Starting point is 00:03:23 I've considered Jomey like a part of the family. Like Jomey is like our brother. And so he goes, hey, man, collaborate on this real. Make sure you collaborate. I went, no. He went, thanks, brother, appreciate it. That's great. I love that.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I love that. If he had come back, if he had come back with some weird, type of guilt trip, hey, really please do it? That would have started the bullshit. That would have started the bullshit. But he went, hey, man, thanks. I really appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And I was like, fuck! Wait, did you learn that from fucking Logan Murdoch? Because he'd be doing that shit. Anytime Logan wants me to do so, he just like, hey, yo, I need this real quick. And then he just leaves. I'm like, what? And he's just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, just handle it. And I'm like, bro, dog.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Now, here's what it was. I was in the movie. Oh. And so, like, the trailers are going. So I'm like, yo, before this. we start. Let me make sure Van sees this. And he goes, no, I'm like, the Nicole Kidman part is rolling up.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Thanks, bro. I appreciate you. Let me put the phone away. Let me lock it. It was effective. I meet what I said about Homelander, too. He's a, he's terrifying. Listen, guys, it's very important for the algorithm that you guys like, comment, and subscribe. When I'm watching the different YouTube's
Starting point is 00:04:52 that I watch, all different types of YouTube's, and I always feel so sorry when people have to ask for the likes, and the comments and the describes, because it literally, just listen, it literally takes no effort to do it. Just hit the like button. Just hit the like button, hit the subscribe button,
Starting point is 00:05:06 just touch it. It don't cost no money. It don't cost no money. Nah, but you want to know I don't like to like and subscribe because now the fucking midnight mob is going to be like, fuck your like and subscribe. Charles is being a hater. I'm never liking and subscribing.
Starting point is 00:05:19 So now they have another way to hate. Let me tell you something. See that? It's very telling. We're going to do because I think that we should all, now that we're on video, I was thinking about this. I think that we should all have psychological evaluations.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And I want to bring somebody on video video. On pod? Yeah. Okay. Honestly, I'm not opposed to this. What? I want to do midnight therapy. Midnight therapy
Starting point is 00:05:40 Okay Midnight therapy Oh I thought you were bringing into like a police officer To be like Who's a psychopath I love this
Starting point is 00:05:47 Take the take Look how nervous you got Yeah Like look He's in Look how nervous he was Look how nervous he got I can't
Starting point is 00:05:56 I can't Like how nervous he got right there I want to bring in A therapist Or a mental health professional I was We should have done this
Starting point is 00:06:04 For Mental Health Month Arjuna Do you have Papercom Like a midnight therapy session where we all sit around and talk about us. Can we take the table out and it can just be us on four different
Starting point is 00:06:14 couches? Just loungers. Right. The eyes from paper towel. Fainting couch. Firm gave me his dirty ass one napkin bro. Fucking, I know it's rough out here, but niggas can't get paper towel. Also, the Ringerva will be live at the L. Ray Theater this summer in L.A. will be
Starting point is 00:06:30 there on July 17th. Talk the Thrones will be there on June 25th. That's coming up. Yeah. There is. Check out Ringer. dot com events for more information. Right on. Every Tuesday and Thursday, House of R
Starting point is 00:06:44 will deep dive into the House of the Dragon and the Acolyte. Respectively, every Monday and Thursday, the Midnight Boys will give you their reactions to Hot D. Thursday, the Boys and the Acolyte. On today's show, it is a monumental show, a big show. Wouldn't you say, Chuck? The biggest.
Starting point is 00:07:02 The biggest. We'll be giving you our reactions to the season two premiere of House. of the dragon. Now, we're going to give you spoilers right now, the warning for House of the Dragon, which is very important. I'll tell you why.
Starting point is 00:07:19 When I first started watching House of the Dragon, the first episode, I realized that I completely forgot. What happened? You just went into that episode cold. You're like, oh, wait, what? Oh, I didn't even go hold you. There was a couple characters popping up.
Starting point is 00:07:34 I'm like, who? That was one for me. That was split up. What was that? So we're going to spoil it, which might actually help you guys, because I then have to go back and spend Saturday, rewatch the whole first season, so that I remember, like, what was going on.
Starting point is 00:07:50 She popped up and he looked different. I'm like, that's not the same motherfucker. But it's been a couple years. So the spoilers in this episode, if you have not done a refresher on episode one, might actually help you as we go back to talk about some things that happened in the first season. But I really do,
Starting point is 00:08:07 if you want to get the full enjoyment of the show because there's so many different time jumps and the first season is actually very involved. I do recommend people go back and watch the first season of the show if you just jump it on episode two. Okay, but Steve, run a spoiler warning. We're getting ready to talk about How's at the Dragon?
Starting point is 00:08:26 You're listening to a reaction podcast. The spoilers are coming. To begin, our reactions, we have to put you in the know. The only way to do that is the Midnight Manifest, the only person who can do that is Chuck Wagon. All right. This is your House of the Dragon,
Starting point is 00:08:47 Midnight Manifest, for the first episode of season two, a son for his son, directed by Alan Taylor, written by Ryan Condal. Jace goes to the Stark's in the north and pleads for the great house to send aid to his mother's banner.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Cregan agrees to send 2,000 grizzled old men, which is all he can offer since winter is coming. Reneer mourns the murder of Lacerus as her war counsel spins out. Damon demands that Reni splies the king's landing, them get revenge on Amen and Vagar. Meanwhile in Kings Landing, Agon is proven to be an ineffectual king,
Starting point is 00:09:17 as Allison, Otto, Amen, and Lairis are all jockey to have the most control over their new imbecile king. When Renera finally returns to Dragonstone, she commands that Amon be killed. Damon, taking this order to heart, returns to King's Landing with the help of some intel from the still alive whiteworm and pays the rat catcher and watchman,
Starting point is 00:09:34 aka Blood and Cheese, to sneak into the castle and kill the one-eyed prince. Blood and cheese naturally fuck up and kill Chihara and distra Helena runs to her mother Allison's room where she's getting her back blown out by Sir Cunna Wingis Cole and that has been
Starting point is 00:09:47 your Midnight Manifest Just remember Just remember stuff like that when you're talking about me What? She was getting her back blown out! That's fine! Everybody deserves to have some fun! Chuck, instant reactions.
Starting point is 00:10:02 All right, I know usually I don't say this coming out of a first episode but I'm locked in, bro. Yeah, we're back. It's, the feeling has been restored. I think the first season, House of the Dragon, was a little bit all over the place
Starting point is 00:10:22 because it's essentially two shows. They're introducing us to the smaller cast of Rainier and Allison when they were younger, and then there was a bunch of time skips. And this felt like the season where they did not have to hold back. They can tell the story that they want to tell. all adrenaline. We pick right up after the murder of
Starting point is 00:10:42 Renair's son. And I was just, I was locked in. Even though there was to your point, I forgot how long it had been, so I did need a refresher. But once that was done, I felt like just the pacing, the drama, the acting. I was even watching kind of the behind the scenes. And even the actors were very, very honest. It just felt like being back with family and getting back into it. And the show just feels bigger. I really love this episode. What about you? Loved it. I thought it was great.
Starting point is 00:11:13 It, like, House of the Dragon, I've said this before about the first season, the House of the Dragon. Obviously, you can't help but drift into comparison with the original Game of Thrones show. And it's unfortunate that I'm this way, but that's how I am. House of the Dragon manages to validate the storytelling in a very specific way.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Like a prequel always has to validate itself. It just doesn't matter. It has to. Yeah. Like the idea of a prequel is that the source material that you watched is so compelling that you want to know what happens before, which is counterintuitive to the way we interpret stories. Story is about what happens at the end. This show really seems to take its story in a standalone way very seriously to the way. point to where it validates the fact that it's on television.
