Starting point is 00:01:09 A part of our season preview for a season that is hard to preview, but we're getting going on it. Noel Priziani Staff writer, the runner joins us. Shield Kapadia staff writer at The Athletic joins me. We're doing overrunners. Guys, how you doing? Great. Although, sheel only joins you? He doesn't join me too?
Starting point is 00:01:30 I feel joined. No. Okay, well, I join us. And then she'll join. Okay, moving on. We all joined each other. We all joined each other. I don't know why I phrased it like that.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Sheal has the backdrop of the boat row houses. Boathouse Row. Boathouse Row. Come on. And whatever. Listen, I haven't been to Philadelphia in a while. He has that because his children created artwork and that's behind him and he thought that would be unprofessional.
Starting point is 00:01:56 I disagree. And yeah, I'm excited to get to overrunners. I'm excited because I don't think I've ever seen you with even a little amount of facial hair. And you've been like the most cleanly shaven reporter I've seen in my career. And now you're just coming in hot like the wolfman or something. I don't know. Yeah. I went from zero to 100. And there's a lot of buzz about it. And there's a lot of people talking about it. But I think that the most important thing is that I had no idea I would ever be described as the most cleanly shaven reporter in the industry. Yeah. And that's a label I'd like to shed now. All right. We'll get to
Starting point is 00:02:35 some stuff here. You know, there's the George Kittle extension that came through last night, which I think is a bargain, $15 million. We can bake some of that into the discussion about these actual teams. But this is a very simple episode. We're going to go in alphabetical order from Arizona to the Washington football team and we're just going to figure out who is going to be over and under their Vegas win total. Very easy. We will start with the team that I'm very excited about, but I'm not ready to commit to an over. It's the Arizona Cardinals. Sheila Capadia kick us off. I'm taking the over. I agree with you. It's a tough one. It's a team I am excited about. I really like it. 7.5. It's 7.5. It's 7.5. Yeah. It'd be helpful for the listener to know
Starting point is 00:03:16 what we're talking about. We'll mix it in the number sometimes. They haven't had a guess. They've never had any idea what we're talking about, but I'd like to start today, giving them some idea of what we're talking about. The Arizona Cardinal 7.5. Yeah, I think they have a chance to be a top 10 offense. You know, with Cliff Kingsbury last year, what I really liked is, is adaptability. Like the offense, by the time December rolled around was totally different than what they opened up with in September. Kyler Murray, I think it's reasonable, obviously, for him to improve. And then you add D'Andre Hopkins. So I see a top 10 offense, the defense.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I am much less bullish on. I think they've got a lot of question marks in the secondary really throughout the defense. But I feel like they can hit eight wins. And, you know, so I went with you over there. I love Kyler Murray. I think he is a future super duper star in this league. I think that I agree with you. Cliff Kingsbury's adaptability was really impressive.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I just think they might be a year away. And I think seven seems right for them. That division is impossible. And it's stacked. And the fact that the Rams, who are a talented team with a great coach or an afterthought to me, kind of says it all, I'm going to go under because I feel like seven is right,
Starting point is 00:04:23 but I also feel like this is a huge breakout season for Kylo and Murray. But I just don't see it getting to the level of previous breakout seasons like Lamar Jackson where he breaks out and all of a sudden, you know, he's playing in a second straight playoffs or or Patrick Holmes before that. I mean, those teams had great success because they had great infrastructure. But I don't, I don't think the Cardinals have that even if Kyler Murray balls out. Yeah, that's how I feel. It's, I love Kyler. I love Cliff. I love a lot of what's going on there. I think I'm tending to favor teams that I think are really good in the trenches this year, just because I think that's a little bit more consistent in all of the
Starting point is 00:05:01 uncertainty that we're dealing with. If it were six and a half, I would have taken the over. It's just a little high in that division. All right. Atlanta Falc at 7.5. This one is even harder than Arizona. Nora, we'll start off with you. I, I, I'm actually, I'm actually waffling on my pick as I ask your question, but go ahead, Nora. Yeah. So this is like absolutely one of the hardest ones. I went under there again in a really hard division. I love the continuity there, but it's just it's a little high and I have questions about the defense. Shio Capadio.
Starting point is 00:05:40 I'm going under. I think this is a team that in like January or February, I thought, all right, they make a few moves here and they're going to be back in the postseason. I did not love their off season and I don't love their offensive coordinator. I mean, Dirk Cutter has had four seasons with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, and they've never finished ahead of 10 in offensive efficiency. So they didn't fix their offensive line.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Their offensive line is still going to be an issue. I don't think bringing Todd Gurley is going to fix much with their run game. And the defense was better in the second half of last season. But I still see a lot of issues there specifically with their secondary. So I think it's going to be a tough season for them. Once again, they could be frisky. They could compete with some top teams on a week-to-week basis. But I think overall they're going to be out of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Here's why I'm going over. I've talked for months, and I've talked to people in the league. I've talked to people with the Falcons. I've talked for months about how this is the continuity, Occam's Razor season, all that stuff, and that if you have a couple of advantages, you can just hammer those over and over again until you win. And from my perspective, the Atlanta Falcons have Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, dynamic, efficient, offensive pieces that we've seen succeed in the past. they can get a little more complicated, even if they don't have a full training camp and pads and all that stuff, and they can score points. The defense, I agree with you. There's some, I'm not totally sold on some of these parts, but I think they have enough second contract guys who are talented if they stay healthy where you're going over. I see maybe nine or 10 for them. I understand the division is hard, but I like the pieces they have in a very weird continuity veteran ESP type season. Baltimore Ravens, Sheila Capati, 11.5. I love the over here.
