On today's episode of the Ringer Fantasy Football Show,
we go through Danny Kelly's most fun prospects for the 2021 NFL draft,
including Trevor Lawrence, who, in my opinion, is just sunshine from Remember the Titans.
And then also Kyle Pitts, one of the best titan prospects ever,
who apparently has the measurables of Bob Sagget.
And then Craig did all this half-assed internet research on these prospects,
and in the process found the most accomplished high school in America.
Also a lake, shaped like a lobster.
I don't know what the deal is.
Stick around.
Welcome to the Ringer Fantasy Football.
football show. I'm Danny Hifitz. I'm here with Danny Kelly and Craig Horelbeck. Are you guys ready
for a trivia question? Yeah. Sure. Wow. How many people are looking at the Reddit Wall Street
Betts subreddit right now? Is it actually up still? I thought it got taken down. No, it's back up.
What was the number of trees in the world? Because that's how many people I think are looking at that page.
By the way, remember how we had that trivia question? And then I think we said something like 800 billion or I don't even
know what it was, but someone sent me a tweet linking to an article that said,
Scientific American or something, found that there was like three trillion trees in the world,
a higher number than what we had said on the trivia. So I was closer. It didn't sound quite as
absurd. Just wanted to point that out. We don't actually know the exact number of trees on the
planet. So maybe I'm right. And maybe it would have changed the whole dynamic of that lineup.
I really wonder. Which we're not reading today. We're not reading the scores today. We're saving that for
next week.
None of you have answered the question of how many people are Wall Street bets.
Oh, is there an answer to this?
Yeah, I'm going to say 80,000.
I'm going to go 55,000.
1.1 million people are looking at it right now.
This is Thursday at almost 4 o'clock.
This is taking over the internet right now.
So anyways, we don't have to spend too much time here,
even though, honestly, I could do an entire episode of this thing.
I think this is the most ridiculous.
And this is a big talk, but this is one of the most ridiculous things of the last four years.
there's been a lot of stuff.
But anyways, we're not talking stocks.
We're talking draft stock today.
D.K.
A scouting report for the ringer.
You can check it out at NFLdraft.
orgher.com.
Again, NFLdraft.
Dot the ringer.com.
It's the best draft guide in showbiz.
D.K. is too humble, but it is actually an amazing colossus piece of work.
It is like his magnum opus.
It's the Sistine chappel.
He designed it by hand every piece of the website.
D.K.
Yeah, that's definitely not true.
I'm getting credit for, it's hilarious because I see so many people on Twitter are like,
oh my God, this looks incredible.
This is amazing.
How the functionality, the, you know, like the user experience is so clean.
It's so awesome.
And I'm like, thank you.
Thank you.
I really appreciate it.
I had absolutely nothing to do with that, but I'm going to take credit for it anyway.
Yeah, it's like when somebody tells you like, oh, my God, your dog is so cute.
Thanks.
I mean, I didn't design him.
Yeah.
Although Barbara Streisand designed her dogs
Barber Streisand clones
Yeah her dog was going to pass away
So she cloned it and now she is her dog's clones
Which is what I think the Giants did with Eli Manning
I think Daniel Jones is just like a clone
I mean yeah that seems fair
That's neither here nor there
Okay we are going to do things that are here and there
Which is the draft DK you rank your top 32 players
For this draft guide
We're going to go through like the 10 most fantasy relevant guys
Really just it's offense of the 10 most fun players
Because let's be real
Who cares about defense? These are the fantasy relevant players
in my top 32 as it stands right now.
This, and it's all, you know, it's all potentially going to change a little bit here and there
as we get further along in the process.
And I watch more players and I kind of crystallize my opinion on all these players.
But this is where I feel, this is how I feel right now after going through the tape of on all these guys.
And to do it, we wanted to, I told these guys as like, what is like something that everyone
gets angry about?
And that's player comps.
Whenever you use player comparisons on draft picks, I've found that like people,
there's two reactions. It's either a sarcastic, oh, so this guy's going to be a Hall of Famer
or two, that's a fucking terrible player comp. He's nothing like this guy. You're an idiot.
So these are the two reactions I usually get to player comp. So we're going to lead into that
and kind of like go through and talk about these player cons that I have for these guys and use
that as a little bit of a rubric to just give you an idea if you want to pick these players
in Fantasy Drafts next season, which I think most of these guys you will want to pick.
Well, yeah, I mean, listen, player comps are the most interesting clickbait there is.
Like, I'm clicking who does Justin Fields remind you of in the NFL rather than like breaking down Justin Fields' arm.
Like, everybody can screw off. Player Comps are the most fun thing out there. I don't care if they're wrong.
Fantasy's wrong every goddamn year. I'm a huge proponent of player comps. And the reason I like them is, and this is how I think of them and when I'm doing it is here's a player that you can use as like a very vague.
it gives you an idea of the type of player, the style that they are,
maybe the potential, like, sealing that they have.
That's the type of player they are.
It just gives you a very general guide on, like, how to picture this player.
So that's how I use these player comms.
Well, so it's just fun to remember people.
Be like, oh, he's like Antonio Gates.
Like, oh, I remember Antonio Gates.
I remember that.
That's in my brain.
I got that written down in my head.
Like, it's just fun.
And so with these 10 guys that D.K. is about a breakdown, you know,
they're going to be relevant next.
year in the NFL. They're going to be, they're going to be real names. You're going to know them.
Some of them may become household names. And to kind of initiate them, I also did my own version
of research on these guys, but from a completely different perspective. After D.K.'s breakdown of
them on the field, I'll be getting into their worlds and lives off the field. I'm talking
social media, Twitter, Instagram, if they got a TikTok, family life, personality. So I'll be,
going through each of these guys just so you know who they are, you know, when you're drafted among
You didn't do horoscopes, though, which is a little disappointing. But I think the rest of your work
is very, very well researched.
Thank you. Yeah, you know, astrology's never been my, my forte, but maybe we'll lean in this year.
This is a type of astrology, I feel like.
All right, so let's just jump into it. Okay, so first up, Trevor Lawrence, Clemson, obviously.
Who's the player comparison for Trevor Lawrence, D.K.?
So Trevor Lawrence is actually kind of a unicorn in his style and everything.
So I went with Fabio Quoft John Elway, if that gives you any idea of kind of like the type of
prospect he isn't. And it's not, this comp, this comp,
was tough because it's not like they necessarily look like each other or Fabio or John Elway.
Well, he kind of looks like Fabio.
To be clear, both Fabio and John Elway had their moments before Craig and I were really like kicking.
True story. One of my college roommates, his dad is like best friends with Fabio.
What? What?
I was at his house. I was at my friend's house.
And there was a picture of his dad and Fabio like locked arm, like, you know, his arm over his shoulder.
And I was like, my mind was completely blown.
Anyway, we're getting off topic.
The reason I went with John Elway here is not necessarily because they look like or whatever.
They do have similar sort of playing styles.
They're both highly athletic.
But it's more just this is the type of prospect that Trevor Lawrence is.
Like John Elway was one of the top prospects to come into the NFL ever.
Like there's maybe five guys that were that hyped or whatever.
And so that's just kind of where I went with that.
Lawrence is tall and skinny.
So his body type is probably a little bit different, obviously.
but the way that they play, arm strength, mobility, athleticism,
you know, natural instincts for the position,
that all kind of fits together.
So I have one question about his play,
and then we'll let Craig dive into his Instagram life.
Why did Trevor Lawrence just play poorly at the end of 2019?
And does that concern you at all?
Because there was this weird part of the offseason
where I was wondering if he was Fields versus Lawrence.
He pulled away this season,
but he just really didn't play well the second half of 2019.
He kind of came down to Earth, I would say, a little bit
in terms of his perception
it was more like, you know, because after the 2018 season, you know, he leads, Clemson to a national title, 30 touchdowns for interceptions, like the legend of Trevor Lawrence begins.
I distinctly remember watching this in a bar, watching them win that game in a bar and being like, this dude can't, I know, I remember bars.
That was like, oh yeah, bars.
Like, remember hanging out and talking to your friends in person? Yeah. I remember we were all talking about like, this guy I can't even go into the NFL until 2021. Like, there's literally.
two full seasons he has to play more before he's even eligible for the NFL. So that was just,
you know, his legend all started back then. You know, in 2019, he came down to Earth a little bit.
He wasn't like a per, it didn't have like another perfect season. He struggled a little bit in the
beginning. He picked it up as the year went on and then he struggled as a passer in the college
football playoff, you know, in the two games versus Ohio State. He was 18 of 33 for 259 yards,
two touchdowns. So he, you know, he struggled a little bit like,
completion percentage of all. However, he did rush for 16, he rushed 16 times for 107 yards
and a touchdown in that game, including one like epic, epic touchdown run, like really long
epic touchdown run. So he, you know, that he showed his ability to kind of like pick up
the offense and carry it even if he's not having the greatest passing day. Obviously,
in the college ball play, if you're going up against really good team. So you're, like,
expected that your, your performance is going to like not be quite as sterling and clean. So
that was that. And then against Ellis, you,
you know,
Clemson just ran into a buzzsaw
last year against that LSU offense
that Joe Burrow led.