Starting point is 00:12:14 It doesn't seem like a money grab. It doesn't seem like us being back into the world for the sake of being back into the world. It seems like big stakes, big happenings, and it gives you the same feeling of Game of Thrones on HBO, which I thought was going to be impossible when it first happened. And I did go back and read the book, so I understand how important this lore is. But I watched this and I'm like, Jesus Christ, this is great. We back, men, boys.
Starting point is 00:12:41 I mean, as soon as the credit start rolling, man, you hear that song again. You just start to feel it in your soul. You know what I mean? And then the episode again just gets going. And honestly, it's been too long since we had an HBO Sunday show. We could all come around and love and enjoy since, like, succession ended. Right. And so just be like, honestly, you just have that community again, felt great.
Starting point is 00:13:04 But to have an episode like this to start on. the way we did, how it ended. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my incredible. Yeah. Just awesome. Again, the return to appointment viewing is actually kind of odd because Game of Thrones and what it was at its peak and House of the Dragon to a lesser extent,
Starting point is 00:13:21 in the beginning season, like, really was that time. And it's odd to come back to it this many years later and still feel right at home. Like, again, like, it's jarring to come back to this world and all these characters and all these happenings to see exactly where we left off is right where we're starting back up from and not jumping back or forward in all of this time frame.
Starting point is 00:13:46 It's really, really great to be back. I love this first episode. Can I say this, though? These motherfuckers know what they're doing because when we started in the fucking north with the Starks, I was like, you motherfuckers. Nobody's mad about being in the North.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Everybody started to be in the North. It was impossible for me to be a hater. The Starks are right. Talking about duty. Bro, Kalika literally went. Aw. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Like, she literally went. Like, he liked the snow in the stark. Oh, look, it's okay. We're back in a room. And the little holy Craig, he, like, he knew what to do. I was like, dog, that's a stark. That's how they be acting. They're super honorable.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Hell yeah. They're super honorable. The whole thing, it felt real. And he's up there. And he's got the thing. He looks. And when he gets the Raven that his brother has been killed, he emotes.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Yeah. You know what I mean? If you're with somebody else, that message might be fucking tough. You know what I mean? If you're in the Dredfort and they're fucking eating, they're always stabbing stuff and eating it at the Dredfort. Right.
Starting point is 00:14:52 I mean, here's the, the bloodie is real tough. You know, it's. Yeah. Oh, in Dredford? The Boles. Here's the thing. I have always thought this.
Starting point is 00:15:01 I don't know if they're like marinating the meat back in those days. I don't even know if they got that fucking technology. You know what I'm saying? Do they understand acid? He, Jomey. They boil stuff, I'm sure. I'm sure they do.
Starting point is 00:15:13 I'm sure it's not, they don't know. They're springing like paprika and throwing parsley on everything. Right. But they got salt and pepper. When did the, when did marinating meat get invented?
Starting point is 00:15:21 Somebody Google right now. Oh, wow. I'm going to guess a very long time. Because there's a thing with marinating. Back in those days, you don't have a lot of salt. You don't have a lot of shit to waste. But see, that's another reason why salt was such a big thing to trade here.
Starting point is 00:15:33 in the new world because... You could dry it out. You could dry it out. Yeah. So the practice of marinating meat can be traced back to ancient preservation methods, such when people steep meat, fish, and fowling liquids and seasonings, sea water, oil, or acid.
Starting point is 00:15:48 First documented in 1645. See, I don't believe... Okay, cool. You know what? This nigger... So in 1645, this guy is making something for the very first time I shall marinate meat. They be making shit up.
Starting point is 00:16:00 I believe in history. they'd be making shit up they'd be like hey this this was the family structure in 75,000 BC motherfucker how you know I feel like the Starks were probably busy building a 700 foot wall of ice
Starting point is 00:16:16 to keep out death the way the Starx man that wall I was like listen I know you got that beef back there this is this is real life out of this wall He's just like hey I'd be proud of my fucking wall bro These dragons won't even fly over this bitch I'll be honest with you I fuck with the wall
Starting point is 00:16:33 I like the wall. I like the wall. I'm not riding at elevator. Hell no. That's wild. I'm not riding that elevator, bro. I'm not getting on that. I'm surprised how smooth it was.
Starting point is 00:16:43 They got to have a whole conversation and not just be like. The whole. Is somebody pulling that? That's got to be. Wait, so also my question, is this the first time Jace has ever experienced snow? Because he's like, he's like, what is this white flurry things coming from the heavens? He's like, he's like, what y'all call this? No, I thought this is winter, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:17:03 how Jomey felt when he first got to college. That's fair. So what is all this snow? That's fair. You can have that one. What's all these? What's this white stuff? I think I like it.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Slinging, what's all of this white stuff in San Diego? I think I like it. What did you say your name was? Brittany? Yo! Jomey felt, it's true. Okay, so we're starting off at a
Starting point is 00:17:33 very, very, very precarious time, are queen. And I got to be honest with you about something. Okay. If there is one weakness that the show has from, I would say, the book to the show. And tell me if I'm wrong, for anyone else who has read the books or has, like, read the book or had any even casual understanding of it. this show seems to be pretty heavily siding with the blacks to me. I mean, it's really, they're making it very tough to make this an even-sided argument.
Starting point is 00:18:10 It's odd because the marketing for this was like, there's the team green side and the team black side and like, pick your side. And like, do we really need to pick? Like there's no, like there's very little argument for the greens at all. I want to say there's little argument, but I think. Are you know the greens, bro? I'm not arguing. Hold on. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:18:31 I am team black through and through, okay? I mean, that's not what your roster has. We know that that's not true. I'm a fact that we're out. What I'm trying to say is in the first season, it's Renieras, right? It's her right. And the Greens take it away.
Starting point is 00:18:51 That's what makes them seem like the baddies. Both teams do underhanded stuff. But the initial, you know, break in the thing is, the Green's take away Renair's birthright I mean honestly though Team Green looks crazy Amon looks crazy
Starting point is 00:19:05 Like this is just Now it's kind of like a race of blunders Until we go out In the war If you got an eye patch motherfucker Like that's I'm just Me looking at the screen I'm like oh you to evil ones
Starting point is 00:19:16 You know what I'm saying Like Egan on his throne I'm like oh man You need some moisturizer You need a tan like he looks evil Let me tell you something about Egan the second He was kind of
Starting point is 00:19:27 He was kind of staying a little bit in the throne room. I'm not going to lie. He was trying. He was trying. No, yeah. I felt like he was a benevolent king. Yes. No, what?
Starting point is 00:19:36 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. High Tower is making him act like an asshole. Yeah. But he was like, oh, we took your sheep. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:44 We'll give you sheep back. We'll give you sheep back. You need money for money. We got you. I feel like he was being a benevolent king. And High Tower was the one that was coming over. My favorite part of that entire interaction is when he tells Otto to sit down for the second time. It's like, our work is reliant on the small.
Starting point is 00:19:58 folk. I mean, bitch. That was great. I love that. But on the small folk. Bitch. No, but here's the thing,
Starting point is 00:20:07 how could he be up a Nevelin king? Because it's like, like, he was trying, but this motherfucker did not know what was going on because he confused the animals. He's just like,
Starting point is 00:20:16 yeah. She's like, he's like, oh, they're going. I mean, he was trying. To me, he was trying.
Starting point is 00:20:21 The best kings are guys who don't want to be king. Because they just get up there and they just go, God damn, that seems fucked up. Should we do something about that?