Starting point is 00:07:24 I mean, it sounds too easy. You know, it feels like you're getting rope-a-doped or something with the Ravens at 11.5. But if you look at it, I was looking up how many teams typically win 12 games in a season? And typically it's about four teams in any given year, if you look at like the last decade. So aren't they going to be one of the top four teams? I feel good about it. I mean, they bring back 10 of 11 starters on offense. I think the defense has a chance to be one of the best in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:07:51 And if you go by the Vegas win totals, they have. have the fourth easiest schedule in the entire league. So I know there's going to be some regression. The offense is not going to be as good as last year probably. The run game is not going to be as historic. But I think even with all that stuff fake, this still looks like a 12 win team to me. Nora? Right there with you, Sheel. I mean, every pet theory I have about what's going to work in this season with all of the stuff that's weird about it, the Ravens are really well suited to do well. I mean, physicality. continuity. I just think it's a no brainer to, you know, expect Lamar Jackson. Now,
Starting point is 00:08:29 this doesn't necessarily mean the same statistical results, but I don't think he's getting worse, certainly. And yeah, I love the over here. The only thing that matters here is help, because the roster is stacked. They went out and added Callais Campbell with, I believe, a pick they got for a kicker last year. So they know how to build a roster. They know how to build an offense. You know how to build a defense. I love this team. I'm hammering the over. again, the only thing that can wreck this team is health. And I think in a season where everyone will have some folks missing games, you know, even if you put the virus aside,
Starting point is 00:09:03 it's just going to be a weird practice season and training camp season and all that stuff. And I think that even health, actual physical on-field health, you know, that's going to vary greatly from team to team. But assuming everybody plays and everybody's healthy, the Baltimore Ravens are, you know, Calhurt hasn't going 16 and 0. Yeah. I'm talking about it for six months. And I'm not ready to go that far, but I will say that that we're going to see a lot of wins in Baltimore.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Next offseason, like the day after the season's over, I'm coming in with a take like that. Because you got to own that the entire offseason. Like I can't come in now and say they're going to go 16 and O and I look like a fraud. So remind me, like send me, send me an email like at the end of December. Yeah, just be like, she'll, I hope you have your take ready for this off season. You got to come in hot. You got to own the 2021 off season. All right, Sean McDermott signs an extension.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Very well deserved. He's a very good coach. Nine wins. This one's tough. They're all tough. That's why Vegas. That's why every dad says that, hey, that's why they got those tall buildings in Vegas. They're very good at their jobs.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Nora, nine wins for the Buffalo bills. I just want to go on the right. My dad has never said that to me. I said it to Jason, I said it to Jason Gallagher over the summer and he said that his dad always says that. And so now I assume it's a big dad thing. Go ahead. I'm taking the over.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I think Sean McDormitt, smart decision to extend him. I think he's a coach of the year candidate. Not the greatest division and super good defense. I am on the record as being a Josh Allen enthusiast is, I think, the right term for it. Taking the over. Yeah, I'm also taking the over. I think that, again, I said this on Bill's pod the other day. I was on the fence while thinking against Bill Belichick before the opt-outs.
Starting point is 00:10:48 And now I think that's given me an easy out, so to speak. on finally saying that the Patriots will not win the AFC East. I think it's the bills in the absence of the strong Patriots team. And I think it's over. Yeah, they're set up really well. You guys nailed it. I mean, if we're talking about continuity being an edge, offensively, I don't know that there's an offense that has more continuity than the bills.
Starting point is 00:11:10 They return all five starting offensive linemen. And then you're just adding Stefan Tiggs to that wide receiver room. So I like the over. Yeah, I think they're going to be a really good team. Panthers, hard won Matt Rule first year coach, never been a head coach at the pro level. Teddy Bridgewater, good quarterback, might be a tough year for them. 5.5 wins. I'm going under. Shield. They're the only team in the league that has a new head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and starting quarterback. So it's like the opposite of what we've been talking about with the, it's just going to be tough. I mean, I'm bullish on Matt Rule in the long term. But man, the number of like returning players they have is, far the lowest in the league. I think they're going to have a top five pick next year. So I'm going under. I'm with you. And also, this is a long-term build there. I mean, they've got Christian
Starting point is 00:11:58 McCaffrey and they've got some nice pieces, but they're not going to be ready to compete for a couple of years. I like their foundation, but it's going to be a little bit. Nora? Right. Everything you guys are saying. I mean, I even think that Matt Ruhl is, I think he'll do really well in starting that build this year, even under really difficult circumstances, but just with the amount of turnover, the roster is just not where it needs to be to compete, you know, really tough division, probably a couple years away, but you got to go under. Yeah. Chicago Bears, 8.5.
Starting point is 00:12:34 This one seems like a trap. So I will say this. I had, so I went on Bill's pod and I said this on the NFL show a couple days ago and I said that there could be people in the NFL have told me that there could be more college voice is in pro buildings this year because they're just not game playing anymore. So why not call a Ryan Day? Why not call even a Chip Kelly, who by the way would be available in UCLA's instance. Sheila, you can call Chip Kelly up and talk about the 2013 Eagles with him. But there will be college schemes that are now have time to be explained to pro guys if there's no college football.
Starting point is 00:13:11 And I had a couple people tweet at me and say, what would happen if Lincoln Riley was drawing up plays for Mitch Trubisky? and now I'm fascinated by this. Could Lincoln Riley turn? I guess the argument is that Matt Negi is actually a really good offensive coach and he's not able to turn Mitch Trubisky into anything. So interesting hypothetical is a long way of saying under. I don't think Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky can get them to nine wins.
Starting point is 00:13:37 Cheel. I'm going to use some ringer parliance here. So I'm not buying a condo on Bears Island, but this morning I did email my real estate agent and said, If there's any listings, if you got any good deals, just send them my way. I might want to take a look, okay? Because I'm going under, so that was a bad sell. But I'm thinking about going over.
Starting point is 00:13:58 And by the time this season rolls around, I'm Mike over. The way I look at it is I'm not expecting them to have a top five, a top 10 offense. But can, like, Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky combine to produce, like, the 20th best quarterback in the NFL this season? I don't think that's crazy. I mean, so if they have a mediocre offense, I actually think their defense can be one of the best in the league. I mean, they sign Robert Quinn. They've got Khalil Mack. Akeem Hicks comes back healthy.
Starting point is 00:14:26 I think it's one of the best pass rush units in the league. And so I'm thinking about it. Just send me those emails. I want to take a look. I want to finish baseman. I want good lighting. But I'm not ready to put any money down yet. You said you didn't have a take like Cowherit 16 and O take.
Starting point is 00:14:43 And now you've unleashed onto the world that it's not crazy. that foals and chubisky could combine to become the 20th best quarterback in football that's not crazy yeah low expectations i just don't know what that does to have the 20th best quarter it gives them a me it could give them a mediocre offense and i think if you have the formula of mediocre offense and uh a top five defense then maybe you can win nine games norah let's get out of this conversation whatever whatever whatever's going on with shield we need to we need to out of his tailspin. Nora, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Absolutely not. So, like, you need a new real estate agent. They are screwing you. You can go over to Packers Island, and we're talking about half a win of difference for angry, motivated Aaron Rogers. And this, like, dilapidated Bears Island condo is asking eight. Just absolutely not. Bad schools.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Bad schools in Packers Island. Under. If it's not clear, I took the under. On Zillow. On Zillow, it's four out of ten? Yeah, I can't be sending my kids there. I guess I'm the only person who reliably looks at Zillow here. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I guess I'm at that stage in my life. All right. Cincinnati Bengals 5.5. I love Joe Burrow. I just think the pieces aren't there yet. I think that Burrow will, in that offense and the fact that they're going to be able to have the receivers to do what he likes to do and spread them out,
Starting point is 00:16:09 I think that they'll win some games they shouldn't this year, but I think that they're a year away from getting the over 5.1. five. Nora. Yeah, I'm with you. Five and a half is, you know, that's kind of a lot to win six games with new guy and, and, you know, a roster that's not really there. And I also, I'm just confused about why, I mean, Joe Burroughs fantastic, but why, given
Starting point is 00:16:32 the history of the Cincinnati Bengals, it's like, well, we got to do it this year. I just think that's, you can wait. You've waited long enough. Wait another year or two. I think I think there's going to be some patience to Cincinnati. I'm not, I'm not too worried about Cincinnati talk radio forcing them into something. Shio Kapati, any hope for the Bengals? Yeah, pre-pandemic, I was very bullish on them.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Now that's obviously thrown a little wrinkle to it, but I like the overt here. I think Joe Burrow is going to be fantastic right away. I think he's going to, with the way he moves in the pocket, how smart he is, he's going to be able to make up for shortcomings on the offensive line. get back their left tackle, who was a first round pick, Jonah Williams, who was injured all of last year. So, I mean, it's like another guy you're adding to the mix. A.J. Green was not part of this team last year. He's back. They were 0 and 8 in one possession games last year. So they, you know, they were terrible, but they weren't that terrible as they
Starting point is 00:17:28 should have been. So I think they can win six games and be a very fun team. So I actually really like the over on the Bengals. All right. Cleveland Browns. I can't believe we're doing this. 8.5. I'm going over. I just I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm going over. I think the Browns are going to make the playoffs. Nora. Oh. You and I can get a time share on Browns Island because I'm, I'm also going over. I mean, you and Bill coined Wack. Wins above kitchens. Wins above kitchens. You know, that's got to be good for something. And right, which I think we've talked about this on previous pods, but I'm bullish on Baker. I'm bullish on their offensive line being better. And, you know, I think Miles Garrett could have a really monster year. Um, and Lucy with the football maybe, but
Starting point is 00:18:22 I'm, I just think they'll put it together this year. Oh my gosh. I hate myself. I'm thinking of switching my pick because I wrote down over, but I mean, if you're a brown, I feel like Browns fans are so happy this year that they're not the hype team. You know, last year they were so uncomfortable with people saying good things about them and it's been different this year. But I've got the over also. I think it'll be right around there, eight or nine wins. But like you mentioned, Stephansky coming in against after Kitchens, Bill Callahan, great offensive line coach, two new offensive tackles.