You know, same kind of deal.
Didn't have a great game.
18 of 37,
234 yards,
no touchdowns,
no interceptions,
rushed for 50 yards
in a touchdown on 10 carries.
So again,
he kind of showed his versatility
and this is another thing.
Like, you know,
everyone's going to say,
oh, he's got deceptive speed
because, you know,
whatever,
he's a white guy.
Yeah.
Yeah,
but he is very,
very fast.
He's a legitimately fast,
explosive runner,
very smooth.
He's a gazette.
like as a runner.
Okay.
So I think he brings that dual threat, you know, talent to the NFL.
He's got to be a little bit careful because he's got a really kind of skinny frame.
But I think he's the type of guy that can like really make you pay with his legs.
So I got a couple questions for you.
So in terms of his running, like is he a Joe Burrow type runner where he'll scramble a couple
times a game or is this a guy where the NFL will be designing runs for him and he'll
be like leaning towards the Josh Allen style?
Not like he's got the body of Josh Allen, but like will he be rushing 10 times a game or
eight times a game.
That's a very, that's a hard question to answer.
I would not say body type.
He's like Josh Allen.
Josh Allen's built like a truck.
But he's like Lamar Jackson,
if you're talking about him being too thin to like really take it.
Yeah, he's not nearly as explosive as Jackson.
I could see them using him as like a read option keeper here and there to keep
defense is honest.
I doubt that we see a team design an offense with his running in mind, if that makes
any sense.
Got it.
Yeah, okay.
But he's good enough.
He's more on the Joe Burroughs spectrum, I would say.
Okay.
That's cool.
And then my other question was just like, what's his, like, what's his strong point?
Or does he have everything?
I guess if he's the number one pick.
Because he, like, got a crazy arm.
He's super accurate.
Can read the field.
Is he just like perfect?
If I had to kind of encapsulate it, it's more like, it's kind of like polish or his instincts in the position.
He just looks comfortable.
He has it all.
He's accurate.
You know, he's mobile.
He can move around in the pocket.
He can read defenses.
He's good at, you know, breaking down the blitz and beating the blitz.
He kind of has like, it's like a five tool player where, you know, he's got a,
all the tools. It's not going to be
easy for him in the NFL, but he's
got the tools to develop
into a very good player. I could see him
struggling at times, just like we saw Joe Burrow this last
season, you know, struggle in certain areas.
But overall, I think he's
got the skill set and the mentality, like he's never
phased. You never
see him really like panic or anything like that.
So, yeah, he just seems
to me like he's as good of a prospect
as we've seen in a long time. And that's
not to say he's perfect or that he's like a few
Hall of Famer necessarily, but I think he's got the skill set to be very good eventually.
All right. So what about, so he's got all the skills, but Craig, tell us about the more important
stuff, you know. So his social media presence. So at the end of this, I'm going to give a follow
score, basically. Like, is this guy worth it? How do I feel he's ranked in the social media world?
Is he a good hang on the internet? Yeah. Is he a good hang? So his real name is William Trevor
Lawrence. So his name is Bill Lawrence, which is the guy who created scrubs. So that's kind of fun.
should he go by Bill Lawrence, perhaps later in his career?
Would he go first overall and be a unanimous prospect if his name was Bill?
Bill.
I don't know if he would.
Bill Lawrence?
Yeah, I don't think Bill Lawrence is the number one pick.
Who's the last young person who actually goes by Bill?
Do you know anybody under 30 who goes by Bill?
I think Bill Simmons is the last one.
I don't think anyone's done it since.
So he went to high school in Georgia.
The only other NFL player to go there is running back Ronnie Brown, who he follows on Instagram.
That's nice of him.
Yeah.
So the one, Trevor Lawrence is a tough start to all these guys because he's probably one of them more boring.
Hold Twitter.
He's already engaged.
He's getting married this year.
Very professional.
Yeah.
He's engaged.
Everything feels vetted.
It's like he's already been, you know, grabbed by agencies and they're making sure everything is tight and clean.
He doesn't have a million, you know, tweets saying crazy stuff.
Like, everything is pretty locked.
It's a little, yes.
He has one IG that he kept up of him visiting Duke.
And it's like, dude, what's up?
Did you not like Clemson?
Who knows?
you're definitely reading Instagram. Maybe he just couldn't start over Daniel Jones. That was the problem.
Like, that was the only other college on his Instagram is Duke. He just couldn't start over with Daniel Jones. He just knew he wouldn't beat him in competition.
Other than that, this made a squeaky clean. I'm going to give him a 6.5 out of 10 on my follow score only because he is going to be so famous that it might be worth it to stick around and see what he's up to.
He's going to be Russell Wilson-esque boring wise. I'd be shocked if Trevor Lawrence made interesting content. He's wholesome and if he plays for your team, but he's
going to play for the Jaguars. So I don't think he's playing
for 99% of your teams because I don't know
if there's Jaguar fans listen to this podcast. If you
do, I'm sorry. Please email us.
One last question. Does
Trevor Lawrence have good hair or is it just
long hair? Oh, he's sunshine
from Remember the Titans. How dare you? He's like
the real life guy. I think that he should get
so he is the obvious air
to the Troy Palomalu ads.
Right now it's like Palomalu
Mahomes. Mahomes. But like Trevor
Lawrence needs to be in those pronto.
I just don't know if his hair is good
if it's just long.
It's a good question.
Like, is it, like, does he actually have, like, luscious, nice hair?
Is it just kind of long?
Should he keep it his whole career?
He's literally Sunshine, and they made Sunshine cut his hair, like, within 30 seconds
of getting into the locker room.
So I feel like he might not really take it to the NFL.
Do you think he would lose his powers if he cut his hair?
Oh, like Samson?
Kind of like Joe Burrow.
As soon as Joe Burrow cut, or not Joe Burrow, sorry, Justin Herbert,
when he cut his hair, you know, his stats fell off a fucking cliff.
So we can't let Trevor, we can't let him cut his hair.
We can't let him cut his hair.
I think Herbert's long hair is nicer.
Got better lettuce than Trevor than Bill Lawrence.
No, I think that's too much of a hot take.
That's like you're trying to just like climb up the hot take rankings.
It's like he has bad hair.
All right, let's move on here.
We got D.K., Justin Fields, so I've heard of him.
Yeah, Justin Fields, who, he's the other big name.
He's like a former five-star guy, started out as Georgia, transferred over to Ohio State.
I've got him comped to a souped-up deck, Prescott.
In terms of body types, I think this is like a pretty good fit because he's got like a thick build,
Dak-like.
He's slightly short on the quarterback spectrum.
He's a 6-3-ish.
But he's a really good athlete, really accurate thrower.
In a lot of ways, he reminds me of Dak because he is the type of guy who is probably,
I bet you he'll score a lot of touchdowns as a rusher because they use him and read option stuff near the goal line inside the 10-yard line.
Just to kind of like back up a little bit, 2019.
he blew up.
Like he definitely was like in the same stratosphere as Trevor Lawrence.
In fact, over the off season, a lot of people were talking about like, is this guy better than Trevor Lawrence?
And so he had 41 touchdowns, three interceptions for Ohio State, really accurate, really efficient, not turning the ball over, good runner or two.
He fell off a little bit in 2020, 22 touchdown, six interceptions.
There's a couple of games that he was just not very good, Indiana, Northwestern.
But he kind of got back on the hype train, I guess, when he,
balled out, like, ridiculously against Clemson, including, like, you know, four touchdowns
after he, like, basically his insides were destroyed on this hit to, like, his side.
Like, you guys saw this.
It was just, like, this brutal hit where it liquefied all his internal organs.
He still stayed in there and played.
Jesus.
He became the T-1000 in Terminator 2.
He was just liquid metal.
He's like, my organs are not in the right place.
You know what I mean?
It's like, but he just a badass.
I really like Justin Fields.
His, I guess, doc has dropped a little bit this year, I think,
and a lot of people see Zach Wilson as the number two quarterback in this class.
The issue with fields that I think it is a legitimate issue is he sits in the pocket
and sometimes he just stares down his first read and he doesn't go through his reads quickly.
He doesn't get the ball out quickly enough.
It takes a lot of sacks.
So that's something that is going to be crucial for him as he goes to the NFL.
But the things that I like about him, it's really strong arm, really, really accurate, really tough, good leader.
Like, everyone loves him.
Like, his team rallies around him.
And then he's also just, like, really, he's literally Cam Newton as a runner.
He's fast, tough.
And when people try and, like, tackle him in, it's kind of like a Newton, Rothesberger thing.
Like, Craig, you know Rathsburger.
When people try and sack him.
He's not bad big, though, is he?
He's not as big as Rathesberger or Newton, but he's, like, made of stone in the pocket.
like dudes just like fall off of them when they try and sack him.
Here's my question, D.K.
So he sucked for the first month of the season, right?
Or the final month.
I don't recall.
But how much of the-
He had a couple of bad games, yeah.
How, yeah, this is fair.
How much of this can we throw it due to COVID?
