who's under the heading of
Don't Look Up His Dad.
Oh, interesting.
Go look up his dad.
Yeah, yeah, I think
old Declan Doyle
something like 30 years old.
Yeah, that's his dad.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And for those you who don't know,
like,
it's not fair to hold it against young Declan,
at least not yet.
But his dad was that strep coach at Iowa
that the black players in 2020 was like,
yo, we can't do this no more.
And then Urban Meyer tried to hire him in Jacksonville.
And even they were like, no.
Yeah, yeah, this is, this is back when the spirit was still in people.
And they was like, nah, no, no, no, no.
I just Googled this, man.
We can't do this.
But they looked great.
Indianapolis, I mean, Daniel Jones coming off an Achilles tear.
Yeah, good luck.
Right.
Let me know how that goes for you guys.
I personally wouldn't sign up for that.
And I'm just saying,
after a while,
they're going to have to ask themselves the question.
Maybe if we just let Anthony Richardson
get a couple of snaps.
They might have to throw them out there
because they might be two and eight.
There may be no reason not to.
Right.
Might as well have fun.
Hey, man, get out there and run the bone, right?
Like, like, just, just, you know,
just work something out.
Also, I thought Jalen Hearst look really good.
although I did not.
I felt Washington looked like a bad team to me
and the fact that that game was as close as it was at the end
is not, I don't think that bodes well for the Eagles,
which is interesting because we have long felt the ceiling
was Jalen Hertz.
And I thought he looked as confident in the pocket
as I had ever seen him look.
Like, I don't know.
I thought he looked really good in that game.
I thought Josh Allen looked excellent,
especially when you consider they were playing against a really good defense.
Yes.
And look, he had that Josh Allen play where he gave him a chance to throw the game away.
The Texas didn't catch it.
And so Josh Allen threw a touchdown.
I mean, that's pretty much how it went.
Like, we're here.
I get you, it's so much, I appreciate Josh Allen for getting good and staying good, right?
It's all been adjudicated.
There's nothing left to talk about.
All we got to do is enjoy it.
Right.
And tell the playoffs.
Well, yeah, then all of a sudden, the hypocrisy,
jump back out again.
Yes.
You know, but I'll, I tell you something I was reminded of in that game
because it's something that we don't think about anymore.
James Cook led the league in Russian last year.
Yes.
I just, like, the rushing champion is not something that I just don't think
we have at top of mind, like in the ways that we used to, right?
So, yeah, the Russian champion, he's Josh Allen,
and they didn't have great receivers, but they were okay.
They'd be talking about it like Josh Allen out there by a goddamn self.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, no, man.
They got dudes.
They've got dudes.
It'll be interesting for me to see your,
I don't like head coach's calling plays.
I felt like you should be too busy for that.
Fair.
Right.
But let's see how it goes.
Also, usually means if you're calling plays,
it doesn't mean you're the best person at calling plays.
It means you're bad at delegated.
Yes, yeah, that's, that's an ego play.
Correct.
Control free.
Yeah, but you know what?
Maybe he's that guy, right?
Like, you know, it's on the board.
we'll see Andy Reid's been calling these plays forever.
That's also, I think, in part why Andy Reid could often be a little bad at the clock.
Right.
A few too many things going on at one time.
But no, I think a lot of people had calls for optimism.
I'll tell you the last team that had calls for optimism in just a second because it ties in with who should have pessimism.
Who?
All right.
I talked about my man, Danny Parkins.
It's a great weekend for him.
His bears put up 59.
points, his hot take of the Giants.
They were 1-0, and they got the win in over the Cowboys.
But he is hitched his wagon of Justin Herbert.
And they lost to the Arizona Cardinals at the crib, mind you.
And they scored a grand total, what was it, like 17 points?
They have 14 points.
14, you are correct.
that's not good.
Like it is when he got an officer coordinator,
we all feel pretty good about.
I don't know if it's fair to blame this on Herbert,
but I do think it's a bad look for all parties involved over there
that they lost this game.
Did this loss this game to a team who's supposed to be one of the worst teams in the NFL?
Yes, yes.
I mean, I guess the other argument to be made is on the other side.
Jacoby percent.
