Hello and welcome into the Ringerverse.
Ringer's Nexus podcast feed for all things fandom.
Welcome back to Mint Edition.
And happy New Year to you all.
It's a once-in-a-while podcast.
But all the latest fandom, you just can't live without.
I'm Steve Allman.
I'm Joey Dideron.
And it's a brand new year and a brand new time for a bunch of content
that we're going to be getting towards and ranking some of the best.
and potentially worse that this year would have to offer.
But before we begin, we're going to be getting into some programming reminders
and tell you what's coming up in the next week.
This Friday, House of Bar will be giving you their look into Percy Jackson and the Olympians
the latest few episodes.
They've been enjoying it.
And on Monday, button mash returns with the most anticipated games of 2024.
Ben is going to be guiding you through some of those as well.
And the Midnight Boys are going to be giving you.
their instant reactions to the entire season drop of Echo next Wednesday.
Jomey, are you excited for that?
I'm excited for Echo.
I'm excited for Percy Jackson enjoying that so much as well.
I do have a question for you, Steve.
Yes.
You're trying to do host cadence in 2024?
Trying a new host cadence in 2020.
Yeah, man.
You don't sound like this normally, man.
You're trying so new.
Am I putting it on?
It does not sound organic?
I'm sorry.
I'm not saying it don't sound organic.
I'm just saying it sound different, man.
Like, you're different now.
I don't know.
I'm trying to have like an energy.
I'm trying to like, you know, bring it back.
We just had the week off.
It's the holidays.
We're back at it.
You're trying to bring the funk back.
I get it.
Your boys hopped up on cold brew.
All right.
We're bouncing.
All right.
Lock in.
We're not going to talk about any sports teams.
We're not going to talk about anything, any disappointments that you might have had
during the holidays.
I'm not trying to bring any of that.
I said that I said that I wasn't bringing that up.
I'm not mentioning anything that.
I'm saying that I'm not mentioning.
mentioning that.
Everybody was joining it.
You know what I'm saying?
We're just out here chopping it up.
We have nothing to discuss in that realm.
But what we're going to do today, what we are going to discuss, is taking a look at our
confidence pool of 2024 and where we'll rank some of the most exciting things that's
going to be coming out for this year.
But we're not going to be alone joining us once again.
Ringer staff writer.
Daniel Chin is on the program.
Welcome, Daniel.
Hey, guys, got to be back.
Thanks for having me back here.
Daniel, how is your holidays?
What are your new year's resolutions?
Hmm.
Holidays were good.
You know, I'm feeling good about the Knicks right now.
I know we're not talking sports, but...
This is a big, feeling solid after this.
Big successful trade.
Big trade.
You know, I love RJ.
I love quickly, but it's all right.
We don't have to talk about this.
I know the Lakers had something the last night, so we don't have to go here.
See, we said that we're not bringing that up.
We said that we're not bringing that up.
I'm calling HR right now.
This is harassment.
This is abuse.
This is textbook bullying.
Well, we're going to quit the cyberbullying,
and we are going to give you a look at some of those exciting things that are going to be coming out this year.
So, with the new year in movies and shows, newly dawning upon us,
we are finally going to talk about some of the stuff that we're most excited for with a confidence pool.
And this is going to be ranking our confidence if a new person,
property, TV show, etc.
If we think it's going to be good, if we're confident that this is going to be something
that's worthwhile or worth our time, we've got a lot of things to get to.
So, we are going to be ranking from 1 to 10, some of the biggest debuts of the year,
10 being the most confident that this is going to lock, we are going to enjoy this,
this is going to make bank at the box office, people are going to be talking about it,
or to one, this is going to be a dud.
This is going to be absolutely nothing.
So, guys, any questions?
Any things that we're looking to get off of our chest before we get into the year that is to be?
We're talking like our personal feelings.
Personal feelings.
This has nothing to do with intuition.
We have no insider knowledge or information.
We're going off gut instant.
All right?
We're feeling our chest.
Yes, exactly.
All right.
Whatever's rattling inside of our hearts, when I say the name, say echo for some reason.
you would rank that as how confident do you feel that that's going to be an enjoyable experience for you.
That's what I'm talking about here today.
All right.
Are we ready to go?
Let go.
Okay.
I'm actually going off the reservation because we are on the eve of Echo coming out next week.
And I'm generally, and I'm genuinely interested in what you guys are wanting to say.
What is your confidence in Echo, Daniel Chim?
Hmm.
I'm going to put out like a six out of ten right.
now. And I'm hopeful that this show is going to be good. But just after 2023 for the MCU,
I'm just not really confident in anything that they're doing right now. I loved Loki,
but just everything that's going on in the movies especially, but also just behind the scenes,
everything with Jonathan Majors and beyond. It's just the, it's not the time from all right now,
you know, and their level of confidence in Echo. I'm not even that sure that they're that
confident either. They're completely switching their whole release format with this, dropping all
episodes at once, like early in January.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Again, I'm hopeful for it.
I think there's a lot to like about it with, you know,
going for the mature audience for this, more violence and trying to switch up from a little
bit of the formula.
I think there could be really good things and I'm hopeful, but confident, I don't know.
I got to go with the five.
I didn't mind the trailers, but the conversation around the MCU, like to Daniel's point,
they're a little muddled last couple of months, really.
So going in like, man, it's a Marvel project.
Like, yeah, like, I'm going to be there no matter what.
But I can't sit there and get excited.
Can't get too high.
You know, you got to keep my expectations, you know, as the MCU has changed.
So I have my expectation.
So I got to stay with it.
The thing, though, and this hurts me.
You know, I don't know if you guys saw the new trailer they dropped this week,
but it goes in the kingpin.
And it's all about how, you know, in Daredevil, how, like, he was living.
his best life and all that.
And now everybody in my mention is like,
see, Jummy now Daredevil's Canon, but Hage the Shield is not.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
So now I got to like now also go in and watch that too,
my chest, bro.
This is just not been a great week for me.
2024 is starting off, starting off horrible.
Restart the new year.
Exactly.
2025 is going to be my year, man.
2025 is it, all right?
We're ending, take it at the snooze bar right now.
I think I'm with you, DC.
I'm at a six for this as well.
I really want this to be good.
I don't know why I'm exceedingly hopeful
for something like Echo to kick the year off for the MCU right now
because we're only getting one movie that we'll talk about in a minute.
But I don't know.
I just, I don't want this to be an absolute dud.
Marvel's like been middling a little bit for a while.
And I understand that making this like a binge drop right after the holidays with only five or so episodes, it's not looking great.
But I just, I don't know, I want this to be just something that's fine and good.
And I just, a lot of Cox deserves so much better.
Yeah, agreed.
I mean, they're just doing so many different things for this release, too, that it's just different.
Like being under the Marvel Spotlight banner now, releasing them all five at once, like we said.
I mean, I don't know.
Again, like, I just don't know how confident Marvel even is with this.
Yeah.
And I think it's going to be going to be said once we get to see, like, the Marvel movie
slate for the latter end of this year in 2025 that maybe this, like, smaller soft reset
is going to be good.
But I, again, we got some hope for Echo.
Like, I'm not, I'm not all the way out by any means.
All right.
Let's move it on.
Coming out in February this year, February 6th.
second is director Matthew Vaughn's follow-up.
You might know his work from Kingsman and Man from Uncle.
Argyle.
It's about a best-selling writer that is writing about espionage, and some of that story comes
to life, and she's getting new inspiration for a book.
We've seen these trailers.
They star Henry Cavill, Duelita, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, an electrifying fun cast.
What is our confidence that this is going to be a fun time?
Jomey.
You seen that trailer?
Yes.
You seen Duleleap in that trailer?
All right.
All right.
12.
12.
No, we're a midnight meter mode right now.
No, but no, seriously, though.
Seriously, though.
This is the type of movie.
I don't know if you guys have seen this.
It's Sam Rockwell.
It's also in it.
And it's with the home girl from the singing movies.
What's it called?
The singing movies.
There it is.
Yeah, Santa Kendrick.
It's perfect.
Anna Kendry.
Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick
They play the hitman's boyfriend or something like that
Uh it kind of like that
This one that's weird
It's Bryce Dallas Howard too isn't it?
Bryce Dallas Howard in this movie
Yes
Oh yeah yeah yeah
And that movie is dumb and silly
But it's fun right
And I think this movie has the same
Opportunity to do that
And I really like again
You put like a spy anything in front of me
I'm gonna be there
So for me I gotta give this an eight
Yeah
You're at least gonna try it out
I'm gonna try it out
I'm probably gonna like it
Frankly, I don't think most other people are going to enjoy it.
But like, this movie is like almost tailor made for me, frankly.
It's, you know.
I love, I love when there's a, like, night and day, some of my favorite movies all the time.
Really?
Yes.
I love that movie.
You take one person who, like, really knows what they're doing?
You take the other person who's just like, what, just along for the ride?
And they have to, like, work together and figure it out.
And then on top of that, they fall in love?
Come on, man.
That's me right there,
especially with the Kingsman,
even the ones that weren't good,
even the Kingsman,
which ultimately wasn't great,
but Kingsman 2,
first Kingsman,
like incredibly enjoyable,
ridiculously over the top and silly.