Starting point is 00:20:30 Why are we not doing something about that? Everybody else is thinking about the realm and the crown and all of that. But if you don't really want to be up there, which he doesn't and never wanted to be it, it's like, he's a little psych to be up there. He's a little psych to be up there. He's drinking with his boys at night and he's sitting on the crown. Like, he's kind of stoked. He's got, if there was literally, if there was PlayStation 5,
Starting point is 00:20:52 he would literally be on the throne playing 2K with his knees. Like, he is the most reluctant king. He absolutely on TikTok just scrolling. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you need your feedback? Yeah, we got you, bro. Don't worry about that. But it's also fucked up because I'm just like, dog, they really do make these motherfuckers, like,
Starting point is 00:21:08 line up and beg. Because, like, that's how the politicians were. I just like, don't be nervous, bro. Calm down. Just a guy, bro. Still, man. Wait till you learn about lobbying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Well, we pay people to go back. That entire scene is funny because it's just auto being, like, he rolls his eyes. It's, I laughed. I thought that was funny. He was sick to his stomach. Sheet back. Let me get it.
Starting point is 00:21:32 You need that sheet, bro. We need that sheet. So this episode is brought to you by WeatherTech. Everyone knows winter is the MVP and making a mess. Starting point is 00:23:10 which is Amon's killing of Luke. And it seems that the show grounds itself in the response to that. There's grief, there's anger, the war is on, there is regret, there is trepidation, there is fear, there's all of this
Starting point is 00:23:33 stuff, and now we know we're at a point to where we can't return. I do think that the show tries to equalize the suffering felt by each side. Of course, at the end, which is a very important scene in fire and blood with blood and She's killing a kid, which was incredibly fucking difficult to watch in front of his mother, making the mom choose anybody that has any sort of feeling when you watch that scene. It is absolutely gut-wrenching. It's gut-wrenching. Still, though, still, it seems like this is a story sometimes more about how the black. lose, than it is a story between the greens and the blacks sometimes.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Am I wrong? I mean, it's, I do think that this, at least this first episode and what I'm going to predict is going to happen throughout this entire season is how does Reneira lose her way in terms of just like, Damon at this point is like, and honestly a bunch of people around Reneer, I'm like, motherfucker, this is war. You're looking for a fight all over. Yeah, he's just like, win. can I put on my murder cloak.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Yeah. I mean, here's the thing. We got to be real. Once Damon puts on that cloak, I know. He's up to no good. He's that Kermit meme? He's like,
Starting point is 00:24:59 he's like, I'm ready. It's Olympic mellow, man. It's, it's 2012 messy. It's different. He's like, I'm gonna put this thing on.
Starting point is 00:25:04 We're gonna finical crazy. But he's like, and here's like, Reneer is, Reneer's like, creven. She's just like, I gotta,
Starting point is 00:25:10 I gotta go see Luke. I got to go make sure. I'm just like, I don't know if I need to go fly out to see. the dead dragon wing. You gotta know. Also, we gotta really, we gotta talk quick. I made the house
Starting point is 00:25:21 of the dragon motherfuckers, the creators to stay off social media. You need to stop listening to these pods because they made sure in this first episode to see how Renera jumps down from a dragon. She looked like LeBron James just like scurrying off the wing. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:25:35 A dragon dismount is probably never going to look good. But she was just sliding down the wing. I'm like, what the fuck? I always thought that they should build like a little slide. Like on the back of the dragon, like a little slide where you could slide off that motherfucker. That would be dope. Slide?
Starting point is 00:25:53 There's scales. No. Did I say build? This is why I hate about your generation. Oh, right. Didn't I say build? Play the fucking old man. I didn't say play it.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Fucking play it. I didn't say slide down the scales of the dragon and rip your ass shreds. I said they should build a little slide. Yeah. And you could slide down the dragon. It would be cool. You get on the dragon. And then down on the back, there's a dragon slide.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Guess what? Anybody out there, engineers, architects that watch the show, we want to see you build your own dragon slides. Why couldn't we do a helicopter ladder situation? Okay, what's that? What's going on? Like, you know, in like all the fucking action movies. Oh, when they hook the thing on? They hook the little ladder on.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I like that too. With a little ladder that comes down. You always trying to stop it from, like, taking off and fucking the Joker got killed and Batman won. Remember what happened? You don't remember that? Yeah, yeah. You're trying to hold on to it. Batman killed him.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Right? Yes, killed him. By hooking his leg to the thing. Man, okay. I'm with that. But, like, just jumping off that motherfucker, I don't really, you know. You can't be, you can't be so graceful. If we're being honest, there's been, like, generations of inbreeding at this point.
Starting point is 00:27:06 So, Renera's, her ankles are probably fucked up. You know what I'm saying? Like, she's tearing, like, an ACL. Are you talking about the bone spurs and the generation of Targary? Yeah, no. out from later. If you think about it, guys, this is like generations of inbreeding. All of their bones are brittle
Starting point is 00:27:21 as fuck. Probably. Damn. Renaira Targaryen out six to eight weeks. She got a torn ACO. Derek Rose. It's tough. Ouch. Yeah, tough for you. All right. You know what I want to like... No, me.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Steve. Bulls fan. You know what I want to start doing? Maybe we'll have to do it for this episode, but this show is a show of fantastic standout scenes. Like House of the Dragon. Like, I think of singular scenes that are just amazing.
Starting point is 00:27:51 As I rewatch the first, the first season, the throne room scene, the scene where Amin kills Luke, all of that stuff, right? Scenes from this episode, we're not going to give our top three. I want us to start giving the top three scenes from every House of the Dragon episode because they have really great scenes in every single one, right? Like, super important ones. What were some of the best scenes that you can remember in this episode? I think one, and it's not that long, but it kind of shows you already how the black, like the, what?
Starting point is 00:28:25 Jesus. It's not that long, but it kind of shows you already. I'm just saying power through power through power. Damon and Reneas, dog, Renice ain't having none of fucking Damon shit. He's just like, all right, get back on that fucking drag. He didn't even ask nicely. It's like, get the fuck back on that dragon. We're going to Kingslanding.
Starting point is 00:28:42 We handle him business. And she turns around like, motherfucker, you ain't king? I'm not listening to you. And it's just so funny how I'm like, Damon's my boy. But dog, he really run around like he's in charge and shit. I'm like, dog. He was waiting for Renair to be gone.
Starting point is 00:28:56 He's like, bro, we just handled him this. And he brought up a good point from last season. Renice was like chirping, chirping. I'm like, motherfucking, you could have ended all this shit. You could have killed all these people. It's still the wildest decision from season one. Let me tell you something. Of everything that's ever happened on the show,
Starting point is 00:29:14 this is the biggest problem I have. I'll tell you why. I hate what I call the Star Lord fallacy. The Star Lord fallacy. I hate it. I hate any fucking movie show or anything where someone could have ended the fucking thing. Right then and there.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Right then and there. And for whatever reason it doesn't happen. Or without a very good one, it does not happen. Fuck the reason. Fuck it. Okay. If they could have done it and they didn't do it. I'm not talking about if somebody else intervenes because this is what happened on those two cases.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Yeah. And one, he became a stupid idiot asshole and he punched Thanos. And then the other one, she just decided not to burn the motherfuckers up and end the shit right there. After murdering hundreds of thousands. I will never look at the character the same. Never. Never look at Star Lord the same. Never look at nobody the same.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Do you think that's why Damon has like a little bit of like spice? He's like, you're dumb motherfucker. That's absolutely. Right. Yeah, like her son could be alive and he's dead. So why don't you get on your fucking dragon and like get and go down there and let's handle business because it's really your fault. I would have fought her. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:30:35 You were scored up like you. You got to give me my fate. I'm sorry, bro. You got to give me my faith. We got to have a dragon fade in the sky. No, you come back, I'm telling y'all, you come back, yeah, I had them lined up. What? Why ain't you?
Starting point is 00:30:55 Uh-uh, we got to give me my fade, bro. But that was a great scene. It was. What else we got? There are so many things. I want to talk about Emma Darcy for a minute. Anything that Reneer is in for this episode, it's very small. They do not say many lines.