I mean, I ain't going to pretend like I'll watch this.
Right.
Let's start there.
But Jacoby percent, at least numerically,
looked like he was doing pretty good against the defense
that I think we thought was better than that.
Certainly would look better than that against
Jacoby percent.
Yeah, the Cal, I mean, the charges are starting to feel like
this is just what it's going to be no matter what.
They have a coach that we all think is pretty excellent.
They have a quarterback that we think is pretty talented.
I don't think it matters who you put in the Chargers suits.
they're going to be the Chargers, no matter what.
No matter where they are.
No matter where they are.
Like, yeah, they can win a playoff game if they play against the Bengals.
You know what I mean?
Like you try to them out there against Andy Dalton type of situation.
You know, they can make that work.
But that just seems to be what they are.
Like, and look, that division to me is going to be weird
because I'm not bought in on the Bow Knicks thing,
but this is a team that was very close to going to a Super Bowl last year
talking about Denver.
My Holmes is coming back.
The Raiders at all, I mean, the Raiders at least demonstrated they're not the worst team in the NFL because they beat who is the worst team in the NFL.
The Dolphins.
By the way, we will see Fernando Mendoza sooner than the Raiders would like to play him.
Because Kurt Kent, Kurt Cousins, D-U-N. Dillon.
Of course.
Yeah.
I just find it so amazing that they have Kirk Couss and Fernando Mendoza on the same team.
The only two of those in the whole league.
Can you imagine the conversations they have?
Yeah, it's like,
oh, it's, it's,
Ned Flanders and Opie Taylor
on the same team.
Oakily dockley.
And by the way,
that team is the Raiders.
Yes.
Like, do you have a brand or not?
Right?
Like, I thought you guys stood for something.
What are you talking about?
Kent Stabler is rolling over in his grave.
Like, Ken Stabler would show up to facility
and tell jokes about those guys.
stand in their faces, try to force them to smoke cigarettes.
Al Davis would listen to one for Nendoza,
Mendoza post-game interview would be like, no.
No, yeah, no, neither one of these guys is on Al Davis's Raiders.
Yeah, never.
No chance.
Under no circumstance whatsoever.
But, yeah, we'll see what happens over there.
The Packers, look, I watched a good bit of the second half of that game,
which is to say, I turned it on just in time.
for Brian Flores to turn the burners up to 45.
And we're just going to bring heat
and there's going to be nothing that you can do about it.
And there was nothing. Another game.
What was it, a 12-point lead they had this time?
This is the third straight game.
And again, under circumstances for LaFleur
where the whole world is watching,
the national television situation,
we have all watched them lose three straight games
with double-digit lead.
And it's one thing when it's the Bears
and they had Caleb Williams,
Right. It's another thing when it's the Vikings who have Kyler, no, I'm sorry, not even him.
Carson Wentz. That's who they had.
I don't think the Packers have won a game since Micah got hurt.
Ooh, that wouldn't.
It's something, it's an absurd losing streak. It's almost simple. Yeah. And again, like you said,
three double digit losses. Hey, let me, let's not forget that LaFleur almost got fired at the end of last year.
Like, there was real talk about whether or not he was going to come back.
now this just keeps happening.
And I thought that love was really, really good for the game
until there was just literally nothing that you could do about it.
Like, they just brought,
they said Flores Blitz is like 78% of the time.
He is relentless, relentless about this.
And a guy Cravis makes a very, raise an interesting question.
When his point was,
Kyla Murray is not really a guy that's going to like force feed
the number one receiver.
So maybe just maybe Jordan Jefferson.
Excuse me.
We're back.
Yeah.
We're back.
Yes.
After a whole show of calling Sam Darnel, Sam Bradford,
I am back with the Jordan Jefferson thing.
And the thing about the Jordan Jefferson thing is we're at a point now
where there are people who don't understand why I would make such a mistake.
Right.
Like it's been so long.
It's been a long time.
Right.
It's been that long.
Justin Jefferson.
Jordan's brother, Justin.
Justin Jefferson.
Carson Wentz is a man who's been around long enough to know.
I just keep throwing it to him.
That's what I'm going to do.
So perhaps like maybe Justin Jefferson might like it this way.