But I don't think I could ever be mad at it.
And if that's anywhere close
to what this is going to be like,
I'm in.
Like, this is an eight for me as well.
Eight for you as well,
okay, I'm pretty much on the opposite end of the scale here.
I'm at like a three or so.
because...
Hey, you don't know ball.
Don't know ball.
I mean, it's just like, I'm kind of like...
I tapped out of the Kingsman movies pretty early on.
I enjoyed the first one.
But I don't know.
I'm just kind of like tired of the same kind of thing with these movies.
Like, I enjoyed like the first, like, kick-ass movie.
I liked layer cake a while back, but...
There you go.
Daniel Chin, anti-fun in 2024.
I think it would be even lower if not for duly being in this movie, too.
So, wow.
I don't know. That's what gets it.
It probably would have been a one, if not for two of a people.
Kerm's got some thoughts on that, but we're not going to be, we're not going to be mentioning that in the chat.
Duolipa, Henry Cavill, just beautiful people in this movie.
Okay, these movies is full of beautiful people.
I know, they don't really put a beautiful people in movies anymore.
Right?
Did it the last Kingsman movie, like Tank and everything too?
I mean, I don't know.
Again, I didn't see it, but.
No, last, wait, wait, wait, you mean like the Kingsman.
The Kingsman.
The Kingsman.
The singular king, the one king's man.
The one king's man.
Just one of them.
There was a king, there was a man.
That's all that was in.
Yes.
Yeah, no, that movie, yeah, it was not, yeah, it was not, it's not it's not it.
I don't know.
Again, I don't really know.
So my confidence is low, though, you know what I mean?
I thought like Kermm wants to say something.
Kerm has something to say.
Get it off your chest, Kerm.
I have nothing to say.
It's in the, it's in the chat.
We'll leave that there.
We don't need to bring that up in public space.
You're good.
This is getting editing out.
Hello, Ringiverse fans.
I regret to inform you that due to the initiation of Deep Shadow Protocol,
this bit had to be edited out of the pod.
I know.
I'm just as disappointed as you are.
Thanks as always for listening.
And the Midnight Boys, PooPew, we'll get back to you shortly.
All right, so a three from Daniel Chin,
Gargile, tough stuff.
But now we've got Jomey's number one arch nemesis coming in February 20.
Second.
That is Netflix's Avatar, the Last Airbender, the long-developed, much anticipated and kind of tumultuous production coming from Netflix, finally debuting in 2024.
Avatar The Last Airbender, Jomi, what do you think?
I have to say five
because while I am...
You're a coin flip, really.
Like, you just don't know that.
I have to say five.
Okay.
Because anything less is just not true.
Like, of course, I want to see my favorite characters.
Sure.
One of my favorite stories in live action, you know, doing their thing.
However, I can't be more excited and get hurt.
You know, I can't put myself in that position to open my heart out to love and then get crushed.
You know, I've been hurt before.
Here's the thing, Joe.
Me.
Right?
You will be hurt again and you are ready to be heard again.
Well, I mean, I've said this, I've said this on multiple podcasts.
If they start messing with like the stuff that like made Avatar what it is, you know,
you can like change, you know, things on the peripheral.
But you start like against the core characters and like stripping those away and then making
characters do stuff just because it, oh, it'd be fun on TV that I'm out of there.
Then you think, you think Chuck on whatever's terrible.
Oh boy.
Oh my gosh.
You haven't seen anything.
It's ultimately like, yeah, I would love to see it, but I can't get too hype because I've seen what bad avatar life action is.
I'm not doing that.
It can't be worse than that.
It can't be worse than that.
It can.
You think so.
Famous last words.
You think you can drop the ball that hard?
You say that.
Well, the Lakers can have a worse loss than they did two weeks ago.
Look at what he does to himself.
Look at what he Jomi does to himself.
And then they play the heat.
The heat goes on.
And nobody, nobody forget.
get how to run offense against the zone.
You can't run offense against the zone, brother?
That's enough.
That's enough.
Daniel, what do you think, man?
What's your excitement level, bro?
I'm right with you right there at five out of ten there.
Just because, like, I think the second that the original Avatar creators, when they left
the production is, like, when my confidence just.
Cannot be a good sign.
It's so, it's so tough.
I was so hyped for this to, like, be done the right way.
And then they dropped off, and I was like, oof, this is a massive red flag.
And then it's the quote from them being like,
we're sticking to animated films and we got four in the,
in the tank that we're working on right now.
Yeah.
And I was like, okay.
They're just like, I'm out.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
Like the cast,
I'm excited about some of the cast members in it.
And again,
I'm hopeful,
but I feel like Netflix live adaptations as well as just like doesn't really
have a good track record.
There isn't too much to be confident about.
But this is more just like wishful thinking on my part,
you know i i would say so i think that their netflix and like the creative team behind it is trying to
come in with as much goodwill as possible with all of these things like get it getting as many
good cast members that you can probably throw at iro's cast great they got the original
cabbage man which is what a great novelty casting uh is for uh i just i really really think
that this could be
something cool, but I just
yeah, it's hard.
I'd go six, just a little bit higher
than 50-50.
I've got a little bit of faith in it, but I'm just, you know.
Yeah, I think that's fair.
Yeah.
Okay, cool.
All right.
Moving on.
Boy, oh boy.
Valentine's Day.
We'll all be pulling up with our sweeties.
We'll be hitting the theaters.
and watching what is sure to be one of the highlights of our year.
Madam Webb comes out on Valentine's Day, February 14th.
Sony's long-anticipated Spider-Man film about Madam Webb,
that much-beloved character.
We're studying Arakins in the Amazon.
Guys, what's your confidence level here?
It's a two.
Let's be frank.
Yeah.
I don't know.
And then you're like Sydney, sweetie,
approved.
I don't even think, like,
it's not even that.
I just,
Dakota Johnson,
you know,
they got Adam Scott,
you know,
I'm not there.
They could have cash anybody,
brother.
The man,
just like Madam Webb.
Imagine if we got like a,
like,
a 90-minute movie on,
like,
what's,
what's like the most boring character?
in comics or the most like oh like we got a if we got a movie on like mayday parker like a 90
mini film it could be fun right it could be if it wait no it's just like guess who's look who's
talking but with like little baby maybe parker you know what i'm saying like we just like
took every single comic character and said like oh they're kind of spider man related boom
let's get an uncle ben a prequel movie did you see that adam scott is rumored to be uncle ben
that's see and that's what i'm talking about like what are we like what are we doing i can't handle
that. I'm not ready for, I'm not ready for that narrative.
But how was the uncle Ben
if Spotted Man, right, is he's supposed to be the first
Spider-Man, but like all the
most of the cast are paying like other
spot like Spider-Woman, you know, Anya
Corazon, others like Spider-Spotorri-Girl, like all that stuff.
How does that also, you know what I'm saying? It's a bunch of mumbo-jumbo
that I'm not really here trying to understand, frankly,
because it's confusing as hell.
and so yeah that's why like it's it too
Steve DC am I tripping?
Not at all
I'm right about with you
I had it as a three but I could easily have put it too
I mean I only put that to you because like
I'm like at least curious to see like the live action
like take on on Spider Woman being in this
Yeah first time yeah yeah yeah
So like that's that's really about it
But I mean just like my my expectations for
any of the Sony live action Spider-Verse movies at this point
are all gonna be just
that's mainly it.
Yeah, that's mainly it.
If most studios,
I would still be like,
I don't know who,
Adam Webb, sure.
But like a Sony?
Nah,
you're going to have to show me.
I'm going to have to see it.
I'm going to have to see it.
I've said this to DC before,
before we started recording,
but like I've never in my life
seen like a better played war of attrition
by Sony to hold on to the rights of Spider-Man
by constantly, by sheer concentrated power of will,
make more and more Spider-Man property movies
just to hold up, from their cold dead hands,
will you take Spider-Man's rights away?
We're making these movies.
We're making Craven.
We're making Madam Webb.
We don't care.
This is a three.
But here's what I'll say.
I did make the prediction on the Midnight Boys
that we were going to be, we would enjoy one of these movies,
if not Craven the Hunter, at least Madam Webb,
in the same way that we could possibly enjoy a Venom 2.
And I think if we walk away from one of these,
I don't think it's going to be this one.
If we walk away from one of those,
I will be happy like that.
But that being said, it's still a three.
It's not looking great.
But we studied Iraq and it's in the Amazon,
and that's going to be excited.
Do I have some bad news for you, buddy?
What's up?
These movies are going to stink probably.
I think just like Morbius,
it's going to be more
mean potential than anything else.
Just off of the trailer too,
like the spiders in the Amazon.
Okay, I love me.
Here's what I'll say.
Here's what I'll say.
I think both Madam Webb
and if we're grading it on that curve,
I think both Madam Webb and Craven
will be more memorable than Morbius.
I think that.
I do think that.
But again,
bars in hell.
The bar's not too high.
All right.
Let's go to the next one.
March 1st.
Van predicted this is the biggest movie of the year.
Dune 2. To Dune.
First of all, what do we get? What like more fun names do we have to call it?
Dune to Dune to Electric Bigaloo.
You know, Dune 2, the Spice Girls Take New York.
Dune the tune.