Starting point is 00:31:14 in this episode. And the presence that they command with a look, with tears in their eyes, crying, it's incredible every time. I think the scene for me, another amateur arts scene, I don't know how many lines she has in this episode. Not many at all.
Starting point is 00:31:31 But the one where they're coming into the throne room and everybody's like, oh, we got this plan, I'm going to go, I'm going to write a heron haul. Yeah, we got the gullet all sealed up and she just turns around and is like, I want Aymn Targaryen.
Starting point is 00:31:46 And it's a very, like, amazing, like, long tracking shot. And, like, it pushes through the table and all those things. It's an amazing, amazing. So my question, though. It sets the stage. Issues, like, I want Aiman. And I'm like, all right, I understand that. But this motherfucker got Vagar, so it just seems, like, sneaking up on him might not be.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Like, because here's the thing, too. I love Damon. Like, I do. But every single time he puts on that cloak, he makes the dumbest fucking decision. And I'm like, bro, Why are you always empowering the dumbest motherfuckers in the crew to do the most important jobs? Because they're ready to fight. I want to say that like the dumbest is, he get locked in and then, you know, things go sideways.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I wouldn't say like he's the one. He basically, because they cut to it. Like they cut before he says it. He's like, all right, y'all get aiming. But if you can't get aiming, like, you got to leave with something. No, that's, again, there's this clever thing. I'm glad you brought that up. But like, they cut away before.
Starting point is 00:32:39 No, I'm saying. You know, Damon's like, I'm, you know. James like, y'all got, I'm paying y'all gold. Like, motherfuckers, you got to leave with the head. I don't care. Like, I don't care. But here's the thing, and you mentioned this just a second earlier, the vagar gas is crazy. Everybody's like, ah, man, we can't do nothing because Vagar are out there.
Starting point is 00:32:56 We haven't seen Vagar do that, do it like that. Y'all got dragons too. Y'all don't believe in y'all dragons. But here's the thing, even Otto. Carraxie, Syrax? What happened to the game? What happened to the feeling? No, Otto's letting, Otto's letting fucking aim and run wild.
Starting point is 00:33:08 He's just like, he's like, you do got Vagar. What we really going to do, son? What's up with Vagar? This is... They gotta jump, Beghar. If I got the dragons, I'm just jumping.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Right? Jace, everybody, let's go. We can't find us all that once us all run up on it. Like, it's nuts. You know, my favorite scene was, my favorite scene was when he comes in to tell his mother
Starting point is 00:33:31 that he got the troops from... That was so amazing. He's still holding in those tears. Not from much, from Winterfeld. He's like... Those are the things to me that matter about. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, because he's trying to keep it together.
Starting point is 00:33:44 He's trying to be, like, the leader. He's like, we got 2,000. And he's crying. I'm like, like, the things that always get me about this show is like, it's essentially a show about one gigantic dysfunctional family and about everybody's dueling motivations between duty and revenge and just like the people that they love. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Duty, revenge, and that's your motherfucking uncle. That's your cousin. That's your brother. That's your husband. Like, that's what it is. And when he comes in, he's trying to be a prince and she allows him to be a son. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:22 And a brother. And I'm like, I've ran it back two or three times so well played. When I say she, I mean the character. Yeah. But he comes in there. I did my duty. And he just can't get through it. His brother's dead.
Starting point is 00:34:36 Yeah. And so like that to me are like this state, for as much as this, show, because Game of Thrones is literally about, and Game of Thrones has this same threat. I don't want to take that away from it. But Game of Thrones is literally about who's going to rule, and this is about who's going to rule.
Starting point is 00:34:51 But I guess it's the same because Game of Thrones evolves into the trauma that people have experienced. No, but this show is more closely a family where it's like Game of Thrones is like all these families are competing, where it's just like the emotional threat of this is like, these people grew up together. These are uncles, aunts, cousins, sisters, and brothers. And you can even tell, I think with Allison and Renira, the whole thing about this war is I am killing people that I love more than anything in the world because they hurt me more than anyone in the world.
Starting point is 00:35:22 But I think, honestly, one of the most powerful scenes, I think, you know, this show does a great job of really putting actors and characters in roles to succeed. And Sir Chris and Cole was getting after it. I was really proud of him. You know what I'm saying? What are you talking about? What? What's wrong? Hey, the motherfucker used to be a night.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Now he's a fuck toy. That's fine. He's getting passed around by the crew. Like, it's cool. Like, he knows how to play his role too. Because she's like, she's like, this is the last time. And he's like, all right. No disrespect.
Starting point is 00:35:58 No disrespect. But he is the Pete Davidson of Westrose. Pete Davidson? Respect Pete Davidson. Respect Pete Davidson. Well, let me tell you something. No, I don't do that. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 00:36:07 I like this. Yeah. Like, he's like Pete Davidson because he's a breakup rebound dick. He is the one that keeps you, that gets you back to your hotness. He stewards you along with the dick and then let you go. So I more so thought that Chris and Cole was Westrose's future. Because, you know, he's all up in the box. He's having a real fun time.
Starting point is 00:36:27 He's like, we're going crazy. And then he's with aiming and he's just like, Renira. And I was like, dog, you, why are you still on Reniro, bro? But you know, that's a good argument, but the only reason why I wouldn't say that he's future is because strong is future. Strong as future, strong. Be with you, have three kids with you,
Starting point is 00:36:50 and then let the other motherfucker raise. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you know what I'm saying? Strong as strong as future. Like playing the background. But by the way, like, we're going to get to the actual best scene of the show. but
Starting point is 00:37:05 does the queen know do people know that Cole and Allison are are in a relationship do they know because I think
Starting point is 00:37:16 I well I think some people do like Laris he knows he knows but he knows everything that's his whole point
Starting point is 00:37:23 and I know but I think also Otto knows because when they walk into the small council he's like he's like
Starting point is 00:37:30 you horny motherfuck he can probably smell you know everything Why? Just listen, this one, you're probably right?
Starting point is 00:37:39 But look, but look, just stop. No, no, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, stop picking on me when I say that. I swear to God, like, stop picking on me when I say stuff. Did you hear that? Yes. It smelled the dick and pussy. Can I explain? Can I explain?
Starting point is 00:38:00 Can I expound? Can I expound? No, you can. I'm not disagreeing with you. Just know that that was a vanism. That was. Yeah. I'll put it in a way.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So they not really drinking water back then. It's like meat and shit. All right. So already, and they only take them baths like, you know, once a week. Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:19 So it's funky. You know what I'm saying? Got to be. So if you're in the royal family, you're probably pretty well kept up. They literally was just like going after it. They didn't even like wipe off, like put some perfume.
Starting point is 00:38:31 They just walked into the room. He didn't, he didn't bring her, she didn't bring him a hand. Is that what you're saying? The warm hand towel? Y'all know what? Y'all know the warm hand towel vibes.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Everybody in this room knows the warm hand towel vibes. Whatever, man. Here's the thing. Van, I'm on your side. Mint boys. Like, what's going on? Don't bring me in this.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Because there's a thing that do not, should women not feel pleasure? So, Kristen Cole. That's not, no. Here's what I'm trying to make a success. What can't Allison, why can't Allison get some? That's not the problem. Alice can do whatever she wants.
Starting point is 00:39:04 mind so you don't get a women's business. Exactly. The problem is Kristen Cole. That's the worst dude in Westrose by and Miles. Maybe he's like an amazing box eater. Maybe. Maybe. Obviously. Maybe. So who cares? But that doesn't mean
Starting point is 00:39:20 he's not a loser. That doesn't mean not a lame. That doesn't mean... You like him? Yeah, man. What? No. No. No. The user man late there and not that's your music. That's absolutely your worst take. Let me tell you why.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Like, he does little things to me. You know he's in there. He's talking to Aeman and somebody walks into the room. Did you see what he did when the guy walks to the room? Oh, yeah. I do like when he's like... Just grabs his sword. Just in case somebody wants...