Because it's like Ohio State, obviously, it's such a weird football season
where they weren't going to play.
And then everyone else played and they're like,
well, fuck it.
If everyone else is getting their money, then we'll play two.
And then they came back.
And then Ohio State was just odd.
Like, he just had an odd season.
They barely beat Northwestern.
Like, how much literally you're the one of value,
how much stock do you put into those games?
I mean, I think you have to,
you can't like ignore them,
but I think it is something
that you absolutely have to take into account.
Like, you know, he's playing multiple games this year
where like 20 guys are not playing.
Like 20, it's ridiculous.
You know what I mean?
So that's something that you have to keep in mind.
Overall, it was like a weird season
for college football in general.
I think you have to do that.
I have to keep this in mind for, you know,
all these players coming out that,
There's extenuating circumstances.
It's a highly stressful situation in the world, not to mention just like in college football.
I thought it only affected college football and game stop.
Yeah.
So, yeah, game stop.
This is like pre-game stop, the world.
But I don't know.
I do think, yeah, I think it's absolutely something that you have to keep in mind.
I don't think you can completely wash your hands of it or like you can completely dismiss it.
Because he did have those games where it was like, okay, this guy doesn't.
look like a first round pick. He maybe should go back to school, which was part of the discussion.
At the end of the day, though, he's my number two guy. I just really like his skill set. He's done it
against the top teams in college football. You know, like he had that awesome game against
Clemson. It looked awesome. Mentally, I think very, very tough, like strong, good leader, all that
stuff like that you want from a quarterback. Yeah, I just really like Fields. I do think it is a
worry slightly that, you know, maybe he'll never develop the ability to go through his reads
quickly. But I think that's one thing that you can kind of coach guys, you can coach guys into
giving them layups, you know, like, here's your checkdown. Hit your checkdown on this if you
don't hit your first read. And then eventually you develop the ability to kind of like, you know,
work through your reads. So I'm not a quarterback guru, but I do have confidence that he can do that.
All right. Craig, what about off the fields?
Nice. Just it off the fields. So Little Nugget, he originally
committed to Penn State, according to Wikipedia, which is kind of fun. So he is from Georgia.
He is the most notable alumni from his high school. No one else went there besides him,
so that's kind of fun. He's kind of boring. However, he's got a dog named Uno, who has his
own Instagram at Uno Fields, and Uno has 24,000 followers. He's like a cute little...
Yeah, no, it's a... I like the dog. Here's the thing. The dog stopped posting right when the Ohio
State's season began, and he hasn't... Like, it's like the 23rd of
October, they started at 24th. The dog hasn't posted since the season ended. So it's like not
only did he stop posting on his Instagram, but the dogs has not posted. So like the dog's
Instagram is kind of dormant, which I think should dock him points. What kind of dog is this?
It's like a Frenchy pug looking thing. It's a, I don't want to just bit. Yeah, it's, it's cute.
It's nice. It's a little dog. It's a little dog. I like the name Uno. I like how it says
son of Justin Fields. And Justin Fields is Instagram says father of
Uno. He's committed.
He's a committed man.
So I really do enjoy that. He has a TikTok
account. He has posted one video.
Wait, Uno or Justin Fields?
Justin Fields.
Okay. Of him and his boys
dancing.
He's got 72,000 followers
on TikTok, yet only
has one video. Pretty impressive.
I kind of get millennial Russell
vibes from Justin Fields based on
social media account. Oh, no. He's too
chill for that. Russell Wilson's not a normal
person. I don't know, man. He has a
lot of like his whole Twitter and it's just like working hard being humble blessed like he would post
every time he got or he visited a college like he'd be like blessed to have visited northwestern like
he also really likes baseball like Russell Wilson he's a very leadership focused guy he may be a
little more fun but I think he has Russell Wilson vibes this is what I'm talking about this is what
I'm talking about he's he's been through like the ringer in terms of expectations and like
tons of media coverage all this shit five start guy you know he's like I feel like
he listens to Brené Brown podcast, you know?
First of all, way to unironically use through the ringer, D.K.
I know, right.
Second of all, to the Brunay Brown point, I think the difference between Russell Wilson and
Justin Fields is that I've watched some YouTube video of Fields, and he seems like a chill
guy.
The thing about Russell Wilson is that all these athletes post these quotes of like, you know,
no days off and all, you know, these cliches.
Russell Wilson's like that in real life.
Like, if you talk to Russell Wilson, he speaks in like motivational Instagram captions.
I think Fields could get there.
We don't know.
I don't know if Wilson was like that
when he was like at Wisconsin.
I think Russell Wilson has always been a 35-year-old father,
even when he was like a 20-year-old person
who's not a father.
And that now he just reached that.
You got to give to Russ, though.
Russ is dating a pop star.
Points for that.
Like, that's kind of cool.
Dude, Russell's thriving.
And he's raising future son.
It's dating.
He's married to a pop star.
They have several kids together, at least one.
Look, man.
Russ is, anyway.
It feels...
It feels that he's a little chalky,
but I'm going to give him an 8 out of 10,
follow score.
because I love Uno, love the dog, he has potential.
Without the dog, he drops.
Yeah, he drops without the dog.
If you're following fields, follow Uno with him.
DK., tell us about Zach Wilson from BYU,
who I have to say, I don't think I know who he was a year ago.
Well, yeah, because he kind of came out of nowhere a little bit,
at least on the national level.
He did have an impressive year as a freshman.
Underwhelmed as a sophomore, he had a couple of injuries,
and then blew up his junior year,
which was this last year, 33-3-3 touchdown interception ratio,
11 yards per attempt,
just balled out for BYU.
So who's the comp?
My comp for him is twofold.
When I watched him,
I got shades of Baker Mayfield
in the sense that really strong arm,
really, really accurate.
Like, that was the thing
for Baker Mayfield coming out of Oklahoma.
Like, this dude is just
absolutely on point down the field,
lots of big plays,
you know, pinpoint accuracy, all that stuff.
That was kind of like what I got from Wilson.
And then my other comp is Henry Roan Gardner
because I don't know if you know who that is,
but that's the kid from
a rookie of the year,
the movie from like the 90s.
Is this past year guys his generation?
The kid who plays for the Cubs and he breaks his arm?
Exactly. Yes.
And he can throw 100 miles an hour.
It breaks his arm, it gets all elastic,
and then the dude can throw like a hundred mile an hour heat,
you know, and all of a sudden, like, he's playing for the Cubs.
Wait, that's the movie where the traitors trying to give him hot ice.
This is obviously a joke, but if you've seen a picture,
go Google a picture of Zach Wilson.
The dude looks like he's 12 years old.
So that's kind of like why I did that one.
I think it's funny.
He's got a strong arm, but he's maybe 13, you know, 14,
going on 14.
So he's the new Herbert.
Oh my God,
he does look like he's 12.
Yeah.
He's like younger than a Herbert.
He looks like Herbert.
Herbert is like the senior in high school,
but he's like the freshman showing him around.
Totally.
Anyway, so he's really fun.
He's a really fun player to watch.
He does like some,
and actually draw some of my homes.
I've seen people comp him a little bit to my home,
some to Rogers, Aaron Rogers.
Because he does these off platform,
like sidearm across his body,
he like whips the ball downfield, really accurate, good arm.
I wouldn't say that he has like a Mahomes arm strength in terms of like his
velocity, but he has a good arm, accurate downfield.
And he's kind of like a fun, almost Jotty Mansell style playmaker where he's like
going out in the flats and hoisting a ball up real deep or whatever.
He's just kind of a playmaker.
And so all those comps kind of work together.
But I like Mayfield just from the accuracy point of view.
And obviously Mayfield was.
a little bit of a surprise riser out of nowhere,
his final year at Oklahoma and then went first overall.
Oh, the other thing I was going to say is he's,
in addition to being like a really exciting passer,
he's pretty good runner.
Like he scored 10 rushing touchdowns.
I wouldn't say that he's like Kyler Murray.
He's not that fast or explosive,
but he is pretty quick.
And, you know, he's the same deal.
He can be used inside the 10-yard line,
keep the ball, scramble, whatever,
and score some touchdown.
So I would say that is another strength of his.
He's a little undersized.
He's kind of skinny, you know, six foot three-ish, skinny-ish.
So he's got to be a little bit careful at the next level.
It's almost like a Joe Burrow thing where you worry a little bit about his frame.
Overall, exciting prospect.
There are some worries about the level of competition that he's played in college.
Like this last year, didn't really play anybody of note with BYU.
And when they did play Coastal Carolina, who was ranked at the time, they lost.
So that, I guess, and he didn't really, I don't think he had that great of a game in that game either.
So, you know, it's one of those things.
where his skill set definitely translates,
but there will be questions about that
when he goes to pros.
What about Wilson off the field?
What about his,
is it weird to be stalking a person
who's like 12 years old
on the internet, correct?
Probably a little bit, yeah.
His mom runs the account.
Parenthold controls on his Instagram.
This is the least boring,
this is the most boring one,
excuse me, that we have so far.
So I'll just brace through it.
His middle name is Capono.
That's kind of fun.
Capono.