Dune too hard.
There you go.
Dune too hard.
Dune too much.
Dune 2. Part 2.
Dune it and doing it and doing it well.
Yeah.
Steve, where you are, man?
Thank you, Kerm, for that.
This is like a nine.
I don't think I could get...
I don't think it could be more of a sure bet that this will be good.
I think it's the only reason that it's not an absolute 10 is because I think that...
I would have to see how they end part two as to whether or not they want to tee it up for more Dune stories
because the lore in Dune is very deep and very rich and very dense.
I don't know if this is something that Warner Brothers wants to, like, heavily serialize.
and make the next big IP push for them.
That being said, I have the utmost confidence in Danny Villeneuve
and that great cast.
It's going to be awesome, no matter what.
I'm just curious to where the story's going to end after two
and what they might do after that.
So that'll be a nine from me.
I got to give this a nine as well.
I didn't know what to expect from the first one,
but I was locked in, my guys, House of Rackus.
Exactly. Now you know what the voice is.
The voices. I still can't do the voice, though.
Yeah, but you know what it is.
You know, uh, yeah, I was, didn't know what to expect, but I fell in love with the movie.
And so when they pushed it to 2024, I was hurt, my chest.
Where am I going to get my throat singing from? You know what I'm saying?
When I'm going to see?
Yeah.
When am I going to see Timothy Shalemi, right? The big, big giant worm, you know what I mean?
Like, what's going on? And so now that gets a lot.
kid, I'm ready, man.
I will be there no matter what.
No matter what. No matter what. If you get Christopher
Walker to say Quisak's harrack,
like, this is at least
a B plus for me.
Come on.
Daniel, what do you think?
I think this is my lone ten of
the whole list. Your only
10 here? Is your only 10?
This is my only 10. I think,
if not because I think it's going to be
a fantastic movie, I just know it's going to be
successful. This is definitely going to be
one of the most successful movies of the year
financially. And it's just
this is something that I feel like is going to bring
people back in a theater, especially for the first
half of the calendar year. And
I think even delaying
it too has just made me more excited for it
as they just put out more trailers for it
too and just how they're
already adding onto what was already a stacked cast.
I'm very hyped for this movie.
Interesting. Interesting.
And it's wild to think that the most
successful movie of this coming year is going to be
the hardest of sci-fi novel adaptations
that like is long in the tooth for its fandom
and it's like kind of had like kind of middling success
from the 80s adaptations and all of that.
And now it's a fucking rage.
It's a craze.
Zendaya's perfume commercial all over again.
Round two.
Let's go.
Yeah.
All right.
Let's go to the next one.
In March,
I don't know,
why I was tickled by this coming out again.
It's probably, I think, well,
not coming out again, but like them
going back to the well in this franchise.
Kung Fu Panda 4.
I'm going to be sat
for this. I don't know why,
but I really dig on Kung Fu Panda's lore and
I'm just going to come out and say that like, I think
this is going to be, this is like an 8 for me on the
confidence that this will be fun. Probably
because they brought Ian McShane
back and
I'm just,
I'm really, really excited to see what they'll do again.
I don't know.
I did Kung Fu Panda.
Guys, prove me wrong.
I like Kung Fu Panda.
Kung Panda's cool.
I'm going to give it a six.
Because, frankly, I thought they stopped making these movies.
You just didn't know that they did this until maybe the fourth one.
I thought like, they had to, like, they made the three movies.
They had the Netflix show.
And I was like, all right, cool.
But they saw, what's it called?
They saw Mario Party or the Mario movie.
And they saw Jack Black.
They're like, hey, bring him back.
Bring it.
Yeah.
It's running back.
one more time.
Run it back one more time.
We need that J.B. Kaching.
Last dance.
Last dance.
One last ride.
But, no, I mean, the original stuff is great.
Again, Jack Black.
It's incredible in a Mario movie.
He was great as Poe in Kung Fu Panda.
So, I mean, yeah.
I mean, again, oh, they're making the Kung Fu Panda four?
Cool.
Yeah.
All right.
Yeah.
I'll be there.
We'll see it.
You know, again, you know, there's a lot of stuff on this list where I'll be set,
no matter what.
Kung Fu Panda is not one of them.
them, but that doesn't mean, I don't, I don't think, I don't, it could be like, again,
there's a good quality of films there.
So, like, yeah, I'll be there.
We're going to have to see it, though.
Like, yeah.
But it'll be cool.
Yeah, I feel that.
I'm right at there with six, too.
Like, honestly, I, I knew that they were making this, but I didn't even see the third one.
Like, I kind of just, I guess I, we're, like, I'm the only real Kung Fu Panda head here.
Oh, wow.
I love the first two movies, but I just felt like it didn't need to keep.
going? I don't know. I was shocked to learn. I was like reading the summaries of it. I was like,
Brian Granson is Poe's father? I was like, where did this? Where did this franchise go? Like,
I was like, what's happening here? It's like, damn, they're still doing this. Okay.
Yeah, they're still doing it. So like, but I saw the trailer for it. Like, I like,
they're bringing back the villains that this seems like this is going to be the end of Poe story,
like him looking for a new dragon warrior. I'm like, at least curious about it. I don't know
if I'm going to go go back and rewatch the third one or if I'll be there opening night of the movie,
but I'll see you this one.
No, damn, come on, man.
Come on, D.C. Lock in, brother.
This is a little ridiculous.
The last one came out eight years ago.
What are we doing?
Okay, Chuck.
Okay, Chuck.
The first one came out.
I was like 10 years old.
Some movies don't need sequels.
But to get to four on Kung Fu Pandas
just a little insane.
That's all I'm with you on that.
There's a lot of movies on this list
that are like, I don't know if we needed the sequel here.
You say that.
Okay, The Incredibles came out,
2004.
They didn't get a secret
14 years later.
Hold on.
No, no, no.
That's different.
We're going here.
We're going here.
We're going here.
We're going here.
No, bro.
There's levels to this.
There's levels to this.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
All I'm saying is when the bag
comes a calling,
the studio comes a knocking, brother.
None of that rhyme.
None of that made any sense.
But when you got to make money,
you go back to the well, you feel me?
Right.
When you got to make money,
when you're like, hey, we just,
hey, we rebrew with this,
we can get a bag.
How long has it been?
It's been 45 years.
Who cares?
Let's get this money.
You know what I mean?
Like,
you need to be in the Lakers locker room
to give pep talks,
Jeremy.
You really don't.
I'm cussing everybody out.
Everybody getting cussed out.
Except for AD.
That's my boy.
Anybody else though?
Everybody else?
Everybody else in trouble.
All right.
I think the other thing for me, too,
is just seeing the trailer
and seeing that the new dragon warrior
is voiced by Aquafina.
I feel like every animated movie at this point
has like Aquafina or Chris
right.
Wait, wait.
Okay, wait, reassess.
Is Aquafina?
Are you serious?
Yes, she's in it.
Aquafina is the voice of the Dragon Warrior.
That's a five.
Apofa five.
Chame me to a five.
I thought it was going to drop lower than that.
No, change me to a five.
Take a word off.
Maybe you won't be sad.
Every movie is, it has to have like Aquafina or Chris Pratt.
Is she a bird in every movie?
I don't think she's a bird in this one, but I could, I think she's like a wolf or something.
A wolf, okay.
He's like a wolf.
Listen.
Because she was a bird in, uh, well, I was called a,
A little mermaid.
She's a bird in that
migration movie.
Oh, yes, she was.
So, all right, yeah,
no, I'm a facade for me.
No.
Okay.
Well, here's the thing.
The devil works hard.
Aquafina's agent works harder.
This episode is brought to by Viori.
When it comes to close,
that score high in both comfort and style,
Viori is my MVP.

you won't take this IP from us because apparently they just need to keep making them.
Ghostbusters the Frozen Kingdom. I'm going to start this one off. This is a three. I'll be honest.
I never cared about the Ghostbusters ever, ever. Ever.
Like, I've seen the first one.
It's cool.
It's funny.
Second one is the exact same movie.
That's fine.
Whatever.
And everything else has been Mids.
It's been bad.
I really haven't cared about this.
I don't know how people keep signing up for this and wanting to know that, like, this is the IP that we want to keep recycling and keep coming back to.
It's the oddest well to me.
Like, I never really cared.
about the Ghostbusters ever,
and it baffles me so often
that people keep trying to bring it back.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I am with you, kind of,
because I don't have the,
you know, hatred in your heart
that you do for Ghostbusters.
It might be.
I don't know.
I'm Don Draper.
I don't think about it at all
until it's brought to my face.
And I'm like, why are we doing that?
Why are we doing that?
I saw the first one.
Yeah.
I saw the second one.
And then every so often I'll go back on YouTube and I'll be like,
dunna,
dunna,
you know,
the theme song.
Other than that,
it's not really something I'm locked in with.
Now,
this one,
this is the continuation with the Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things and Paul
Rudd and Carrie Coom.
They're out here doing their thing.
I got to give it like,
I mean,
I got to give it a one.
Like,
I'm not really locked in on this franchise.
Right.
as much as most people are.
And, I mean, for them, we get a sequel for the other one.
Sure, cool, I guess.
But ultimately, it's not really, it's not where I'm at.