Starting point is 00:18:53 And I agree with you, Nora, about Miles Garrett. I don't know what the defensive player of the year odds are, but I feel like he could definitely lead the NFL in the acts and just have a monster season. So here we are. But Browns Island, yes. The funny thing is, make sure you look for a guest house for me over there. Everything,
Starting point is 00:19:12 everything that we're doing now, we did last year. Yeah. Like we talked about Baker, but not only that, I, Robert Mays and I both picked Miles Garrett to win defensive player of the year.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Like everything, if we all just eternal sunshine of the spotless mind us. And, and now we're just, we're back. We're back. I feel good about it.
Starting point is 00:19:31 That's it. Okay. if it's in that lake, then we can sneak away to Canada if everything goes really bad. It's looking better already. That lake? Which lake is it? Sports are finally back, and the only way to celebrate their return is with Buffalo Wild Wings. There's no fans in the crowd, but that doesn't mean the real fans aren't at home,
Starting point is 00:19:58 cheering louder than ever from the edge of their seat. They can still get that sports bar feeling with wings from B-dobes. The only thing as exciting as sports being back is crushing boneless or traditional wings at home. in any of our 24 sauces and seasonings like original buffalo, wild, or Asians in. Starting point is 00:21:42 This one's tough. again, they're all tough. I'm going to go over because I, even though I am against any and all new coaches who have almost nothing, no time to install anything this year or build a culture or anything like that, there's so much continuity. Mike McCarthy's done it before. I think that they're like an 11 win team. Shil. Yeah, I've got the over as well. I mean, the things that make me nervous, number one is Mike McCarthy meddling because I don't think you need to in this offense. I think you just say, Kellyn Moore, run the offense. We've got all the same guys as last year. We just drafted C.D. Lamb, like, I don't know if they want to not tell Mike McCarthy about their
Starting point is 00:22:18 offensive meetings and their game plans and their practices and the reps and just kind of get them in on the side. But that wouldn't be a bad move. Now, I do think their defense could be bad. I know they just signed Everson Griffin, but I don't love the talent on that side of the ball. They lost a lot of good players. They've got a new defensive coordinator, Mike Nolan. So, it wouldn't shock me if they hit nine, but I'm betting on the efficient offense and going over nine and a half. So I'm extremely high. as I said on the Cowboys. But I was really surprised.
Starting point is 00:22:48 I am really surprised. Maybe this is just NFL media. But everyone just being like, wow, Everson Griffin just puts this defensive line over the top or whatever. It's like he was available on August 12th for a reason. I really like Everson.
Starting point is 00:23:01 I agree. And I think that that I'm a huge fan of that Vikings defense he was a huge part of. But let's, you know, they didn't sign Von Miller here. Okay. Like they've got a lot of question marks.
Starting point is 00:23:12 You know, Alden Smith, maybe that that's that's a thing. Dantari Poe, Gerald McCoy. Like there are interesting pieces here, but I don't, you know, obviously, Demarchus Lawrence is to Marcus Lawrence,
Starting point is 00:23:22 but I'm not, I'm not ready to crown much on, on the Cowboys defense. And he really wish there was the ability for them to have kept Byron Jones in some way, just, just cap-wise. But that's another discussion.
Starting point is 00:23:36 I'm still high on them, Nor Princiani Dallas Cowboys. So first of all, it was Lake Erie. Second of all, I'm going over on the Dallas Cowboys. I, you know, let's go. Doc's going to keep plowing the path forward to that eventual contract.
Starting point is 00:23:53 And 300 million dollar contract? He's just going to have, he's going to make, he's going to make the entirety of the Dallas Cowboys cap in two years. Yeah, it starts now. I love it. Let's go. I love it. Betting on yourself is, is an important thing. All right, Denver Broncos, I mean, I've heard a lot of Broncos hype.
Starting point is 00:24:09 7.5 is about right. I think seven seems right. So I'm going under. Shield. I'm going under too. I wish I were as confident in anything as Broncos fans are in Drewlock after five starts last year. And they did nothing to address their backup quarterback situation.
Starting point is 00:24:28 They have the worst offensive tackle situation or, you know, one of the worst in the NFL. Pat Shermer is not Kyle Shanahan. You know, I don't think he's going to come in and made this massive difference. Melvin Gordon, one of the worst signings of the offseason. So, whoa, the bus driver's back. Don't make me tap the sign. The bus driver. So if anybody missed this,
Starting point is 00:24:47 Sheel came on a couple months ago, and we talked about free agency, and he just destroyed, I think it was Corey Littleton. No, no, it was somebody else. Yeah, it was some other terrible linebacker.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And Shield just threw them right in front of the bus and ran them over. And so we call him the bus driver here on the ringer NFL show. And folks, he has got that big steering wheel in his hands right now. I actually think the defense could be a top five defense, but I think that offense is a year, certainly a year away with those young receivers.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I like the under. Norak, Denver Broncos. Under way too much hype too early. Always the telltale sign. Not a huge Drewlock person. Also, they play. I'm okay with Drewlock as like a decent young quarterback. I was just surprised at the level of hype there was last year.
Starting point is 00:25:36 I'm not writing him off or anything. I think he was fine. But it went from zero to 100 very quickly. Right. So I'm just speaking relative to, you know, public perception, which is influencing the betting market. I just think people have like, I mean, if, if Sheal is driving a bus, like Broncos fans are driving a high speed train that's going nowhere. Also, they play the chiefs twice, which I think is generally bad. And then the chargers are pretty good.