It's like Paul Rudd
from forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Yeah, Co-No.
You know, he seems a little more dialed in than Lawrence and Fields into like the sports media world.
He'll retweet interviews of Rivers saying stuff, Matt Stafford, the Pat McAfee interviews with Aaron Rogers.
And you're right, D.K., he looks 14.
His Instagram is like really watered down, like him, like standing in front of a building at BYU, like smiling with his arm around his sister.
That's it.
Here's a building.
Yeah.
I give him a 5.9.9.10 follow score.
Ouch. Ouch. Okay.
I wonder if he's like one of those type of people that will just go wild when he gets the NFL.
And like all of a sudden he's covered in tattoos.
Looks like Justin Bieber after a few years.
Well, let's let him get his driver's permit first.
And then maybe we'll decide if he can get a tattoo.
Okay.
Trey Lance, North Dakota State.
This is the ultimate, who the fuck is this guy guy?
Because at some point in the last year and a half or so, you learn that, or maybe you're learning right now that there was some random guy.
from North Dakota State who played one football game this year that might be a top five draft
pick. D.K., what the, first of all, who's your comp, and then who the hell is Trey Lance?
The easier comp would probably have been to put Carson Wentz, but in light of how terrible
Wence has been lately, because whence went to North Dakota State, Toolsy guy. And that's kind of
the deal with Lance is he's like all about tools. You know, he's big, strong, fast, good arm,
good accuracy, all the stuff that teams are looking for. So I put,
Josh Allen. I put mini Josh Allen as my comp.
Now. Because Josh Allen was this
toolsy guy at a school and like who the hell is
he playing? How is he possibly going to
translate? It feels kind of boom or
busty, right? Totally. It's like an experiment.
It's like, I mean, he's in the FCS
and obviously Carson once plays
the trail here, but
what is there to like about Trey Lance?
Yeah, a lot to like. I really like him
actually. I'm very intrigued with this guy
I think he has, you know, like I said,
the tools and the size and
just the overall skill set to be like a
really good NFL player. He's accurate, good decision maker. He actually last year, so in 2019,
he led the bison, which are like a FCS powerhouse, but he led them to a national title
as a redshirt freshman. And he threw 28 touchdowns with zero interceptions in that offense.
He also rushed for another 1100 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. So this dude was,
you know, a superstar at that level, led them to a national title, all that. You know, you hear people
rave about, I heard Lance Zierling talking about this on his pod at the athletic with Dane Brugler.
And people rave about his football IQ, the coaches there do, his ability to go on the chalkboard,
like breakdown plays.
Like he has a very strong understanding of all that stuff, like how everything works together.
So that's a big thing.
And credit to Lance for that little tidbit.
But yeah, I think, you know, just overall, again, he's fast.
He can be a part of the run game.
Like you could design runs with this guy.
kind of like Jalen Hertz style.
It's such a bizarre situation because, again,
so North Dakota State played one football game
and then canceled the rest of their season.
So he's really played...
The SCS in general just canceled their season
because of COVID,
and his team managed to get him,
like literally was just like a showcase game
against Central Arkansas for him
to kind of show scouts his skill set.
I think there was like 20-something teams there at scouts.
And he was okay.
Like he had an up and down game.
his, he finished 15 of 30 for 149 hours, two touchdowns, and he threw a pick, which kind of sucks.
It's a weird situation. It's a weird, you have to throw it out. It's bizarre. You can't take a lot from it.
However, he did gain 143 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. So it shows his dual threat, versatility. He's a dynamic quarterback.
A couple concerns, obviously, number one, inexperienced. He only has 17 starts under his bow, which is low for any level.
In addition to the fact that it was all at the FCS level, nobody of note on his overall.
opponents.
And so those are the two big things that you're worried about.
Number two thing that you're worried about, or I guess the third thing that you're
worried about is that he was playing in this very run-heavy, low-passing volume offense for
North Dakota State.
It was like, you know, he averaged probably around 20 attempts per game.
And so this was a very, you know, it's like the, I guess maybe you compare him to the Vikings
or something like that, where they're running the ball a ton, play action.
They use him in the run game quite a bit.
but he's not like spreading things out
and throwing the wall 40, 50 times a game type of deal.
So I don't know if that's a concern necessarily,
but that's something that, you know,
scouts have to take into account.
All right. Well, and a player with such a limited sample size,
I think that his social media presence
is even more important than ever.
I mean, this is an absolutely crucial evaluation.
DKs only have to process here.
Craig, tell us about Trey Lance on the internet.
It's like we're doing point-counterpoint.
Not really, but like I feel.
like from S&L back in the day.
I don't know if you guys know that with Dan Aykroyd.
Is that that show that people used to watch on television
that people insist is funny,
even though it's just...
Man, the point counterpoint is really funny.
Anyway, so according to Wikipedia,
Trey Lance set the NCAA record
for most passes thrown in the season
without an interception.
287 passes.
I feel like you're stepping on D.K.'s toes here.
I just thought that was fun based on his Wikipedia.
So he's a Minnesota guy,
small town guy. He vacations at Lobster Lake in Minnesota.
Lobster Lake?
Lobster Lake?
Monsters in Minnesota?
No, the only reason it's called that is because the lake looks like a lobster shape of the lake.
And it really does if you Google it, which I did.
I'm going to do that right now.
So he's probably the most well-rounded.
And be careful, there's a lake lobster in Maine.
No, he's not the most well-rounded prospect.
Mack Jones is the most well-rounded prospect, if you know what I'm saying.
Literally well-rounded.
Lance is, he seems like a well-rounded guy.
We'll get to that.
We'll get to that.
Lance is very socially active, very aware,
seems like a good guy.
According to his Wikipedia,
it says he stood up to bullies in high school.
He hosts Bible studies on Zoom during the pandemic
and goes to children hospitals.
Wait, who wrote his Wikipedia?
Who's writing that he stood up to bullies in Wikipedia?
I think it was his mom.
There's got to be some sort of legend.
This lake looks just like a lobster.
Holy shit.
Doesn't it look like a lobster?
It's crazy.
It's kind of like the claws and shit.
Yeah, okay.
Anyway.
Yeah, you know, he seems like a very nice guy, like a nice small town guy.
I hope, you know, I hope he does well.
I'm going to give him a 7.1 follow score out of 10.
We'll see what happens.
I love this.
All right, next up, Mack Jones, Alabama quarterback, the Mr. Well-Rounded himself.
D.K., who's the comp here?
A.K.A. Big Mac Jones.
There we go.
I got Matt Ryan as my comp here.
And the biggest reason is he's a old-school prototypical pocket passer.
he's not going to give you much as a runner.
He is slow, baby giraffe looking like, you know, getting outside the pocket.
Just like, you know, like if Matt Ryan gets outside the pocket, you're like, oh, God, he could be killed on this play.
Same sort of deal, but also like Matt Ryan, Jones is very accurate.
A good ball distributor, like knows to go to his stars.
And he put up like an absolutely absurd season with the, with the Curns and Tide this season.
he was a Heisman finalist
First team All-American
He threw 41 touchdowns
Four interceptions he led the nation
And pass efficiency rating 203.1
Obviously that's a little different than in college
Completion percentage 77.4
And yards per attempt
11.2 the season
He's got a good size
He's not like super big or like prototypical size
He's got good like a burly frame
In fact there's some pictures circulating around
Where he's looks like he's a little out of shape
but I would say like overall his circles of shape
yeah we'll get to that
but overall I would say he's very
he's like a very good
game manager and I don't mean that as a negative
like he gets the ball out distributes the football
very smart with the football very accurate
hits his guys in stride
he moves around in the pocket really well in fact
a lot of people have compared it well I don't know if a lot of people
I've seen the comp thrown out
that he kind of looks like Tom Brady
which isn't like obviously
I'm not going to compare him to Tom Brady,
but the way they play is a little bit similar
in the sense like he's standing there in the pocket.
He has the sense to move around
and keep himself clean in the pocket.
So stylistically, he's the same style.
Didn't he compare himself to Tom Brady?
Yes, I'll get to that.
Craig, yeah.
Did he tweet that, Craig?
Yeah.
That's kind of my scattering report.
Good processor,
distributes the football,
goes through his reads,
not afraid to check it down.
Just keeps the offense moving.
Yeah, so Mack Jones here has tweeted
Not a ton, but several times about Tom Brady
wanting to be like Tom Brady or an interview with Tom Brady.
He actually posted a photo you guys can see here in the Google Doc of him.
I think this must be him in high school with his shirt off
next to a photo of Tom Brady with his shirt off, I think, coming out of Michigan.
The very famous Combine photo of Tom Brady where he's just like skinny...
He looks like a guy.
Nondescript.
Yeah.
And I guess they look the same.
Mack Jones has put on some pounds.
There's a photo of him with a cigar after a game and he is burly.
He doesn't have to wear like the quarterback, like, flack jacket thing around their torso just because
he's got the padding already, natural padding. He really does. So diving into Max, you know,
social, he's got a good name. Mack Jones just a great college name. He seems very family
oriented. His brother and his sister are a big part of his life. His brother played soccer in
college. His sister played tennis. His dad played college tennis as well. He enjoys fishing. He likes the
movie Stepbrothers. He wants to be Tom Brady. Just a classic white guy. He is a 20,
two-year-old white man built in the lab is Mac Jones.