Starting point is 00:39:45 Just in case the hand of the game or something? No, he doesn't know who it is. Is it who it is? It's a good thing. He's walking in the room. He might want some motherfucking smoke with CC. He's a lame, but I will say... But I like him.
Starting point is 00:39:59 But also, you be on 4chan? That's what you be on? He does keep a player, though. Because when, like, Allison really was just like, yo, this can't happen anymore. And then when the daughter runs into the room, I'm like, oh, this motherfucker was a, he's like, I'm going to be in here tonight, like, relax.
Starting point is 00:40:16 That was, man, I really do hate that, dude, man. He sucks. The only reason he's on Team Green anyways, because Al or his Renier was like, actually, I don't want to go sell oranges and cinnamon with you. Yeah. That's crazy. I'm a queen.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Why would I do that? That's insane. He was like, all right, bit. I'm going to be a hater for life. Like, that's lame stuff. that's your boy though like yeah it's whatever
Starting point is 00:40:37 he was he was hurt he was oh right god oh my god yeah remember we talked about the guys that got
Starting point is 00:40:47 broken up with when they were at 14 years old and they never got over it christen cole's a grown-ass man and not over that shit no yeah that was 17 years ago Christian Cole he can't get over it bro he never gave us heart to another one
Starting point is 00:40:59 my bha'all all right I mean it is crazy because then he's just like damn you married your uncle. You know what I mean? Like that's, that's wild. Okay. So, on next episode, I'm going to establish a black characters watch here.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Okay. Because we got a lot of black characters on the show. They did absolutely nothing in this episode. There was a small, like, hey, thanks for pulling me out of the scene. Oh, I like it? They let two niggas have a conversation over some coffee or something like that. I appreciate you. We're having a drink.
Starting point is 00:41:38 We're some coffee. And they were like, the writers were like, all right, that bus is. Nah, it was crazy. You brought me from the sea. What's the name of the ship, dude? Alan. Alan, yeah. He's at one way he does a thing.
Starting point is 00:41:56 He's like, yo, thanks for saving my wife. And he's like, yeah, my name. I got to get back to work. That's got to get me. That'll be crazy if you walked up to him. Like, hey, bro, what's up, man? What's you? What's up, G?
Starting point is 00:42:09 appreciate that shit but I looked at it I was like I saw the scene I thought they would you know come back and the little girls
Starting point is 00:42:17 with the blonde hair I was like ah so these niggas ain't in it no more like he's indebted to him
Starting point is 00:42:23 it'll probably come back later but we'll say oh they had they time like you know what I'm saying the prince ran off on the plug
Starting point is 00:42:29 daddy upset all right cool so but we obviously when we're talking about scenes just an absolute
Starting point is 00:42:38 gut-wrenching scene gut-wrenching scene. We got to talk about blood and cheese. All right, first of all, is fuck cheese for life? When he kicked that dog, I was like, I was about to say,
Starting point is 00:42:47 I got from you, I want to know from you, Van. You are the animal rights activist on this podcast. Yeah. You have a, you think dogs should be able to vote. Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:59 Right? What hurt more for you, right? Jeharis getting his head sought off. Or cheese or blood, cheese, kicking the dog or blood kicking the dog.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Well, I might have to go with the fucking baby, but... Oh, really? It's close. It was a dog. It's close? It was a dog. Because he, like, he punts that motherfucker. Charles, Charles, Charles. Charles. I want you to refrain from having conversations about white babies on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:43:27 You're qualified. That's... Okay. Okay. You don't want to rely on the precedent. We don't want to bring it to... Okay. To be fair
Starting point is 00:43:41 No No The baby had bad guys The baby had bad by They introduced the baby In the beginning And he's literally Fucking up the whole meeting
Starting point is 00:43:51 And I was like This baby's out of here bro You can't You think This baby is out of here You think the Lannister brother The next meeting he was like Hey he got your hair
Starting point is 00:44:04 She was like No the Lannister He was like Yeah Oh no, you're bad No! You see the thing? It was just like the fucking
Starting point is 00:44:13 homelander A train and fucking deep scene where fucking A-Gon is like Hey, yo, I think you should you know play piggyback. That motherfucker gets up Just like... He's about to do it.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Here's the thing the baby had bad bot. Here's the thing. I didn't want the baby to die. I did not want the white baby to die. I was just saying I felt more when the dogs came. When the dog got kicked, when the dog got kicked,
Starting point is 00:44:37 when the dog got kicked, Glee went. He looked it right at you. Because I'm like, cut his fucking head off. I hated it. I have to say, I go with the baby. Oh, no, the baby. If I'm being real, it is the baby because, like, at first I was like, oh, they're just going to kidnap the kid. And then they cut away and there's like this sound.
Starting point is 00:44:59 And I was like, they ain't cutting this baby. The sound was crazy. I'd hate to be the folie artist out. the scene as, because obviously that's a scene that's meant to incite you and meant to somewhat even. Well, okay, when I say somewhat even, I mean this. Okay, so watching Luke die the way that he did or reading about it or however you found out about it in terms of whichever medium he first hit you in. You know that that's just a bridge too far and younger, softer, kid dying at the hands of aiming
Starting point is 00:45:40 this terrible right this and then they build on that with some story and you see the aftermath you see the grief you see the pain you see all of that
Starting point is 00:45:51 this is seeking to be an equalizer it's seeking to come back and go both sides are capable of absolutely terrible things to the most innocent among them and the stakes of this war it's not just power it's not just
Starting point is 00:46:08 influence, it's not just your legacy or your dynasty or your dynasty or whatever. It's the people that you wish to protect the most in the world. That's the stakes of this war. This seeks to equalize it.
Starting point is 00:46:24 How she watched it, her character in the first place being someone that's a little bit more vacant and how she's processing this thing, which is so emotionally traumatic, it seeks to equalize it, did it? This is, I'll say this.
Starting point is 00:46:44 I think that the idea of equalizing a response of violence with violence in any respect, I don't really find great. But the idea that blood and cheese was done with pretty much the utmost of intent, Damon sent those people out to kill someone in response to this. the way that fire and blood is documented in the books is a historical retelling of events that led to this war that more or less ended all wars in Westeros. So the death that's on Amon's hands
Starting point is 00:47:17 but the death of Luke is portrayed seemingly on accident that he lost control of Vagar and it ate him. In the text and in the books and in even the show itself, everyone believes that he meant to do that. everybody believes that he meant to kill that and get some shit popped off it's odd to know that like the response of like intended violence
Starting point is 00:47:42 and intended consequence and intended recompense now just gets conflated every single time and snowballs into these terrible things that now will be committed for the rest of the show but also but also fuck all that accidents like you Ryan Nick he was because even when when he went when Luke goes to him he's just like yo I want
Starting point is 00:48:02 want, I want an eye. Like, do, so it, does he say want to kill him? I mean, at that way, bro. So, so, it's portrayed, like, you know, kind of the same way. I personally believe that the way I, the way I've always interpreted it is that his dragon acted upon the wishes that he knew his master rider had. And that's, and that's, that can be interpreted that way, I think for sure. I mean, dragons are intuitive. In this episode we see when, um, excuse.
Starting point is 00:48:32 me when Nornayr is mourning, like, seeing the, like, the remains of Luke's dragon, Syrax also is, like, starts screaming, right? Like, so the dragons definitely, like, have that emotional tuning. Maybe that's, that's the point. Do we, do we think that, because I think something that this episode does, very interestingly, is how far is Damon willing to go? So, do we think that Damon did go there? And, like, because, like, you said earlier,
Starting point is 00:49:02 we don't see him say essentially, if you can't get Aiman, find someone. Do we think that Damon kind of knew that this was a possibility? And also my question is, is Damon going to be the, like, the thing that fucks up the blacks?