Starting point is 00:26:03 And the Raiders are going to be improved. It's not a cakewalk in that division. Again, I think, I don't think this is like a two-win team. I think seven seems right. The over-under just happens to be seven. That's all. All right, Detroit Lions.
Starting point is 00:26:16 I just, I, I hate, I hate this team. I love, I love Matthew Stafford and I, from a football perspective, I want him to flourish.
Starting point is 00:26:26 I just don't think it's going to happen this year. I'm going under. Six seems right. So over under 6.5, six seems right. Shield, anything with the Lions here? No,
Starting point is 00:26:36 I mean, I wish two years, I feel like after two years of a head coach being there, you would be able to identify a couple things. a couple things that you like to bout him or that he did well. And I mean, honestly, I mean, I can't, I can't identify anything. I mean, bad relationships with players. The defense has been one of the worst in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Matthew Stafford put the team on his back for eight games last year and made them look better than they actually are. So yeah, if Matthew Stafford can put together an MVP season and just put the entire organization on his back, they could go over. If not, I'm going under. So I'm going under. Well, on the bright side, Matt Patricia left New England
Starting point is 00:27:11 and then they built some of the best defenses they've ever had. So there's that. Norprinciotti, anything with the lions here. This team is ruining my life. Yeah. I went over.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Okay. I just, I just, I feel exactly the same way as that you guys do, but I just, I don't know, maybe this is wishful thinking. I really want Matt Stafford to have a complete and good season. And I feel like if he does, it'll get them to seven. wins, but I don't. I also hate this team. I'm so mad. I just don't. I mean, like, when we say
Starting point is 00:27:48 we hate the team, we don't mean like in the you guys hate whatever. Sports hate. I, I just mean I don't like watching them. I don't like reading about them. I don't like learning about them. I feel personally victimized by the Detroit Lions. I like, I like watching good football and don't like watching bad football. And it's as simple as that. I don't literally hate the Detroit Lions. I'm just saying, let's get going here, guys. All right, Green Bay Packers, nine wins. Nora, you had a take earlier about this in relation to another AFC North team. So you have the floor here.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Over. I'm just like full. I love spite. And I think it's coursing through Aaron Rogers's veins. And that is the type of like not analytical, not, you know, backed up by statistics sort of thing. Spite is quantifiable. Spite powers so much of our world. and I think it's going to power the Green Bay Packers over nine wins.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Chill. This is tough. I head under, but I am like the king of spite. No one holds a grudge like me. I mean, I remember things from 20 years ago. And so you're really like,
Starting point is 00:28:52 you know, tugging at the heartstrings here. But I'm going under because- Is there anything you need to work through from 20 years ago? Yeah, I mean, listen, this would have to be a very long.
Starting point is 00:29:01 You need to get a new card or whatever to make this. Yeah, my SD cards only got a couple more minutes on it. So we can't actually work through any of your spite issues. There's a trend on TikTok right now that's like, you can't hurt me, like, and then you list some sort of past trauma. And like Aaron Rogers would rule at this. I just feel like Matt LaFleur is not going to allow him to express his full degree of spite. You know, I think they're going to run the ball a lot. I think they're going to take the ball out of his hands. They didn't help him at all at wide receiver. Devin Funches opts out. So I think they're going to go under. nine and I think Aaron Rogers is going to be on a new team in 2021. Wow. I love that. Coming in hot. Houston Texans. I, am I missing something? I've said this a couple times
Starting point is 00:29:51 because their Super Bowl odds were quite low as well. The Houston Texans over under a 7.5. I find this to be a little bit ridiculous. They win the division consistently. Deshaun Watson is one the best quarterbacks in football. Even if Bill O'Brien is a bad GM and is sort of in some areas. He's still a pretty good offensive coach. I'm going way over on the Houston Texans. I thought this was a tough one because, yeah, you look it up. They've won nine or more in five of six seasons with O'Brien. Last year, though, was a bit, was pretty fluky. I mean, they were a minus seven point differential. They were certainly not as good as that record indicated. They've got new play callers on both sides of the ball. I mean, he's given up play calling
Starting point is 00:30:32 duties and they've got a new guy taking over for Romeo Cornell on defense. I think their defense could be one of the worst in the league unless JJ Watt is on the field. So this is a tough one. I couldn't decide, but I'm actually going under. I think they might hit sort of their bottom point of the Bill O'Brien Deshawn Watson era this season. By the way, I don't think I gave a Packers pick, and the answer is I think they win 10 games. So over. Go ahead, Nor. I also went over with the Texans. I just, I'm not picking Deshawn Watson to go below 500. Yeah. No. No. And again, I think the Bill O'Brien narrative, even though I'm responsible for a lot of it because he made some horrendous trades and doesn't understand value, like, he can still do some things well. That's all. So I think that
Starting point is 00:31:17 there are division contenders. I think the Colts are really good. But I see this is probably a double digit win team or close to it. All right. Speaking of Indianapolis Colts nine, easy over for me. I love the infrastructure, love the coaching staff, love the Phillip Rivers upgrade, love what he's got to, love the situation he's stepping into. And I just love that roster. not not a whole lot of thought that I need to get put into this. She'll worry on the Colts. Maybe my favorite bet on the board here is the over with the Colts. Offensive line continuity.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Easiest schedule in the league. I like the Rivers Wright combination. Add to Forrest Buckner. Terrible special teams last year with Minotary should come back a little bit. So yeah, I like the over. No, right there with you guys. You know, I think sometimes the, oh, well, the coaching staff worked with new quarterback. X at a previous stop narrative can be a little bit overplayed.
Starting point is 00:32:10 But I was, I had a conversation with Michael Pittman Jr. recently. And even he brought up how well Rivers knows that offensive staff. And I just sort of thought that like if a, if a rookie who's barely been in the building is already sensing that, then things have to be clicking pretty well. Easy schedule. Love the offensive line. I think everybody there is smart. Nine is not like a sky high number.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Let's go. Jacksonville Jaguars. four and a half. I think that you look at their draft, you look at some of their moves. I think the Jaguars are in this one for the long haul. I like Gardner-Menshu, and I think some of his numbers are really, really encouraging. But I'm looking at the under here, guys. Shield? Yeah, I've got the under. This is like one of the most sort of attractive jobs, I feel like, would be to rebuild the Jaguars. I mean, they're going to get a pick for in Gokwe, at least. They've got two first round picks next year. You mentioned it.
Starting point is 00:33:06 They've got some good young players. They had a good draft this year. I don't think it's happening this year. I think they're going to have another top five pick. But I am curious to see what direction the organization goes after this year. But I've got under four and a half. Nora, any any Jaguars optimism? I mean, I do have some Jaguars optimism, but I'm still taking the under here.
