I've been touched by the hex tags. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:02:38 Are you sure that wasn't that you just had? No, brother. The omelet. Oh, my God. It saved me, man. May as well just be... Here's the thing. Victor touched you with an omelet,
Starting point is 00:02:48 and then he healed you. He healed me. Now you could, the blind can see. I can, I can, you can walk now. My stomach is full. My belly is full and my heart is full. Yeah. Brother, I'm ready to go.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Let's get it. It's really exciting. We're here to talk about the second part of Arcane, season two, episodes four through six, as well as giving our thoughts on Fox Walking Up! Thank you. I've moved my mouth away from the mic to breathe.
Starting point is 00:03:18 And you picked it right back up, Jomey. Thank you so much. I do what I can. You really do. Before we get into that, though, programming reminders for you and the Ringervverse family of podcasts. On Monday, howsofar is going to give you their Dune Prophecy premiere deep dive? Are you excited for Dune Prophecy, Jome?
Starting point is 00:03:34 I'm excited to see more to Benny Jesuit. I love me some, you know what I'm saying? When I go to the bar, you know what I'm saying? I get me some blue, what's it called? Curisal. What? You know, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:45 Corasawa? Blue Curit. It's that, so it's like a, it's like triple sec, but blue. Okay. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:03:52 I love like, when they put extra my AMF. You know what I'm saying? So I love me some, some blue drink. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:57 You've been at the clubs way too much. It's really, you've been in, you mean, I've been outside. I didn't, no, you can. You absolutely can.
Starting point is 00:04:05 There you go. So then mind your business. Why do you're disseminating the types of vodka and what do you mean? Wait, wait, Wait, what are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:04:11 You don't, when you go, you don't know what liquors you like? No, no, I do know the liquors that you like, but you get hyper-specific. I might, so I don't, I, listen. God forbid, I like what I like. And I'm specific about what I like. It's not hard to have a preference.
Starting point is 00:04:24 I'm saying, yo, can I get an AMF? Just knock me out with that blue carousel, brother. Let's get it. Now, you're probably wondering, you're 28 years old, why you're drinking AMF. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And to what I say is mind your business. Sure.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Absolutely. All right, consider it minded. Also on Tuesday, button mashes back with a special. anniversary episode celebrating Half Life 2 and Halo 2. Jomey, have you played Half Life 2? Have you played Half Life 2? I have not played Half Life 2, but I have played Halo 2.
Starting point is 00:04:49 They let you dual wheel to guns in Halo 2. Game Changer. Changed my life. It was the shotgun with the little SMG. My favorite part was when you were the Arbiter. Yes. Keith David. Keith David, my guy.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Legend. Why are you looking at me like that? When he got stabbed like that? Well, I mean, you know, you got to, you know what I'm saying? Sometimes you got to do what you got to do it. Because at first, because I mean, this is just like, bro, I got really in the Halo in the pandemic. Like, I played the games and everything.
Starting point is 00:05:16 You played like the Master Chief Collection? No, no, no, no. No, I play it like, uh, I played three. I played Reach. I played, uh, five. Campaign? Okay, okay. I'm not a multiplayer.
Starting point is 00:05:29 That's not. That's where the game is at. No. That is the best part. It is the game. I was teabagging niggas. I played, all right, easy now. I played Halo 1 in high school.
Starting point is 00:05:39 They had a computer. So in computer class, somebody had put Halo 1 multiplayer on the computers so you could bland play. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. We're supposed to be like doing work and we're at, we're on a good. Okay, so you have been to church. Okay. We're in blood gulch, man.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Yes. On the W-A-S-D. You play griff ball? You play all those classes? Brother, we were locked in, dog. Kiltacular. Kiltacular. Double-kill.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Triple-kill. Kilimanjaro. We were locked in, guys. We're locked in. Absolutely. All right, so lock into that. And we'll also have Gladiator deep dives for you with instant reactions coming from the Midnight Boys and a deep dive from House of R.
Starting point is 00:06:22 All that's coming soon. Where can we keep up with that, Jomey Adinner. We can keep on it on the socials on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok at Ringaverse. Make sure to follow so you don't miss on any information. That was great Kiltast He keeps trying it Keltin
Starting point is 00:06:45 Shout out to that guy When he was hitting cameo That was probably one of the most coveted cameos You could buy Dude I mean like It's like one of those cameos man Because you've gone on cameo You see people like
Starting point is 00:06:54 Man ain't nobody paying $300 to see you bro Nobody paying $10. I'll tell you what That guy I'd pay a band I'd pay a band Jomi Doesn't get it
Starting point is 00:07:04 Kilimanjaro That would change my life. Changed my life. All right, well, now I know what I'm getting you for your birthday. Thank you. All right. On today's show, Bent Edition, that's the pod we're doing.
Starting point is 00:07:15 We're not just doing Halo impressions. We could. Oh, man. If we did, one day, okay, let us know what property you want us to cover while we do an entire, not just, not Master Chief impression, but just the guy that says double kill the whole time. Like, we got to, okay, pick a property for us to cover like that an entire pod, and then we might just do this. that. That's what happens if we get to 50K.
Starting point is 00:07:38 How about that? There we go. Get us to 50K, we'll do that. We'll do it. Today, we are talking about part two, episodes 4 through 6 of Arcane and Season 3 of the legend of Voxmachan. So, first things first, spoilers for Arcane,
Starting point is 00:07:54 season 2, episodes, everything up until now, 4 through 6. Yes. We're going to take a sort of bigger scope picture about these new crop of three episodes before we get into the meat and potatoes of each one, Jomey. What did you think of episodes four through six, season two of Arcade?
Starting point is 00:08:14 I obviously enjoyed my time. I think upon the first watch, I was, you know, obviously delighted to see that we'd had. It's not the same time skip that we had it the first time, but it's a little bit of a little jump in time. And although I do have some questions about some stuff, I think these three episodes did what they needed to do in the middle part of the season, which is give us the stakes, set up the finale that we're going to get next week.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I think a lot of the characters and the people we've come to know and like expect, like expect certain things from the people, all those have changed. Like a lot of dynamics have changed in these last three episodes. And so we're really set up for a bigger finale. What about you? It's very interesting. When we saw the first three, both at the Arcane premiere and when this hit on Netflix, it was rousing.
Starting point is 00:09:15 It was really something like an excitement to behold about like picking right back up where we left off and going right off to the races with three banger episodes that seemingly happened all in sequence. And all really kind of like throwing a lot of great narrative threads out there that both enriched the things that we saw in season one as well as introduce us to new elements that are bringing these characters into the four. Like new hex tech, new elements of magic, things that happen in major ways to other characters.
Starting point is 00:09:50 But when we talk about these middle three, I still very much enjoyed it. And I still very much was, like, awestruck by the type of both animation and storytelling that was on display. but I think I only found myself a little bit concerned about what all we're doing. It's a lot going on. It's actually the most going on. And seemingly after every episode, we're introduced with things that I'm like,
Starting point is 00:10:20 oh, this is like a brand new problem setting or condition that our characters find ourselves in, that now having only three episodes left to wrap all of this up, not just in this season but forever, I'm like, oh, we've got a lot of groundwork to cover. Does that all concern you? Or is there ever like a thing that we're like, do we have too much dip on the chip in these middle three? I don't, not necessarily because I think you got to judge it
Starting point is 00:10:48 when it's all said and done. Like, did they land the plane, right? Sure. And so, like, you know, who knows what seven through nine hold for us? But in these three, they simultaneously give a lot. and don't say a lot about stuff, right, where there'll be like, there'll be a line about mentioning something
Starting point is 00:11:07 that happened, which, like, I think when I really think about it, it doesn't really bother me, but then there is some stuff where it's just, like, kind of hand-wavy, and you're like, certain characters put on the back burner more than others. I wouldn't even say the characters, just like plot stuff. Sure. That I would have liked to, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:22 have, like, heard about at least, right? Because the show does the thing, and we'll talk about it when we start getting to the nitty-gritty episode, where it's like, this, this has happened or this is happening. And it's like, bet. Okay, cool. That I can live with
Starting point is 00:11:35 because there's a lot going on, right? If we spend every single moment trying to dictate every single single little thing that happens in this world, we'd be here all day. That's true, but I feel like they have so many plates to spin and they keep, not so much introducing new characters,
Starting point is 00:11:50 but like different scenarios and stakes. Yeah. That everybody find themselves in that I'm like, oh, this is like every, it's weird. Like every episode in these last three feels like the season finale of a show that just keeps upping the stakes. But isn't that like what makes it interesting? It is.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Because it keeps getting more and more exponential. And it's not, again, like, I'm still having a great time. I still have full faith that we're going to get a satisfactory conclusion. But I'm just like really blown away with the amount of things that this show is challenging itself with. Yeah. In order to give us these final three that we have yet to see. Yeah, there's a lot of game left, but I do think that at the end of the day, we have to judge it by the sum of its parts, right?
Starting point is 00:12:37 So we have to see what happens next week, but ultimately, I think what these three episodes had to accomplish was, again, racist stakes, but everybody on different levels and have them uneven. And so when we get into next week, they're all kind of started from scratch, really. I think that's an interesting place to put all the characters. Absolutely. Right? And so I think these middle three episodes did what they had to do
Starting point is 00:13:00 in terms of making us excited and like learning things about new characters and making us excited for next week. And I'm thrilled to go into next week. But before we begin our episode breakdowns, it was recently reported in between us coming out with this last episode that the budget was reported on to be $250 million. for the entire series of Arcane. You see a number like that,
Starting point is 00:13:29 and you see a show like this. What do you think, Joe? I think that it's not enough. I was genuinely... I genuinely thought I'm like, oh, that actually seems a little bit inexpensive. Because I tell you what, I see every dollar and cent on the screen.
Starting point is 00:13:44 You know what I mean? Like, what are we doing? Look. It's an interesting fact. We were at the premiere, they talked about they were working on this for entire series for nine years. Nine years.
Starting point is 00:13:56 And the culmination of airing of episode one, season two, marks the end of that journey. And it's nine years that came to that. People met on these, like, people were single when this project started. They have a family. And then they have a family now when this came out. And it's very much, I think this cost equates to the quality. I mean, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:14:20 More so than anything I might have ever seen. No, when you watch it, you can, like you said, you can feel every single scent that went into it, the voice acting, the animation quality, like, everything about it is spectacular. And frankly, the fact that it only costs $250 million, you know what I mean, like is really incredible. I mean, look, I know people are going to be like, $250 million for this, blah, blah, blah, like, whatever. Look, Jay Z said it best. Turn that 62 to 125, 125 to $2.250 to $250 to $250 to $250 to $250 to have. Half a Mill, ain't nothing nobody can do with me. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:14:55 That's Arcane. Right. Ain't nobody, ain't nothing nobody can do with Arcane, bro. It's operating on a different level. Now, you wish Joker 2 would have taken some notes. Nah. Because sometimes that quality doesn't reflect on the screen.
Starting point is 00:15:08 I don't know if you saw the animation in Joker 2 versus the animation. I tell you what? Dogwater compared to Arcane. You know what I'm saying? It's a little different. They operate on a different level. Sure, yeah. You know?