So, yeah, I can't say I'm like driving and thirsting to go see Ghostbusters
Frozen Kingdom.
I'm just not.
Yeah, I'm right with you guys.
I'm in between at two out of ten.
I didn't even see the first one.
I think it would be a one, but I'm just surprised that they're even getting a sequel here.
so it must have done well enough to earn a sequel.
That's the thing.
I'm like,
what's this?
I'm surprised by that.
Yeah.
So,
like,
that's the only way my lack of confidence has wavered is just the fact that
we're getting another one of these.
Exactly.
Like,
like,
I'm curious as to like,
what's the return on investment for this IP?
Like,
it can't really be worth it?
I don't know.
Like,
I just,
like,
it doesn't feel like,
like the brand penetration doesn't really resonate with me at all for Ghostbusters,
ever.
And I don't see the appeal.
it's just a head scratcher for me
I don't know
And yet I think it made a lot of money too though
So that's at the same time
It's there's there's somewhere out there
I guess you got some ghostbuster heads out there
Yeah, I mean it's it's it's it's an IP right
That's the thing about IP
Yeah
Is we sit there and we're like
Ain't nobody gonna watch this man
And people go man remember that movie from a long time ago
I'll go watch it again
You know
It made over $200 million
The box office
Now the budget was $75 million
Right so like that's not
terrible.
That's pretty good.
It made like, what,
two and a half times its budget,
which is like what you're supposed to do, right?
Like, solid.
Yeah, but ultimately,
I mean, if people like it,
go ahead.
I don't want to sit here and be like,
yo, Ghostbusters is terrible.
It stinks.
Of course not.
If that's what you'll jam,
go rock with him, man.
I'm gonna be,
I'm gonna be supporting you.
Ultimately, yeah,
it's not for me.
All right.
This is a big question mark
coming up in April.
Amazon Prime's
Fallout series
based on the hit
video game
of same name
coming out
this spring
guys I genuinely
want to know
what you think
about this
because I'm
kind of up in the air
here
yeah I'm very much up in the air here
too this I think
was the one I struggled
the most with
grading it
and I think that's because
I'm like
really cautiously
optimistic about this one
but I really just don't know
I'm at a 6
for that reason
I just Jonathan Nolan and Westworld
It just does not
Inspire a lot of confidence in me
I really liked some of Westworld
But not all of it
The first season of Westworld is perfect
Yeah the first season
Yeah for sure
The first
What about the rest of it guys
What about that?
What about the rest of it?
No
What about the rest of it?
No I'll have to say that this is like
God the potential for this show
Is so high
It's so high
Because you could get
kind of an amazing balance of like
a serious dramatic weightiness
like you saw in The Last of Us last year
while also giving us like a lot of levity
quirky characters and a lot of fun discoverability
like the greatness about that game came from
like discovering how wild that world was
and how full of like
like silliness and
humanity and like a lot of great things.
And that's a lot to balance.
And I think the trailer seems fine and fun,
but I would love to see this elevate itself,
but it's very hard to do.
So I would probably give this like a six.
Six is solid.
I think I'm also at a six as well because I have no,
like not,
I don't say no interest,
but I haven't been locked in on the Fallout games.
I know Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 76, you know, the whole Fallout 3, Fallout 4, the whole thing.
Like, I understand the world, but I've never, like, sat down.
I'm like, hey, let me play this game, you know.
So when the trailer dropped, I was like, okay, I know Fallow, let's see what it looks like.
And frankly, the trailer was kind of fun.
Yeah.
You know, it was a lot more fun that I was giving the show credit for.
And so, yeah, I'm going to check it out.
I would like to see what it looks like.
It seems fun.
They got Walton Goggins in Crazy Me.
makeup, looking mad, silly.
You know what I'm saying? So yeah, I'm going to be there.
I'll be there for sure. Okay.
Yeah. All right. The tough thing about adapting
this game, too, though, is just my
favorite part about playing these games was just how open world
it was and just getting to explore it and
getting lost on all the side missions.
And it's, when you have such
an expansive story in game with
so many different choices that you can make to,
it gives a lot of
potential and opportunity for a TV series
to adapt it, but also it could
just run the risk of going off course
in a way that might not be what the fans want to.
So we'll see.
All right.
Makes sense.
Makes sense.
I hear you, brother.
Let's bring it to April 12th again.
Godzilla versus Kong.
What?
Double dipping.
Double dipping.
Same day.
Godzilla versus Kong, the new empire.
This is, as you'll see,
Godzilla is in pink lemonade mode,
and they put the infinity gauntlet on Kong,
and they're teaming up to fight something.
just ridiculous.
We all enjoyed Godzilla versus Kong
back in the day,
back in the day,
it was like two years ago,
but we,
it's 2021.
Remember in 2020 when that feels like 10 years ago?
It was literally like maybe like no more than,
no less than three years ago.
Right, but it was like in the midst of COVID
when HBO Max was like pumping out their yearly release on max
because theaters were dead.
And like we got Suicide Squad then,
we got as well as Godzilla versus Kong.
And now we got Wonder Woman 1984.
Boy that ruined Christmas.
Oh, man.
Boy did it.
But now we have Godzilla versus Kong the new empire.
Jomi, are you excited?
Give this an 18 billion.
18 billion on the confidence that this will be good.
Okay.
Let me tell you something.
All right.
I want to be.
on a level of the audience here, everybody listening.
Right.
It's gonna be just us right now.
Just me and you right now.
Will this movie be good?
Probably not.
It's probably gonna be terrible.
It's probably gonna be awful.
Okay, the last one wasn't that good either
for being frankly about it.
I enjoy the,
you know what I'm saying?
How much time did you enjoy spending
with 11 and Paperboy, my boy?
It wasn't with Paperboy.
It was with, oh, God.
You know what?
I'm not gonna lie.
It was fine.
It was fine.
Right?
Like the human element of it stinks.
Okay, it's never enjoyable.
I'm never like, let's go back to the humans of it all, right?
Right.
But, guys, Godzilla and Kong, running tag team, running duos, I will be there.
I will, I will, I will be there no matter what.
Here's the thing.
It's got to be, come on.
Like, be serious.
Like, you get like the two big, you know, kaijus, the two most famous kaijus,
putting together. It's going to be fun. It's going to be fun to watch.
Frankly, if there's got to be a cut of Godzilla versus Kong where it's just Godzilla and
Kong, that movie's like a 10 out of 10. Sure. You know what I mean? When they team up to fight
Mecca Godzilla, special, right? I can't wait to see what they got cooking up here.
In terms of the human stuff, they got, they got my boy Dan Stevens in there now with Rebecca
Hall and they're going in the middle earth and they're trying to be like, yo, what's going on?
Middle Earth?
That's this
It really seems like it
Is it not?
No, it's not middle of earth
It's hollow earth
It's hollow earth
It's the middle of earth
It's the middle of the earth
It's the middle earth
It's quite literally middle earth
You imagine
Godzilla versus Godzilla
And Kong and Bilbo Baggis
And fighting Sauron and the towers
Come on
You have my sword
You have my axe
You have my atomic breath.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
The fellowship of the ring with Godzilla takes like three minutes.
That's that's great.
They get to Mount Doom in five minutes.
Fuck the Eagles.
18 billion is the Eagles.
You know who needs Eagles when you have Mothra?
Come on.
Come on,
come on, man.
No, but it really, it's really like a nine.
Like, I'm really excited.
Again, am I, do I think the movie is going to be like life change?
is going to change,
is it going to feed families?
Probably not.
But in terms of the sheer,
this movie is going to be crack on screen
and have a good time.
Yes.
It's going to be a nine for me.
What about you guys?
You guys aren't excited as I am,
clearly.
No,
no,
be honest.
Not as high as 18 billion.
I'll put this at an eight.
I'm confident this will be entertaining.
This deserves to make money
because Congress Godzilla deserved to as well,
even though it got a crappy run
during COVID.
It'll be fun.
It will be probably,
stupid and it
will, I just, here's the thing.
I'm just, I, I'm
some dumb purist and
thinking that I don't think Godzilla should be able to
run. I don't think
Godzilla can't run?
No, I don't think that he should run. Like, it's
weird. It looks like he's too chunky
and I don't like him. I don't want
him built like Zion.
I don't want him, I need him lean
like in minus one.
Nah, man. I need
my Godzilla to be able
to like post up, you know,
get bored. I need Al Jefferson
Godzilla. No. That's what I'm talking about.
There are chefs. Laker
Shack Godzilla. They are happy to see them.
I need my Godzilla to be out there.
Two dribbles.
Shake the shoulders.
Up fake. Damn.
That's what I mean.
A little drop step. A little drop step.
Like a key footwork.
You'll do a little shank body.
Come on.
Come on.
Like, prom David Robertson.
By the way, are you guys familiar of that, like, that one comic strip where Godzilla plays basketball?
Yes.
Yeah.
I am not.
And it's that meme where it says, and Godzilla got busy and he's doing a layup with like sneakers off.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I need for my Godzilla, man.
I want them, I legitimately want King Kong and Godzilla run a pick a roll in a movie.
Like, come like Godzilla set a screen.
Get the switch.