Starting point is 00:49:23 Where it's just like every single time Damon makes a decision, I'm like, you are going full 100, zero to 100. Like, he does not have any, like, middle kind of stakes. He's just like, oh, no, we're getting this back in blood immediately. There's a difference between a war and a general. Warriors great at war.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Generals great at planning war. Excuse me. That's not what my dad used to say. Warriors are good at fighting. Generals are good at war. That's a Van Terry Lathen seniorism. I'm sure he heard somebody saying on a Western somewhere. Happy Father's Day to my dad.
Starting point is 00:50:00 But it, it, and, the thing is, which one is he? Is he good at fighting or is he good at war? He's good at fighting. I mean, it's the same, but both have it on each side because the Greens, you already see Otto. Otto's losing power. He's like, as Otto's a jackass, but you can tell he's what?
Starting point is 00:50:21 He's been the hand to three kings at this point? Yeah, you don't say the hand without being some little smart. But then you have Aiman in the backer being like, no, fuck all of this shit, bro. Let's go. And on the black side, you will. have, I would say the auto kind of point, it's probably Renice. At this point, she's like,
Starting point is 00:50:38 hey, I trust Renera. And then you have, you have fucking Damon who's just like, bro, get on the fucking dragons. It's like, let's handball these. And it's so funny where I'm just like, oh, both of these sides are going to fuck up. Because it's like,
Starting point is 00:50:53 no one's really listening to the smartest person in the room. The reality is we keep coming back to this. The war that they're fighting is emotional. Yeah. Now, typically, you know, these terrible wars that we talk about in real life, they're normally about influence, resources, things like that, geopolitical interests or whatever, domination. This one is largely about feelings.
Starting point is 00:51:20 It's largely an emotional war. It's largely people that feel like they're entitled to something because their father said it so. Yeah. Or they've been denied from having something. because of the way that they were born into the world. Then when you put that on top of my kids were fighting with your kids, this is what your kids,
Starting point is 00:51:40 if you want to see two people go at it, go to a Chucky Cheese in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Oh, wow. And see two kids getting to it in the fucking arcade and then come back and get the parents involved. I've seen this before. Man, one time, sorry about the stories, guys. But one time, maybe this is like, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:52:02 20, 2004, 2003, what we would do is this. We would love to have these kids' parties at Chucky Cheese, right? Because as a group of grown men, it would give us the opportunity to play ski ball. Hey, ski ball's great. Okay? I'm with you. Kids over there eat the pizza. Skiball in the corner.
Starting point is 00:52:25 Me and my whole crew, plus Mike McLaughlin, Gino's brother. We go over there and we play some ski ball. By the time you know it, we hours and hours deep at ski ball, the place is about to fucking close. Everybody's looking around like, well, y'all leaving? Like, no, we're on that ski ball because that's what we do. Ball it up, ski style, okay? One time we're there and one of our little homies, because we're in a gang now, right? God do it with one of the other little homies from a different section over one of the video games.
Starting point is 00:53:01 came over there looking at us like, oh my, we just had a little issue up with video games. I'm like, what? Who? Him? I'm like, yeah, we're like, hey, let him play the video game, man. What's popping?
Starting point is 00:53:11 Like, let him play the video game. Oh, right. And then, and then you hear from the other side, hey, if he can't get off the video game itself, why are you getting involved? And then you're talking to me? Oh, man. And your kid is trying to dominate the video games.
Starting point is 00:53:28 He ain't got no home train. Uh-uh, what you mean? He ain't got no home training. All you hear is everybody off the ski ball. Now, the greens and the blacks. You can't. Actually, all this year were, actually, it was the blacks and the blacks. And it's up because when the kids are getting fucked over.
Starting point is 00:53:46 You can't say the home training shit because that's already motherfuckers about to throw hands. Hey, it wasn't my little nephew who was trying to kick people off of the fucking game. It was these motherfuckers from the other side of town. It was these motherfuckers. One side of town. Whatever. It was from the north side. It was the dude of the person that was trying to kick kids off the game.
Starting point is 00:54:08 And we ain't having that. It was almost the greens of the, you know what? You know what stopped everything right there? Fresh pizza came out. Ah, there you go. Oh, wait, do you think this guy down bad? I do think in the back, they got the, oh. The niggas got the fly.
Starting point is 00:54:23 Get the pizza. Get the pizza. Hey, hey, they got it again. Bostle pepperoni out. Get some pepperoni out. The animatronic, Chuckie, just starts fucking... So you're saying that all we need is some anti-beef pizza in Westeros.
Starting point is 00:54:40 They might only need some pizza. I don't know what they eat. I think pizza would blow their minds in Westeros. That would be crazy. It fucking killed them. Yeah. The Victorian mind can't comprehend this. Pepperoni might cook them.
Starting point is 00:54:49 So, you know, having said that, like, with Damon or anybody else, a lot of these people are just reacting off of emotion. That's why, to bring it back to what we were talking about, raising the emotional stakes by, you know, killing a male heir, killing a child, killing the innocent, like praying on somebody. Somebody I would see, it's part and parcel for what the show does, but now, you know, we know that there's no things cannot be brought back.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Yeah, that's the thing. And now everybody has the same stakes. Yeah. You killed my son. I kill one of your kids. Now, like, we're all going to even play for. Let's get it. I mean, the interesting thing, too, is also you can tell this is a family dispute.
Starting point is 00:55:30 because the rest of the realm ain't rushing to pick sides. They're like, oh, man, maybe y'all work this out. The key players are cited. They're blockades. They're like ways that like people are. Even Cregan was like, that blockade, though, is coming from inside of the, the blockade is coming from the fucking other people. They're with them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Yeah, that's what I mean. Like people have chosen sides is what I mean. Even Cregan was like. The other houses. We're sending you to the old people. Not, Cregan was like, he's like, you the homies. At least y'all didn't. pull up with the dragon, so I gotta respect it.
Starting point is 00:56:02 I respect my oath. But like even like, even the greens are still plotting. And again's like, bro, send the fucking dragons and tell these motherfuckers to shut up. But that's another like, speaking of choosing sides, like, Damon was like chewing out that, uh, that guard, like telling like your treacherous twin didn't kill so-and-so when he had the chances. Like, we're supposed to be protecting the royal family. That's not what we do. And he's, we're supposed to protect the royal family. and all of you guys are technically the royal family.
Starting point is 00:56:33 And this is just rich people fighting. Oh, so we got to remember. Like, I hate when they do that to, like, people that aren't a part of the royal family. I'm like, we already know what happens with you a Kingslayer. Yeah. Monefuckers and Westroats, never forget. I'm not the type of person who about to kill a king
Starting point is 00:56:46 because I'm like, my son, my son's son, y'all going to bring it up anytime they enter them. And that's when you were a Lannister. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So if I was Jamie, I'd have been like, hey, stop saying that about me. That doesn't do with me.
Starting point is 00:56:58 If I was Jamie, I'd be like, Hey, that's in the past. Every time I come here, y'all playing, your niggas always playing. Stop saying it about me. My daddy got a lot of money. Leave me alone. My daddy got a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:57:13 Leave me alone. I mean, I didn't feel sorry for Jamie after a while. Yeah. Kingslinger, Kingsling. Stop playing with me, man. Honestly, this might be because it just, you know, I have a rotting brain. But like, Agon with the kid,
Starting point is 00:57:28 I was just like, why does this remind me of Drake and Adidas? I'm like, why's Damocchio? Wait a minute now. Wait a minute now. The kids all up in the video. He's like running into the small council. Everybody's just like, hey, bro, get this little nigga out of the video.