Starting point is 00:15:20 Come on now. All right. They're doing the thing, man. They are. They really, really are. And let's do our thing. Let's get into our episode breakdowns. Let's start with episode four. Paint the town blue.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Jinks has now become a folk hero and is now galvanizing a movement full of her own army of blue-haired liberals. Jesus Christ, man. And everybody, it's music video time. Everybody's dying their hair blue. Everybody's dressing a bit more like Jinks. She's become the face of a revolution. Well, that's what happens when you oppress a people and need something to rally around. Cosplay, right?
Starting point is 00:15:53 Well, I mean, essentially what happens is, and Kaelin mentioned, mentions this, that they have taken over Zahn, right? Yeah. That they sent the noxist forces out there under her command, her and Mel's mom's command,
Starting point is 00:16:09 and they just went and took the whole thing over. They got checkpoints. Yep. Cailin's been going ham. They're running, you know, a military state over there. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:16:17 And so the people are, the people of Zon are looking around like, bro, like, the only person who has stood up to those people at all is jinx where is she we need something to rally around we need somebody to you know put her 10 toes down to stand up for us so they rallied behind her which like you know not the person i would have chose personally but i understand right you know you need a symbol of hope and a symbol of freedom and jinx is that person and i think the visual elements here because we had we begin with our classic music video breakdown of like this interesting black and white animated sequence of people rebelling against the oppressive police state and all of that. And you needed some way of conveying the masses kind of rallying up to this idealized version of jinks. And, you know, again, cosplaying like that in the terms of animation seems a bit on the nose. But when you want to like convey all of these things in a montage in a very short amount of time, I think that's the best way that you can do it.
Starting point is 00:17:19 I think it makes sense, yeah. It's certainly a way that I definitely got the message. But back at home, in headquarters, Caitlin is pulling to Megan Hall and sleeping with her fellow officers. Oh, my gosh, bro. This pissed me off. This actually got me mad. I was hot, brother.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Let me tell you something. Because so it's not even five minutes since the episode, right? Like, we, I just sat down. I got my food. I'm like, let's lock in. You snuggled into the couch. Brother, man, I am ready three hours. Let's get it.
Starting point is 00:17:49 going and then I see Kaelin in bed conoodling with what Maggie? Yeah. Brother man, to say that I was disgusted, dismayed,
Starting point is 00:18:04 distraught, and frankly just in complete disbelief, doesn't even begin to describe how I felt. I felt betrayed. I felt a lack of trust. I felt another word. Who winked, run a muck.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Let a stray. Let us stray. Run a muck. flat out deceived brother we've been tricked we've been the head well actually we haven't really been tricked uh katelyn is just really not taking this well at all listen i get it you know what i don't you need a bucket i get it you know what i'm saying you need a bucket i understand but at the same but at the same time have some decorum have some shame do you know what i mean you brother she you just left shoddy right you just left it couldn't it couldn't be in five minutes
Starting point is 00:18:46 can't be five minutes it was probably like more than that you know what I'm saying we do need to give her some credit it will you know I'm not gonna give her really much because it's still probably a thing you should not do it the workplace it was probably like three you know a couple months couple weeks whatever but I do not sleep with your co-workers but I do not sleep with your co-workers but at the same time her all right so now I see what's going on I see what I'm saying because what that is bro that is just a fundamental lack of thought process well no all right I see what you all right And so now I'm watching the rest of episodes. I'm like, Kaelin, I don't know if I can message you a little. Kailen's on the rebound. I feel like Logan's like, Logan's really laying her on thick. I think they, she thinks they got something special. And Kailen's just like, hey, listen. Well, you remember.
Starting point is 00:19:31 There's like one or two instances where, you know. Logan's real. Well, she's like behind her, trying to make some moves. And Kail's kind of like, you know, this is on thing. You know what I'm saying? Like it's really, Kailen. Her heart not in it. Her heart's not in it.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Ain't it? Clearly not. Man. Why would you do it? Disgusting work. Absolutely disgusting work. I was actually mad. That did piss me out.
Starting point is 00:19:53 I was like, Kailen, how could you do this to me? After everything we've been through, Rush Hour 1, Rush Hour 2? Exactly. Damn. He's not going to be in Rush Hour 3. Mbessa is experimenting with HexTech on her own time. And guess what? It's not going well.
Starting point is 00:20:08 Brother, she got that man killed for no reason. The second I saw that goat man, I'm like, you're done, buddy. My favorite thing is when they're behind the glass and they got like the safety goggles on. And he's just like, are you really? And they're like, you'll be fine. Man, and we're always going to glaze the animation. There's no Krispick award because it deserves all the glaze in the world. But when it goes wrong and he, you look at it and it's just like, oh, he's just powder on the ash.
Starting point is 00:20:37 But dumb tish. On the window. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's kind of like, dang, that's gruesome, bro. That's like. What was that goat man doing really? Like, he probably didn't have that much of a future.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Well, you gotta think about what Embessa's like. Ambessa's probably didn't like ask him nicely. It's like, hey, of course not. Go do this or you die. Yeah. No what I'm saying? He's like, well, if I do this, I will die. I would put my golden mask on.
Starting point is 00:20:57 You know what I'm saying? She's not, she don't seem like the person to ask nicely. No. You know what I mean? So really didn't have a choice, I imagine. Yep. Well, our adopted child of Jinks, stages of riot disguised as Jinks to pump the people up.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Yeah. I think this might have been the first track that I actually didn't like in the show. I felt this was like a tiny bit cringe. Why? It was... The music is just very on the nose sometimes.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Yes. And again, I think we already had the, you know, like dismay of the people being galvanized by jinx in the earlier stages. But again, like, it looked amazing. It was really cool, shot amazingly. But they... But this riot ensues.
Starting point is 00:21:43 and there's a roundup of arrests. Well, because, so, okay, so you have the scene, like, kind of before that where Jinks, or not Jinks, sorry, Aisha, goes to the checkpoint and, you know, throws the little bombs that where it didn't kill anybody, but just to, you know what I'm saying, because Rictus is just pulling people out alive, like with blue hair and being a dick about it, you know what I mean? Just harassing people on site just because they have blue hair,
Starting point is 00:22:12 which is nuts, but, you know, whatever. So they legitimately... It's a pretty good identifier for the people that you know that might not be part of the cause. The jinxers, right? Yeah. The jinxed.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Right? But they think that jinx is back. And that's not good. No. Right? Because they've been, obviously, you know, you have the scene with Ambessa talking to the blue hair,
Starting point is 00:22:36 the blue hair person, like, like in the interrogation, right? Like, yo, what's going on? You know, all that. stuff and I think what that is supposed to represent at least for us is that yo there's there's
Starting point is 00:22:51 they're not holding back they're not being civil with these people like how you just bring somebody out there with blue hair right like I guess they're the jinxers and everything still right and so then you have the rally which you're getting to where
Starting point is 00:23:06 Savica is back practically begging jinx to come through right right like the people need something to hold on to, they're trying to understand like how this could happen. Can somebody get us out of
Starting point is 00:23:22 this? And they need you, they're asking for you, they need you to rally around. But Aisha is the one who's like pretending to be Jenks. And when they see the flare in the sky, they all put their hands up. She got the murder cloak on. The big moment. You know what I mean? They did get, they did get stitched on.
Starting point is 00:23:43 And so... Sucks when that happens. Rick, this comes through with his big old, big ass head and comes through and does this thing. And he got a big head, right? His eye shadow. Look, look, man. Shout out to him. I don't know how he...
Starting point is 00:23:57 The beard is very well-groom. I don't know how he'd be fine the hats because the head big as hell. But that scene, I think, is kind of, is kind of interesting in terms of, like, that's not really, jinx, right? Jinks don't really move like that. And it's going to be a thing that she kind of struggles with up until maybe the ending of this episode, which we'll get to in a minute. But
Starting point is 00:24:22 next scene, top side. Ambassador Wars Caitlin about the dangers of workplace entanglements. Man, that's the last person. Actual words. That's the last person. We're not trying to hear that. Hot meat kettle, by the way. I'm not trying to hear that for you, my boy. Don't talk to me about that stuff. It's actually
Starting point is 00:24:39 probably because she could probably actually separate those things, Embessa, and Caitlin clearly is like, hey, maybe keep it, keep it in line. Well, I think, I can tell everybody can tell. I think Embessa is definitely like not locked, or I'm sorry, I think Caitlin is definitely like not locked in all the way. Like, I would say, like, she's, like, locked in like 80%. You know, it's nothing, it's nothing too crazy.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Well, you get into, well, they said in this info dump that it was, it's been a couple months of this now. And like, you might lose a bit of the plot. if all you're doing is just conducting more raids and setting up checkpoints and just putting your boot on everybody instead of being either diplomatic or using a different approach. And that's kind of what Embessa's
Starting point is 00:25:25 like warning you about. Well, eventually, again, Embessa is trying to play her like a fiddle rate. And it's a very good play because she's actually kind of right. I mean, with the entanglement, sure, but like Kaelin is Kaylin says, how come the path to peace is always through with violence, right? And Amessa is like, well, you know, that's how it's got to be.
Starting point is 00:25:49 You know, maybe I, she's trying to like gas her up. You're like, maybe I underestimated you. You got more patience to me. I'm not patient enough. And she probably is right. And it's clear that Kalen's losing that patience because she's not exactly as attentive to this conflict as Ambassador would have wanted because the results aren't you. Well, that's because I got to find drinks.
Starting point is 00:26:11 And she doesn't want to just arrest people with blue hair in the streets. You know, you probably want to do some more clandestine type stuff. But at this point, the clock is ticking for Ambessa. She doesn't really have time to be out here doing the little, all right, we're going to wait her out. Exactly. Which or what not. Like, we got to go get her now. All right.
Starting point is 00:26:29 And Consum and Salo getting his legs painted once again. And guess what the tingles aren't lasting? Tough. So. Somebody is on that can fix him. Somebody who's on that might be able to fix him. word is he's a miracle worker. We'll get more about that later.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Skeva then beseeches, Jinks. Take up the mantle. Please. Please. Please. Pleas. Begging her. Great if she did that. Begging her. She goes. She's like, hey, where were you at? Like, that was you, right?
Starting point is 00:26:58 He's like, well, what me? And the kid's like, blah, blah, blah. All right, I think this is where I talk about it. I'm like, I might be joining the Van Lathan School of Haterade when it comes to pluck, when it comes to this kid. What's wrong with the kid? It's just, it's all, it's nothing but doe eyes and tussled hair.
Starting point is 00:27:15 You, you hate her. I might be a little bit. You're hating. Now you're hating. A little, you're hating. You can't say that it's not aggressively cute. What's wrong with being cute?
Starting point is 00:27:24 She's adopted a funco pop that is just, is taking up her cause. It's another little powder. My favorite thing is how they're like, that's my little sister. No, that's your, that's your daughter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:35 That's your child. Mm-hmm. That is a, that is, that is, you are a mother. That is your little baby, you know, that's your mini me. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:27:44 So they're like, oh, my family, look at my little, I had a big sister just like, you know what I'm saying? I don't know what I was. I was like these things are repeating itself. Yeah. Silco means cyclical.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Oh. Speaking of Silco, uh, jinks has a bit of a pep talk with an empty chair. Who would mean, we knew the chairs empty little time. Which I would, I would have thought that this was,
Starting point is 00:28:05 this would have been the same place where, uh, she kills Silco and like it's just his skeleton that she's talking to? That would have been nuts. Sick work. Even for Jenks, that'd be sick work.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Or she would have had a Silco mannequin like her dead friends? Nah, I think she's past that. All right. Past that stage. But she reluctantly agrees she's going to be taking up the mantle. She's got to.