Starting point is 00:33:28 I have long term optimism for them. Yeah. 2020 optimism. Yeah. And I do. One, again, I think we've talked a little bit about sort of like pet theories for this season. I do have concerns about, um, you know, a team that maybe in a different year might be a five or six win team just sort of like going off the rails a little bit because
Starting point is 00:33:49 the sort of that X factor like team building camaraderie raw raw stuff is hard to replicate when everybody has to like hang out through plexiglass. Um, it's a good point. So yeah, no, F is just not their year. Yep. I'm, I'm an agreement with you. It's a hard year to do anything. If you're moving an NFL team from bad to good, good to great already is, you know, kind of like, you know, changing directions in the battleship or whatever. And I think that's going to be impossible this year.
Starting point is 00:34:23 I just think you're not going to be able to build continuity. You know, teams are already, it was already hard for teams to get together and practice in the offseason. even after kind of the post-2011 CBA when they cut down on off-season time. And now you don't get any of that stuff. I mean, it's going to be really hard to improve. Kansas City Chiefs, 11.5. I'm kind of in the Raven zone here, where I think that the Ravens and the Chiefs are just so much better than everybody else in the AFC
Starting point is 00:34:48 that I just think they're going to win a bunch of games. I don't think we need to overthink this. I'm going over, Nora, any reason to go under? No. I mean, yeah, if someone got hurt, if Mahomes gets hurt. I mean, I mean, Patrick Mahomes got hurt last year and they were fine. If he got more hurt. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, I just don't, don't see much. Uh, Shiel Capadia over under. Yeah, nothing great to add over. Unless Mahomes gets injured,
Starting point is 00:35:15 it's hard to see a scenario where they, where they go under. Yep, agree. All right. Las Vegas Raiders 7.5. Hmm. This is a good one. Shield. Uh, I feel. I feel. that every like preseason you need to have a take that you know is going to end up being bad, but you go with it anyway. And, uh, my take is that they're going to go over that they buddy, buddy, buddy, you got a bunch of them. Okay. Don't you don't need to stake this one out. You got a bunch of them. Go ahead. Thank you. Uh, I think they're going to make the playoffs. I think, uh, Derek Carr had an underrated season last year. They bring back all five starting offensive liniment. I love their supporting cast. They draft Henry Ruggs. Uh, they've got Darren Waller,
Starting point is 00:35:58 Tyrell Williams. And the defense is not going to be good, but man, they are a lot more talented than they were last year. So my big fear is that John Gruden is going to see two bad games of Derrick Carr, go to Marcus Mariotta. It's going to torpedo their season. I'm going to come on in this show. You're going to make fun of me. But you know what? That's the point of this exercise. Raiders, give me the over. So they won seven games last year. So to say they could win eight games is not inconceivable. We've talked about. out the fact that division is a little bit different this year. I think the charges will be better. They still have the chiefs there who were 12 wins last year and we expect to win at least 12 games
Starting point is 00:36:37 this year. I'm also going over. And I think I'm almost in the Bill O'Brien zone with John Gruden. And what I mean by that is that some of the moves that John Gruden had at the beginning, whether that's trading Mario Cooper, trading Colomac, which ended up being obviously a really good value pick, a value move. I think that his reputation as a GM started to creep into his reputation as a coach. And I think that Mayock is a good GM and I think John Gruden is a good coach. And I think that because of all the other stuff there, we started to forget that John Gruden is a good coach.
Starting point is 00:37:10 And I'm, I am buying with a lot of hesitation, the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, but I am going over 7.5. Nora? Over. Yeah. I mean, Derek Carr had a really underrated. or just not really talked about your last year. And it's a super talented offense.
Starting point is 00:37:32 You know, they'll score a lot of points and hopefully the other side of it just won't matter that much. And I think, I don't know if the playoffs thing is spicy, Shield, but I think over seven and a half is totally reasonable. Yeah, I'm stopping short of the playoffs, but I'm glad someone on this podcast just went for it. That's what we do here. favor's the bulge.
Starting point is 00:37:55 That's true. John Gruden is also going to crush the coronavirus. He said so. He is. He said that many times. We got to beat this virus, man. Los Angeles Chargers, 7.5. Nora.
Starting point is 00:38:07 So I went under. And it's such a talented roster, but I just am a little bit confused about the quarterback situation. And in some ways, I think the reason that I, ended up going under here is the possibility that they have a tough schedule. If it's not going well and they go to Herbert, they're not going to win a lot of games. So there's just, they're in this no man's land place, I think, in terms of where they're going for this year, that I just think
Starting point is 00:38:46 there's a really sort of clear narrative where, like narrative path where they end up actually kind of punting a little bit more than we would expect for a team that has a lot going for it. Also, they always get hurt. They do always get hurt. I will say this. I'll recirculate this take empty stadiums. They're ready. Shil Kapadia, Chargers. All right, I'm debuting this take here on your show. I think, yes. I think that the Chargers got rid of Philip Rivers one year too early. I mean, this is the year where they go out, they improve the offensive line, they get Trey Turner, they sign Brian Bulaga, they sign a bunch of 30-year-old free agents. They've got a roster with a good quarterback. Chris Harris.
Starting point is 00:39:33 That could Chris Harris to compete for a Super Bowl. Instead, they're going in with a 32-year-old Tyrod Taylor, where I'm supposed to believe that in the shortened off season, they're going to duplicate what the Baltimore Ravens did with like a 22-year-old Lamar Jackson. By the way, Greg Roman is in Baltimore. he's not in Los Angeles. I think this is going to be one of the worst offenses in the NFL. I totally agree with Nora. It's only a matter of time until Justin Herbert comes in after they lose a few games. And he's not going to have success as a rookie.
Starting point is 00:40:01 And I think they're going to go under seven, even though I am bullish on their defense. I love the completely stakesless take of the charters would have been really good if they hadn't made a massive decision that they actually made. That's a really good match. Why was this the offseason to get rid of to part ways with Philip Rivers. If this was your plan to sign all these old guys and build a great roster, like if you're going to go the other way, go the other way. What are they doing?
Starting point is 00:40:26 I love this. I didn't think I would have any company here. Thank you. I'm going under. All right, Rams nine. This is a good one. I like the under with the Rams too. This is one of my favorites, actually, of all these bets. I mean, they get rid of Todd Gurley and all of a sudden their offense is going to be good again. I don't see what they did to improve their offense. They're expecting better offensive line health. They get rid of Wade Phillips, one of the best defensive coordinators of the minor. I heard some hype for Staley. They're a new defensive coordinator earlier this week. And I got to tell you, Wade Phillips is pretty good. Yeah. What are the odds you're improving from Wade Phillips? And then you lost a bunch of talent. I mean, Dante Fowler, Corey Littleton,
Starting point is 00:41:09 and Wade Phillips, all those guys are gone. I think they are an under. I think they're a 500 or maybe even below team. whew, Nora. Under Sean McVeigh, stop drinking rosé on your porch. You got a lot of work to do. I loved, I loved, uh, Sean McVeigh using every opportunity to take off his shirt. He just become the Christiana Ronaldo. I mean, it was like 60 seconds into the episode.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Come on, at least wait, you know, give it 15 minutes or so. He and Cliff Kingsbury just like trying to out thirst trap each other over the course of an entire NFL season is like going to be one. Wait, but did Cliff Kingsbury actually, try that or he just took a nice photo of his house. No, he said he staged it. Yeah. Yeah, and I saw that. But I mean, like, I just, I don't think, is he walking around without a shirt on?