And then Kong comes off the screen, takes two dribbles.
and don't even look at the rim,
just lob it up and Godzilla just...
And he just starts backing up like this.
God, no, he already turned around.
He already knows what's going in.
Godzilla coxed that thing back.
Damn.
All over saw Ron's face.
Yeah.
That's going to be the next Space Jam movie
starring Bronny James
who have the Monstars.
Monstars are just Godzilla and King Kong.
Dan, you can't rank this less than a 10 now.
We just made a movie where Godzilla and Kong do basketball.
Like, that's the greatest thing ever.
I'm at a seven.
Like, I'm confident that, like, for the same reasons, it's going to be a fun movie.
And I appreciate that they're really leaning into the absurdity of it.
I mean, again, he's carrying, Kong is carrying an infinity gauntlet in this.
And we don't know why.
So just for the intrigue alone of how he just gets this together in Middle Earth, I don't know.
Yeah.
That's worth the price of admission alone for me.
Right.
Is it going to be good?
Again, it's probably not, but.
we will see
we will certainly see
fun will be had
all right
now we bring it to May
May 24th
George Miller returns
to the sequel
or prequel really
to Mad Max Fury Road
Furiosa a Mad Max
Story
uh
let's have you guys kick this off
you've seen this trailer
I don't think I've ever picked our part of trailer
more in my lifetime than this trailer
Daniel Chin, what do you think about Furioso?
I'm out of eight right now.
I'm really excited for this movie.
I think my main hesitation is just,
I think the same risk that runs with any prequel and spin-off
just in trying to recreate the magic of the original.
I think Fury Road is a particularly hard movie
to try to replicate the magic of.
And Charlie Sterone was like,
she stole that movie.
And I really like Anya Taylor-Joy as well.
And I think that she's a great casting to try to rekindle that magic.
but I don't know.
That's my only hesitation.
But even still, it's an 8 out of 10 for me.
I'm hyped in that movie.
I loved Fury Road.
I think that it's going to be a lot of fun no matter what,
even if it's not a fantastic movie,
I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
All right, Joe Me.
Is this a safe space?
Okay.
Yeah.
I fell asleep watching Mad Max Fury Road at the crib.
Oh, no.
Dude.
I fell asleep.
Look, listen, listen.
You're supposed to watch your theaters.
I was broke in.
You know, didn't have no hand, no money.
couldn't put, can erupt two nickels together, right?
It gets nominated for an Oscar.
I'm like, cool.
At some point, we're only going to check it out.
I forget where, I forget what it was on, but I was like, all right, I'm going to tap in.
And then like, they do the explosions, the whole thing happens.
And then I wake up and the movie over.
I was like, dang.
That's so sad.
Tough.
That's so, I enjoyed it.
All sleeping.
It's very impressive, honestly.
It's like, it's such a chaotic movie.
It's so unhinged.
At that time, I wasn't eating right and, you know, I wasn't sleeping right.
So I definitely, I definitely just like crashed out.
Okay.
So maybe you met Fury Road at the wrong time in your life.
I think you got to rewatch this movie.
I got to relock.
That's what I'm saying.
I got to relock in because I'm watching the Furza Trail.
I'm like, hey, man, it's kind of fire.
I think you're going to like this movie on a second chance.
I definitely will.
I think I got to give it a same.
seven because again, I'm not like totally locked in, like I said.
But ultimately, the trailer was like, hey, kind of like, hey, Steve, brother, you don't
know my life, you don't know what I've been.
You don't know my experiences.
No, of course.
Okay.
Sometimes you got to, sometimes life beat you.
You try to fight back and you lose.
I lost, you know.
But ultimately, I think, but I think I'm going to enjoy it because we're watching the
trip, me and Van, we're watching Aquaman 2.
And look at the trailer, we go, hey, yo, like on an IMAX screen and it look great.
the fire, you know,
the whole thing just looked like a spectacle.
So yeah, I'll be there.
I'm finally see it in theaters.
That way I can get the full experience
of seeing a Mad Max movie.
How are you supposed to watch a Mad Max movie?
Right.
So I gotta give this a seven for sure.
Okay.
I'm really torn here because, like,
I was obsessed with Fury Road
when it came out and when I saw it at home.
Like, I've seen that movie like so many times.
Like, to me, it's perfect.
I loved it.
Um,
I have no reason.
I have no real reason to doubt George Miller and his team to deliver a very good movie when it comes to this.
Like, he loves making these movies.
He's amazing at doing it.
But when I see this trailer, I'm like, why does this look like the volume sometimes?
Why does this feel not as, like, why does the frame not feel as dense?
Why does, like, why do things not look entirely right?
and I don't know why and I hope I'm wrong
I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure that I will be
but for some reason like there's like it's just not
it's not there fully for me
and I don't know why I'm gonna be sat
I will like it's my biggest head scratcher
and it's like my biggest like I need to know
about this movie
I'm giving this a seven
because it's like I just don't know
I'm not entirely confident
and I cannot wait to be proven wrong
I cannot wait
Let me ask you guys this real quick
What do you think about Chris Thamesworth
In the trailer?
How do you feel about Chris Thamesworth?
That's what I don't know.
I genuinely, I'm like, okay, he's funny.
He can be weird and wild and all of that shit.
But the beauty about Fury Road is that like you had Tom Hardy,
you had Charlie Staron,
and then the rest were just like wild characters
that either Miller was working with for like 20 years plus
or people that he knew looked cool on screen
and knew how to utilize.
and you have two big characters
with Anya Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth.
I like to see the people surrounding that movie
fill in the gaps and actually add color to that world.
We know Chris Hemser can be big and boisterous
and funny and weird and Anya Taylor Joy
can carry a movie for sure.
But I really want to see the fringes of this movie
and the weird characters that it brings
because that's what makes a cool Mad Max movie.
The wild,
weird shit that they put in that is the most important thing to me.
And that's what I love about it.
Speaking of Ghostbusters,
Chris Hemsworth was the best part of that of 2016 movie.
Yes.
Right?
Clearly.
So he's got comedic chops.
If you guys seen the,
not Christmas vacation,
but the Ed Helms,
Christine Applegate.
Oh,
that?
Yeah.
I don't know that one.
He's funny in there, too.
Chris Hensworth is funny, bro.
Yeah.
You know, like, Thor Ragnar or Rack and Rack aside, like, he can actually be funny.
And so if he brings, like, any type of chops to this movie, yeah, it's going to be awesome.
It's going to be great.
Yeah.
Yeah, we'll see.
All right.
Man, do we got cinema coming to us on May 24th as well.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes out starring Andy Circus, not directed by the same director as the last trilogy.
but Matthew Reeves is
you know he's kind of doing Batman right now
so that makes sense
but we've got
the continuation of the Planet of the Apes trilogy
taking place hundreds of years
after Caesar
apes are talking
the dawn of their kingdom has
emerged and now
I give you my first 10
of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
I am not only confident
about this but I am
this is my most anticipated movie
of the year.
Wow.
I love Planet of the Apes.
I love it so much.
I was not expecting this, Steve.
No, I think Andy Circus made an amazing turn
with all of his advocacy of motion capture
and wanting to push technology
in that field
in a way that, like, I loved.
And like, I was already a fan of Planet of the Apes.
And this trilogy to me is like sublime.
So I'm so excited to see this again.
so I don't think he's attached to this at all
any circuses?
No, no.
Because it's not Caesar anymore, right?
It is hundreds of years afterwards.
It is, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, you go, Jummy.
Here's the thing.
I liked the first three movies.
I think the first one still has like a little,
because it's not like a twist,
but when he talks to the first time,
it like blows your brain,
despite the fact that you knew,
exactly you were going to happen.
Right.
Right.
But it's still incredible.
I don't know
what this looks like
without Andy Circus.
I don't.
Right.
And his level of
care and
pathos that he put
into the movies,
him and Matt Reeves,
right?
Their combination
made that trilogy
what it is,
right?
Jason Clark is great.
You know, even James Frank on the first movie,
deliver something.
There's a magic to that partnership that I thought,
I don't think,
again, I haven't seen this movie.
I don't have any intel.
This is just me going off my gut.
I don't know if I'm ready to expect that same energy from this movie.
Very fair.
Very fair.
I'm going to go to seven.
because the world is interesting
what Circus and Reeves did
in the first trilogy is just magical
type stuff right
just incredible work
at the end of the day
I'm not going to put those
expectations on
was it West Bell and
Rick Jaffa the writers Amanda Silver
you know all those guys I don't want
you know me to sit there and be like well it's not
what Matt Reeves and
Andy Circus did but
like I don't want to do that
So I'm going to go with the seven.
I do think it's got potential, but that first trip was special, man.
That's very true.
It's very true.
I'm pretty much in line with you, Jomi.
I'm like a little bit lower at a six because I feel like it's more of a toss-up for me
with just how much they are moving away from both the creative leadership of their previous
trilogy and moving away from Andy Circus and also just moving away from Caesar's story.
And I really do appreciate like the epic scale of these movies.
and I feel like the way that Matt Reeves elevated the franchise with the second and third movies was pleasantly surprising.
I really enjoyed those movies a lot.
But I kind of felt like it was a pretty solid ending point for the franchise too with the third.