Starting point is 00:28:29 She's got to. You know, somebody has to. Mm-hmm. Right? Cut to Embescese goons. They're giving some enhanced interrogation techniques to some undercity dwellers
Starting point is 00:28:37 to find out where the next blue council meeting is going to be. And guess what? It's just, it's right at the big statue of the guy who let a revolution I kind of feel like you should know that.
Starting point is 00:28:45 It might have been the biggest clarion. I would have felt that that was the first thing that I would have torn down if I was an oppressive force that want to get rid of heroes. Wow.
Starting point is 00:28:56 I mean, I was just saying that's a real colonizer brains. Preventative maintenance. Interesting. Wow. You got a book for that somewhere? Is that in the art of war? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Art of War. Right. Brother man, wow, you... What if I've just been playing chess more often? I'm just like, I gotta outthink. This is like SIF 5. They got this in like SIF 5? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:29:17 You do get to befriend like Aristotle and stuff. Really, I never played the SIV game, so I have no idea what I'm talking about. It's just a big board game. You don't need to worry about it. It's like risk? We'll talk about it on button mash one day. Is it like risk? It kind of is.
Starting point is 00:29:29 It kind of is like risk. Yeah. But it's like more social. And we don't need to get into it. I mean, we could. That's a whole thing. This episode is brought to you by Spectrum Business. Fast, reliable internet means everything for your business.

Starting point is 00:30:39 And we're back. A scuffle is ensued. And guess what, Sing is here. And he unleashes a massive werewolf beast that a... that enforcers encounter and it goes totally fine. Well, I mean, of course it does. So, so we, like, were wondering what the cinch was up to in, like, in last week's episode. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:02 They spend, like, every single. Post credits thing. Yeah, fake post credits thing is, is him, like, doing some sciencey thing, you know, we're kind of like left to wonder. Playing with hearts, go green goo, stuff like that. No, like what? Maths scientist stuff. What's going on? on and then
Starting point is 00:31:20 cuts himself and he looks at I shun he's like hey you know we're not going to be here long and you see the little the beast and the like chasing the blood and kind of like what's going on? What's happening here?
Starting point is 00:31:37 What's happening here? And then we get to Stillwater right? And we have uh jinks trying to take in uh, jinks wants to rescue all the people Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:31:50 And she takes Savika with her. That entire, like, not the whole sequence. Where she pulls a reverse Brad Pitt in Ocean's 11, where she dresses the cop trying to break in. Right. Well, it's the scene, like, the two scenes before that, like, we, we know Jenks and we're very familiar with her game, you know. But to see her, like, in, it's not vulnerable.
Starting point is 00:32:14 That's not the right word. But there's a level of. She's on the back foot for sure. Yes, right? And so we know that she is a planner, right? She can make plans in terms of like setting traps and all the stuff. Yeah. But kind of having to work on the fly is not her best strong suit.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Sure. Right? Not good improv, right? Not the greatest improv, you know what I mean? And so when you get to the scene where they're in, they have to like. They're booking her. Well, no. Even before that.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Mm-hmm. When she's like. Hey, I'm Jinks. It was like, no, you're not. Which is kind of crazy, by the way. Right. You have to like double check, you know, take her ring just to be sure. We're heads on a swivel here.
Starting point is 00:33:00 We're on high alert. We're ready for when somebody says that. We got to be ready for someone who says that. She's like, no, you're not jinx. She's kind of like, what do you mean? What do you? Look, like, I don't look like, jinx. I thought that scene was like really eye-opening in terms of like her character.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Uh-huh. Just like a little stippet into. But it tells her little bit how, like, off the, on the back foot she is without the idea of Silco to be like the person who plans, the person who has the big ideas. The person who can actually be galvanized to a cause because she doesn't exactly really it's not that she doesn't believe in it, but it's not
Starting point is 00:33:33 again, her fight or at least it's not going to be until much later. And it turns out that, you know, Sinich has his own breakout plans. Yeah, he was locked in already. He was locked in. Do you get, I mean, do you have the scene with Ambessa? and Jinks and Seveka and by the way Mbessa
Starting point is 00:33:53 clearly not locked in not even close to me more I tell you what Gold Mask really is awesome I will say that well because his thing right walks past Jinks like does a little
Starting point is 00:34:05 like and then no little side eye keeps a pushing right then as she's waiting for the transit she's kind of like something's wrong
Starting point is 00:34:14 hey man y'all don't man am I tweaking or you know And then... She has some sense about her. Some sense, but then all that's wiped away because Wolfman is coming through. Just tearing with people.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Which, by the way, you didn't know, you couldn't have possibly know that there was a gigantic wolf monster in that tram. Well, she could have known, but like, when it's, like, kind of like busted open and it's not moving her our way, she already think James back there, so she was already like,
Starting point is 00:34:41 what are we trying to, like, what are we trying to get into? And he tore them. Makes mince meat of the whole place. He got them. out of there. Mm-hmm. Right?
Starting point is 00:34:50 But somehow, also finds a way to go take the elevator and find the exact floor that home boy's down. The blood, right? Right, which is the blood. Which is the blood, which you tracks it.
Starting point is 00:34:59 It's fine. I just like to think of him, like, the entire massacre stops and he just squeezes into the tiny elevator. And then the music plays. I think Jinks rescuing, like all the folks is, we talk about, like,
Starting point is 00:35:14 her being, excuse me, we talk about her being the Messiah of the. Well, we got another Messiah we can talk about later. But for the, like the what's called the jinxters, right? Yeah. When she comes, when she does the thing, she's like, you're saving you.
Starting point is 00:35:30 I'm your hero. And they're like, no, no, no. It's not cool. They like start touching her like a deity, bro. It's, it's kind of, it's on the nose. Because you'd think that like the people that are very much down with jinx would like embrace her flair for the dramatic. stuff like that, but they actually are just like, yeah, solidarity. And then just like, you know, touch her and then just walk away.
Starting point is 00:35:55 That's hero stuff, man. Yeah, it's like touching the hem of Jesus. Oh, right. You know? Like, just one of those like, you're real, you're here. Remember, one of the firelights, the bat guy who's been like across season one and two, who is loyal to Echo is not messing with, you know, the, like, the Silco shimmer stuff at all. like gets caught up in the riot,
Starting point is 00:36:19 gets to the prison, gets freed by jinks, and kind of hits her with the, hey, I see the vision. I like, I respect. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:36:25 She has brought all these people together under one united front of freeings on. And she doesn't quite know it yet. That's the first time. That she gets it. They're like, oh, these people,
Starting point is 00:36:40 like she just heard like, oh, I'm the hero. I don't really believe her, understand it. In that moment. Not until here. It's when she first,
Starting point is 00:36:46 she finally gets like, oh, snap. The responsibility of other people's belief in you is a very powerful thing. And it's very well illustrated in the scene. And tell you what, also is very well illustrated. This fight scene between Wolfman and Jinks, I think this might have been one of the coolest action sequences we got in these three episodes. It was definitely of the music. This is where I fucking love this music.
Starting point is 00:37:11 Oh, now you like the music. It was head banging metal. It was really, really good. Christ of love. You tell me that it wasn't. great? It was great. I like the part right before the scene where the guy like his gate opens, right?
Starting point is 00:37:23 Sinch gates opened and he has his blood everywhere and he's like, yeah, y'all got it. Yeah. We're... I'll close up shop. Yeah, it's how y'all. Y'all, y'all deal with this. I'll be in here cooling for a minute. The fight scene was nuts. You know, we get a, you know, we get to see like the Wolfman do his thing
Starting point is 00:37:38 for the first time. I was the kind of vicious. I was the thing that Jinks has like low-grade teleportation abilities. Well, she got the speed, right? I understand that she's got the speed, but it literally It's just like a little blink for the boo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-woo. You know what I'm saying? I rarely see that as often as I would have hoped, but, like, this was really, really good.
Starting point is 00:37:53 I think we see it a lot in, like, episodes, episode five. Episode five, yes. But, like, again, it's something that, it's one of those little details that, like, I keep forgetting that the show doesn't forget. No. Don't forget in that sequence, right? You have, Jake's about to sacrifice all of him.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Yeah. He's like, yo, Seveka, take my daughter and run. Yeah. Hey, man, that baby was crying. No. I was waiting for her to, like, blow the whole thing up. She was gonna. She was gonna.
Starting point is 00:38:23 But then. Then, big reveal, it's daddy. You know what I'm saying? You know what you've said? You ever seen that meme of the person with the, like, the dodge ball? And it's like somebody making a joke. And then it's like the gift of prophecy or the gift of a prophecy from Apollo. You ever seen that meme?
Starting point is 00:38:44 No, I have not. I'm doing a bad job. describing it. But that's kind of like us last week. Where we're like, oh, this very well-projected thing that is likely right in front of our face. I mean, not really, though. Like, we didn't think it was actually Vander. We're just like... Okay, no. It was more of the fact that like when you... There was like the smallest hesitation at like the beginning of the fight. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:39:07 if that's Vander. Yeah. And then by the time that that was like, by the time he stopped and looked at her, before he even said it, I was like, mm, yeah, that's him. But we joked about it. Last we were like, what if that matter? It can't possibly be him. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:20 That would be crazy. But what if the wolfman was, was Vander? And guess what? Vander is a sexy wolfman now. Sexy Wolfman with Frankenstein lightning bolts. And it's the like gas pylon that's injecting itself into his back. He's like like Frankenstein Bane Wolfman.
Starting point is 00:39:36 It's nuts. It's got to be a miserable existence. I can't imagine it's any fun. That's got to be terrible. And that's episode four. And then on to episode five. Lister's in Bedrock. Vye's taking the breakup very well.
Starting point is 00:39:49 I love it. I love it like in the both seasons now, episode four, completely devoid of Vy. Yeah. Doesn't, we go to the prison. This is a less cool reveal
Starting point is 00:39:59 in the beginning of episode five. What do you say about? I, I like a character reveal at the end of an episode to lead into an episode rather than being like, hey, this is right where Vye is right now, and she's in a bad place.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Well, it's not, It's not right now. It's way later. Way later. Because she's buff as shit. Yeah. Dog. Black hair.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Black jacket. Brunk as shit. Getting into fights. Pushing over people and starting fights. Well, shit. I mean, you know what I'm saying? Look. You ever fumbled a baddie?
Starting point is 00:40:33 Here's the thing. Did you crash out like Vi did? No, but I understand. I understand. Oh, I see. You crash out like Caitlin does. You know what I'm saying? A rebound that you shouldn't be with.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Don't worry about. Okay, no, that's how Jomey operates. This is crazy work. You're in from entanglement to entanglement. You're not about healing. You don't know me. You don't know where I'm in. Joe doesn't heal.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Don't cast your aspersions on me. He's looking for the one, the two, and the three and the four. No, no, no, don't do that. Look in the mirror. Okay, don't talk about me like that. Have some goddamn respect. All right. God, Lee, listen, I don't condone
Starting point is 00:41:11 Vy's behavior. Right. But I understand. Okay. You found a woman of your own. You had it all set for life. And then she tried to kill your sister. Right?