I'm on a day-to-day contract.
And so what I'm going to do is I'm going to throw it to the good receiver.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Why would you do anything else?
Like, I didn't have no time to practice, right?
You treat this shit like mad.
Throw it to Randy Moss.
over and over and over again, right?
While JJ McCarthy, I don't know you over there playing paddleball,
blowing bubbles and shit.
I don't know what he's doing.
Is he even watching the game?
I don't know what it would take for them to put him in the game.
They might put Jordan Jefferson a quarterback
before they put J.J. McCarthy at this point.
I think it's all the board, man.
I think it's all the board.
I promise you, Kevin O'Connell likes Jordan Jefferson more than he likes.
Yo, what a weird situation they had there.
Because look at that whole depth chart.
Kyle Murray, Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy.
Three guys where the knock on them was, you know,
they don't really get along that well with the other kids.
Yes.
They got a whole team of those guys.
It's the whole roster.
Right?
And Carson Wentz did not really play that great,
but you give even Carson Wentz some short fields.
Watch what happens.
Right?
Watch what happens.
And speaking of people, looking terrible.
I'm trying to remember who I was texting with.
Ryan, it might have been with you.
And we were texting about Deshawn Watson.
And it was right at the beginning of the games.
And I was making the point to you that I was trying to figure out
if we could, like, get some shorthand
for how we, like, talk about Deshawn.
and I was like,
yo, man, maybe we just need to start calling him D nasty.
Except, like, that makes it sounds like he nasty.
Like, he's really good at playing.
Like, when it's initial nasty, you understand what I'm saying?
Like, it's like, you know, that's nasty as a term of endearment.
Yeah, exactly.
However, if we just call him nasty D, that's different.
It's amazing how just flipping,
the order of it, right?
Changes everything up.
Right? Bill Burr's got this routine about how black people got to figure it out how not to sound
racist and white people got to figure it out.
Like, black people call somebody say, this Asian motherfucker.
But the white dude will be like, it's fucking Asian.
Totally different.
Everything's different.
So anyway, we just talked about nasty.
D. And before I can even finish with the conversation I was having with you about
nasty D, he'd already thrown a interception. And it had already been done. He put up some
really impressive statistics while they were getting their ass kicked by the Jaguars.
We have a really impressive statistics. And buddy, from what I can see on the internet,
that wasn't going anywhere with the Cleveland Brown's faithful. Their whole thing is,
you cannot trot him out here for the home opener. No, there, there,
They're almost going to, like, put him out there for sacrifice against the bucks on the road next week and then week three.
Who knows who's going to start?
They never seen anything like it.
Never.
Your own starting quarterback comes in and he's like the heel in his own stadium.
How about this?
Not even a blackup can save him.
We have talked about this several times.
If you want to demonstrate that you were secure.
and your starting quarterback and you want the people to understand that the starter is the starter,
you go get you a blackup because the streets never asked for the blackup to be the starter.
They got a fifth round blackup who wasn't good the last time we saw him play.
Cleveland treating him like he, LeBron James and Nate Thurman rolled into one.
They can't wait for them to put his black ass out there and sit nasty D.
Now, right?
Here's the other part, too.
If they take NastyD out the game,
NastyD don't even need to work out.
Like, he don't even,
he don't need to wear real socks.
No.
He don't need to do nothing.
It is over.

When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months.
I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them.
I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files.
I just remember.
This low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything.
Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable.
I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming.
They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
But these aren't stories about what's taken.
from them. There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with

your For You page are equally important to your personality, welcome home. This is Prose Society,

and anyone who thinks Pride and Prejudice and Love Island deserve the same
level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books,
the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having. I'm going to have to look up this
story. I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the
latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages
inside compelling characters, then that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary
deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too
much, you're in the right place. Listen to Pro Society on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever

Big news Sunday morning before the games get kicked off.
Miles Garrett is going to the IR after struggle with a knee injury,
after struggling in the Australia game on Thursday.
What was your reaction to this news?
Hey, man, like, we can limit it to Miles Garrett a week ago bigger.
I'm trying to figure out, like, which way I want to go.
I'm going to start with the bigger and then come back to Miles Garrett, okay?