Not only is he Matt Ryan on the field, he is Matt Ryan off the field as well.
It's a perfect comment.
And mind you, Matt Ryan's the most boring person in the world, and none of us know one thing
about Matt Ryan's own life.
Mack Jones is like just a guy.
He wears polos.
Just a guy being a dude.
He's just a guy being a dude.
He probably likes Bud Light.
He's just a guy.
Do you want to know why he's named Mac?
Sure.
His name is Michael McCorkel Jones.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh, but McCorkel?
Michael McCorkel Jones.
Oh my God, how did I miss that?
McCorkel!
Yeah.
McCorkel?
He's from Jacksonville.
I try not to laugh at names, but McCorkel is unreal.
Pretty good.
So my follow score for Mac Jones is 6.8, 6.8, only because he's kind of a cringe follow.
Like, he's such a normie that I think it's worth it.
I think you already follow people like Mac Jones in your life.
Probably, I don't think you need more of them.
Okay.
Let's go to some receivers here.
I want to just quickly shout up before we do this 2021 class,
that the 2020 class of receivers gained more receiving yards
than any of the rookie class ever.
So these guys can contribute immediately.
Obviously, it's something that D.K. was all up on.
I was somewhat behind on that.
But so, D.K., with that said, who's your number one receiver for 2021?
Jemar Chase from LSU, who I've got comped to Devante Adams.
And I think the comp works because, at least to me it works,
because they're like both big physical,
you know, they don't necessarily have like these elite physical traits
where he's like, this is the most explosive guy in the NFL or whatever.
Like when you look at Devante Adams play, he's just technical, strong, good route runner.
I think all those things apply to Chase.
He is a big play machine.
He had 24 receptions of 20 plus yards in 2019, according to PFF.
Most in this class, he's a touchdown maker.
He led the nation last year in touchdowns with 20.
He opted out of this season.
But he won the Bolitnikov, which is the top receiver in college football last year for the national title winning LSU Tigers.
And he did all this playing next to Justin Jefferson.
He didn't have as many catches as Jefferson, but he had more touchdowns and more yards, I believe.
And so, yeah, in fact, he led the country in yards to 1780 yards, 20 touchdowns.
He had 84 catches.
He did all that.
And this is like kind of the key thing.
He did all of that as a 19-year-old.
like everything that you're hearing about
Devante Smith this season, which is
I mean, DeMante Smith is legit. I love DeVante Smith.
But he's 22.
Like, Jamar Chase did this as a 19 year old.
And so, like, that to me is just like,
this guy is going to be a stud in the NFL.
And I think just like overall, he plays really physical.
That's like the name of his game.
He's just going to dominate the guy in front of him.
Craig, tell us about Jamar Chase's Instagram, social media life.
He went to Archbishop Rummel High School in Louisiana.
Notable alumni of Archbishop Rumble.
Omar Khan, the VP of Football and Business
for the Steelers.
Who Deshawn Wantsid wanted as the Texans' GM.
Right.
Christian Fulton, cornerback for the Titans,
and Eddie Jemison,
Jemison, I don't know, can't say his last name,
but Eddie Jemison is the guy who played Livingston
in the Oceans movies.
Oh, really?
The tech guy.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, who sweats a lot.
He went there.
Kind of cool.
Wow.
How about that Livingston?
Jamar is a bit of a live tweeter.
He tweetses during Big Edifference.
NFL games, big college games, which is kind of fun.
He's a big fan of Justin Jefferson,
kind of zings him. He tweeted on December 6th,
like, ha, ha, glad I didn't bet on Justin Jefferson.
He must have had a bad game.
Some of my favorite tweets of his, though, that I don't understand,
are December 20th, 2020, he tweeted,
Just Eat Soup! Exclamation point.
That same day, he later tweeted,
Oh, my God, eat soup.
Eat soup. So I don't know if he's a big soup guy.
So is soup like a person, and he's like, eat, like, go eat soup?
Like, you've no idea.
Couldn't figure it out.
I'm not sure.
So I just like that he has the most personality
out of all these guys so far on Twitter.
He's also, his Instagram, it's pretty drippy.
He's got some good fits going.
Good fashion game.
He's got some good fits going.
He's one of those guys who kind of just posts stuff
that's going on in his day.
Today, Thursday, his Instagram is a picture of his car
thermometer and it says 46 degrees
and it says, it's freezing out here, burr.
So, you know, I'll like,
Like him.
So maybe he won't do so well because we're cold.
Follow score 8.6 out of 10.
I like Chamar Chase.
I found this tweet where he says, oh, my, OMG, eat soup.
There's seven responses.
What?
Number one, what?
Number two, I'm hella confused.
Number three, can't wait to see you in the NFL.
And then number four, okay.
And then the rest were just people tagging their friends in it.
Who in the right mind would comment on his tweet about soup saying,
can't wait to see you in the NFL.
That's such a weird thing to respond with.
Is it, though?
Anyway, all right, so that's Jamar Chase.
Now, next, we got the next stud wide receiver.
Yeah, you mentioned Devante Smith, DK.
Who's the com for Devante Smith?
So this one's tough because he is sort of like
Trevor Lawrence, like a unicorn-style player.
He's very skinny.
He's like 6'1, 172 pounds.
So there's just not a lot of guys in the NFL history
that you can really comp them to.
I put even slimmer Calvin Ridley,
So that kind of gives you the idea, like, good route runner, very fast, good deep threat, touchdown, machine.
Just an overall, like, absurd playmaker.
He had maybe the best wide receiver season in college football history this last year,
led the nation in catches with 117, yards, 1815, over 600 more than the next closest receiver.
They played a few more games because they went to a beautiful class.
It's 600 more yards than the next guy.
But he's just absurd.
And that includes, like, all, like, the lower level guys, too.
Like, he just went off.
And then he also led the nation in touchdowns with 23.
Plus, he had two more touchdowns, one on the ground and a punt return touchdown.
So this dude is just a freaking playmaker.
And he won the He won the Heisman Award, which is obviously the best player in college football.
He's the first receiver to do that in like 30 years, insanely productive over his career, 46 touchdowns, almost 4,000 yards.
He probably would have been like a second rounder, maybe a first rounder if he'd come out last year.
Like, that's how good this guy is.
Um, he's a big game machine.
Like he's had, he has some of the biggest like, like, like he cut a, he cut the game
winning touchdown in the 2018 national championship game from Tua.
He also scored three touchdowns, 250 yards, on 12 catches in two quarters in two quarters.
Before he got hurt, he like broke his hand and had to leave the game, but he had all
that in two quarters.
Um, but like really, the only thing that you can, that you can worry about is, well,
there's two things.
Number one, he's super skinny.
So like teams might be turned off by that.
Number two.
He's not expected to run real fast.
Like he might be like a four or five guy, but that just doesn't matter because he plays fast
and he gets behind the defense, all that stuff.
So he's going to be very fascinating, especially from the fantasy point of view,
he's going to be very fascinating prospect because a lot of people are just going to fade
this guy because he's skinny.
And that's generally like a smart play, but this guy might just be the unicorn.
Yeah, I think I actually lean to fading him because he's skinny.
He's 172 pounds.
I mean, that's 15 pounds less than I weigh.
Like, it's worrisome.
I mean, who are the comps for guys who weigh 175 or less in the NFL who have really succeeded?
Isn't it just for Sean Jackson and Marquise Brown?
Oh, Marvin Harrison.
So there's just not very many.
Not to mention, what's all this noise that he did this at 22 years old against 21-year-olds,
and so therefore it's not a big deal?
Because there's this weird corner of fantasy dynasty analysts who just aren't really in and Devante Smith
because he's just older than everyone and therefore better,
which on one hand I get, on the other hand,
I think it's ridiculous.
He's 600 more yards than everyone.
Well, think about this.
Think about it this way.
Think about how much you would fucking dominate
if you as a high school junior
went and played a bunch of eighth graders.
Or like if you're playing against Zach Wilson?
Yeah.
I mean, the breakout age thing, I think, is important
because if you can prove that you come out
in like 18, 19 years old and you dominate guys
that are your age and old,
older, 21, 22 year olds, like, that means you're really fucking good at the sport that you play.
People are worried about late breakout guys.
And he, you know, he had, he's been productive for three years at Alabama.
And he, like I said, he could have come out last year as an early declare and probably have
been a second round pick or maybe even a first round pick.
A lot of people liked it more than Judy, you know.
And so, I don't know, it's one of those things where there's a few things working against
him, the old, the fact that he's older than most of these prospects.
and the fact that he's super skinny.
So from a fantasy point of view,
this is going to be one of the most controversial guys,
you know, in a long time.
Okay, so tell us about off the field, Craig.
Social media.
Really drippy Twitter photo.
He's in a brown suit, mask, headphones,
just looks like a badass.
A lot of fashion picks on his IG.
He's got 354,000 followers on Instagram.