Starting point is 00:41:21 She tried to kill a kid. She said that she wouldn't. And she actually kind of didn't actually promise that. All you asked for her to do is to not change. And guess what she did on you, not even 15 minutes later. Stay changed. Changed on you. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:41:34 You know what I'm saying? I'm going to feel some type of way. Curse crashing out just hearing this. You know what I'm saying? Like, would I crash out like that? Absolutely not. Do I understand her crashing out like that? absolutely.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Okay? All she do is drink and fight. And when there's no drinks, they're definitely a fight. I'm just fine. But really, I just like to fight. You know what I mean? Like her and old boy just going to the little boxing area
Starting point is 00:42:05 and getting their money on betting and doing their thing. I respect it. You didn't like that scene because you were a hater. I love it. No, I did like that. I like the idea that. like, okay, this is clearly where she would be. This is how she deals with her problems.
Starting point is 00:42:19 I like that. I loved how you can see her spiraling, right? She sees Caitlin in a little, like, the fake Kailen in the nightclub. It's like, oh, and then it's actually, you know, homie. She's like, I ain't, man, punches him. You see her, like, kind of devolve. And I think the smart thing that it does, this particular sequence, right, is that we see fake Kailen, and we're like, that Kailen's not.
Starting point is 00:42:45 They start seeing jinx and we're thinking, okay, Jinks don't really either. And then, oh wait, wait, no, that was Jinks trying to find trying to find Vi. That was real. And now they, she informs that Vanders is alive. And this is where I think I start to, maybe we stumble here a little bit, just a tiny bit in this fifth episode. Because.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Because they team up rather quickly. Let me tell you something. I think the beef is like, it's not squash, but it's shelved. like a little fast. Brother man. Brother man. Doing too much. I'm doing too much?
Starting point is 00:43:21 You're doing too much? You think I'm doing too much. You're doing too much. The one thing that could ever bring them together is Van. I get it. And it makes,
Starting point is 00:43:31 and I get it. And that's why I can still believe this. If five things, Vanders alive, right? Remember, she was about to choke her to death. Like, Vanders alive. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:43:44 okay, I have to kind of take you up on this. Remember, they're not buddy, buddy throughout the entire episode. And I know that, and they're not. Right. I just feel like at the speed at which, like, the clear emotional state that she, that vies in versus the pie in the sky, left field, Vanders alive, you've got to believe me, type of thing that Jinks would give, rather than this being either a lie,
Starting point is 00:44:14 something that's in her head or whatever, it feels like this is where we're starting to actually push things along for the sake of making sure that this plot is like finished by the end. And Vander being a wolfman aside, I don't know if the conflict between the two of them, not is so much resolved, but like is properly shelved by the end of it.
Starting point is 00:44:40 because they're still in cooperation through the rest of these episodes. And I get why they're still together. And it's a reluctant alliance, but I feel like that we could have had even just a tiny bit more time figuring that out. And I'll get to the thing that bandaged this for me
Starting point is 00:44:54 because it's remedied in the same episode. I mean, I don't know, man. I just kind of feel like after everything they've been through, if they were ever going to be on the same side again, it's because of Vander or something that Vander be. And so when Jinks is,
Starting point is 00:45:10 like, hey, Vander's alive. I understand why, Vi, even, because again, it's not, they,
Starting point is 00:45:18 we'll talk about it, but it's not all buddy, buddy. They don't coexist immediately. It's more like, I, like, okay,
Starting point is 00:45:26 okay, for dad's sake, I will, I don't want to do this. I will do it. They do a good job in that episode being like, yo,
Starting point is 00:45:35 I don't really mess with you, but I'm here because of dad. Yes. And, and again, this is buttoned up better than I expected if it's buttoned up then what's the issue
Starting point is 00:45:46 but it's at this point at this point as I'm watching this where I'm like ooh okay are we going a little fast but again we can this was this was the only only way that he can ever see Aidan anything ever again and so I completely like when I when we get back
Starting point is 00:46:02 from the Imagine Dragon song and you see them walking together when we resume from Madaghan Dragon's yeah we get back from Joe me skips intro every time every time when they're together in the when she sees the mural they walk into the
Starting point is 00:46:16 the little thing the train thing I'm like yeah okay I could see why she would go along like my dad might be alive you know what I mean like there's no way she would pass that up so all right quick button scene ambessa and Caitlin chat with
Starting point is 00:46:32 singed try to bargain to hunt for the beast use them as a weapon against the undercity not gonna go great I can't imagine I can't imagine it would. Kaelin was in a bag. There would be no recourse.
Starting point is 00:46:45 That was the worst accent I've ever done. No, you sounded just like her. I sounded just like I nailed it. For me, what was really interesting about that scene was that Kaelin was being real kind about it. Hey, was a look, we got these dungeons. Surprisingly, the good cop here. We haven't.
Starting point is 00:47:03 We haven't. I didn't use those ones. Yeah. But if you don't start spilling your guts, brother. nothing we can do for you here nothing we can do for you i'm gonna try ain't nothing that can do for you and you see ambessa click the uh little the little um the lock watch yeah right and she's like she clocks and we don't see what's on it yet no but she clocks that okay there's something interesting there's something i can use there again ambessa incredibly smart and tactical tactical
Starting point is 00:47:32 tactical here to in that in that specific moment solutions to find solutions to yeah in that specific moment? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, speaking of missing family, Mel, remember Mel, right? Who? Who?
Starting point is 00:47:46 How could I ever forget, Mel? How could I ever forget, Mel? How could I ever forget? Mel finds herself in what I'm going to call an ethereal Rubik's cube after getting sucked up by the Black Rose dimension. She got what? What? She got what?
Starting point is 00:47:59 She got sucked up into a portal. I don't know, man. What you said the first time? I was calling she got sucked. What? That was crazy. A black rose dimension. A black rose, bro.
Starting point is 00:48:07 She got up in the black rose. It's a really cool effect when the rose comes out of their eyeballs. It's kind of nuts. They were in their back right there. Amators are in their bag right there. Also, surprise, your long-lost brother, Stunge-Doy. What are the odds of that? Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Who could have seen that coming? What do you think about the reunion with Broski here? Before, it's ultimately, it's sudden but inevitable betrayal is upon us. I mean, I was like, I really just, thought that was convenient because we've seen the Rose, you know, attack multiple people. So I was kind of like... From the second that it happened I was like, he's not real. I was like, where's everybody else? How is it just him?
Starting point is 00:48:47 That seemed kind of... Yeah, no, that's weird timing. Again, this is like, no, this is blatantly a trap and not true. It's weird timing. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? It's, you know, you need somebody you can trust to get the information out of them. So I got it. But I... And so, and this is why I... This is why I can't, like, quit this show.
Starting point is 00:49:07 in terms of like trying to understand everything that's going on because it does a good job of giving us information, right? So we've been asking like, yo, what's the Black Rose looking for? Right. What's going on with all this? And when we say Black Rose, it's like more or less the blood mages that Mbeso was working with kind of, but she made a deal with them. And it's still vaguely alluded to, but we still don't really have any more information about this. But we know what they're working with a... No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:49:39 We find out what they're looking for. Which is her. Which is her. They're looking for the kid that she had. For what reason we don't know? We don't know exact reason, but we know why they're attacking in Bessa. Yes. Why they have the beef, right?
Starting point is 00:49:54 And this is why we're looking at the next three episodes like, yo, how can they wrap us up? That's why I kind of like, I trust it. This is a brand new thread. This, but it's a brand new threat that we got in the last week's drop and that, they've kind of answered why they're here. Now we have to see that plot line resolved. But I think it happened in a way that, honestly,
Starting point is 00:50:16 I wasn't mad about it. I actually enjoyed it. I was like, oh, this is where Mel went. This is why Mel's here. This is why Amessa and the Black Rose got the beef. Okay. I think it's more of the, like, I think it's more of the balancing act that I'm getting used to here
Starting point is 00:50:32 because we know that these C and B plots, like with Jace, that we're going to see in a second with Mel here. We're not going to get as much time to, but they'll probably be as equally served, just not as frequently as we want them to. Sure. To the point where we borderline forget that Mel's out there
Starting point is 00:50:52 until this episode. We're like, oh, right, we're back here. I don't know about forgetting. I mean, characters in this show disappear all the time in terms of like they won't be in an episode. Like, there'll be a plot line that we, again, Vi, gone episode four. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Right. And we'll get to this later, Heimerdinger and Echo, not in these episodes at all. No, the show is always just like, this character won't be here. Victor disappeared, right? It wasn't in episode four, right? Like, these are things that continually happen
Starting point is 00:51:20 where characters just aren't there. We're just like, okay, we'll see him in episode six, we'll see him in episode seven, whichever, whatever. But at the end of the day, I still think the show does a good job balancing the storylines of the characters show. When we see Melis episode, we have a better understanding of what her deal is,
Starting point is 00:51:37 what her family zila is, why her mom and this black rose entity have this beef. I think the show operates at a level where we can trust them to get to the bigger plot at the end of the day. So I'm not really mad about it. And I hope that they do. All right. Next scene, Singe actually takes the deal with Embesso. Of course. You got no other option.
Starting point is 00:51:57 For love. For science. And we discover that he's got a bit of the Mr. Freeze plot line. And he's just tried to save his dead daughter. Dead daughter. Look, I get it. Classic dead daughter syndrome. Caleb was in a bag.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Caleb was like, yo. She's in the suspended animation cocoon. Caleb was like, yo, I went through all the archives, man, and I see that, you know, you got kicked out of the academy, some crazy reasons. Uh-huh. You know, and then I was like, who invented shimmer? Boom, she put it all together. Kalin like Batman.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Kalin is a pretty good detective. I will say that. She arcane Batman. She locked in. She can figure it out. She was locked in. But I will say the most problem. line of the show might be
Starting point is 00:52:38 why does anybody commit atrocities for love? Well, paraphrasing here, but I'm like, okay, man of science that just did the bad thing because you wanted to save your dead daughter. Well, that's what happens, you know what I'm saying? Mr. Freeze was Robert Banks. You know what I'm saying? Robin Banks is one thing. Unleashing
Starting point is 00:52:54 a horrendous like blight on the citizens of the undercity that more or less turns them in the lepers that need curing. Kids, don't do drugs. Don't do drugs. Don't do drugs. Don't do drugs. Don't do drugs.
Starting point is 00:53:09 Where's the DARE program is on? Exactly. But was that drug invented by a scientist that wanted to save a dead daughter? Look, he did what he could. You know what I mean? Sure his daughter. He's still trying. It quite didn't work out for him.
Starting point is 00:53:21 What can you do? You know what I mean? Do I condone the behavior? Absolutely. Absolutely not. I'm not rocking with him at all. I see what the vision is. You love your family.
Starting point is 00:53:30 You want to see what you can do for your family. I get it. I wouldn't do that. It couldn't be me. Couldn't be me. but. Let that shit happen to me, though. What not happened to me, though.
Starting point is 00:53:41 Mel solves the puzzle in the ether. Xer brother's not real. Brothers not real. Great reveal. Even though I knew that he wasn't real, like great effect that they had where he's like phasing, like, way behind her and then forward. And like, he's like just behaving erratically.