Starting point is 00:41:55 Let's actually not going to be discussion. Let's not get canceled. Let's not get canceled. Okay. Rams under, moving on. That's my number one, my number one goal in life is not get canceled for a Cliff Kingsbury first trap discussion. That's it. Rams under? Rams under. We're not
Starting point is 00:42:13 touching anything else. We're not touching. I'm going, I actually want to, since it's nine, I'm going to say it's a push. How about that? I think they win nine. You're ripping my takes. Come on a push. Pick aside. Yeah. You can't bet on that. Boo. Yeah, you just don't bet. All right. I'm going to go, I'm going to go under. I think they win eight games. Starting point is 00:43:13 theory, so to speak, with who's going to be their quarterback, how their roster develops, how many games Ryan Fitzpatrick starts. Sheal will start with you. I feel like I've just been crushing every team. I think because it's lunchtime and I haven't eaten the, the, the mood has changed. But I like Brian Flores a lot. I did not, I did not love their offseason. They've got new play callers on both sides of the ball for new starting offensive linemen. I think they'll be better. I think they
Starting point is 00:43:38 could be frisky. Again, I really like Flores, but I can go under six and a half. I'm with you. I love that team. I love Flores. I love what Tua will become. I like Ryan Fitzpatrick is a stopgap, but I think almost, they're a much better version of what the Bengals will be. But, but, what I said about the Bengals holds true here, because they're going to win games they shouldn't win. They did that last year. They beat the Eagles. They beat the Patriots.
Starting point is 00:44:01 They were competing where they shouldn't have it. It will be that on a bigger scale, but I don't think they get to seven wins. Nor? Yeah. I'm in the same place. I think, I mean,
Starting point is 00:44:10 I think they will, I think Tua will play unless it's like a health and readiness thing. And I love Brian Flores. It was so hard for me to not go over here. Just because I would like to see them be good and I think eventually they will be, but it's, it's just tough circumstances for that to happen. I will say the, I'm sorry, the argument for it is that that division with the Jets and with a hobbling Patriots team might have, and remember, they beat the Patriots last year
Starting point is 00:44:42 when they had one of the best defenses in football and had Tom Brady. So there are wins in play that, that might, we might not be considering. But I, I think it's probably, I think six wins seems right for them. All right, Minnesota Vikings, nine wins. I really like the Vikings. I think that they and the Packers, it'll be very, very close to see who wins that division, but I think that they probably both win double-digit games.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I'm going over with the Vikings' Shield. I thought this was the toughest one on the list. I went back and forth a million times. I have so much faith in Mike Zimmer and Gary Kubiak, just if, like, you're saying, offensive play caller, defensive play caller. I don't know that there's a better pairing in the league. But, man, losing Stefan Diggs and looking at that offense and the firepower it loses and then turning over so many new players on defense, I ended up going under.
Starting point is 00:45:33 I think they made smart moves for the long term. It's sort of a three, four year window. But I think this year, they might take a little step back and win eight. I went under two. I feel like eight wins is right. It's just, it's, it's weird because I trust this, the top. Can I ask you a question? Who's going to, who's going to win this division? The Packers. And you think that they'll win double digit games? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:58 And that nobody else, you think that they'll kind of run away with this a little bit. Yeah. Okay. All right. So, all right, spell out your Vikings take. I trust the continuity at the top, but I think it falls away pretty rapidly. Sure. And I think they're going to be playing a lot of teams that they're going to have trouble
Starting point is 00:46:18 stopping with their defense. Yeah. I trust them. I think it's a weird year. Again, it goes back to the continuity kind of thing. I think you have, I think losing Stefan Diggs is big, but still have Adam Thiel.
Starting point is 00:46:29 I think Kirk Cousins is good. I love that coaching staff. I'm going over. All right. This is the one. New England Patriots. Nine. Nora Prince,
Starting point is 00:46:41 do you have the floor? I went under. It's been a roller coaster with this team. I was very low on that. them until they signed Cam Newton. And then I was leaning back towards thinking that they would win the division. And then, you know, totally respect all of the players who chose to opt out. But they got, it's just a fact that they got hit harder by those decisions, guys like Dante
Starting point is 00:47:11 High Tower choosing not to play this year than any other team in the league. And they had the best interception rate in the league last year on defense. I think that'll regress somewhat. They lost so many core pieces, both through free agency and then through the opt-outs. They have a very hard schedule. I really cringe, as I say, all of this just because in a year of so many curveballs, Bill Belichick is just the guy that you would want to handle all of that. And, you know, for what it's worth, if we're talking about the possibility that there will be some college coaches who hop on and help on.
Starting point is 00:47:52 about various staffs. I would look at the Patriots because they have a relatively thin bench of assistant coaches right now because a lot of guys have left for other jobs in the last couple of years and Belichick has great connections at the college level. They should be so well equipped to handle the particular challenges of this year. But I just, the roster is not that great. And I don't think that I can just say, Cam Newton, presuming he wins that job, which I think he wins that job, which I think. he will and Belichick is enough to go over. I can't wait for week four when Nick Saban is their assistant quarterbacks coach. It's going to be wild.
Starting point is 00:48:34 She'll, she'll nine wins. Yeah, this is tough. I mean, I don't, uh, there, there's sort of a uncomfortable feeling of going under a Bill Belichick coach team that is only nine wins. It's not like they're at 12, but I agree with what Nora said. I mean, if this were coached by like a replacement level coach, what, would this number be? It would be like seven. Look at this roster. Look at what they're trying to do. I mean, a 31-year-old Cam Newton coming off of two shoulder surgeries and a foot injury,
Starting point is 00:49:01 and I'm supposed to believe he's going to be this dual threat monster running for 700 yards. I mean, if they're able to implement that in a shortened off season and keep him healthy, then I will be very impressed, but I'm skeptical. And with that supporting cast, I mean, I think it's terrible. You know, I don't see the case for that supporting cast, the guys around him at all. You lose your right tackle you lose your offensive line coach uh your your defense gets decimated the secondary is still very strong so they're going to be a competitive team i think they're going to hover around 500 i will not be shocked if they hit uh 10 but uh if i have to make a pick here i'm going under i'm going to go over i'm going to go over but only just i think they're a 10-win team i just can't imagine bill
Starting point is 00:49:44 bellichick not winning double-digit games and i'm just going to roll with that new Orleans saints 10.5 I think this is kind of quick and easy. I'm going over. Shield. I've got over as well. Yeah, they've won 26 games the past two years. If continuity matters, who's better to, to kind of use that than Peyton and Bree. So I think they're going to be really good and win 11 or 12. Nora? Over.