He kind of pokes fun at Sabin a little bit.
The Sabin meme when Sabin was like mean to that report.
after I think it was the Notre Dame game at halftime.
It's like, stop asking me or?
Yeah, or he was like, I can't hear you.
Like, I can't hear you.
My headphones just don't work.
And he was kind of being a tool.
He kind of made fun of him and like compared it to like a, you know, like, oh, when you have to wear pads at practice.
He's got a Bose deal.
Drake follows him.
Drake, he's got the Drake follow.
He's got the Drake follow.
There's nothing exactly sexy about his, about his Instagram's Twitter experience.
He's a little generic, but he's pretty cool.
you know, nice fits.
Did you see his jacket slash bow tie ensemble that he wore when he won the Hysman?
Like that is a good looking, it's like a maroon, like velour or velvet suit jacket,
like double-breasted, really big lapels.
Look, this guy looks great.
My follow score 6.8.
There's not a ton going on, but he looks cool, great fashion.
You can follow him.
Nice.
Well, I have to pick a, that's the same score you gave Mack Jones.
Yeah, well, Mac Jones is completely different because,
James is a cringe follow.
You follow Matt Jones because he's so generic.
It's actually funny.
Okay, good.
I'm glad you clarified.
So let's stick with Bama for a second.
The other Bama receiver is Jalen Waddle.
So, yeah.
How would you describe, first of who's the comp for Jailen Waddle?
And then why, I mean, you got two players in the same team.
How do you compare them?
Like, how do you actually pick one over the other?
It's tough.
Waddle, who I comp to T.Y. Hilton, he's a speedster.
He's like supercharged speed.
a little undersized too.
He's like 5'10,
so he's not super tall.
But he's built well.
He runs like a running back after the catch.
But he's like a field tilter.
He's the type of guy that can take the top off of defense.
He averaged 19.1 yards per reception in his career.
22.3 in 2020.
He only played in five games.
And he scored a touchdown on one of every six catches in his college career,
17 touchdowns.
So he's like a big play touchdown maker.
kind of like Ruggs, Henry Ruggs, but like more built
and I think a little bit maybe like well more built for the NFL
if that makes sense.
But is Rugs good?
I mean, Rugs was, I think Ruggs is a very good player from a fantasy point of view.
He might not ever be that great because I think he's a low volume,
kind of like Deshaun Watson guy.
You can never really tell he's got like three targets in a game.
One of them might be a touchdown, but you know, the other, you know,
it just, you'd never really know.
I think with Waddle, he's so good after the catch,
they'll get him more involved.
as like a short and intermediate guy.
And so that's like the T.Y. Hilton comp doesn't work perfectly because he is like very
elusive after the catch.
I don't know if that's necessarily Hilton's game.
But yeah, Waddle, you know, again, really good, deep threat can go up and get the ball in the air,
very aggressive player.
And he was actually outproducing Devante Smith over the first four games of the season this year
before he broke his ankle or his leg or something on a kick return.
And so a lot of people like him.
Some people like him more than Devante Smith.
I'm a big Smith guy, but I think Waddle is really good too.
Yeah, the fact that he returned from a broken ankle and played in the national championship game, I think is amazing.
He did not look healthy in that game.
No, but the fact that he did it, like, I don't know if that was a good idea, but you know what he did it?
Tough.
Yeah, tough guy, like you earn your stripes.
Craig, Waddle, Instagram, hit us.
Texas guy went to Episcopal High School, notable alumni, the Gia.
of the Dodgers, Andrew Friedman, went there.
Waddle, freaky athletic.
The dude can 360 dunk like it's nothing.
Nice.
He tweeted that.
It's a joke.
I mean, he bounces out of the gym.
Yeah, he goes up and catches past it, too.
Like, he goes high, yeah.
Yeah.
A lot of picks supporting his Alabama,
former teammates.
He loves Jerry Judy,
a very supportive Alabama team guy.
His IG, unfortunately, pretty bland.
He went to Miami Beach once for a vacation.
That is about it.
I'm convinced all these guys have Instagrams.
That's the conclusion I reached.
Is that a fake Instagram for the...
Yeah, Finsta.
Okay.
The Finsta culture, maybe if you're not aware of it, is so widespread,
but it's invisible unless you're part of Finsticulture.
I couldn't agree.
They have to have fenced this because you can't be posting your life on if you're on...
No, you know, these guys are all brands now.
Like, you want to make sure your stuff is squeaky clean.
You get drafted.
They definitely have fintagrams where they're, you know, I'm not saying they're doing anything bad on them,
but they're just like being a little bit more, you know, the guardrails are down a little bit.
I think this is a crucial point.
6.0 out of 10 for Waddle.
I like the basketball content.
I like his name.
I think Jalen Waddle is a good receiver name.
Would he be a first rounder if his name is Robert Woods?
No.
Bill Lawrence?
I don't think so.
Bill Lawrence.
Bill Lawrence not being drafted number one.
Okay.
Next receiver.
Who's next D.K.?
Rashad Bateman from Minnesota, who I have comped to Michael Thomas.
And for the record, I heard Todd Bates.
Oh, so he's going to be Michael Thomas?
He's going to break the catch's record?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I heard Todd Baitman.
Mike Shea actually used this comp today on the Senior Bowl video, so that was cool.
But I think the reason I comped him to Michael Thomas was he's big.
He's like 6-2, long-levered guy, beast on slants.
He can get off the line really quickly.
The difference, and I don't think Michael Thomas can't do this, but he hasn't done it much in his pro-career is
Bateman's a very good deep threat, too.
He averaged 20.3 yards per reception in 2019.
He played mostly on the outside.
They had Tyler Johnson, you know, the Buccaneers guy, he's going to be making a few
big plays here in the Super Bowl coming up.
Those two guys combined to completely go off.
And so he had 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns and 13 games last year.
He opted out, opted back in, and then opted out again, I believe, this season.
So there was, you know, he only played in five games in 2020 because of COVID,
but he had 472 yards and two touchdowns.
I just think he's like, he's a polished, you know, pro-ready guy, got a good frame.
he's going to be big on all these analytical profiles
because he's got an early breakout age
his BMI is good, all that stuff.
He fits a lot of the analytical profiles.
I think he's a really good player.
But he might drop to the second round.
I might be a little higher than him
on him than the NFL.
We'll have to see.
But I really like him.
Well, if you want to follow Rashad Bateman's journey,
you can on his YouTube channel.
Oh, YouTube channel.
The YouTube channel.
Was he Juju?
He just started it on January 22nd.
He has one video up. It's a trailer teasing the season that he's going to post. It has 200 views. He has 168 subscribers. You know, not great, but hey, we all start somewhere. Logan Paul had 10 subscribers at one point. You know what I mean? Totally.
So you're saying Rashad Bateman's going to fight someone. He's going to fight Ben Ascran.
Decent production quality on the video. I love that now. He's like him working out.
Yeah. Decent production quality. What matters? You know, if I'm going to subscribe to a YouTube channel, you need to know what the production quality is. His IG is aesthetically pleasing. He has delusely. He has deletion. He has deletional. He has deletional.
deliberate artistic choices.
Fashion game is strong.
However, this is probably my least favorite follow.
The man is setting himself up to be a brand.
Odell does follow him.
4.9 out of 10 follow score.
Wow.
He's two brand oriented.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, I would be if I were him too, but that's fair.
Okay.
Who's next, D.K?
All right, Terrace Marshall from LSU,
another LSU receiver.
These guys, dude, LSU is just stacked a receiver
last couple years.
I mean, this is nuts.
At this point, how many LSU receivers
that are really high-drafted.
It'll just be in the NFL.
We're talking to Odell, Jarvis were teammates.
Now we're talking Justin Jefferson,
Jamar Chase, and Teres Marshall World teammates.
Yeah.
And it's crazy that you've probably never heard of him, right?
High Fitz.
He had 13 touchdowns in their championship year.
He just didn't hear about him because, like,
Justin Jefferson and Chase were going off.
That's crazy.
Anyway, he's like another, he's five-star guy.
Good size.
He's like 6'4, 200 pounds.
You might be a little bit on the skinny side.
We'll have to see how it all goes.
but he plays smooth, balanced.
I think he gets low when he's in his routes
and he can turn on a dime, that kind of stuff.
He quietly, like I said, caught 46 passes,
671 yards and 13 touchdowns for that Natty,
the National Champion Tigers, you know, with Joe Burrow.
But no one heard of him because he was playing third fiddle.
He took over, when Chase opted out,
he took over as the lead guy for LSU this year.
He had 48 catches for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns in 7.
games. So for context, I just want to give a little context. This is not how it works, obviously,
because he might not have followed this prolific trajectory the whole season. But if you,
if you extrapolate his numbers to a 15 game season, which is what Chase did last year in 2019,
Chase led the nation with 1780 yards and 20 touchdowns, Marshall's 15-game pace this year
would have put him at 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns.