Starting point is 00:53:58 It's really, really cool. It's great. I love this animation. They do the, you know, the voice distortion when he's like putting her hand on our shoulders and just like, I wrote a dear sister and it's like,
Starting point is 00:54:08 ah, yeah, you fake her. Yeah, you liar. And then they go back into the little void thing and we're like, did you know? And they put her in chains. Kind of crazy.
Starting point is 00:54:19 Little nuts. Little nuts. But that's what the- Cool effect, though. It was cool. Dude, you know that, that voice? That's Mini Driver.
Starting point is 00:54:25 Yeah. I'm looking at the credits. I was like, they got Mini Driver? They got Mini Driver? Hey got Mini Driver? I was like, oh, snap. they locked in for real.
Starting point is 00:54:35 And they, our girl has some superpowers, which is how I imagine she survived the council attack. Which is probably, yeah. That's how her and Jason survived a councilor.
Starting point is 00:54:46 Yeah, right? Well. But again, like, this is where we're like, okay, this is a big revelation that she's got some form of like major arcane powers
Starting point is 00:54:54 just lying dormant within her. Yeah. That this evil force kind of wants to siphon or use to some degree. And Flash of White, we don't know where, what happens next?
Starting point is 00:55:06 I'm sure we'll find out. I'm sure we'll find out much, much later. Jinks and Byer then tracking Vander and stumble upon one of his old letters in a very touching scene, in a very well, directed sequence. This is the thing that bandaged this, like...
Starting point is 00:55:21 See, that's why you gotta be mad. You can't be mad about it until you see the whole thing, I get you, I get you. But I loved the idea before, which we talked about when they had like a scuffle in like that little like mushroom tunnel where they were like punching each other
Starting point is 00:55:35 and then the lights were flashing. I don't know if you've ever had a sibling. Yes, I have a sister. I got a sister. That's exactly how you fight. Because you start yapping first, right? It was like, yo, you tripping. She was like...
Starting point is 00:55:50 The person that swings first is never the one that starts it. No, right? Well, they start yapping first, right? And, yo, James was talking to vibe crazy. She was like, I beat you already. You didn't last a second without these myths. Vi's like, yo, first of all, you'd be doing all them tricks. It's like, is that why I kicked your ass before?
Starting point is 00:56:10 And I was like, yo, Vi, you can't let that slide. You cannot. And she wasn't going to. And she wasn't going to. Yeah, yeah, no, she's still on it. And then she, you know, jigs hit him with a little slap. I was like, bet. Which I loved.
Starting point is 00:56:20 I loved that moment because she's like the second that she's talking and just in the mid-sentence. And she's like, yeah, what? And that's like, again, we saw them actually fight at the end of episode three, right? this was not that this is siblings doing like little petting shit doing just petty stuff by the way not to take away from the conversation we're having right now
Starting point is 00:56:40 but little Aisha gets involved again I'm sick of the kid getting involved mind your business did you see how Vod pushed her off and gave her a bloody nose yeah could have done that an episode ago two episodes ago oh yeah where was that energy where was that energy you know what I mean
Starting point is 00:56:55 where was that oh now you want to knock the kid off jinx oh interesting just throw an elephant How hard was that? How hard was that? How hard was that? But no, like, that's, it's just like,
Starting point is 00:57:07 it's not heartwarming. That's not the right word. But to see them acting like actual siblings again, not trying to kill each other. It's a slice of life, for sure. It's definitely like, it's definitely like a little, like, oh, man, like, be, you still got it. They don't actually want to kill each other.
Starting point is 00:57:21 They don't really want to do it. And that was, that and partnered with this letter that they read is a really well illustrated part of this. one of my favorite things is that when she's reading it it was both great and took me out of it for a second because when Jink starts reading the letter her voice then fades into Vander's voice
Starting point is 00:57:44 which to me is a great effect but then it will cut to her lips and Vander's voice is coming out and I think in a weird way I'm like that takes me out of it just a tiny bit because it's just this this like demure little character like huddled in a corner reading
Starting point is 00:58:02 a letter with like this very deep and cold me. They're like, I love you very much. I love you. I love you. And I'm like, okay, we could just like cut to hearing him as we cut to a montage and stuff. It was just a bit odd but like a very well
Starting point is 00:58:18 executed scene. That entire flashback sequence is beautiful. I mean, you talk about man, like, that's why I love the game, man. That's why I love the hustle, man. That's why I love this show. that entire sequence
Starting point is 00:58:32 informed so much about the entirety of this the series. Playing the song that came from season one. Brother, I mean, just from that,
Starting point is 00:58:39 like, this scene gives you so much depth and understanding about everything that we've seen in the show. So we find out
Starting point is 00:58:49 that Vise, mom, and Soko and Vander were a little little homies. You know what I'm saying? They were three pieces in a pod.
Starting point is 00:59:00 And, And when... Is this the thruple situation? No, bro. You're not paying attention, bro. You're trying to be horny. It's not time to be horny. They were looking at each other in different ways.
Starting point is 00:59:10 I'm just saying. Although I will say. I'm just saying. I will say. Where your mom at? Five, where your mom at? Yeah. She's looking good.
Starting point is 00:59:17 And I tell you exactly the moment is when she put the song on and then she was dancing to the bar and she was doing that like the smelling your armpits, like, dance that girls do sometimes. Or they're just like... She just looking good. there like that uh but we find out that they like again are three like really close friends and she told them she told silko and vander before she told her husband or boyfriend whoever that she was having vi right and that's a crazy thing to say well well she didn't know how he
Starting point is 00:59:55 would yeah you know what i'm saying like it's easy to tell you homies before you tell you know you your SO, you know what I mean? And so they have that conversation and talk about, you know, Frings on or making this place, you know, good for everybody. And my, like, first thoughts were I understand. I understand, like, everything about, maybe not everything, but I understand so much more about Fander and Soco and Powder and Vi, the entire thing.
Starting point is 01:00:27 Because remember we were in when we talked, we look back at season one, we're like, yo, why is Silco so attached to jinx is kind of weird? Like, you know, it's kind of gross. When you look at that through the lens of, oh, that was his home girl's daughter. Like, they were like this. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:00:46 That's why he could never give her up. Yeah. He was never, ever going to give her up. You know what I mean? You understand why Vander had that connection with Vian and Powder beginning. Because that, like, their jobs, Bozo 1 and Bozo 2, you know, with the little ankle binders around, we're going to protect those kids no matter what.
Starting point is 01:01:08 Beautifully done. Right? Absolutely beautifully done. What are my favorite sequences in the entire series? So when you look back at everything that happened in season, one of those first three episodes, and why Vander was never going to give those kids up, and why Silco was never going to give jinks up,
Starting point is 01:01:21 you understand because they have been there since the beginning. Literally, Vander was like, No name I've always liked, Violet. that's real hoops that's real and then when you cut and so and when you cut the wolfman attacking that's why they went in for the hug
Starting point is 01:01:39 man they all hugged it out for first of all that scene you like the scene episode four I like this scene in this episode because you can like literally see the bloodlust coming off of of Wolfman Vander oh yeah yeah it's like it calms it's literally like steaming off
Starting point is 01:01:56 of him beautiful when he sees powder and then he looks said Vi, but he doesn't know that's Vi. And so they're going through hands, but he's just, like, so conflicted. Like, literally, the bloodluss is calling him, but he can't because the vander within him doesn't want to do all that stuff until, you know, boom, you have that little moment where it all goes quiet and he jinx, likes the fire, so she's, uh, Vi, holding, holding pops. And then she's like, you're dad too.
Starting point is 01:02:25 Come in here. I'm like, that's really, me, man. I made something to me. Beautiful. I love it when a family comes together. Love it when a family comes together. One more scene, though. Jace comes out of the hex.
Starting point is 01:02:38 Oh, this is a little, bro. I was so lucky. Having a normal one. Brother man. Well, first of all, ain't a barber in the hex tech future, man? How long were you in there, my guy? Well, okay, so, like, there's a, first of all,
Starting point is 01:02:51 man looks great for a dude who was like. Great beard work. Brother. Love this for you. Brother. Love this look for you. Long hair, the beard. He bags for the Captain America in Affinity War.
Starting point is 01:02:59 You know what I mean? Being locked in the gym. The hammer looks cooler. He got like a brace on his leg. He's a shower, but you know, you're good. Brother, I know he smelled crazy. Yeah. I got to smell nasty.
Starting point is 01:03:09 It smells nuts in there. Brother. Woo. The fuck. What do you think that heck smells like? Oh, man, probably like fishing booty cheeks. It's bad. It's got to be.
Starting point is 01:03:19 It can't be good. But he comes out looking good, right? And he sees Salo walking. Walking. Walking. Walking. Walking. Walking.
Starting point is 01:03:27 Walking. Walking with the, with what I. I'm calling like the milk touch of eternity. The milk touch of eternity is crazy. Yeah. That sounds like a that sounds like a card and like a like a like a like a like a like a like a
Starting point is 01:03:40 like a like a year old year card. Uh huh. But like for a milkman. That sounds like Jomi's weekend. The milkman. Hey! Hey! That's funny. So I'm not going to get mad at that. That's actually that's a funny bit. But no,
Starting point is 01:03:52 respect me. Respect me. Respect me. Please. Let's be real. Let's be serious. This episode is brought to by Nass Energy, introducing new Nass Energy Grand Prix Guava. For those that want to be fueled up and fired up with a hundred-bound hour tropical tasting power, ignite your taste, start your engine, shift your flavor to high gear with new Nass Energy Grand Prix Guava. Hit the street, grab a can and get after it. But no, like, literally like, it's, well, it's, we're going to talk about it in the next episode,
Starting point is 01:04:31 but it's literally like somebody touched them on the face. and just like smeared it across him. He's like, oh, I know exactly what that is. It's literally just a hand to the face, right? And Salo has it and he's walking. And he's like, hey, oh, Salo, you're up. What's going on? He's like, I never thought I see you again.
Starting point is 01:04:47 I'm just here to pick up some groceries. I'm like, what are you doing here? Jason's like, hey, man, it's good to see you. We got to blow this thing up. Yeah, this is bad. This is real bad. Where is Harmoredigger and Echo? Who knows?
Starting point is 01:05:02 And frankly, who can? the show does it the show did I So is this the biggest problem for you coming out of these three episodes We're like where the fuck are these two characters I trust that we'll find out what happens to him And I'm sure that we will
Starting point is 01:05:13 But to have nothing But just like oh Jay survived The white man survived All right Interesting I don't think he's white But any whome Salo is Callow like Taps in with Victor
Starting point is 01:05:26 He's got like some kind of like No he just like He jacks his Bluetooth thing Yeah right Like just And like Which is a really effect because his eyes roll back and then
Starting point is 01:05:35 it's like another color. Yeah. And then it's Victor talking through him. And then there's that great camera where it like pans across and it's like different people talking. It's like, this is in confidence. I promise you. I owe him everything. And then talks right back to Victor. And they're now on opposite sides
Starting point is 01:05:51 of the arcane where Jace is like, actually, we got to blow this thing up. And Victor's like, change everything. Hey, actually, I need this because now I'm I'm, text Jesus. And we need to heal the sick and make the, make the walk again.
Starting point is 01:06:10 You know what I'm saying? Look, just come to me, just talk. And Jace is like, you know what? I'm not going to do that. In fact, I'm going to kill cello. I'm going to go, I'm going to do a smashy, smashy. I'm going to send him to the dirt. That was, man, that was fire.