And I'm hopeful that this new creative leadership, like you're saying, Joe and me, like I see the potential and I'm hopeful that the new team will be able to do something with it.
But my confidence is definitely more in the middle.
makes sense
that's fair all right great
all right let's move on
to something we haven't even seen a trailer for
and we barely know anything about
but it's still
slated to be on the calendar
24
ballerina a john wick spin-off
this is the
in the world of the continental
and john wick this stars
on the armas as
an assassin
and uh we've got a lot of other people
starring in this.
We don't really know much about this.
And it's,
clock's ticking on, you know,
whether or not even a trailer should be dropping soon enough.
What do we think, guys?
The Continental didn't exactly set the world on fire,
but John Wick 4 did.
What do we think?
Jumby's going to need a minute.
Oh, man.
I like the John Wick movies.
I really do like the John Wick movies.
and at this and I do
this is weird because
I'm not like surprised that we're like
because I didn't watch the Continental
right you know so I didn't
I don't know what the level expectations are I guess
that's a peacock show it's not a movie
at the same time
I like Anna DeArmus
I've seen like what she did in
the last Bond movie
like that whole sequence was pretty cool
interesting I was like okay
She's absolutely a capable action lead.
I don't know if you guys have seen Ghosted on Apple TV.
Oh my God.
Special film, 10 out of 10 would watch again.
No, no, it's not.
No, it's not.
Dude, it's, again, you take somebody who's like a super chic agent and somebody who's
not a sick agent, you've been together and they fall in love.
That's absolutely not the case.
That movie is terrible and it is rightfully on trial by contents, worst things they have
ever seen that year.
Well, have some respect for Chris Evans and added to Armis.
I do. I'm sure. I'm sure they're very nice people.
But that movie is stinks.
In terms like, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me shut up.
Let me just give this a six.
I say all that to just give it a six.
Before you say anything too crazy.
Yeah, yeah, because we got on ghosted for some reason and I wasn't quite sure when we were going there.
I mean, the thing is, I can, I see the vision. I'm just like, John Wick, man, you had it all, brother.
You know, yeah.
You know, like, because, I mean, not to get on this whole diatribe, but the first John Wick movie was cool because we didn't know what was going on, but we just ran with it, you know what I mean?
And then as they expand the lore more and more, it's not less interesting, but it's also like, man, I remember when I didn't know anything about it and it was still cool.
Yeah.
And that's what made it cool is because you didn't know anything about it.
And things just happened with a very matter of fact like, yes, you from the council of the blah, blah, blah.
What's happening in this one?
Sure.
Like, I'll be there.
Again, like, it's a cool universe.
The actions always hits.
So I'm not going to be excited, but the same time, it's like, why?
Yeah.
Essentially, the question is why for me?
And when I don't have that answer, then I just, I'm not going to be, like, super
interested.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I feel that for sure.
I mean, the formula is definitely simple enough where I feel like they can just
plug in somebody and replicate it in a way where it'll still be enjoyable.
So I feel like for that reason, my confidence is fairly high.
Like, I'm at a 7.
But to Jomi's point, too, like, I mean, I just don't know that we really need to keep expanding the John Wick universe.
I didn't see the Continental.
I only really heard bad things about it.
But I really did, like, Anadarmus in the James Bond movie, and that even though it was a small role, I think she's going to be really good at filling in this lead.
I didn't see ghosted, so I can't speak to that movie.
Don't.
It sounds like...
What are you doing Saturday,
a night, man?
It sounds like it's for the best.
Daniel, come out of crib,
man.
We'll watch Ghosted together, man.
Yeah, let me fly back to L.A.
real quick to watch
Koste with Jomey.
It's not great.
It's really not great.
I think the other thing, too,
is it's not the same director either, right?
It's not...
Chad's the Hellske, no.
Yeah, yeah.
So I think that's another, you know,
question mark for sure.
But I think it's simple enough
where it's the formula is there.
I don't see why I wouldn't
enjoy this movie.
at least. Yeah. I'll give this a six. I'm not, I'm not really confident only because we haven't
really had a successful outing for the John Wick franchise outside of John Wick. Like, I can't
say that I disliked any of the John Wick movies, but we only have the continent to go on on
the expansion of this universe now, because now we've got one. But yeah, I, I don't need
an expansion of Wicks world, but if we get something that's fun and enjoy,
that's nice, but I'm not, I'm not,
I'm not supremely confident out there.
So, a six for me.
It's great.
Yeah, like that.
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah,
Wigsworld.
Don, da, nah, nah.
Great.
All right, let's make this one quick,
because this is probably the easiest layup of the summer.
TBD for the summer,
but House of the Dragon,
HBO Max,
uh,
running it back.
Where it's finally back.
Uh,
I mean,
it's a 10 because,
like,
I literally can't,
think of anything that's more of a sure bet to either be successful and be entertaining.
Hold on, Steve.
Oh, hold on now.
Hold your horses right now, Steve.
You've seen the last two seasons of Game of Thrones, my boy.
Sure.
Let's hold on.
I mean,
but at least from this first season,
how's the dragon,
they seem to learn some lessons.
That's fair.
Well, I mean,
it's also, like, ancient,
so they can't, like, fast travel across the land like they did in the last two seasons.
We'll see.
they did that in the last season.
I'm going to say, this is my first 10
as well. Because
to Steve's point, the last
House of Dragon season was awesome.
I didn't know what to expect,
but by the end I was like, give me
more, like let's lock in.
Right? Team
Green. My team green
and team black. Which one is
not Allison. Allison is team green?
It's one or the others.
It's 50-50.
Right, yeah.
I am not.
Targaryians or not.
I am anti-Alison.
It's me and Damon, right?
We ride at dawn.
That's Blacks.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, we team Black, baby.
We ride, honey.
You feel me?
By the end of it, I was locked in, you know?
So I got to go.
That's got to be my first 10.
I was a dragon.
I cannot wait for that to come out.
So I'm a little bit lower,
but I'm still definitely on that side of the scale.
I'm just at eight.
I think the main reason is I feel like my,
my interest level kind of just tapered off a lot after the last season of Game of Thrones.
And maybe that's unfair to House of the Dragon.
Not locked in.
I'm not,
I'm got to say,
I'm not really as locked in on House of the Dragon as I was like the early seasons of Game of Thrones when I was like really,
I think I'm just,
maybe I'm a little bit afraid to get hurt again, Jomey.
You know what I mean?
I don't know, man.
When Rainier,
when Rainier's dragon popped up in the coronation, brother.
Come on, man.
She didn't kill everybody.
Well, it's not her job to kill everybody.
You solve all problems right there.
Again, but it's not her responsibility.
That was an insane thing.
That was an insane choice.
Hey, look, I got to go back and tell you this is none of my business.
But this is absolutely your business.
It's none of my business.
But I seen them coronate your boy.
I got out of there.
I just want to let you know.
So y'all can go ahead
do what y'all need to do.
But for me, personally, I didn't want to get involved.
Meanwhile, I'm just letting you.
Hundreds of people that are innocent
by popping up from under that stadium.
Again, what she's supposed to do?
So she burned them and then what?
Hey, I've seen them doing their thing over there.
I burned them to the-
collateral damage for the hundreds of people
you just killed for no reason.
I just burn them to a crisp.
I don't know if you wanted me to do that or not.
But I did it.
So, yeah, I'm going to just go back with my drag.
You got something to say to say to my dragon in his face.
Yeah, well, listen, all of this is just going to kick off because needless people died and one kid got eaten by a dragon.
Real gnarly.
One kid, bro, he killed the dragon too, Doc.
I know.
It's nuts.
He ate the dragon.
One bite.
Bro, first of all, that dragon big as hell versus foremost.
What he being, him and Godzilla, he did he hit the gym.
You know what I mean?
You want you talking about guys
You need your Godzilla to be skinny, bro.
Nah, man.
I like my dragons and lizards big and meaty.
All right.
All right.
Like them big and thick, bro.
We are moving on.
All right.

Inside Out 2
I'm not gonna lie guys
I'm losing faith in Pixar a little bit
only because they're just
why do we got to make a Toy Story 5
why do we got to do an inside out too
why do we got to do
it's only sequels
it's only things that we're just like
not
like in it for like to me Pixar
like stood for like innovation and storytelling and animation and art direction and new and exciting
and now I'm just like if like we're making the clipy movie that paper clip from Microsoft Word and
I don't know like it's I actually a clipy movie would be fire uh this one's so would it actually
it's like his journey into you know helping people with you know
what
with grammar and spelling
yeah it's like a spell check
it looks like you're making a letter
it's him versus chat GPT
how about that
got a
all right he's like no
we're about people we're about
organic life
and he stands for the side of humanity
the shit writes itself all right
do you want that or do you want inside out too
what do you want
I would give this a five
out to 10 times out of 10, brother.
I do not watch the clipy movie.
I want the clipy movie.
Oh, my God, man.
That's the next DreamWorks project.
It's the emoji.
Whoever did the emoji movie, that's what's next for them.
Wow.
I got tears of my eyes.
So what's your ranking, dog?
It's a six.
It's a six.
That's a six? Okay.
So here's a story real quick.
me and my boys went and watched the first inside out.
Just like, it's a Pixar movie.
We'll go watch it.