So I don't think he probably would hit those numbers
But at the end of the day
He was putting up good numbers for the LSU offense
Without Joe Burrow, by the way
And he's a very he's like a deep threat
Good on over the middle like tough
Very good concentration at the catch point
He had like one really cool
One handed catch in the back of the end zone
This season
I just think he's really good
I don't know if he'll be a first rounder
I think the buzz on him is like he'll probably be a second rounder
But I think he's really good
player and he's got the size.
And I comped him to
Devante Parker. I thought Craig
would like that. I'm in. I'm all
in. Yeah. Unfortunately, I'm not
in on his social game. Oh, okay.
It's, uh, most of his tweets
are just religious stuff. I have no problem with that, but he's very
religious. There's a lot of religious tweets. And he has
no tweets before April 2020 and no
Instagram post before September 2019.
Find the Finsta.
There is other things
out there. I will give him
credit. His latest Instagram post is in a Chinatown
crewneck, which is a very cool streetwear brand.
3.8 out of 10 follow score.
Maybe he just doesn't post. Maybe he's smart.
I don't know. I'll buy it. He started posting
in September 2019.
Yeah, social media's terrible. Someone told him,
hey, be a brand. And he's like, sure, and then he just
didn't. All right, Kyle Pitts.
What's the deal with Kyle Pitts?
Yeah, one of the best tight-end prospects
in the decade, maybe.
You know, you go back to, like, a Vernon Davis
caliber prospect.
He is, I come to him to Darren Waller, and that's
maybe like not doing him enough credit because he's like that type of guy that can line up all over
the formation very fast very good like natural fluid route runner a beast at the catch point
just goes up over guys and wins with the ball in the air um he's essentially a big receiver he
he can block a little bit but it's not really like what you're going to ask him to do at the pro level
he's going to be a mismatchmaker a joker tight end um he's the macchi award winner which is the top
tight end in college football and he was also a finalist the first
ever tight end to be named a finalist for the Bolitnikov ward, which is given to the most
outstanding receiver in college football. So that's cool. The first tight end to finish in the
top 10 at Heisman voting since 1977. Wow. He's really good. He had 43 catches, 770 yards,
and 12 touchdowns in 2020. He's a beast. You know how you, in the beginning of the episode,
you were like, people always complain about the player comps. Can I complain about this player comp?
Yeah. You're like, this is the coolest tight end in 10 years. You're like, his comp is Darren
Waller. I feel like you're describing like Travis
Kelsey or someone.
I mean, Darren Waller
had like a thousand yards and he's like
one of the best tight ends in the NFL. I think you're
anchoring to the fact that he was like a late breakout
guy. Darren Waller's a fucking baller.
But sure, Travis Kelsey works too.
I think they'll use him
like Travis Kelsey. He's not quite as big though.
So is he a top, like he's a tight end.
Is he worth a top done pick in the draft?
Ooh, that's the tough question though right there
because
generally speaking like
Kelsey was like a third round pick or a second round pick.
You know, like you can get,
Gronk was the second round pick.
You can get these stud tight ends later.
So I don't know.
Like the whole value thing,
like typically you're not getting good value
if you take a tight end in the top 10
or even in the first round, generally speaking.
So it's tough.
But I do think he's rare enough
that it could be worthwhile.
In my opinion, he won't be a bust.
But does he have good social media?
Okay, so here's what I got on pits.
I like pits.
I like him too.
Abington Senior High School in Pennsylvania
Notable alumni, a ton of big dogs
I'm just going to list through him
from his high school
Adam Aaron, the CEO of AMC,
very relevant and co-owner
So the cowpins stock
You can only sell you can't buy the Kyle Pitt stock
The guy's also the co-owner of the Sixers
Wow
Also alumni Amar Bose
Chairman and founder of Bose headphones
Hmm
Wait wait wait wait wait what?
Because doesn't he hit Kyle Pitts
Does he have bows or Bees?
are beats in his Instagram posts.
It's Bose, I was just about to say.
Are you sure it's not beats?
What is this high school?
Abington Senior High and PA?
What is the deal about this?
Let me keep going here.
Ashton Carter, United States Secretary of Defense.
Eddie George, running back to the NFL.
Yep, Heisman winner.
Bob Sagitt.
Wow.
Wait, what is this high school?
I think Kyle Pitts and Bob Sagitt are like the same size, probably, too.
Similar comps, like similar members of the field.
And lastly, Stephen A. Schwartzman, CEO of the Blackstone Group, a global private equity firm he established with the former CEO of the Lehman Brothers.
Oh, boy.
Fucking crazy.
So he's AMC and Wall Street.
Okay.
Pretty wild.
I also found out that he hates Kohl-Slaw.
I mean, who doesn't?
I hate Kohl-Slaw.
I like Kohl-Sla.
He's the funniest guy so far.
He retweets a lot of memes.
He put one up that I posted here that's funny about, you know, 20s.
in the pandemic.
It's like a guy
in a hazmat suit surfing.
Pretty funny.
He tweets a lot of memes.
He's got a dog named Bentley.
I like this guy.
8.2 out of 10 follow score.
Man,
this guy's gonna be a star.
I think he has the best
Instagram of these 10 people.
Oh, you're right,
High Fitz.
It is Beats.
That's the thing.
So this is scandalous.
The founder of Bose
went to his high school
and he has a Beets SpahnCon
and his Instagram.
What is going on?
That's hardcore.
That's how is the boat?
Bose is getting their lunch
eaten from them in their home turf.
What do you do?
Boz?
Went across the country
to get Russell Wilson.
You can't even get
Kyle Pitts.
Oh my God.
Wake up, Bose.
Wake up.
What's this guy's name?
Amar Bose.
Oh, that's his last name.
Yeah, wake up, Amar.
What do you do with, Bose?
Oh, my, unbelievable.
Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Pitts.
I really like him.
This next guy I love, and I'll get into why,
but D.K., Najee, how do you say it?
Naji.
Nagee.
I'm actually not 100% sure.
Nage Harris.
I think it's Nagee.
We'll double-check that,
but regardless, I apologize.
Your comp kind of alarms me because this guy, the end of the comp's career was pretty bad.
Oh, but he was a baller in his prime.
Stephen Jackson, the only reason I put Jackson is because Harris is, he's kind of rare size-wise.
He's like 6-2-2-30.
You don't find many guys like that in the NFL these days.
Most running backs are like 5-10 or 5-8.
So he's like tall, very physical.
He's like a throwback running back, huge quads.
He's going to push Sequin and AJ Dillon.
I saw this on Twitter the other day.
Like, so...
A quad belt.
Yeah, he's got some big ass quads.
Very powerful, quick.
Um, he's not fast.
He's not like a home run hitter.
In fact, I don't think he has a home run run in his career, but...
Wait, what?
Like, I don't...
I think I saw this like, nothing more than 35 yards.
He's just not a home run hitting type running back.
But he's going to get you the yards.
Like, this might not...
It doesn't matter, in my opinion.
Um, because he's so physical.
He's so quick.
He can turn the corner.
Um, and he's a very good receipts.
So he's a five-star guy, former five-star guy.
In fact, I think he was one of the top overall prospects in the country coming out of high school.
It took him a minute to get into the Alabama rotation because he's playing behind like first round picks like fucking Josh Jacobs and Damien Harris, who is high fits his favorite player in the NFL.
You know, so he was like he took a minute to get going.
But in the 2019, 1,200 yards, 13 scores, added seven touchdowns through the air.
So he has 20 total that season.
And then 2020, 1,500 yards, almost, 26 touchdowns, and then 43 catches for 4 to 25 yards and four touchdowns.
He led the country with 30 touchdowns this season.
And his 57 career touchdowns for the tide is the most for any non-quarterback.
So he's obviously a really good player, prolific touchdown score.
He really improved and came on strong in the passing game this year.
And I think that's why he's a three-down potential first-round pick type player because he is going to be very,
very effective and Todd Gurleyish maybe in the passing game.
Like his ability to get out on screens is really good.
He can run vertical routes.
Actually, it kind of reminds me a little bit of Levi-on-Bell in the way that he can receive.
So the way that he can receive, the way that he can catch passes.
So Alabama's had like 10 NFL running backs in the last 10 years.
Where does he rank among the out-Bammer running backs?
That's a good question.
Out of all the Bama running backs, like even Mark Ingram who won the Heisman trophy?
The Mark Ingram-Hisman year to Najee Harris, where is Najee Harris ranked?
in that group.
I can list them if you want.
That's tough.
I mean, like, I've only been doing the draft guy
for a couple of years.
I think I like him more than Josh Jacobs,
though, just because he's more physical.
And Jacobs was a good pass catcher at Alabama,
but he just hasn't done that in the pros.
So, like, maybe that's me having a little bit of bias.
But Harris, to me, is a really good prospect,
and his ability to play on all three downs is, like, the big deal.
So I would say he's right up there with Josh Jacobs.
Who is the first-round pick?
I love Najee Harris.
as a person. He's a Cali boy. He's a Bay Boy. He's from Martinez, California, which is not too far from
where I grew up. He went to Antioch High High School, which was a high school that wasn't in my division
at California High, but Antioch and Cal High did play sometimes. I saw Marshaun Lynch was retweeting
something he said about representing the Oak Town type deal. Yeah, I mean, Antioch is the east
of Oakland, but they're both in the East Bay, so it definitely qualifies. Notable alumni of
Anioc High. Michael Samanick, the Academy Award winning motion picture.
sound mixer for Lord of the Rings.