Starting point is 01:06:28 This is going to be revealed like the very first scene of the next episode, but I thought he literally turned him into pay. With that hammer swing Well, again, the show does the crazy thing where he smacks him and the blood comes on the screen. Comes right on the camera. He turned that man into jelly.
Starting point is 01:06:46 He sent, I can't let you leave. I'm sorry, you feel that way. I'm sorry, too. Yeah, I got, bam. It was really great. He brought the hammer down. It was like, oh, shit. It was pretty incredible. It was pretty incredible.
Starting point is 01:06:59 That's a hell of a way to end the episode. Turn on episode six, baby. I'm locked this. Let's do it, episode six. Message Within the Pattern. Victor is in a galaxy far, far away. No music video. No music video. No music video.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Hector's just cooling in the ether. Him in the sky, man. In the sky. Hey, look, he's in the sky with sky. Shout out to him, because, again, we talk up. A lot of people will be fumbling baddies in this show. You know what I'm saying? Go to the ends of creation to find her again.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Look, you know what I'm saying? We all need a man like Victor in our lives. somebody who's willing to turn into Jesus just to see us again. See, now it's either you turn into Vi who crashes out and joins fight clubs or you become Jesus and meet a home girl in the afterlife.
Starting point is 01:07:46 No, but everybody who's under the sign of my voice, that's what you should want from your partner. You know what I'm saying? If something ever happened to me or if anything went wrong, you got to turn in Jesus and come find me. What you're not going to do is just go lying in bed with somebody else.
Starting point is 01:08:00 That's crazy. Victor is definitely a, come to church with me type of dude. Victor, look, here's the thing about Victor, Victor. Joe means to come to church with me. No, here's what I'm about, right? Please tell us what you're about.
Starting point is 01:08:14 Here's what I'm about, okay? What I don't expect much. I'm gonna ask him for a lot. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But by the way, Jomi is wearing his priest's robes right now with his walking
Starting point is 01:08:30 king. I got a Starfleet Academy shirt, I'm relaxed. If I die, something ever happens to me and we're together and I'm gone, all I ask is that you never fall in love ever again. Because if I wasn't the one, you know what I'm saying? Right. Like, if I'm in heaven and I see you canoomal him with somebody else, I'm coming back. It's hands.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Okay. So you're sky in the situation. I'm sky. Hey, hey, hey, hey, God, right here, my boy. Yeah, it's not. Send me back down. You got to be nothing less than become a Messiah figure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:00 heal the sick, make a commune. Yep. Because what's not going to happen is I'm going to die. Is you falling in love again? I'm going to die. If anything,
Starting point is 01:09:09 you got to be like, you got to tell the other person, listen, you're not going to my number one. My number one, he died. You just really number two. First of all,
Starting point is 01:09:16 number one, up in the sky. Oh, please. Number two. Yeah, that's right. That's really what it is. It's got to be like, listen, my home,
Starting point is 01:09:21 the love of my life died, you really just substitute until I get back up there. I can take that. I can understand that. What's not going to happen. What's not going to happen is that like I die You out there like yeah you are new number one
Starting point is 01:09:33 No, no no I'm coming back there Okay so all those cute stories about like Like a guy Who's wife dies and then he Rekindles a love with his high school sweetheart After like 80 some odd years That's not a cute story to you brother man I'm blowing the earth up
Starting point is 01:09:48 I'm blowing the earth up I'm finding her soul Yeah God where was that asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago? Let's bring that back run that back Run that's not going down on my watch me personally I wouldn't take that. All right. Well, Victor is taking the high road
Starting point is 01:10:02 and just casually observing Jay's putting the hammer down on Sallow. He didn't get too mad at that. He wasn't a talk about that. Really, this is the circle of life with this guy. He's like, oh, dang, not Sallow. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:10:15 Well, let's tap into somebody else. Anyway, he just kept pushing. Which, by the way, what an existence Sallow must have had. He was like, he had to go all the way down to the under city, get healed, join the commune go get a go on a grocery run for hex and then get killed imagine i was like his first week back with the legs bro and he was just like really like in touch and so happy first week it could have been like days you know what we know and he went but he was like
Starting point is 01:10:43 yo i got my legs back i'm gonna go to the i'm gonna go on the grocery one hey why don't you i can guess what we're using them now you're using him now go go on the run and then he meet up with jason it's kind of like yeah i can't like this kind of disrespect slide my boy yeat tough tough for sallow well and then we cut to katelyn training with ambessa uh be strong this was this was one of my first ones where i was like all right what i mean ambessa like cool it i don't like you the guile you gotta have the guile you gotta have the um
Starting point is 01:11:15 the sneakiness it's a it's a long truncated lock-in sequence all right embassas just trained that like okay test the loyalty no no right it's a lot sequence, right? That's important. It's important. It'll come back later. You know what's important, right? That's the thing about the show.
Starting point is 01:11:31 It doesn't really waste scenes. We have questions about like what... How many scenes we can cram into one episode, but it doesn't waste scenes. This scene's important. Very true. You know, we see Rictus with his little magic stones putting them into fire, right? Which again, I want to know more about this deal. Like, clearly Mbessa and her cronies have like some sort of black magic dealings that they're
Starting point is 01:11:54 just now reaping what they're sewing there. That I'm more interested in that. I love it when villains make deals with devils just to get more power. We'll find out later, but I think Ambassador is kind of imparting Caitlin with some wisdom that she doesn't know that Caitlin is going to use it against her, right? It's something that I think is important for the episode is that Kalin is learning,
Starting point is 01:12:19 but not the way Ambessa wants her to. Exactly. All right. Cut to Jigs and Vi. They're taking Wolf Victor. Wolf Victor. Wolf Victor.
Starting point is 01:12:29 Wolf Vandr. Volf Vandr. It's Volf Vandr. That's what I have in the notes. They come to the hippie commune. Yeah. The Victor's set up. Full keto options.
Starting point is 01:12:40 Okay. So, by the way. It's keto, full keto. Yeah. Fruits and veg. Yeah, where's to meet at, though? I know. And Bess has got the meat, but.
Starting point is 01:12:47 All right. What do you mean? She was cutting meat with sins in the tag. I understand. So why are you acting like I said something crazy? I didn't. It's facts. All right, let's relax.
Starting point is 01:12:57 Okay. It's 10 a.m. All right. We don't need to be out here being nasty. Okay. It's the weekend, all right? It's a freaking weekend. So, and this is where I, like, you know, I have questions.
Starting point is 01:13:10 They got the whole calming shut up. It's kind of like, dang, a lot of people got here. With a quickness, they set up everything they need. I mean, we assume it's been weeks, but like, we don't know that. But we're just like, oh. Y'all, y'all got this little thing going on. But to be fair, if a magic man cured you of every single thing that was wrong with you, would you stay? Probably not.
Starting point is 01:13:34 No? No, I got things to do. It's only because you know. They got cable in there? Well, then you, so you turn it down because you know that he could just Bluetooth into your brain anytime. If he could just heal me and then I can go back and watch the Lakers somewhere else, I'm going to go watch Lakers somewhere else. That's ultimately what they really don't have the entertainment option. That's what I'm saying, right?
Starting point is 01:13:52 Like, they got a movie theater down there. there like brother they got a interstellar coming back to theaters yeah that's the thing though you get you get you have to get healed but then you're probably on like fruit and veg duty that's what i'm like ah it's not really where i'm at you're on the you're at the laundry yeah brother and you're hand drying too they don't really have like a lot of machines out there just give me to just give me to brother and i'll be out of there i'll be out of your hair don't worry about me boss are you gonna pray to him at least did you pray to do you pray to victor here here here here's a fiver this my tithe wow there's a fiber my boy you know what I'm saying buy yourself he got a he got to you got a a senator cured and you're just like,
Starting point is 01:14:27 nah, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go watch LeBron. Listen, yeah. Look, who do you think? They don't call him King James for a reason. All right, all right. So clearly you bow to that altar. Come on now. We see you now.
Starting point is 01:14:39 Three triple doubles. We see you now. At 39 years old. Jordan was gambling then. All right. Is that your God? Is this your king? Is that your king?
Starting point is 01:14:50 My king is James. Can he play for Los Angeles Lakers? Let's go. Can't Victor? Hoop. Think about it. Think about it. Think about it. Think if we being real about it, we want to continue this analogy. Right. Right. We got the father and a son in the league right now. Come on. Right. What kind of time of y'all are right now? Y'all know. Viguer's just the holy ghost. You know what I'm saying? Like, let's be for real, bro. Victor who? Victor who? Victor who?
Starting point is 01:15:12 LeBron James. That's my Victor. So your Victor's not Wemby? Well, listen, this is the third time we brought up Wemby in three podcasts. This is really the official Wemby podcast. Okay. Is that our Kris cream award? He just had 50? Well, he had 50 last night. That boy was bawled. He did? Yeah, 50. Yeah, that boy, he can be hooping right now. All right, wow. All right, so Victor meets Wolf Daddy and attempts to reach him through the ether, through his brain.
Starting point is 01:15:35 This one's going to be difficult. Yeah, he's kind of a wolf. Yeah, it's a lot, a lot of, a lot going on. A lot of, a lot of, like, you know, mental guck to sift through to find him. Victor was kind of in his bag, though, because, you know, he reaches Victor, and then he understands, like, he literally calls. I love when he, I love this effect because every time he, like, this is to, like, this is to, like, pretty much know that every time he saves somebody, he knows their entire life.
Starting point is 01:15:59 Yeah, right? And he gets, he's talking to powder, or he's talking to Jinx and Vi about what they can do for their pops, and he calls Jinx powder. Yeah. And that kind of is like, that jars for a second.
Starting point is 01:16:11 Which also, we cannot, like, forget the flex that the show just has when the montage of their lives comes when he, when he touches Vander, they just change up animation styles. And it's this beautiful watercolor montage.
Starting point is 01:16:25 of their childhood for no reason other than just like, hey, this is how he sees their childhood in Vander's eyes. The way they do exposition in the show is really, really well done. It's not, it's always through like some type of montage or some type of thing. It's not somebody sitting down explaining you the details. It's really like it continues the plot.
Starting point is 01:16:47 They don't stop the action, just explain something to you. It's always showing you something and you're learning new things about these characters. I see $250 million on the screen. time. Every time. And so in that particular instance, you understand, like, his connection with them and their connection to him. And why, again, while you're like in episode five, you're kind of like, well, they kind of got over it quickly because of that kind of stuff, right? Like, they literally grew up with him. He's been there since the beginning. There isn't a world where, yo,
Starting point is 01:17:17 Vanner needs my help. You don't come, you don't answer that call. Exactly. Yeah. So Victor decides to take in Vander and then we have a meeting at the gates pretty much with our military forces and the commune. They seem to find them pretty quickly and... They weren't really hiding. Well, they weren't hiding, but it's just like, okay, this is our next form of attack.