Starting point is 00:57:45 He's like, no, he stays. He gets a piggyback ride. But even that scene right there, it's a key scene. Do you know why? That tells you the reverence that he has for his son. Like he loves his son He thinks his son is cute And beautiful to the point
Starting point is 00:58:02 He could not give a shit about his daughter But also his dad Like we remember his dad was not fucking with him In the first season He's like you an idiot Did it a he was not ready to be king So I do think that was the writers Doing two things
Starting point is 00:58:15 A they were like we about to kill this kid So we got to kind of introduce him real fast But also for Agon it's like Damn I wish I had a dad who believed in me Who wanted to show me all Bring me to the small couch And at the same time You know that when this boy is killed, that he will now be a different type of king.
Starting point is 00:58:30 Absolutely. This will, a schism that he hasn't been particularly emotionally or energetically invested in. Yes. You can expect that now that it's visited him in a very direct way. Yes. That he will be. And the full force of the crown is now behind this war between the Greens. I mean, he's in a lock in with, Amit.
Starting point is 00:58:53 He's in a lock in with the road. things that the show does very, very well is when blood and cheese are walking past him, sneaking past him, he's chilling on the fucking Iron Throne, not taking it seriously. He's with his homies being like, yo, we got to come up with the
Starting point is 00:59:09 fucking hotter name than the magnate. And it's like, oh, dragon cock. You are like seeing the before and after of just like, oh, he's never going to be that king again. He's never going to be able to just talk about like, what should my name be? It's like, oh, after this night because if any of them were paying attention,
Starting point is 00:59:26 this shit's not going down with them. Right. They would have seen somebody legitimately walking through their house to kill his son. Because they both looking, they're just like, are we about to get caught? He's like, keep walking. He's like, what's the fucking Madagascar?
Starting point is 00:59:39 It's why. Just wave and just wave and look at it. Now, last thing I'll say before we leave, unless anybody else has anything that they want to have. We got to get to the MVP of the episode and we've got to get to a midnight meter. Let's say something here. this show is fucking gnarly, man.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Oh, yeah. Grizzly. This show, I mean, when I say, this show is gnarly because there's so much stuff, I'll just be honest with you. Involving young ones, kids, like little people. For the most part, I mean, there was some death of young people in Game of Thrones.
Starting point is 01:00:14 For the most part, the old people are getting splacked up. Like, I, for as impactful as, the scene was at the end and it was a great scene, it was insanely hard to watch. I don't know if it's because I was looking at that picture on Father's Day or whatever, but it was like hard to watch her go through that. Like it was this, like I'm watching the show and I'm like afterwards there's silence.
Starting point is 01:00:40 I'm like, God damn, this is a gnarly fucking show. So I want to ask you about this. So I saw, you know, scrolling through Twitter, a bunch of like Game of Thrones fans are like really mad. I'm like, that's not how blood and cheese happens in the book. she has to choose between... They make them choose. Make them choose between a son that...
Starting point is 01:00:56 A younger son that's not in the show. And I'm like, guys, you wanted that seem to be more grisly? I actually was just like... I felt like, hey, they went right up to the line. And even then I was just like, ugh. I can't imagine if they had to throw in the like, oh, not only does she choose it between two sons,
Starting point is 01:01:15 but she's basically like, damn, the young one, you got to get out of here because you ain't never going to be king. It's not going to be king, yeah. You know? I think it was actually more clever the way they did it. That's not to take anything away from George. But I think it was, for television, this version of it worked better.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Yeah. And it makes us sound like psychos when they're like, oh, well, this is clearly the better way to do that. No, I mean, just in terms of even a dramatic way for the dramatic states of it. We get it. She tried to play them all. kind of what Amman were doing that situation. Take my necklace.
Starting point is 01:01:56 And when he looks at her and he goes, no, she's telling the truth. Yeah. She saw it. Like, just as impactful for sure. I want to talk about Helena real quick because there's a scene at the beginning when Agon comes in and he's looking for Gerardis. He's like, I want to take him to a small council.
Starting point is 01:02:15 And she's like, oh, I'm worried about rats. And he plays her off like, she was crazy. It's like, look at the queen. Who knows what she says, right? Yes. And in that moment, I thought, like, I thought it was, oh, you know, everybody's worried about dragons in the sky, but she's worried about rats. I thought that was, like, symbolism for, like, you know.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Like, she's worried about the presence here and now. I thought she was talking about snitchy. She's like, we got a snitch in our midst. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Well, also true. She's just talking about, like, the folks around. It's not the dragons that are going to decide this war. It's me and you.
Starting point is 01:02:47 It's a small folk. Yeah, exactly. That's such an astute point. But she literally means, like, the rats. Who comes and kills her son? The people supposed to be catching the rats. Yeah, so she was worried about it. She was pressing in that way.
Starting point is 01:02:58 How much does Helena do me? Hold on real quick. I want to say something. I think there are a lot of people out there, Jomey. When you were about to go on that, that we're expecting a glitch out. I wasn't going to say Opus Mona Randy. Opus Mona Randy.
Starting point is 01:03:15 People are like, what's going on? They were expected that was a fucking fantastic point. That was great. John of best. Jomey explain her, I have to ask you this. Where are we at with Helena's powers? Because obviously she can, she can like forecast and stuff, but it doesn't seem like she's seeing the future.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Like she sees maybe premonitions, but it's like she knows that to worry about the rats, but it doesn't seem like she knows about blood and cheese or any of that. No, I mean, like, there's, and this is something that Vassaris, like, talked about. Like, they're dreamers. And then people who can, like, see, you know, you can see stuff.
Starting point is 01:03:49 You don't know exactly what it's going to be, but you can like, since your future, she kind of has that, she has that. They don't, nobody recognizes it yet, but she can,
Starting point is 01:03:56 you know, see things that are about to happen again. And this is obviously, be tapping into that. She basically sees the future, the way Jedi sees the future, which is not really at all. It's impossible to tell.
Starting point is 01:04:11 That's the worst power to add because I'm like, if I can see the future and it does not help me in the fucking slightest, I'm going to be more pissed. Right. Because then I don't remember.
Starting point is 01:04:19 I'm like, Remember when I was mumbling about them rats? We should have done something about it. Because I was, when I saw that in the beginning of the episode, I was just like, if she started talking about rats, I'm just like, motherfucker, we are locking this door. No one's getting fucking in. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:04:35 Also, where we're, there's no guards. Like, we're not stationing guards in front of like the fucking prince? It's real lax over there. Yeah, really lax fucking security. You think Kristen call, you know, when he was given Allison the hot D? Hey, hey, there you go. Maybe he was supposed to do. Hey, if he catches all the blame for this, I'd love that.
Starting point is 01:04:54 I need that. I love that. I need his pack. He's doing with his name. All right. MVP of this episode. I'll go first. Go.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Blood and cheese. What? I mean, technically, I think that is the right answer. I just don't want to, I mean, here's a thing. We will remember them for the entire one of us. Sure. Yeah. These motherfuckers are on scene for like what a toilet problem.
Starting point is 01:05:21 like 20 minutes and immediately like they kicked the dog hated them you know what I'm saying worse like just villainy it's really hard to be the most ain't shit motherfucker on this show and to do it in 20 minutes I think under that runner up I have to
Starting point is 01:05:38 Jase was really like he did not have a lot of time but he was a great leader like he was really like he wasn't putting it on too much when he was with the Starks he wasn't begging but he was really like hey man come He got that done. Then when he visits his mom, it's like, I felt back because I'm like, oh, dog, Chase and Renier are the only two people with a soul left and Renier's out of here.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Renier's about to go nuts. It makes sense that he was so good because he clearly went through puberty on the Dragon Ride Over. Wait, hey, sometimes it happens. Is this the same, is this the same fucking actor? Yes, it's the same guy. Yeah. I was about, I was like, who is he?