Starting point is 00:50:08 The more I wrote about them today and the more that I started to think about that roster. And, you know, they've been nails in the draft for going back, the better part of, you know, five years now, all those guys who grew up in that system with that coaching staff, with Breeze, I mean, they're, they're the team. If your theory is strongly about continuity and an experienced roster and talent, I mean, that's, that's the pick. Yeah, I agree. The only hesitation there is just the age of the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:50:43 And at some point, as studies have shown, at some point there's a cliff. I just don't know when that is. but on the other hand, the second best team or the first best team in that division, depending how you look at it, also has a old quarterback. So a lot of cliffs, that's all I'll say,
Starting point is 00:50:58 a lot of potential for it. But I think both the saints in the box will be really good, and I don't think the clips happening this year. All right, New York Giants, 6.5. They add Freddie Kitchens and Jason Garrett to an already loaded roster and front office. Shio Capadia, 6.5. I don't hate their offense.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I think they could be more fun. than anticipated. I would draft all their guys in fantasy. I think they may have the worst defense in the NFL. And so like you mentioned, brand new coaching staff, uh, terrible defense. I'm going under six point five. I'm going under as well. And I don't, I again, I think they'll win games that will surprise people. I don't think Daniel Jones is a tire fire, but I just don't think that they're ready from a roster standpoint, Nora. Yeah, I think Daniel Jones has almost gotten so much flack that he's like a little underrated at this point. But there's some real disaster potential with this team because the defense, because of
Starting point is 00:51:54 the, what's a polite way to say this, the sort of popery of coaching personalities in the mix here and, you know, a pretty inexperienced head coach. So I worry that if things, this is one of those teams that I'm looking at going like, if this starts to go south, it could snowball. Yeah. It could go real south. They could go to that point in the Q-West. It's the world's America's most southernmost point.
Starting point is 00:52:26 Do you know what I'm talking about? There's a huge marker. Yeah, yeah, there's a huge marker. Giant season might be going down, might be going down Highway 1 right to that. That was my best friend's profile picture for a long time. New York Jets. Seven. Greg Williams Day said Jamal on is my.
Starting point is 00:52:45 get bored in his defense. And, uh, at the, excuse me, at the Cilocks defense, because they don't use him and they won't use him in ways that are interesting, I guess. They won't disguise them or whatever. Uh, what Chimal Adams will be doing is winning and making tons of money. So, uh, we'll see if you miss is Greg Williams as far as that goes. Sheel, New York Jets. Anything there?
Starting point is 00:53:10 Assuming a week, week one starts on time. I'll put the over under at September. 19th at when Adam Gase is blaming his performance on the shortened off season and the unique circumstances around 2020. I mean, tough schedule, six new starters on offense, one of the least talented defenses in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:53:29 I think they finish with the top five pick. They move on from Adam Gase and maybe they keep Darnold and build around him or they move in a different direction. I like the under. Other than that, though, things are going to be fun. Yeah, it's going to be a great season for him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Nora. I also took the under. I think really the more compelling competition is which team between the Jets and the Lions players who move on from say, like make more passive aggressive comments about or just like straight up aggressive. Yeah, not passive. Yeah, not passive. I mean,
Starting point is 00:54:06 it's not. Like sometimes you see this a lot when people leave the Patriots. They're just like they launder their comments through like, layers of passive aggressiveness. Meanwhile, Darius Slay is in Philadelphia just being like, yeah, man, we get to be human here or whatever the hell he's saying. Like, there is nothing passive aggressive about anything anybody's saying from when they leave those teams.
Starting point is 00:54:27 You're right. You're right. Yeah. When Danny Amandola left the Patriots, it was like, Gronk commented on his Instagram, like, go be free or something really generic. And everyone was like, oh, they hate the Patriots. And yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:41 I went under. Did I say that? I think, yeah, we all did. I mean, you didn't even have to say it. We didn't have to do this podcast when it comes to the Jets.
Starting point is 00:54:51 Imagine if I were like over. Warren Sharp was on here last week. Warren Sharp said that he was most confident in Jets under last week on this very podcast. Philadelphia Eagles. Chil Capadia has the row boat boat boat house. And is it row boat boat house row? Boathouse row. You got it in your background.
Starting point is 00:55:10 What do you got for us? 9.5. Yeah, this is tough. I haven't actually loved their offseason and I was under for a while, but I look at it and just compare it to all these other teams when you have sort of the head coach, defensive coordinator and quarterback in place who you feel pretty good about. It gives you a high floor. And so I think they need like either Deshaun Jackson to stay healthy for 12 games or the first round pick Jalen Rager to be really good right away. And I think if one of those two things happen, then they look like they could hit the 10 win mark for me. So I think the defense will be okay. I think it'll be a little bit better than average, but I'm going over here. I am too.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Good coach, good infrastructure, good quarterback, good roster. I don't, good being the operative word, I don't think they're a Super Bowl contenders, but I think that they're a double digit win team. I'm going over, Norfolk and Seattle. I also went over. I sort of, I was very tempted by the under here just because I think somebody like Jalen Rigger needs to really hit, and that's a tough ass just to have a little bit more dynamism in the offense. But there's enough here. I feel like the floor is pretty high. I agree.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Probably the best way to put it. Pittsburgh Steelers, 9.5. I like the Steelers a lot. And it's a lot of the same stuff I just said about the Eagles. Good roster, a healthy quarterback. back. I'm, I'm in on this team as, as 10 wins. I think that they'd be division contenders if it wasn't just for the Ravens, um, being just the jargonauts that they are. So I'm, I'm in for the over. Nora. I went under. And this has huge potential to be a really,
Starting point is 00:56:49 really, really, really bad pick because given how good their defense was last year and if, if Ben's healthy, if the offense is good, we have, we have shield on here. We have shield you from any criticism on bad picks because whatever you say, she'll grab the head. Headlines. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's good. I love, love to be shielded.
Starting point is 00:57:10 Human shield there. Yeah, exactly. Human shield. Shield. Whoa. All right. Let's go. There's branding potential.
Starting point is 00:57:18 But yeah, I mean, if everything, the thing about this is that if everything kind of hits right, they could go to the Super Bowl. Like, super easy. I just, I do not. I do not want to put my eggs in the Rothesburger basket at this point. his career and at his age. And I think even though the sort of narrative around them is that he's healthy and ready to go, I, I don't trust him to play an entire season of games. And they, I cannot believe they did not find a better backup quarterback this
Starting point is 00:57:51 offseason. It's like unfathomable to me. And I think if, you know, if they lose him, then you're just back in the disaster zone. So I went under. I'm 100% on board with everything Nora just said. I mean, that is exactly how I feel. I think they have a Super Bowl ceiling.
Starting point is 00:58:10 If things hit, they're one of the teams that can win the Super Bowl. However, a 38-year-old quarterback coming off shoulder surgery with four starting offensive linemen who are 30-year-older and zero-zero backup play in a quarterback, which I'm with, you know, I mean, that's like has to be one of the biggest head scratchers of the entire offseason. why they did they did not just get a mediocre backup quarterback that could keep them afloat. I mean, they won eight games with the worst offense in the NFL last year statistically. And what was it, Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph.