What if?
Just throwing this out there.
Because I don't think that this isn't a ridiculous question.
I don't even really think this is a super high take.
What if this stupid Australia game winds up messing up the whole season
for both of these teams.
Right? Now,
each one of them,
a big part of what happened with this game
is each team have their own science
saying what it is that they should do
to prepare for the game.
The 49ers wound up going and setting up for a whole week.
The RAM showed up the night before
because they apparently had done some research
to leave them to believe,
something that feels counterintuitive
to any of us who have ever taken a long flight before
that they just need to show up the day before
and they'd be ready for action the next day.
No, $49.
Blero their doors off, right?
But now the 49ers are going to be getting back,
trying to readjust and everything else.
And the Rams doing that quick back and forth thing
that they did with Garrett,
apparently with a sore knee on the front end,
gets there, gets stonewalled by Trent Williams by and large.
Then he's saying after the game how bad his knee is.
So then they have the surgery.
But the fact that he was telling us about it,
hey, this was a bad idea.
I don't, but what could they do?
Right?
Like, how do you decide who's important enough to play the game?
I don't, I mean, they didn't bring Aaron Donald.
I mean, if his knee is that bad, you know what's not a good idea?
Putting your star free agent acquisition or, you know,
it's free agent acquisition on a plane for 30 hours of a bum knee.
Well, here's the thing.
They didn't bring Aaron Donald because something tells me that Aaron Donald told them,
yeah, I'll come back.
But I ain't going.
I just went there last month.
vacation. I don't really need to go back, right? But like, what if the turnaround and everything
goes? Like, I feel like you got to bet against both of those teams this week, right? I just came back
from a much shorter trip and I'm still, we still trying to get back off of that. Um, like that. So that was
my first thought is that, especially if Miles Garrett being hurt, this, this takes away from our
belief that this is going to be this completely unstoppable indomitable team. You know, if we're like,
for an in-season surgery, all the things that we see these dudes push through.
And them to be like, nah, no, no, no, no, let's chill on that.
Let's get this under control right now.
I feel like that's a lot, right?
I mean, they treat, I mean, they came out here and talked about the science
and how this was the smart plan.
What if they just treated this like a schedule loss?
Yeah.
I mean, like, that is, it, the Rams seemed uninterested to be there from the jump.
And especially for, you know, something that's supposed.
opening your season.
Like they didn't seem like they had a lot of urgency.
And now with Miles Garrett,
I mean, this is almost more of an NBA approach
than an NFL approach, you know,
putting him on a minute's restriction almost.
Yeah, but can you, like football doesn't really like,
exactly.
Like, it just doesn't give you that.
Now, an angle of the Miles Garrett thing
that I don't think anybody's talking about
and we should keep our eye on.
Because we buy into narratives.
You understand?
A story can get overwhelming, and we just do it and we do it.
We believe in curses.
We believe in all these things.
Y'all believe in momentum, right?
Like, we believe in all this different stuff, right?
Let's consider something that never seemed possible.
What if the Cleveland Browns got out ahead of the Miles Garrett thing?
Definitely on the board.
Right?
What if they got out ahead of this?
They were like, yeah, it's never going to be as good as it was.
He just had the greatest season of all time.
Regression all underway.
Also, though, Steve Ballmer seems to be waving the white flag.
He announced he will accept the punishment for salary cap circumvention
and a statement Sunday night.
He said, quote, this has been a very difficult time for everyone associated with the clippers.
For that, I have sincere regrets.
I want to apologize to our fans, employees by fellow NBA team owners for the distraction
to stress this matter as cause, which I accept full responsibility as pretext.
as principal owner.
But what was your reaction to this?
Hey man, this thing has hurled out of control rapidly.
I believe it was August 23rd or 22nd.
I can't remember which day when the ESPN report came out
that made it seem like this is going to be water under the bridge, right?
Then the NBA came down with a hammer.
And, I mean, you could argue.
I saw Max Kellerman, the first person I'd seen actually make this point.
He's like, boy, doesn't that punishment feel a little bit harsh?
But it's the punishment, okay?
And I see why Balmer was thinking about suing and everything else and da-da-d,
figured out how to get back.