Kind of cool.
And this guy named
Gino Marchetti,
who's a Hall of Fame
NFL player from the 50s.
He was the league's MVP?
Yeah, in 1958.
Gino Marchetti.
A man named Gino Marchetti.
Not going to lie. I don't know if I've ever heard of that guy.
Harris's Twitter bio,
Heart of a Lion, hungry as a hippo.
And then tags the Bay Area.
Love that.
Funny guy, active on social
media. He talks about betting on the
McGregor fight. It seems like a normal dude.
He's got a YouTube channel, but unlike
Baitmans, this one's got some subs.
12,000 subs. His videos get a lot
of views. He's got videos up there
in the hundreds of thousands of views. They're a little vloggy
which I don't, I don't mind.
It's like him and his car driving like,
what's up guys? Like hey to do the workout.
He went to a cryo chamber.
I really enjoyed that one. And it was just him
being very cold and they're like, relax.
And he's like, I can't feel anything.
And I was like, I actually enjoyed it.
He's a relatable guy. It seems really nice.
But unfortunately, like most vlogs
they're like 10 minutes too long every single
time. Should we be on this podcast, talk about things that are too long? Good point.
Fair. Fair response. He drinks Red Bull before workouts, which I felt was kind of interesting.
And in that workout that I watched him drink a Red Bull before, he was running on a treadmill at 22
miles an hour. So maybe he does have home run hitting speed. 22 is not. That's nothing to sniff out.
If he couldn't get long runs at Alabama, I feel like he can't do it in the NFL. I'm not going to
lie. Has anyone ever gone to the NFL and had more big plays than they did in college? I mean, probably,
but I think in this in this scenario
you're probably right he's playing behind like a bunch
of first round picks I mean I was gonna say Alabama
scoring like 48 points per game
it's like if we couldn't do it there you're probably not
going to do it in the NFL so anyway
socially active as well seems like a really nice guy
nine out of ten follow score he's my favorite so far
well I think Kyle Pitts wow
okay last guy sticking the running backs here
Travis ETN Clemson
who's the comp
Darren McFadden
but if you wanted to have like a
Yeah, because so the reason I did McFadden is
not only did McFadden run like a four-three
when he came out into the NFL,
but he also had kind of like this herky-jurkey, weird running gate
where it was like a lot of shoulders
and it just kind of looked funny,
but like the dude was freaking greased lightning
just really, really fast.
ETN is the same deal.
Very, very fast.
You're probably going to run in the low fours,
maybe in the four-threes.
Zero to 60 acceleration in the blink of an eye.
Like that's like his game is,
accelerate. He's not super
elusive in the short area. He's not going to make guys miss necessarily that way,
but he's so fast that guys just kind of like bounce off of him when he gets like even just a
sliver of space. He scored 78 touchdowns in four seasons for the Tigers, 70 on the ground,
eight through the air. He did a little bit in the passing game. So like he has that ability to be
sort of, I don't know if he's going to be like out in Camerra in the same way, but in that sense,
like a guy who can be very productive in the passing game and the screen game.
But he's just to me, like a home run hitter that is going to be early on in his career.
It's going to be like the guy of the defense has to be like, oh, shit.
We got to keep track of this guy.
Because if you give him like an even like the little bit of green, he'll take advantage of it.
I like ETN.
I said if you wanted to have like a little bit more recent comp, even though this guy might not even be that more recent.
But Chris Johnson, kind of like the same deal, like home run hitting type speed.
Not a big between the tackles type player,
but, you know, just lives with, like, chunk plays.
Is it bad that when I hear a player,
like, when you compared Harris to Stephen Jackson,
I was like, eh, and then you were like,
oh, Darren McFadden, I was like, ooh,
even though Stephen Jackson is way better.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know, Najee Harris is,
maybe Stephen Jackson isn't a great comp, but...
I just think Darren McFadden's a cooler name than Stephen Jackson.
Probably right.
I feel like we're forgetting how good Stephen Jackson was,
because he was on shitty teams this whole career, I think, and like, man, he was good, though.
So, E.N's pretty cool. I like him a lot. He's a sneaker guy. He likes playing Madden. He prefers
Raising Canes to Chick-fil-A. You never have Raising Cains? Oh, I haven't either. I love Chick-Fleigh, though.
I heard Raising Cains is good. When I drove to the office back when we went into an office and had
normal lives, there was a chick-fil-a in Hollywood Boulevard that, like, I stopped that at a red light every day.
Like, I had to stare into this chick-flay as I made a right, and I had to, like, look into the Chick-fil-A to
make the right and I had it to be like am I I I just literally it was like not today's Satan
I guess not Satan because they don't like Satan either but I just in my head I'm like not today's
Satan I'm not eating the Chick-fil-A and then I would go by but every few weeks it's like you know
you succumb so anyway if it's better if raising can't case is really better I can't imagine
because I love chick-fil-a there's my tangent
ETN lets you know who he is more than any other person we've covered so far like he's tweeting
about he's a vampire diaries fan like he responded that's awesome he he he he he
responded to like, are you team Stelina or team Delana? I don't know what that means. And he was like,
team Stelina, hashtag vampire diaries. And I was like, all right, cool. He's like, he participates in a lot
of Twitter polls and retweet games. He enjoys food debates. He's a fun guy. His IG's a little boring.
It's a lot of Clemson picks, but the other photos that aren't Clemson picks go pretty hard.
It's a lot of like him posing like in a really cool way. He's verified on TikTok, but he has no
posts. But I really like ETIN. I'm going to give him an 8.9.
just below Harris because Harris is a Bayboy and I got to give it to him.
I like it.
8.9 out of 10 follow score for ETN.
Yeah, you and Marshall Lynch, same part of the Bay.
Town business.
You got to represent the Bay.
Pretty much.
Man, I miss Marchand.
Damn it.
I like that he's got the TikTok verified even though he's no post.
The way to have the agency take care of that.
It's good representation.
But most of all, I like that he's himself because you know what?
The best brand is to be yourself.
There you go.
Good luck to Travis.
I hope he does well.
Good luck.
All right.
I think that's all we got.
That's all, yeah.
Only a casual hour in here.
If you want to somehow have you gotten this far and you still want more.
NFLdraft.org.com.
D.K. has all these profiles there and more.
Maybe we'll build in Craig's social media stuff in there too one day.
Yeah, maybe 2022.
2022.
We'll get it in.
All right.
Thank you, D.K.
Thank you, Craig.
Thank you to Travis E.T.N.
for the vampire diaries.
I'll check that out.
maybe I'll check out Raising Keynes.
Thank you ever for listening.
Lauren.
Lauren, of course.
Thank you, Lauren.
Oh, wait, can we talk about this?
I don't care how long this episode is.
I think somebody...
Somebody...
Somebody, T.K., am I right?
Somebody tweeted you saying, like,
what's the Lauren thing?
I don't get it.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, we're not going to explain it.
No, we have to.
No, we're not explaining it.
We'll never explain it.
We explain it, it ruins the joke.
I don't think so.
The first episode when we did it,
we talked about why we did it, we talked about why we
did it. Lauren Michaels is the head of S&L. He started S&L. And at the end of S&L, people always
thank Lauren. And we thought it was funny because D.K. or Danny Huyves would be thanking people
at the end of this, like rattling off thanks. And we thought it would be funny to toss in a
Lauren. Because it's the all time. Like when you hear thank you this, Lauren is the first name
that comes into my head. No one has yelled thanks to a name more than Lauren Michaels. And then they
always thank the band out. Well, I think Jesus has probably been thanked more than Lauren. I'm 100%
confident of that. Okay. Yeah, close. But anyone that,
Anyone that was born in the last 200 years, it's Lauren Michaels.
There you go.
And then D.K. has to list off a band, which, D.K., you've had some time.
Oh, yeah, yeah. Thank you to the weekend.
No, no, thank you.
I've heard his song a million times.
All I freaking hear is like the bu, blah, blah, but I can't do it.
But like, all I hear is that freaking song.
And you want to thank the guy.
I think he's been thanked plenty.
That's a good song.
Blinding Lights is a good song.
It's not a good song.
It's a take you hostage song.
It's a live in your brain.
I feel like I've been hacked.
It's a biohacking.
It's a good run song.
Check it out.
You listen to music when you run?
I can't listen to music when I run.
I just have to think.
That is terrible.
I could never run without listening to music.
No, it clears your head.
I come home.
Every time I finish a run, I have a revelation
somewhere at the end of the run.
And I just figure out a problem I'm dealing with.
I mean, I get that.
Occasionally I'll run without listening to things.
But if I want to like really get a good workout
and I'll listen to music, I'll run faster.
I should start running more.
Maybe me and Mac Jones can run a little more.
We'll drop a little weight.
together.
Cut out the bigbacks.
All right.
Thank you everyone who made it this far.
And yeah, thank you, Lauren, again.
We'll be back on Monday.
We'll be back on Monday.