Like, what, you know, I think it was like coming back from college or something.
We were just like, yeah, we'll tap into Inside Out.
You know, like, why not?
You know, in the, yeah, the summer, the summer we got back from school the first time.
We're like, yeah, let's hang out.
Let's go watch Inside Out.
When I tell you, that movie had us crying tears, 19-year-old boys, just like tears in our eyes at the end of that movie.
you know, we can even pretend
to hide it can be like,
no, man, I was good, bro.
He was in there like,
man,
it was like,
dude,
it was good,
bro,
it was good.
I say all that to say,
that movie special,
greats,
fantastic.
I don't think we needed a sequel,
pal.
Nope.
I don't think we,
here's the thing.
If we rank this on the
needed a sequel meter,
if we're running all of this back,
we're kind of a lot of zeros.
I'm going to,
I'm going to say seven because the first one was really good.
But at the end,
of the day, we didn't need
this. It's not needed.
I'm sure Pixar still has
some in the bag they can give us.
You know, y'all are talking about Pixar
like they washed. You know, I remember
I remember when they thought Brown was cooked,
you know, and he just went
and won, you know, a championship and
an IST MVP, have some respect
for your goat, all right?
Respect Pixar. Right.
Give it a set. Big Toes McGee.
Right. Yeah. I mean, for the
for the same reasons, I'm just out of five.
Like, I think it's more of a toss-up for me.
That's when we were talking about not needing sequels earlier, this is the movie that came
in my mind.
Like, it's, I think the direction that they're going is just predictable to.
It's like puberty, so there's going to be more emotions.
I just, I don't think we needed this one.
I'll still probably see it because I did enjoy the first one so much, to your point, Jomey.
Yeah.
But I just, I don't know.
I'm kind of with you too, Steve, where.
It's just Pixar is, it's not like the appointment in doing that it used to be.
Yeah.
Maybe part of that is just, I don't know, getting older too, but I feel like they,
they like always had something that was there for adults and kids too, to the point where, like,
I just, I don't know.
I have, like, some of their movies individually.
Like, I loved, like, turning red.
I liked soul a lot, too.
But I feel like part of that was when they went to just going straight to streaming,
too, straight to Disney Plus.
I think a lot of things shifted for Disney in general.
I mean, we have a bigger conversation about Marvel and Star Wars and Pixar as well.
You know, I think it fits into that bucket where it's like kind of lost some steam in many ways.
You mean you guys in like Light Year?
No.
Kind of forgot that I did that.
That kind of forgot that.
I'm waiting for Woody.
I'm waiting for Woody.
I'm waiting for the Woody movie.
We went to the theaters, Daniel.
We went to, we were, we were all going there.
Oh, right, right.
Yeah.
We stood in front of the big buzz.
Man.
What happened to the game I love?
Elemental.
Elemental was good,
have to respect for elemental.
Elemental was good.
But yeah.
No.
All right.
Now we get to real appointment viewing.
Deadpool 3, July 26th.
The only Marvel movie coming out in 2024.
Some people say Marvel's in the gutter.
Some people say that Marvel's done.
Superkhero fatigue setting in.
Hugh Jackman's back.
Ryan Reynolds is back.
nothing but set leaks and probably Camio City.
Jomey at Denneron, what is your confidence in Deadpool,
twa?
I'm going to give it a nine.
There's no universe in where Wolverine and Deadpool get together
that I'm not super duper, over excited.
Like, you know, I know.
Like, you got me.
Right, you got me.
You know what I'm going to see it three times at theaters.
You know what I'm saying?
And I like the first two depot movies.
I think Ryan Reynolds is a master at being Ryan Reynolds.
And he does being Rob Reynolds better than anybody.
And Hugh Jackman is the definitive Wolverine.
And if Marvel was smart, they'd be like, hey, let's reshoot the last third of
movies so we can introduce the X-Men in some way and some format.
They probably won't do that.
But who knows, right?
That's the magic of this movie.
Who knows who could show up?
Who knows what this could be?
mean for the MCU.
It's got to be a nine.
Daniel, where are you at?
I'm pretty much with you for the same reasons.
I'm a little bit lower at eight, but I'm just excited to see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine again.
Part of me is a little torn for that same reason, though, because I loved Logan so much.
That's still like one of my favorite superhero movies, I think.
I thought it was such a great ending to Hugh Jackman's run as Wolverine.
But at the same time, you know, going back to the set weeks, we got them in the yellow and blue,
the classic classic outfit i'm the little kid in me that grew up like reading wolverine x-man
i'm still just hyped to see hugh jackman like get get a chance to actually don that costume and
be in the mccu and see see what they can do that it's it's a going to be interesting that it's like
coming in the form of a deadpool movie with with all like the fourth wall breaking potential and
just with the crazy cameos that are coming all but the rumors that are that are coming out i think i saw
it's definitely a joke,
but just like Taylor Swift being in it.
Like, I don't know what to expect
with coming in this movie.
The cameos have been everywhere
in terms of the rumors.
So I don't really know what to expect.
It's the only reason why it's probably not
a little bit higher.
But I'm going to be there
and I'm going to enjoy this movie,
whether it's good or bad.
It's this weird thing where,
it's that meme where it's like
Deadpool 3 has the opportunity
to do the funniest thing in the universe right now.
And on its shoulders rests,
not only like a lot of faith
that people are going to have in
reigniting some faith in the
MCU, but
it kind of is like an opportunity
because of how meta and how satirical
Deadpool can be to
look inward a bit
and be like, hey,
maybe we're just going a little mad
and baddie out here and we can
have a big fun cartoon adventure
with all of this stuff. So this is a
seven for me. I'm
more so shaky,
on just what it all means in the bigger picture because we're still going to be getting these movies
and the rest is just going to be throwing a bench of spaghetti on the wall and
seeing what sticks.
But let's keep it going because I know we got to go real soon.
The Boys, season four, TBD, but it's coming out this year.
We love GenVie on this podcast.
What do we think about season four?
Do you think we're going to be seeing a lot of that same success?
we're going to be seeing your boy Tech Night for sure.
God damn right.
We're a lot of,
a lot of Tech Night in season four.
I'm going to give this a 9 too.
This is one of the better,
the better,
one of the best superhero television shows we've got
ever since the Big Boon of 2020.
And so I am always going to be down for more boys,
always going to be locked in on the boys.
So 100% cannot wait.
It's going to be great.
Hopefully.
I mean, season three was awesome until like the last like 15 minutes.
They were like, hey, man, what's going on?
Like, what are we doing?
But like I said, the first, if they keep delivering on the first part of that season three,
shoot, man, we're going to be there no matter what.
Lock me in.
Yeah, I'm right there with a 9-2.
I was really pleasantly surprised by Gen V.
I really liked that show.
And I, like, have always been, like, very curious to see where the blanche.
is going to go as it keeps on growing bigger and expanding because so much of it is like to be like
the anti-superhero anti like big franchise big studio type of like IP and show and they've done it so
well with with its like satirical tone and like dark humor and it's just it's so good now and now it is
it's it's gotten so big that it's expanding into spin off so I'm I'm curious to see where where it
keeps going and I'm really excited for it but I think because of that it's not quite a tent for me
because I'm just, we'll see where it goes.
I think this will be a nine for me.
Like, there's no way that the boys have messed up that kind of success.
And even with the spinoff of Gen V being as good as it was,
it's just an utmost confidence play to start a spinoff in the height of your popularity
and still knock it out of the park.
I'm exceedingly happy for it.
All right, next up, the second Sony Spider-Man spin-off
Craven the Hunter
August 30th
this to me
is gonna be
a six
which is
wildly optimistic
for me
this is the one
this is the one
that I think
is going to be
dumb
bad
and funny
I think that
this is going to be
a why
it's because we see
the dude
like bite a dude's
ear off
like he goes
Mike Tyson
on somebody
and I don't know
why
because he's got
like some animal
in him
so we'll see
yeah I mean that that trailer
that trailer alone just gives you the
the drop of lion's blood
turning into a superhuman
the ear or nose bite off
I don't even remember what that was but
you got Russell Crow and his accent there
they're doing a lot in that
in that trailer where
it's like
I don't get it
I don't get it but it's going to be
something
guys this is a one
come on
Joe.
So you can, like, the Sony, like that brings it down like 800 points.
And then especially when we've already gotten Craven in the video game, and he's done pretty, pretty well.
Right?
To then turn around, Craven don't even got a Russian accent.
He just out here vibing.
Got abs to steal for what?
Nah, bro.
You're not going to get me, man.
That's a one.
I'm not.
He plays Spider-Man 2.
He's like, not my Craven.
Not my.
Hashtag, not my Craven.
Because Spider-Man 2 Craven has that dog in him for sure.
I'm saying, where you ain't lying?
All right.
On to the next one.
The Oscar winning Joker gets the sequel in October.
Joker 2, Folly Adieu,
starring Miss Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix.
Jomi?
Give me your next 10.
Next 10.
Negative, negative, negative 400.
Negative 400 million.
Negative 400 million billion, dog.
I am not interested in this movie at all.
Interest, yes.
Confidence, though.
Zero.
Will it be successful?
The first one was a success.
Well, that's not true.
Yeah.