Now, the Department of Justice, the Eastern District of New York, the DOJ,
it's coming for him.
They are now investigating him and Kawhi Leonard.
What?
Over this?
I just can't believe.
Like, I always said that when Michael Vick got locked up,
because he didn't get it.
Then that door swung shut.
He was like, damn, for some dogs.
Like, he just didn't understand the stakes.
That's where Steve Ballmer is right now.
Like, for this?
Are you kidding me?
Now, this is also, I believe, though, the same district
that tried to make the play on all the college,
the basketball coaches.
Yes.
And came back with their dicks in their hands
because they didn't really have anything.
So one could argue they're an aggressive bunch.
But this has gone to places
that I don't think anybody could have reasonably believe,
that it was going to go to,
given what the offense actually is, right?
He's going to be so mad during that year that he's got.
I wouldn't want to go over to his house during this.
You're watching the games.
I kind of wish that Ballmer was younger
because I feel like all he going to be over there doing
is like pushups and stuff, right?
Like you got to do something with all that anger and energy.
He'd come back and looking like he just got out to joint.
Just hot.
Let's move on to the year.
US Open.
Interesting day as
Alexander Zerev
Pope funded his rival Ben Shelton's
girlfriend after winning
the U.S. Open. He said after
the match, quote, Trinity, I thought
you had a game today.
Well done to you as well.
You're the Loki charm. So
not today, but usually.
But what was your reaction to this?
So, you know, we
I never really thought about this until
now. But you know how we'd be kind of
assuming that our Russian brothers, and is he Russian?
He's German.
Oh, so Zverev is not Russian?
Correct.
Oh, sure sounds Russian.
Yes.
So when you're Russian, we assume that you might be able to fight.
When you're German, we just think you mean.
That was...
At minimum aggressive.
Yeah, yeah, that was...
If Fitzseldon pulled up on him right there in front of everybody,
that would have been okay, right?
And I got to tell you, there's a significant portion of the list
an audience that would love to have Ben Shelton's back right now.
But did you see what happened?
He is, I have to correct.
Born in Germany to Russian parents.
Oh, wow.
Let me tell you that.
That's a, um, that's-
Talk about, talking about hitting the nail on the head there.
Okay, Compton and Long Beach together.
Now you know you're in trouble.
That's what that sounds like to me.
You know what that is?
That's not a conflict diverse household.
Yeah, yeah.
Let me tell you the opposite of Compton and Law & Beasts together.
Ben Shelton and Trinity Robin.
Ben Shelton got out there,
they asked Ben Shelton after he beat the homie big foe,
and they were like,
hey, you might be the first black U.S. open winner
since Arthur asked,
when you think about that?
And he tried to chase the subject.
He was like, USA, USA.
And brother, you just, excuse me, young man,
you just, I don't want to offend you.
No.
He just won the Huber Davis Award for 2026.
We were all rooting for you.
And you was like, keep that shit.
I don't even need it.
Remember that other thing I was trying to tell you about Ryan?
Yes.
I'm still not going to try it, but this would have been the time.
It would have been, but I think that's a...
It would have been a time.
Here's my other question, though.
What Trinity Robin got to say to him when they roll out of there?
So you didn't say nothing to them about that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is, uh, talk about putting him in a bad spot after again.
I mean, did he wink at her?
Did he blow her a kiss?
Like, yo, homie, this is.
What's you saying about me right now?
Right.
Um, and finally, the CEO of Anthropic called for a global slowdown of
artificial intelligence development in an essay over the weekend.
Quote, over the last few months, I have been convinced that fully addressing the risk requires
even more prudence, not just investing in risk prevention, but pacing the rate of capabilities
advancement so that risk prevention has time to keep up. We must slow the pace at which we
improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use
of the time we gain. Bo, your reaction to this quote from the CEO. What happened? Right?
Right.
Because we've been talking about this for a very long time.
Ryan, tell them the name of the book.
If they build it, everybody dies.
Yes.
And the concept of the book, which was written by two gentlemen,
one of whom had been in a very high capacity
in one of these companies was simply that
if anybody gets this level of superhuman intelligence,
it will turn on us.
And all the simulations have told us
that it's going to turn on us.