Starting point is 01:17:41 Then they bring in singed, brokering a piece, ah, this is a man of science, a former student of mine, maybe perhaps we can talk. Then they have a bit of a philosophical reasoning as to why they should just roll over this commune. I look, man, Victor was so good in this part. Victor was great because... Victor was like, yeah, you know, as many sciences,
Starting point is 01:18:02 it's like knowledge of paradox, the one we know, the less we understand. This is the smartest storytelling thing that the show has done so far to me. It's when he touches Victor and Victor gets the download of, like, the daughter, his reasoning for why he's, like, he's experimented on Vander,
Starting point is 01:18:22 all of these things. he never mentions it. He never plays to that emotional side of his logic because he believes that as a man of science, he should understand these things. So he decides to talk above him rather than being like, this is more than just your personal thing. When really, Victor's doing the same thing.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Victor is in this for sky. He's doing these things for sky. But it's on the opposite end. he's with Sky in a way. I don't think he's doing it for Sky. But he, like, he, like, he perpetuated this. I think, I think what it occurred is, like, he got Sky killed doing his little science.
Starting point is 01:19:05 And he was driven to work on her vision. Well, exactly. Now he has an opportunity to not, like, not rectified because she's not coming back. Yeah. But to build upon what she, you know, tried to teach him in the, in the real life, in the real life. while she was alive, right? You have a second chance to do what you're always supposed to do.
Starting point is 01:19:28 Do you take that opportunity, or do you run away with it? Now he's taking that opportunity with Sky, you know, which, like, they do a good thing where, like, Sky, like, appears in, like, real life, but she's not really there. You know what I mean? I think it's pretty smart. But in that scene of particular, Victor was handling his business
Starting point is 01:19:44 when he was like, this isn't a specimen, this is a man. Yes. I'm not going to, you know, I'm not going to ruin his humanity for your cause. You ain't got to go home, but you can't stay here. And he's like, you may live. You may live.
Starting point is 01:19:59 But also, a homeboy says it pretty much best. Just so you know, if you die, pretty much everybody else is going to follow with you. And a great bit of foreshadding that I don't even know if he was if he meant to be that on the nose about it. But I think, I don't think Victor might know that, though, already. I don't think Victor was like surprised by it. Well, he's already, what he also was like, you know, that energy is finite, right? you're already feeling weak. And that is also very smart.
Starting point is 01:20:22 And like you'd think that both of these men, while one clearly more like seemingly physically powerful than the other, are on equal playing fields when it comes to the things that they're in an impasse about. The ways that Victor is coming at him, both, like they both understand each other as to why they're on the opposite sides of this conflict. And it's just more of like a meeting in the middle only to understand that they'll now go to, their battle lines and have it out.
Starting point is 01:20:53 And I thought that this was like amazingly illustrated, amazingly well told. And probably one of my standout dramatic moments of this show. And then we get a bit of a reunion. Oh! Brother. How do we feel about this?
Starting point is 01:21:15 Vi and Caitlin do a nice little body slam and they're back at it. You know what I'm saying? that's how you know it's true love for real because imagine you see your ex somewhere and the first thing they do is tagging to the ground and you're like
Starting point is 01:21:32 hey hey yo hey you look busted man Logan's punching the air right now by the way Logan's punching the curb your whole outfit crazy is this who you are now I love that scene
Starting point is 01:21:44 for obvious reasons but like your ex ever talked down to you you'd be like what's with your clothes right now you know what I'm saying but that's that's real love because took it in stride. She was like, she was like,
Starting point is 01:21:54 you're talking about me. Your hair looked like, oh, it's slick. Don't come to me with that. Yeah. Don't come with me with that. Miss Copaganda. Right?
Starting point is 01:22:01 Leave me alone. Op. And, you know, and then again, show, show operand a different level. Vi calls her cupcake again. And that's the signal to both of them.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Like, we still locked in. Yep. We still locked them for real. I knew. I 100% knew. Oh, the second that that seed ended,
Starting point is 01:22:20 they're like, all right, They're back in business. As soon as she brought, like, I got vaugh, I was like, all right, yeah, that's the setup. Yeah, that's a setup. That's a setup. Which, by the way, like, weird detail that I love,
Starting point is 01:22:31 the, like, rack of lamb that. Yeah, the meat I was, talking about earlier. Chomping on was nuts. It was huge. It was like a Flintstones level brisket. Yeah, well, yeah. Getting her protein in, for sure. You got to get those macros in, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:22:47 I mean, diesel, so you got to keep it up. It's, honestly, it's, maintenance more often than anything else. Probably, definitely, definitely. But yeah, she brings Vine. I'm like, yeah, that's, they're cooking some up, obviously. Can't wait to see what that is. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:59 And then in the middle of this, by the way, Crashout King Jace, just sneaking up on the convent. And he's having visions. Yeah. He said, like, if you got like, Raven visions. Not, it's more like, he's just seeing stuff like, he's seeing like gods or deities or any of it's, whatever.
Starting point is 01:23:17 He is seeing like whether it's like in the past. or maybe in the future, whatever. But he's seeing stuff that we haven't seen yet and hopefully we'll understand where all those things are coming from. Right. So they devise a plan. They are basically arrest by. They're going to interrogate her in the camp.
Starting point is 01:23:36 She spits in Kalin's face and Kalin doesn't blink. I'm familiar with your game. Maybe they might have done that before. She's into that. They definitely did that before. Jokes on you. I like that shit.
Starting point is 01:23:47 It'd be great if they just, she just went like. That'd be crazy. That'd have been. I was waiting for that to be, like she just wipes it with a thumb and brings it. She's just like, like, like a chameleon tongue, just like, it would have been a little, it would have been a little bit of a tell so I could see why I didn't do that. You have to, but she'd even, I mean, shout out to Kaylin though. Then Alyssa would have been like, uh, what?
Starting point is 01:24:07 And Melissa would have been like, yeah, but Kaylin didn't even blink. I mean, Kaylin was like, hey, what's up? We're taking that on the chair. I'm very surprised that she was caught slipping like this. I really am. Who? Ambessa? Embessa?
Starting point is 01:24:18 That's what I'm, that's why I'm telling you, man, like a lot of this stuff It's like, no, no, no, we're not letting you playing with your ex right now. Well, here's the thing, right? And she sold herself in that moment where she's talking to device, she's like, you could have been
Starting point is 01:24:35 great from our organization, but you're a distraction. You get Caitlin all round up. You make, you know what I'm saying? You make her, like Maggie, you know, episode four, doesn't move the same. Nope. Doesn't move the same. keeps Caitlin on, you know what I'm saying, on even keel.
Starting point is 01:24:54 When Vi enters the room, things start to get a little messy. I'm glad you're not here. And frankly, we don't have room for you in the organization. Yeah. So. You met the criteria to be selected. But you were not. But you weren't because if you were, you're going to mess everything up.
Starting point is 01:25:11 I have, I have Caitlin by the palm of my hand. If I ask her to jump, she says how high. Right. You messed that up for every. everybody. I can't really have you around, right? But what she doesn't know is that Caitlin and V are locked in forever. Besties for the resties. Okay, they were roommates. You know what I'm saying? And so history will tell them. History will say that they were roommates. And they were roommates. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. They were roommates. And so they already had a plan.
Starting point is 01:25:48 Yeah. They had a plan. Caitlin laid it all out. They got the people here. Got the people here with some perfect timing and some luck. Yep. We can make it happen and gets Ambessa on the ambush. Meanwhile, back at the commune. Back the commune.
Starting point is 01:26:05 First of all, you hate the plucky little Aisha, but she was locked in. She was locked in for like, yes. No, no, no. For two things in this episode. Three things, because she stole the hex cores out of Vise Gauntlets. Oh yes, very true Right Very true
Starting point is 01:26:22 Then she went and got the gun Mm-hmm Jinks's gun So that they can Uh help to free Or at least help Apprehend Uh,
Starting point is 01:26:33 like stop sinch That's right Meanwhile Jace is making his move Inside Uh Almost going crazy And Almost
Starting point is 01:26:42 I mean about to go nuts Yeah He pulled out the hammer On a little child And then he snaps out of it He was He was right He was ready to blow that kid to Smithorines.
Starting point is 01:26:51 Exactly. Can't do that. But also, speaking of being blown to Smithereens, Bander, like, just absolutely guts our boy. Rickus, right? Oh, bro. Rickus got evictus out of his body. Turn, put a lighter flick on here for me, man.
Starting point is 01:27:06 Put some blood. That little Wayne flick. Come on, no, we smoking them Ricktish runs, baby. Yeah. I've been waiting for this. I've been waiting for his pack, man. Ever since episode three when I was like, oh, he was behind.
Starting point is 01:27:17 Like, I mean, obviously, Ambestos is to. Hegg person. Yeah. But Rick Dispin, he had acting kind of fully these last couple episodes. So don't touch my door. Why, man, he put the paws on that boy. I was hype. It was great.
Starting point is 01:27:30 I was hype. And then intercut, Jace, having a tough time reckoning with Victor. He's just like, yo, brother, I got to do this thing, man. You know what I'm saying? We got to stop you. In his head, you know, like literally like whatever happened in the Hex Corps, he is convicted that the hex cannot be unleashed on this realm. He must have seen some foul stuff.
Starting point is 01:27:55 He saw the eyes of Cthulhu in there. Clearly because he was like, I don't know if he's just like, I mean, maybe it's confliction, but maybe he's just also like, yo, this thing has gotten so bad. If I don't do this, bro, it's all the way over. I think that we, again, I understand that we will likely get to why this is. so important to Jace to just end this and to kill Victor. You're... What?
Starting point is 01:28:24 Oh, yes, you agree. Yeah, I was like, yeah. I thought to say your, sorry. No, no, you're, you're, yeah. And in the moment, when Jace kills him, it still feels not selfish, but not entirely unmotivated. No. As to like, you can't know how bad this he is
Starting point is 01:28:48 to where I'm going to kill one of my best friends and colleagues in the world to make sure that this stops. And I get it that this is a Victor-centered episode and how he sees all and how Hex has changed his perception. I can easily see that we are going to know Jace's point of view in the coming episodes. But right now it's just like, again, like blowing the chest out of his best friend,
Starting point is 01:29:16 we are left stunned with the idea that he's just killed Victor. Especially knowing like this is episode six and we have a week to see what happens next. To see the entirety of this play out. It is kind of nuts. I think the episode does a good job where it starts with the little, the gear. The gear and like the shattering of the ceiling and like images. And what's, what's the Victor or not Victor? Chase with the hammer.
Starting point is 01:29:41 Yes. Right? We assume that it's sallow, right? We see that it's shallow. But ultimately we learn to find out that it's, you know, it's also Victor. And it's kind of like a, you know, it's not quite an inception because we know it's real. But he aligns himself with his own fate. He accepts it.
Starting point is 01:29:56 He is like embracing the thing. He sees the grand wheels. Yeah, they literally have the gear, the one with the, um, the hex, you know, infection, the one without it. Yeah. Where does it lie, right? The, the gear literally rolls and we see it land on the side of the hex take. You know, that's choosing, choosing fate, right? You're going with pro-hex-tech, non-hex tech, right?
Starting point is 01:30:19 And when they blow up, when he blows up Victor, everybody else. Go with him. Phantom Menace style. Pretty bad. Get them all out of there. They went out like the Chachari, man. Disconnected, and everybody in the commune dies. I guess they kind of did.
Starting point is 01:30:37 They pretty much did. We see their souls, like, just evaporate. it seems. Victor and Vander that stuff. Vander 2 man. Vander 2 man. Vander 2 and
Starting point is 01:30:48 it's safe to say that everything then goes to shit. It's not good. Not only does Vander not snap out of it, he like pretty much reverts to the old beast. Even like worse.