For me, the first one was successful.
Right?
Legitimately not a great movie.
I was, I was thinking about this in the morning today.
At what point was,
movie going to look at me and be like, yes, the Joker and Zazi beats got together.
And I was supposed to believe that.
I was supposed to move me.
At no point did I buy that.
I was like, is he hallucinating?
What's going on?
And then he was.
I was like, what are we doing?
I will say, the funniest part of the movie is when the little guy is like, hey, man,
I know you just killed that dude, but can I leave?
I can't reach the door,
the door blocking thing.
Like that was funny.
Other than that,
movie's not funny.
It's barely interesting.
The little,
the little like,
what,
rant eagles on the end,
not,
like,
compelling at all.
Like,
Joaquin,
Phoenix performance
is great.
But in terms of,
like,
a movie that I want to,
like,
go and watch and enjoy,
that wasn't one of them.
And so for them,
not only to,
like,
double down,
but make it a musical,
I want you to like
And guys
Let's be so serious here
Like let's be like for real dog
A Joker musical
If somebody just put like
A Joker musical in front of you dog
You'd be like this is the dumbest shit I ever seen
Yeah but if it's Harley Quinn
No no no
No
Joker musical
I'm again
Feed that lady Gaga being
Harley Quinn at that
I like Lady Gaga
I like some of the songs
What does she know about her
I mean, Lady Gaga is great.
Who doesn't love Lady Gaga?
You know what I mean?
But at the end of the day, it's still a Joker, musical.
I'm not there.
I can't, I can't co-sign that, Brick, brother.
I can't do it.
This is a seven sheerly out of curiosity.
I'm not that curious.
It's so absurd and so fucking wild to make a sequel to this movie and make it a musical.
And star Lady Gaga opposite Joaquin Phoenix,
it could be a disaster and it could be pure cinema.
I don't know what it is.
Will I know that it makes a billion dollars?
Yes,
because it's going to be the sequel to that successful movie
and Lady Gaga's in it.
So people will see this.
I am confident about that.
Steve, are you going to, are you going to really,
are you ready to put this down right now?
Joker 2 is going to make a billion dollars.
Yes.
I don't, I'm not putting real money on it.
I will say that that will make a billion.
Let's put it. Let's put it.
Let's put a hundred on it right now.
No.
Let's put a hundred on it right now
No no it's not back your wraps up
Back your wraps up
You're acting like no no we're not we're not
We can't be playing with money like this
Bro you can't, come on now
You can't one Benjamin
One Benjamin
I know the Lakers didn't cover the spread
But I really need you to
Take money seriously right now
It's illegal you're trying to put me in prison
Put a put up put one Benjamin
On it right now
It's gonna make a billion dollars
You don't think it will
hell no I don't think it will
man
at the very least
Steve is on the record saying this
so we can always come back to this
I'm on the record we will come back to this
we will come back to this we will always be the breakout of this podcast
exactly Daniel what do you got
I'm at a three
just because I feel like it is probably going to be
successful in the same way that the first
Joker was but I really
for Jome you laid it out
very well there I did not like Joker
for all those reasons
and I
I felt like they were going to make a sequel.
I was hoping they wouldn't, and here we are.
And now not only are they making a sequel,
it's a musical now with Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn.
So here we are.
Here we are.
Brave New World.
All right, let's move it on because we got to wrap this up soon.
Arcane Season 2 coming to Netflix in November.
Guess what?
It's my first 11.
I'm ready.
I'm here.
Jomi, I know this is an 11 for you too.
We've been, we will finally talk about Arcane
on this podcast network.
It's going to be a trillion billion for me on this one.
Yeah.
I've never been more excited for anything about our life.
I can't believe it took this long for us to get season two.
I know that, you know, we want to, our artists, you know, we want proper work conditions.
You know, want to have them locked in and healthy and, you know, get home with being with their kids and whatnot.
So, shout out.
It did take too long, though.
But the fact that it's coming, I can't wait.
never been more excited.
It's a 10 for me.
Yes.
Daniel.
I feel like I forgot that this was on here.
That's my second 10 of the whole list.
Only those two 10s.
Very conservative with your high ranks.
And I appreciate that.
I don't know.
Like I like I leave some room for failure, you know,
because a lot of, I've been let down too many times before.
But this show, I'm very confident and I'm excited to see another season of it.
All right.
Sonic 3.
The last one.
December 20th.
All the way on the other side.
The grand finale.
No.
Whoa, whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Let's go for it.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Coming.
Oh,
Hold on.
Oh, don't.
Daniel.
Prove me wrong here.
December 20th.
Sonic 3.
What's your rank?
What's your confidence ranking?
Yeah.
What's your confidence?
Do you start now?
I'm at a two.
Get out of here.
Get out of here.
But part of that is just, I just don't.
Thank you so much for coming, Daniel.
We appreciate you coming on Mint Edition.
Grand opening, grand closing.
It's been a pleasure, gentlemen.
Two.
Explain yourself.
Explain yourself.
Yeah.
This is with a very, very big caveat that I didn't see the second one.
I think I saw part of the first one on TV.
I'm just not locked in on this at all.
I'm not hip to it.
Edge can.
This man.
I was surprised.
that they even made it this far, to be honest with you.
All I really remember is just the bad teeth, Sonic.
Maybe I'm sleeping on this.
You don't even know that they redesigned it? Come on, Daniel.
Oh, Dave.
I know they redesigned it.
They needed to redesign it.
We would not be on the third one if they didn't resound.
I still have nightmares of that bad teeth sonic.
That teeth, yeah.
I just, that's where I'm at.
Boo this man.
Come on, Joe, me.
Bring us back down to Earth.
This will be my homework.
Jomi, I know you saw Sizume
so I will, for you guys, I will go rewatch.
Thank you.
Rather, I will go watch for the first time
in full of the sonic,
the first two Sonic movies.
I appreciate your leap of faith
and your courage and sacrifice in these trying times.
Jomi, bring us back, elevate us.
So here's the thing, man.
Daniel's not completely wrong in the fact,
like, when you first see Sonic,
like, all right, cool, this is not going to hit, bro.
Like, why am I here?
What I'm doing?
First one, bangs, right?
the second one
and like I'm not ashamed
I'm kind of ashamed to admit this
but not really
I see the movie
right spoilers for Sonic 2 by the way
You can spoil it all you want show me
Not only do they like full chaos
Am Rodeigo super saying
Sonic in that movie which is great
Yeah
The end credits
Teas shadow
Oh my god
And I went crazy bro
I'm not going to hold you dog
I was in the theater like let's go
They got you with the stinger.
They got me with the Stinger, bro.
Oh, man.
This is some of the greatest shit ever.
Daniel, after you see Sonic 2, I need you to go to TikTok and I need you to type in Shadow the Hedgehog reaction.
Cool.
And if you thought, if you thought Spider-Man, no way Holmes reaction was nuts, wait until you see a crowded theater react to Shadow the Hedgehog showing up in live action.
I was like, I was gobsmacked to think that we would come here from a wild buck-toothed Sonic the Hedgehog to be redesigned into oblivion.
And now the third one brings us Shadow the Hedgehog.
The internet was made for this.
Do you understand?
I can't believe how far off I am from you guys on this.
Don't you understand.
I was expecting this to be like to throw away at the end of this list.
It's a nine.
I'm not cultured.
I'm not cultured.
It's a nine.
I'm exceedingly constantly.
It's absolutely a nine.
It's absolutely a nine.
It's absolutely a nine.
I am extremely, like, who's going to voice Sonic?
Ben Schwartz, perfect Sonic.
They got the same voice actor that always plays Tales.
Tails is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessy.
Knuckles is voice by Inchus Elba.
Doug, can you imagine?
Oh, shit.
Okay, all right, all right.
I like that.
Imagine you walk into Sonic, you walk into Sonic 3 and it's Dezo Washington playing Shadow, bro.
That would be nuts.
It's Keanu Reeves playing Shadow.
Come on, man.
Oh, shit.
Come on.
There's no casting yet?
There's no casting yet.
We don't know.
We don't know.
He's going to cut, like, they need to come out with like, like, it's an E3
debut and they like, he like emerges like, like Billy Elish.
Michael Jackson just springs out from the stage.
It's going to be nuts.
Do you think Shadow the Hedgehog is going to carry a gun in this movie?
Absolutely.
It's going to be so much fun.
Again, the first two movies.
Now the second movie does have a scene in the island with the golf cart that's like kind of
extraneous?
Kind of like,
yeah,
that's not great.
What are we doing here?
But in terms of movies
that are definitely like,
you're like,
at first you're like,
bro,
what am I doing here?
It is legitimately,
like it blows the expectations
out of the water.
It's honestly,
it's heartfelt,
it's funny,
it's engaging throughout.
Just fun films.
Yes.
That means something.
And so,
yeah,
when they do the whole,
yeah,
we got Project Shadow
and the shadow comes out
the ground,
I'm in the theater
like,
let's go!
Let's go.
I really, Daniel, I really hope you educate yourself.
I'm legitimately stunned by this.
I will have to watch these movies.
You know we had to end on Sonic 3.
You know we had.
Damn.
All right.
That is going to do it for our confidence meter.
And that is going to do it for our show.