It's not like this guy was the first guy to come up with this.
Right?
So what did you see that made you do this?
Is it the story about the biological weapons?
What happened that made you realize finally what the stakes was?
Right?
What was it?
Because, buddy, clearly we have a problem here.
We know we have a problem.
It is obvious we have a problem.
problem. But we've been saying this for so long. The problem he's got is all of them have to stop.
Like part of why this is hurtled out of control is that all of them are basically trying to seek out a level of monopoly product.
Because the only way that these companies are going to be able to operate at the scale that they're trying to get to and the reason that they're moving and the ways that they're moving, only one of them can really win in order for this to go right, especially like with the thing with the Chinese and their shit being open source.
the profits are going to get devoured in that way.
Like, you've got to be able to basically become the only one to win.
So all of them are investing and investing and investing in ramping this farther and farther and farther
and hoping they get to a place where they can dominate the market.
But nobody can afford to be the one that's like, hey, we got to stop.
When the reality is they all need to stop.
I believe the term that people need to use here is the prisoner's dilemma.
Right?
It'd be better off for everybody to do this.
but the best response function says
mutually assured destruction.
And to me, it's not a don't ever use AI sort of situation.
No, I don't think that's, I think that using it
to make these stupid videos and stuff like that,
I think that's horribly irresponsible.
I think they're perfectly legitimate uses for the technology.
But what is capable of and where it's going?
No, no, no, no, no, it'll kill us all.
And Ryan, remember the thing that that book said,
and we've been talking about on here,
The thing those authors said is,
we don't want you to think we are crazy.
So we're trying to sound cool about this.
Yes.
But it is far worse than we're making it sound.
Yes.
They are very intentionally not trying to sound alarmist,
but it is impossible to describe the severity of the scenario
without using alarmist language.
However, all I hear is,
roo, roo, roo.
That's all I hear.
That is, that is, that is, that is, that's it.
That's all I, I, I feel like it's not simply that someone's breaking into my car.
They're breaking into my car and I'm in it.
That's my fucking swunger crowbar and it hit me.
It went through the glass.
We're right there.
And you're like, no, man.
I think I'm going to just stay here.
All right, Bo.
A couple of voicemails.
A lot of good ones.
Here's our first.
Beaumani.
Ryan, welcome back, Ryan.
We thought you went missing.
So we just have to sit down a search party.
I got two questions for you, gentlemen.
This is yo, calling out the 911.
One.
What's with your boy, as you say, Shannon's boy, on CBS,
walking out there with a Sierra's man,
walking out there with a Jerry Curl Mohawk, Russell Wilson.
So what's up with that?
And two, is Lane Kiffin, the new Edwin Edwards?
Is there going to be scenario where it's going to be like, you could fire me if I get caught in a room with a dead recruit or a live boy?
Let me know what y'all think.
Hope you all right.
Have a good one.
Be safe.
And as a Bears fan, Bo, you can take that Honolulu blue off anytime you want.
Take care, fellas.
Bye.
All right.
So I want to start by speaking to the pair of social weirdos out here.
And we've come to understand there are more of you than one would have thought.
Ryan, I once made the terrible mistake of looking at my own subreddit, which I will never do again.
Never do it again.
All subredits are where your fans get together to talk about.
how much they hate you. And it's not just me.
It's every single
subreddit. And that's why
every one of you needs to understand
you're fucking weird old lame
old dork.
Now, with that in mind,
I told you all that Ryan was going to be
taking some time off.
And then Ryan came back.
I told you guys that this was
going to happen. Ryan was out
here thinking you got fired, thinking all these
terrible things happened. Yeah, guys, I had a baby.
It's fine. Yeah. It wasn't my place to
tell you?
Yeah.
You know?
But like,
Ryan'll be back in a little while.
Boom.
We even came to a whole new place.
Ryan came with me.
That's how solid this shit was.
Hey, well,
you know,
okay, keep no friends.
Like,
wow, man,
fucking weirdos.
Like,
number one,
we'll,
we'll deal with that.
Number two,
I thought it was very on brand
for him to say
that he was calling
from the 901 Memphis
and all we heard in the background
was Sirens.
Oh, that was me.
Oh,
okay.