Starting point is 01:06:18 I was like, I don't remember him. Hey, you grew three feet. Two years. How was Western? Remember when Brian was a kid and then the next day you were wondering if you could get quality minutes for the Knicks? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:30 Like you could put him in the wheelchair. MVP of the episode, Steve. It kind of, Reneera, I think Emma Darcy's performance is incredible this episode and we're only going to get more. I'm with Jace. Chase went to the north, did his thing, you know, stood up in front of his mom
Starting point is 01:06:47 despite the fact he was hurting inside, did his thing. And then, you know, being at the, when they were doing the funeral prior, you know, with the little brother. He held a bad. Jay's got some Rob Stark energy, though. A little bit. Oh, man. We'll see.
Starting point is 01:07:00 We got a little bit of them like, I'm like, you too. Don't love that. Don't love that. You too good for this world. You a little bit too, like, pretty boy. Like, oh, I got a heart of gold shit. I'm like. You always got to keep an eye on them.
Starting point is 01:07:12 You always got to keep the eye on the Rob Stark motherfuckies. Charles, what we got next? All right. So, guys, you know how we do a midnight meter at the end of every season of television. or movie. But sometimes we do a mini-meter. Just get temperature check. Minim meter. One to 12, 11-12 game changers. One to 10, classic ranking. Let's just do the first episode. How are we feeling? Van. Mini-minette meter. I'm going to go nine. I'm going nine as well. This, this, here's a thing. I still think that this was probably a
Starting point is 01:07:44 slower episode in terms of like just getting us back into this world, acquainted with where everyone is. But if, If we're in terms of just excitement for the season, I was locked in. You know I hate everything. And I was still like after this, I was just like, damn, motherfuckers did it. Yep. I'm going nine. I'm going 10.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Okay. Oh, hey. We're in like an era, man. We got some, The Boys, House of the Dragon. You guys are shows that, like, leaving me, like, I can't wait to see the next episode. And when rest of peace, Jeharis got got and Helena's running to the room, I'm like, yo, please, next week. Come on.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Sunday. Let's get it. But to be fair. If we just ranking kind of like first episodes out of the gate, House of the Dragon, Acolyte, The Boys, House of the Dragon, The Black. I mean, all right. Yeah. Different levels. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:34 The Boys is a great show. Boys is a great. Like, here's the thing. Because I'm like, if we were comparing the last season of the boys to the first season of House of the Dragon, I think the boys would take it. Probably a little bit better, yeah. It's possible. But I really enjoy the first season. A lot of game left for both, though.
Starting point is 01:08:49 first season of House of the I love the second half of the first season interesting What you got? Nine for me It's great to be back I'm genuinely excited to watch TV On Sundays now
Starting point is 01:09:02 This is great We're back We're back We're back That's wrap Every Tuesday and Thursday The House of R will deep dive into
Starting point is 01:09:10 House of the Dragon And the Acolyte respectively Every Monday and Thursday The Midnight Boys Will give you their reactions To Hot D And Thursday for the boys And the acolyte
Starting point is 01:09:23 Our producer Steve, the architect Almond. Jonathan, Mr. Chocolate It's like you're waiting for that pause. It's the pause that always gets some. Alia and Paris Zanaris.
Starting point is 01:09:37 Jomey the Explanator at dinner on a social hashtag Jomey the San Diego Snow King. The San Diego Snow King? There's no over there. Oh, yes, it does. Oh, man. I've been down there, baby. Little flurries.
Starting point is 01:09:55 Oh, yes, it does. Additional production from Arjuna, Ramika Pal. Chuck takes out. We're slanging that hot D and we do with ease. And black people love them some blood and chucky cheese.
Starting point is 01:10:11 Be-boo! Leaving the fucking underwear behind is a rookie mistake, though. For her? Yeah. Women do stuff like that. Don't want. You have.
Starting point is 01:10:26 haven't left so much as a sock somewhere that was supposed to be. Women do stuff like that. Oh. Little territory markers. You know what's what? Territory markers. Hey, you know what's funny? What's funny is that's so not outrageous that like happens.
Starting point is 01:10:42 Like that's so. Yeah. Y'all, y'all are so. It happens. They come to your crib. They leave a toothbrush. They leave us. They leave something.
Starting point is 01:10:49 It's not a territory thing. Marking your territory is a fucking territory thing. What the fuck? It's a territory thing. Why is that wrong to say? Women aren't dogs, bro. They're not pissing all over to your apartment. Can I tell you something, though?
Starting point is 01:11:03 Can I tell you something, no? We have to obviously get into the podcast. Are we rolling? I don't know. Like, like, hold on. But hold on, hold on. But you know what? This is where the woke shit fucks with me.
Starting point is 01:11:16 And I tell you, because I'm woke, because I'm woke, right? I'm woke and I don't like using woke as a pejorative, it's MAGA and all of that shit. But we have to. But this is where it bothers me. Of course, women are territorial. Men are territorial. People are territorial.
Starting point is 01:11:32 I've never gone over to a woman's apartment with the thought I'm marking my territory. No, no, no, no, no. It might not be a conscious thought. I remember, let me tell you real quick story. Real quick story. Just real quick story, then we'll leave. Real quick story. Then we get to the thing.
Starting point is 01:11:48 First met Kalika. Kalika had an ex-boyfriend, right? And he lived in the same building. that she lived in. Oh, no. Right? I'm in there. You know, I start meeting her, start being with her.
Starting point is 01:12:03 I'm over there all the time. Hey, I'm over there all the time. Her work was right up the street. I'm over there all the time. I'm hanging out. I got a key to the joint. I'm coming in and out of the joint. I'm over there all the time.
Starting point is 01:12:16 I'm sleeping. I'm going to work. She's going on with friends. One time she was going out with her friends. She was like, hey, I'm leaving. I'm going out with my friends. And I'm like, okay. I don't know if you're expecting that
Starting point is 01:12:33 that means I'm going to leave. Well, that is an interesting. But LSU is getting ready to play Alabama. I'm in this bitch. And she goes, oh, okay, cool. See, when I get back, boom. Never been apart since that day. So look, so then he comes over.
Starting point is 01:12:49 He knocks on the door. The boyfriend knocks on the- While you're alone in the house. No, while she's, I'm there with her. She's still jilted. Like, he knocks on the door. Knock, knock, knock. She comes to the door.
Starting point is 01:13:01 Go over there. I'm like, go talk to him. You better go talk to him. Like, go talk to him. So she goes over there and talk to him. The conversation went. The conversation happened. And I felt like there had been enough conversation.
Starting point is 01:13:16 And I said, Kalika shut the door. Oh, ask her. I'm like, that's enough. I'm like, Kalika shut the door. Door shut, shut him out of life. We move on with the sale amicably. Okay. Are you throwing too many big words at me right now?
Starting point is 01:13:35 We move on with the sale amicably. That wasn't about any type of dominance because y'all know I don't dominate. Y'all know I am thoroughly getting dominated. I don't know where we're going. She runs that house. What did we do? But all I'm saying is, hey, this and here, not your territory anymore. New lion.
Starting point is 01:13:59 You got like toothbrushes. I'm saying. All right, let's move on. Just saying, new lion, new lion. Right. You want to have trials of life in the hall? Er, er, er, I'm down with it. New lion.
Starting point is 01:14:12 Right. Whole new pride. How can Jomey mark his territory when he's living with you in the other house? Oh, he's not going to need to. He's not going to? I'm a old line now. I got like fucking scraggily for Joe. He's a young line.
Starting point is 01:14:23 He'd come in there. He could probably take over the whole house if he wanted to. So is he going to have to do the trick when he lives with you guys? What? About like, okay, jump out of the window, go around the front of the house. No, it won't matter because we'll have implanted cameras all in his age. Oh, great, great, great. All right, let's start.
Starting point is 01:14:40 We'll know what, we'll know what's going on. Jome will never be president because we'll have everything that he's doing on tape. Phone taps and everything. Everything. Everything.