Starting point is 00:58:43 I don't know how you go through a season like that and then don't address the backup quarterback situation. So ceiling is there, but if I'm, you know, picking one side here on what's more likely, I'm going under nine and a half. Sam, let's go 49ers, 10.5. Shield. I'm going over. I was looking into like the Super Bowl hangover stuff and five of the last 10 teams that lost the Super Bowl won at least 11 games the following year. And I think all but one had a winning record. So there's not like this huge drop off.
Starting point is 00:59:14 I mean, it's tough to get back, sure, but you're still usually going to field a competitive team. I just have faith in Kyle Shanahan with that offense. And they've got a lot of continuity on defense despite losing DeForest Buckner. And I think one last underrated thing is they had really bad injury luck last year. Like, you know, a lot of times when you see the teams that made the Super Bowl, they're the healthiest teams in the league that year. That was not the case for the 49ers. Their depth really got tested. They overcame it. That impressed me. And so I think they're going to be really good once again. I'm with you. I'm going over, Nora. Also over. Yeah. The injury thing is huge. I if there was one thing to sway me the other way is that I'm a little bit concerned about their secondary, but I'm more concerned about their secondary two years from now. and how they're planning for that than I am right now.
Starting point is 01:00:04 So over. All right. Seattle Seahawks, nine. Chiaoka Potti used to cover this team three years ago. Yeah, I mean, there's like a million reasons why they should regress and not go over. But at some point, I just like threw out the numbers and simplified it and said, if you have a top two, top three quarterback who is never missed a game and who was in the prime of his career, what's like the floor of that team.
Starting point is 01:00:31 And so I'm just going to go over. If it were nine and a half, you know, it might be a little more concerned. Nine, you get the push if they would nine. Are they going to win eight or fewer? I mean, I don't think so with Russell Wilson and sort of the infrastructure there. So didn't love their off season,
Starting point is 01:00:45 but I would still go with you over here. Nora? I'm in the same place. I think, I mean, I think Russell Wilson is kind of getting into that zone that Aaron Rogers hit in his prime. and when he, you know, really had a lot of experience under his belt where it's just like, it's kind of like he's just going to stop throwing interceptions like ever.
Starting point is 01:01:06 I really just, it should be illegal to bet on the Seahawks. Yeah. Because they're so weird. But in this scenario where we have to, I think they're a 10 win team at least. Yep, I'm with you. I'm going over. Tampa Buccaneers 9.5. I'm going over.
Starting point is 01:01:25 Tom Brady aside, a competent quarterback. wasn't who didn't throw 40 interceptable passes last year and 30 actual interceptions, I would have gotten that, that team to, to competence. And so I'm, I'm going over here. Nora. Also over. I'm glad that the projection has them one win below the Saints because I am, I think the Saints win the division, but I think they'll be good. Yeah, I've got the over too. I think one of the best front sevens in the NFL defensive the defense was better than it seemed last year because they were always going on the field after James Winston interceptions and offensively.
Starting point is 01:02:06 They're in shape. They're in shape. It's just going to be a different world for Tom Brady thrown to Evans and Godwin. I mean, I think he can decline and he probably will decline at this age. But man, having those two receivers is just going to make his life so much easier. I think they're going to win double digits. Yep. I'm with you.
Starting point is 01:02:23 All right, Tennessee Titans last year's AFC championship participant, 8.5. Interesting. They always go nine and seven. Even last year when they made the, the, when they were leading by double digits, Patrick Mahomes in Arrowhead Stadium. I think that they're going to go over this. I think that nine and trying to win seems right. I'm curious, Nora, if you agree. I totally agree. So it's, I'm maybe waffling on this slightly now because as we talked up the Colts, I started to be even sort of more of a believer, but I, I'm leaning to where. picking the Titans in this division. I think they have such a, again, I think I'm leaning towards those like really physical
Starting point is 01:03:07 teams to do well this year just because as as other teams are kind of ramping up and getting up to speed after having lost so much training time over the off season, I do feel like those are the groups that are going to be advantaged a little bit. And I think the Titans, you know, so many yards after the catch in that offense, such a good infrastructure. AJ Brown, baby. AJ Brown. And obviously, you know, implicit in this is that I don't think the Tanna Hill area last year was a total fluke. I don't know if he will light the world on fire in exactly the same way. But really, if you break down what they were actually asking of him, he was in such a good situation that I think it's reasonable to bet on that outlier year being
Starting point is 01:03:57 somewhat replicable, I wouldn't always want to bet on a running back being a continued really big part of an offense after just taking on such a huge load the year before. But I also just don't think that it's possible to break Derek Henry. I think he could probably go forever. So I'm just really bullish on the Titans. I think they'll win like 10 games totally over. Yeah, I think there are valid questions. You know, Tanna Hill, obviously, he's not going to be Joe Montana again.
Starting point is 01:04:31 But it's a question of how far a step back he takes. You know, he still could be very good. Derek Henry, 400 touches last year. They lose their defensive coordinator. So I have questions about him. But, man, I really like Arthur Smith, their offensive coordinator. Like, if he were on a deck, like with a shirt off drinking rosé, I think an owner would have hired him as a head coach last year.
Starting point is 01:04:54 I mean, I thought he was one of the best play callers. in the NFL last season. And what he did to, like, maximize Ryan Tannahill's potential and the potential of that offense was just really impressive. So because of that, I like Brable. I like the personality of that team that Nora mentioned. They're just, like, tough, physical.
Starting point is 01:05:11 It seems like they're going to be competitive every week. And so I've gone back and forth, but I'm going to go with the over on that. Washington football team, 5.5. Wow. Under. I mean, I've given no. thought to the Washington football team as a football team in a very long time.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Oh my gosh. It sounds like you haven't either. No. Let's get your take on that. Yeah, not a lot. I mean, I think they just don't have much talent at all offensively. And so I think their offense is going to really struggle. I think Chase Young could unlock their defense.
Starting point is 01:05:44 They have so much talent on the defensive line, but they haven't dominated. I think he could be the final piece and their defense could be competitive. But I don't see it. I mean, on average, about seven teams win five or fewer. game. So are they one of the worst seven teams? Like that makes it really easy for me, uh, to go under here. Yeah, under as well. Nora, you've covered this team. Um, another, you've covered this team long enough to know, to go under. I covered that team for five months and did not cover a regular season game. And you saw all you needed to say. I still am fairly confident
Starting point is 01:06:18 that, um, there's some work to be done. Uh, I, I will go with the under. I will say they're in that Chargers zone of the no fans thing is not going to be the most startling difference in the world here, but they just don't have the roster. I like Ron Rivera. I think oddly enough, there's hope, which hasn't been the case in a long time, but under. Also, did you pick for the Titans? Yeah, I said 9-10, Winston's right. Oh, okay. I thought you got so startled by Sheel bringing up shirtlessness in Rose, which we're trying to steer clear of in general, that you just moved on. Now I'm going to get canceled for the Titans will win 10 games.
Starting point is 01:07:02 That will be the take I get canceled for it. All right, guys, thank you so much. This has been enlightening. Please don't bet any of this stuff unless it's fading shield, which I actually endorse. I agree. I'm driving four hours to Vegas right now and fading him for all 32 teams. Thank you guys so much.