Well,
but still possible.
Could have gone either way, right?
New York City, Memphis, when it comes to sirens,
very similar situation.
Number three, with Lane Kevin,
there's a big difference between Edwin Edwards and Lane Kiffin.
People love Edwin Edwards unconditionally.
People like Lane as much as he wins.
All right, Beau.
Here's our next one.
Hey, Beaumonti, this is Curtis from Tampa by way of Detroit,
and all-time listening.
Got a question for you, musically,
is Bobby Womack?
The king of songs we thought were love songs, but actually weren't.
Like, we can all agree that if you think you're lonely now wasn't a love song, it was a threat.
And the song, I wish you didn't trust me so much.
That's pretty much a dirty macananah, right?
I just don't want to hear your thoughts on that.
How would you do?
Oh, no.
Thanks and keep it going.
No, no, let's be clear.
Those Bobby Womack songs are love.
love songs. They're just love songs about somebody else's woman.
Like, if you think you'll only not wait until tonight, now you're right about that one.
That's not, you're right. That is a threat. Um, but the other ones, they're love songs.
They're just not about the, what one would term the right person. That's all. Um,
right? To put this in terms that may be a little more relatable to you, a lot of Layla.
Got it. A lot of, well, Bobby Walmack had the ultimate Layla situation.
That was a good translation there.
Yes, yeah.
So to fill people in on this,
if you don't know the situation with Layla,
George Harrison used to be married to a woman named Patty Boyd,
who apparently she'd have five.
Because while she was married to George Harrison,
Eric Clapton was in love with her,
and Eric Clapton wrote Layla about her,
and eventually she left George Harrison for old punk-ass Eric Clapton,
and George Harrison and Eric Clapton stayed friends.
Which I don't know if that says,
great things about those guys
or terrible things about those guys.
But anyway, Bobby Womack,
and I don't blame Bobby Womack for this,
but Bobby Womack's mentor was Sam Cooke.
And when Sam Cooke died,
Bobby Womack, who later married Sam Cooke's wife,
showed up at Sam Cooke's funeral
with Sam Cooke's wife
wearing one of Sam Cooke's suits.
You weren't something new every day.
But important to keep in mind,
Bobby Womack was 21 at the time.
And I'm pretty sure that Sam's wife was a little closer to his age, which is around 33.
If the roles were reversed in that, the word predator would jump off the page.
Instead, y'all call him Bobby a dirty mat.
All right.
Here's our last one.
What's up, Bo?
This is Anthony.
So I've actually been keeping a roster of these for a while.
Mercedes. White Mercedes was my first middle school crush.
German car, white girl, black name.
White Jamal with three A's was on my football team.
And then we had Zeke and Keenan from the Army, also white.
Mrs. Linnae was a team mom.
You guessed it.
And lastly, we have the best one.
Chetre, you wonder and I answer.
Her dad's name was Travis.
and mom's name was Shannon.
Chetre.
On my paper roster at this point,
we got Mercedes, Jamal,
Zeke Keenan, Mrs. Linnae,
and Shetre.
Honestly, their parents
never wanted them to be employed.
But are these all-white people, or?
I think so.
I feel like it should be.
I can't quite tell,
but at the same time,
I'm in his voice,
Wow. He is completely complicated the situation. He got a call back next week.
Let's get confirmation on this roster.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Check what everyone's eligibility?
Yeah, yeah. And exactly what part of the Joker you went on, brother, dare I say?
I do love, though, that we have opened the door for people to understand.
Because, you know, I understand it's for white people.
Race, the only purpose of race is to be racist. Black people have figured out how to turn it into fun stuff.
And so white people never know when it's okay to bring up because they only bring it up when it's time to say something bad.
That's why they whispered to be like, you know, this guy, he was Asian, right?
Because you got to, you know, because that's how it feel.
But I'm glad we've liberated for people to understand.
Sometimes things are just funny.
And those names, we too have been confused.
It's the same for us.
But hey, ladies and gentlemen, thanks a much for joining us here on the right time.
We do this four days a week.
Ryan Brumbley handing things behind the scenes.
Thank you, sir.
Hit the voicemail line.

I'm inclined to believe you are a hater.