Starting point is 01:31:01 And like lava infused blood. And I'm like, oh my God, like this is like, is he just going to explode? And in a way, seems like you might. Embesces forces attack and... She's seen the duplicity of Kate and is like,
Starting point is 01:31:20 no more. Sparks fly, battle ensues. In the chaos, Jinks and Vi are like held together. They're trying to escape while Vander is fighting off the rest of Ambesta's forces. And we see our little,
Starting point is 01:31:40 our little kiddo Take the Hex Corps All three of them All three of them Charges it all up And a real badass thing Yo, you was hating But it was cool, what?
Starting point is 01:31:52 This was cool That when we talk about like screenshots That like moments In the episode like frame When she's like hunkered underneath Brother, dog About to blow Like set it off
Starting point is 01:32:04 Cinema, bro That was nuts That was real In that same In that same sequence you see, if I got their hands, she was putting paws on people, and then Kate came back to save her a girl.
Starting point is 01:32:16 That's what I'm talking about. That's real lover stuff. Exactly. But that scene, because we have the scene in episode four where Jinks is going to sacrifice herself for Aisha. Isha's crying, doing the whole thing. Then we see the flip side of that in this episode, right,
Starting point is 01:32:34 where Aisha takes all the cores, loads up Jinks gun, is ready to go, looks at Jinks, and does the same thing. that jinx did to her an episode, the first episodes of the of the show, right?
Starting point is 01:32:47 And it's like, dang. And then, pachsh, blows the whole thing out. Bam. I was like, yo, that,
Starting point is 01:32:53 the symmetry of those two sequences. I felt something. And then we're not even talking about the little crayon animation thing with Jinks and Aisha, the life they live together. Again,
Starting point is 01:33:08 another, another animation. style switch up that is just another flex. That meant something to me, man. Well, because thinking about she's a little child, that's how she would see the world, you know? And just to see, like, how she viewed the relationship with jinx through her
Starting point is 01:33:24 eyes and why I mean so much to her. I'm not going to say I got it, like, crazy motion. I wasn't crying or nothing. But I was like, dang, a little, honey. At first I thought she was an op. But you really came around. Pull through. If this is how you go out, man.
Starting point is 01:33:43 This is how you go out? We send it up players for you, my boy. All right. So, in conclusion, to wrap up, that's the end of our final episode of this part. Is that kid really dead? Probably. You think so? Nah, me, who knows?
Starting point is 01:33:58 Maybe. Nobody dies. All right. Where do we go from here? What's to happen? Only people who die are vice parents and the council. Jesus. Everybody else stays alive.
Starting point is 01:34:07 And those poor five. of the commune, it seems. I mean, yeah, tough for them. You hate to see it. I mean, they probably had a good three weeks. Yeah, clear, yeah, right? Like a good month. Yeah. You know? Clean and sober. Can't walk. Can't want them all. You know what I mean? Where do we go from here? That's interesting. There's a lot to go from.
Starting point is 01:34:23 There's a lot to... Again, it's... A lot of friends. Got to get closed up. It's... We don't... Like, if they go by this pace, we have, like, an hour and a half's worth of content to speed through, to come to an ending of not only this season, but this show. show? What if, and now hear me out, what if every single episode in part three is 90 minutes long?
Starting point is 01:34:47 That would be nuts, but I wouldn't be surprised. It won't be that because that's insane. That would explain $250 million. Yeah, maybe. I would explain that. But, no, I mean, I think we'll have to see what happens with Echo and Homer Dinger and Chase next year. We have to see
Starting point is 01:35:03 what's going on with the mail. I think my big question is how do we bring everybody together for the final, you know, tussle. Can we presume this will be a happy ending? Like, even at this point, like, there's so many things to walk away from here. If you think the story has a happy ending,
Starting point is 01:35:19 you have a big attention. Oh. Yeah, so I think we'll have to see what it looks like. Again, like, we're cool with Jinks, but Zinc's was kind of wild, and you know what I mean? People want their pound of flesh. It's possible.
Starting point is 01:35:34 You know? But we also want the whole world to live in harmony. That's the idea, right? So, we got the blood, bro. Like, there's... Can you solve world peace in 90 minutes? Probably not, right? So it might not be like a...
Starting point is 01:35:51 I'm not going to say like a complete resolution. I think the story would be complete. But in terms of these characters are not going to walk to the sunset with everything being all sweet. I don't think that's how that goes. I do think they, like, they got to say goodbye to Wolfman, Wolfman Vander.
Starting point is 01:36:06 I don't think that's there to stay. you know what I mean? And then where does that put Vi in jinks? Right? Because aside from that, that's the only thing keeping them together. They've kind of rekindled some sisterhood. But at the same time, like... Like, are wounds healed?
Starting point is 01:36:21 We don't know. You know what I mean? Yeah. Right? Like, so there's a lot of like just plot stuff and emotional stuff that needs to get resolved. I think they can do it. I believe... I think they can too.
Starting point is 01:36:31 It's just more of like, I am looking at the things that they got to wrap up and it's a mountain. It's a mountain. There's a lot going on. And again, this. whole thing has to come down to two sides. And when I look at the chess board, it kind of feels like Mbessa has the upper hand. She's got the army. He's got the folks.
Starting point is 01:36:48 Well, maybe she doesn't anymore, depending on the breath of the explosion. Maybe, you can, like, maybe rallies on against Ambeza's forces with Caitlin. But then does Caitlin go, y'all, I'm going to try to see forces, you know, y'all come to my stuff. What does the whole service thing about this? Like, it's a lot. There is so much. I think it's going to do the thing that always does where there's going to be some crucial
Starting point is 01:37:08 information that they're going to be like, you're going to give us two sentences. But like, yeah, I went back to the surface and I did all this and now we're here this moment in time. It's like, okay, cool. We'll rock with it. I cannot wait to see what happens how this story finishes. Brother, we're at the end of Arcane, man. At the end of all things. It's over. Can't wait.
Starting point is 01:37:28 It's over. I can't wait to see what happens. It's amazing. We're so happy to get to talk about the show. And we're so excited to get to see it. Dude, we're here, brother. We're at the end of the line We're at the end of the line
Starting point is 01:37:41 We got one more line to wrap up Let's keep it quick because Like House of R We're running a little long today I'm not that long What is it like 90 minutes? We're running a little long That's fine
Starting point is 01:37:52 Let's do a little freestyle Let's do a little freestyle On Legend of Vox Machina A season 3 The Legend of Vox Machina baby All right We push this out This season three wrapped up
Starting point is 01:38:02 In October, late October And it's finally all here Jomey what did you think? I thought It was fantastic. I had a great time watching these characters again. You know, Vex and Vax and Percy and Pike and Scallon and Grog. I missed those folks.
Starting point is 01:38:22 You know, I really, I really did. See them back. I think this season in particular was, I think, so the show, like, is emotional. And they have, like, these beats and, you know, for these characters and what they need to, like, get through and grow. with each other. I think this one took an interesting journey and really gave us the emotional struggles
Starting point is 01:38:42 of these characters. And for some, it was like romance like with Vax and Percy and Vex and Kiki. But then it was like Scalyn and his daughter. He was just like, yo,
Starting point is 01:38:56 this whole thing is cool. I love finding a world with y'all but I don't really, I don't, I like myself better when I'm with my little girl. And I'm not saying it like it's overtook
Starting point is 01:39:07 the, you know, action and, you know, all the set piece stuff because they definitely had more of that. But when all of that is rooted in that emotion and that those feelings for those characters, I was like, oh, this is kind of guess. What are we all? Let's do it. It really does speak to the not only the popularity,
Starting point is 01:39:23 but the quality of the product that comes out of critical role as a staff record label, honestly. Like, not only is it one of the most popular, like YouTube and shows on Twitch and just D&D Enterprises full stop, they're professional actors, they're, like, incredible writers, and they're great storytellers.
Starting point is 01:39:45 And when that's paired with even, like, a decent workhouse from their animation team, it's wonderful. I think, again, it's very hard to come off of arcane to look at this and be like, okay, we're going to... All right. It's been an unfair comparison, which we're not going to do.
Starting point is 01:40:04 We're not going to do that. Yeah, don't do that. I'm not going to do that. You know, the dragons look the way that the dragons look. All right, bro, come on, man. Like, look, is it perfect? No. No.
Starting point is 01:40:12 You know, rest of... That's not $250 million. No. Rest in peace, last redic, man. He was... Man, man. God, he was doing his thing. He was doing his thing, man.
Starting point is 01:40:21 Miss him, miss him every day. He was doing his thing as Thor Dac. You speak in animation, though. Don't disrespect, brother. I'm watching it. I'm watching episode five, man. This is the fight with the Titan and the, uh, the dragon, right? Vorogal, and they're going back and forth
Starting point is 01:40:38 and brother, when that little demon titan hit Vorgoal with the Stold Cold Stunner, I leapt out of my chair, bro. That was the craziest thing I've ever seen, dog. I think they actually like rotoscope that from a stone cold stunter. Dog, he puts his head on a shot.
Starting point is 01:40:58 I was like, no, he's not about to. And he drops, I was like, oh! I'm waiting for an RKO for the finale. I was like, oh, shit, that was crazy. Like, you know, it has, it has absolute, like, moments of just pure joy and bliss, like, sprinkled heavily amongst just some of the angst and, like, emotion, emotional wear and tear this character has been through over the last, the previous two seasons and this season, I think when I think about the season as a whole, I feel like they've split up the characters, right? So everybody's doing their own thing now. Like Percy and Vax are, you know, doing their thing. Vex and Keyleth are doing their thing and Grog and Pike.
Starting point is 01:41:43 And then he got Scanlon and Kaylee, like, being a family. I wonder, like, how they're bringing back together for season, season four. I know they have, like, the little teaser at the end there. I don't quite know what that means. I'm not locked in on the critical role lore as much. But I just know that, like, their journeys are, like, being, like, the wrong, because again, they talk a lot about, like, we know who we are
Starting point is 01:42:06 as a group, as a family, like the seven of us, but what happens? With all of their backstores, which are, like, wonderfully illustrated to in the individual episodes, like, very little to complain about here. Yeah, but it's like, who are we on our own? You know, what is just us, too, where it's just me and which and which and this and that.
Starting point is 01:42:26 And so I'm interested to see what that looks like next season when I have to come together, and they've all been on their own separate journey. You know, but I think as a season TV, again, enjoyable, fun to watch, hilarious dialogue. Pike was really cooking this season. You know, they let her have a lot of fun. And I just, I had a blast. I can't wait for season four in 2027.
Starting point is 01:42:48 It's going to be great. We wish that we could see it more. But then again, all of our animation dreams take a little bit longer to cook. Brother man, they, shout out Japanese, bro. You know what I'm saying? You get a season TV every, every, every, every, every. work. They,
Starting point is 01:43:02 you get it done. You know what I'm saying? They'll be making one piece. Actually, one piece on a six month hiatus because the book is on hiatus. Right. So it's not quite the same. Don't make a fill or shit.
Starting point is 01:43:13 But they've been locked in. You know what I'm saying? Just making one piece for 400 years now. Yeah. No I mean? And it'll be going long after we're dead. Imagine if it was getting arcane every week. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:43:24 Imagine if it's getting vox walk every week. I feel like the gross domestic product of France would actually go down because of the expense of that show.
